@jessaerys ok shit this took a while but WHATEVER. wammy's lore collection here we go :3c less analysis this time, this is mostly just to archive the main known details we have in canon about the house, and also the people from there more generally. however much you wanna accept all this/take it at face value is up to You, Dear Reader (and tbh y'all should just read all these if ur curious since they're all pretty short + have Interesting narrators. i'll include links to free versions). do whatever you want forever etc. etc. also, SPOILERS. obviously.
LABB: (listen here)
no this book isn't written by ohba. yes i'm including it. shush. anyways, most of the lore in this comes from mello's vague comments about beyond's backstory, but there's a Lot of interesting things established in this, so. here's a bunch of notable quotes. if you're not already familiar, please keep in mind that the narrator of this novel is mello, writing at some point shortly before his death.
"L. The century's greatest detective. In light of his staggering mental abilities, L died an unjust and untimely death. In the public record alone he solved over 3,500 difficult crimes, and sent three times that number of degenerates to prison. He wielded incredible power, was able to mobilize every investigative bureau in the entire world, and was applauded generously for his efforts. And during it all, he never showed his face." (pg. 10)
"So, what you're reading now are my notes about L. It's a dying message, not from me, and not directed at the world. The person who will most likely read this first will probably be that big-headed twit Near. But if that's the case, I will not tell him to shred or burn these pages. If it causes him pain to discover that I knew things about L that he did not, then that's fine." (pg. 10-11)
"I am one of the few people who ever met L as L. When and how I met him...this is the single most valuable memory I have, and I will not write it here, but on that occasion L related to me three stories of his exploits, and the episode involving Beyond Birthday was one of these." (pg. 11)
"Obviously, it never came to light that L--and more importantly, Wammy's House, which raised me until I was fifteen--was deeply connected to the matter, but in fact, they were. L, on principle, never got involved in a case unless there were more than ten victims or a million dollars at stake, and this is the real reason why he belatedly, but aggressively, involved himself in this little case, which only ever had three or four victims. I will explain further in the pages that follow, but for this reason, the case of the Los Angeles BB murders is a watershed event for L, for me, and even for Kira. It was a monumental event for all of us. Why? Because this is the case where L first introduced himself as Ryuzaki." (pg. 11)
"For any one else but those two [Near and Kira], my identity may be of no interest, but I am the old world's runner-up, the best dresser that died like a dog, Mihael Keehl. I once called myself Mello and was addressed by that name, but that was a long time ago. Good memories and nightmares." (pg. 12)
"She [Naomi Misora] briefly considered the idea that Raye Penber, or someone else, was playing a practical joke on her, but she found it hard to believe that anyone would be so bold to sign their name as such. L never revealed himself in public or in private, but Misora had heard several horror stories about what happened to detectives who tried passing themselves off as L. It was safe to say that no one would dare use his name, even in jest." (pg. 18)
"This was L, so he was undoubtedly solving several other difficult cases all at once. Cases all over the world. For him, this case was just one of many parallel investigations. How else could he maintain his reputation as the world's greatest detective? The century's greatest detective, L. The detective with no clients." (pg. 35)
"L had earned a certain degree of hostility from other detectives, and the jealous ones called him a hermit detective, or a computer detective, but neither of these is a particularly accurate representation of the truth. Naomi Misora had also tended to think of L as an armchair detective, but in fact, L was quite the opposite, a very active, aggressive individual. [swoon.] While he had absolutely no interest in social connections, he was certainly not the kind of detective to shut himself up in a dark room with the shades drawn and refuse to come out. It is now common knowledge that the three great post war detectives, L, Eraldo Coil and Danuve were all actually the same person. Certainly, anyone reading these notes is almost certain to know...though they may not know that L engaged in a war with the real Eraldo Coil, and the real Danuve, and emerged victorious, claiming their detective codes. The details of this detective war I will save for another occasion, but in addition to those three names, L possessed many other detective codes. I have no idea how many, but there were at least three digits' worth. And quite a number of those were fairly public detectives--just like, as anyone reading these notes must know, he appeared before Kira, calling himself Ryuzaki or Ryuga Hideki. Of course, Naomi Misora had no way of knowing this, but in my opinion, the name L was, for him, just one of many. He never had any direct connection to that identity, he never thought of himself as L--it was just the most famous and most powerful of the many detective codes he used during his life. The name had its uses, but lacked obscurity. L had a real name that nobody knew, and nobody will ever know, but a name which only he knew never defined him. I sometimes wonder if L himself ever knew exactly which name was written in the Death Note, which name it was that killed him. I wonder." (pg. 43-44)
"If we must discuss why L so adamantly refused to reveal himself, we can explain it very simply: doing so was dangerous. Very dangerous. While the world leaders should make efforts to ensure the safety of all the finest minds, not only for detectives, the fact is that the current societal systems do not allow for this, and L believed he had no choice but to protect his mind under his own power. By simple arithmetic, L's ability in 2002 was the equivalent of five ordinary investigative bureaus, and seven intelligence agencies (and by the time he faced off against Kira, those numbers had leapt upward several more notches). This is easy to think of as a reason to respect and admire someone, but let me say this as clearly as possible: that much ability in one human is extremely dangerous. Modern danger management techniques rely heavily on defusing risk, but his very existence was the exact opposite. In other words, if someone was planning to commit a crime, they would greatly increase their chances of getting away with it by simply killing L before they began. That was why L hid his identity. Not because he was shy, or because he never left the house. To ensure his own safety. For a detective of L's ability, self-preservation and the preservation of world peace were one and the same, and it would not be correct to describe his actions as cowardly or self-centered." (pg. 69 nice)
"So whenever L was working, he would usually have someone else as his public face--and in this particular case, the FBI agent Naomi Misora was filling that role." (pg. 70)
"Beyond Birthday had the eyes of a shinigami congenitally. It was not particularly difficult for him to track down people with the initials B.B. or find people who were fated to die on a certain day at a certain time." (pg. 94)
"Normally contact with a shinigami was a prerequisite for acquisition, but Beyond Birthday had traded nothing--he had seen through those eyes since before he could remember. He knew your name before you said it. He knew the time of death of every person he met." (pg. 94)
"You might think [the eyes] would hardly be useful without a Death Note, but that is simply not the case. The ability to see someone's remaining life is the ability to see death. Death, death, death. Beyond Birthday lived his life unceasingly reminded that all humans would eventually die. From the time he was born he knew the day his father would be attacked by a thug and die, knew the day his mother would die in a train crash. He had these eyes before he was born, which is why he called himself Beyond Birthday. Which is why a child as strange as he was taken in by our home, sweet home--Wammy's House. He was B. The second child in Wammy's House." (pg. 94-95)
"The competition between L and B. L and B's puzzle. 'If L's a genius, then B's an extreme genius. If L's a freak, then B's an extreme freak. Now it's time to get ready. There are things I must do before B can surpass L. Henh henh henh henh.' This thought was the only thing that made him laugh without needing to think about it. And those that know will recognize the laugh of the shinigami. Still grinning to himself, he faced the mirror, brushed his hair, and began applying his makeup. The reflection of himself in the mirror. Himself. As always, he could not see his own time of death. No more than he could see the death of the world." (pg. 96)
"We were raised at Wammy's House in England, in Winchester, as L's successors, as L's alternatives, but that does not mean we knew anything more about L than anyone else. Including myself, only a few of us ever met L as L, and even I knew nothing about L before he met Watari--Quillish Wammy, the genius inventor who founded Wammy's House. Nobody knows what's going on in L's head. But even so, I know how Watari felt. Looking at L's incredible talents from the perspective of an inventor--of course he wanted to make a copy, of course he wanted to create a backup. Anyone would feel the same. As I have already explained, L never appeared in public. L knew that his own death would increase the crime rate all over the world by a few dozen percentage points. But what if they could copy him? What if they could make a backup? That was us. L's children, gathered from all corners of the world.
"But even for a genius like Watari, creating a fake L was easier said than done. Even for Near and I, who were said to be the closest to L...the more we tried to be like him, the closer we got, the father away he was, like chasing a mirage. So I hardly need to tell you what it was like when Wammy's House was first founded, when he was still experimenting. The first child, A, was unable to handle the pressure of living up to L and took his own life, and the second child, Beyond Birthday, was brilliant and deviant. B stood for Backup.
"But B tried to surpass L, not become him...no, that might not be right. I have no way of knowing the inner workings of his mind. He...their generation was not like the fourth generation, with Near and I, all the children bound only to the code with the serial L. They were prototypes, never even given the L code, expected to fail. I prefer to refrain from idle speculation based on my own experiences, but, well, Beyond Birthday may have thought something like this: As long as there was L, B would never be L. As long as the original existed, the copy was always a copy." (pg. 104-105)
"The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. L.A.B.B.--L is After Beyond Birthday. This reading is why I think this name is so much closer to the killer's intentions than the Wara Ningyo Murders, or the Los Angeles Serial Locked Room Killings. I wasn't talking about the names on a purely stylistic basis. Whether Beyond Birthday had put that much thought into it I have no idea, but if he had a specific reason for choosing to commit his murders in L.A., then that is probably why. I am sure he had a much more personal obsession with L as an individual than Near or I ever did. I can understand why someone would become a criminal in order to fight against a detective, which is why I can write something like this, but even so. What did he hope to accomplish by killing unrelated people? Or perhaps B simply wanted to meet L. Then he could use the eyes of the shinigami he'd been born with and see L's real name, see when L would die. He would be able to figure out who L was. Beyond Birthday had never told anyone that he had the eyes of a shinigami, and it would not surprise me at all if he believed himself to be some kind of shinigami." (pg. 105-106)
"Beyond Birthday challenged L. And L accepted the challenge. To put it bluntly, the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases were nothing but an internal struggle, a civil war within our home, sweet home-- Wammy's House. Unfortunate for the victims that got mixed up in it, but even if Beyond Birthday had not killed them, all those victims were fated to die that day, at that time, for some other reason, so logically and morally, their deaths were unavoidable. So in the strictest sense of the word, the only one who really got mixed up in their war was Naomi Misora." (pg. 106)
"L was said to never move on a case unless there were more than ten victims or a million dollars at stake. The only exceptions to this were cases at difficulty level L (extremely fitting), or when L had personal reasons compelling him to get involved. The Los Angeles BB Murders were both of these. I hardly need to point out the difficulty by this stage of the story, and L was essentially fighting his own dead copy. [harsh, dude.] The current head of Wammy's House had told Quillish Wammy/Watari, who had told L about B's disappearance in May, and ever since L had been looking for him even as he solved other cases. Wammy's House only knew him as B--they did not know his real name, Beyond Birthday, so this search was near impossible, but L knew who the killer was. He had not been looking for a killer so much as he was looking for a case. L had been waiting, expecting Beyond Birthday to do something to challenge him. L could move any policeman in the world, but in this case, he could not ask anyone for help except Naomi Misora...more than likely, for this reason. I don't think L really put that much stock in honor, but everyone is embarrassed by their own sins, and nobody wants those missteps to become public knowledge. L was the goal of everyone in Wammy's House. Every one of us wanted to surpass him. To step over him. To step on him. M did, N did, and B did. M as a challenger, N as a successor. B as a criminal." (pg. 116-117)
"No matter what she did, she had no way of knowing. That this killer, Beyond Birthday, could tell someone's name and time of death just by looking at their face, that he had been born with the eyes of a shinigami--she had no way of knowing that fake names were useless with him, completely and utterly pointless. How could she have known? Even Beyond Birthday himself could not explain how he had been born with the eyes of the shinigami, how he could use them with no payment, with no arrangement. Neither Misora nor L knew why, and, obviously, neither do I. The closest thing to an explanation I can offer is that there are shinigami stupid enough to drop their notebooks in our world, so there might well be shinigami stupid enough to drop their eyes." (pg. 193-140)
"'So, Naomi Misora...' said L, wrapping up. But Misora hastily stammered, 'Um, er, L...' but then she hesitated, not sure if she should ask this or not. 'You...know the killer, right?' 'Yes, as I said. He is B.' 'I don't mean like that...I mean, he's someone you know personally?' On the 16th, L had said that he had known the killer was B, and she had sort of known ever since, but two days before, L had said something that changed her guess to conviction. Whatever you do, please catch the killer. The century's greatest detective, L, would never say that about some ordinary indiscriminate serial killer. And the way his letter was just one letter long... 'Yes,' the synthetic voice agreed." (pg. 144-145)
"'I have nothing to do with him,' L said. 'To be completely accurate, I do not even know B. He is simply someone I am aware of. But none of this affects my judgement. Certainly, I was interested in this case, and began to investigate it because I knew who the killer was. But that did not alter the way I investigated it, or the manner in which my investigation proceeded. Naomi Misora, I cannot overlook evil. I cannot forgive it. It does not matter if I know the person who commits evil or not. I am only interested in justice.'" (pg. 145)
"My great and respected predecessor, the man whose actions were a strong influence on me personally, B, B.B., Beyond Birthday--obviously, I need hardly explain again that the murders themselves were not his purpose. So what was he doing? Again, I hardly need to explain--he was challenging the man he copied, the century's greatest detective L. A matter of winning or losing. A contest." (pg. 159)
"Since L could solve every case no matter how challenging, if he created a case so difficult that L as unable to solve it, B would have defeated L." (pg. 159)
"He knew that the moment he took action Wammy's House and Watari would alert L, so he did not even bother trying to stop them. He could only guess at which stage of his plan L would start to come after him, so he prepared things carefully, ready for L's entrance at any point." (pg. 159)
"B approached Naomi Misora, calling himself Rue Ryuzaki. Rue Ryuzaki--L.L. For anyone from Wammy's House, there could be no higher goal than identifying yourself with that letter--and Beyond Birthday seized this case as his chance. even Naomi Misora knew what had happened to detectives falsely identifying themselves as L, and B was from Wammy's House, so he knew this better than anyone--so this choice suggests the strength of his decision. He never once intended to survive--had had made up his mind. He was ready." (pg. 160) [trans. note: the name "Rue" in Japanese, ルエ (ru-e), is an anagram of エル (e-ru), which is how L is pronounced.]
"Naturally, his face and fingerprints would burn as well--he had always disguised himself with heavy makeup while he was with Misora, and he never left a picture behind, so even if someone directly affiliated with Wammy's House inspected the body, they would have no idea that Rue Ryuzaki/Beyond Birthday was B from Wammy's House. He had left nothing to connect Beyond Birthday to B." (pg. 162)
"B was presenting the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases to L as a case that could never be solved. That L could never solve. In other words, he had never prepared any clear solution to it--since the killer had committed suicide, disguised as the fourth victim, there was no longer a killer to catch, and no clues left to catch him with." (pg. 163)
"My poor, poor predecessor. Not only was he utterly and completely defeated, but he survived, driving home his embarrassment...he must have longed for death. Accept my condolences, B." (pg. 169-170)
"If I had space left over I had intended to carry right on into the other two stories I heard from L: the story of the detective war between the three greatest detectives, all solving that infamous bio-terror case, with guest appearances by the last of the alphabet, the first X to the first Z from Wammy's House; and the story of how the world's greatest inventor, Quillish Wammy, aka Watari, had first met L, then about eight year's old--the case that gave birth to the century's greatest detective, the Winchester Mad Bombings that occurred just after the third World War. But however objectively I look at things, I do not have the space or the time. Oh well." (pg. 170)
"She had spoken to L only once after the killer was arrested. He thanked her for helping to solve the case, and told her just a little about the background of the case. That B had been a candidate to succeed L, and that the pressure of that had driven him off track." (pg. 171)
"And a few years after his arrest, on January 21st, 2004, serving a life sentence in a California prison, Beyond Birthday died of a mysterious heart attack." (pg. 173)
C-KIRA: (read here)
near grief :pensive: pretty sure this was animated in the anime movie thing?? tbh i still need to watch that. Very interesting as some of the most recent post-main story lore we get about wammy's imo. less quotes now + more summarizing since these are just comics
near has apparently only "talked" to L once (in quotes since he didn't actually say anything, just sat in the back of the room doing a puzzle the entire time. real asf girl)
during this "conversation," roger or one of the orphanage heads set up the usual L screen + a camera/mic so that L could see all the kids and answer their questions.
notably, mello & near didn't ask any questions, just lurked in the back watching L with a "nasty look in [their] eyes," which near assumes is what made him pick them to be his top successors, considering the fact that he didn't actually look at any of their data. (somewhat seems to imply that L didn't actually give a shit about grades or anything like that when picking his main successors?)
while answering questions, near is caught off guard by one of L's answers. to transcribe it all directly here--
NEAR (NARRATING): At the time, I didn't think L would put it so bluntly. L: It's not a sense of justice. L: Figuring out difficult cases is my hobby. If you measured good and evil deeds by current laws, I would be responsible for many crimes. L: The same way you all like to solve mysteries and riddles, or clear video games more quickly... For me too, its simply prolonging something I enjoy doing. L: That's why I only take on cases that pique my interest. It's not justice at all. And if it means being able to clear a case, I don't play fair, I'm a dishonest, cheating human being, who hates losing...
Tumblr media
not quite the monster speech, but fascinating all the same. near seems to imply that this answer sent some kids into a despair spiral, but it actually caused him to like L more and more, feeling that he was, "exactly the kind of person who wanted to achieve his own goals." kinda goes against the HTR13 ohba comment? shrug
The Wammy's House/L's One Day: (read here)
honestly i interpret these comics as like. canon crack fic. but anyways, here's the established L lore included in these two.
L was taken into wammy's as a nameless orphan at an unknown but likely quite young age
very soon after arriving he beats up all the other kids he meets--
Tumblr media
he is "utterly incompatible," with all the other kids and monopolizes all the things he likes simply cause he's stronger than them and presumably could fight them for it-- naturally, he ends up usually just playing by himself
notably, this all establishes that L isn't the first kid at wammy's, that there was already at least one generation of older kids living there before he got there (and could eventually turn it into an L successor creating machine)
once watari realizes that L has some outstanding mental abilities, he gives him his own private room and a computer. afterwards, L spends most of his time sitting in front of the puter by himself
L requests that watari buy 1 million pounds with Japanese yen and tells him which stocks to buy, causing his assets to reach "almost 20,000 times the original amount," in two years. visually this is depicted as happening when L is still quite young
several years later, L stumbles across a serial murder case in the news, which is the first he solves, starting his new career path
-
L can stay awake for 100+ hours and then gets over it by sleeping for like 17 hours. pictures also may imply that he doesn't actually sleep in a bed, but just lies down sideways in his chair. RIP yotsuba light's perfectly designed sleep schedule
L also shits/pisses in the same position he usually sits in (frog-pose), facing the tank south park style
he is a big fan of cleanliness!! human washing machine etc. etc. honestly i think this is just another way for him to hold that same crouched position
text says he always has, "ten or so identical sets of clothes prepared for him," since he's picky about it, but the art itself shows way more than ten. also rare shirtless L moment?? (watari helps)
Tumblr media
L does in fact go outside!! he likes roller coasters/theme parks, swinging, art galleries, live music, etc. though most of the time he just sits in his room thinking thru shit n solving cases.

