Going Dark - Part 3
Gary "Roach" Sanderson
MacTavish Residence, Glasgow, Scotland
Roach never would have guessed that MacTavish was a big time. Their 'old' house was already a mansion, complete with guest rooms, extravagant furniture and even an outdoor pool. Roach could stay here forever.
He was laying on a queen sized bed relaxing after a tiring chase earlier when Ghost knocked on his door and let himself in.
"What's wrong mate?" he asked, lifting only his head. Ghost leaned by the door and crossed his arms.
"You know how I got into a little argument with France back in Brazil right? Well, I still regret it ever happening…" he frowned, as shown by the way the fabric of his mask twitched.
"You regret which part? The fighting or the telling her what you feel?" Gary asked, cornering the ever vague Simon. He always does that when it comes to asking for advice.
Ghost ran a hand across his face and groaned.
"Bloody Hell, mate. Why do you have to ask those kinds of things?" he complained.
"So I could be clear as to which one I should recommend you to do." He replied quickly. He was very willing to help, but if Simon refuses to cooperate, then maybe he could handle it on his own.
"There's still one thing… I've been meeting with Alexandra not just for intel… " the tone of his voice was hesitant but he took a sharp inhale and continued.
"... we've also been sleeping together. No strings attached. For her it eases her tension from all the work while I try to forget about my feelings for Francine."
Gary didn't know what to say. Simon wasn't the kind of person to give up easily, and he fully understood the reasons for his latest actions.
"Well, it looks like Francine already made her choice, right?" Gary asked, trying to confirm from Simon that he already lost the battle.
"I'm not quite sure. Everytime I see her, she's physically distancing herself from Soap but later that night, they actually slept beside each other. She's making me confused and it still makes my heart beat for her…" Ghost admitted. As tough as he is on the battlefield, so was his admiration toward Francine. Gary pondered on how to help out his friend in this love triangle situation he caught himself in, but every direction he thought of would result in Ghost actually ending up sad.
The discussion was interrupted when a plane was heard from the distance, as it approached the nearby open area. It looked like the girls made it home.
"Looks like they're here." Roach sounded excited while Ghost looked worried.
~
It was impressive how they managed to bring most of their stuff from Brazil here in Scotland. It wasn't that much but the idea of packing things for six people in a hurry made Roach impressed.
"How did you bring most of this stuff?" Roach curiously asked Maxine as he helped her carry her stuff.
"Well, Samantha asked for help from his Dad and they immediately flew to Brazil." Maxine replied cheerfully, Roach loved how she managed to see the bright side of everything amidst the panic.
"So will Samantha-"
"No. They had a long talk with his Dad and she felt much safer back here with us. Her Dad wanted to offer help now that the New York Attack was over, but Samantha insisted, especially now that they're out hiding."
"Doesn't he have the power to like, pardon us for being wanted? That would make life much more easier for us."
"I thought of that too… but they're seeing Shepherd differently now. He's gone mad. And they want to corner him. Any action involving him may result in a global cripple. And I just heard all this on the plane ride here." Maxine frowned.
"Then that makes our job of locating him all worth it." Roach smiled giving hope to Maxine.
Maxine just nodded, her face was full of fear and doubt. She just wished all of this was over.
With Soap probably asleep, Roach had the liberty of touring the girls around the house, it was huge and spacious that each of them could occupy a room with about two more rooms to spare.
"Man, I could stay here forever." Roach mused as they walked the halls of the second floor. These four rooms are already occupied, most of the empty rooms are over there…" Gary pointed to the other end of the hall. Maxine looked at France and nodded as they both agreed to stay in one room.
"What about you, Miss Samantha?" Gary asked with sophistication, imitating a butler. Samantha giggled and blushed.
"I'll actually be sleeping with Alex, thanks Mr. Sanderson." she replied, playing along with Roach's role play. For a short moment, Roach felt relaxed. He hasn't felt like this for a while and it was too overwhelming. But while the enemies hid in the shadows, he was sure the team would be up for a tough fight anytime soon.
Despite being tired, Roach couldn't sleep. He felt that there was something or someone else he needed to consult. So, he decided to get up and get himself a glass of water down the kitchen. While he could hear himself gulping down a glass of water, he could also hear faint thumping from the basement. With high alert, he began descending down the stairs to investigate the source of the sound.
It was Simon. He was still up and doing sparring rounds with a red punching bag, each of his punches sent the bag swinging violently.
"You okay?" Gary finally asked, alerting Simon of his presence.
"Can't sleep." he said nonchalantly, giving the punching bag another mighty punch. Roach took a minute to admire the huge gym Soap had, each piece of equipment probably spent a fortune. He slowly paced to the small area filled with equipment and grabbed himself some boxing mitts and a protective helmet.
"So, why don't we resume our little talk?" Gary called as he presented himself to Simon on full boxing coach gear. Simon immediately positioned himself and Gary did the same as they began training with the intention of talking it out.
Simon's punches were heavy, Roach could feel a little emotion on each hit he made and it was starting to make him unstable.
"So, anything you'd want to discuss?" Roach initiated, his hands carefully met his punches as they circled around the area.
"I've been trying to ignore her, Gary. You see me try right? But the more I don't think of her, the more excited I get when I accidentally see her. It's frustrating." He explained in between his punches. There it was, the thing bothering him the most.
"What did she say back in Brazil? She probably said something that kept you from moving on. I can't think of anything else that might cause you to feel this way, unless you're lying." Roach tilted his head so he could see Simon's reaction. His punches stopped coming and he just stood there, his hands dropped to his sides.
"She… she didn't say anything… but she distances herself to John while I'm around."
"John MacTavish or John Price?" Gary interrupted, in an attempt to brighten up the mood, but instead all he got was Simon's 'are-you-kidding-me-right-now?' look.
"But when I'm not around, she finds time to see him…" Simon continued. Gary took off his gloves and tapped his shoulder.
"She… she was being considerate." Simon concluded. It looked like Gary did his job. He could feel Simon's shoulders relax upon realizing what was actually going on.
"Despite all that… she sacrificed a little just to not hurt you." Gary added, he had no intention of making Simon guilty but now that he realized it, he was making an impact toward the relationship that was blooming between Soap and France.
"Thanks, Gary. For being a great friend…" Ghost took off his gloves and walked out of the gym.
"... and the worst therapist." He joked with a grin as he walked up the stairs and left Gary in the gym.
"I hope you find your peace, Simon." Gary muttered.
The following morning, the team was already busy walking around the house. Soap was on the phone with a long list of things the girls ordered for their restock. It was planned that for the time being, the team was to stay in the MacTavish residence while Nero and Shepherd were off the grid.
Price and Jack started their own little command center inside Soap's father's office just by the living room. They began creating connections to their closest contacts to track activity from their enemies. Ghost seemed to be not around at the moment and Gary guessed he's still asleep.
Soap nodded a greeting to Roach as he walked by him on his way to the kitchen. Maxine and France were out opening drawers and anything in the pantry to clear up space for supplies. From the kitchen window, Gary spotted Samantha, Alex and Nikolai in front of a truck. Gary overheard that Nikolai wanted to go back home and he guessed today was the day he'd do so.
"I didn't know what kind of sugar you needed so I kinda ordered a bunch of em." Soap announced to the sisters and they laughed.
"The clerk kept asking me of brown, white, confectioners and some other and honestly I don't know which." he shrugged and scratched his head.
"Hey man, I was just wondering… why did you choose the risky life? When you had everything you ever needed here?" Gary asked the question that has been bothering him since he got here.
"I dunno Roach. It's just that I knew it was calling out to me… You also sound like my Mum when I told her I'm joining the force." he chuckled. Gary just nodded but still didn't understand his logic. But he dismissed the thought as soon as Maxine and France asked for his help reaching something by the cabinets.
The rest of the day was busy. Once supplies arrived, everyone else was preoccupied. Lifting boxes, arranging items, looking for intel. It was like they made their own 141 base inside the house.
By the time they're almost free, Roach and Maxine were already in the kitchen preparing for dinner.
"So, any new dreams lately?" Roach initiated as he sliced through the vegetables they're cooking.
"Piece by piece. Last night I remembered having gum stuck on my hair on picture day. I cried a lot." she giggled. Roach smiled, he was glad she's getting her memories back which made him remember of Samantha's case.
"Ow!" Gary winced as he accidentally cut a short scrape on his thumb. He was so busy staring at Maxine that he forgot he was chopping.
"Don't worry. It's just a small wound." Gary assured as Maxine pulled his thumb close to her mouth and blew air through it, just like when you're a kid and you do that to ease the pain.
Gary couldn't help but smile at her immediate action. She also looked concerned and worried about his welfare.
"Hey Max." he whispered, making the girl turn to him, her face was so beautiful in Gary's eyes.
"Is there something wrong?"
"Nothing… It's just that…"
"What is it? You're making me worried"
"I really really like you, Maxine Winters."
Maxine looked at him in the eye, the eye contact they were doing was starting to make the world fade behind them.
"Guys! I have bad news." Soap interrupted, causing everyone to form a small circle by the living room.
"Ghost left. With a note saying he'll try to gather more information on Shadow Company with Alexandra's help. He says thanks and that he'll see us all soon." Soap summarized the note. The room fell silent.

