Hiii it’s me again! I just had this big brain idea and I figure you’d love it: Pokemon HGSS x Madoka Magica! Basically:
Lyra as Madoka
Silver as Homura
Ethan as Sayaka
Kris as Kyoko
Pokespe Red as Mami (he just has this sort of troubled mentor vibe that aligns with Mami well me thinks)
Celebi as Kyubey bc it’d be funny lmao
Angst and Soulsilvershipping is everywhere in this AU lol
i love that u specifically said pokespe red instead of game red because the pokespe version is much more cheerful haha
also OOOOOO I LOVE THIS!! silver being so dead inside and cold but so passionately desperate for kotone......i love that

Oh sorry Hibiki, I mis-spoke. What I meant was… Well, I am concerned about the police trying to arrest you. It depends if word of Kanade being a serial killer is out or not, but I’m worried about corrupt douchebags trying to arrest you for what you did under puppet state.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, my biggest worry is that Officer Kinjo would take me in for questioning at best, but...the Future Foundation actually protected me. They're handling my case from here on.
Tumblr media
But I do still feel awful about it. I might not have been in control, or remembered any of it, but...I'm still a scumbag...
Tumblr media
You really don't need to worry about that Hibiki. And neither do any of you guys.
Tumblr media
I mean, think about it! How many ex-criminals and murderers actually work in the Future Foundations upper-echelon?
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
Yeah, trust me, you are FAR from the first "sinner" that's been allowed to stay here.
Tumblr media
H-How do you mean?
Tumblr media
Uh...right, let me think about it...
Tumblr media
Leon, Hifumi, Mondo, and Kirumi all killed during the Killing Game, and Sayaka attempted murder...I'm pretty sure Byakuya has killed people before, though I'm not SURE of that...
Tumblr media
Maki is literally an ex-assassin...Gonta also killed lots of people under hypnotism, just like you...
Tumblr media
Literally everybody from Class 77, except Chiaki, so that's...Hajime, Mahiru, Nekomaru, Akane, Ryuji, Fuyuhiko, Peko, Sonia, Gundham, Teruteru, Hiyoko, Ibuki, Mikan, and Kazuichi...are all ex-terrorists who were brainwashed into helping Junko destroy the freaking world...Not to mention Hajime and Mukuro Ikusaba worked directly with her, and killed and destroyed things in her name...
Tumblr media
He's left the Future Foundation now, but the guy who taught me how to fight is...sorta kinda a vigilante serial killer that kills people he considers irredeemable, and his best buddy is part of a family known for dangerous experimentations that use human test subjects...and his girlfriend is a hitwoman...
Tumblr media
And uh...Oh yeah! Ryota tried to subjugate all of humanity, so there's that too!
Tumblr media
Also, I've...never killed people, but I've DEFINITELY tried to...haha...ha...
Tumblr media
... ... ...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...That was a lot, wasn't it?
Tumblr media
I suddenly don't feel safe here anymore!
Tumblr media
Nononono! I swear, we're all really good people! ...Now...
Tumblr media
My POINT is there's no fear in Hibiki being arrested or judged for what she's done! Nearly everybody here is in the same boat and understands. So if you ever want to open up to others, you can.
Tumblr media
Maybe you should talk about it to Gonta? Like I said, your circumstances are similar. Same goes with Mukuro. Trust me, she knows what it's like to have a maniacal twin sister.
Tumblr media
If...I get a chance, and if they're willing, I...might do that actually.

Favorite and least favorite Blazblue characters?
Yay~ finally getting to this ask. I’ve got a lot of really cool asks (thank you everyone so much) that I’ve been wanting to get to, but my health is Rather Poor, and when I do answer these things, I want to be able to put a lot of energy and attention into them.
Now, getting to the ask! I had a lot to say, and it all came out messy... and somehow, I only ended up talking about one character, Nu 13. Who fits as both one of my favorite and one of my least favorite characters, for reasons detailed below. To not make this an entire fucking novel, I'll cut the post off here and consider it an early birthday post for her.
That said, here's a quick run down of some other stuff I didn't get to talk about, relevant to your question.
My other Hated Fave is Nine/Konoe. One of those “I love the character but if we were stuck in a room together I’d maul her” situations. I consider her to be a misandrist, and I have a very charged history of like, generational reactive sexism in my family, so her generational reactive sexism (relationship with her father coloring her relationship with men overall) enrages me. On the other hand, it’s so well written, SHE’S so well written, she’s an incredible character and I adore her as an art piece. She is like a cathedral to me. The most beautiful symphony in a key you hate.
Touched on briefly in the post below, my all time absolute favorite is Terumi/Susano'o. That's a story for another day. I like him in a very particular way where he's like, the best character ever, but also he's constantly on probation. Or reverse probation? I need to see him try to kill/maim/ruin someone once a month or he's at risk of being evicted. Being the champion is a title you have to defend, y'know?
I think the character I study the most and talk about the most is Noel, although to my tastes, she's very middle of the road. I feel neutral about her. I just use her as a guinea pig for all my BB related project. You know Dangan Ronpa? How they used Sayaka and Leon as a starting point/beta test for everything? It's kind of like that, except I haven't gotten so sick of her yet that I'm killing her off or anything.
With all of that covered, allow me to get into the actual post! Thank you for your patience!
Off the top of my head at least, I can’t honestly think of BlazBlue characters I dislike. Every character that comes to mind shares something that makes me hesitant to actually claim I dislike them. That is, the characters I like the least are the characters I understand the least. Spinner Superior and the entire Bloodedge Experience cast make the list… but I haven’t read BE. Valkenhayn makes the cut- another character I really don’t pay attention to. Bullet, Hibiki, maybe Amane- all characters I really just… haven’t paid much attention to yet.
I don’t really want to claim I dislike them at this point, because when I really think about it, I’m like 99% sure that I lack interest in them BECAUSE I haven’t taken the time to look at them.
One of my hobby/goal/things in my free time is working on these BB character documents, analyzing everything I can about each character in the series for my own personal work. I have a feeling that when I get to really analyzing and writing about these characters, I’ll find things I like about them.
Here's a quick look at my files, to see what I'm talking about. Have mercy, it's very WIP.
Tumblr media
There are two characters that stand out to me in an… almost “love to hate” way, but not quite. I have a lot to say about these characters, but I’m still tired, and this post is going to be LONG as is, so I’ll try to keep it brief.
Author's Note: I fail to keep it brief.
Before BBDW, my least favorite character was DEFINITELY Nu13. Ironic, because she almost got me into BB back in the Continuum Shift days. I saw her and some of her crazy behavior and thought... well, not much, just kind of an error message in my head going “hot woman spotted.” So I looked into her, and her story!
And got bored immediately. At first I was intrigued- I love violent characters that could arguably be described as “rabid” or “feral,” but upon further inspection, she had one of the few character flaws I just can’t look past. She was absolutely static. Immutable. The only character she was willing to interact with was Ragna, and even when interacting with him, she couldn’t hear a thing he said. In my interpretation, at the time, this made her a character that couldn’t connect with the outside world in any way. To me, she was an island. Absolutely remote. And completely useless to my interests.
Tumblr media
A fear years later, a few months before the launch of Chronophantasma Extend, I ended up getting into BlazBlue anyway powered by sheer Terumi thirst. Are you guys starting to get a picture of my type yet? From then on, BB has remained my all time favorite series, and Terumi/Susano’o continues to be in my top three favorite characters, usually comfortably wearing the “#1 all time fave” crown. I suppose that answers the other half of your question.
Throughout this time, Nu still didn’t appeal to me at all. Locked in as my least favorite, definitely. Eventually, I got my college roommates into BB. One of the girls fell in absolute love with Nu. I couldn’t understand it at all. In hindsight, she’s right on every point about Nu that she likes, and I really appreciate those traits now too- but I couldn’t see it at the time. She was able to see Nu as an incredibly tragic character for the same reasons I saw her as inert. In the C-Series, Nu is alone, horribly alone, locked in her pain and her delusion. I saw that and ultimately felt she was beyond saving, but my associate felt that made her into a beautiful tragedy, a princess more worth saving than any other. Maybe I’m getting a little abstract out of nowhere here, but I now feel that’s the best way to look at Nu’s story- she’s locked away in this fairy tale delusion. Ugh, I have more to say on it, but look at how long this has gotten already!
Anyways, then BBDW came out, and Mori gave us a glimpse of what he intended to be the next step in Nu’s story. Juusan, XIII, Thirteen. And hooooooooooooly shit my guys, I absolutely love Nu, XIII, and her arc now. It’s her fucking healing arc! It’s her fucking growing arc! She’s finally able to start becoming a person, fleshing out, interacting with the world!
I’m not the type who really needs or even WANTS redemption arcs for characters, but Nu DESPERATELY needed this chapter. My biggest gripe with her, as mentioned, was that it seemed impossible for her to have any kind of relationship with ANYONE. I guess I was a little close minded- I needed to see evidence that Nu could be reached, that she could wake up from her fairy tale slumber and start really living. And we have that now, in XIII.
Looking back on the writing from the earlier games, when I hated Nu so much, I see those scenes in an entirely different light. Her first fucking scene in every route is waking up, our sleeping beauty. But she wakes up to the same dream every time. She’s put right back into her coffin, death, to dream and dream and wake and be killed again. Isn’t that kind of beautiful??? Her CT story mode IS a dream, it’s a desperate dream, the one she holds most dearly but doesn’t even understand- Nu is a character who THINKS what she wants more than anything is a romantic love with her prince charming, but we see in her story mode there, and in the relationships that finally save her, that what she really wanted was a full relationship as a real person. Platonic relationships, with no expectations, just someone seeing her and maybe offering her a smile. She craved, needed, the ability to connect with others, but that was a dream so far out of reach she couldn’t understand it. I KNOW I’M RAVING AT THIS POINT, I DIDN’T MEAN TO, BUT C’MON IT’S BEAUTIFUL.
Tumblr media
And, and!!! As I mentioned, the relationships that finally save her, finally wake her up from the dream the same way the BB world is being woken up from ITS looping dream (WHICH IS ANOTHER AWESOME CONNECTION AND GREAT WRITING, THE WAY NU AS A CHARACTER CAN BE SEEN TO EMBODY THE LOOPING WORLD, NEW AND BROKEN AND UNABLE TO CHANGE WITH NO HOPE OF TOMORROW)
Ahem, ahem-- It’s familial connections. She so badly wants that romance with Ragna, but it isn’t the love of a prince that saves her- it’s when he accepts her as his sister. It’s when he accepts her as a victim and her own person and not a bastardization of Saya, and comes to save this lonely girl. An echo of his little sister he couldn’t save. HIS ENTIRE JOURNEY WAS TO SAVE HIS SISTER AND HE FINALLY DOES. IN SO MANY WAYS, INCLUDING IN THAT MOMENT OF REACHING OUT TO NU.
Tumblr media
And then it’s Noel. And Lamba. Her sisters. Again, people who once saw her as a disgusting representation of what they feared the most, a replacement or a copy- when they let that go, see past it, and really face her, they take Nu in as their little sister. And its their patient love that heals her. Just like Ragna, when they first met Nu, her connection to Saya and themselves terrified them, infuriated them, but now they look directly at that connection and don’t see it as a threat. It fills them with compassion. It can be a lovely thing, to share something so fundamental as your creation with someone else. There’s love in that. They see it now and are able to offer it to her.
This answer has been very messy and very long, but hey, let’s pretend it isn’t that bad. Give me some mercy, I’m on so much cough syrup.

