Thoughts on JJK chapter 269 (spoilers)
Tumblr media
(TCB still doesn't have their own translation but some parts of this need to be cross checked with more translations. I'll do that tomorrow.)
We start the chapter with an ominous flashback that brings Mei Mei to an old woman before we make a hard cut back to where we left off last chapter
To my pleased surprise Yuta managed to get his body back though truth be told I did NOT understand the minute details on how that happened. Need to read up on that.
Megumi still feels the aftereffects of Gojo's UV that had crippled Sukuna's DE. This could mean Megumi himself will have trouble expanding his domain but would that be a short term problem or possibly even a long term problem 👀
(Way back when, I had also made a speculative post that Gojo's UV that hit Megumi's soul might've left Megumi with Gojo's ultimate knowledge from all his life but that doesn't seem to be a thing in the end.)
Tumblr media
The first years are told not to feel guilty about anything and to be teenagers again. This echoes what Gojo said in the beginning on how children should be able to enjoy the spring of their youth.
Tumblr media
We learn then how Yuta survived: because of Rika who independently kept his body alive. When Kenjaku's CT burned out after Yuta used Gojo's DE, he should've died because he couldn't keep the connection to Gojo's body.
Kenjaku shouldve had the same problems but they speculate that he circumvented that with barrier techniques.
Now comes the part where I need better translations because what's said here is too confusing: which CT recovered and was Yuta now dead or unconscious when Kenjaku's CT burned out?
The next question is: how did his consciousness end up back in his body? All this time I thought Kenjaku transferred his entire brain from body to body but that's not the case apparently? 😄
Also, the biggest question right now: what happened to Gojo's body?
I made a speculative post on how this body hopping through Kenjaku's CT might actually end up reviving Gojo.
The main point for that theory is that Kenjaku revives the bodies he transfers into. Second and third points are that the revival is a one time thing and isn't bound to the continuous use of the CT (speculation) and that Yuta "dies" through the end of the CT and through other means
Tumblr media
Say what you will but this about Miguel and Larue was extremely funny but also give Larue some respect, Sukuna was in love with him for a few seconds.
The part where everyone discusses their battle strategies is interesting. Gege does sth here I have done while writing fanfics as well: acknowledging how varied and complicated the choices in the plot where and have the characters discuss it.
This gives the chain of events that did end up happening in the end a grounded feel and here it also gives the characters room to interact with each other.
My complaint about these scenes are that they downplay Sukuna's threat and power
Talking about what they should've done differently and how they could've won more easily is ok, but for me this entire conversation was too couched in "we won because of course we did, this was easy but it could've been easier"
Higuruma is alive though but I had that on my bingo card already, his apparent death was pretty vague
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a funny reveal how the watch room was Rika this entire time, and apparently Yuta/Maki is basically canon
We also learn that it was indeed Miwa who clung to Maki and used Simple Domain against Sukuna to stop his MS. Todo managed to get her and Maki out with his CT at the end.
Without Ui Ui the battle would've been lost, so he really is the MVP
Tumblr media
Now comes the part about the New Shadow Style: Simple Domain that was interesting but also added unneeded elements into the story this late in the manga
Some parts of this was mentioned previously like how you made a Binding Vow to learn NSS. There was a woman in a wheelchair once that resembled Miwa in parts who was probably one of those people who's lifespan was sapped away by the Shadow Head.
But did we really need to give this so much panel time? I guess with the mention of Tengen (who was apparently the one who told the good guys who the Shadow Head was) we'll go back to what happened to her and the merger in the next chapter.
Tumblr media
What we also got was commentary on how JJ society hindered itself from becoming better because of the greed of people who wanted more power.
Mei Mei speaks of sorcerers who could've survived with Simple Domain and she probably means Nanami. Their stories in Shibuya acted like foils to each other (without that or them being in conflict with each though) so it's relevant to Nanami what she said here.
Overall I think some parts of this chapter should've been cut so close to the finish, especially when this really is the end of the manga. I still have hope for Part 2 though, this chapter was (as I expected) ambiguous about that happening or not.