The Arrangement //
Shoto Todoroki x Fem! Reader
Part One: The Mall Incident
Part Two
Summary: Your father is a particularly strong pro hero, and owns his own agency, however, he seemingly has picked an opportunity for you to be the tie between his agency, and pro hero Endeavor's agency.
Authors Note:
One; I'm planning this to be a three part fic, my next update hopefully on Friday May 15th ! Let me know if you'd like to be on this specific taglist, or even a taglist for anything I post !
Two; I wanted to have a little fun in this, so I added in an OC of mine! I made the reader attend an unnamed school, where her friends wouldn't be main characters from MHA, and decided to throw in Maiko (my OC) anyways, I hope you enjoy !
"A student from UA? Is father okay? I thought he hated that school?" You had to stop yourself, had you really heard your mother right?
She sighed heavily, shaking her head slightly, "He does, however, your father is willing to look past the fact as long as everything goes according to plan"
This time, it was your turn to sigh.
This 'plan' was one of you meeting some student, your parents meeting, and at the end of the day, agreeing to a marriage after graduation.
You knew that you really had no choice in the matter, which is why you had never put up a fight about it, but it didn't mean that you were particularly happy about it.
Quietly, you stood up, excusing yourself from the table and your mother, leaving the dainty tea cup where it sat.
"Well, since the meeting with this student will be this weekend, I'm going to go out and buy an outfit for it." You bowed your head slightly before turning and leaving the room.
Now out of sight of your mother, you stretched, stifling a yawn as you made your way to your room, grabbing your phone from your pocket, sending a quick message to your closest friend, asking if she'd accompany you to the mall.
The two of you attended a private academy focused on teaching it's students to not only strengthen their quirks, or accelerate their academics, but also in etiquette and manners. Everything was about being proper and elite.
It was the very same school that your father had transferred to after his time at UA.
You personally didn't quite like it there, at times some students tried to pick on you, or the teachers would reprimand you for even the slightest mistake.
But, just like the marriage arrangement, you had no choice in what school you attended, your father was hellbent on you following his steps, and staying the hell away from UA.
Regardless, you had eventually made some friends, and for the first few years, you scored in the top of your class.
"Oh, (Y/n) while you're out, would you mind picking up a few things for me?" Your mother's voice rang out from behind your door, breaking your train of thoughts.
"Just make me a list, and leave it on the counter!"
It didn't take long for you to change out of your uniform and into something comfier, or for you to grab your messenger style purse, or to find the list from your mother. With your father gone, there were no distractions or unnecessary lectures.
What took the most time was getting to the mall. You could have driven, but it was nice out, the sky was clear of clouds, and there was a light breeze that flowed through the leaves in the trees.
So, you took to walking. Though, when you got to the mall, your best friend was standing with her arms crossed and a bored look on her face.
"(Y/N)! There you are! I've been waiting for hours!" She gave a dramatic sigh as you walked over.
"Calm down Maiko ! " you chuckled, she was almost always over dramatic, something that had drawn you to her in the first place.
She gave you a playful wink, and nodded her head to the doors, starting to walk inside, "Whatever, we both know that I can't calm down," she paused, giving small jazz hands, "I've got constant anxiety"
"Ah, the curse of having a third eye quirk," You followed behind, then moved to the side of her.
"Oh! What's the occasion for today's trip?" Maiko tucked a piece of light brown hair behind her ear, eyeing you as she waited for a response.
You hesitated, she still didn't know about the whole arranged marriage, and it had been about a month since you had found out.
"Oh...my family and I are meeting another family for some business thing, so I needed to get a new outfit in case they have a son or daughter our age, " You spouted off a lie, knowing that she'd fall for it, only because she trusted you.
"Ooooh another potential merger for your dad's hero agency?"
You nodded, pausing as your stomach gave a quiet rumble.
Despite the lunch you were having with your mother earlier, you didn't really eat.
"Hey, let's get something to eat first," You point to the nearest food outlet.
Before you know it, Maiko and you are each tossing fries to the other, both failing to catch most in your mouth, but you are having a good time regardless.
Once out of fries, you and her are left with your milkshakes, hers chocolate, and your's strawberry. Something kind of impulsive as you haven't had one strawberry flavored in a few years.
"Hey, I think we could probably take these with us to go look for an outfit," Maiko picks hers up, already a third of it gone.
With a nod, you stand up, grabbing your shake and bag, waiting for Maiko before heading off to your favorite store.
"Hey what about this?" She held up a pleated, light blue skirt, it would stop just above your knees, and complimented you very well, "It even has real pockets!"
"And I could wear it with this shirt...and maybe the jean jacket we found earlier?" You smiled happily, holding up a plain white t-shirt, a small v neck cut, nothing too extreme but not too plain.
Your friend placed the skirt into your basket, and you followed suit with the shirt. All that was needed now, would be to grab the jean jacket from earlier.
However, as you turned, you ran into a...hard surface and along with you, came your half finished milkshake.
You stumbled back, eyes wide as you realized what had just happened.
"Oh my gosh, I am so-"
But the male cut you off, his voice monotone as he did, "Save it, just move out of the way, I need to clean my shirt,"
You quietly moved to the side, watching as the moody stranger walked away, leaving you and Maiko to recover.
He had red hair...well only half of his hair was red, and the other half was white, leaving you to wonder how much hair dye it had taken to get it to look so perfect.
"Well...I wish I could've helped you see that coming...but uh..I got the jacket?" She smiled sheepishly, causing you to let out a nervous laugh, releasing the tension you didn't know you had.
"Okay, cmon lets go pay!" You turned, still reeling from the encounter with that guy..but hey, at least you wouldn't be seeing him again!
So, with that thought in mind, Maiko and yourself brought your chosen outfit to the front counters, paid and left the store.
"Hey, are you doing anything tonight?" You turned to Maiko after some five minutes, a thought in the back of your mind, nagging at you since you had left the house to meet her.
"I don't think so! Why, is your mom cooking tonight? Anything she makes is always better than your dads...or yours," she poked her tongue out at you.
"Wha?! Hey! Im not that bad of a cook!" You pouted and crossed your arms, turning away from her, "Well I did have something to tell you but now its not happening,"
She immediately moved in front of you, "Wait no! Your cooking is good! Just tell me the news!"
"It'll have to wait for my house, it's kind of big news…"
And with that, the two of you set off for your house, Maiko calling her mom and letting her know where she'd be for the night.
The walk was spent talking about anything and everything, and at one point Maiko tripping and you having to catch her, but hey, that's what friends are for.
As you approached your house, you spotted your fathers car in the driveway, causing you to screw your face up in dread.
Hopefully he didn't have a lecture for you, especially if Maiko was here. You had always hated how he seemed to pick on you whenever your friends were over.
And much to your dismay, when you walked inside he met you with a sour look, "(Y/n), where have you been? Don't forget about this weekend's meeting, not to mention the exams coming up,"
You bit back a response about how the exams were two months away, and instead just nodded your head, busying yourself with slipping your shoes off, "I was buying a new outfit for our meeting. I told mother before I left."
He paused, now eyeing you and Maiko, "And came home with...Fujino was it?"
She nodded, even though she practically lived at your house for a week at a time due to the amount of sleep overs you had, your father had barely bothered to remember her name.
"Im sorry for not telling you ahead of time, Sir." She bowed her head slightly, only really apologizing because she knew that if she didn't, it would come down on you.
"Make your way to (Y/n)'s room, I still need to have a few words with her," he commanded, waiting for her to go up the stairs before he continued.
"And (Y/n), do not forget how important this marriage arrangement is. The Todoroki family is powerful, Endeavor is rising in his ranks as a hero, and his son will follow suit. You have to make sure that you are seen as exemplary, no mistakes can be made. Do you understand?"
You paused, heart hanging heavy, "Yes father…"
Once he let you go, you made your way to the top of the stairs, seeing that Maiko was waiting for you, a worried look in her eyes, "So...a marriage proposal?"
"Welcome to the news I had for you…"
You two moved into your room, the bag of clothes dropped onto the floor, and you climbed onto your bed, grabbing an orange bunny plush, hugging it to your chest.
"Okay so I wanted to tell you about the arrangement but...I dunno, its hard. I'm having my choice taken away from me and for what? So my father and this other hero to have a more powerful agency?"
"(Y/n)...im so sorry that you've been going through this alone. I'm here for you, whatever you need!" She moved to a swinging chair you had, sitting in it carefully as she thought for a moment, "So, you've never met this guy or his family?"
"At most I know his family name. But Im too busy focusing on school work to pay attention to how his father is "So high up the ranks" or whatever. Its like my father thinks that this 'Endeavor' guy is the number two pro hero or something…" You puffed out a breath of air, pursing your lips as you thought quietly.
Maiko stared at you for a few minutes, blinking a few times as she tried to break the news to you.
"Uhh..Endeavor...as in Enji Todoroki?"
You looked up, nodding quietly at her puzzled look.
"(Y/n) he is the number two hero...or wait..if All Might retired a few years back... then number one actually!" She hummed as she herself started to think but eventually shook her head, eyes widening.
Maiko quickly pulled out her phone, typing hurriedly into it and gasping, "(Y/n) wait! His son goes to UA! His son is reportedly one of the Big Three of his class!" She stopped, scrolling, "uh oh…"
At this, you scrambled from your spot to her, pulling the phone from her hand to look at what the cause of this 'uh oh' was.