Did B Meet L?
I can only speak for the English translation of Death Note: Another Note: The LABB Murder Cases, but here is what L actually had to say about knowing B.
Tumblr media
L does not explicitly state that he never met B. Instead, he says that he does not 'know' B and is simply aware of him, which could be interpreted to mean any number of things. You can meet someone and interact with them and still reasonably claim that you do not 'know them', in the sense that you do not know them well.
In this scene, L insists to Misora that his relationship with B (or lack thereof) will not affect the case; I don't see why he wouldn't be absolutely clear about never having met B if this is the point he's trying to make. Especially if L feels that B's actions reflect on him, which Mello considers here:
Tumblr media
Mello also speculates that B may have committed The LABB Murder Cases in an attempt to meet L. However, he admits several times over the course of the novel that his interpretations of B's motives are just that, speculation. This guess is made further unlikely by B's intention to die at the conclusion of the case and the fact that he expected L to send a pawn in his place. Mello assumes they never met, but he has no way of knowing.
Tumblr media
Beyond Birthday's disguise, Rue Ryuzaki, is an accurate enough imitation of L for Misora to think of him immediately when she meets L in person at the end of the book. How B learned about L's appearance and mannerisms in the first place, however, is not clear.
Tumblr media
So what's the conclusion? Well, it's vague. I do think the book implies that L and B never met, but unless the Japanese translation is markedly different, you can still argue that they may have met without contradicting the text.
A very short uncomplicated analysis, but I do think it's worth talking about!