Review Anon's outline for 2023
Hello people and welcome to 2023! We are now in our 4th year of this blog and my 3rd year being here, crazy to think it’s been this long, eh? Seeing as it’s the start of the new year, I thought this would be a good time to discuss what my plans right now are for this year regarding my projects.
The first thing is of course when All Eyes on Me finishes, to do a review on that. I thought long and hard how I was gonna tackle this arc, as this was a rather unique challenge for me, not just because it’s a musical arc. You will see what I’m talking about when the arc finishes and I do my reviews on. But rest assured that despite what I was thinking at the start of this arc, I am NOT skipping a review of this arc.
Speaking of All Eyes on Me, let’s address the elephant in the room; The Nijiue Spoof Arc. What’s happening to it and have I cancelled it? Short answer: No, it’s not cancelled. The long answer is that I’ve already thought about how the arc was gonna unfold, but I was concerned that All Eyes on Me was gonna lean too similar to it, so accusations of plagiarism would run rampant. Therefore, I was holding ground to make sure my idea was different enough. And good news everyone, it is! Obviously, the siblings are COMPLETELY different in the Spoof Arc but even Ayato and Emina are quite different in the Spoof Arc then they are in All Eyes on Me. But even when All Eyes on Me is finished and I do my review on it, I WON’T jump straight into doing the Spoof Arc right away. That’s because I have something else that I promised people I would do after All Eyes on Me Arc Review, but once I done and published THAT then I will work to finish the Spoof Arc and its release date will be 1st April 2023! The reason I’m doing it straight after the second thing is last year; I ran into the double whammy issue of creator’s block and various other projects cropping up around that time, so this year I want to nip that issue in the bud. It also means if I’m in the middle of doing it and suddenly either the Banker Arc or whatever arc we are on finishes, I’m not caught off guard.
So, what IS this second thing that comes after the All Eyes on Me Arc Review but before the Nijiue Spoof Arc? Why it’s my 3rd character analysis; Chiaki Nanami! This is gonna be a fairly big analysis as Chiaki is the deuteragonist of this blog so there’s a LOT of material to cover, even more then with Hibiki and Nikei before her. Since I knew All Eyes on Me was gonna be a major arc for Chiaki, I wanted that Arc to finish before I do Chiaki’s analysis.
Once Chiaki’s analysis is done and dusted, the final character analysis I want to get done before Season 2 finishes is Kyoji’s. Now the question is, when do I do his? Initially I was thinking of doing it for the Despair Strikes Back Arc but I have a horrid feeling it’s gonna be the Season 2 Finale Arc, and I already got a TON on my plate when that happens (Obvious Review for the Final arc, Season 3 predictions, the BIG CHUNGUS Season 2 Retrospective and updating all character analysis to include all Season 2 content) Thankfully there IS a upcoming arc which Kyoji is gonna have a major role in which I feel confident that releasing his character analysis for; Dianthus Memory. AKA the Tsumugi Downfall Arc. Once V3 is erased from the timeline and I do my review on it, Kyoji’s character analysis will come out then. The Mod might try and say wait until Season 2 finishes but if I do, it will never get done.
So, TL; DR version, here is the release schedule coming up.
All Eyes on Me Arc Review: Literally be the first thing I do this year.
(And chances are this will be on the larger side of my arc word count. How ironic that the arc which debates Sayaka in a prominent way gets a lengthy review. At least none of my standalone works have reached the word count of the Sayaka Thesis…yet.)
ASOOT Chiaki Character Analysis: Will be released after All Eyes on Me Arc Review
(Regarding the Banker Arc, obviously the Chiaki Analysis will be released beforehand but if it takes too long and the Banker Arc finishes before its released, the Character Analysis will take priority)
Nijiue Spoof Arc: Restart writing it once ASOOT Chiaki Character Analysis is released, scheduled release to 1st April 2023.
(Since ideally all writing for this would be done February-March time, it will be released on 1st April regardless what is going on that time.)
ASOOT Kyoji Character Analysis: Will be released after Dianthus Memory Arc Review
(I will LITERALLY only change this if Despair Strikes Back is NOT the Season 2 Finale. Kyoji is probably the worst of all the characters to schedule when his analysis should come out in this regard)
[REDACTED]: Will be released during Season 2, but not when anything else is going on.
(And what’s this? Something I’ve been quietly working on for a while…which is gonna be temporary not worked on since I have other pressing projects but if I find myself with downtime, like I’ve finished writing the Nijiue Spoof Arc but we aren’t in Dianthus Memory, or I’ve done the Kyoji Analysis already, I will be working on this. And trust me guys…you are gonna LOVE this.)
And of course, reviews will come out when said arcs finish. You know the drill. That’s all from me, just to give you guys an update on what to expect for this year though this more like a Q1 report then anything. Either way see you around! - Review Anon
//I look forward to seeing all these works in the coming year ^^

Finally someone who gets the symbolism in him, he is very greatly crafted and very symbolical one and it hurts to see people just care about Inori's death and reduced him just Inori's murderer.
Gosh I love him.
And I believe he and Taka can actually tolerate eachother, it is fun to Imagine my favourite characters interaction.
Well I would agree Kanade being a victim in some degree, her parents really bad parents and it did not help she was bullied too, there is no positive figure for her but still she is very bad about finding coping mechanisms!
And which character dynamics would great to see other than Byakuya and Taka?
I'm gonna write the last part of this first because I have a list!
Mondo and Junko are perfect foils, but he has to go and die before they can interact. They literally committed the same crime, but one of them regrets it an aaa. I am actively resisting the urge to write a fic about those two due to scheduling.
I know we get an entire set of FTEs, but I'd really like more interactions between Makoto and Mukuro in the main storyline. I love Sayaka, but can Muku have like, 20% of that screentime. If I were in charge of writing the series, I'd have her actually develop her crush on Makoto here and get cold feet about this whole plan, and then have her defy Junko for real. We can still get her dying lines, but in a "how did you know I was going to betray you before even I did" way.
Speaking of Mukuro, can I drag you down into rarepair hell with Mukuro and Celeste? There's so much potential there for drama. Celeste is an Ult. Gambler, she is the most likely to catch onto the fact some shady shits going on. Celeste wants to be served and Mukuro has served others her whole life. Its such an interesting concept that we never got to see.
Taka and Toko are also an interesting one. I imagine that the possibility of Toko being locked up for a crime Syo committed would challenge his already shaky sense of justice. I also think he'd be torn about her self loathing. On one hand, she's a genius. On the other hand, anyone can work hard enough to overcome their flaws. Also, Toko is a romance novelist, so if anyone can convince Taka to snap out of it and keep living, its probably her.
There are more I could talk about (like Byakuya and Sayaka) but this is getting to be long! The epic version of THH that exists only in my head is a wonderful thing.
A Byakuya fan? Excellent taste! I'm so sorry the fandom did him dirty by either erasing his flaws or demonizing him for his treatment of Toko. (which was scummy, but she was equally if not more toxic.)
I could see him and Taka getting along in chapter two, after Taka has learned to be slightly less judgmental of others. Taka did not care about his negative comments, which bodes well!
Nah, if I ever met Kanade in real life, I would run like hell! But since she's fictional, I can enjoy her depravity! (though I would prefer if she never made that face again. You know the one) Same holds true for most of my faves. I just really dislike the "she was born evil" take. I mean, from canon I think she shows signs of being a psychopath, but not all psychopaths end up becoming mass murderers! I think it'd be like, especially fucked up if during that scene of her killing her parents, she gets called Hibiki. Ouch.
Yessssss the symbolism in Danganronpa is so fun, and nobody overanalyzes it enough. One of my favorite gems of symbolism in the series is Gonta getting killed by mechanical wasps, aka technology. Because he was a victim of the virtual world just as much as Miu. and Kokichi too in a sense. I could write a whole essay about stylistic choices such as these, but people'd probably think I've gone batshit. (Anyways, the Sword not being very practical represents Sayaka. Despite everything, she's not really made for combat and leaves residue (clues.) wherever she goes)
(Tangent, the more an execution tries to teach a fucked up lesson to the killer, the better it is. You can't change my mind.)

