babel marauders au when
(sirius's languages are mandarin, french, and italian. james's languages are tamil, arabic, and sanskrit. remus's languages are french, russian, and welsh. peter's languages are german and spanish.)
#obviously they are not the same as the protagonists of babel but i think there is soooo much potential for the marauders in a babel au.#also i have Thoughts on babel itself including critiques of it but one thing that strikes me v acutely about it is its portrayal of oxford#on one hand it is so incredibly clear how problematic oxford as an institution is (both in this magical realism world and irl)#see toriel and the cecil rhodes statue for one#but also it is written with such love and care and accuracy#see: existing in places that were not built for you or with you in mind but you also love because it is your home#damn someone write THIS remus lupin goes to hogwarts au.....what it is like existing in a place and society that detests your existence#and forces you to hide your very being#but it is also where you find family and community and beauty#marauders
