10 Anti LO Asks

1. Pretty much every LO critic is also Anti PJO lmao. Just because PJO fans also dislike LO doesn't mean its critics do too.

2. the creator of covenant literally went viral several times over her dynamic takes on harley quinn and poison ivy to where several big name media sources were praising it and saying DC should pick them for their own and yet DC would rather use their WT partnership to give RS a one shot to shit on the gods once again that was so insignificant even the DC wiki doesn't link to it, despite them doing it for every modern comic issue and anthology they have. someone make it make sense.

3. i just love RS' comment of she'd NEVER do a Norse mythology comic because it's "too popular". ya know, because when you think of unknown mythology you think GREEK MYTHOLOGY. she probably instead knows she doesnt have a popular ship in it to force her weird cishet fantasies onto so that's why she wouldn't touch it (though at the very least Baldur/Hel is a far more interesting dynamic with a looser mythology to make up whatever you want than than HxP does, but why would RS know that?)

4. I do not get why LO has SO MANY characters in it. I was looking at a tier list for it and it had over as 100 different characters (not that you could tell, some of them are copy pasted faces) but seriously, why do they need SO many? Even just limiting it to only the characters in the hymn + the olympians it would only be about maybe 20 characters, which is more than enough, yet Rachel keeps adding more and more, which ironically end up taking away from time that should be used for HxP!

5. superman is probably the only character that is required to have a massive barrel chest but of course rachel doesn't give him that for??? reasons?? and wonder woman is another doe eyed skinny teenager?? im not even touching "circe" thats literally just her friend from art school and im not joking you can check her twitter and see theyre exactly the same. how uncreative is this woman.

6. "why doesnt rachel do LO in black and white? it'd look so much better!" because she can't design characters to save her life so she needs the colors to tell anyone apart, that's why. go on, turn your laptop or phone's color to black and white and pull up a random LO episode and try and tell anyone apart when the colors are gone and see how it goes. I promise you it wouldn't be a fun exercise.

7. TBH I would be totally cool with Eris as Zeus and Hera's daughter in LO if it weren't for the fact she's randomly designed EXACTLY like Nyx is?? Like you can get where she's going with the designs then just yanks the wheel in a random direction and thinks she's clever for it. I don't get it??

8. I get it's a Webtoon thing to have the men be all muscled but the LO men just look uncomfortable, you know what I mean? Their bodies are way too big for their heads (where are my lanky and chubby kings) and I don't see how it's supposed to be attractive. I get the same way with the women being cartoonishly hourglass shaped with their backs broken into an S. It's like RS is trying to be "sexy" but is doing in a way that it looks like satire of oversexualization, but it's supposed to be serious 💀

9. do LO fans want us to critique PJO too? Because I know I certainly have a lot to say about it. Where to start, the racism? Making the Greek gods reject Greece for America? The cringey humor? Framing Ares as wrong for defending his daughter from sexual assault? The list goes on. If anything LO fans should love PJO, it has many of the same issues it does too that they love to defend.

so kuberas one of those series where spoilers dont change the experience so i knew yaksha was going to show up but ah im so excited yaksha and og airavata??? thank you currygom. oh yeah and we got more on brilith's soul's past i guess.

huh so the ancient human cycle of reincarnation is breaking down. ptsd is being inherited across lives. humans were suppose to regain memories of their past lives when their minds and bodies were fully matured but violent deaths are leading to them regaining their memories before their minds are ready to deal with the trauma and as a result instead trraging each life seperately like we saw with the humans maruna interacted with, the humans ran meets there is no seperation between one life and the next its bluring together and thr grudges are growing as people life out the past. I love it!

...thats ananta. damn currygom is going HARD this arc, all the big names are here. also i just love ananta, yaksha, and og airavata having a breakfast club. ananta is half way to having the dead anime mom hair but joking aside the two foofy braids are super cute. currygom.... why you keep killing off all the nice ones... oh no yaksha has bad regeneration doesnt he... ok i just spent a week with a literal toddler and yeah gandharva

yaksha is basically a catboy. that explains a lot actually.