It was a picture. A picture of Endeavour's son. He had red and white hair, and a glare so deadly it probably would kill someone on sight.
But what got you more was the fact that this was the guy from the mall earlier. You had totally spilled a strawberry shake all over the number one hero's son, and the guy who you would be marrying after graduation.
"This is...this is fucked. Im so screwed! Not only did I embarrass myself but now I've probably made it seem like im a clumsy girl who likes to shop all the time and now this...Todoroki guy is going to tell his father about me and then it'll ruin the arrangement and my father will kill me." You spouted off more worries until Maiko grabbed your shoulders, shaking you lightly.
"Hey! We aren't planning your funeral yet! Maybe we can meet up with him before you have to meet with his dad! I think I know one of the students at UA!"
You looked to her, your breathing returning to normal as you nodded along, maybe that could work after all.
"Okay so, we ask whoever you know to get his number and text him about how it was me who spilled the drink and I wanted to apologize...and that Im also the girl he's meeting this weekend!"
Maiko punched her fist into the palm of her hand, "Okay, lets set this plan into action! I'll text Kirishima!"
You eyed her, realizing that you had never questioned how she knew anyone at UA, "While you do that, mind explaining to me about whoever this Kirishima is?"
She only smiled for a moment, putting her phone down after sending him a message about Todoroki, "Oh! He and I work in the same coffee shop! Not everyone is super rich you know, but he's pretty nice guy, kinda cute too. But, you know how my mom is. Im surprised that she let me be friends with you, I swear, she's scared of anyone!"
You gave a 'Mhhm' to her, knowing full and well that this was the coworker who she tended to talk about but never named, knowing that you'd probably show up to her work to try and get more information. But hey, you'd leave it at that for now.
"Well...I guess that now we wait for Kirishima to hopefully send us Todoroki's number?'
"Now we wait! And with our good luck, by Wednesday we can smoothen out what happened at the mall…"
You nodded once, as much as this plan seemed rickety, you were willing to take the chance. While you hated the idea of a marriage to whoever this young hero may be, you know that if you messed it up, your father would never let you live it down.

Chapter Eight: Here's To Hoping
(Image not mine)
Rated: PG
~You see I had this crazy dream last night, this man he talked to me He told me everything that's good and bad about my history
He told me that you are, you are the future
And the future looks good The future looks good to me~
"Jack," Sam sighed, checking his watch, "You gotta face the possibility that Marty may not be coming."
Jack was pacing back and forth across the motel's parking lot, trying his best not to slip on the crystallized asphalt. Dean had called the frozen tarmac 'Black Ice' and Jack felt that the term was quite accurate, it did feel like he was trying to walk on ice. But Jack just couldn't stand still. It was seven thirty-five A.M. and Marty still had not showed.
"No, she's coming. I'm sure of it!" Jack said with conviction, wringing his hands before shoving them into the pockets of his jacket. The small amount of force he applied was enough to throw him off balance. Jack's feet slipped out from beneath him and his head smacked against the frozen tarmac.
Sam flinched in sympathy but didn't move from the spot where he leaned against the Impala. He made no move to help Jack up as this was the sixth time he had bashed his head on the black ice in the last fifteen minutes. That fall and the five others before it would have been enough to kill or at least critically injure your typical human being.
So naturally, or rather unnaturally, Jack sat up and rubbed the back of his head. The blood soaked his hand as the wound quickly mended itself. Soon all that was left of the injury was a puddle of blood, nearly identical to five others on the ground that quickly began to freeze. Jack scooted on his knees to the edge of the parking lot and used the snow gathered there to wash the crimson substance off his hand. He stood carefully before beginning yet another round of pacing that would most likely end the same way it had the last six times.
Jack wished he could be sitting in the Impala with Dean and Cas but he found that waiting for Marty was more important to him, so he kept pacing. He wouldn't have to wait much longer. Dean had said that they would wait until eight o'clock before going to look for her. That arrangement had taken quite a while to agree upon. When Marty had failed to show up at six o'clock, Jack had immediately feared the worst.
"What if-what if she's hurt, or something? What if she got kidnapped?" He had worried.
"Jack, I'm sure everything is fine. People have different versions of what 'bright and early' means," Dean had reassured him, taking a long sip of coffee. He did not want to be up, but one thousand miles was a long way to go, so it was best they got up early. Besides, the earlier they checked out, the less they would have to pay, the motel charged by the hour and the rates weren't cheap.
"I know, but you saw what happened last night! What if those guys came after her again?" Jack had leaned back against the Impala's seats. The only reason he had gotten into the car in the first place was for the air conditioning. He was deeply worried that Dean might just decide to take off without Marty.
"Jack raises a valid point, Dean. The odds that those men from the bar should come after Martina, are considerable," Cas noted.
"Fine, if the shrimp doesn't show by eight, we go looking for her, and if we can't find her by ten, then I don't care; we're leaving without her," Dean decided. That was when Jack climbed out of the vehicle and began his trek back and forth across the parking lot. Sam had just followed him.
"I dunno, Jack. She seemed sorta skittish, don't ya’ think?" Sam now spoke.
"What are you saying?" Jack asked, turning to Sam.
"I'm saying that maybe you freaked her out. Maybe she got scared and ran off. Maybe- I don't know- maybe she's hiding, or something." Jack's eyes narrowed.
"You think she's scared of me?" He asked, though it sounded like more of a statement than a question. "What did I do wrong?"
"No, no. Jack, you didn't do anything wrong. I think, maybe she's just scared of coming with us- of what that might mean for her. I don't think she's scared of you, Jack. Marty doesn't seem like the sort of person that scares easy," Sam reassured. A smile tugged at the corner of Jack's mouth.
"You're right. She doesn't."
"If she doesn't show, we'll go looking, but you have to be ready in case she's changed her mind."
"She-she wouldn't do that, she promised!" Jack insisted.
"Sometimes people break their promises," Sam warned.
"She's coming. I know she is."
"Okay, Jack." Sam ducked back into the car, leaving the young Nephilim to wait in the cold. Jack turned on his heel to resume pacing.
He forgot he was standing on the ice.
Down Jack went. Yet again. Bashing his head on the asphalt. Yet again.
This time, Jack decided to just stay down for a bit and closed his eyes. He could hear Dean's obnoxious laughter echoing from inside the Impala. Jack came to the conclusion that black ice, and ice in general, was hard, impossible to walk on, and absolutely unforgiving when you slammed your head against it. Jack decided that he didn't like the black ice, he decided that he didn't like ice at all. This was fortunate as seemed as though the feeling was mutual.
There was a skidding noise somewhere off to his left and Jack opened his eyes. He turned his head towards the sound and directly beside him was Marty's amused looking face, only eight inches from his own.
"That was the most graceful thing I think I've ever seen in my life. You should consider ballet, Jack," She said.
Marty lay on the ice next to Jack with her head propped up on her elbow. Her mouth was twisted in a smirk and she held an eyebrow in a raised position. The expression appeared condescending, but Jack could see the sparks of affectionate mirth gleaming in her eyes.
Now, the reason why Marty was laying on the ground was a mystery to Jack. He was also baffled as to how she had managed to sneak up on him the way she had. If she had been walking down the street, he would have seen her coming, but he hadn’t, and it wasn't as though he had been laying on the ground for very long. If she had been close enough to see him fall, then how had he not seen her? Jack sat up and his brows pulled together in slight confusion.
"Where did you come from?" He asked. Marty followed his lead and sat up with a shrug. A large, overstuffed backpack was slung over her shoulders, yet she carried it with ease.
"From over there," She said, causally gesturing to the thicket of trees just behind the Motel as if it was a normal thing for people to go bushwhacking to their destination instead of simply taking the road.
"Why?" Jack wondered. Marty shrugged again.
"Cause' it's faster and way funner than using the road," She answered. Then she blinked and her face sort of scrunched up and she shook her head, laughing to herself. "Funner? Funner? That's not even a word! I think I need to use the sleep." Jack laughed with her for a moment before glancing to his feet and frowning. "What's wrong Jack-Jack?" The line between Jack's brows deepened and he looked to Marty.
"Why do you call me that?" He asked, temporarily distracted from his cold, slippery problem. Marty's mouth twitched with a tiny laugh.
"Jack-Jack is a character in a movie about superheroes. Have you ever seen The Incredibles?"
"No, I haven't."
"Oof, buddy! I'll have to show it to you one of these days, just remind me. Anyway, Jack-Jack is a baby with, like 50 different powers that he just uses willie-nillie and, yeah; it's a pretty funny movie and when you said you had powers and that you're, like two, that's just what I thought of," She explained. "And I'm rambling again, sorry!"
"I don't mind. I like knowing what you're thinking about," Said Jack. Marty ducked her head, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear in a shy sort of way.
"Nah, you'll get tired of it eventually." Marty tapped her forehead. "Up here is nothin' but a random mix of movie quotes, song lyrics, and paradoxical questions."
"I don't think so," Jack said, shaking his head. Marty made a face.
"Well I do! I live up there, dude! Anyway, what was the long face for?" Her change of subject brought Jack to his problem.
"I don't like ice," He said, as if that explained everything. Marty raised an eyebrow in question, "It's impossible to walk on!" Jack exclaimed.
"Ah, I see. I guess that explains why you look like a homicide victim." Marty gestured to the frozen pools of Jack's blood on the tarmac and the blood coating the back of his head. "Want some help getting up?" Jack nodded.