Danganronpa Another 2: Voice Artist Headcanons.
Two things with this.
These are not canon voice actors, this is just who I would like to see voice these characters if SDRA2 was ever considered an official game.
This post is not meant to diminish the official dub of SDRA2, nor am I claiming that the voice actors who work on that project are heavily inferior to official licensed voice artists.
This is just me being a voice actor fanboy, and that’s all that you need to know.

Requesting?
Tumblr media
“I’m currently testing to see if I can creatively handle requests, so the ability to request may come and go at times, but just remember that I’m just a person doing what they love; Writing.”
Tumblr media
New rule!
I am currently only taking thirsts and very short drabbles at the moment! Please word your requests accordingly! Thank you!
Tumblr media

(The reason I won’t write these characters could be that I dislike them/writing for them, that I don’t know how to write them correctly, or i just don’t feel like writing them. This is just my opinion, I’m sorry. If a request is made with any of these characters, I’ll will have to kindly decline. I’m sorry for the strict rules. Thank you for your time!)
Tumblr media
Please Remember
Due to the fact that this is something that I do for fun, when it starts to become not fun for me, I might make changes (either that be taking a break or closing requests) I try my best to make poeple happy, but if I put so much of my effort into make if others feel happy, who will be there to make me happy? So please, be kind.
Tumblr media
How to request?
State which character you would like!
Then state what gender the reader identifies as (ie Fem!/Male!/GN!/Amab!/Afab!, etc)
Also! A short (maybe even one word) explination of the reader’s personality would really help me! T T
And then what they will be doing! (Ie first date, scary movie night, or just straight up sex)
You can totally vent about it if you want! I’m absolutely open to that! ^^
Tumblr media
My schedule
I normally complete a few requests a day, newest to oldest, though I may take some days off due to not having any ideas at the moment of just being busy. I normally am able to see the requests that I get, so if I haven’t responded to it after I finished a bunch of other ones, it’s just because I’m tired, not because I didn’t see it.
Besides requests, I post whatever I feel like without any real planning. That’s how I work best. :)
“And please remember! Writer Komaru loves you sooo much!! You mean the world to me T T it makes me so so sooooo happy talking to others on this platform and making others happy with what I write, so please, continue to request and I’ll continue to write! (Until I get tired, of course! Hehe!~)”

Headcanons for Toko being voted as the class rep for the 78th class because Hina knew she had low self-esteem so she ended up getting Makoto, Sayaka, Chihiro, Sakura and the twins(I call Mukuro and Junko the twins because they're twins but not identical twins like Kanade and Hibiki) to vote for her. Also headcanons for Toko trying to handle being class rep? Also I would love a sprinkle of Jack being the class rep
Hope you like these!
She did not sign up for this, nor did she want it. Frankly, she was surprised she’d gotten enough votes to beat Taka, but unfortunately, she couldn’t turn down the position. She was stuck.
Being class rep was a lot more work than she thought it was. She had to go to meetings, organize events, speak in front of her class… It was awful, and she absolutely hated it.
Syo, however, thrived. She was great at getting everyone’s attention, of course, and add in her creative mind and you have a great class rep! So she loved her duties whenever she fronted.
Toko eventually grew into it, too, since Syo usually did a lot of the backwork she let pile up. Still, she was pretty steamed at everyone who voted to give her this job.
...Though she couldn’t really deny, at the end of the year, that it did more good than harm. She was better at speaking to her classmates, and maybe, just maybe, she would run for the position next year.

Connections in PreCure Civilian Names (Updated)
If you don’t see a Cure, I found no relevant connection.
Sometimes I looked to Google Translate for help.
These are only connections I’ve noticed on my own. Please let me know which connections I’ve missed!
Honoka Yukishiro (Cure White) - “Yukishiro” means “snow white.”
Hikari Kujo (Shiny Luminous) - “Hikari” is just the literal word for “light,” alluding to her role in the series.
Saki Hyuuga (Cure Bloom/Bright) - “Saki” means “bloom” or “blooming.” “Hyuuga” can mean “facing the sun’s direction”; if you’re wondering what relevance that has, look what type of flower appears in Bloom’s transformation.
Mai Mishou (Cure Egret/Windy) - “shou” can mean “fly,” referring to the egret bird.
Nozomi Yumehara/Cure Dream - “Nozomi” can mean either “hope” or “wish,” as she introduces herself as the Cure of hope (I think). “Yume” means “dream.”
Rin Natsuki/Cure Rouge - “Natsu” means “summer,” referencing her fire powers.
Komachi Akimoto/Cure Mint - “Aki” means “fall,” which could refer to the leaves behind her transformation. But, like, that’s the best I can do with that.
Karen Minazuki/Cure Aqua - It’s not exact, but her last name contains “Mi__zu__” which means “water.”
Love Momozono/Cure Peach - “Momo” can mean either “peach,” or a word for “pink.” “Love” obviously refers to her heart theme.
Miki Aono/Cure Berry - “Aono” means “of blue.” “Miki” is used for a lot of blue magical girls (Sayaka, Mew Mint’s pet dog, the Amulet Spade Chara), though it means “beautiful tree.”
Inori Yamabuki/Cure Pine - “Inori” means “prayer,” referring to her transformation phrase and attacks, where you can hear her use the word.
Setsuna Higashi/Cure Passion - “Higashi” means “East,” referring to her previous role as Eas. “Setsuna” can mean “precious” or “beloved,” possibly referring to her newfound friendships.
Tsubomi Hanasaki/Cure Blossom - “Tsubomi” means “bud,” as in flower bud, and “Hanasaki” means “blooming flower or blossom.”
Yuri Tsukikage/Cure Moonlight - “Yuri” means “lily,” her personal flower, and “Tsukikage” literally translates to “moon shadow,” oddly enough.
Hibiki Hojo/Cure Melody - “Hibiki” means “resound” or “sound” (though “sound” is usually translated as “oto.”) This also goes for Hibiki Tachibana, of course.
Kanade Minamino/Cure Rhythm - “Kanade” means “beautiful sound” or “playing music.” This also goes for Kanade Amou.
Eren Kurokawa/Cure Beat - “Kuro” means “black,” possibly alluding to the fact that Eren used to be a black cat.
Ako Shirabe/Cure Muse - “Shirabe” means “note” or “tune.” This also goes for Shirabe Tsukuyomi.
Miyuki Hoshizora/Cure Happy - “Hoshizora” means “starry sky.” This isn’t a direct reference to her, but a starry sky can be considered a setting for fairy tale.
Akane Hino/Cure Sunny - “Aka” means “red,” which might be a reason why some people list her as a red cure when she is clearly orange. “Hino” means “of fire.” This also goes for Rei Hino.
Yayoi Kise/Cure Peace - “Ki” can mean “yellow,” though I know the translation better as “Kiiro.”
Nao Midorikawa/Cure March - “Midori” means “green.” This also goes for Izuku Midoriya (happy birthday to him, btw).
Reika Aoki/Cure Beauty - “Reika” means “below zero,” according to Google Translate, referring to her ice powers, though the name has multiple meanings; another is “beautiful.” “Ao” means “blue.”
Mana Aida/Cure Heart - “Ai” means “love.”
Rikka Hishikawa/Cure Diamond - “Rikka” also has several meanings, though one is “snow” or “snowflake,” referring to her ice powers.
Makoto Kenzaki/Cure Sword - “Ken” means either “blade” or “sword.”
Megumi Aino/Cure Lovely - “Megumi” can mean “love” or “affection.” “Aino” means “of love.” This also goes for Minako Aino.
Hime Shirayuki/Cure Princess - “Hime” means “princess.” “Shirayuki” means “white snow,” probably alluding to the famous princess.
Yuko Omori/Cure Honey - “mori” means “forest,” maybe referring to her clover theme.
Haruka Haruno/Cure Flora - “Haruno” means “of spring,” referring to the season her element is associated with. The same goes for her first name.
Minami Kaido/Cure Mermaid - “Kaido” doesn’t seem to mean anything relevant, but it’s similar to “Kaioh,” Sailor Neptune’s last name. “Minami” means “south,” though I don’t know if that’s supposed to mean something.
Kirara Amanogawa/Cure Twinkle - From first to last name, it translates literally as “twinkling Milky Way.”
Towa Akagi/Cure Scarlet - “Aka” means “red.”
Mirai Asahina/Cure Miracle - “Mirai” means “future.” I didn’t actually watch all of Mahoutsukai, so I don’t know if that’s relevant.
Kotoha Hanami/Ha/Cure Felice - “Ha” means “leaf,” which is in, like, all of her names. “Hanami” means “flower viewing,” an actual pastime in Japan where people picnic near the newly-bloomed sakura trees.
Ichika Usami/Cure Whip - It’s not exact, but “Usagi means “rabbit,” referring to her animal theme. Thus is where Sailor Moon’s first name comes from.
Himari Arisugawa/Cure Custard - “Hi” can mean “sun,” which is sometimes portrayed as yellow.
Aoi Tategami/Cure Gelato - From first to last name, it translates literally as “blue mane.”
Akira Kenjou/Cure Chocolat - “Akira” contains “ak__a,” which means “red.”
Ciel Kirahoshi/Cure Parfait - “Ciel” is French for “sky.” “Kirahoshi” means “twinkling stars,” which could refer to the ethereal nature of her animal theme, as does Ciel.
Hana Nono/Cure Yell - “Hana” means “flower,” referring to one of her attack themes and part of her outfit.
Saaya Yakushiji/Cure Ange - This one might be a stretch. Yakushi-ji is a Buddhist temple in Japan; its main attraction is “The Medicine Buddha,” which could reference her introducing herself as “Healing everyone!”
Homare Kagayaki/Cure Etoile - “Homare” means “honor,” which could refer to her character arc of self-acceptance. “Kagayaki” means “shining,” referring to her golden-like theme.
Ruru Amour/Cure Amour - “Ruru” is a reference to R.U.R., a 1920s play that brought the word “robot” into modern usage, referring to her true nature. So it’s not Lulu. “Amour” is French for “love,” referring to her and Macherie’s theme.
Emiru Aisaki/Cure Macherie - “Aisaki” means “blooming love.”
Hikaru Hoshina/Cure Star - “Hikaru” means “bright,” “shimmer” or “gleam.” “Hoshi” means “star.”
Lala Hagoromo/Cure Milky - “Hagoromo” refers to a few things, but the anime makes it clear what the fake name specifially refers to. I forget which one, but I think it’s either for a space orbiter or an old Japanese play about a swan maiden.
Elena Amamiya/Cure Soleil - “Elena” is a multilingual name that means “bright” or “shining light,” referring to her sun theme.
Madoka Kaguya/Cure Selene - “Kaguya” refers to a Japanese story involving a princess of the moon.
Yuni/Cure Cosmo - “Yuni” is supposed to refer to how Japan pronounces the word “universe,” in reference to the outer space themes.
Nodoka Hanadera/Cure Grace - “Hana” means “flower.”
Chiyu Sawaizumi/Cure Fontaine - “Chiyu” can mean “healing” or “cure,” though since she’s not the main cure I don’t know why she gets to be named after the season’s main theme. “Sawaizumi” can mean “marsh/stream fountain.”
Hinata Hiramitsu/Cure Sparkle - “Hi” means “sun,” which refers to her bright powers. “Hinata” means “sunny place.” Although not exact, “Hiromitsu” means “wide light.” Interestingly, “mitsu” is a word for “three,” which could reference her being the third Cure in her team.
Asumi Fuurin/Cure Earth - “Asu” is just how the Japanese pronounce the English word “earth.” So Cure Earth’s civilian name is literally the same. “Fuu” means “wind,” referring to her actual element. The same goes for Fuu Hououji.
8/3/20 EDIT: MY ASS COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT SPLASH STAR, IM SO SORRY.