im enjoying the characterization of sagara. to sagara power is everything. ananta just wants everyone to be happy, he's uncomfortable with exterminating the ancient humans but he'll do it for sagara. this isnt true to himself or what he wants but he'll be what those around him want him to be. oh wow so the name/role of ananta was designed to take on a portion of every sin ever in the universe. also callback to brilith's conversations on whether its better to have gods that are too weak to do anything or have the power but choose not to help. oh shit and by brahma asking his consent in the destruction of the ancient humans (and ensuring it via sagara) she ensured the sins of killing them would fall on to him.

oh and somethings up with tilda but we dont know what yet. shes going to be important

where is marunas coat? mmmm head hurts... so gods forget things so that they arent weighted down by desires and reach the top/enlightenment. but once they reach the top the dont have to keep forgetting? about doomed willarav(??) all the deaths are turning point in which the characters didin't choose compassion. this is also the outcome that kali averted. ok im with maruna ran is giving me bad vibes. oooooo the maruna ran raltara gandharva situation! the tension! the drama! i was so caught up if the eye of punishment was going to be used by maruna or shess that a couple years ago i didnt even consider the possibility of a new character.

we also see the payoffs of the weight of time and the other side as well ran and maruna have come to see things from the other side (sura and humans). as others have pointed out maruna has spent several millennia among humans and discarded the sura cultural mentalities taught to him (obey superiors, no compassion etc which we see directly in his confrontation with samphati but everywhere after this time adventure) and taken a mentality closer to that of the first ancient humans. if humans using silent magic is said to lessen their humanity and make them more like sura ruthless calculating and cold, the maruna has become more human. the opposite is true of ran having spent many years living as a rakshasa and living far beyond a human lifespn. literally he has become more in tune with his sura side coming to terms with his grand parent being hanuman, yaksha's heart within him, and his power which killed his mother and he attacked the two next most important people to him lutz and rana. silent magic was said to need a desire for power, a lack of compassion for ones enemies, and a willingness to give up everything for one's goals. and mentally his mindset has been shifting from that of a humans to the one we usually see in sura. remember when he was introduced ran was the nicest character in the cast after leez.

so god kubera put the konchez party in a transcendental to stop their minds from merging with the maruna and ran of the current chapter. but thats what made them too late to stop taraka dying and 4th stage yuta. unless they wouldn't have made it aahhhhhhhh my head hurts i infinite possibilities gah! time travel! anyways but im still not sure what god kubera wants to begin with. wait no the mental transcendental preserved the minds of their former selves. the merge did happen that's how the clothes got "restored". oh yeah i forgot former kubera drew the sword of re before giving it to leez.

one of the currygom afterwords or something mentioned it but there's many more characters recently that do not neatly fit into the established boxes. perhaps its because at the beginning and and ending of the universe reality is looser. we have confirmation that yaksha clan bunny girl petupan that ran met has a chaos attribute but other sura we have met has chaos-ish aspects to them like other bunnygirl sona who maybe could be petupan's daughter? curiosly hanuman has a weird left arm when ran met him but doesnt in the modern day. then there's taraka that maintained their minds and forms like samphati and makara. then we have ran whos a human rakshasa (hanuman wondering if they forgot about a child with yaksha is still funny)

3-195 the other side 13 is the last we see maruna with his red fluffy coat in a flashback with raltara. it isnt seen until maruna goes to the abandoned timeline or n23

its probably intentional on currygoms part that yaksha's source attribute is water and that the inheritor of his heart ran was born with 3 water attributes. the interesting part is when ran starts using wind transcendentals and hanuman's source attribute is wind. so its almost as if he were a rakshasa with light as a clan attribute and water and wind as heteditary attributes. what im not sure of is in the fight with maruna ran seems to use some sort of lightning based attack and i cant quite remember so he either mixed partial surification with divine magic, has a sky attribute???? or there's sky transcendentals that dont require an attribute?

the abyss is the water channel of th sura realm?? omg and maruna cant remember the thing in the abyss that was chasing them because its existence has been replaced with yuta.