Planting her feet on the icy surface, Marty stood and extended her hand for Jack to take. He used her arm to pull himself up, doing his best to replicate what Marty had done to stand. He wobbled a bit and almost fell back down, but Marty caught and steadied him before that happened. When he was vertical again, Jack glanced toward the Impala and realized that now he had to get over to it without falling. Marty was quick to notice his worry.
"Come on, Jack. It's really not that hard, look!" Letting go of his hand and sliding out onto the ice, she twirled once, jumped into the air and then twirled again, lifting her foot to her knee. Her foot touched back down and dragged her to a stop, facing Jack who looked like he'd seen a miracle. "See?" Marty did jazz-hands.
"I don't think I can do that," Jack said, sounding a little intimidated.
"Oh, no way. That took me years, I was just showing off!" She explained with a wave of her hand. Moving back to him, she reached down to pick up an instrument case and wrap a gray plastic grocery bag around her hand.
"You should teach me!"
Marty chuckled and pulled some of her hair away from her face. Her black-to-grey-to-white hair was down again today, descending all the way to her knees. Jack had never met anyone with hair that long, but he thought it was amazing.
"Alright, just remind me take you ice-skating and movie bingeing, kiddo."
"I don't think you can call me 'kiddo'," Jack said with a frown.
"Why not? If you don't like it, I'll stop saying it."
"Well, I am biologically older than you, right?" Jack pointed out. Marty chuckled.
"Where does a two-year-old hear a word like 'biologically'?"
"I heard Sam use it."
"Makes sense." Marty shrugged. "Anyway, you're right, but I call everyone 'kiddo' age doesn't really matter. I call people all sorts of things."
"Like what?"
"You'll find out, honey-bunches-of-oats."
"Is that one of them?"
"Yup!" Marty snatched Jack's hand and helped him over to the car where she knocked on the driver's side window. Dean rolled it down and she glanced at the men inside. "Hey guys!"
***
"H-hey, Marty! You-you came!" Sam greeted me, he sounded surprised.
"I promised I would!" I said, I didn't miss the 'I-told-you-so' look Jack shot at Sam, "Dean, could you pop the trunk? I've got precious cargo." I raised the instrument case with my violin up into view.
"Yeah, sure." Dean climbed out of the car and skidded a little getting to the back where he opened the trunk.
I swallowed deeply. There were a LOT of weapons in there. Dean pulled on a tab and a panel came down, covering the arsenal in the truck's false bottom. I placed my case in carefully and slid it all the way to the back. Taking off my backpack, I positioned it between the case and the truck's door so my instrument wouldn't slide around. It was the most valuable thing I owned; I couldn't have it getting damaged. I then nodded to Dean and he closed the trunk. I was really doing this.
Jack opened the Impala's door for me and clung to it like a lifeline as I gathered my hair and slid into the backseat next to Cas. The boy followed after me and pulled the door shut.
"Here we go." Dean put the car into gear and rolled it out onto the road.
"So, where are you guy's taking me?" I asked, shifting to get comfortable in my seat.
"Lebanon, Kansas," Dean answered.
"Ooh, that's a long way away. I'm sorry I was so late. Did I make you very late?" Dean shrugged.
"Doesn't really matter, but yeah."
"I'm really sorry, I just wanted to say goodbye to somebody," I apologized, "But I brought chocolate! Will that atone for my sins?" I raised the bag of goodies Dan had given me.
"Hell yeah!" Dean reached back and opened his hand for the brown gold. I dropped a truffle into his palm, tossing one into Sam's lap and handing another to Jack. I held one out to Cas but he turned me down.
"No thank you, Martina," The angel said, gently.
"It's Marty, remember?" I corrected him and shrugged, unwrapping the candy. "Well, more for me, I guess." Dean reached his hand back again, asking for seconds. "Dude, this is gonna be a long ride, we gotta save our provisions." I declared, dramatically slapping his hand away.
"Aw, man!"
"Suck it up, butter-cup." I was about to pop the candy into my mouth when I noticed something on the wrapper. "Does anybody here like nougat?" I asked. Jack's head snapped up, his eyes begged for the truffle in my hand.
"I do."
"Oh good! I can't stand the stuff!" I passed him the chocolate. Jack looked at me like I was insane.
"Oh no, Jack. She doesn't like nougat, are you sure you guys can be friends?" Sam joked. At least I was pretty sure he was joking.
"You say that like I committed high treason!" I chimed.
"I dunno, I do feel betrayed," Jack said with his mouth full. I faked a gasp.
"I don't believe this! Jack, are you breaking up with me?" Dean burst out laughing, Sam snorted, and Jack just gave me his lopsided grin. My comment even won a quiet chuckle from Cas. I took that as a good sign.
"Yeah, I think so." Jack chuckled.
"Can we still be friends?" I asked, sarcasm dripping from my every word. Jack pretended to think about that.
"Only if you teach me to ice-skate," He mock-decided.
"It's a date! Wait, no its not, you broke up with me." I reached out and shook Jack's hand, sealing our satirical deal. The car shook with laughter and I gave myself a mental tally mark as I tied up my treat bag, placing it at my feet. When the laughter died down, Castiel was the first to speak up.
"Was that an instrument case you brought with you?" He asked.
"Yeah it is. Why?"
"I'd just like to get to know you," He answered simply.
"We all do. So, what instrument do you play, Marty?" Sam turned in his seat to look at me.
"Uh, I play the violin," I answered timidly.
"Are you very good?" Sam wondered.
"Um, well, I don't know. I'm sorta out of practice, but I started playing when I was eight," I replied. Sam chuckled.
"I'll take that as a yes." His tone was warm, despite his previous distrust. It made me smile, maybe I was winning him over.
"Okay, my turn," Dean spoke up.
"Yeah?"
"What's with the hair? I mean, that's a lot of hair. Why don't you cut it?" He asked. I bit my lip and nodded, trying to think of an acceptable answer.
"Well, my mom loved to braid hair, and my sisters, Bree and Jackie, hated having long hair so they cut theirs real short and my mom couldn't do anything with it, but I liked having my hair long. My mom would spend hours working on my hair, that was our time together. See, she always got so sad when I would cut it and now I just-" I stopped and looked at the floor of the Impala. "Now I just can't bring myself to cut it. Not without her. I don't want to make her sad. It's all I've got left of her." With a start, I realized I was crying and quickly wiped my tears away with my sleeve.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-" I cut Dean off.
"It's okay." It had to be.
"Well, what about the color, what's that about? Or does this have a tragic story behind it too?" Dean asked, trying to make a joke. I cracked a smile.
"Oh, I've always wanted to have it like this. I love the fading colors, so hiding from a blood thirty vampire just gave me the motivation to actually go through with it," I shrugged.
"So, what's your real hair color?" Dean pressed.
"Black."
"Wait, that's natural?" He sounded stunned.
"Yeah!" I giggled a little. "The black is real, only the grey and white parts are dyed."
"You're lucky, black hair is cool. Looks good on you too."
"Thanks’ Dean."
That was when we passed the small, wooden sign on the side of the road. The paint was old, faded by the sun, and chipping away but I knew what the words said.
Now leaving Copper Harbor We'll get you back soon enough!
As I watched the town I'd called home for so many years fade from my view, I found myself hoping that I'd never return. I looked forward at the road ahead of me and the hunters beside me.
I looked to the future.
The future was looking pretty good.
~See, I had this crazy dream last night, this man he talked to me He told me everything that's good and bad about my history
He told me you are, you are the future
And the future looks good The future looks good to me~

Helloooo😄, i don't if I've said this before, but even I have, your writing is amazing (like how is it possible to be this good?!) and I always find myself coming back to your account😅 could I request 99: “I fell in love with you, not them.” or 49: “Who hurt you?” with Wonwoo please? I hope you have a nice day! (or night)
ahhh thank u so much!!! you’re the sweetest
“I fell in love with you, not them.”
Genre: Fluff!!! & Angst if you squint
Word Count: 1,309
Warnings: Drinking, smoking weed
Upon observing Wonwoo’s face, you had come to the conclusion that your boyfriend was angelic. His sharp jawline along with his pointed eyes that reminded you of some ethereal god made your heart flutter in the best of ways. Looking at him after a long day was a breath of fresh air, it was almost as if you were meant to be with him in that moment--smoking a blunt on the roof of your house a little past midnight.
The two of you had been telling stories to one another for the past few hours, it was only about an hour ago Wonwoo had brought out weed. Now you were blazed--eyes glassy and bloodshot, and you were so infatuated with the man that laid next to you.
“Wonwoo,” You began, “I love you.” Wonwoo gave you a hoarse laugh at your sudden outburst and scooted closer to you, snaking an arm around your waist as your head began to rest in the crook of his neck. It was like your bodies melted together just right, like you two were pieces of a puzzle that just fit.
“I love you too, Y/N.” He murmured into your temple after giving it a chaste kiss. After a few moments of silence, you decided to speak up.
“When did you realize you were in love with me, Wonwoo?”
Wonwoo scoffed out of surprise and eyed you incredulously. You smirked adorably, waiting for him to proceed to answer your self-indulgent question.
“That night.”
Your eyebrows furrowed immediately after Wonwoo’s vague answer.
“What night? Could you be more specific?”
Wonwoo giggled at your persistence. Damn, you really wanted to know.