> Much like Sayaka, it takes a while for Hibiki to become intimately close to someone. However once he feels ready to be intimate with someone often he is direct to his physical affection to them.
> Hibiki likes to touch his partners and kiss them. He isn’t afraid on putting his hands on them and presses kiss on every inch of their skin as possible while also whispering to them.
> Hibiki changes a bit when he is with his partner. Suddenly speaking in lower tones and being a bit more dominant, he also likes to leave marks on his partner’s skin.

Binge-Watching: Yuki Yuna is a Hero, Episodes 1-3
And so we begin! In which the reference points are impossible to ignore, and I wonder if this show can transcend its obvious inspirations or just wallow in them.
Senki Zesshou Madoka
There’s something to be said for the dangers of hewing so close to convention with a show like Yuki Yuna is a Hero. Only three episodes in, and I’ve already been forced to compare it to so many different reference points it draws from, a paradoxically broad yet specific net of culture, genres, and specific other works. It plays on a lot of stuff that I like getting out of anime, but it also plays on very specific applications of that stuff that I’ve seen done better elsewhere, in shows and franchises that I will sing praises of until the day I die. As a result, I can’t help but compare it against so many wonderful works that it just isn’t measuring up to in my mind. That’s not to say I’m not enjoying my time with it, because I am; there’s a lot of good to be found in this story, a lot of smart storytelling and clever ideas and warm, human sincerity that all give me hope that at the very least, it’s going to remain an enjoyable time all the way through. But just like the recent Bunny Girl Senpai couldn’t help but draw comparisons to its obvious influence in Monogatari, I find it impossible to think of Yuki Yuna without drawing connections to the far superior properties that have shaped its being. Will it be able to shake off those comparisons and become more of its own thing as it develops? That remains to be seen. But if nothing else, I’m eager to see it try.
So, the fundamental difficulty at the heart of Yuki Yuna is that it’s a dark magical girl show standing at a crossroads between two obvious influences from the same genre: Madoka Magica and Symphogear. Like Madoka, it’s got a five-girl team of enchanted warriors doing battle with evil monsters in a kaleidoscope world separate from our own, complete with a soundtrack awash in chimes and violins to give their journey a sense of epic grandeur and haunting depth, like sinking into a bottomless pond of rainbow-tinted darkness. Like Symphogear, it still maintains a level of slice-of-life goofiness to balance the intensity of its battles, its characters all driven by chronic dumbassery and an over-the-top emotional spirit. Its protagonist is both a pink-haired avatar of compassion like Madoka Kaname and a brute-strength, scatterbrained brawler like Hibiki Tachibana. Her wheelchair-bound best friend is both the inner-sadness-ice-queen Homura and the Lois-Lane-to-your-Superman Miku (who even gets the prerequisite “You never told me about this magic stuff” huff out of the way by the time the second episode is over). And to make the comparison even stronger on both fronts, Togo and Yuna are absolutely dating (”You got angry for me!” “You’re such a charmer.”) There’s even a Kyoko/Chris stand-in, a red-motif bad-tempered punk character who blows shit up real good and gets unwillingly dragged into everyone else’s friendship hug. And if you squint hard enough, you can even see parallels between the take-charge, big sister type in Kanade and Mami (so here’s hoping she doesn’t die quite as quickly as either of them), while her little sister then takes the role of Tsubasa/Sayaka. The reference points are so clear with this show that it’s hard to not think of it as an attempt to recapture that same magic, to aspire to that same legendary level of intense female trial-by-fire storytelling, with gay undertones ranging from subtle to This Is Obviously Canon (Togo on Yuna forgetting her homework: ”I’m not gonna protect you there, so do your best!” WHY ARE THEY SO HIBIKI AND MIKU MY GOD). But as with the aforementioned Bunny Girl Senpai, if you’re going to invoke such obvious reference points, you better be confident you have the skill and talent to actually match them. Otherwise, you’re only ever going to feel like a pretender to the throne, a cheap imitation of something that was never going to be topped.
Skipped Steps
And that’s where Yuki Yuna’s biggest stumbling block lies at the moment; pretty much every second I spend with it is a second that leaves me saying, “I preferred you when you were Madoka/Symphogear/A better slice-of-life cute girls comedy like, say, K-On.” It draws from the same well of character archetypes, tone setting and story beats, but it doesn’t carry them out with the same authenticity and thoughtfulness. There’s a moment where Kyoko/Chris jabs at Yuna, ”I bet people call you stupid a lot, huh?”, and it’s obviously supposed to play into her archetype of the Hibiki-esque dumbass do-gooder, but we’ve actually had very little time setting Yuna up in that same way. Hibiki was established right from the start as an absolute mess of a person who nevertheless carried incredible passion and drive to help people, even if she had to brute-force her way to a better solution. Yuna, by contrast, feels far more at home in the introverted, graceful optimist role of a Madoka, which makes it feel odd when the show tries to slot her into the brazen brawler format. She’s obviously meant to be the same sort of archetype, but she doesn’t live the truth of that archetype as deeply as she could; it feels like the show just assumed we would see her as such due to our familiarity with the medium, so it forgot to put in the legwork to actually making her feel like such. And that sense of steps being skipped to get to the kinds of tropes and cliches that this kind of story is “supposed” to have grows unfortunately more prevalent as we begin to settle into the narrative.
Consider, for example, the Kyoko/Chris character, whose name I haven’t quite pinned down yet. The point of this kind of character is to be an initially antagonistic force for the other girls, a lone wolf badass punk who sneers at authority and friendship and lives for the thrill of facing down foes with her overwhelming strength. Over time, though, the kindness of the other girls eventually wins her over, helping her overcome whatever trauma made her such a loner in the first place and accept their friendship and companionship, however begrudgingly. That arc usually spans the entirety of the first season, giving us time to get to know this girl, why she’s so standoffish and snide, before slowly having her open up and grow past the things that tie her down. In Yuki Yuna, though, that entire arc is compressed into a single episode. Not-Kyoko shows up right at the start, is already butting heads with everyone, but everyone instantly wants to be friends with her regardless, and she’s swept up in their whims with hardly a single chance to protest, and before she knows it, she’s already appreciating their antics. It’s drive-by storytelling, rushing through the bullet points of getting her on the team without letting any of them really settle as worthwhile emotional beats in their own right. Not to mention the odd time skip following the second episode, passing over the process of pulling the team together and skipping right to the point where they’re already a cohesive unit. It all contributes to a sense that Yuki Yuna isn’t so much drawing inspiration from its contemporaries as it is carbon-copying their ideas and story elements without any of the connective tissue that brought those elements together in their initial state. I didn’t fall in love with Madoka and Symphogear because they had intense battles and gay undertones and disgruntled characters joining the team; I fell in love with the because all those elements were part of a truly worthwhile story that used them to their greatest possible benefit. And unless Yuki Yuna can figure out how to do the same, it’s never going to escape feeling like a half-measure.
Kaleidoscope Chaos
Still, the fact remains that for all those complains, I am still enjoying my time with Yuki Yuna thus far, so it must be doing something right. And I think its secret weapon is that despite the shortcuts it takes in its story, it doesn’t take shortcuts with the framework that story takes place in. The first episode makes an incredibly admirable effort to establish the chemistry of the four girls and the specifics of the space they inhabit before dropping them into pastel rainbow chaos. Their very first scene, scrambling to save a botched puppet show and somehow pulling it off, makes a really strong impression on us, getting us acquainted with their scattershot charm and how well they play off each other. And the time we spend with them afterwards really makes their dynamic click. They way they talk over each other and bounce off each other, trading silly quips without a care in the world (”Udon gives you girl power.”), you really get a sense of how long they’ve been friends and how easy it is for them to like each other. Further contributing to that sense of lived-in camaraderie, everyone’s gimmicks are fairly understated, allowed to breeze by without calling too much attention to themselves, giving off the impression that these eccentricities and oddities, like the president’s heavy appetite, have been so ingrained into their friendship dynamic that they now come easy as breathing. Heck, the fact that Togo was just allowed to be wheelchair-bound without any big, showy comment on that fact was really impressive to me. Even just that one insert shot of her using the wheelchair lift at school contributes so much to our sense of reality of how this world works. It’s not a gimmick that she’s in a wheelchair, she’s just a character who is in a wheelchair and interacts with the world around her accordingly, with friends who are already accustomed to accommodating for her.
That sense of confidence carries through to the direction as well, which balances the silly slice-of-life bits and the intense mystical battles admirable. When things are goofy and relaxed, the show is able to casually toss off fun sight gags like questions marks popping in the air and silly faces rushing by a mile a minute, all giving us a great sense of how much fun these girls have with each other. And when the battles heat up, hot damn are they exiting to watch. I do take issue with some of the video-game nature of the conflicts, how there’s leveling up and boss timers and hit boxes and a bunch of other random rules that don’t seem to contribute much to the overall tactical or sensory experience (also, the switching between 2D and CG models in some of the wide shots is kinda distracting). But other than that, I love the way it makes the pastel rainbows of the etherworld look eerie and pale and terrifying; even the pinks are unsettlingly stark and menacing. I love the Madoka-esque soundtrack; like I mentioned above, it carries such a powerful sense of weight and myth. I love how Yuna’s first transformation has her punting enemies away as her boots and gauntlets materialize upon the moments of contact, like she’s building her arsenal on the fly. I love how Togo’s legs aren’t magically healed when she finally decides to join the fight, how she instead uses thick strands and ropes to carry herself like a human spider. Not only is that a really fun detail that adds a welcome variety to the combat movement, but it’s also a welcome relief that plays fair with her disability and keeps it part of her character without overstating it.
But it’s the opening half-episode, leading up to our first encounter with the etherworld, that sticks with me the most. The way the world is blanketed in a subtle layer of fog that makes the otherwise idyllic lives of our protagonists feel just slightly off-balance, the subtle cloud shadows that pass over the president’s head as she ruminated on whether or not to spill her secret to her sister, the absolutely chilling way the world freezes for the first time, soaked in a silence that grows louder by the second and an emptiness that grows more stifling by the moment, and the final, epic drop on the rainbow tides washing in from the distance like a tsunami of prismatic grace... good lord, that took my breath away. At its bast, Yuki Yuna is able to inspire the same awe in me as did Madoka and Symphogear before it, to reach beyond its obvious inspirations and carve out its own, equally majestic identity. If it can capitalize upon those better instincts, then this is going to be a ride to remember.
Odds and Ends
-So they’re agents of some beings called the Shinju. Who are the Shinju, exactly?
-That was an... odd magical girl transformation for someone about to go into battle.
-Oh, boo, that was lame. Getting distracted by your friends is a lame way to get taken out.
-Okay, Yuna hurting her hand on that thing cracked me up. Guess not every brawler had the fist strength right up front, Hibiki.
-”You really captured its wackiness in your drawing!” Yuna plz
-”Yuki Yuna comedy show!” Good lord, she’s trying so hard.
-”You came up with that joke just for me?” askjdhaskjdhasd
-Oh, that’s an amnesia bomb. What the hell was this accident that made you lose your legs, Togo?
-Was the boob jiggle really necessary, tho?
-”They listen to her more easily than me.” That feeling when Homura deposes Mami
-I like how the OP and ED change as new people join the team! It keeps you on your toes, because you can’t trust them to tell you who’s going to be important; you have to rely on the show for that.
-”You’re hitting the chalkboard.” pfft
-”Istuki, you can’t get up that early in the morning.” “Neither can you, Yuna.” I swear, it’s like looking into a Symphogear-shaped mirror with these two.
-”Stop overthinking things, you’ll go bald.” I don’t think she’s gonna buy that, Fu.
-”Wow! You only have water.” Something about the way she performed that line really got me. Amazement! Not.
-”Batemochi.” Togo. Honey.
And with that, we are on our way. This is gonna be one fascinating ride, folks. See you next time!