PROPAGANDA
ARCEE (TRANSFORMERS) (CW: Transphobia)
1.) Transformers has had a troubled history with female transformers as a whole. They didn't really even exist until Season 2. And while they've all gotten the short end of the stick until recently, Arcee, who kinda ended up The Main Girl (sorry Elita) has gotten the brunt of this mistreatment. Mostly talking G1 here.
Toys kept getting cancelled over and over even though she's a main, important character of Season 3. She didn't get a decent widely available toy that actually resembled her G1 version (first one was a Botcon exclusive Blackarachnia redeco which I disqualify because convention-exclusive spider is not what I was looking for, and Binaltech is just kinda a pink and white robot who looks nothing like her, just with her name slapped on) until 2014. I wish I could use bold here, because there's no such thing as uppercase numbers. Before that, you just kinda had to look at the toys from other canons and squint because Hasbro doesn't think the pink girl toy will sell well.
And misogyny present in the fiction? A lot can be summed up in a couple words, namely, "Furman, why?" While most people go with his excuses of not believing in Cybertronian gender, it really comes across as him seeing men as the default, neutral state of being, and women as something that must be explained. Poorly. Explained very poorly. Not to explain things in Tv Tropes terms, but I have to, it reeks of the 'Men Are Generic, Women Are Special' https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MenAreGenericWomenAreSpecial trope.
Let's get us started with Prime's Rib. Oh my goodness, Prime's Rib. So, Furman doesn't believe in Cybertronian gender (and male is seen as default), and this has reflected in his writing. He's going along perfectly fine writing his dudes in the US run of the Marvel comics, Arcee entirely ignored… but what's this? The connected UK comic has her. He can't just ignore her. So, well. He needs an explanation. Explaining a plot hole isn't bad. It's how he did it. Arcee was created in response to a feminist mob who was mad Cybertronians were all guys. I don't think I need to explain this one.
I'm too tired to explain her treatment in IDW now. Something something unnatural attempt to introduce gender into a genderless species, something something, really weird uncomfortable treatment, it's a long story and I'm not an IDW expert, read the TFWiki page for Spotlight: Arcee.
I'm sure there's more in other media, but I've blathered on way too long and I'm starting to get frustrated and tired and AGH FURMAN WHY. He's gotten better, too, definitely not judging his present self over comics that are from many years ago, but asdfghjkl
Ok fine, one more thing. This isn't G1 but Michael Bay stated in interviews that he gleefully killed her movieverse version off specifically because he didn't like her. It's not NECESSARILY misogyny motivated. I wouldn't deem it misogyny coming from a different director with a different film series. Transformers writers have had personal beef with random characters which they wished to unceremoniously kill off before--Animated Beachcomber comes to mind, even if the writers never got the chance. But it's also Michael Bay's Transformers we're talking about here. Can you blame me for thinking that?
Arcee has gotten better treatment in recent years. Furman's clumsy attempts to explain Arcee's gender in tbe IDW run were slowly retconned into some pretty decent trans rep by other authors, she's really just come into her own as a character. But it was a long and rocky road to get there, and I believe we all need to acknowledge that.
2.) Was initially introduced in the 80's transformers movie only after being strong armed by Ron Friedman, being the first female presenting robot to be seen in the show. bright pink, cause, ya know, female. has the most romantic involvement of any transformer ever across all transformations media, cause, ya know, female, and god forbid she be her own person when hasbro can stick to her to Some Guy. she was made trans in the 2005 continuity and was immediately made berserk as a result. marvel made her a freak science experiment to shame feminists. why does the robot have curves when no one else does istg
i love her too much to stand by idly while she's treated this way
3.) hasbro keeps trying to convince people that her and elita-one (another pink fem character) are actually the same. "who cares same lore different names. what do you mean they're different characters?" and constantly flips their lore, designs, and names around with every single FUCKING continuity ie transformers rise of the beasts where they use arcee's design but call her elita-one SMASHES MY HEAD INTO THE WALL bro there's a whole group of autobots called the "female transformers". i don't. there's so little female representation in this series that hasbro decided the best way to fix it would be… segregation, ig. arcee is apart of it obviously. elita-one leads it. reminds me that i should (and maybe sick a couple friends on this poll) make a submission for elita because JESUS CHRIST hasbro fucked her up also apparently in some continuities arcee is trans. upon getting bottom surgery it fucking. idk how turns her berserk?? it's so weird. mind controlled/sleeper agent in like half of the fucking continuities for some reason. in every single one of these continuities she either gets with Springer or Hot Rod and ends up betraying them. every single time why does the robot have boobs
NAOMI MISORA (DEATH NOTE)
1.) I know everyone is gonna submit Misa but honestly she had it worse.
She gets introduced as this competent lady who's gonna help find Kira but then she just, decides to show some teenager her real ID as a show of trust and whoops that's Kira.
Also part of her introduction was her fiance going "You don't need to worry about this tracking down the killer nonsense, you're gonna be my wife, you should just be worried about raising kids in the future :)" or some shit. And it's barely addressed, because she just fucking dies.
2.) She was the only woman in the series to show any level of competence. She figured out more about how the death note works from some small context clues than L did in considerably less time. She was apparently so competent that the author decided to kill her off despite initially planning to make her a main character, fearing she would distract from the L and Light rivalry.
3.) the victim of “writer doesn’t understand women and also hates them” disease. Like, seriously, the author of Death Note could only imagine a female FBI agent as the fiancée of another, more senior FBI agent. The main character Light kills her fiancé Raye Penber (in honestly a really tightly written and cool episode) and so she tries to figure out who killed her husband. Unlike Raye who only figured out that Light was Kira as he was dying because Light basically told him, Naomi figures it out a lot sooner so oops guess she’s gotta die because she’s too good at her job.

Death Note: Another Note (revisited)ー An in-depth analysis
*
Everything I don't go over concerning Misora or L is already documented here.
Definitely interesting how Ryuzaki isn't listed as an additional character. Strange and dangerous choice but okay
Tumblr media
And a VERY intense opening line. God I fucking love the concept of BB.
Tumblr media
This paragraph actually makes him seem more obscure than I assume most fans who portray him make him out to be. I like to think this isn't just intended for B's Ryuzaki persona but his entire life up to the point of the case's end, as the one untainted glance we get of 'B' apart from his motive. ("Bye-bye Angel" too. Was that intentional?)
Mello sounding like the bastardization of a christian mom when explaining "the difference between the Almighty and a shinigami"
Mihael "best dresser that died like a dog" Keehl. Hand to our hearts
I'm not even going to bother with setting up theories about how Mello even knew what Misora was doing before L first reached out to her or why L would've bothered to tell him, so, alas, it's just a book. It's a book and it needs basic story telling. But actually, making Mello the narrator sets up many plot holes which I'll probably refrain from pointing out. But you can just tell a story like it's a thing... You had your chance to expand on Mello, now it's the biker chick's turn. Just let it be a novel,
Beyond bby most people don't usually look at impersonal strategy murder and assume the least scandalous part of it/the victim's names as worthy title, sweety honeybee babygirl booboobear (ok i'm done..except probably not, prepare for more ahead)
Tumblr media
(jk i'm aware he tried to plaster "BB" all over the case, not just the names. It does make sense that the media don't care about things like that, though)
Side note that I can't understand why they created a whole new character and then outright stated 'we won't tell you jack shit about them' (except then go on to do just that. Thanks, Mello)
Wait! L calls her sama.... (also bothered to do her the honors of tending to her background. Create that comfortable work enviroment, king)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
B drugging all his victims before killing them could indicate several things: 1. He wanted to show off his smarts & resources, 2. It was one of several hints that the killings were purely strategic and no act of passion (like not cutting through the shirt, the locked room decision etc.), 3. That B is not a fighter. He didn't want to get into physical altercations with the victims, which could just as well mean that he simply didn't trust himself with such a task (we know that he, in fact, can fight somewhat, so that's either a shred-of-respect thing or strict perfectionism)
Tumblr media
ALTHOUGH... Beyond is more skilled with weapons than muscle, taking a heavy bat (that he only utilizes when Misora proves a fierce opponent, swings it once and then retreats) and blackjack to ambush Misora. It could've been a caution move to not be in danger of having his mask undone in close combat but he seems a good dodger and rather quick on foot, making more sense of why he used clean, non-taxing methods of murder like stabbing or asphyxiation with a rope.
I'm actually going to encourage discourse about the intensive cleaning of crime scenes in the comments. People headcanon that B has OCD but it's more likely that it's another attempt at appearing "abnormal". It's a pretty large and extensive effort to clean every surface of an entire home, which makes this cleaning-impulse-picture Beyond tries to paint a more forged-seeming one. He also did not clean the blood at Backyard Bottomslash's scene, instead moving around it. The contradictionー if or if not intentionalー is kinda funny, I'll give him that. We need more 'overly committed but tired' Beyond (just noticed what i did with this one in particular..)
Man, i adore him.
L, too. Funny man, busy schedule.
Mello is like "I'll save the stories of this dead individual for another time" and it's his testament
Beyond saying this line actually heightens the likelihood of his generally clumsy pretense skills severely. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason as to why he'd respond this way apart from maybe seeming non-threatening, except this line would go completely against its very purpose, creating a double-negative & making him seem more dubious.. Or. He just doesn't give a fuck
Tumblr media
L asking the question "was he cool?", by the way, is solely based off of the assumption that B trying to make himself look as freakish as possible would lead to him showing up as a caricature of him to steer the yoke L would send to where he needs them. It is not far-fetched, considering the 'LABB' choice, yet is still quite daring, which we should appreciate as a peak comedy moment in my opinion. I mean L could've just sent a guy to where Misora said they'd investigate next to arrest Beyond but he largely wanted the final room to prove B would lock himself in and also..maybe he thougt it was funny. Just a little bit. Swallowing his pride for the guy his position in the world traumatized to the point where he's planning suicide as part of a revenge act made L steer just a little bit in direction of "alright, let him do his thing". Anyway BB is hilarious and Misora is, unfortunately, obtuse due to avarage mental wellness. L is noticeably anxious but I know they flock at humor.
We have page 69 and the first pages of Opposition, which do the analyzing of other matters for me (everyone). And to be transparent: Good on you, canon, for pointing it out or whatever, but also... Fuck you-
Tumblr media
From this point on throughout the main chunk of the book it can only be said that B relies exclusively on the fact that Misora does not tell L closer details of the investigation. It's quite impressive how safe he feels to even outright lead the investigation, even showing up with a pretty much unattainable copy of the crossword puzzle, knowing all books and patternless numbers by heart and even mentioning Misora's capoeira (P.138) although never having seen her practice it as Ryuzaki and instead knowing about it from the back-alley incident. Yeah. Also showing up pretentious & arrogant af and more power to him in all honesty
Alright, let's get to the promised practical stuff. Time to rant a bit about how LABB is written, because it would've been vastly better off without Mello as an all-knowing narrator. It makes the plot so obvious it's not even clear if they're trying to hide Ryuzaki's identity or not, since there's a big paragraph dedicated to explaining the connections given at the very end like it had been a secret. It's messy. It's not satisfying. The reverse psychology doesn't hit. But let's get to the thumb turn lock lock picking...
There are a couple ways to pick a thumb turn lock, in opposition to its key-only counterpart, making it less safe in mathematical terms of chance. The technique used by B, though, involved no pins or metal sticks to shove into its innards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So... is this "simplified description to make it easier to understand" actually sensical?
Well, using even more words to disect this is unfortunate but here we are.
First off: I do not know how a nail with a full doll nailed to it can be "directly opposite the gap under the door". How large is the gap below that door for the thread to 'not touch it'? The explanation it comes with makes sense but the amounts of times Misora mentions that a "hole in the wall is waist-high" or 'across from the door handle' can be confusing. Thing is, the Wara Ningyo are nailed to different walls of the room. Granted, Mello doesn't say what kind of triangle the thread would form, but geometry jokes aside this whole set-up makes everything fall apart slightly for reasons to follow.
I believe what makes it so difficult to understand is that, by logic of this text, the doll at the east/west wall in relation to the door was ground-level in contrary to the one on the north wall, which was latch-level. This is weird though, as it would have pulled the latch forward instead of to its side. The correct position would need for the northern doll to be foot-level and the east/west one to be waist-level. But let us just overlook this crucial detail since there's exactly no picture of the kind of wonderful locks we're talking about. Again, the strange hight difference of the dolls is painfully telling of some greater trick but seemingly no suspicions were raised. But if this oh-so genius trick were to be discovered, B's whole 'they can't prove my suicide' aspect would crumble. There's a more than likely possibility that L could've made a case by just the fact that the case is plastered with "B"s. The 'L is After B.B.' (if someone were to argue it, in finicky fact, as double B) choice might have been able to be solved by extensive digging (which apparently paid off, since L was able to call Beyond by his full name when retelling this to Mello) or simply the philosophy that someone showing up mocking L (without even necessity to bring up his appearance but simply the name the all-knowing, highly suspicious, unlicensed detective with no track record went withー "L.L.") would've been most likely the salty runaway, B from Wammy's House, and therewith the killer and last victim.
But, at the ultimatum, if the locked room mystery were to be considered by the already relevant mantra of "the clue is not what's there, but what isn't", the now absent Wara Ningyo at the sideways wall would've been the simple and significant nail in the coffin.
So, in response to the question posed above: No. Not very sensical. But being so cocky to encourage trying it out is quite the move
*
And here we are. Thank you for reading. Feel free to ask any and all further questions below. I've gathered this largely to unwrap possibly scattered/unclear aspects of Another Note & am open to do more if needed. This book is sorta iconic with all its odd choices and flaws & I like talking about it