NOW PLAYING
CLUB: PROLOGUE
You’re a dancer at the most infamous, exclusive club in Tokyo, & you happen to be in very high demand. When your boss hands you your list of clientele this week, you’re not sure how you’ll make it out on the other side. You’ll just have to hope they take it easy on you. . .
starring: you <3
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
“Shiu, how am I supposed to do this? I mean, these guys are like famous,” you whine, looking up, up, up, at your boss. God, he was tall.  You felt confident in taking almost any guy to bed with you, but these were some of the most famous sorcerers in the entire world. You hadn’t met most of them, but you certainly knew of them. He'd done this to you on purpose, that was the only explanation you could even consider: why else would you be fucking 6 of the most revered jujutsu sorcerers in the world? A better question might be why they were coming to a strip club to get their action; you imagined they could have any woman they want. Who knows how your boss had advertised you. . .probably as some crazy sex goddess.
“‘Dunno, princess, but knowing you, I’m sure you’ll figure somethin’ out, huh?” he peered at you, oh so meanly. You brushed passed him, obviously displeased with his answer. He was right, though, you’d just have to figure it out.
Shiu Kong owned the exclusive little club you danced at, which might also have something to do with why your upcoming week looked like it did: he was acquaintances with handfuls of sorcerers, apparently even the really good, really hot ones. Typically, you put on a couple hourly shows a few nights a week, & went home, underwear stuffed with tips. But seven nights in a row, with a lineup of men that only appeared in your dreams. . .no way were you making it out alive.
You’d seen some of them before, but you were a burlesque dancer, not for hire, so it didn’t really matter if you recognized them or if they recognized you. But stupid Shiu, he’d decided to up the ante. You’d offhandedly made a comment about how much money he’d make if he opened up his cutesy burlesque club to more. . .serious customers, or rather paying customers. Of course, they had to pay an entrance fee, & alcohol was quite expensive, but they weren’t required to tip the dancers or the waitresses, not if they didn’t want to. But “you could charge them like, tons of money, Shiu. These guys are crazy rich, & I’m sure they’d love a little action, no strings attached.”
You’d been right, of course, you were always right, but your intention had not been for Shiu to advertise you as the action they would be paying for. You should’ve expected this, really, when had he ever made your life easier?
It’s just seven days, you reminded yourself. The contract you’d signed only stated that you owed him seven days of this little charade. You wouldn’t agree to more. . .not unless you wanted to, of course. However, after the week was up, you weren’t sure you would be coming back to work at all.
You sighed, making your way through the back of the bar, head down, staring at the absurd list Shiu had given you. The lineup was as follows:
Monday night, 8:30pm: Choso Kamo. You chortled a little at this. Who schedules a lap dance for 8:30pm? How old was this guy, 80? I mean, the club opened at 8:00, it was practically going to be empty besides the workers. $250 - 1 hour.
Tuesday night, 11:00pm: Hiromi Higuruma. Oh, fuck you, Shiu. The cheeky little bastard had scribbled next to your client’s name, “Massage therapy.” $400 - 1 hour.
The next one seemed to be the most normal of the list. Wednesday night, 10:15pm sharp. The little note he’d left emphasized the 'sharp'. Okay, this guy had a schedule to keep, you could respect that, considering you also had a schedule to keep, though you doubted they were very similar. Kento Nanami, oral sex. Yeah, this would be a cakewalk; it would certainly not be the first time you’d sucked a guy off, & wouldn’t be the last. You were ceaselessly amazed at the prices of each night, getting steeper & steeper. You couldn't fathom being willing to pay such money for sex; in fact, not even real sex, just parts of it. Plus, you didn't really know how to make a blowjob last for 90 minutes. Not like this guy would even last half that anyways, right? $500 - 2 hours.
Thursday night, 9:45pm: Kiyotaka Ijichi. Now this one was puzzling. Under the services section, as Shiu had so aptly titled it, was “whatever she wants to do to him.” I guess the poor guy just couldn’t make up his mind. $350 - 1 hour.