My top 10 yuri ships
Hi everyone! Here’s my top 10 favourite yuri ships in anime and manga (as well as Japanese game). Keep in mind that it’s my personal top 10 and I’m not saying those ships are better than the others, just that they are those I prefer.
10. Kaguya X Mokou (Touhou Project)
Tumblr media
My favourite ship in Touhou Project. I have a thing for love/hate relationship as well as rivalry. Those two are immortals and keep trying to kill each other due to an old grudge. How romantic. But as immortals, they can understand each other since they are going through the same thing, and know they won’t end up alone. My main reason to ship them is that I find the concept of them being together really hot (and one of them as firepower so it’s fitting).
9. Yoko X Aya (Kiniro Mosaic)
Tumblr media
Ship from one of my favourite slice of life anime. Yoko and Aya are the typical “shoujo manga couple” with the tsundere girl to shy to admit her feeling and the dense guy. But not as typical, since they are both girls. Aya, better known as Ayaya (or Gayaya), is so memeable. Her love for Yoko can be both cute and funny, and I do hope one day Yoko will realize her feelings and reciprocate them. They are what I prefer in Kiniro Mosaic, their episodes are those I enjoyed the most.
8. Otoya x Shiena (Akuma no Riddle)
Tumblr media
I hesitate to put this one since I’m more obsessed about it than actually liking it, but I guess that I can’t just write so many fanfics about them and not put them on my top. I’m truly obsessed and fascinated by the possibility of this pairing. I must admit that I have a fascination for psychopaths, and a relationship with one of them intrigued me. So to see a normal girl like Shiena being paired with a psycho serial killer like Otoya is like a fantasy to me, it’s satisfying my dark fantasy. I like to imagine how they could actually work as a couple. So unhealthy and dark...Ah, not that I approve such relationship, but it’s fine in fiction. If you’re interested, here’s an analysis I made for them: OtoShie analysis.
7. Komaru X Touko (Danganronpa)
Tumblr media
A relationship that truly touched me. They are so good for each other, they support and help each other. I honestly ship them either romantically or as friends, I just want to see them together. Just seeing pictures of them together is enough to light up my mood. Touko has a hard time trusting others because of her past, so it’s moving to see her open up to Komaru and eventually see her as a close friend. And Komaru is just so sweet and adorable. Please Touko, forget about Togami and just go with Komaru, who respect and treat you well You deserves better than that rich prick!
6. Sakurako X Himawari (Yuru Yuri)
Tumblr media
What’s better than a tsundere? Two tsunderes being tsun-tsun for each other! My favourite thing in that anime is actually those two and their interaction. Individually I don’t really like any of them, but together they are just gold. We know they actually like each other, but they can’t help but being rival. They used to be really close as kids but ended up fighting growing up (probably because of Hima’s boobs, they start all of this). But the rare sweet moments between them are what truly matters, and I hope for actual development for them.
5. Homura X Madoka & Sayaka X Kyouko (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two ships for this positions since they are from the same anime and I can’t choose one. We can’t deny Homura’s love for Madoka, it’s pretty much canon with the third movie. Just how far she went for Madoka’s sake, the sacrifices she made, the pain she underwent. I wish for a happy conclusion for them, but I feel like it won’t be the case. As for KyouSaya, I like how both of them is tomboyish, it’s rare to see that type of yuri ship. They started as enemies to eventually friends, I liked the evolution of their relationships and they truly shine in the third movie. Again I wish them a happy conclusion. But it’s PMMM, so I doubt it will happen ^^’
4. Nanoha X Fate & Vivio X Einhart (Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha)
Tumblr media
Again, two ships at the same position for the same series, because I couldn’t choose. NanoFate is a classic in yuri, they are basically canon. I mean, they live together, sleep in the same bed, bath together, and adopted a girl they raised together. Everything about their relationship is perfect. They start off as enemies but learn to understand each other and eventually become close friends, and it continued to evolve as they grow older. Vivio and Einhart are kind of a mirror of their relationship but softer. They started as rivals and ended up friends, and their ancestors knew each other (they were a couple I think). There’s a good romantic potential with those two, sweet yet spicy. You know what they said. As mother as daughter.
3. Sumireko x Banba (Akuma no Riddle)
Tumblr media
Another one from AnR, my otp, SumiBanba! With both Banba’s personality, Mahiru and Shinya. They are the combination of my two favourite type of ships: Overly cute and dark. Most of their interactions are so cute and fluff, yet since they are both not exactly sane (and Banba being clearly insane), there’s a potential of darkness with that ship, given Sumireko’s obsession with power. The potential of her abusing her power with Banba is strong, yet there’s also the potential for them to help each other with their respective issues. This relationship as both the potential to be good or bad, mostly depending of Sumireko’s action. If you're interested, I made quite a long post to analyze their relationship: SumiBanba analysis.
2. Hibiki X Miku (Symphogear)
Tumblr media
Those two...I love them so much! They are so cute and fluff. They both have a strong bond with each other, they are calling each other sunshine and bright sun. They are so much acting like a married couple, even their VA agreed. I mean, they have bunk bed yet sleep in the same bed, while holding hands and cuddling. They are so perfect for each other, they compliment each other pretty well, Hibiki being more immature and Miku more responsible. And it’s pretty obvious that Miku does love Hibiki, it’s even confirmed in the OVA. But as Hibiki’s friend told her once, she’s as dense as a harem MC. Let’s hope they got actual romantic development in the upcoming season 5 (urgh only airing in April...)
Before I reveal my number 1 yuri ship, here are some ( a lot) honorable mentions...
Honorable mention
Every ship in Akuma no Riddle
Tumblr media
Nana x Junna (Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight)
Tumblr media
Shirabe X Kirika (Symphogear)
Tumblr media
Shinobu X Alice (Kiniro Mosaic)
Tumblr media
Zuikaku X Kaga (Kantai Collection)
Tumblr media
Haruka X Michiru (Sailor Moon)
Tumblr media
Minami X Yutaka (Lucky Star)
Tumblr media
Haruka X Yuu (Sakura Trick)
Tumblr media
Mahiru X Hiyoko (Danganronpa)
Tumblr media
Akko X Diana (Little Witch Academia)
Tumblr media
Croix X Chariot (Little Witch Academia)
Tumblr media
Miu x Nanano (Koihime Musou)
Tumblr media
Yuuna x Tougou (Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru)
Tumblr media
And the number 1 is...
1. Bernkastel X Lambdadelta (Umineko No Naku Koro Ni)
Tumblr media
Those two. Words are not enough to describe how much I love them. They are everything I love about a ship, they are cute yet dark, love/hate, and rivals. They are actually lovers, friends, enemies, rivals and opponents. Yes, they are canonly a couple. They are immortal witches who deeply love each other, yet also try to kill each other from time to time to pass time. Lots of candy and sugar symbolism with them, as well as stuff like “I’ll impale you to my bed and kiss you each morning and night” or “I’ll gouge your eyes so you can only look at me and put them into my tea”. So romantic, so fucked up. I love that. Despite all the creepiness, they do honestly love each other, they just have their own way to show it. I guess it’s normal when you’re a 1000 years old witch.
And this was my Top 10 yuri ships. If there are any yuri ships you like that wasn’t in my top or in the honourable mentions, don’t hesitate to share it with me and I’ll tell you what I think. Thanks for reading and seeya! :)