🌧️ and 🌪️ for the ask game? :<
Hi sorry this took me two days to get back to because I literally could not pick a single angst segment to single out from Rises the Moon bc everything I have written so far feels like being kicked in the ribs. But I think I delivered
🌪️ Sum up a WIP with a few fic tropes/Ao3 tags.
Angst and Hurt/Comfort, Canon Rewrite, Character Study, Fix-It of Sorts, technically it falls under Ventfic since that what it started as but it’s evolved by this point
🌧️ Share something angsty from your WIP.
Get Revue Frontier’d (I’m so sorry)
Writing snippet under the cut. The usual
“But you’re the one who changed me!” Embers flicker in Misora’s eyes, stalwart and unrelenting. “Admiration and despair. Jealousy and hope. A selfish, greedy, and arrogant stage girl who continues to go after brilliance! I want to stand in the center of the stage, too – I want to be the lead!”
Then why are you here? Aruru wants to snap back.
Every moment you stay behind, the lead role slips further away.
If you want to run, then run.
Turn around, give chase to that distant star, and never look back for me.
See if I care.
And yet she bites her lip, and drowns out the vitriol.
Because she knows she’ll care.
She’s always cared.
And even when they’re long gone, she’ll never have it in her to stop.
“That's... That's just—!” Aruru falters, caught between impulse and rationality, a panic-fuelled tug-of-war. “That's like I did something bad!”
The other girl’s expression darkens; Aruru knows the answer she’s going to get before it even comes.
“...Yes. You've done a terrible thing,” she says. “You captivated us. You changed our lives.”
You dragged us up here.
“If I never learned about such brilliance, I could've stayed innocent. If I didn't know about such passion, I could've quit. You guided me and pulled me up onto the stage.”
You dragged us into this hell.
“Aruru... You made me into a stage girl with your brilliance. I can't go back to those innocent days!”
We’ve been damned to the same demise as you by your own hand.
“You captivated us with that brilliance of yours… I won't allow you to leave the stage like that!”
If we go down, you come with us.
“Why? Why can't you leave me alone?” Her voice rises, chest tight and fists clenched and heart pounding so hard she can feel the pulse in her bones. “Karen also told me she'll be waiting for me on stage… Why can't you all just leave me alone?!”
“The answer’s obvious!” The fire behind Misora’s eyes grows brighter. “Because we want to see you on stage!”
You dug this grave, Aruru Otsuki.
“I know I’m being self-contradictory! I know we'll have to fight one another one day as long as we're aiming to be the lead. But... you know? It's your brilliance that changed me. You've stolen my heart and captivated me. Of course I'd want to see you on stage. I want to be the lead, but... I also want to see your brilliance! I want to see it!”
Now lie in it.
“I was captivated, but felt frustrated,” she continues. The floor below Aruru feels like it’s opening up, shadows threatening to swallow her where she stands. Subconsciously, she almost begs them to do so faster.
“I don't want to lose, but I really love you!”
And amidst the overwhelming barrage of emboldened words and narrowly-dodged blows, that is the first strike to finally land.

Hi! so for the kissing prompts: I'd love to see Banjou/Sento with either 1, 11, 14 or 25 (or a combo of those, whatever inspires you!) And then also Philip/Shoutarou with 24.
Oh my, that's a selection with a clear bent that I appreciate. Just to provide a reference for those of you following along at home, we're looking at 1) hot, steamy kiss, 11) collarbone kiss, 14) kiss along the hips, and/or 25) "we need to leave immediately and go somewhere private." I think that's a very fun array. an excuse
They are not alone.
"Look, it's gotta have that, that bite, y'know? Ramen hasn't got enough body."
"Enough--udon has too much body, it's like a mouthful of worms."
They are in the bedroom, and Sento is pinned to the wall in the corner next to the doorless entryway, and he is trying so hard to be quiet. Trying and mostly succeeding, he has a hand clapped over his mouth to keep it shut. Mostly he's keeping his eyes shut too, except that sometimes he glances down at the top of Ryuuga's head and then has to look away as quickly as he can so that he doesn't start up making noises.
Ryuuga's mouth is on Sento's too-hollow stomach, his too-bare hipbones, Sento needs to eat more, Ryuuga's going to have to make him dinner later. Noodles or something. After this, though.
"I--you don't like scallions?"
"They get stuck in my teeth!"
"They're so good, though, my mama used to grow 'em in her garden."
The point--the point is. Ryuuga's being stupid, he knows he's being stupid about things even as he's fumbling with the fly of Sento's belt, Sawa and Kazumi could drop their stupid noodle argument and walk in on them in here, it's not like they really have any privacy.
The point is, it's something about Gentoku's hand on Sento's shoulder.
Like, there's that thing that Gentoku had with going on with Katsuragi--whether it was a crush or they were actually fucking or they were in love or what, Ryuuga doesn't know. And mostly even that isn't something he thinks about, because Katsuragi was Katsuragi and Sento is Sento.
Sento moves his hand for a second and whispers, breathless, "You're being weird about something."
"No, I'm not," Ryuuga mutters against his navel.
"I'm going to figure out what it is." Of course Sento's hair is standing up now, and why does Ryuuga think that's attractive? "Is it something I did, or something that someone else did?"
He'd been working on something earlier, a coding thing for Gentoku's belt, and Ryuuga can't quite figure out what got him, exactly, if it was the position of Gentoku's fingers or the way he'd shifted in close to hear what Sento was saying or what. He can't even figure out what makes this different from any other time Gentoku and Sento have talked just the two of them, except that it is.
"I'm being totally normal." The belt buckle finally behaves itself, and then the fly of Sento's too-baggy jeans, the button on his tattered boxers. "This is me being normal."
"You're definitely preoccupied with haaah," and Sento's hand goes back over his mouth.
"Don't even get started with that salt broth nonsense--you hear something?"
"Yeah, I think it was just Misora up in the coffee shop. Let me guess, it's curry udon or nothing for you."
And, like, Ryuuga, he's been in a weird fucking mood all day, itchy and horny and stir-crazy, all he'd really needed was an excuse. Seems like Sento's been feeling the same way, too, if the enthusiasm with which he "let" Ryuuga haul him into the not-really-private bedroom is anything to go on.
Ryuuga flicks his eyes up, and Sento is flushed and looking down at him, hand over his mouth, and right, fuck, how could Ryuuga be jealous about Gentoku of all fucking people?
He pulls back, listening to Sento's shuddering gasp, and whispers, voice a bit hoarse, "Honestly I was just looking for an excuse to get you somewhere private."
Sento stifles laughter, starts to say, "This isn't exa-a-actly priv--" and has to shut himself up again.
"I always liked cold soba with dipping sauce best, I've never been a fan of soups."
"...Beardy, how can you not like soup?"
"I hate to say it, but I'm with Kazumi on this one, that's just strange."
For a moment a soft, incoherent, "Nnn," slips out of Sento's mouth, and he bites down on the side of his hand to stifle himself.
"There's that--I swear I heard something over in the bedroom, I'm gonna go--hey, what're you both grabbing on me for?"
"I just, ah, I really don't think there's anything we need to check on."

Kamen Rider Build for the ask game maybe? :O
Favorite Male: Sento - I can't even put into words why I like him so much, but he's my favorite Heisei (Phase II) Rider. I really just think he has great development and I really like how his identity as Sento was dealt with - You were someone else but you aren't that person but you are, and you have to deal with the sins of your past and the fact that you have to live with it. You have to take accountability and recognize what your actions mean but you can't just dwell in the past, not when you can save people and not when you have the power to do something about this. It's all really great and it made me really appreciate Sento as a character.
Favorite Female: Misora - Backbone of the team, like where would they be without her? Deserves all the happiness in the world if we're being honest here.
Favorite Pairing: Banjo & Sento - Literally a Best Match. They taught each other what it means to live, what it means to be human, and what it means to be a Kamen Rider.
Least Favorite Character: Juzaburo Namba - Maybe we shouldn't raise children to be loyal and pledge allegiance to an industry, or fund experimentation on unwilling parties, or assassinate people, or orchestrate a war????
Who’s most like me: Banjo - I too have a lot of thoughts but also few at the same time
Most attractive: Banjo
Three more characters that I like: Kazumin, Sawa, and Evolt
Give me a series & I'll tell you...

[Kamen Rider Build Hot Take Warning] I think my frustration with Kamen Rider Build, despite loving it so much, boils down to the feel that it is like a playthrough of a videogame where you got a good ending, but not the true ending.
Spoilers and elaboration ahead
Because no way did they make a final suit whose main feature is the ability to rearrange things at the molecular level and able to to cure all known disease, remove a chemical that blocks empathy AND THEN show that it would work on the final villain, and then erase the motherfucker from existence because the conclusion they came to after all of that is that there is no way they can bring out the good that has been proven to exist within this person WHEN YOU LITERALLY HAVE THE FINAL FORM THAT CAN DO EXACTLY THAT.
And you can really tell which sidequests and dialogue options they messed up. Here's a few of them that come to mind.
There was no closure for Katsuragi's mother. I know they had their hands full because it feels like a shitstorm is happening every episode, but they have went back and forth to Hokuto several times, and they didn't even consider stopping by. Hell, when Hokuto was taken over, they should have thought about the mother too!
2. Misora's Dad didn't wake up. This man would have had the best insight to the mind of Evolto, after sharing a mind after all of these years. He could see the evil he wrought, but this person also would have been able to see when Evolto would genuinely care for people, that by creating a facade of kindness, he was able to manifest it true to people around him, and maybe, just maybe, feel that kindness back. which leads into...
3. They fucked up the dialogue options and took Evolto's words at face value. He keeps on insisting that he's an asshole who only cares about himself, and to most of the cast, there is no reason to doubt that. But for people like Kiryu and Banjou, time and time again, he helps them. He keeps on bringing them up and helping them face their hardships. There's a good reason why they keep prodding why? why would you help us? And he keeps saying it's a mystery, or it's for a master plan. and maybe it's just me, but maybe they ask and ask and ask because they're not taking his bullshit for an answer.
4. They were too late. He has finally doubled down. Unable to come to terms with his own emotions, he crossed the line. It used to be that casualties were minimised through proxy battles. but he went on committing mass murder. Thousands of people every few minutes died.
5. V Cinemas definitely scream like sidequests that you were meant to complete before the ending. Evolto appears, another blud appears. Evolto shows he can be good(or maybe not??). Grease hijinks. Nebula Juice definitely reads like endgame gear they skipped. and FINALLY, I am saying that it does rub me the wrong way that with the story that we have, one wouldn't be wrong to say they should have erased not just one bad actor who both the power and motivation to fuck up earth(Evolto), but all bad actors similar to him(Blood Tribe). "damn we should have killed Evolto's brother too" "damn, there's more like evolto and we should have killed them too" "we should have been more thorough with erasing them".
I mean, holy shit, allow me translate that: I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE THAT THE SHOW ENDED WITH NARRATIVE IMPLICATIONS THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE COMMITTED GENOCIDE, THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE THOROUGH WITH KILL ALL OF THE BLOOD TRIBE.
And this definitely could have not been the case if they had shown even one person from the blood tribe to be redeemable. Like, you know, Evolto.

