My pal in OFMD obsession @roxyrondell tagged me in this game:
List five of your favorite movies in a poll so your followers can pick which movie they think best fits your vibe! (I'm actually going to annotate my movie list this time, because I think it's useful and because I want other people to see these.)
Desk Set: Professional know-it-all meets the computer guru she thinks is training a device to replace her and her colleagues. IMO, the best of the Hepburn-Tracey movies because it's the one that doesn't insist on taking KH's character down a peg. It's a love letter to researchers and people with steel-trap brains, and also to collaborative projects.
The Watermelon Woman: Mockumentary about a Black filmmaker finding her forebears in cinema, made by a Black filmmaker who had to create those forebears imaginatively in this project, because while they certainly existed, no one thought to record anything about them.
Roger and Me: Documentary about the inaccessibility of people who make economic decisions to the people impacted by those decisions. Also a parable about the value of being annoying. Pairs nicely with The Grapes of Wrath.
Muppet Treasure Island: Tim Curry chews scenery, Muppets muppet on the high seas, soundtrack slaps ass. Silly and infinitely quotable.
Amélie: Lonely and socially anxious woman turns to a life of meddling and petty revenge instead of asking directly for what she wants. So relevant to my life that I am honestly insulted. Also has one of the most gorgeous color palettes and a soundtrack I wrote most of a book to.
I never know who to tag, so I'm just picking on people who've been in my mentions recently. Please, no pressure-- only do this if it would be fun for you. @crimson-and-clover-1717 @careful-knives @some-anonymity-preferred @along-the-coast @swashbuckling-sweethearts