ASOOT Timeline: December 2012 (Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!)
I’m splitting this update into two parts, since two months were covered. The January part shall be very short, but here’s the December part. Enjoy–Timeline Anon
December 26:
Hajime and Hibiki have finished packing four bags for their ski trip. Hajime mentions that they should probably be careful with the relationship stuff while there, given that the Cuddle Puddle is supposed to be secret. Hibiki reluctantly agrees, but she still is planning on having sex with Hajime while at the resort, and Keiko has snuck some condoms into their luggage. Hajime and Hibiki say goodbye to Hiroshi and Keiko and are then picked up by Yoruko, Mikan, and Kotoko. After picking up Sonia, Gundham, and Hiyoko, Yoruko drops everyone off at the train station, and they leave on the hour-and-a-half bullet train ride to the Shinzen Resort in the Hida Mountains.
Nikei is happy because his latest article is ahead of five major news sites in terms of web traffic, while Iroha is waiting on a package that contains a Christmas present for Makoto and a birthday present for Maku. They are visited by Erina, who wanted to check on them upon hearing of their existence; she’s concerned that they’re living in a dirty old warehouse, and so she cleans it for them. Iroha, who is still planning out the mission to save her siblings, gets a call from Makoto asking to hang out while he runs some errands. As she leaves, she asks Nikei to wrap her package if it gets back before she does. Erina soon finds out that Nikei hasn’t slept or eaten much today because he’s been so busy with journalism, so she insists that he eat an actual meal. He eats some noodles, they talk about their lives, and Nikei opens up a little about his parental issues. Erina tells him that he can rely on her from now on, and she even makes him some chicken cacciatore for dinner.
Maku’s doing some strength training at the gym when he gets a call from Iroha. She fills him in on Erina’s visit, tells him that she’s spending the day with Makoto, and asks that he stay out of the Void Warehouse for a while. He agrees and wishes her a good day before he gets another call, this time from Emma. She says that her flight back home has been delayed because of the weather, but he encourages her not to worry about it and to keep having a good time.
It’s Maku’s birthday. He turns 16. Unfortunately, it’s also the 10th anniversary of his diagnosis, so it’s not a very happy day for him. He freaks out about it in the gym bathroom, worrying about what will happen to him if his illnesses do come back and whether or not the other Voids will be all right if worse comes to worst, but he eventually pulls himself together and resolves to talk to his friends about his problems.
Makoto and Iroha go to the local pet store so that Makoto can buy some birdseed, as he’s been tasked with taking care of a friend’s pet bird while they’re out of town. He also wants to pick up some cat food for his mom, who’s looking after the neighbor’s cat. In the cat food aisle, Iroha runs into Tamami Furuichi, an expert in animal care, and she helps her find some quality cat food. Makoto comes over, meets Tamami, and recognizes her as being a future member of Class 78. They bond over their excitement to go to Hope’s Peak, Tamami advises Makoto on what food is best to get for cats and birds, and Iroha, who remembers that Tamami will likely die if she goes to Hope’s Peak, tells them that it’s best for them all to keep in touch. She has already developed a crush on Tamami, naturally, and she wants to save her.
Once they are done with their errands, Iroha kisses Makoto, and they both rejoice over having made a new friend. Then, Iroha tells Makoto everything about her family and begs for his help to save her siblings. Makoto comforts her and agrees to go with her to the charity event so that they can save the Nijiue siblings and expose the Nijiue parents once and for all. Upon finding out that Sayaka will be there, he admits that he would like to meet her again. He and Iroha go back home to investigate Class 49, and during this investigation, they find out that one of that class’s members, Sakura Chigusa, has since married and changed her name to Sakura Arima. She is Ayumi’s mother.
Hajime has been exercising more, since his therapist told him it was a good idea. He now has a six-pack.
The Cuddle Puddle arrives at the Shizen Resort and rides a gondola up the mountain. They have fun on the ride for the most part, although Mikan’s fear of heights makes her nervous, but the others let her hold on to them for comfort. They walk (Hajime carries Hiyoko) to the resort, where they meet Miwa Mori, who gives them a tour and thanks them for saving Fumio. Once everyone’s been shown their rooms, Miwa takes Hajime aside and questions him about his engagement to Hiyoko, since he said earlier in the year that he was dating Chiaki and Mikan. Hajime says it’s complicated but that there’s no hard feelings and they’re all friends now, and Miwa accepts that explanation and hopes that they all enjoy their stay. Hajime reminds Hiyoko that they all need to keep their relationship on the down-low while they’re here, only for him to discover that Keiko has put condoms in his bag. Everyone goes out to have fun on the slopes together.
Maku comes home to find the warehouse clean, Nikei asleep, and Iroha’s package on the doorstep. Erina has made him a carrot cake for his birthday. Iroha shows up right on Maku’s heels, takes her package, and goes to wrap it; shortly afterwards, Nikei wakes up, and Emma joins the party via Skype from the UK. Iroha returns and gives Maku his birthday gift, which is a gold bracelet with an infinity symbol on it to symbolize the Voids sticking together forever. This brings Maku to tears. He opens up to everyone about his past, his fears of his Divine Luck running out and his illnesses coming back, and his worries about if the other Voids will be all right if he dies. The Voids reaffirm their love and support for him, assuring him that they’ll be okay either way and that they’re with him no matter what. They all share a group hug and agree to keep moving forward day by day. Iroha tells the Voids about her investigation and has a brainstorm in the process, and with that, the group celebrates what Maku considers to be his best birthday in a long time.
December 27:
At the Nanamis’ new apartment, Nikei, Iroha, Erina, Harumi, Tenmei, Mahiru, Kaori, and Hitoshi gather to discuss Class 49. Harumi tells everyone about her friends the Sakuras, three girls named Sakura who were major troublemakers and got expelled in their second year. These are Sakura Sakura, Sakura Fushimi, and Sakura Chigusa. There’s also Ernesto Gomez, who dropped out in his first year after racist bullying from Emina.
Kyoka and Hibito Mioda show up to the meeting, Kyoka happily reunites with her former classmates, and they instantly agree to help. Kyoka tells everyone more details about each of her classmates. Most notably, she relates the Sakuras’ story. Sakura Chigusa was an airhead who is now a PE teacher, Sakura Fushimi was an aggressive girl who is now a successful fashion designer, and Sakura Sakura was a troublemaking queen bee type with an eating disorder who orchestrated a plot to set off a bomb in the Kamakura statue in front of Hope’s Peak a few days before her 18th birthday. Tenmei did his best to disarm the bomb, but it still knocked off the statue’s head, and the Sakuras were expelled as a result. Sakura Sakura has since cut off contact with everyone and seemingly disappeared off the face of the Earth. Nikei offers to track her down. He and Mahiru want to interview the Sakuras, while Kaori suggests checking out Big Sight, where the charity event will be hosted.
Iroha tells the group about her family, expresses regret that she ran away without them, and begs for help to save them. Everyone swears that they will. The former members of Class 49 are eager to reunite with their old friends as well. Iroha hugs Nikei and thanks him (and everyone else) for everything.
December 28:
At the resort, Hajime and Chiaki race each other on snowboards, Gundham attempts an epic snowboard entrance only to miscalculate the landing and end up in a flurry of snow, and Hibiki has trouble stopping and then falls down a hole. Meanwhile, Mikan is learning to ski in an effort to conquer her fear, and she’s got the support of Hiyoko and Kotoko.
Sonia has finished Kikue’s book. She tells the others about it and offers to introduce them to Kikue when they return to school.
Later, Hibiki confides to Sonia that she’s nervous about her upcoming first time with Hajime. Sonia, who’s a bit more experienced in such matters, gives her advice on what to do, which turns into a short practical demonstration on how to initiate things. Gundham walks in on this, gets the wrong idea, and leaves all flustered. Hibiki thanks Sonia for her help.
Hibiki and Hiyoko talk, and Hibiki apologizes for her part in the ill-timed date. Hiyoko is currently feeling bad about all the bad things she’s done in the past, plus she feels slightly smothered by her mother’s attempts to make up for lost time and wishes she’d stop trying so hard. She even feels upset about her grandmother; apparently, Izumi looked very sad when Maiko last went to see her about custody paperwork, and despite everything, Hiyoko is having trouble letting go of her relationship with Izumi. Hibiki relates to that, since she herself couldn’t let go of Kanade and agreed to the mindwipe because of it. Now, though, she understands that Kanade has to go back to jail once the list is done. Both girls agree that they’ll treat their kids well, and Hiyoko thanks Hibiki for taking care of Hajime. They hug. Hajime arrives, and they go to get dinner.
Mikan admits to Chiaki and Kotoko that dealing with Yumi has caused her to want to bring her own mother to justice for her crimes. Chiaki and Kotoko assure her that they can easily add Tsukasa to the list of people to take care of come January. Chiaki hugs Mikan and thanks her for inspiring her to be better. They share a kiss.
Setsuka and Umeko go to the Tokyo Detention House to talk with Mai, only to find out that she is due to be released today by order of the Steering Committee. Mai doesn’t want Nagisa back, as she considers him a failed experiment, but not even Hideyoshi can keep her in jail, and she leaves with a few smug remarks to everyone present. Umeko breaks down in tearful anger.
Nikei has secured the details on Sakura Fushimi’s fashion business, and he has also found out that Sakura Arima is Aoi Asahina’s swimming coach. He has yet to find anything on Sakura Sakura, though. As he and Iroha speculate on the missing Sakura’s whereabouts, Umeko, Setsuka, and Ayame show up with the news of Mai’s release. Everyone’s very upset about it until Nikei gives them all a pep talk to reassure them that they can easily take her down if she tries anything. He’s even willing to team up with the 76 Squad if necessary, despite his issues with Masa. The group is revitalized by the potent mixture of hope and spite, and Nikei is already planning to write an article in response to this.
Iroha has a theory that Sayaka is the fourth time traveler, hence why she’s going to the charity event and why she did that concert after the prison break. Umeko doesn’t find it very likely, since Sayaka died in the Tragedy timeline, but she agrees to take a closer look at her long-range scanner and see if she missed something.
Taira is spending the night at the Fujimoris’ place to make sure that Ayumu gets enough sleep to help him recover from a cold.
Later, once Nikei has finished his article, he spends time with Ayame and confides to her that he was doing his best to be positive. The extra sleep he’s gotten thanks to Erina certainly helps. He thanks Ayame for all she’s done to help them and for making Taira happy, and he admits that she makes him happy too. Ayame says that Taira often talks about how far Nikei’s come. She’s also concerned about if she’s girly enough and whether or not she could pull off wearing a dress, and Nikei tells her that she could if she wanted to. After Nikei tells Ayame that she has beautiful eyes, they kiss and cuddle on the couch, and she stays over the night.
It’s Damian’s birthday. He turns 18.
December 29:
Chiaki, Mikan, and Kotoko are woken up at 2 AM by a scary message on the TV. It seems to be the Basilisk, threatening to kill them all unless they give up Ayumu. Fortunately, it’s just Etsuya playing a prank. With him are Naoko, Sunako, and Kaori Momota (Sunako’s adopted daughter and Taito’s best friend). The 2030 group has finally established a permanent connection with their counterparts in 2012, so they can talk with them whenever it’s needed. The rest of the Cuddle Puddle join the meeting, as do Taito, Kana, Itsuki, and Sayuri, and they all meet each other (much to their delight). Kotoko is also happy to hear that she does acting and charity work in the future.
After assuring the 2012 group that they are almost all safe at the Kisaragi Foundation now, the 2030 group gives Mikan the go-ahead to deal with Tsukasa if she so chooses. It also comes out that if the 76 Squad is left alone for now, they will eventually ally with the Quantum Crew on their own. Furthermore, the Quantum Crew must keep an eye out for someone named Himari Matsunaga, who they can also ask Kyoji about.
Talk turns to Mai’s release from prison, and an uncomfortable truth about her is revealed: she is pregnant with a child intended to replace Nagisa as the Shingetsus’ experimental subject. Said child is Naoko. Because of this, the Quantum Crew must leave Mai alone for now, lest they jeopardize Naoko’s existence.
Sunako and Kaori tell that 2012 group that they need to focus on stuff they can control, that they’re doing great, that they shouldn’t be too hard on themselves, and that everyone believes in them. The Quantum Crew thanks them and expresses their love for their future children.
December 30: At the Yamazaki Family Restaurant, Keiko talks to Sofia Yamazaki about how her life’s been going lately. She’s worried about Hajime, regretful over some of her outbursts towards him in the past, and wondering how best to support him and if she’s even cut out to be a mom. Sofia talks about her own stepbrother, Asahi, who idolizes star soccer player Mitsuhiro Higa and has argued with her over that, but they’ve made up. She tells Keiko that you can have arguments with your family and still care about them, and she advises her to talk with Hajime more often. Keiko agrees that communication is a good idea.
December 31:
It’s New Year’s Eve. The Cuddle Puddle prepares for the party, and Hibiki (with extra cheerleading from Sonia) prepares for her first time with Hajime. Miwa stops by to express the hope that 2013 will be better than 2012. Meanwhile, Hajime is dealing with the bad memories he has associated with parties.
At the Shinzen Resort New Year’s Eve party, Miwa greets the Cuddle Puddle, thanks them for coming, and wishes Hajime a happy early birthday. Everyone has fun, and although Hajime is still troubled by the mistakes he made in 2012, the others assure him that he has done good things as well. They all agree to keep improving. A revitalized Hajime takes the stage and sings “Don’t Stop Me Now” to the ecstatic partygoers.
It’s Harumi’s birthday. She turns 44.
//Finally, we have completed 2012. Great work! ^^