hiiiii hi hi haiii guys!!! ^_^ I don't rlly know much about these revstar girlies (the anime is on my to watch list! i just have to wait for the stars to align in my brain to. let me watch it 🥲) but i wanted to send in a request so!!!! how bout y'all make something self indulgent!! And to wanna make it interesting..... maybe you can make something for a kin/comf that isn't too popular by. fandom standards? or is just underappreciated in general?? if that makes sense?? okay thats allll have a nice day guys have fun bye byeeeee :33
-Cherry @/sunbedo 🍒💕
Tumblr media
CHERRY!!! here's hers and here's mine!! @sunbedo
Hiii hi hi hiiiiiii!! omg don't worry, this was incredibly fun to do and it had us both thinking about the popularity of certain characters and who we'd like to see more content of, so we appreciate you sending this in! also I'm sorry for the wait to post this ask, it got completely lost in the drafts for a while and I wanted to ramble a bit under a cut ajsdakhd oh and let me know if you want to be 🍒anon at any point! ily and thanks again!! have a good night cherry 🥺
I only put this under a read more so I don't ramble too much but omg if you get into revstar let us know!!! it's still raging strong as a special interest and hyperfixation and we'd both love to talk abt it with you!! and please take your time there's never any rush to get into it! might i add that i love the usage of "if the stars align" here because if that ain't the most befitting for this source that you could've said... kjDSHASD <- revstar is very "star" themed, literally and figuratively! but hmm. if I had to kin assign you anybody especially from the anime I'd say probably Futaba and/or Karen!!! It's a little harder to say from Starira but I just KNOW you'd love Frontier and their found family tropes. Aruru? Misora? who knows but I also think you'd enjoy the Siegfeld Juniors a lot, especially Minku and Kuina for some reason. But yeah! the anime only focuses on the Seisho cast so that'd be your first introduction if you started with the anime and basically like the only introduction unless you looked into the mobile game or stage plays! which we can always help you with because we both have the resources. the cast is fairly small (if you don't count side characters and background characters which in of itself is few and far between) totaling about 40ish or so, roughly. so it's both easy and difficult to find "obscure" or underrated characters that don't get attention in the fandom because they're all loved by *someone* but there are characters that aren't as popular by default at the same time (like Frontier, Seiran, some Siegfeld, etc.) so that's why I went with Shiori Yumeoji for a kin, and Sun went with Tsukasa Ebisu for a kin as well! If we went with ccs, I would've chosen Misora or Stella, and I think it's funny because we got a few rqs for them recently since we've done this rq so it really worked out that way! Sun said she probably would have done Shiori as a cc if love didn't chose a kin too which worked out since I ended up doing that for myself. um anywaysss yeah! omg! I hope you enjoy it whenever you have the motivation and do not hesitate to talk to us about it or send in anything else for us to do in the meantime! this was very good for the soul

Neon: Kiriko-san, can I suggest a prompt for the next pin up calendar?
Kiriko: Everyone is free to give us suggestions for the prompt.
Neon: Can we do some cosplay?
Kiriko: What did you have in mind?
Neon: See, take for example everyone from the Sword of Logos.
Neon: They're all about books right?
Kiriko: Yes?
Neon: Like for example Kamiyama-san would be dressed like a version Seiten Taisei (JP Sun Wukong) and Fukamiya-san would be dressed like a version of Aladdin.
Hina: That's a great idea, Neon-chan
Miu: Besides, we already did Disney royalties and villains before.
Miu: We could do something else that's not Disney.
Neon: I just don't know if we can get a license to use those characters.
Hina: Leave that to Kougami-san and the others.
Sawa: I think this is something even the girls can appear on the pages.
Misora: We can make it so that we have three pin up calendars, one with women, and the other with men, and the.other mix.
Miu; I think we should stick with just one.
Kiriko: I agree, Gou was really stressed when we did the Disney prince and princess as joint releases.
Hina: Who do you have in mind to dressed as who, Neon-chan?
Neon: I think we can have either Kisaragi-sensei or Kamiyama-sensei as the Sun Wukong from that RWBY show from the west.
Neon: Sakuta-san as Zuko from that Avartar show.,
Miu: The Last air bender?? If I remember right, that did not make it here to Japan.
Hina: We did some Disney characters that never made it to Japan.
Kiriko: We shouldn't do Avatar, the reason it was banned here was because of the Fire Nation.
Hina: Fair point.
Hina: Although, if we're doing cosplay, why don't we have Ace-kun and Keiwa-kun and yourself dressed as Naruto characters.
Neon: who would I be?
Neon: No, I don't want to be that girl with a cat monster.
Miu; We can hash out the details later, so have you heard from Kirishima-san?
[Kamen Rider Femme - Miho Kirishima]
Lol, Touma would definitely be into the cosplaying. Heck, he wouldn't even be opposed to being put in drag, considering he imagined himself as the Orihime to Kento's Hikoboshi in the Saber/Zenkaiger crossover. Kento would happily going along with the cosplay too... maybe not the drag, though XD
Also, maybe they can offer some ideas for what characters can cosplay? Surely the book-loving author would have some ideas. Apparently cosplay is a common occurrence at the bookstore... (Kento would, however, vehemently veto anything involving a story with a certain spiky rodent. Even if he's not the one cosplaying the spiky rodent in question.)
Poor Gou, he has his work cut out for him... he's not even that kind of photographer- his work in mainly nature photography, and that's what he won awards for per the epilogue of Drive. But he'd rather be behind the camera instead of in front of it, lol

I still call the Fuddrucker's restaurant "Buttfucker's" on occasion.
Anyways...
"comedians are mentally sick"
"A story is told that in 1806 a man goes to visit a doctor who is acclaimed for his ability to treat melancholia. “I can’t eat, I can’t sleep,” says the man. “I feel constantly miserable. Please help me, doctor.” “Laughter is the best medicine, my friend,” says the doctor. “Take yourself off to Covent Garden Theatre, where you will find The Great Grimaldi performing in Harlequin and Mother Goose; or the Golden Egg. It is exquisitely funny and will cure you of all your ills without any pills or potions from my cabinet.” The man looks at the doctor for a moment. “Ah,” he says. “That won’t help.” “Why not, sir?” The man shrugs. “I am Grimaldi.”
While reading this wiki article on the study of these psychological phenomenae, I feel some kind of urge to make up a new version of this meme:
Tumblr media
While especially focusing in the specifics of ink-blot imageries.
Every performer has a slightly different ethos.
Talking to myself... now.
A study conducted by Fisher found humour-orientated individuals likely to identify their mothers as demanding, unsympathetic and distant. They were seen as avoiding the nurturant role, commonly falling on the father to fulfil this role for the family. An inkblot test for parents of comedians revealed their tendency toward a childlike view of the world, describing protocols with juvenile imagery. Fisher concluded that these views were linked with a parent's reluctance towards responsibilities, associated with a general tone that "happiness prevails.” Parents of comics were found to avoid solemn ideas, identifying negative images in Rorschach tests and then denying their negative elements, such as, "This is a wolf. I thought it was ferocious. But I heard that it is not." This childlike view of the world and rejection of family obligations can cause comedians to embody a greater sense of responsibility and a feeling of obligation to protect others, a compensation for their parents' unconscious rejection of adult responsibilities. This burden of responsibilities has been shown to evoke issues regarding self-worth that foster the development of the sad clown paradox.
I've always held a real distate for the sense of style described here as "not-bad":
The use of inkblot imaging reveals certain characteristics and worries of comedic performers that are not matched in regular actors. Fisher identified four key trends that were common for comedians' Rorschach Tests; The identification of 'not-bad' imagery. This involves a traditional, negative idea that has been misunderstood and is a victim to preconceived views. Would include responses such as "Two devils. Funny devils. Not to be taken seriously." or "Pig-like .... Ugly but yet somewhat endearing." Comedian's association with ideas of purity vs evil leads to identification of things bearing moral importance. Fisher concluded this significance was due to comedians need to mock societal standards and hence blur the line between good and bad.
maybe I have a kill-switch. I might enact the same switcheroo, but it is imperceptible to myself. After all, we become accustomed to strong scents we spend prolonged time around. Our mind is always looking for new information -- it learns to filter out constants.
I like Ryuzaki, but his story seems like a funny re-flip of this trope. Someone could be led to believe that he is a strange, quirky, but ultimately harmless person... until the pieces are put together, and you can see the full image. Obfuscation. Ugly. I hate it. ...Yet, I also think it's so funny how hair-raising that Naomi Misora finds Ryuzaki to be. I think disgust is hilarious. I don't justify this.
I feel distaste when I see people view the other Ryuzaki as harmless, either. He's a man, like anyone else. I don't care. People are chimpanzees.
I watched a Siamang baby playing with his father and mother, yesterday. He kept sneaking up on them, slapping them, and running away. The daddy chased him around, swinging up and down ropes, climbing up the jungle gym. I felt happy.
Sometimes I wonder what it would mean if people choose to live in their own little world where they populate their minds with abstract moral concepts, instead of real life.
Sometimes I feel like popular "human society" is just comprised of the warring of many different, destructive, controlling cults. That seems like a very cynical and reductive way to look at the situation, though... but it's strange to be lifelong unreligious in a society populated by people who live their lives by what some book tells them. Just the manner that this discussion takes place, fucking unsettling. I've done a little personal research into religious scripture, and I felt like I did find value for myself... "the words of someone who has endured similar trials".
but some people turn it into fucking insanity. Why even bitch about this online? There's so many different people of differing experience.
As I get older, and I see people younger than me growing up... I feel like I'm realizing how life, skillsets, mental toolboxes, ideas can be so arbitrary and based on the culture that you're growing up in. There's so much... so, so much. No time to waste on assumptions, when life is to learn.
Sometimes, whenever I describe a psychological-complex in written words... I get this urge to 'see it in myself', to be unshy of being ugly, to accuse myself, to...
...Even in some instances where I know that I am not behaving that way, and when I'm aware that other people would probably not describe me on those terms,
(other than often in the case of a person trying to project their own inner insecurity onto an outer part of the world.) Usually... I don't want to discount the value of individual observation. I've met some keenly aware people, but I also just feel like I have had a tendency to seek out deeply incisive, critical lenses through which I can view myself. Which doesn't make all of those criticisms not-true.
I like the emotional high of "being found out". If I let myself get addicted, I could end up seeking cheaper and cheaper thrills.
I just feel like this is an urge to "keep the conversation going", to 'prove' that this intellectualism is not a waste of time, "to create a problem to solve", but the solving of the problem is in tracing it back to its origins, and only through obfuscation does it lead anywhere but I. Obfuscation is a traceable action.
the sad-intellectual complex. instead of a normal childhood, I had to write stupid essays to prove stupid meaningless shit to some shithead. and they gave out rewards to someone who could talk for a long time, using a lot of big words. "oh you're so mature for your age", new response: "fuck off. you're immature for your age." Attempting to establish rapport through mindless intellectual exercises. and they give you a piece of candy, tangible reward, monkey brain: "oooh"
instead of playing outside and learning about the world through experiencing it, we read about it in a book. oooh books are intellectual?
proxies.
how to make someone shy of being mentally naked? (natural?)
always in a costume, always dressed up, pretending.
It has also been suggested that humour may serve as an attempt to relate to people from a distance, evoked by a childhood desire for social contact. Typically humour is described as an emotional and cognitive state and its absence has been found to cause depression and anxiety.
Monkeys locked in a room. Baby monkeys. Someone other than I.
Hypothesis:
No one took me seriously as myself, so would you take me seriously if I were someone else?
Experiment results: It makes no difference who you are. Other people are all living as themselves, and they react to the outside world through their own little lenses.
It's a restlessness. You feel powerless to change the external circumstances, which would normally be the natural course of actions.... but since you have been blocked from escape, you had chosen to try to change yourself, internally, instead. This didn't help you. In some ways, you made yourself even more vulnerable. You don't want to see this, because you are reacting to pain like any animal may. You hide from it. Cats hide their illnesses. Birds hide their illnesses until they either recover, or become so sick that they lapse control. Is that the natural gamble? Is there even a better way, which is not just snake oil and arsenic?
Do you just have to live life instead of "seeking the new truth"?
Saw this video earlier, where someone is discussing Cartesian dualism. "I think, therefore I am", versus the basic state of sense. Interesting stuff.
She mentions the Prefrontal cortex, I think of the helpful evolutionary traits which may become hindering if left to grow unchecked.
One example: a babirusa's tusks. Some people may speculate that the female pigs prefer the boars with larger tusks... but it is said this has not been proven. I've read a few blogs which rephrase this phenomena into some sort of over-emotional symbolic arc.
Someone else says that the male babirusa can grind down his tusks through "regular activity", and so perhaps an unkempt babirusa is sick in another way.
I get depressed going to the zoo or the aquarium, now... It's like whiplash between joy and despair. I love seeing life. I loved watching the sea lions swim back and forth in front of me, viewing through an underwater glass pane.
I saw giant silver catfish. I almost fell asleep sitting next to the giant window into their aquarium.