Friday night (morning, technically), 1:00am: Satoru Gojo & Suguru Geto. It took all the patience you had not to rip up the paper right then & there. Those assholes. Satoru & Suguru were regulars at your club, frequently standing front row, watching predatorily as you danced. & you supposed you couldn’t hate them too much because they tipped you like money grew on trees. For them, it probably did. But they always liked to push your buttons; there were rules when it came to the shows, most importantly, no touching. They didn’t listen to that one, that’s for sure. Maybe that’s what scared you about a whole night with them; they’d reserved you for four hours. $1,000 - 4 hours.
Saturday night, 12:00am: Takuma Ino, who’d left a little message for you, quote: “I don’t really know, I guess whatever she’s comfortable with.” What a cutie, if you had it in you, you’d have to show him just how much you’re comfortable with. $500 - 45 minutes.
& then the mystery. Sunday night. No name, & no services requested, just an allotment of time from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. But the club didn’t even open until 8:00. You’d have to find time to ask Shiu, though you doubted he’d have any useful information for you.
You were too busy pondering over the next 7 days that you found yourself shoving your face into the hard chest of someone else. You yelped as you bounced backward. “You oughta watch where you’re goin’, pretty thing.” You almost began to feel bad for running directly into someone, but any guilt you’d begun to feel vanished.
“Screw off, Toji.” Of course, your least favorite bartender.
“Lookin’ at your schedule, huh?” he whistles, almost apologetically, but you know him better than that. “Busy girl. Bet you’re lookin’ forward to it, huh?” It’s sneering & annoying.
“Tell that to Shiu, I’m never saying yes to him again.” Not that you’ll have the chance; you’re confident you’re not making it out of this week alive.

"Until you..." part. 10.
Hiromi Higuruma x reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Until you arrived, Hiromi Higuruma had never felt so proud of himself. He had never seen with his own eyes how he was beginning to evolve a little more each time, gradually losing his fear. He felt as if everything was perfectly aligning, yet something was missing.
You.
And although he was a logical person, he had not idealised you at any point. In fact, he would be lying if he said he didn’t feel a pang of disappointment every time he boarded the train and exchanged glances with eyes that weren’t yours.
He would be lying if he didn’t admit that he always used to feel a slight twinge of disappointment, which, over the days, became lighter.
Over the weeks, he had started focusing so intently on himself and his new routine that he wanted to see you only to make sure you were still alive. He had accepted by then that you probably had someone else or were focused on your own life.
Perhaps life had brought you into his life as motivation to change and improve.
To do it for himself. And no one else.
But let’s say that, at the same time, he would be lying if he said he didn’t want to see you. He did. As respectful as he was, he wanted to and even sometimes fantasised about future things he could say to you or talk about with you if you ever met again.
But he had also accepted that maybe you wouldn’t, and he supposed that would be all right too.
(Although not completely what he wanted).
A month and a half had passed since he had last seen you and said goodbye to you outside the city’s grand library. In that time, he had set about organising his life in a functional, healthy, and positive way.
A month and a half…
He sighed, scratching his cheek as he gazed absentmindedly out of the taxi window. “I hope Forger’s there…” he thought, frowning a little. “If he’s late, I’ll strangle him with his stupid tie.”
Hiromi was on his way to a courthouse to meet Forger, as the day of the meeting had arrived. Adjusting his tie, uncomfortable with the way it seemed to choke him, he paid the driver, opened the door, and stepped out, not forgetting his briefcase and adjusting his suit slightly.
“Hiro!” Forger called out cheerfully from behind him. Hiromi turned to see the prosecutor waving at him, stepping out of his own car.
“Forger,” Hiromi replied, looking as if he’d rather be anywhere else.
As the man approached, they began to walk together towards the courthouse in complete silence. But it seemed like Forger wanted to say something, perhaps make a comment, but Hiromi’s usual cold and indifferent facade prevented him... for now.
That was until they entered the building and began walking towards the court where the young lawyers would present their cases.
“The secretaries told me you’ve been making a few changes in your office. They mentioned hearing you moving things and carrying others out in boxes, like two plants…” the blond man commented, a half-smile on his face and his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“I didn’t know my personal matters had already become gossip for the ladies and, apparently, gentlemen of the tenement,” Hiromi replied dryly.
Forger chuckled, accustomed to his friend’s comments. “I suppose you’re doing the same in your flat, right? What’s with all the change?”