Bookshelf Briefs 8/21/19
Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter, Vol. 4 | By Reai and Suki Umemiya | Seven Seas – Aside from praising Iris’s innovations, this volume focuses more on the political end of things than the commerce end. Iris ends up attending the ball, and it goes better than she expected, mostly as the Queen Dowager is in her corner. In fact, honestly, things may go a little TOO well—the entire ball seems engineered to show off how the guy who dumped and exiled Iris is a hothead idiot, and Yuri seems to be doing an excellent job of manipulating the country into… running itself into the ground. But how invested should Iris be in all this, especially as she has to look out for her own nation, because there’s war on the horizon. Still an excellent political drama. – Sean Gaffney
Behind the Scenes!!, Vol. 7 | By Bisco Hatori | Viz Media – I enjoy Bisco Hatori’s humor, but her plotting is not a thing to behold. That said, as predicted, things resolved with the Ruka plotline, followed by a quick epilogue showing the film Goda made (honestly, the plot of the film sounds like a manga I’d love to see Hatori write), and then another epilogue several years later showing the two pairings (mostly) resolved and the two stars at ease with themselves and successful. There’s fun to be had here, but I can’t deny that I think this started a lot stronger than it ended, and I’m glad it did not end up as long as Ouran. I’d still recommend it to Hatori fans, though. Oh yes, and the amnesia arc proves to be as inconsequential as I suspected it would be. – Sean Gaffney
Cocoon Entwined, Vol. 1 | By Yuriko Hara | Yen Press – Hoshimiya Girls’ Academy has a unique tradition. The students have exceedingly long hair, and as the middle school third-year students are being measured for their high school uniforms, the high school third-years are finally having their hair cut, which will be used to make said uniforms. Cocoon Entwined so far is light on plot, heavy on atmosphere. We meet Yokozawa, a girl who seems to be able to sense breathing and/or heartbeats from the uniforms, and Saeki, the princely girl whom Yokozawa has feelings for. We don’t meet, except in flashback, the elusive Hoshimiya, granddaughter of the headmistress, who has locked herself in her room and for whom Saeki seemingly pines, much to Yokozawa’s dismay. I really liked this volume, even though there’s not a lot happening so far. I look forward to more, whenever it comes. – Michelle Smith
Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction, Vol. 6 | By Inio Asano | Viz Media – Thankfully, and despite Kadode assuring her friends that something happened, it’s suggested nothing did, and the teacher is leaving the city due to the ongoing chaos. Honestly, the world may not have all that long to go—even if the aliens don’t bring things to an end, can Japan really hold off America and everyone else? This still has a bit of a post-apocalyptic feel to it. Still, Futaba does end up getting lucky, so to speak, though the implication is that her politics and his desire for a non-serious relationship will make that a very short relationship. The best part of the story was Oran’s surprise birthday party, which was sweet as pie. I hope there’s more sweet moments ahead. – Sean Gaffney
Emanon, Vol. 1: Memories of Emanon | By Shinji Kaijo and Kenji Tsuruta | Dark Horse – I initially picked up Emanon due to Tsuruta’s involvement since I’ve been enjoying Wandering Island; I only later realized that Kaijo is an award-winning author. The Emanon manga is an adaptation of a series of stories written by Kaijo (also illustrated by Tsuruta) featuring a young woman who calls herself Emanon. Kaijo’s somewhat melancholic but engaging narratives lend themselves well to Tsuruta’s atmospheric artwork. There’s very little action in the first volume of the manga. For the most part, Tsuruta is capturing a reminiscence of a conversation between two people, a young man who enjoys speculative fiction and Emanon. She intrigues him, not only because of the air of mystery surrounding her but because she tells him that she holds memories reaching back to the beginning of life on Earth. Memories of Emanon, adapting Kaijo’s original story, is self-contained, but I’m greatly looking forward to the continuation of the series. – Ash Brown
Idol Dreams, Vol. 6 | By Arina Tanemura | VIZ Media – It’s been almost two years since I read a volume of Idol Dreams. I’d stop short of saying it has gotten good in the intervening time—there’s a lot of melodrama here, from the death of Hibiki’s little sister and him carrying on despite his grief (leading to the spectacularly cheesy line, “Sayaka, can you hear Hibiki singing?”) to the plotline revolving around Hanami’s pregnancy and the fact that it isn’t Tokita’s—but it’s certainly somewhat better, and I think that’s because this volume puts much more emphasis on Deguchi as an adult interacting with adults rather than her masquerading as a teen interacting with teens. It was even a little gratifying to see this mousey character haul off and smack Hanami for leaving Tokita at the altar. Do I care enough to keep reading? Maybe, especially if the next volume is the final one. – Michelle Smith
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Vol. 37 | By Shinobu Ohtaka | VIZ Media – And so, Magi comes to an end. There were some things I really liked about it, like how Ohtaka-sensei showed how Alibaba’s unfailing determination to fight the spell reminded various brainwashed people of other heroes they had known who had sacrificed everything for goals and countries that would no longer exist if everyone and everything returned to rukh. I liked how Kogyoku was desperately trying to get him to surrender to her before the arrival of the massive army in an attempt to save his life. The rest, though, is not completely clear. I get most of what Sinbad did, but I don’t really get how Aladdin emerged victorious. There was a big flash of light and then… happy epilogue? Which I guess is fine. The happy epilogue was what I really wanted, anyway. Overall, I enjoyed this series and its themes of self-determination. – Michelle Smith
My Hero Academia, Vol. 20 | By Kohei Horikoshi | Viz Media – This is an excellent volume, but it’s definitely a “wrap up one plot and start another” sort of book. Midoriya stops the “villains” and we see the small series of tragedies behind their backstory. He makes it back for the festival—just—and it’s a blast, with Jiro at her best (the redrawn art helps) and Eri dazzled. Then we see the new hero rankings post-All Might, and Endeavor is finally top of the charts, but being #1 also means that people are after you as well, and there’s a pretty nasty fight towards the end. Will Endeavor win the day? And will Todoroki care? Great volume, but I think it’s all about Jiro and Eri’s big grins in the end. Those are wonderful smiles. – Sean Gaffney
Shortcake Cake, Vol. 5 | By suu Morishita | VIZ Media – Ten has realized she likes Riku after all and returns early after summer vacation because he’s alone in the boardinghouse. Meanwhile, Chiaki is getting bolder about expressing his feelings. The great part is that not only does he get this pertain to Ten—including a smooch at the end and a “What can I do so that you consider me?”—but to Riku, as well. Chiaki’s oddball personality is starting to come through, and the best chapter here is a cute interlude where he lies about the origins of a cup Riku broke so that they can go out shopping for a replacement together. It involves Riku winning an enormous bag of potato chips for Chiaki from a crane game. I’m not super invested in the romance angle of this story, but I do like the main trio of characters! – Michelle Smith
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, Vol. 4 | By Tomo Hirokawa, based on the story by Reki Kawahara | Yen Press – There’s an attempt to ramp up the danger here, given that we’re dealing with the death of NPCs, who technically aren’t real people (though honestly, most of SAO has been built around proving that false lately) and the fact that this time you really can log out and go back to your life. But the threat of the game being hacked, as well as users using drugs to “enhance” their experience, means that this time the Japanese government may finally shut down all these VR games for good—something that Kirito and Asuna in particular are determined to stop. Can they help save Premiere from her fate? And what about Anti-Premiere? – Sean Gaffney
Takane & Hana, Vol. 10 | By Yuki Shiwasu | Viz Media – As expected, Okamon is shot down (very nicely) by Hana. Of course, Takane misunderstands. Indeed, the entire volume is about misunderstandings and poor communication, which is always a good fallback in romantic comedies like this one. We also get the backstory on how Takane met Nicola, and how, like Hana, he was at first completely annoyed by him till he saw his hidden nice side. There are not quite as many amusing faces as previous volumes (though the omake helps make up a lot of the difference). But in return we do get a bit more on the romance front, as a drunken Takane (they had a birthday party for him) ends up kissing Hana… on the nose. That said, the effect is devastating. Fun times. – Sean Gaffney
Yuri Life | By Kurukuruhime | Yen Press – We’ve seen quite a few yuri anthologies about adults lately and this one is a 4-koma one-shot, with each chapter focusing on a different couple, until we come around to the first one at the end. There are couples I found interesting. (One involves the Grim Reaper waiting for a woman to die, falling in love with her, and then having her romance be what enables the woman to keep living… so they have to part.) I will say they are “mostly” adult romances… one is teacher-student, with the student being sixteen, and it didn’t work for me. Nor did the one about the “yandere.” Still, there were more hits than misses, and if you’re looking for cute, sweet yuri that won’t stick in the head, this is decent enough. – Sean Gaffney

