I'm feeling really down with more Tumblr discourse. there's this character in this new popular game that some headcanon as ace but then not long after there's a wave of people saying "you can't headcanon a gay/trans character as ace that's homo/transphobic" like I get they have worry of those who headcanon wrongly but it's also insulting cause that downs the gay ace trans people. like go after the people who don't know what asexuality is not those who identify as that. it's frustrating.

I’m gonna take a wild guess and say you’re talking about Damien from ‘Dream Daddy’ (I call him ‘Fancy goth dad’ and I love him). I’m not much of a gamer, but I watched the Let’s Plays of it. Some people think that because Damien’s arch doesn’t end in sex, like many of the other dads’ stories, that he might be asexual or aspec. However, Damien is also trans and gay. Discoursers like to act like him being ace erases his other two identities somehow, and call others ‘homophobic’ or ‘transphobic’. Like? How? Being trans is not a sexuality and people can be both gay an ace. I just…don’t get that logic where headcanoning a character as homoromanitic asexual is bothering anyone.

OH WAIT! I know. They think that him being ace means that they can’t think about him fucking their dadsona. 😒

But real talk. Like 99% of Tumblr fandom discourse is garbage spewed by (usually very young) people that don’t know any better and probably don’t get out much. They are not experts or authorities on what is or isn’t the ‘right’ headcanon or what a person can identify as. They like to forget that ‘headcanon’ is literally just an interpretation in one’s own head which does nothing to change the canon of a thing or other people’s headcanons. I’ve seen hundreds of headcanons for characters from my favorite shows. I find them interesting, and they can give a different perspective on a character’s life and experiences. Does it ruin the show or character? No! So why not stay in you’re own lane and just do you? 

But yeah, you’re not the only one annoyed by this crap…