“That night. The one where you got so drunk you started asking Soonyoung if I had really had feelings for you or if I was just lying.”
Any sense of giddiness in the air soon dissipated.
“Nevermind, I don’t wanna hear about it.” You turned away from Wonwoo’s face as your cheeks turned a bright shade of crimson. Despite being intoxicated when it happened, you could still recall the most embarrassing moments of the night with ease.
Wonwoo laughed airily and pulled you back to him. Suddenly, your mind was wandering to that one drunken night to which you had tried to suppress eternally.
It was May. Your relationship with Wonwoo was new, exciting, and unpredictable. When he was in college, Wonwoo put on an icy exterior to everyone. Yet, somehow, you plowed your way through his walls of pure steel, and danced your way into his cold heart. Your warmth then spread to him, making everything to Wonwoo more colorful and enjoyable. He was elated just from being near you, or from making eye contact with you.
You, on the other hand, were drowning in a pit of your own anxiety. Despite Wonwoo’s blatant feelings for you, you still felt inadequate. Was he just messing with you? Did he pity you so much to the point where he accepted your confession?
Yes, you confessed to him, going against the cliche. You were also drunk the night you confessed, which was partially why you drank so much that night. Maybe some liquid courage would convince you to speak your mind and voice your worries to Wonwoo.
A few shots later, you found yourself talking to your friend (who was also Wonwoo’s buddy), Soonyoung. Soonyoung found your drunken state to be highly entertaining, so he decided to selfishly indulge in conversing with you.
“Soonyoung,” You slurred, “does he like...even like me? ‘Cause I dunno if he does! There, I said it!” Soonyoung nodded intently, listening to the anxiety you felt over your boyfriend. He had to bite the inside of his cheek to prevent himself from laughing at your ridiculous state.
“He’s so cute, Soonyoung...So damn cute! But, like, he’s just...so invested in his work and friends. What am I, Soonyoung? Am I chopped liver? Am I dog shit? Oh fuck, I’m dog shit!” You wailed, helplessly throwing your arms up into the air in exasperation. The music blared in your ears, making you cringe at the loud cacophony. No one really paid attention to you besides Soonyoung, or at least that’s what you thought.
Suddenly, you made eye contact with the man of the hour. You swore you could feel your heart rise to your throat. Your eyes widened out of shock and fear. You made a clumsy attempt to escape, but Wonwoo managed to grab onto your wrist when you tried to stumble past him. Soonyoung gave Wonwoo an incredulous smile and shrugged. You were too drunk to notice Wonwoo glaring at the other boy.
Wonwoo dragged you to his bedroom, since the party was being held at the frat house he lived in.
“Are...are we gonna have sex?” You innocently asked once Wonwoo closed the door. You didn’t really imagine your first time with Wonwoo to be like that--one half of you drunk and the other half angry.
Yet, when those words fell out of your mouth, Wonwoo’s angry expression morphed into an amused one. His eyes flashed with a glint of admiration--purely saved for you.
“Well? Are we?” You persisted, making Wonwoo laugh out loud. He completely forgot about his previous feelings of irritation and just let himself find you cute.
“No, Y/N, our first time together won’t be when you’re shitfaced.”
You nodded in understanding.
“You do have a point there, Wonwoo.”
Silence followed your words. Wonwoo took long strides to where you sat on the bed, and you gulped out of fear. Why were you scared?
Wonwoo was lanky, shy, and unintimidating. The last thing he would do was hurt you. And, even if he tried, you were quite confident you could defend yourself.
“So, care to elaborate on what you were talking about with Soonyoung?” Wonwoo questioned. Okay, maybe he was a little intimidating. It was kind of hot, though.
“Good ol’ Soonie.” You cheered, earning a glare from your boyfriend. You sighed, realizing that there was no way out of this one.
“Please don’t be scared to tell me. I-I care about you, Y/N.”
“Okay, fine! Sometimes, when you’re with your friends, I get sad. Because, well, you see--well...you see--”
“Just say it.”
“Because sometimes I feel like you like them more than me...Sometimes I feel like you accepted my confession because you felt bad for me and it hurts my heart.”
Before Wonwoo could think about what he was going to say, his mouth just articulated the words.
“I fell in love with you, not them.”
Love?
“Holy shit, you love me?” You exclaimed, a smile breaking out on your face. Wonwoo’s cheeks turned a bright shade of red, along with the tips of his ears.
“Um…”
“Oh thank God, dude, I thought I was the only one.” You burst with excitement, giving your boyfriend a cheeky smile.
Wonwoo let go a breath he didn’t even know he was holding. He felt the weight of the world fall off his shoulders and onto the ground, where your insecurities fell to as well. Then, it was just the two of you, both confident in one another’s love.
“God, that night was just something else.” You murmured after relishing in the memory. Wonwoo snickered, shaking his head at the memory.
You then started to think about the way Wonwoo changed. When you first had met him, he was cold, brooding, and quite aloof. Yet, once he was under your optimistic and lovely clutches, he changed for the better. It didn’t take him long to fall for someone as warm and inviting as you.
You stayed tangled in Wonwoo’s arms until the two of you grew tired and went back into your room through the open window. You fell asleep in Wonwoo’s arms, feeling nothing but that wonderful feeling of security.

「Hopeless causes at love」
Denki Kaminari x reader
warnings: hurt/comfort
wordcount: 1,470
summary: you and your crush are stupid in love <3
Your bare feet got used to the cold pavement of your balcony at Heights Alliance, you were sitting here for a while after all. You didn't want an another night to be spent crying yourself to sleep, or not sleeping at all for that matter. And even if you decided to stay in your room, you just couldn't stand the still audible laughs and music coming from the common room. You weren't the only one who wasn't there, so they probably thought you wanted to get a good night's rest just like Bakugou. But no, you just didn't want to see your best friend and crush flirt casually with everyone. And even when you just ignored it for a while, you began to feel jealous. Or at least, that's what you thought you were since it was the easiest way to describe the heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach that twisted each time his eyes landed on anyone but you. And when they eventually did turn to you, it just didn't feel right. It felt like you weren't enough, or he was just playing with you because he knew you wouldn't take it seriously since you were his best friend.
a/n: another fic that's been sitting for a while, hope you don't mind another angsty, hurt/comfort one, I've got two Obi fics in works tho! for now hope you enjoy this one!
Your bottom lip trembled under your teeth and body shivered. You wrapped your arms around your knees, hiding your tear stained face in between. Your jaw hurt from clenching your teeth together or biting on your lip trying to contain the sobs, but in the end releasing quiet sniffles and whines anyway. But most of all, your heart hurt. It ached and all you wanted was for it to stop.
You wanted to stop liking him, even if it meant hating or completely erasing Denki Kaminari out of your head. No, you wouldn't want that, you just wanted to stop liking him or for him to stop coming to you for all kinds of romantic advice and for god's sake, trying it out on you. You were always the one he'd ask to review his outfits for dates, or recommend movies, restaurants, or whatever. And each time he'd invite you to check out whatever place he planned a date on. Sure, that meant that you were closer to him than anyone else, but you knew him better than anyone would! You knew what his favourite sweet were, that even though he wasn't a morning person, he loved watching the sunrise.
Another sob escaped your lips as your hug on your knees tightened. Of course, you could sabotage his dates, but even after you had planned out each step, your heart melted at the sight of his bright smile and nervous questions if he looked alright. You even ended up giving advice to one of his dates when they asked you, and you ended up rambling about how what they had in mind for a date was a horrible idea for Denki.
Why was he always looking at someone else? Were you not pretty enough? Not good enough? If so, why was he flirting with you? Was he really not able to notice that you clearly had a crush on him? He surely caught you staring a few times, why couldn't he ever ask you on a serious date?
You shook your head, a few more tears dripping from your chin as you did. You wiped some away with the back of your hand, but ended up letting most of them soak into your clothes as you buried your face in the sleeves and took in the scent. You were even borrowing his hoodies! Wasn't that a clear sign that you were into him?
At that point you rested your chin on your crossed arms, staring at the horizon. Your balcony faced the east, so whenever Denki miraculously woke up early enough you both would spend the mornings here, admiring the view. Sometimes both would get breakfast and come up here. The table and chairs were still in the corner where you left them from last time.
You didn't cry anymore, your eyes were probably puffy, and you felt the stains your tears left on your face. No matter how many times you'd lick your lips, they still felt dry. Your nose scrunched up each time you'd sniffle, right now it just annoyed you.
"Y/n..?" you almost jumped at the sound of Denki's voice.
You turned your head to see him at the glass door of your balcony, leaning on the frame of it with his arm, his chest was moving abruptly once a moment, which hinted you towards the fact that he must have drank something. His cheeks were dusted pink, which you noticed thanks to the dim light coming from the inside of your room.
"Why are you here?" he asked, his eyes narrowed at you.
Even though you were just crying because of him, you still felt that familiar flutter in your stomach. But also a hint of panic, how were you going to explain why you were here, crying?
"And why are you here? Shouldn't you be down with the others?" you asked, feeling the urge to sniff.
"We thought it was enough partying," he said as he took a few steps towards you, his back slammed against the wall and he slid down to sit next to you. "Is that my hoodie? I've been looking for it.." he mumbled, scanning your silhouette.
"Yeah, I borrowed it the last time we hung out in your room," you replied, resting your chin on your arms once again.