May I request “How would I tell her that she’s all I think about?” “Well, I guess she just found out” for HibiTori and “I wouldn’t dare let you down” for SoreNa?
Yes, you may! I love these ships so much and I hope I gave them justice!!
HibiTori
Hiding your feelings for someone was always a pain. More so when people started to point out it was obvious. He didn’t want to show his feelings towards her, but sometimes it was something he found inevitable. She was one of the people who he found most inspiring, and he can’t help but show her this. He really appreciated her.
Now that’s said- we can confirm that he really did think about her a lot- especially that he was staring at Tori Isshiki at the moment, admiring her from afar. He couldn’t stop thinking about her, and it was something that was plain obvious to probably everyone in the room.
For a short moment, Tori stood up and held her mug. “I am going to get some more coffee.” She states this before looking at the rest. “I’ll be back.” She left with the mug she was holding and the eyes of Hibiki followed her until the door behind her was shut. All eyes were currently on him and it took him a while to notice this.
He was there sitting on his chair while everyone was facing his direction. He gave a polite smile, but he felt that there was something they wanted to tell him something. He blinked for a couple of minutes before smiling politely. “What is it?” He asks them and Sayaka raised her arm to give him a signal that she was going to talk.
“We were only noticing how you were looking at Tori. You’re in love with her, aren’t you?” Sayaka had a playful smirk on her lips and he only became more quiet, his face getting slightly red. “I think it’s obvious. There’s no reason you should hide it! You’re basically that meme when Spongebob with that list that has different times but says “Loving You” but instead of “You” it’s Tori.”
Hibiki grew even redder and he began stuttering. “H-How would I tell her that she’s all I think about?” He shook his head. “I mean, I don’t know what… you’re talking about.” Before Sayaka could give another comment about him and Tori being together, the person who left to refill her coffee came back, eyeing everyone.
“The devil is back.” Ichiro rolled his eyes and Tori shot a glare at him. Sayaka fixed herself on her seat and she was laughing at the flustered Hibiki. “Chugging down shit as bitter as you again?” He leaned on his chair and Tori twitched a bit. “Whatever. While you were away, Hibiki was head over heels for a bitch like you.”
Tori began eyeing Hibiki who ended up covering his face with his hands and Sayaka laughed even harder, knowing that he’s just been exposed by the greatest enemy of her crush. “Well, I guess she just found out.” She winked at the male and he was too embarrassed to actually say anything back.
SoreNa
Surprisingly, people actually had the guts to ask to have a shokugeki with Soren and Nana. Soren didn’t mind how it happened, but he was certainly surprised about the sudden challenge. They said their were reasoning was to see if they really deserved the spots in Totsuki. Did someone underestimate him?
He knew that he was only seen as someone who was the son of two well known people, even sometimes as the younger brother of the Second Seat. But he didn’t know someone would challenge him for the sole reason of they didn’t think he deserved the spot. He was more than just that, he was his own person… Why can’t people get that in their mind?
Then there was Nana who was pissed because someone who looked down at her just because of her humble background. Did someone actually look down at her that much just because she came from a diner? She couldn’t forgive someone who thought that about her and she wanted to accept the challenge. She wanted to prove them wrong.
There were two different feelings from two different people but they had the same goal- it was to win the match.
The pair were practicing to cook together, passing things to each other and giving each other a certain signal so they knew what to give the other. “Soren, please pass the mangoes!” Nana requested and Soren immediately handed it to her without hesitance. They were definitely a great pair in all kinds of ways. “Thank you!”
“You’re welcome~!” He winks before doing his part of the work. “I know we’ll be able to win this.” He says with confidence and Nana looks back at him for a moment, losing focus on cooking because she wanted to see how he acted. “I want to show them I have my own talent and they shouldn’t look at me just because of who my family members are.”
“We will be able to win this! We’re doing perfect so far!” She told him this as passion started to burn in her eyes. “I wouldn’t dare let you down! So I’ll do my best too!” She says this with a grin on her face and for a short moment, he looked back at her- having eye contact with the female. He began grinning back. “Also, they said something about my diner- I won’t let them say that again.”
“I wouldn’t let you down either.” He says this while he sliced the meat perfectly even if he wasn’t looking at it at the moment. “We should both prove to them that they’re wrong, yes~?” He felt that her being his partner for this shokugeki gave him even a higher chance of winning, and she felt the same as him.
“Let’s do that!” She looked back at the sliced mangoes she made. “We will definitely prove them wrong.”
