Hi oMuStIiA ! I love your AMVs, the quality of its and the movement you creat :) Your videos are a reference for me. I also make AMVs but they are not as good as yours :p I wanted to know wich software you use and wich plugins/presets :) I like Premiere Pro but a lot of transitions dont looks great on it so i have to complete with After Effects. Maybe Vegas is better ? I wait for your answer :)
Thank you! I’m sure your amvs are better than you think they are ;)
I use Sony vegas pro, when I first started editing with Vegas I think I used 11.0 and I’ve used each new version from then up until now. I’m currently using 17.0, but I may upgrade to 18.0 at some point. For now I can’t speak for that version or what extra stuff it has, so that’s something to keep in mind. After Effects has a lot of effects that neither Premier nor Vegas have atm, and while Vegas does have a lot of (expensive) plugins you can get to make up for some of the differences, there are still some features that only AE has. Mocha for example makes masking a lot easier in Vegas and uses predictive masking that’s really useful for panning shots among other things (not to mention you can draw with it which is handy if you have an art tablet like me), but none of the time related plugins nor the twixor plugin for Vegas are quite as good as AE for converting clips to 60 fps/slow motion.
These days I actually don’t use a whole lot of presets or plugins. The only thing I use consistently is a very slight adjustment with color corrector (just a small adjustment in the saturation, not the colours) and lab adjust (a slight adjustment in lightness and channel B). I don’t remember which video tutorial I learned it from, but it makes everything look more crisp and vibrant imho. But I sometimes play around and adjust it depending on the clip. Aside from that everything I use is on a video by video basis, and it usually involves tailoring a variety of effects to get a specific look or atmosphere, rather than using any presets.
I can’t say whether any editing program is better than another, because for me what works is based a lot on my work flow and what I’m used to using. Some day I do want to figure out how to use AE better, because there are times where I’d like to use effects exclusive to it, but I find Vegas easy and quick to edit with which is why I haven’t delved into other software much yet.
Hope that answers some of your questions!
