on the parallels between mina and narumi as captains - putting their faith in ostracised troop members for the sake of the defense force

mina putting her faith in hoshina, recruiting him into her division despite all that’s been about him and his swordsmanship; how he’s doomed to fail with the changing times and inability to utilise firearms well

and it’s very evident with the latest arc that his growth is incredible, how he’s taken his captain’s words to heart and used the one chance nobody else thought to give him and proving his worth

her faith in him surely has only gotten stronger the moment he rose to vice-captain, and when she’s moments from getting attacked - hoshina is there to cut down attack like he swore to

similarly with narumi and kafka, he puts his trust in him (albeit on the condition that if kafka were to lose control, narumi will kill him) very similar to how isao put his faith in narumi despite everybody’s opinions

they carry the regret of isao’s death on their shoulders and narumi trains kafka, helping him get stronger when asked

and of course - as the person who’s been training with him, narumi too has faith in kafka and whilst on the verge of death knew he wouldn’t give up so easily