Denki shifted, his legs stretched out as he too turned towards the horizon. "Do you like it better?"
You furrowed your brows at the question. "Like what better?"
"The sunset. Do you like it better than sunrise?" he tilted his head to the side as he turned a bit to look at you.
"Dunno," you shrugged.
"Y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"Why were you crying?"
You didn't move, your eyes still scanning the blended colours. For a few more seconds both of you were silent, you thought that maybe Denki gave up on you answering.
"Did I do something?" you could feel his eyes on you. "I feel like lately you've kinda avoided me,"
Were you? Now that you thought about it, you really did avoid him. Perhaps you hadn't noticed it as you did it.
"I love you, so please let's talk it out,"
"Lying doesn't suit you," you snatched without thinking.
You felt your body tense up, your lips pressed together.
".. What..?"
The knot at the pit of your stomach twisted at the sound of hurt in his voice, but while you regretted your words, you couldn't hold back your frustration.
"Are you serious?" you asked harshly.
You shifted from your position, your back hurt from not moving for a long while but you ignored it. "Are you saying that to every other person too?"
Confusion was painted on Denki's face as he blinked at you. "What?"
"Urgh don't act like that! You are flirting with others all the time, going on dates, don't tell me you love me because it's not true!" you felt a gulp form in your throat.
You didn't care that you raised your voice and someone could hear you, all you wanted to do was spit out everything you cried over right now.
"What dates? Are you talking about that one like, two months ago?" Denki asked, trying to catch on. "You set me on it though," he furrowed his brows.
"They asked me for advice because they wanted to confess to you you dumbass. They were planning on taking you to that one sushi place where you threw up last time we went there!" you argued.
"I know they confessed, but I don't have a thing for them 'cause I wanted to confess to you,"
"Then why didn't you?" you asked, tears in your eyes once again.
"I tried! I tried like five times and when you started borrowing my clothes I thought you finally accepted it!" Denki motioned to your clothing.
"I thought you were joking! We flirted all the time for fun, how was I supposed to know you were serious? I took your hoodies to give you a hint!"
He let out a long sigh before he bursted into laughter. Now you were confused.
"What are you laughing at?" you asked, wiping away your tears with the edge of the sleeve.
"We're both hopeless causes when it comes to love, ain't we?" he chuckled.
Your mind eased at the thought.
"Now get married!" both you and Kaminari shot up at the sound of Mina's yell that came from her balcony.
You both laughed, you missed your long and honest talks with Denki, and you only realized that more when you spent the rest of the night in your room.

Starlight Comics - Dick Grayson x Reader
Synopsis: Dick and Starlight get closer, while Bruce decides what to do with her.
Warning: just vague references, mostly just fluff really.
Issue 3 - Wayne
Dick knocked excited on Starlight's door, after everything that had happened the day before; he just wanted to be by her side more. She looked so helpless after accepting Alfred's help and even after getting out of the suit, Bruce still seemed to scare her.
He worried again as she didn't answer.
Deciding it was better to just get inside, he opened the door only to discover she wasn't there, the empty and still neat bed suggesting she hadn't slept in the room at all.
She run away! He thought running towards the open window, hoping that if she had decided to go away, she had not gone far. So he could bring her back.
Before he could scream for her, however, he suddenly found her face right in front of him.
She was upside down, flying in outside in his borrowed clothes and looking perplexed at him. He sighed in relief and she seemed even more confused.
"You already saw me flying," she said matter-of-factly and he laughed.
"So flying is what you do? No wind manipulation?" she shrugged, still in the same position.
"I guess, that's what they would call it." he smiled, she wasn't quite open about what had been done to her, but he could figure out and so would try to reassure her.
"It's pretty incredible." she turned in mid-air, looking at him in a standing position now, she still had that questioning look but he didn't need to wait long to find out why.
"You look different." that made him laugh, she was talking about his clothes, out of the Robin costume, he probably looked weird to her.
"Had to change, wouldn't want to let people know my secret." he sat on the window, getting closer to her as she looked at him, eyes glinting.
"Secret?" she asked interested in him.
"That I'm a hero." he grinned at her, Bruce would talk about not revealing it to anyone, but he felt she could be trusted and that she belonged there with them.
"That means saving people." it only took a nod from his part and she smiled, it was her second smile since arriving and he liked that he had been the one to cause it.
"Why do you do it? Do you gain something?" she crossed her legs, still in the air, now asking as excited as he was.
"No but because people need it" she felt as his humor changed, he was still trying to be playful, most likely for her sake, but it felt forced "My parents died not too long ago because of criminals and I want to help others like me and..."
His voice cracked and she knew memories had to be creeping in, her night had been the same, if he was like her, maybe she could help him the way he did her.
She extended her hand to him and smiled, trying her best to be reassuring and once he realized what she was doing, he smiled again and took her hand.
He did not expect her to push him.
Dick screamed before he felt the wind move around them as they flew to the roof, he observed as the ground became farther away and looked back at her, she had a concentrated expression and he wondered if it was alright for her to carry him, she was still weak from DDSG mistreatments.
She left him in the roof safely, sitting on the edge, looking contentedly at the scene in front of her.
"I had never seen so many different things before" she looked to him amazed and he sat by her side.
"Did you sleep here?" he asked concerned but she surprised him by nodding excitedly.
"I had never been this free in my life!"
"I saw the starlight! And the city lights!" she continued to list all the things she'd seen since the night before and he listened to everything, her enthusiasm contagious.
But she paused in the middle, looking perplexed again.
"I don't know your name" he fell back laughing, she looked so confused and he worried but instead it was that.
"I'm Dick Grayson," he told her taking her hand and shaking it, she looked so confused at him again, he could only laugh at her again.
She decided she would try to understand him another day, so she just smiled "So, it's Dick and Starlight then"
He smiled at her and nodded.

Bruce observed the two children when Alfred spoke from behind him.
"Seem master Grayson is getting along with the miss"
Bruce grumbled an affirmation before continuing "It will be good for her, she could lose control and..."
"Master Bruce" the butler interrupted him softly "It's more than that no? Seems as they shall be good friends"
He looked back at the monitor of the roof camera, the kids talking enthusiastic to each other, Dick had quickly liked her and she only felt truly comfortable near him.
Bruce turned to Alfred, realizing what the man wanted him to see.
"You think I should keep her here"
Alfred simply looked at the two children on the screen, unapologetic.
"She needs a home and peace after what she has been through" he sighed, bringing Dick had been a thing, but could he really help her overcome her past, that really sounded like a joke.
"The DDSG took her in as a baby according to what you found, sir," the butler explained, he had seen her files too and looking at him in the eyes he continued "Even after your researches, you know, she doesn't have a home anymore"
"Besides, separating them now would not be good for either of them"
______________________________________
Dick continued talking about his life in the circus as the girl looked at him, eyes shining at all the things she didn't know. Until in the midst of describing the performances they would do left his neck exposed, the bandaging reminding her that she hurt him.
Her feet quietly touching the roof of the mansion, her face hidden under her hair.
"Is something wrong?" Dick asked, he had felt they were connecting, why was she hiding away again.
"I hurt you," she whispered, hugging her arms, trying to make herself smaller "I didn't want to, but I did, don't you hate me?"
He sat down and asked to sit with him, as he did the day before.
"Not at all, I like your powers!" he told her, looking into her eyes when she turned towards him, not yet out of her shell.
"Could you show me?"
She nodded, not trusting herself not to cry or shout again, so she closed her eyes and focused as she had learned.
A small flame played around them, like a dance, while the wind picked up not only beside them but in the garden too, the sound of the trees like music.
Starlight opened her eyes and saw his blue ones looking around them in amazement, seeing it she gave it more power, the flame grew and she carefully kept it away from him, their clothes flapping as the air picked up strength.
She flew above him and tried to replicate the acrobatics he told her about, with poor results but he didn't seem bothered about it so she just continued, hearing his laugh.
"Did you liked it?" she asked
He nodded excitedly.
"You know, there are others like you, with powers, like Wally and..."
______________________________________
Bruce sighed and looked back at the screen and saw that the two were no longer there but he didn't need to worry for long as both came running into the cave.
"Something is wrong?" he asked getting up.
Dick just shook his head and smiled, showing the balls he was now holding, she had the same expression as him and it surprised Bruce, she hadn't been so incautious with him before.
"Look!"
Dick threw the balls and she used her powers to spin them around, if you didn't look close it was as if she spinning all of them herself.
They then started talking about all the things they could try before Alfred chimed in, telling them to only do it outside the house and that "throwing Dick into the air with high-pressure air was not a good idea".
They left as fast as they came and Alfred approached him again.
"Are you still worried about her?"
Bruce had initially planned to start on another case but as he sat down again he knew there was something else he had to do before.
"We will need to contact the press before they assume too much and while she has good control over her powers," he said as he typed on the computer, erasing her past with the DDSG, changing it to that of a girl orphaned as a baby "but she will need to learn how to hide them from the public, she would be too much of a target otherwise."
But as he filled her new files even Alfred was surprised.
"Wayne, sir?"
He looked at the words on the screen and felt that it was the right decision.
"She will need a surname"
______________________________________
A/N: Hello people! I had initially planned to make reader surnameless, but it didn't felt quite right to me, so I just made her a Wayne! Does it bother you?