aw thank you again too 🥺 and you're welcome as well, i'm also really happy to know you appreciate my ramblings ❤️❤️❤️ and even though i only just got into it this year and ofc it has its downs and flaws as well, there's a lot to love about kr and toku as a whole, and i can see why characters from the other japanese media i like (i totally get you now, edgeworth) are portrayed as fans of the medium/genre 😅 speaking of that, i forgot to mention what maya's thoughts on build might be - like with edgeworth, idk if build would be her fave kr show, but i still think she'd enjoy it, and while she definitely has some similarities to misora, idk if that would be enough for maya to deem misora her fave character, and for some reason, instead i think either banjou or [redacted] (i'll tell you more about this person once you get further into the show) would be her fave. and i think she'd find sawa really cool in terms of her mysterious multiple skills and would want to emulate said skills, and she might find it cute that sento basically has a rabbit fursona fjgnkwjds
*maya voice* come on mr. edgeworth, you don't have to tell me he's gay when i can literally see he's a rabbit personified and obviously rabbits are gay animals. like duh [1/?]
(rest below)
(though that makes me think that edgeworth might criticize the fact that they cast a skinny prettyboy to play a former pro boxer and then he'd type up a whole essay ranting about how the actor should have been someone with actual beef like will powers instead and discoursing about toei's prejudice against bears in-depth lol) and oh wow i'm also really happy to hear that you actually started watching it!!! :D and you're already on ep. 8... get ready for the stakes to keep rising bc boy does this show do its best to keep its foot on the viewers' collective neck 😭 eps. 13-16 are some of my favorites so far, and ofc no one is ever prepared enough for the shit that infamously goes down in ep. 21 😔 there are ofc moments to take a breather here and there, but there are basically no filler episodes so yeah it can be A Lot jlmdjfjkhs. i'd love to know if you have any theories or speculations for some of the mysteries and questions the show has set up so far, because while i obviously can't discuss them in-depth atm, it's still fun to see other people's takes especially when they're going into build pretty much un-spoiled 👀 [2/?]
and oh really djwdjfnks i guess it's true that i didn't actually talk about the comedic aspects of the show in my previous messages, and the post i linked also didn't give off that impression since it mostly brought up the serious elements, so sorry for accidentally misleading you 😭 but i'm glad to know it's worked out for you so far! :-) i actually really like build's humor for the most part (other than a few things like the previously mentioned uncomfortable aspects of a male character having an intense parasocial crush on misora's mii-tan persona, where ngl it was a bit funny to me at first when it didn't come off as that bad yet but then it just kept going in a very 'why are we still pushing this' way - though tbf to that guy, even though i compared him to larry, i do think he has a lot more going for him in terms of an actual arc and his interactions with other characters can be compelling and fun, he just needs to stay 10 feet away from misora for 10 years and learn to be normal), and the comedy is definitely needed in these first several episodes since well, the show does get kinda dark later on, particularly when it gets to the war parts (though to my knowledge, it's never too edgy beyond the boundaries of what's allowed for ostensibly a kids' show) - like it still does retain humorous moments, but it's generally fairly more sobering compared to the early parts of the show 😔 [3/?]
if i remember them correctly, some of my fave funny moments from the episodes you've already watched include when sento was trying to drive off on his phone bike while he was still in the cafe, banjou attempting to explain his backstory when sento asked but he started from his birth and an exasperated sento threw the visual of baby banjou away, the satou taro stuff (which iirc actually became a popular enough meme in japan at the time build was airing due to the way inukai delivered the "let's eat yakiniku tonight!" part, to the point that non-toku ads apparently referenced it lol), sawa excitedly following around an annoyed sento as build for her news stories, the whole chaining back-and-forth between banjou and misora, sento getting excited at hearing about the bottles misora purified but then becoming sad that banjou figured out a best match before him, sento immediately trying to test out that sword invention thing of his on misora and a 'sleeping' banjou but the latter was actually awake and threatened him instead, isurugi making increasingly dejected facial expressions when the others rejected his shitty coffee one by one in favor of their canned coffees, and the recurring gag of banjou having to put on a silly disguise whenever he goes out in public (shoutout to the literally contextless random clown costume) bc of how he's still a fugitive at large lmao (also not specifically meant to be funny but i cracked up at banjou's first appearance being shirtless in the sewers - i know it's supposed to be a fanservice-y moment but instead it proved to me just how nonexistent those 'sweet pecs' he loves to brag about are 😭) [4/?]
in general i like the whole gag of sento having a bunny ear ahoge that sticks up whenever he gets excited about science, even as a lot of fans jokingly call it a hair boner instead because well. i guess it's not exactly wrong hdjfjnkwjs sento being horny for science is probably the least surprising thing about him though... and a lot of the episode recaps are funny too, like when they explain how isurugi came to give sento his name (idk if you've reached this episode yet though) and when sento loves overemphasizing the way he says the 'genius'/'tensai' part of 'genius physicist' lmao on a side note, i do like how anime-ish many of the fashion choices and character quirks are, like sento's ahoge ofc and also his mismatched sneakers, and banjou's shrimp braids (i've seen a few other people think they look uncool, and while i understand that they can be pretty jarring when you're not used to that kind of hairstyle, i personally have come around to them by now and find them one of his charm points tbh), and in general the way banjou dresses like a delinquent-type lesbian jock in high school fjskjwkajs [5/?]
also i only realized later on when i saw other people pointing it out that it's weird that misora doesn't seem to have an actual schtick or something as an online idol, like singing and/or dancing or even playing video games (and later episodes do nothing to correct this assumption), and when they're not giving her info on what's happening in the country/touto re: things like smash attacks, instead she just. asks her viewers to essentially doxx people 😭😭😭 like even if that was for a good cause in the end and it worked out okay, it's still pretty weird to say the least in hindsight 😭 also let me just say that banjou being a bit of an ass to sento in these early episodes to the point of knocking him out twice to get away with his own plans, plus that part where he duked it out with sento in the nascita basement after the tatsuya incident made me go :O at first like wow okay yeah, i get where he's coming from wrt wanting to prove his innocence asap but also he definitely needed to chill somewhat (and that convo between sawa and misora where the latter was genuinely worried that the tentative friendship between the guys was over for real but sawa said she was sure they would get over it or something along those lines... queen of being supportive hfjsmkws). i'm glad he at least apologized for what he did to tatsuya in the end (also sento making that dragon bot companion for him was really sweet, even if banjou found it annoying at first lol), and the rest of his character development will definitely be cool to watch :') [6/?]
and yeah the range of their acting is amazing hwjsfkrds especially since both of their characters in cm and odt have that anxious and easily startled prey animal vibe 😭 though banjou's otherwise shouty aggressive persona is at least offset by goofy stuff like that running gag of him getting jumpscared by the microwave, and ofc the fact that he has very few functioning braincells (i hesitate to use the word here since it's become oversaturated in the past few years, but i guess you could deem him a himbo) lmao also in general, i think toku actors deserve a raise purely for being able to constantly maintain their composure while doing actions that would be otherwise goofy (e.g. i can only imagine how it looks to be cranking that lever on build's driver belts without any of the special effects added in yet) 😭 iirc inukai actually talked about that at some point, about how hard it is to insert the two bottles when he's not supposed to be looking, so even if he gets the first one right on the first try, he might still mess up the second one, so he often has to do multiple takes and said that bc of that issue, he was planning on buying one of the belt's toy versions so he could practice with it at home (idk if he went through with it in the end though) [7/?]
i'm also happy to hear about how endearing you've found the characters already - that's definitely one of build's strengths imo even if some of them end up not being developed to their full potential 👍🏼 and ahhh i'm so glad you're seeing the narumitsu vision this early!! i knew i could count on you 🙏🏼 if you're liking them thus far, trust that it's gonna get even better - you're gonna see just how much this was practically preliminary training for their later respective bl dramas ^_^ and sento and banjou may not be of the 'estranged childhood friends where one of them was adopted by his dad's murderer and then molded to follow in said murderer's footsteps and the other changed their whole career path just to see the first person again and save them' variety but they end up having quite a few Insane moments of their own later on that i feel are narumitsu-coded too so it makes me go T_T and about banjou's instinctive knack for figuring out best matches - yeah iirc it does appear a few more times after that, though sadly it doesn't figure as much anymore at the point in the show i am now. who knows though, it might still make a comeback in later episodes 🙏🏼 and yep that dialogue between isurugi and banjou... that sure was Something. ofc sento's issues will come into play more prominently as the show goes on, and i'm looking forward to seeing your reactions to how they pan out 👁️👁️ [8/?]
hdkfjskjs i'm glad you like both misora and sawa too!! misora is truly a #relatable sleep-loving icon for threatening to cut people who disturb said sleep <3 and you don't need to worry on the fronts of misora's powers and both women's backstories - they'll definitely get delved into at some point (in fact, since you mentioned being on ep. 8 already, parts of misora's get brought up in ep. 9 iirc)! my main issues are just that certain aspects, or the effects of those aspects on both women, of their backstories and the relationships they have with certain other characters in connection with that, and even their personal friendship with each other (even as i like the content we do get), could have been expanded on - ngl as i'm writing this, i'm getting flashbacks to capcom's treatment of aa female characters like maya and trucy, so once again the aa comparison seems apt here - but oh well, you'll see when you get there. ultimately it feels like a case of 'it could have been worse' considering how too often female characters can get the super short end of the stick in stuff like these, but still. that doesn't stop one from wishing it really could have been better 😔 [9/?]
and oh yeah, i hadn't brought up them up yet because i wanted you to experience them for yourself, but both gentoku/night rogue (that reminds me of the funny scene in ep. 2 where sento was like "the batman..." and he was like "it's night rogue, actually" and sento just snapped back with "i don't care what you call yourself!" or something to that effect 😭) and blood stalk are interesting and compelling antagonists and their cringe evil toxic yaoi dynamic is very fun to watch ngl <3 and about stalk and his drama-loving ass in particular - you're definitely in for a treat re: learning more about his whole deal, i promise 😌 me 🤝🏼 you 🤝🏼 other fans on akaso eiji: what is this man cooking sometimes djfjkahgs. and gah i know, he definitely comes off as smart enough (certainly smarter than the character he plays in this show) to be aware of the implications of saying stuff Like That so like. come on dudeee. and the comment i mentioned him making at that post-series promotional event is probably the cherry on top as the most out-of-pocket thing i've heard him say wrt this show to date (looking forward to both of us finishing this show so we can talk about it for real) like... seriously thank you so much for speaking your truth but also it's a wonder the toei snipers didn't get you in that moment 😭😭😭 also i imagine this is what the build actors felt like reading the script they got with every new episode: 🏳️‍🌈❓ and that was just amplified as the show went on 💀 [10/?]
and i actually was able to find again the video for the first promotional event - youtu . be/OW1y8FNibDU?si=bezKLuvqfYvSSDJq, and akaso starts talking at the 1:02 mark, so you can finally see it for yourself (it's also at this event where inukai jokingly introduced himself as satou taro instead of sento, complete with the 'yakiniku' pose that got turned into a meme, and akaso had to 'remind' him of his actual character lol). and re: this event, this was done for the crossover movie 'kamen rider heisei generations final: build & ex-aid with legend riders' or heigen final as it's commonly abbreviated, which i mentioned in my previous messages in passing, so here you can see iijima (where he looks far more baby-faced compared to his appearance in odt, even though iirc he's only 2 years younger than inukai and also akaso) and the rest of the main ex-aid cast too like i've said before, it's not strictly necessary to watch because it's not really meant to be fully canon, plus other kr protagonists - namely ooo/eiji, fourze/gentarou, gaim/kouta, and ghost/takeru - you wouldn't be familiar with also appear in supporting roles (though tbf to those other riders, since this is generally meant to be a standalone, it doesn't delve that much into the stories of their respective shows, so some cursory reading of their synopses and who these protagonists are should be good enough, but yeah i guess it does contain some spoilers for how said shows end, especially ex-aid since that's the other main rider here). the pros to watching this though is that it apparently shows some nice banjou development, which is still included within the main series but other elements are just elaborated on here, and contains additional foreshadowing for some later twists and reveals in the main series (build's head writer shogo muto was definitely on a roll while co-writing this) - and by that, i mean that the continuity is such that heigen final is technically set in between eps. 14 and 15 of the show, so there are stuff in episodes afterwards that get further set up here [11/?]
so if you don't mind some spoilers for the other seasons, especially if you're not planning on watching those anytime soon, and the fact that this isn't strictly canon, you can watch it on the toku . fun site (since the page i linked you to contains all the spin-off stuff for this show already) once you're done with ep. 14 :-) on my end, i actually started watching it a while back, but i didn't finish yet and i proceeded with my main series watching instead and now i'm 20+ episodes in, so if you're too impatient like me, it's still okay to skip it for now and just go back to it another time 👍🏼 and there's also an interview with iijima and inukai as promotion for the movie that you might be interested in, though you should also definitely only read it after finishing ep. 14 since it contains spoilers for that and a couple of episodes before it, and ofc spoilers ahead for ex-aid too: docs . google . com/document/u/0/d/1gV0D6WhKQiV8Hi3OhOk1XNUD3hB2uF4f9j1tWTYXE3g/mobilebasic?pli=1 [12/?]
also since you got past ep. 2 already, i was reminded of how build does pull the 'dead girlfriend for manpain' thing which is. not a great trope as a whole, and kasumi could have stood to be a bit more developed before her death and even in the later instances when she's brought up by banjou and co., but from everything i've heard, this + how kasumi is shown haunting the narrative is still generally handled with more grace compared to how ex-aid did a similar storyline, so this is definitely a tolerable enough case. and yeah while i don't think it was that many so far, kr definitely has had a bit of a track record of featuring dead girlfriends for men's sad backstories (though tbf, there have also been plenty of backstories here involving dead male friends so there is some equality at least ig??), the quality with which they were written varying, but welp are we really surprised considering how men-dominated this franchise is ofc lol [13/?]
and i do think the mysteries pay off well for the most part, so i'm glad it reeled you in too and ofc i'm interested in hearing your future thoughts and reactions :-) and don't worry about your posts/answers getting long, bc i can assure you that whatever i send to you will almost always be longer fjkhfsws. and feel free to independently liveblog it in separate posts too if you like - you can just tag them and/or put them under a 'read more' so i can more easily find them and your other followers can also filter the tags if they don't want to see those posts, though hey, maybe it will inspire them to get into build as well and there'll be a resurgence in build fans 5 years after it ended?? lol and yeah i think that might actually have been an aa reference fr! (even if he didn't exactly point like phoenix and co. haha) i'm pretty sure it's like the most well-known mainstream franchise involving lawyers dramatically yelling 'objection!'/'igi ari!' in japan atp so i wouldn't be surprised. just another thing to add to the list of aa-build parallels ig! [14/?]
akshfjfkas that's definitely one of the few things adachi and banjou would have in common at least 😭 also i'd definitely like to see any build fanart you might make!! no pressure though, draw them only if you actually want to and at your own pace :-) though that reminded me, have you ever considered redrawing narumitsu (or any other big m/m aa pairing actually, like klapollo, asoryuu, or even langworth) as the 'heated drama between men' picture (since that tagline definitely applies to those duos)? i always thought that was prime redraw material for other media, so it saddened me to see very few actual redraws or edits of it so far 😔 (though maybe there were actually more back then, but since this show aired 5-6 years ago, those are long-buried now or something). no pressure again ofc, it's just an idea so feel free to draw or not draw it hsfjwkflds [15/?]
unfortunately, because this has gotten very long again, once more i'll have to relegate my thoughts on the f/f and canon lgbt+ stuff to other messages some other time... just know the gist that toei has for sure been taking baby steps in terms of the rep, and afaik most of it has ranged from decent to good or at least i don't think any of them have come off as blatantly offensive caricatures, but some other moves they've pulled here and there have also been frustrating, and while it's true we shouldn't actively be seeking authentic diverse rep from these corporations in the first place, it still would be nice to someday get a respectfully written canon gay and/or trans kr protagonist of any gender (though given it's kr, it will likely be a guy anyway) without a single no-homo or "it's up to interpretation" type of official statement you know? 😔 aaand that's all again for now, thanks again, and goodbye and talk to you next time :-) hope you enjoy watching the rest of the show! <3 [16/16]
also sorry to add on to this hours later but i just suddenly got struck with new ideas for other m/m duos in aa to possibly redraw the 'heated drama between men' picture as: the actual toku characters like steel samurai/evil magistrate, or even nickel samurai/jammin' ninja just bc of the engarde vs. corrida drama (even though the characters are actually from different shows and i don't genuinely think of engarde and corrida's relationship as romantic wjdekjfsjh)
anon hi again and thank u again for the asks !!!! sorry for the wait i didnt get to watch much these last few days (only caught up to ep12 now) so i was waiting until id watched enough that i could update u on the live reacting a little bit kajfkdsjgd but its been rlly fun !! the plot twists keep getting me but theres the silliness to balance it out but then the emotions and the stakes oh god oh fuck-
gonna start w misora and sawa again immediately bc 1) i care them So much and 2) WHAT THE FUFCKKFDJFK I DIDNT EXPECT THE SAWA STUFF???????? when they showed her being in kahoots w the weapons guy i was literally >:0 at my screen i was so betrayed i thought that was for It for her...... but then her backstory and how she came clean abt everything and still wants to help the gang out ooughghhg i wamt to give her a hug so bad...... and her friendship w misora too im gonna Cry!!!!!! also speaking of the misora lore is also intriguing (7 yr coma....... i keep saying this smth abt jp medias and their 7 years) and her getting to go out after so long and have fun was so sweet 🥺 the idol thing is still wild tho but u know what. valid bc the concept of a doxxing idol is so funny kdfjkgjkdfjg
also sento and banjou oh my god . I DIDNT KNOW OTHER GUYS COULD BECOME KAMEN RIDERS TOO???? tho when stalk mentioned the hazard levels earlier i had a Feeling but it failed last time banjou tried so i thought that was it but omg what the hell .... the design for him is so cool too im glad he had that chara growth moment !! tho the kasumi stuff is def #manpain flavored so far (did those two only ever meet at that one sakura tree goddam let them have other flashback scenes??) im glad at least they didnt just drop her after ep2 and actually have her death impacting banjou (and sento too w him taking the blame for it himself) and that driving him to work on himself and become more selfless its so [chefs kiss] i do hope she gets mentioned again tho bc that "i hope you can forget me" in the letter was Not helping
also yeag . they are NOT beating the nrmt allegations for me!!! its about the trust and belief babey!!!!!!!! what the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND WHAT IS THIS . WHY. (for some reason it reminded me of krdc in that one scene in ep5 fkdjksjg)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but seriously the progression of their relationship is so neat to see (esp at the moments they give each other a push to do the right thing those always get me ough) they are becoming Friends!!!!! now im super curious tho what akasos other out of pocket comment mightve been bc canon is already pushing the ship so much how could he have possibly added onto it 😭
as for theories hmmmm i dont rlly have any solid ones rn?? the sawa plot twist already threw me off for a bit and the whole govt/faust stuff is going p standard villain plot-ly so no speculations there...... tho stalk is still confusing me bc hes clearly helping out and he even says it but im gonna assume he has his own goals (tho actually since u mentioned redrawing the heated drama pic i went looking for it again + looking for chara refs in general earlier and uh . i mightve seen a spoiler abt stalk ?? [nervous laughter] ha ha what the fuck 😳 gonna try to forget that in case its real)
also ty for that info on the movie it sounds interesting i didnt know they did crossovers like that :0 still have to reach ep14 so ill think abt if i wanna watch it then or afterwards but looking forward to the banjou content i will take All of it (and seeing iijima again too maybe itll even get me interested in his season jkjdkjg he does look v babie in that vid i almost didnt recognize him help)
the aa/kr crossover potential rlly is there tho im seeing ur ideas abt the aa charas watching the show since theyre already toku fans 👀 i thought abt seeing if theres crossover fics on ao3 or smth but nope im going to learn from my mistake im going to Wait i dont want to get more spoiled kfjdkfjg me making fanart is also gonna have to wait but soon. maybe . if i can keep a good pace to watch and not take one billion years-