yes i liked my own post of what of it anyways here is why that webtoon is bad like not even for its contents inside just for its basic structure and method of storytelling

alright i know this will only reach the like 5 people who i know who actually read my stuff but i need to get this out there just so i can have a place to return to with my venting about just how bad this story is and then im going to try and detox it from my life so i can move on. Boyfriends i know is a webcomic that prides itself on just being full of fluff. that already is a red flag for the whole story as fluff alone can not make a good story. as anyone who has taken even the smallest 5th grade english class knows the basics of a story are as follows. you have a start, you have a build up to dealing with a conflict, conflict happens, solution to conflict is used, conflict resolution happens and then the story de-escalates and then ends. this is how every and all stories that are even remotely exposed to the greater world have worked. hell, even your most basic disney property gets this right in this regard. so why is it a problem with boyfriends? The problem is simple. There is no long lasting conflict that sticks around or has an impact great enough to drive any of these characters that we follow to do anything other than keep being together. i get that in romances the goal is to have characters get together, but in this comic it happens way too fast for what is a 100 episode series (if you dont know what webtoons episodes are, theyre basically just comic pages) Literally the first episode opens up with a character complaining about how hard it is to get a date and another going “watch this” and getting one in 5 seconds after meeting this other character and episode ended after they exchanged numbers. it just happened what felt like way too fast. there was no real proposed solution to the problem, just one character going “its easy let me show you” and ending up getting a date with someone he called a squirt like thats any real indicator that you should date him. This problem persists in the whole comic. the only conflict that stayed around for more than 3 episodes at most was a beginning arc where two characters were both trying and failing to see if the other liked them or not and ngl i wish it kept going with that angle instead of just solving it with no issue one episode and have them become part of a polycule like 5 episodes later. there was some stuff before then of them trying to figure out what it meant to be dating and such but it all got brushed away as soon as the author decided it was boring not to have two guys kissing each other with no problems or discussion about how they feel about each other. hell, another obvious problem the story has is that literally no character has anything going on for them at any given moment except like 3 traits each that are as shallow and meant to be as project-able as possible. they dont even hae NAMES. like no matter the genre anyone anywhere can agree that a character needs a name to even just be in a story if they are one thats interacting with it. not every coffee chop barista needs a name but if one keeps showing up and talking to people they need one if that makes sense. and thats not even touching on how much nothing there is in the story while also being uncomfortable a lot of the time. two of the main characters, the nerd and the goth, get like really sexual really fast for no reason. hell, they got together and immediately proposed forming a polycule with one guy whos the goth guys roommate and this other dude who neither of them have ever properly interacted with in that moment beyond meeting like once and thats it. and before anyone says anything i know the goth guy is ace but he still does stuff thats way too boundary pushing and hes not even stated to be ace anywhere in the comics. the pride month episodes only say hes trans nothing else. and him being trans didnt make me feel any better about how weird the goth guy was the whole time. i would say him and the nerd are my least favorites because they are like 99% of the weird interactions these guys have. the nerd guy even straight up carries hentai around and no one acts like its a big deal to just casually have porn on you at any given moment and like, there are some sexual moments in the comic and none of them seem to go all the way and only one felt warranted and appropriate to have and even then it was disrupted by the goth guy literally walking in on them and being upset it wasnt a threesome. sure he could have been joking but given his freak nature it felt like such a gross comment. im not even talking about most of the comic because it is literally just full of nothing. no real events or issues happen in like 80% of the episodes so its not even worth thinking about them. all you end up with is like 3 episodes dedicated to one prompt that could have been shortened into one episode but because its so nothing the creator has to stretch it out in order to feel like it actually is trying to provide more than it is when its not and never will. and like even then, they act like the characters go through development or change or anything when up to episode 100 we dont have any solid idea of what the place they even live in is like. there are like only 5 places other than these boys apartments that we see them at and its generic places like theme parks and shit. we dont get any real timeline, we dont get any real idea of where these guys like to go, we dont even get proper character motivations and what these guys care about other than being in love together. fucking onision got criticized for this shit and hes PUBLISHED. self-published but still published because even though his characters are also nothing he at least tells us where they live and what external problems exist in his worlds. meanwhile some trans mlm author on fucking webtoon spits out a pastel version minus the daddy issues and weird opinions on women and people think its great! like i just dont get it! this only exists for you to project your funny lil fandom boys into situations and pretend they actually are doing fucking anything. tldr; its bad because it constantly lacks basic story elements as simple as character names and hobbies and the things that do exist feel weird and are brushed off like its no big deal because its uwu gay men

It’s,,,,a long story. I’ve told it a few times but another won’t hurt. So when I was in middle school I went through a lot of phases in shows and things I liked, but one constant were these ocs I had. One of them was basically a really cool self insert, and they were all dimension hoppers so I could stick them into whatever show I was into. At the time, I really liked Hero 108, so I stuck in my oc. In that universe she was the “Queen of the Faces” because she had masks of basically everyone and used them to disguise herself/act as a neutral party vigilante saving orphans to raise them away from war ahdfjk. Eventually my oc developed into somewhat of her own character, and I had a whole story about how they hopped into THIS dimension and met ME, their “creator” (which is also how I got my online alias but thats another tangent), and I decided that she would give ME the name because I gave myself like,,,,a superpower that let me copy other people’s abilities.