And this way she becomes the first to be adopted (snubbing...Jason? I read that he was the first, but that was pre or post-crisis? Because I've also seen Tim as the first...so unsure, sigh)
Finally, the fluff has begun! There will be more tragedy as we go along (for obvious reasons) but for now enjoy the next very fluffy adventures (I'm not the best at comedy, but I will try!)
You might have noticed, Bruce doesn't talk, or act, or do much, it's just that my comic Batman knowledge goes: death in the family(looove it), the new 52 (which is not great as this is a reboot, but not really because people didn't super like it from what I understand, so they sort of rebooted again but not really because now it sort of has some of the good of both before and after 52? Dunno, comics logic confuses the hell out of me sometimes), Batman and Robin (or this goes with the new 52 category?), son of the demon (is this still non-canon, I've seen it said both ways so I'm not sure) and a shit ton of youtube. As you see, not a lot of early Batman, basically my official comic knowledge of Dick as Robin comes from Batman and Robin eternal (is that bad?). Anyway, will try to do that better.
I'm not super sure of this chapter (for all the reasons I just explained) so I just hope you guys like it!p.s: remember what I talked about them singing? It is mostly for the later chapter, it's just that I don't know how OOC that could be, so just letting it known from the beginning, also, it's like random musical but rather look who's talking (the scene of the kitchen).

Misc: My profile theme, music, and my identity (+ about 1000 other things..)
Definitely wouldn't be offended if this an easy skip for most. It is.. a hot mess, long and not particularly interesting. If you ain't supremely bored, you probably'd be better off not being curious on this one T^T
But hey I did enjoy writing it and I'm sure someday I at the very least will enjoy reading this so for me that's enuff boxes checked off to post 🤷♀️
This is another long post ngl. I've been on and off (mostly on 😭) writing since I woke up at like 11 am and its now 11pm. I wrote a few diff things so this one aint 12 full hours of writing or anything but I will admit it has been a long ass time on this one. Sorry in advance. i always seem to write a lot a lot when shit gets bumpy with R. Not even between us necessarily and the junk I be writing about don't be about her at all half the time I just be overexplaining and randomly going from topic wayyyyy worse than normal for some reason. I genuinely do not know why I'm like this bruh I used to write a little whiny vent note here and there pre R but now if i don't have one strict topic I'm talking/explaining I will write about any and everything that comes to mind as I'm going.
Oh god.. Me bringing this up reminds me of when she first said we had to talk less and I went nuts. That shit was so ghetto I deadass got fucked up on dxm so I'd stop freaking out over her dipping then DURINGGG the high I realized I was in love. I think after prolly.. 4ish hours of being like uh.. yeah there's no reason for me to be that damn tore up over us simply not talking as often... or her going through a breakup...... literally figured it out at the worst possibly time. THEN I was worried I just felt that way cause of the high so I just started writing everything out figuring like it'd wear off at some point when I was writing so I could see how I talked about it all throughout.
...which led me to write for damn near 24 hours straight....
I literally didn't sleep, eat, or do literally anything else for at least a good 16ish hours then took a small break cause I had to put away groceries and i got a single thing of pita bread, ate that shit plain, then got back to it. Lord looking back on that is so weird. I don't know what possessed me bruh I think I took another break around the 24 hour mark, either ate or sat there thinking for prolly.. an hour? 30 mins? Then did ANOTHER 12 hours of babbling. I had been using that notes app for literal years with no issue. But ofc.. all that time of writing straight had it crash on me a few times with one time wiping hourssss of writing. I wasn't saving all too often not thinking nothing of it but that shit crashed and I lost like 36k chars worth of junk and that changed ASAP. Plus.. I learned the shit had an 100k limit... so that was fun.
See? Overexplaining and RAMBLING. Deadass went from writing a quick head's up on the length of this post to talking about my weird ass drug induced love note shit. Why am i like this. ;-;
Anyway. Past this point is past me. Sorry for getting carried away in the warning
I wrote about this in a previous post but essentially, some random got the wrong idea and thought I was using Juice as my pfp as some sort of mockery? joke? i dunno
shits totally understandable and I'm sure anyone would figure out that ain't my intention after looking at my page for about .2 seconds. i mean.. if I were using him as the butt of some sort of joke you'd figure I'd mention it or something lol. Maybe that's only obvious to me though..
Anyway, I may change it to something new. I usually change my pfps for stuff fairly frequently if I'm on it a lot. When me and R were on the phone 24/7 I used to change my disc pfp at least 2-3 times within a 2 week period 😭
I dunno though I mean.. on one hand I don't really want this page to have all too many of my interests on it as for one I'm trying to stay at least semi anonymous but also I feel like it'd kinda be odd.. The Juice profile pic is one thing, as I listen to him all the damn time and I relate to a lot of his work. But I dunno.. wouldn't it be weird if I suddenly just changed my profile picture to a character that I like just cause they're cool? Wouldn't my page be more memorable if I have like. MY pfp MY username MY bio. Sorry it's hard to explain..
Like.. youtubers. They usually have a pfp and they keep it as that same one and people remember and recognize them off it. Or a few other types of influencers honestly. I feel like it's one thing when it's a personal acc where you really don't need people to recognize you off your pfp or user cause they'd just know you but my acc is kinda a grey area. I know damn well I ain't an influencer but I ain't exactly someone you'd just remember.
Maybe I'll compromise and only use Juice pictures.. I dunno
Speaking of Juice, I feel like now that I've been getting worse and worse his music became so much more relatable. I can't tell you how many times I've cried with my earbuds blaring 27 club. I wish I could share it all. I've never been a huge stickler for lyrics but growing up and going from understanding the story of a song to relating and living though the situations described has hit me so hard. I'm sure it ain't exactly a unique experience but still. It'd be cool to share my music and be able to talk about how I use each playlist and what it makes me think/feel
I would just link my spotify and keep it moving but ya know. More puzzle pieces of my identity
I think if I ever permanently kick the habit I might reveal myself but thats honestly a strooong maybe. I dunno like it aint so much of being ashamed/embarrassed of my addiction. Although, I won't exactly go around telling any and everyone I'm addicted to fucking otc allergy meds. i think R is the only one that knows specifically that I take dph. Everyone else I either never mention getting high or if I have I've only talked about weed highs. It just feels embarrassing given it's horrible hallucinatory effects on most people. While I don't get those, how th would they know that you know? 9 times out of 10 they're gonna google that shit, see mfs talking about having ghost conversations and the gosh dang hatman, then gon look at me crazy for continuing to take it over and over again. So yeah definitely a big factor, but I am honestly more worried about some concerned stranger finding my social media and telling my family/friends about this page or about my problem. That is my worst fear.
For one, this page is basically a diary. I go into specifics on shit that I would never tell anyone. Not that I'm particularly tooo ashamed of the shit I say about my personal life but
-A lot of it is not meant to be shit that just anyone knows. It's one thing when I'm just writing to the abyss/random strangers that wouldn't know who I'm talking about but if my family/friends were able to access this I'd have to be so much more guarded and careful about what I say on here cause they could more than likely guess or already know who I'm talking about
-Some of it is shit that I never want to discuss. I don't think I went too in detail on family dynamics but I don't even wanna bother opening that can of worms I'd rather pretend with everyone else that there is no issue and just do me once I leave
-Plus a lot of it is hypercritical shit I shouldn't even be thinking, let alone talking about. Just imagine finding out that one of your friends was out here telling everybody and they grandma that your boyfriend fucking sucks and you are clearly being blinded by their love for them? Or talking about how you know they won't last? Just like.. okay for one, even if they were right, you're not going to see it that way. You're gonna be questioning why they were doubting your relationship first and foremost but then I mean.. who wants to hear that? They're probably gonna tell you less about it and it'll strain yalls relationship, if not end it right then and there. Then by the time you can see it for what it is, it's 3 years later and it'd be awkward to become friends again
It does suck though. It would be real cool to make friends with someone cause of all my word vomit filled posts. I would love to show everyone all the shit I like to do in my freetime and beg everyone them cat/dog/literally pet pictures. Plus like, I dunno ever since R's been in my life I've learned to love any and all types of friendship
I used to be so offended when I'd have friendships that I only can get so close with. I'm so used to putting my all into all friendships and making sure to do whatever I can for them as long as it ain't hella inconvenient cause I always assumed that because I do, they'd do the same. But after seeing friendship after friendship fading as soon as I wasn't doing all that I used to be so mad. I felt like an outcast. But I think going through that time where my bsf and I were constantly texting or otp it made me a lot less available as far as doing all that extra to maintain friendships. I would be so focused on her I would damn near forget about talking with anyone. But even once we had to distance from each other some, I was still used to how I treated my other friends
I tried to cling to my less close friends trying to create that 100% on both sides thing but it kinda got.. hard. Ofc, the inevitable mental comparisons were nonstop. Literally couldn't breathe without thinking oh but if me and R were doing this I'd be comfy doing this or oh my god this game is borin if R were here we would prolly be doing our own thing by now and just talk instead or bruh I am literally on hour 459 of bubbly me if R was here I could probably get away with listening to whatever was going on in the background that day 💀💀💀
After I started doing that and started understanding my feelings, I kinda saw that I didn't even really want that sort of comfort with anyone else cause I didn't want them to expect all that and put me in a position where if me and my bsf started to talk more I'd be putting them on the backburner out of nowhere. I didn't think it would be fair of me you know? i don't want them to feel abandoned and unless Im in a place where I feel comfortable to not have to be one specific way with you I would prefer being alone anyway.