Hiromi responded this time with honesty... and his usual grumpy morning mood, triggered recently by none other than Forger. “I wanted to change things up a bit. I didn’t realise I needed your permission, Mr Prosecutor.”
Forger raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Mhm... I see. Could it be because of a woman?” Hiromi sighed dramatically and rolled his eyes. This prompted Forger to press further, clearly hurt that his friend hadn’t told him anything. “Oh, is it because of a woman!? Since when!? Oh! And you didn’t tell me!”
“Shut up, we’re in a bloody courthouse. Do you want my personal life to be part of the city’s legal gossip? God.” Hiromi grabbed Forger’s arm, pulling him closer as they walked down the rows of seats, choosing ones far away from everyone else. “No. It’s not because of a woman. All right?”
They sat down, and Forger made a small sad pout. “I thought you’d finally found someone.”
Hiromi rolled his eyes again, adjusting his suit jacket as more people filled the room. He placed his briefcase between his legs. “I will never understand your obsession with prying into my personal affairs.” Pause. “No. I haven’t met anyone—…”
But Hiromi cut himself off when his eyes landed on a particular figure. A very familiar figure.
He felt his heart skip a beat, and for a moment, he stopped breathing. He forgot entirely about Forger beside him, about everyone else in the room, about why he was there, and who he was.
When his eyes landed on you, nothing could tear them away.
He felt as though a wrecking ball had struck him hard, leaving him dazed for several minutes. He blinked repeatedly, as if trying to confirm you weren’t about to disappear. That you were real.
You were.
And you were there, just as beautiful as he remembered. Perhaps a bit taller; it must have been the heels you were wearing. You looked more elegant, and he guessed it was because you were dressed in a woman’s suit. Your hair was tied up in a style that highlighted your angelic features, and he felt his head start to spin.
And when your eyes found his...
Oh, for the love of God.
It was as if an eternity had passed since he had last seen you.
Forger nudged him to stand, and Hiromi was forced to break out of his trance, to breathe and remember he was still alive. You approached them with another woman and a man, but Hiromi looked only at you.
After your companions introduced themselves, Forger spoke up. “I’m Prosecutor Forger, and he is…”
Hiromi interrupted, extending his hand to you to greet you formally, properly. To meet you. “Hiromi Higuruma, solicitor. A pleasure to meet you, Miss…?”
You accepted his hand, giving him a small, warm squeeze that sent a shiver through his body. “Shimizu Y/N, future solicitor. The pleasure is mine.”
And until you arrived, Hiromi Higuruma had never felt so proud of himself. He had never seen with his own eyes how he was beginning to evolve a little more each time, gradually losing his fear. He felt as if everything was perfectly aligning, yet something was missing.
You.

"being dismissive with the current plot"
Bro this apparently the plot doesn't exist everytime sukuna fights other characters to them but apparently it existed when sukuna fought gojo loool.
They downplay maki a lot too. Controversial opinion but I think the uncomfortable truth is that all the angsty and deep they look on gojo it's been done better with Maki and sukuna. Gojo was born RICH, strong and beautiful, Maki was born without cursed energy and mocked for it, she and her sister were literally BULLIED! even as little girls, with Mai being done even worse, and Maki made a huge sacrifice to become stronger.
With sukuna we only got bits of him being an unwanted kid, he is probably coping convincing himself than eating his twin was planned instead of being a biological accident that made him look like that and probably despised and disliked because of it, until he found how useful his body is for jujutsu
Like the plot they request (and that they ignore anyway)would require Sukuna Heian flashback and we know they would cry seeing more sukuna (you know we can only like him when he fights gojo or before he killed Gojo)
Nice points about Maki, anon! She definitely was a fitting parallel for Sukuna and I'm sad that it has to be a lowkey controversial opinion and not one widely accepted and discussed :( That fight was incredible.
On that note, when it comes to "fitting parallels", Higuruma was considered a genius (above Gojo) by Sukuna himself so... why isn't that also talked about? Everybody surpassed Gojo so easily and yet those fans are still talking about him. I guess they really can't take the fact that their genius was just strong with words but not when it comes to proving himself, otherwise, you know... he'd still be alive.