After the 6th grade I just kept it ‘cause it was cool sounding lmao

10 Anti LO Asks

1. I don't think LO fans get this but the having to resort to tearing everything else down to prop it up is actually a worse indictment on its quality than not. If LO is truly this great of a piece of work, it should be able to stand on its own, not having harassment/smear campaigns against even remotely similar (or not) pieces of work to make it look "better" in comparison. What happened to H/P Ficlets is probably the most nasty example of LO fans being cruel in the name of making LO look "better"

2. I want to know what Kool-Aid LO fans are on because I've seen so many of them say the art is actually BETTER than it was in the beginning. Like girl what, go check your eyes 💀

3. I saw Overly Sarcastic Production's explanation of the Persephone myth. It started out really good, covering the 'possible' ancient background on the myth, and reiterating how the Homeric Hymn to Demeter is the best version we have in terms of detail. They also don't try and demonize Demeter or try to make the myth seem like some kind of romance epic.

Then the end of the video comes along and ruins the entire thing - they basically encourage people to read Lore Olympus and continue the false narrative that Persephone and Hades are the 'most functional relationship' in mythology.

It's just so frustrating to see even a popular myth youtube channel is falling for the Tumblr false interpretation of the myth that ruined Lore Olympus while completely missing the point of the story. It was always meant to be about the relationship between mother and daughter - not a damn romance. 

4. ive seen so many lo fans condemn zeus (in comic) for being more flamboyant/not being hyper masculine as hades and im like 1) ok so hades is boring while zeus is fun, got it but also 2) considering zeus' myth canon bisexuality and lo's obsession with being very heterosexual that just seems ... wrong. like i dont think they mean to be biphobia/harmful while saying stuff like this but the fact they do zero relfection on it is a big issue.

5. tbh i was willing to give the benefit of a doubt about hades and minthe but then we find out HADES is the one who blurred the lines and chased after HER and started the relationship and made her to have an apartment and stuff all under HIS control so its like?? he went after her, he's the one who wasnt being professional and went after his employe, he controls all her finances and the literal roof over her head, but we're supposed to be on HIS side and see her as ungrateful/evil??? girl what!!

6. im sorry i just cant take the "sexy" panels hades seriously because 1) its always very clearly traced, 2) it just doesnt look right given how bad the anatomy is, but also 3) its just weirdly ooc?? like rachel cant decide if hes this serious brooding king who you dont mess with or an empty headed, horny teenager. im not saying he cant have duality to him but its hard to be like "isnt he cute?" when he owns slaves, neglects children, & takes advantage of vulnerable young women into relationships

7. im begging rachel to pick up an anatomy book or something on her break WHY is hades' head so tiny now??? how did she go from semi ok anatomy to whatever this is?? and you cant go "thats her style!" because it legit doesnt even look good or cohesive or even like what we know she once could do, it just looks like a mess. i dont get how you draw non-stop for years and actually get WORSE at it.

8. i just get sad because i follow a lot of webtoon creators who feel dejected and neglected by WT meanwhile they just throw up more and more promotion for LO and shove it everyones' faces (when it very much does NOT need the help) while these other creators feel so left behind many that many of them don't even want to make another comic again. i cant imagine that feels good that they have to work twice as hard if not more to even get noticed meanwhile rachel just gets everything handed to her.

9.i do not get why rachel went with the "gods dont care/hate mortals" take in LO. even just a skim of any myth will show you the gods, for all their faults, did care about mortals and wanted the best for them. like if they hated them so much, why even let them exist? why care persephone killed so many of them? why provide them with food, water, etc? also most of the male gods have children with mortal women, why would they do that if they hate them? it's such a bad take to go with.