200 Words challenge:Day 3.
Geo Stelar stared at the other him on the other side of the room. He definitely looked like him, but his eyes were red like Mega's instead of brown like his. His veins were also glowing green and pulsing just like how Mega's body was. He also had green claws at the ends of his fingers. They glowed and were pulsing just like his veins. He was wearing a set of blue robes, like the kind you'd find at a hospital. The strangest part was the wristband around his left forearm with a number on it reading '001'.
"Who are you... and why do you look like me?"
The other 'Geo' spoke up. He had a nervous look on his face as he stared at his other self that suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
"My name is Geo Stelar... What about you?"
"..."
After a bit of hesitation, the other 'Geo' spoke again.
"Subject 001... at least, that's what the scientists call me. My real name is... Subaru Hoshikawa..."
Geo stared at Subaru in shock. He had to process what he just heard.
"Subject... Are you a test subject of some kind?"
Subaru reluctantly responded.
"Yeah, I'm the first of the EM Wave Change experiments... I think that's what the scientists called it."
"Huh? Who are these scientists?"
Subaru gave Geo a worried look. He wasn't sure if he should let him know everything or not. This guy could be dangerous, even if he is another him.
"The only scientist I've met is a lady named Dr. Orihime and her assistant EM Being, Empty."
Geo thought for a moment before responding.
"Does this, 'Dr. Orihime' person happened to study the Mu Contitent?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"And is her assistant based off of her deceased lover?"
"I do think I've overheard her talking to her boss about it one time."
"This, Dr. Orihime and Empty sound a lot like Dr. Vega and Hollow from my world..."
Geo pauses again before asking another question.
"Who's her boss? I don't recall my Dr. Vega ever working for anyone."
"I only know him as Mr. King."
"Mr. King?! He's the one that experimented on you?"
"Shh!"
Subaru clasped his hand over Geo's mouth and made a quiet motion by placing his finger over his mouth.
"If... if they find out you're here... Who knows what they'll do to you?"
"Right, sorry..."
Subaru glanced around to make sure that no one heard them.
"Mr. King is more the director of the experiments, you know. He doesn't actually conduct them. That's Dr. Orihime and Empty's job."
Geo nodded before thinking back on the name of the experiment.
"You mentioned something about an experiment and you being the first subject? The EM Wave Change, I think. What is that, and are there more subjects like you?"
Subaru paused again. He was still a little suspicious about Geo. He hadn't done anything yet, but still, he didn't want to get dragged into any trouble with this 'Geo' character.
"I don't know much, but the basic premise is that a human and EM Being are partnered up, and then they go through a medical procedure in order to make the fusion, permanent, in a sense..."
"As for the others... There's quite a few of us. There's at least seven of us now. Apparently there will be more..."
"There's me and Warrock. We're subject 001. Misora Hibiki and Harp are 002. Luna Shirogane and Ophiuchus are 003. Gonta Ushijima and Ox are 004. Kizamaro Saishoin and Pedia and 005. Solo and Laplace are 006. Shidō Akatsuki and Acid make up 007. I'm pretty sure that's everyone."
"All of those people sound familiar..."
Subaru tilted his head to the side.
"Hey, do you have a Wizard partner too?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, his name is Omega-Xis, but I usually call him Mega."
"Hey kid, where are we?"
Geo pulled on his Visualizer to see Omega-Xis staring at the two of them. He was yawning and looking slightly confused.
"Hey Mega, you choose an odd time to wake up."
"Wow! He looks just like Warrock!"
Mega blinked a few times.
"Kid, why are there two of you?"
"Uh... this is Subaru, and apparently, we somehow ended up in his world."
"Hello!"
Subaru waved at Mega, lifting his hand in the air, revealing a stitch just underneath the wristband.
"Hi... What on earth happened to this guy?"
"Uh... it's kind of a long story. I'm basically an experiment along with quite a few people, and we're inside a lab... Well, this is a containment cell, but it's still in a lab."
"I'm gonna need a lot of context..."
"I'll tell you when we get back to Echo Ridge... Actually, how are we going to get back?"
"Well, how did we get here, kid?"
Geo thought for a moment, trying to recall how they ended up here.
"I think I remember now. We were exploring Netopia with the others, and you and I ran into an older part of the net. A strange vortex appeared and sucked us inside. You were asleep in my Hunter-VG, and I didn't have time to wake you up. I landed in his cell. We spent a good minute or two staring at each other before talking and now we're here."
Subaru tilted his head again and stared in awe at the Hunter-VG. He had never seen anything like it. The only device he's ever had was a Transer, and that was before he became an experiment.
"Ooh... it looks so different from my Transer. I still don't know what happened to it either. That pink haired lady. Heartless? I think that's her name. She took it before I went through the experiment process, and I haven't seen it since..."
Subaru leaned in closer to get a better look at the device. However, his eyes glanced up to the golden star-shaped pendant hanging around Geo's neck. Something about it was familiar. He got even closer to Geo and squinted at the pendant.
"Huh? What are you doing?"
Geo leaned back a bit as Subaru leaned closer to him.
"Oh, sorry... it's just that... that pendant around your neck... it looks familiar. I feel like I've seen it before."
"You have?"
"Yeah... I swear I've seen it somewhere. I think I saw my dad wearing it once... I miss my dad and my mom..."
Subaru started to tear up slightly at the thought of his parents. Geo began patting him on the shoulder and hugging him.
"Hey, it's okay, please don't cry. Who are your parents?"
"Akane and Daigo Hoshikawa..."
Subaru wiped the tears out of his eyes.
"You're right, I shouldn't cry. Misora says that I should be happy since they wouldn't want to see me cry..."
"Yeah, I'm sure you'll see them again..."
"I sure hope so."
Before Geo could say anything else, a blue vortex appeared behind him, and his Hunter-VG went off.
"Geo!"
Geo looked to see Dr. Goodall and Arthur on the other side of the vortex.
"Looks like I've gotta go..."
"Oh..."
Geo goes to step in but turns around and holds out a hand towards him.
"Hey, why don't you come with me?"
"With you?"
Subaru was surprised by the offer. He had been trapped here for who knows how long, and yet, here he had a chance to escape. But what would happen if he left? Would his friends be okay? Will he be able to come back and save them? Will something drastic happen to them if he leaves? As much as he wanted to leave this horrible place, he couldn't leave his friends behind.
"Thank you for the offer, but I've got friends here, and I can't just leave them behind. I don't know how, but I'm going to make sure that everyone is okay."
Geo nodded in understanding. He pulled out a silver emblem that looked just like the star pendant on Geo's neck.
"Here."
Geo hands the charm to Subaru.
"What is it?"
"It's a good luck charm."
With that, they waved goodbye, and Geo walked through the vortex with Mega following behind him.
Once Geo was back home, he was tackled by his friends, who were clearly worried about him.
"Where were you?!"
"Are you okay?"
"Where'd you go?"
Geo smiled nervously. He was happy to be home, but he also wasn't sure how to explain where he was and what happened.
"Okay, I'll tell you guys. It's a little weird, though."
Back in the containment cell. Subaru looked at the silver star and held it in his hands. A good luck charm. He smiled, having a small bit of hope in him. Knowing that there was another him who was having a good life gave him just the strength to achieve his dreams. And he won't have to do it alone.