But feeling that way now made me see that it didn't really have to be one or the other. I've seen that no one really minded when I responded a bit late cause I was busy with R. And I would run to her with all my emotion stuff so I wasn't all too bothered if they never inquired about mine. And thennnnn I randomly got this dm from this girl I talked to when I was still at my dorm and that's when I really learned the joy of that shit
Hm ig you wouldn't really need to know specifics on that for the point I was tryna make. Maybe I'll talk about her someday. But yeah it was just so nice like. Hey I don't need you to be savior mode, human notepad mode, or hehe haha everything funny mode 24/7. We aren't close and you and I both know that. We can just have our fun when we happen to remember each other's existence and come back 8 mo later like nothing ever happened
Don't get me wrong, I love R so much and I love that we go out the way to talk to each other every day no matter what. It makes me feel really good to know that even with us not being able to be as close with each other now she still makes sure we don't lose contact with each other. Things are really different now and ofc I still miss how it was before but knowing that we can both acknowledge that our friendship had to change but still caring enough for each other to put in the effort to evolve into something else rather than letting it all go because it aint the same is something that is so precious. I wouldn't trade that for the world. But at the same point I've grown to love casual friends sm.
It's nice to not always worry about how they're gonna think if i do xyz or I don't reach out every so and so many days. I don't always need to hide or do the absolute most to maintain the friendship we can just enjoy each others company for a bit then go back on our separate ways til we reach out again. No hard feelings if we ignore a text or answer late cause we genuinely have no idea what we do on the day to day. And the pressure of only being one specific way with them gets lesser and lesser the longer yall stay apart inbetween. I think the biiggest example of that is this one long term but shallow friendship with this one girl I met in 9th grade that one year I lived in arizona.
I used hate that since I just got there she had all these older friends that she would talk diff to and generally be more close with. I thought once I moved back to Michigan we'd stop talking after a year or two and we weren't all tooo close so I didn't think nothing of it. But then I think like.. prolly 8ish months after that we started talking talking then we stopped. Then prolly another 6 mo later we did it again. And we just kept on doing that again and again and again. It used annoy me cause it felt like she only would remember my existence to tell me about her breaking up with one dude and getting with another or house drama or all that junk. It didn't help that she joked about my life being dry allllll the damn time too so I felt like she only talked to me to judge me and tell me all this shit as if I was supposed to gawk at all of it cause I didn't do anything intresting in her opinion. It didn't help that I never really felt comfortable telling her about any fr fr struggles i was having cause of how I thought she perceived me
It all came to a head when she got mad at me for pointing out that cycle one of these days. I think she texted me soon soon after all that shit with R was going down so I was salty already offrip. She usually starts texting first talking about some bruhhh YOU NEVER TEXT MEEE which this time was a lie. When we got back cool cool a few months back we started to taper off again. This time tho I made sure to text more often during that thinking things would ramp back up if I put more effort into showing I didn't forget her. It didnt really help as she was being dry 95% of the time so I stopped after like a month. I said that and kinda passive aggressively said that we do this all the time lets just get to the catching up part. Which was true but at the same point, so rude. I was still under that impression that she was gonna judge me and I felt like I had so much to look down on so I just was overly defensive and hostile for no damn reason
We skipped talking that time around which was honestly fair. I thought we'd never talk again after that and I forgot it even happened ngl. But then like 2 mo later she reached out again and with my new perspective on friendships I really saw it for what it was. I mean sure, she can be kind of a dick sometimes and she is kinda a magnet for drama at times cause she is pretty impulsive at times which leads her to speak before she thinks on shit but like.. she never means any harm you know? And plus, she is so caring bruh. Literally would do whatever she needs to for her friends. I genuinely forgot this happened but when my old job fired me for not attending this mandatory meeting on my day off (a blessing in disguise tbh I was thinking about quitting anyway) she was SWIFTTT to do a fake review on they shit. I'm sitting there like bruh chill it aint even that deep and by the time I got that out she already wrote a damn review saying they had shitty customer service (which was actually true lmao), racist ass manager (lowkey true as well 💀💀💀) and they ice cream be tasting like CARBOARD (now that I couldn't even support they shit be good good T^T)
Getting close with R and slowing down to where we are now showed me there's alot more to friendship's than opening up about each and every secret you've ever had you know? I still consider R my best friend, even with us not talking as much, both us not being as open, or us not hanging out as much. That all sounds like we don't even like each other more damn wth. LOOKKKK. Sure, there are times where I'm jealous and salty about how things are. And ofc I'm still mad that I KNOW she will get butthurt if I watch aggretsuko with someone else even though I have literally been pestering her about that shit for HALF THE DAMN YEAR. And at times she's overly territorial over me and I be sliiightly tempted to do shit just to watch her show out and other times she'll say the dumbest shit about herself that makes me wish I could teleport to her with a rolled up newspaper in tow.. But like, at the end of the day she knows me better than anyone ever has and I know her in a lot of ways that people don't understand. We're super similar and relieving to know that you know? At the end of the day I know that no matter what she'll be there for me and she trusts me to do the same for her which hasn't changed, even with how shit is now, her effort trumps everything.
Which is something I've grown to appreciate a lot more in general. Ofc including on and off friends like the girl from AZ. It grew to make a lot of the small annoying habits of hers feel a lot diff. I noticed how we really never had an awkward easing back in stage.
Every time, without fail we start with
damn you DONT TEXT MEEE!! DO YOU NOT LIKE ME ???
>:U
*insert defense junk*
yeah yeah I dont wanna HEAR IT 🙄
Then boom we get to catching up. Plus 99% of the time she got a game she wanna play. We usually just go to that then continue on talking and junk for a few days. At max a week and a half. I'll send a message here and there and she be DRY so I stop and then we dip for another few months.
It's so weird to think about honestly. We've been friends for 5ish years now. I only have one other long term friend as my years of moving back and forth led most to forget I existed and I met him in 7th. I dunno to me her and him were completely different in my mind cause of the frequency and nature of our convos. But it's just like.. nowadays I tear up thinking about them sometimes. Sure they got they own pros and cons but at the end of the day, they're consistent. We've all changed a lot throughout the years and I know they've met soooo many people that'll probably not die off the face of the earth every two seconds and I'm sure they both have friends they're a lot closer with but they still bothered to keep in touch even when it woulda been hella easy to just move on
Bruh thinking about it now got me tearing up (...as you can see I've been drinking water today 🙃) They may not be the first people I think to go to when shit gets rough but they've made it clear that they care about me for more than what I can do for them and that is mooooore than enough for me. I hope I keep them around forever. I try to be a lot better on checking in on em nowadays. I'm not amazing with that shit still and I still'll go weeks without speaking but uh. We getting there T^T
Though AZ girl is the reason I say bruh so much.. I hate her for that TO THIS DAY. she used to say breh and bruh after every sentence and it would make the shit she be saying 20000x funnier. I tried to steal it for jokes too but then it just start slipping out and now I prolly say it more than she ever did ANDD she don't even say it like that no more 😭
...
I went on so hard of a tangent I literally forgot what I brought this shit up for.. I had to go back up and reread it's been like 6 hours since I said that junk 💀💀💀
SEE like talking with me is fun on one hand cause as long as we aint sitting there making small talk we gon go through about 70 billion topics within 5 mins but then on the other if you had something to say about a topic we already went past??
gl.
T_T
All that was all to say that I've grown to really appreciate distant but consistent friendship. To me, it at times shows a lot more care and appreciation than having someone listen to you rant about xyz. Cause I mean, it's kinda easy to not be a dick and listen but it takes effort to keep coming back no matter what we talked about.
Damn do you think I should give the girl from AZ a name?
Nah I kinda like that long ass name for her lmao
But look at her. I barely spoke to her for months and I basically swatted her away when she was just tryna catch up and look at us. Well. We in an off period rn..
OO actually she said she loved me the last time we were on the phone and I said it back thinking that she possibly was talking to someone else but just incase you know. BUT SHE GOT SO HAPPY BRUH OMGG
Shit was so sweet. I would say it more often if it didn't wear off the novelty so quick
But yeah like look at that. I've barely told her about any of my struggles and 5 years later we're still just as close. I can't even count how many people I've heard detailed and long rants from that just dipped from my life once they were doing better off and by the time they got back in that mindset they've already either forgot about me or think it'd be too awkward to get back in touch. Not to say it's easy to talk about that stuff, cause it aint. But venting to a complete random is not exactly risky either. I feel like it honestly has lost it's effect on me nowadays. I would rather have 400 distant and shallow friendships that last for years and years and years than the 400 deep and super relatable friends that just disappear once they find greener pastures.
I hope that someday I'll feel comfortable revealing my identity on here. I didn't mean to imply that any possible friendships from this are gonna be shallow by default ofc. More so was saying I'm a lot more open minded about a lot of different sorts of relationships you know? I wanna explore more types like.. as soon as humanly possible atp T-T
Anywho uh. I think that's enough vaguely pointed rambling for one post. Very sorry to future me reading this. I know you prolly gon wanna stomp me out for always leaving you so damn much to read..
me is withdrawing atp soooo I'm either gon try and sleep the shit off or get to solving that 💀
gn/gm depending on when youre reading this. I hope youre doing okay