Hi !!! B, Naomi and L for the ask game :D
Hey girl, how’s it going? Here we go!
Post: For Anyone Else Who Wants To Hear Me Sound Off
Tumblr media
Beyond Birthday
Tumblr media
How I feel about this character: Oh, baby. Get some help.
People I ship romantically: Naomi, but only as a crackship!
Non-romantic OTP: L and B! I KNOW THEY WERE FRIENDS, PLEASE TELL ME MORE
My unpopular opinion about this character: I actually think he’s bi, not gay. Another obscure opinion I have is that he’s basically a more chill version of Tomura Shigaraki from My Hero Academia.
One thing I wish was canon: I wish he’d gotten to have a direct confrontation with L. But I understand why that couldn’t happen, too.
(P. S. Here’s Tomura, in case you thought I was exaggerating the similarities.)

Naomi Misora
Tumblr media
How I feel about this character: the only good example of female representation in Death Note. She was killed off at the proper time, but my gosh, how I wish Misa had her mind. It would have been so interesting!
My OTP: I ship her with Raye since that’s where she ended up, but I also think she and L would have been a cute couple!
My platonic OTP: Naomi x L, Naomi x any of the Wammy boys, Naomi x Halle Lidner!
My unpopular opinion: I don’t think Raye treated her poorly when he said she would have a more fulfilling life as a mother. Naomi was struggling with her guilt over not being able to shoot a 13yo for a case in the LABB Murder Cases, so it’s not a stretch to say that she’s still unhealthily attached to that line of work and needs to focus on her life ahead. Though I understand why it came off as dismissive from Raye, her fiancé.
One thing I wish was canon: LET HER BE FRIENDS WITH L IN PERSON, DANG IT!
L. Lawliet
Tumblr media
My thoughts on this character: Baby boy baby, my husband
Romantic OTP: L X MISA 😤 I’m fond of L x Naomi as well though.
Platonic OTP: L x literally anyone who isn’t Light, please good gosh he needs better friends
My unpopular opinion: L is not a bad person; he is a person who did what he had to do. L is not a sociopath; he is a lonely autistic man who has trouble expressing himself. L is not gay; he expresses attraction to Misa and no one else. Lawlight needs to burn in hell.
Something I wish was canon: A single tear trickling down L’s face as he died in Light’s arms. It would have made a sad scene even sadder.

So I’m dyslexic and yesterday I finally completed my Light Yagami cosplay. Now I present to you a death note au where everything is the same except Light is dyslexic (all the things included in this is stuff I personally struggle with as someone with dyslexia. This is meant for a joke so don’t take this too seriously. Joking about my dyslexia is how I cope with it)
(Spoilers for death note)
Teacher: can you translate the following sentence into English?
Light, who was never able to learn another language cuz words are hard: uhhh….no….
Light finding the death note: what’s this? Has some writing on the front… “D……I can’t read English. What’s with everyone wanting me to read English today?! I can barely read Japanese! Eh whatever, maybe I’ll take it home and google translate it.”
Later….
Light: death note? As in a notebook of death?
*Turns the page to see the rules section also written in English*
Light: for fuck sake-
Ryuk: you seem to like it-
Light: shut up I’m trying to read
Ryuk: You’re telling a god of death to shut up? Wait, are you still reading the rules?
Light: it took me forever to type it all into google translate
Ryuk: it’s been several days…
Light: I’m a slow reader, ok?!?!?!
Light:
Light: wait, did you just say you’re a god of death?
Tv: we’ve identified the suspect as 42 year old Kurou Otaharada
Light, writing: Kuo…no wait. Kurou Otahara. Wait hang on, Kurou Otahara. Fuck that’s the same way. Oh my god why is his name so hard to spell?! Kurou Otaharada. Yes!
Naomi Misora: my name is Shoko Maki. It’s written with the characters for shining and ko as in child space and key as in tree.
Light internally: perfect. Not only did she tell me her name but also how to spell it. As long as I don’t forget, she’s practically signed her life away
*later*
Light, internally: what happened? Why isn’t she dead? Did I spell her name wrong? No that’s impossible, she told me how to spell it. But then why is Ryuk laughing? She must have used a fake name
*also later*
Light: I’ll need some form of identification before we proceed
Light internally: perfect, this means I’ll be able to check her name spelling and see if she used a fake!
Naomi: oh well, um…
Light: yes?
Naomi: you see the name I gave you earlier, well…it wasn’t actually my real name. I’m so sorry.
Light, internally: yes! my dyslexia wasn’t the thing stopping me from being god!
Light: don’t worry it’s alright. To be honest I’m impressed by how incredibly thorough you’ve been. You’ve stayed one step ahead of me. But I suppose that’s just further proof of your capabilities
Naomi: so will a Japanese drivers license do the trick, then?
Light: sure
Light: *begins writing the name*
*an uncomfortable amount of seconds later*
Naomi: I’m sorry, you’ve been writing my name down for a while…is everything ok?
Light: oh it’s because I’m dyslexic
Naomi: oh ok
Light, finally handing it back: here you go
Naomi: thank you. Why are you checking your watch?
Light: oh, this? It’s because I’m also Kira
Naomi:
