I’ve never seen a separated au with Leo being raised by big mama, what do you think that would be like? (Since he’s kinda rebellious)
For the record, there are AUs where Leo's been raised by Big Mama, the ones I know of are Gemini AU by tangledinink and True Colors AU by v-albion. I'm not super familiar with either of them, but they're there if you wanna check them out.
That being said-
LEO being raised by BIG MAMA omg I have THOUGHTS
Listen, I don't see enough people compare Leo to Big Mama, but he's quite similar to her. Splinter and BM never got a kid together, BUT IF THEY DID that kid would literally be Leo he's basically just a fusion of the two of them!!
As I've mentioned several times before because I love bringing it up, Leo is strategic, quick-witted, observant and good at talking. In the show (as well as in my own AU) Leo's strengths aren't really recognized, let alone aknowledged for a big portion of the story. Because of that, for a long time he doesn't really get the chance to develop these skills, as much potential Leo has to become a master planner his impulsiveness and inexperience has a tendency to get him into trouble.
BUT! All of these skills also happen to be skills that Big Mama has and would value in Leo. So if he were to actually have to opportunity to not only be raised by BM but also trained by her for his entire life. If he got to properly learn strategy, planning, manipulation...?
... Holy shit Leo would be terrifying.
Think about it, canon!Leo managed to out-smart BM in Many Unhappy Returns without any real experience, just imagine what he could do with a whole life-time of training.... yikes!
Not sure what exactly Big Mama and Leo's relationship would look like. In my opinion she would view him as her son and love him dearly, especially if she knew that he's Splinter's biological son.... it's just that BM has interesting ways of showing affection. ("The love of my life just proposed to me?? Great! I'm gonna lock him up in my gladiator fighting ring for the rest of eternity!") She'd at the very least be quite controlling, I imagine.
As you pointed out, Leo can be quite rebellious, so that mixed with Big Mama's obsessive need to be in complete control of everyone around her would certainly cause some tension. Actually... considering how clever Leo would be in this AU... uh oh.
All of these qualities that BM initially appreciated and encouraged in Leo, what if, as Leo became more and more capable, Big Mama started to eventually view them in a more negative light? If she feels like she's loosing control over Leo, if she interprets Leo's rebellion as not just a normal teenage need for independence but rather him malicously working against her. What if she starts viewing him not as an asset or as a tool, but rather a threat?
If BM has reason to believe that Leo might try to overthrow her and take control over her criminal empire, she might take preemptive action and get rid of him before he has the chance to get rid of her.... Not like murder-get-rid-of, I don't think she'd just kill him, lol! But like lock him up, maybe throw him into the Battle Nexus, I dunno. Anything that would allow her to remain in control of both him and her business.
As for Leo, maybe he would actually try to overthrow BM. Considering he was raised by a literal mafia boss, his moral compass is gonna be a bit wack. Maybe Leo's desire for control over himself would cause him to try to seize control over his mother's business. Oooooorrrrr maybe Leo just wants some independance but doesn't actually want to compete with BM, so when she interprets his actions and behavior as malicious he's not prepared for that at all and, as a result, is more than a little hurt that his own mother would take such extreme actions against him. Who knows?
Hhhhhhh there's a lot of fun posibilities here but MAN I'm not really in the mood to work on an entirely new AU. Maybe I'll create some art for it I dunno, this concept is really fun, but I'm not gonna turn this into a proper Thing, so if anyone else wanna steal this concept and explore it for themselves, feel more than free to do that!

Chapter 3 of Ghost Games is out!
(Please start subscribing, I'll stop posting chapters on tumblr after the first arc)
Robin didn't know where he was or what his purpose was being here, but he knew that he had something to do and that his name was Robin.
Nearly 2 days had already passed since he first arrived, but things didn’t seem to be getting any clearer with his memories.
Nightingale and Sparrow were pouring over a pile of newspapers together and Robin watched them out of the corner of his eye. The three of them had avoided the eyes of teachers and snuck into the library. After all, the principal had only mentioned that being late would be a punishable offense, not skipping class.
Robin had distinctly remembered the rules just to exploit its loopholes, so he wasn't bothered as he unhurriedly looked through articles and books at the same time as he was observing the other two.
Sparrow had a cute face and a bigger-than-himself personality. He was bold and quick to act, as well as secretive. He probably hadn't realized that he was prone to hiding his reactions from everybody else, although he did seem to have a special connection with Nightingale.
Speaking of Nightingale...
She approached him and asked nervously, "Are you sure that we can be here? Class just started."
"As long as we don't get caught, it's probably fine," Robin said.
Nightingale nodded, her expression worried as she glanced at the librarian who was staring off into space. She looked skittish and paranoid.
Nightingale was clearly a people pleaser. She was far more afraid of punishment and consequences than Sparrow or Robin was, but she was also vastly more empathetic and well-spoken than the two. With a few words, she had been able to skillfully defuse the situation the other day and she had even helped them gain a tentative ally.
She was also very, very pretty. Her red hair contrasted with her blue-green eyes and she was very smart and kind. It was exactly the two things that Robin liked in a person.
If he was here, he probably would've teased Robin to death.
.... Who was he again?
Robin had a feeling that if he had his memories, he would be far more embarrassed by his developing crush on Nightingale.
The bell had already rung, so Nightingale put aside her worries and went back to Sparrow. The two of them continued to find any traces of an urban legend in the newspapers while Robin went to find a computer. After finding one some steps away, he began typing out specific words and sentences in hopes of finding anything.
Almost in unison, both groups found something.
Sparrow and Nightingale raced over to Robin, just as he turned around to show them what he found as well.
"We found something!" Sparrow blurted out. "Several girls were killed in a freak accident a week ago! Apparently, they're all girls from the class 2-B! That class stays in the dormitory that Nightingale is in, and I think us too!"
Robin nodded and said, "I also found that article on the school's website." Knowing that he had to reward competence, Robin praised, "Good work making the connections for the dormitory part, I didn't know about that."
Sparrow beamed. Nightingale asked, "What did you find?"
"It's definitely connected to the urban legend. Look." He moved the computer mouse and scrolled through the various comments underneath the article, where students had been writing violent messages that cursed out the students of 2-B for causing a mess and bringing about their own deaths. "The students seem to know what's the cause, and that the incident was not accidental."
"... is it a ghost haunting them or something?" Sparrow asked and Robin considered this.
He was about to speak his mind when there was suddenly a loud scraping noise. They all turned to the noise and the old librarian, who had been harmlessly daydreaming only moments ago, was now glaring at them with vicious red eyes and a frothing snarl on her face. Her withered face looked even more haunting as veins jutted out from underneath her skin as she glared at them with such ferocity that her eyes almost bugged out.
"Students..!" She hissed and her nails scratched against the shelf she was leaning against so hard that it left gouges. "Students out of class!!"
She charged towards them.
In an instant, Robin picked up the keyboard and threw it at her. She shrieked in rage and slashed it in half with a wave of her suddenly sharp claws. Nightingale screamed in surprise and Sparrow grabbed the entire computer and tossed it at the librarian.
It smashed against her face and the three of them scattered like rats. Robin quickly ran to the exit, but the librarian was already there, as if she had teleported. She smiled with sharp teeth and flexed her claws, as Robin skittered to a halt some distance away.
"You can't run now, little bookworm~." Her long tongue lolled out of her mouth and licked her cracked lips. Robin cringed.
He immediately pivoted and ran away. The thuds of the librarian immediately followed after him and Robin barely had the instinct to duck before an entire shelf full of books were shredded in front of his eyes, paper particles flying everywhere. His heart pounded from the adrenaline and he was already feeling that familiar high from a chase.
If he had been less aware, he would've been flayed alive.
The moment he ducked, he rolled out of the way and continued running. There was a sharp whistle and Robin turned to the sound as Sparrow sat on top of a bookshelf. He waved him over quickly and Robin turned again, quick to dodge another one of the librarian's swipes before he jumped up, grabbed hold of the edge of a shelf, and then swung himself up to the top where Sparrow was.
They jumped onto the next shelf as the librarian began tearing apart the shelves. Books and wooden planks fell to the floor in the librarian's mindless rage. Sawdust drifted in the air.
"Is this one of the punishments?" Sparrow asked and Robin nodded.
"I think so. Where's Nightingale?"
Sparrow smiled. "You'll see. Run!"
They continued to jump to each shelf in front of them, and the librarian followed. By the time they ended up on a shelf that was placed against the wall, almost half of the library was decimated and shredded.
Robin was panting and exhausted. Sparrow looked surprisingly much better than he did and to ease their tension as they observed the librarian stalking towards them with a single-minded devotion to kill, he said, "Did we get all of the information we could from the newspapers?"
"When we started running, Nightingale saw that she was chasing you so she ran to take the newspapers first," Sparrow said, eying the librarian warily. She seemed to be acting much slower as if to savor the sight of their fear.
Robin, however, was a little more focused on the fact that Nightingale was so quick thinking. Damn, Nightingale was so awesome.
"You got a plan?" Robin asked.
Sparrow shrugged. "Kinda. Ready to run?"
"Where?" Robin stared at him, bewildered. They were trapped on all sides. Even if they split up, Robin didn't feel safe doing that when there wasn't a guarantee that the librarian wouldn't chase after him.
Sparrow grinned again and he called out, just as the librarian was right underneath them, "Now!"
The shelf behind her, one that had remained surprisingly upright, started moving and then toppled over.
The librarian turned, eyes widening before she screeched, only to shout in pain as the mess of broken wood pieces and books all fell on top of her. Robin immediately understood the unspoken plan and the two of them quickly pushed against the wall with their back before pushing over another bookshelf on top of her too.
They jumped onto the fallen shelf, stomping on the fallen librarian, and then ran away. Nightingale had already scurried off after pushing the shelf and she smiled at them when she saw them.
Just as she was about to open the door so they could leave, Sparrow pulled her back. Without words, Robin knew that it was a situation like last night and the two boys maneuvered themselves onto the top of the bookshelves again.
When Robin turned, he expected Nightingale to be struggling, but instead, she had also leapt up easily, mainly using her height to get on top of the shelf.
Was this normal?
It must be, since they could do similar things.
Robin was very glad that he got two people who were similar to him with good skills and friendly dispositions.
The door leading out of the library opened and the principal walked in. Since the book shelves were tall, she wasn't able to easily see them if she was purposefully putting her gaze to the ceiling.
The principal looked at the half-demolished library and clicked her tongue. She left the door open as she walked deeper inside.
In that moment, the three all quickly and quietly dropped to the floor and slipped out.
————
They found a nice hiding spot in a hidden alcove underneath the stairs. After making sure that they couldn't easily be found, they all relaxed. Nightingale pulled the crumpled newspapers out of her shirt and she spread them on the floor.
Robin sighed, a little disappointed to have lost the computer. "At least we still have the newspapers. Good work, you two."
Both Nightingale and Sparrow smiled widely. Robin couldn't help returning their smiles with his own and they continued to scour through the newspapers. Now with the knowledge that the deaths were attributed to some sort of curse or haunting, they could guess that the urban legend had probably resulted from an accident before.
But as they searched through the newspapers, they found nothing. There were many deaths that had been occurring for the past year, but before that, zilch.
"So we know that the deaths happened three years ago, but what triggered it? Urban legends usually have ghosts in them, and they are often based around a place..."
Robin felt like he was forgetting something. He tried to recall everything that had happened to them before. The principal, the tour, the rules, the dormitories, the hallway monitor, the shadow...
Robin felt a little skeptical of the idea that a shadow was an urban legend. Weren't urban legends usually about ghosts or strange phenomena like an extra step on the stairs or something?
Though Robin really couldn't be the judge of what urban legends he knew, since he didn't directly remember any.
Still, he didn't voice his opinion because he didn't want to accidentally ruin the other two's thought processes with extra information, especially if he wasn't sure of it.
However, just as he thought this, Sparrow said, "Do you think that shadow that Robin and I saw the other night was the urban legend?"
Dumbfounded, Robin blurted out, "But don't ghosts look different? Or is the urban legend about something else?"
"Ghosts look like all sorts of stuff. The shadow we probably saw was probably a specter."
Robin stared at Sparrow skeptically, even as Nightingale nodded along to his words. "How do you know this? Were you a ghost hunter in your past life?"
Then that was when both Sparrow and Nightingale paused, their expressions turning strange. Robin blinked and waited for them to speak but when they didn't say anything, he didn't ask.
Instead, he just said, "The newspapers won't tell us anything, so I think it's time to talk to students."
The two of them agreed, but their minds definitely weren't into it.
Later, as Sparrow announced that he would first scout the school for any places to investigate, Nightingale approached Robin.
"Do you believe him when Sparrow says that the shadow is probably a ghost and part of the urban legend?"
Robin tilted his head. He stared at her, observing how her expression changed minutely from nervous to confident to shyness to worry and then back again, cycling through emotions like a bicycle. She was way too cute, especially for Robin, who had been trained since young to hide his emotions and know what to show and say.
.... Trained?
The memories Robin held were far too confusing and muddled for them to make sense.
Robin answered Nightingale, "Not really, because I don't believe ghosts are real. But I'll defer to your judgment because it seems you know more than me."
Nightingale's growing tension finally fell off her shoulders and she said, "You probably think we're weird."
"If you're weird, so am I. We're in a game with ghosts after all." Robin shrugged and lightly shook his head. Nightingale was far too unsure of herself. "We're in this together, okay? We'll beat this ghost and figure out what's going on."
"Thank you, Robin." Nightingale fully relaxed and then smiled.
Hearing the name 'Robin' come out of her mouth was far too nice. Robin couldn't stop the blush that overcame him as he turned around and busily collected newspapers and pretended to tidy them up. Nightingale stood next to him, silent. They were kept in a comfortable silence for a while as the two secretly observed the other.
Then, that was when Sparrow popped back in. "You guys! I saw some students sneaking out!"
Robin perked up. "Students? You sure?"
"Yep! And I think they know something!" Sparrow waved a hand to beckon them. "Let's go!"

jin ling for the ask meme! 🙏👀
-Technically a Fairy fun fact, but: Fair is waist-high/half the size of a person!
-JL has seen both his uncles go night-hunting; at least before seeing LWJ fight at Yi City, he thought they were the best cultivators in the world.
-Since childhood, JL lived part of the time at Jinlintai and part of the time at Lotus Pier.*
-JGY gave Fairy to him when Fairy was still a puppy and JL was only a few years old.
*As you can see below, ER has when he was a child, but MDZS Translation has since he was small and in this case I favour the MDZS Translation.
Fairy's size and fur colour, ch. 20:
Exiled Rebels:
As he turned around to look, a black-haired spiritual dog of waist height went out of a corner, dashing straight at him. The cries of fear on the street came closer and closer, louder and louder, “A mad dog’s on the loose!”
MDZS Translation:
Turning his head, he saw a black-maned spirit dog half the height of a man swing around the corner and bound directly toward him. Along the street, the cries of fear grew louder and louder and nearer and nearer. “A vicious cur’s on the loose!”
JL on his uncles, ch. 38:
Exiled Rebels:
He had seen Jiang Cheng and Jin GuangYao go on night-hunts and kill beasts, which made him think that his two uncles were the two most powerful cultivators in the entire world.
MDZS Translation:
He had seen Jiang Cheng and Jin Guangyao in action during night hunts beheading monsters, and thought his uncles were the two most powerful cultivators in the world.
JL having grown up in both Jinlintai and Lotus Pier, ch 38:
Exiled Rebels:
When Jin Ling was young, he was brought up by two sects. He lived at the LanlingJin Sect’s Jinlin Tower half the time, and the YunmengJiang Sect’s Lotus Pier the other half, so he should be carrying belongings from both sects.
MDZS Translation:
Jin Ling had been raised by both clans since he was small. He would live at the Lanling Jin Clan’s Jinlin Terrace for a while, then live at the Yunmeng Jiang Clan’s Lotus Pier.
Fairy and JL's age when he receives Fairy, ch 110:
Exiled Rebels:
Fairy was waiting anxiously outside for his master, barking a couple of times. Hearing the barks, Jin Ling suddenly remembered that when Fairy was still a clumsy little puppy that couldn’t even reach his knees, Jin GuangYao was the one who brought it over.
Back then, he was only a few years old. [...]

Back at it again with my self-indulgent comic posts. This time! It’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #3, perhaps the most tonally-distinct entry yet, with shades of The Twilight Zone.
Spoilers!
So, as mentioned, this issue is the most deliberate in terms of both its pacing and its tone, IMO.
What is that tone, you ask?
To quote Alex Danvers, from “Midvale”: Hello, darkness.
THE STORY:
Kara and Ruthye are still looking for Krem Clues in the alien town of Maypole.
(Which is actually just Small Town, USA, complete with vintage 50s aesthetics.)
But the locals are clearly hiding something! So Kara and Ruthye continue to investigate, and they eventually discover what it was that the residents of Maypole were so keen to keep hidden.
Genocide, basically.
As I said, this issue struck me as very Twilight Zone; a genre story involving the build-up to a dark twist, all set against the backdrop of an idyllic small town. (Think, like, “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” but instead of focusing on the Red Scare, it’s classism and racism.)
The wealthier blue aliens kicked all of the purple aliens out of town, and when space pirates showed up to pillage and plunder, the blue aliens made a deal with them: the lives of the purple aliens in exchange for their safety.
Which is where the episodic story connects to the larger mission; it was Krem who suggested the trade, and then joined up with the Brigands (space pirates) when he was freed by the blue aliens.
The issue ends with no tidy resolution to the terrible things Kara and Ruthye discovered, but they do have a lead on where to find Krem, now, as well as Barbond’s Brigands.
KARA-CTERIZATION:
Ironically, it’s here, in the darkest chapter yet, that we get the closest to what might be considered ‘classic’ Kara.
Which I think comes down to that aforementioned deliberate pace--this issue is a little slower, a little quieter. It gives the characters some room to breathe.
That’s not to say Crusty Kara is gone. Oh no. She is still very much Crusty. XD
But anyways. A list! Of Kara moments I loved!
I mentioned a few of these in a prior post when the preview pages came out: I like the moment where Kara blows down the guy’s house of cards, and I like that the action is echoed later in the issue when she grabs the mayor’s desk and tosses it aside. A nice visual representation of the escalation of Kara being, like. Done with these creeps. (Creeps is an understatement but you get the idea.)
Another one from the preview pages: Kara explains to Ruthye that her super hearing won’t necessarily help her detect a lie, especially if she’s dealing with an alien species she’s not familiar with.
It not only reveals her level of competence and understanding of her super powers, it also shows that, you know. She’s a thinker. She’s smart.
Amazing! Showing, rather than telling us, that Kara is smart! Without mentioning the science guild at all wow hey wow.
(Sorry, pointed criticism of the SG show fandom.)
Anyways.
I dig the PJs!
And Kara catching the bullet! Not only are the poses and character acting great, it’s also a neat bit of panel composition:
We start with Ruthye’s POV, and then move to the wide shot of the room. The panel where Kara actually catches the bullet is down and to the side of the wide shot panel--we move our eyes the way her body/arm would have to move to intercept the bullet. Physicality in static, 2D images!
Also, like. It’s a very tense moment, life-or-death, but. Ruthye’s wide-eyed surprise at the bullet in Kara’s hand? Kind of adorable.
I was pretty much prepared for the page of Kara shielding Ruthye from the gunfire to be the highlight--it was one of the first pages King shared and I was like, ‘yeah, YEAH.’ But, shockingly? The TRUE highlight of the issue?
Where do I BEGIN?!?!
EVERYTHING. About this moment. Is lovely.
From Kara holding Ruthye above the bench to explaining the concept of a piggyback ride, to telling her:
“I’m going to hold my hands here, and these hands can turn coal into diamonds, so they’re not going to let go. I’m going to keep you safe.”
HNNNNNNNNNNNG.
Ruthye’s narration--about how Kara had avoided flying as she was concerned it would freak Ruthye out--just adds a whole additional layer of YES, GOOD, YES, and her line on that splash page is great: “You see, all that time, she was worried about me.”
HNNNNNNNNNNNG. AGAIN.
To say nothing of the STELLAR ARTWORK.
And SPEAKING of that stellar artwork, Evely and Lopes continue to knock it out of the park. Each issue is distinct and beautifully crafted, a true joy to look at.
Before I jump into more of the art, a few final notes of character stuff in general.
Ruthye is the one most affected by the experience in Maypole, as she can’t comprehend how a society of people that look so nice and gentle and peaceful could have been party to such a horrible act.
One of the big criticisms of the book thus far is that Supergirl is not the main character, and I guess I can agree with that observation. Typically, in Western media, the main character is the one who goes through the most change in the story.
And, yeah. That’s Ruthye.
As I was reading the end, where Ruthye sits on the curb and Kara hugs her, I was imagining how the scene would’ve played, had King stuck with the original idea for the series: Kara as the one learning to be tough/experiencing all of this for the first time, and while I think that could certainly work...
I continue to appreciate that King literally flipped the script; that Kara, especially in this issue, is like, ‘I’ve seen this, I know this,’ as opposed to being the one going through a loss of innocence.
*Marge Simpson voice* I just think it’s neat!
Because Kara’s been a teen in DC comics for so long--ever since she was reintroduced to the main DCU continuity, actually--so this is all brand new territory, here. Having an older Kara who’s SEEN SOME STUFF.
(Alsoooooo, since Bendis made the destruction of Krypton not just inaction and climate disaster, but rather, genocide, and the subtext of a Kryptonian diaspora text, the waitress’ derogatory comment regarding the the destruction of Kryton, as well as Kara picking up the bad vibes the entire time, suggests not just a broad commentary on discrimination in all its forms, but specifically allegorical anti-Semitism. The purple aliens being forced out of their homes and into substandard living conditions, then the blue aliens--their neighbors and once-fellow residents--essentially allowing the space pirates to kill them, making them literal scapegoats, Kara discovering the remains of the purple aliens, and Ruthye’s horror at the ‘banality of evil’...yes. A case could be made, I think.)
(Which would probably require a post unto itself and a lot more in-depth discussion, nuance, and cited sources.)
(Should mention that King has brought up that both he and Orlando--the other Supergirl writer he talked to--are Jewish, and for him personally, that shaped his views on Kara’s origin story.)
I guess my point is that this issue is perhaps not as out-of-left-field as some might think, and just because there isn’t as obvious an arc for Kara, doesn’t mean there isn’t some sharp character work at play.
(I could be WAY OFF, of course, and I’m not suggesting it’s a clear 1:1 comparison. I’d actually really love to hear King talk about this issue in particular.)
Anyways.
Here’s the final page, which I think works, because as I mentioned before, there is no easy answer/quick wrap-up to the story of Maypole:
THE ART:
I mean. How many times can I just shout ‘ART! AAAARRRRRRRRRRRTTTT!’ before it gets old?
I dunno, but I guess we’re gonna FIND OUT.
There are some panels in this issue that I just. Like ‘em! From a purely artistic standpoint! Because they’re so good!
Like, I just really love the way Kara is drawn in that top panel. Her troubled, confused expression, the colors of the fading light, the HAIR.
Evely draws the best hair. I know I’ve said this before. I don’t care. I will continue to say it, because it continues to be true.
The issue I find myself running up against when I make these posts is that I really don’t want to post whole pages, as that’s generally frowned upon (re: pirating etc.) but with something like this, you just can’t appreciate it in panel-by-panel snippets.
(Guided View on digital reading platforms is a BANE and a POX I say!)
Anyways.
LOVE the implied movement of the cape settling as Kara speeds in and stops.
And, obviously, Kara flicking the bullet away is just. A+.
And the EYES, man. LOPES’ COLORS ON THE EYES???!?! BEAUTIFUL.
Also, should note the lettering! The more rounded letters for the ‘WOOSH’ of Kara’s speed (and, earlier, the super breath) work nicely, and contrast with the angular, violent BLAMS of the gunshots.
And, I gotta say, the editor is doing a really great job of not cluttering up the artwork with all the caption boxes. Which is no small task.
(I assume the editor is placing them, as editors usually handle word balloon/caption box placement, but I suppose it could be Evely? Sometimes the artist handles it. Either way, whoever’s taking care of all the text, EXCELLENT WORK! BRAVO!)
Okay I think that’s everything.
Ah, nope, wait.
MISC.
Just a funny observation, more than anything else: Superman: Red and Blue dropped this week, and King had a story in there, “The Special” (which was very good, btw.) Both Lois and the waitress swear a lot so I’m beginning to think that this is just how King writes dialogue for any adult character who isn’t Clark. XD
This is absolutely a personal preference but when Kara was like, “And my name IS Supergirl,” I was like nooooo. I know King is trying to simplify all of the conflicting origin stories and lore but I LIKE KARA DANVERS, SIR. XD
It’s almost assuredly a cash-grab/an attempt for DC to get all the money it can out of a book they don’t have much confidence in, but I like the cardstock covers! Very classy, much Strange Adventures.
(OH my gosh, can you imagine that issue 1 cover with spot gloss???? Basically the only way you could possibly improve on it.)
Okay NOW I’m done. For real. XD NEXT TIME: Kara and Ruthye go after Krem and the Brigands!
#supergirl: woman of tomorrow#long post#dc comics#supergirl: woman of tomorrow spoilers#kara zor el#comic thoughts#comic opinions#just occurred to me I should be crediting the creative team in these things#I think thus far I've included every title page?#still#will try to be better about that going forward

For the NSFW alphabet, Obi-Wan Kenobi?
A/N: A quick reminder to COMMENT AND REBLOG IF YOU LIKE THIS!!! The tags hate me personally and these take just as much effort as drabbles or one-shots. Help a girl out.
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He’s so attentive to your needs. You could ask him for a specific type of soup made in an obscure restaurant somewhere in the depths of Coruscant and he’d find a way to get it to you. Most of the time though, he’ll run a bath or hold you close and overall make you feel comfortable and loved.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
He loves your lips. He loves the way they feel on his. He loves the words that spring from them. The mind that gives them motion. The way they curve into a smile or poke into a pout he just wants to kiss away.
For himself, Obi Wan is very proud of his hair; both the kind of his head and his beard. He takes the time to care for it and absolutely loves the feeling of your fingers running through it.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
Obi-Wan rarely cums inside you unless you specifically ask him to, even with a condom. Maybe it’s paranoia, but he even if he’s enjoying himself in the moment, some part of him starts to panic the second he comes down from his high. Rather than go through all of that, he ends up cumming on your stomach more times than not.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Not long after meeting you, Obi Wan had his first wet dream he had since he was a teenager. Usually he’s able to control such urges, but something about seeing you in that outfit, speaking with Senators and holding the confidence of a queen did things to him. It took him almost a week of meditation and serious concentration to be able to even look you in the eye.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Extremely limited. Like one person limited. Like Satine and only once limited. He only starts doing his research under a deep layer of encryption code when you get together. Even then, he prefers to learn through trial and error. There are some awkward nights, but you know he’s trying.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Call him basic, but missionary. He likes being able to see your face. He loves having full access to your mouth while pulling you close to him. Not to mention it’s easier for him to pull out when the time comes.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
He switches back and forth between studious observation on what you do and don’t like, and being a sassy little bitch. He knows there are going to be moments when he’s still figuring out exactly what he’s doing and so has to make a joke to ease the tension. Also, he likes to tease you. It’s his thing. Almost a reflex at this point.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
He hasn’t really been paying attention besides keeping it all clean, but once you get together he takes the time to trim it back at least. He takes pride in his hair, no matter where it grows. And there is quite a bit down there.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
Obi Wan can be such a romantic and nobody can convince me otherwise. There have been times he just comes to your room with absolutely nothing smart to say and just kiss you like you’re the most precious thing in the universe before you even start undressing. You guys don’t get a lot of time together and Obi Wan want to make the most of it while you can.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Obi Wan has some Catholic level guilt when it comes to masturbating. He hasn’t really done it since he was a much younger Padawan and when he’s with you, he’s had enough training to wait until he can see you again. It’s when he’s on Coruscant with you and can’t touch you that’s the real kicker.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Major praise kink, both giving and receiving. He loves nothing more than worshiping your body, whispering soft insistent praises in your ear. And when you turn the tables? When you tell him how good he makes your feel, how perfect he is, how precise and attentive; he loses it.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
You’re either at your place outside the walls of the Senate or the Jedi Temple OR you’re in some rented room far away from where anyone else can find you. It’s not ideal, but Obi Wan doesn’t want to risk people finding out about the two of you. It bothers you sometimes, but that’s the deal you made to be with him. When you’re in your home, you can relax and actually be together like a real couple. It’s nice, to pretend for a little while.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Competency. Seriously, the moment you give a rousing speech to the Senate or rescue him from an attack or even just hold your own in a fight, he’s practically vibrating as he waits for a moment alone with you.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Age play or just a big age difference period. Padawan/Master relationships are going be thrown right out the window. He sees it in the same light as a parent and child and any reference to it genuinely turns his stomach.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
He gives and receives with equal enthusiasm. The sight of your lips wrapped around his cock is mesmerizing with the added bonus of him feeling free to cum inside you at he wishes. Seeing you lick cum off your lips sends him.
At the same time, hearing the noises that spill from those lips as he goes down on you can be just as enticing. He loves the way you yank at his hair when he does something truly magic with his tongue. He loves your taste and takes a kind of pride at the bread burn on the inside of your thighs, even if you don’t always appreciate it.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Slow and sensual is the way of the game more times than not. Like I said before, you don’t have as much time together as other couples and so Obi Wan wants to take his time with you, drawing out the pleasure for as long as he can.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
That’s going to be a negative. Quickies imply you can’t take your time because one of you has to be somewhere which means someone will come looking if you’re not there on time. Quickies can easily be lead to being caught and Obi Wan cannot relax long enough to have one.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Obi Wan really is willing to try most anything with you so long as you discuss it before hand; just so long as it’s no where near the Jedi Temple. Have a mentioned he’s completely paranoid about being caught?
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
It takes him a little while to build his stamina, given his lack of experience, but he can go for a while now. He usually is good after one round, but he makes it last as long as possible, making you cum at least twice, if not more before he does. That being said, if it’s been a really long while since you’ve seen each other, he can go for two or three. Jedi recoup powers are a very real thing.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
He doesn’t have any himself, but like I said he’s willing to try anything with his partner so long as they discuss it before hand.
There is something to be said for him being able to hold you down while he teases you with a vibrator and making you cum over and over again.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Once he figures out how; he’s the biggest fucking tease in the galaxy. He’ll let you linger on the edge for well over an hour before he lets you cum. And for all his talk about not getting caught, damn does he like to get you hot and bothered in public. If it wasn’t for his reputation of flirting with everyone then you’d be in much bigger trouble.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
He usually a bit more quiet almost out of habit. His words never rise beyond a whisper in your ear and his muffles in moans by burying them in your skin.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
He is terrified at the idea of you being pregnant; not because he doesn’t want to be a father, but because he knows he would.
When you’re together in secret, he can pretend like he can have both; being a Jedi and being with you. But, if you became pregnant? He knows he would leave the Jedi Order in a second, no questions asked. You could ask him tomorrow and he would probably say yes. The only reason why you don’t is because you know how important being a Jedi is to him. And knowing deep down inside you have that kind of power over his future terrifies him, but he loves you too much to let it scare him away.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
He’s hung and he doesn’t even know it. It takes everything in you not to drool when you first see it; long and thick, but not so much for it to hurt. He actually ask you how he compares and you have to lie; you can’t have his ego boosted anymore or his head will explode. (He finds out later, but details)
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Not extremely high, but just high enough that as soon as he’s given his report to the Council after a mission he’s at your door and kissing your senseless.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Once he knows you’re comfortable, he’s out like a light. You feel a kind of pride in that, knowing that he trusts you enough to relax and actually let sleep take him.

Hero Collaboration Program
Chapter 2 pt. 2 of 2: Welcome to The Program -->
Chapter 2 pt. 1 --> Chapter 1
Miss. Frizzle turned on her heel and walked over to a rack of dodgeballs that Mr. Jones hid from view behind him. Taking a few balls, she began placing them on the white chalked line on the grass. The field was marked out for them to play almost any sport. The ends were marked out as makeshift nets and the edge of the middle had poles protruding out the ground with the volleyball net tied snugly to one, in case they decided to play. The storage room contains the actual soccer nets and all the sports balls as well as chairs, and foldable tables.
“The rules are pretty simple. You’ll be placed into two teams and are allowed to use your quirks in any way to help you. You are not allowed to step over the line to the other team's side. You can't leave the court unless you grab stray balls, at least until you have 'dead' players to retrieve them for you. If you attempt to catch a ball only to drop it, you are out. No headshots, you'll be eliminated if you do. If you are hit by a fly ball, you are out, even if it wasn't intended for you."
"The point of this activity is to get you all used to one another’s abilities right off the bat. You’ll have to remain as coordinated as possible and have faith that your teammates will work with you. As far as I know, just about none of you have a proper understanding of each other's abilities. Heroes fight alongside heroes they’ve never worked with, this is how you learn to adjust to that.” He bounced the ball in his hand a few times as he spoke, his eyes scanning the crowd of students before him. The moment he was done talking, he threw the ball at a girl with dark hair that shines blue in the sunlight. She squeaked at this sudden action, but caught the ball with no problem.
“Marinette, come on up.” A little nervously, the girl walked around the crowd and made her way to stand next to Mr. Jones. Her free hand fiddled with the base of her loose over the shoulder pink top, dark pink sweatpants shifted as she moved to face the students. Her dark hair was tied back into a neat bun. Before she could ask Mr. Jones a question, a ball flew in between them. Turning her head, she spotted the moment a dark skinned male with braids caught the ball.
“Very good Virgil! Please, make your way up.” Miss. Frizzle giggled, suddenly standing on Mr. Jones’s other side. The male shrugged his shoulders and made his way over. He wore a loose white tank top that showed off his toned arms and khaki sweatpants. “Ladies and Gentlemen, meet your team captains.”
Mr. Jones pulled out a quarter, “Heads or tails?” he asked the two teens.
“Heads/Tails” they responded in unison. Looking over to one another, they laughed softly.
“Great! Virgil will be heads and Marinette, tails.” He flipped the coin in the air. In a fluid motion, he caught it and flipped it to rest on the back of his other hand, “And the person to choose their teammates first is…” He moved his hand to reveal the coin. “Tai-” Before he could even say the word, the coin flipped itself over.
“Heads.” Virgil smirked smugly as he brought his hand back down into his pocket. Marinette’s eyes widened in realization at what had just occurred. “He said we could use our quirks to help us. He never said it had to be during the game, so I’m taking advantage to get the first pick.” The young girl’s eyes narrowed slightly. So he’s going to take the game seriously, fine, she will too. Virgil has just unlocked her competitive side, and from the fact that his smug smirk widened, that would mean he was hoping for that.
Oh, game on.
“It’s good to know you know how to read between the lines and find loopholes.” Many of the students straightened up at his words, Mr Jones grinned widely, “Virgil gets first pick! Take turns, you two!”
“Cool, I pick,” He looked over at everyone. He spoke with some of the guys during foosball, they seemed pretty skilled, “Manny.” A boy with curly hair, wearing a loose gray T-shirt and cargo shorts, let go of his girlfriend's hand and walked over to his new team captain.
Marinette’s eyes scanned the crowd, “Um…” Her eyes landed on a boy with messy black hair. His brown eyes were busy scanning each of the students. She recalls him speaking to her in French as she sat outside sketching, a rather pleasant surprise and conversation. When he had left she had noticed that he was making his rounds speaking to everyone, even during breakfast he bounced around. Maybe it’s just her competitive side hoping, but he just might know what everyone's skills are, he just might be useful. “Hiro.” She said, pointing to the boy with a red graphic T-shirt and knee-length shorts. He gave her a sly smirk and casually made his way over.
“Whatcha think man?” Virgil asked Manny as they both scanned the crowd.
“I don’t really know anybody’s quirks or skills… Frida is quirkless but has killer parkour experience.” Manny spoke with a pretty heavy accent. He crossed his arms over his chest, “Um, Billy seemed pretty cool too. So did Gar.” Virgil nods to what his partner said.
“Then we’ll just have to get all three of them.” He spoke up louder, “Gar.”
“Glad I was a first choice.” Hiro spoke quite fluently in French as he walked over to her. Marinette smiled kindly.
“I noticed that you were going around speaking to everyone this morning and during breakfast. Quite the social butterfly, aren’t you?”
Hiro chuckled softly, “Ah, and here I thought you realized I was actually gathering information on everyone.”
“No, but I was hoping you’d have some to help us. Good to know I wasn’t completely off."
“Right! Well, I suggest the Possible duo. Kim is quirkless but has cheerleading and acrobatics skills. That will definitely be useful for us. Her partner, Ron, has a quirk that turns any of his bad luck around into good luck. That would be useful to us, oh! And Damian would be useful too, I’m pretty sure he also noticed me gathering information. He seems smart and observant, don’t know what he can do though, I couldn't get anything out of him.”
“Still impressed, you gathered a lot of information.”
“Of course I did. Just ask people about themselves, and they’ll reveal information without realizing it.” Now that she thinks about it, Marinette does recall being the one to do most of the talking. Oh, this guy is cunning. She smirked.
“Oh, I like you. Glad to have you on board.” They exchanged a handshake and a mischievous smirk before the female turned to call out a name, “Kim.”
Virgil’s eyes narrowed slightly as his opponent’s gave one another a handshake. “Whatcha guys think? Frida, or Billy next?”
“Oh! Actually, before we choose one of them, I suggest Damian. He’s quirkless, but he’s a force to be reckoned with!” Garfield eagerly put in his opinion, “He’s really smart and calculating. He’s skillful in fights, too.”
“Whatcha think?” Virgil looked to Manny.
“I don’t really got a problem with it.” Manny shrugged, “If he’s that good, he should not go to the other team.”
“Gotcha. Damian.”
Marinette almost cursed. There goes one of their choices. Oh well, they still have other players to choose from.
“Hey I think we should get Ron on our team, his quirk would probably come in handy for this, its-”
“Karmic Luck. Any of his bad luck is countered with a burst of good luck.” Hiro cut Kim off, catching her off guard.
“Yeah, how did you…?”
“He’s quite the social butterfly.” Marinette smiled before calling for Ron. It took a moment before Kim realized what she meant by that. He had come up to them while they were playing 8ball and got Ron talking and talking.
A smirk crossed her lips as she cocked her hip out and placed her hands on them, “Oh, you are sneaky. This will definitely make things interesting.” Hiro gave her a thanks in response.
Damian wanted to roll his eyes at the current conversation happening in front of him. The idiots seem to just be gathering people they have spoken too. He does not want to be on a team of incompetent players. Finally, having enough on rather or not Frida or Billy would be a good fit he butts in. “Why not select Lee. She seems fairly competent and skilled. She also seems to have quick reflexes, from the way she easily caught Parr’s tray when she slipped this morning.” Garfield, Manny and Virgil all stared at Damian in silence.
“What?”
“I mean, like, I don’t disagree with what you said and all, they sound like a good fit but like…”
“Maldita sea, no sé ni la mitad de lo que dijo.” Manny mumbled under his breath as he ran a hand down his face. As if knowing his struggle, Garfield pats his back reassuringly.
“Dude, who’s Lee and Parr?” Garfield asked for them. Damian almost rolled his eyes.
“Juniper and Violet. It’s their last names.” he stated as if it were obvious.
“Dude… you call people by their last names? I mean, like no offense, but like… why?”
“It’s just a thing he does to people he doesn’t really know.” Garfield shrugs, “It's weird, but it’s his thing.”
“It’s simply polite to call an individual I am not close to by their last names,” Damian crossed his arms over his chest.
“Alright Mr. Fancy, but I would prefer it if you just went by our given names, you dig?” Virgil gave him a half smile
“I do not, but very well. I shall compromise, when I mention someone to you, I’ll use given names, however I will not do so when I speak to people directly.”
“I mean… that works?”
“On that note. We should be vigilant with the other team. Hama - Hiro has gone around to speak with everyone in the group. He has information on everyone. It will make it easier for them to choose worthy opponents.”
“What!? Hiro? But he was so nice!” Garfield frowned, his pointed ears drooping.
“Yes, well do tell, what did you talk about with him?”
“Oh! I told him about my diet, my girlfriend, my quirk, and what hero training is like in my school!”
Virgil clicked his tongue when he realized he just about spoke about the same things with the guy, “Oh man,… he knows our quirks and experience level.”
“And he went around speaking to everyone.” Manny added with a sigh
“If we wish to win, we have to take into consideration what we know of everyone and choose wisely.”
“Gotcha. So, Juniper right?” Virgil calls out her name the moment Damian confirms it.
“Zachary”
“Jenny.”
“Danny”
“Frida”
“Violet”
“Miles”
“Betty”
“Rudy”
“Fiona”
“Billy” Marinette mentally fist pumped as Jake walked over to her team. Virgil took some of the people she wanted, but she got some of the players she was hoping for. Miss. Frizzle gave them all a ten-minute period where they could discuss. Going on their own side of the field, the teams began explaining their skill set to one another, as well as coming up with possible strategies.

It’s @agirlnamedkeith‘s birthday today! And since I could not get my shit together enough to write anything for her, I thought that--at the risk of making her feel weird--I would talk a little bit about her writing instead.
“I’ll talk about three fics I love of hers,” I thought, and then went to her AO3 profile and realized it would be impossible to narrow it down to three. So. Five fics of Hannah’s that I love, in no particular order, and obviously not a remotely comprehensive list, also I am skipping We Make the Rules because everyone knows it’s amazing but let me be clear that it is fucking amazing and I think about it like once a week, and anyway:
with a hint of sin (Jaime/Addam/Brienne, rated E, 5851 words) - LOVE ME SOME J/A/B, Y’ALL. Back when I first discovered Hannah’s fic and I was looking through her back catalog, I saw her J/A/B fics and went “...huh” and then I read them and went “yessssssss.” This canonverse-ish fic involves several extremely sexy scenarios and also the warmth and connection between the three of them is so palpable and swoony. Addam’s description of Brienne that’s used in the summary makes me a little teary (and, okay, also thirsty) every time, and I love how Brienne is inexperienced in this but still enthusiastic, and the hot and affectionate history between Jaime and Addam, and just generally the thought of the three of them having this little sexy sweet cocoon in the middle of everything that’s raging around them. I just adore it.
i’ll unfold before you (WIP, J/B, rated E, 9258 words so far) - PAINTER!JAIME. QUASI-REGENCY PAINTER JAIME. This one holds a special place in my heart because, well, painter!Jaime and a fiercely stubborn pugilistic Brienne, but also because I answered Hannah’s open request for a backup beta one night in an attempt to aggressively make her my friend and it totally worked. MUAHAHA. Anyway, the premise of this is genius--Brienne’s unwanted betrothed Connington has commissioned starving-artist-because-of-reasons Jaime Hill to paint a portrait of her, and she asks Jaime to make her look as unappealing as possible in it, and that works out pretty much as well as you would expect. Jaime and Brienne truly seeing each other is something I never get tired of, and the way Jaime, with his artistic eye, sees Brienne in this fic is just devastating on every level. Brienne also finds it very inspirational, and the results are extremely hot and extremely romantic. This is a WIP but I also have it on good authority that we have divan shenanigans and possibly some under-Brienne’s-dress action in our future, so best to get caught up now and then attempt to prepare yourself for what’s coming next (j/k you can’t).
because i know no other way (J/B, rated T, 1454 words) - A short and sweet high school AU Valentine’s Day fic where Jaime works adorably hard to express his affection for his girlfriend Brienne in the ways he thinks she’d most like it expressed. Characters making the effort to speak each other’s love languages is one of my bulletproof kinks, and this is just so fucking delightful and hilarious and also includes Jaime informing her that he’s “almost problematically hard ninety percent of the time,” which is an amazing line. SO ADORABLE, just a quick little shot of endorphins, like a really good piece of chocolate.
my heart is holding on to you (WIP, J/B, rated T, 21830 words so far) - This is also a WIP and I love it so much. A post-canon setup where Brienne and Jaime have gone their separate ways and then he comes back to visit her on Tarth after she’s been married, had children, and been widowed. I absolutely adore the delicate way this is handled, the way we get both the echo of their former intimacy and the awareness that they’re not the same people now that they were then. They have to reckon with their old hurts and mistakes and get to know each other again, and re-learn how to be friends (and, of course, hopefully lovers too) while still discovering new things about themselves, too. It’s all very achy and sweet and deft and romantic as fuck, and their sloooooow (perfectly, thoughtfully slow) progression back toward each other is just a;lskdjfa;lsgjka;slgja PUT YOUR MOUTHS ON EACH OTHER’S MOUTHS BUT ALSO I’M LOVING THIS JOURNEY FOR BOTH OF YOU. I also really love how they’re both such individuals in this; they’re perfectly capable of going on without each other, they’re just slowly realizing that they really don’t want to, which is another one of my bulletproof kinks, and re-reading this to write up this rec has me all in my feelings again. JUST READ IT IT’S VERY GOOD.
a helping hand (J/B, rated M, 2011 words) and make me wanna drop (J/A/B, rated E, 1804 words) - BROJOBS. I LOVE THIS ‘VERSE SO MUCH. Jaime is such a hot bisexual disaster in this, and I love a Brienne who knows what she likes even if she’s still a little uncertain about doing it with a friend, and the juxtaposition of casual(-yet-also-not) and scorching hot here is just... WHEW. The first fic involves Jaime and Brienne watching each other jerk off (ALWAYS GOOD) and then the second one involves Jaime and Addam competing to see which of them is better at eating Brienne out (ALSO EXTREMELY GOOD). It also includes this immortal observation: If Jaime is a human golden retriever (over the top, enthusiastic and eager to please), then Addam is a cat (cool, calm, and exceedingly disinterested in anyone’s approval). I CANNOT GET OVER HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT DESCRIPTION, and it’s in my mind every time I read a J/A/B fic. Sooooooo fucking good. There’s also a J/A/B tender spitroast that may or may not be in the same ‘verse, I don’t know for sure, but either way it’s lovely and hot as fuck and you should read it.
So those are my Hannah’s Birthday Recs! As I said, not remotely a comprehensive list; what a gift to have her talents in this fandom. I could also say things about how she is hilarious and charming and kind and smart and sharp and excellently bitey in the service of good causes, but I don’t want to embarrass her, so I will just say: happy birthday, Hannah! I love you, you asshole, and I’m so glad we’re friends, and I sincerely hope this year treats you infinitely better than the last one did. (And if at any point you want a fic from me, consider this an IOU.) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Archenemies - Part I
Disclaimer: partially inspired by Supercorp and the very enjoyable facets of their dynamic. Hope you enjoy.
Commotions are always a good indicator of such happenings.
The first eyes on the scene are of course those of curious and surprised bystanders. Rarely does such an event be broadcast in advance. It's happened before, of course. Only a handful of times, however. It means the evildoers are confident in their plan and seek attention, two very bad news for any respectable super. The last time it's been the case, panic managed to erupt, only quelled by the competent authorities with some effort. Some joker tried to replicate the one before last, he's apprehended after barely an hour of shenanigans and threats, each more unbelievable than the last. What he tried to emulate, however, remains scarred deep in the minds of many. Blood and ashes flowing on the grass of the Magnus Arena in the city center on a crisp summer day, and the center itself drowned in cries of pain and terror. On that tragic day, SkullB makes the decision to invest in the services of both Mister Mind and LaValette, two of the most intelligent and cunning cons out there. One hundred and eighty six people die, each one in a slow and far too well documented way. Three pros are amongst them; experienced supers, yet they fall prey to SkullB's devious plans. Dame Seven, Verustoski, husband and wife in the business since the late 70s, and Sunny Sin, a young yet very capable teenage wiz, give their lives in exchange for SkullB's.
Mind and LaValette are, of course, smart enough to see themselves out once it turns in their disfavour, almost as if they see it coming. The former is caught a few days later, splurging on an online casino in his own underground mansion, while the latter still eludes the authorities to this day, taunting both pros and cons in an odd twist of fate. They realize the whole affair is getting far too out of hand, and some even speculate one of them (or both) to consort with the authorities to create the distraction that allows to bring out most of the hostages and to take down SkullB. That stems from irregularities in the chronology of the event and the fact that LaValette apparently decides to own up to her actions after that day. Not completely mind you, but enough to make a difference with a surprisingly efficient foil to many a plan, good or bad. Over the next few years it's apparent she's taken upon herself to remove supers altogether. Not in a definitively violent way, shockingly, but using her agile mind to dismantle actions undertaken to a significant risk to the city and its people. Dynopolis grows less weary and more peaceful due to that. It lasts a sufficient while for her to gain a strange and ambivalent status of anti-hero - chaotic good, as many surmise, in similar leagues to that of the legendary Crime Man himself, some add.
That changes over time as more and more supers, heroes and villains alike, manage either in their smarts, numbers, or luck, to pull and tug at the seams and reveal the cracks in her masterplan. What it loses in her ability, however, the city gains in balance. Many new pro upstarts join the ranks of a newly reformed agency, trying to attain both glory and riches, and to "do the people of this city some good". It's obviously been mirrored by the rise in organized and supercharged crime. That tendency is there from the beginning, structured even before the pros are themselves. It naturally evolves with the times and the influence of one changes the other. Not that they necessarily know - she doesn't care much for one or the other - but she naturally leans into that tendency. If one wants to make a difference by playing the game, one has to remove themself sufficiently from the board, and that she does in a surreptitiously efficient manner.
The second factor which sees to an apparent decline in her efficiency had been more subtle and more specific (although she would argue that it's not so much a decline rather than a shift of focus). It baffles a number and is the joyous guilty pleasure of some others, more observant or perhaps more versed in theorizing. It's fairly unnoticeable at first, by the audience as well as by those involved. The powerful blonde enters the scene unnamed and unknown, and almost by coincidence - officially "on a whim". A small incident takes place in the southern branch of Nat·Bank, devolving into a chaotic chase over land and sea. A simple passerby at the time, the greenhorn not-hero (yet) jumps to action, pursuing the robbers onto the beach and into the coastal waters once they reach their means of escape. Perhaps it's her gallant effort in taking them down despite their ion guns and reinforced armours, bringing the boat back to shore single handedly. Quite literally at that: she emerges on the warm sand pulling the swift vessel behind her, dragging it to the middle of the beach for the authorities to arrest the now baffled culprits. Many onlookers capture and immortalize this moment, making her drenched fit form into an object of many speculations for weeks to come. Her identity somehow remains unknown behind a hasty yet well-placed mask of cloth and nothing is made of it despite extensive research and avid requests on all fronts.
...
Dantra reveals herself almost two months later, to the day, new protegee of sorceress Saralis and a fresh recruit of the H.E.R.O. program - revamped by a retired Dynaman and funded by the Ministry of Defense to raise and promote fresh blood to the side of justice. She's expected to tour the studios and is breathed to be the new mascot of the agency; yet, despite all her efficiency and achievements on the field, she remains as elusive as on the day of her appearance on the chaotic stage. Her speculated concealed beauty adds to her engaging demeanor during her interventions, on top of her flashy yet efficient use of her power. Her flawless track record, only highlighted by her immediate appeal following her first and only late night show appearance, made her an almost instantaneous star, rising fast into the pantheon of revered supers. Some wait for her eventual demise, criticizing her close interactions with fans during downtime and her refusal at revealing too much about herself, theorizing many reasons, each stranger and more somber than the last. Yet it does not happen. She assimilates into the lifestyle flawlessly and durably, it seems. Perhaps too flawlessly for some. Not exactly dwindling, her popularity somewhat reaches a peak over the first year and a half during which she becomes active.
If she's anything, Dantra is not discontent. She takes it in stride, making the most of her situation, to the greatest pleasure of her enduring fans. If she's to plummet, she will, not that it will stop her from doing what was right as long as she was able to. Or so she tells the young reporter who manages to get the first interview in months. And she does, standing as a proud beacon of righteousness and letting life take its course as she does all that is possible to protect and help. This despite the insistence by the agency that she capitalize on her success. She does not yield, however, and accepts that interview on their recommendation only to clear some misconceptions that seem to have arisen over time. No she does not wear a cape and does not plan to as it would hinder her movements. Yes, that piece of white cloth she wears over her face is a replica of the original one, it's been retailored and enchanted by Saralis herself to not be easily removed. Oh she doesn't know if one could say 'superstar', she is proud to make a difference however. Definitely M'Persent, she's been amazed at their display of precision in the way they used their telekinetic powers, since her youngest age. That's excluding Saralis, of course! *laugh* Boreastre, perhaps, on one of his bad days and on her good, then again she has to respect the old man's resilience so, who knew… he is the only con to ever elude the great Dame Seven in his hayday, so that has to count for something. None of the above; the money is enough, the benefits are great, and the ability to use her powers as she does is compensation enough. Because it's right, that's why, and perhaps also a bit in honor of her grandfather, a war hero who she's always admired. Oh…! Uh, yeah, many. So many. Too many. *laugh* But no, never, actually. Sadly. She never has the time or the space, she guesses, or perhaps she's not been looking well enough. One day, perhaps, in her old age, in one of those quiet suburbs, with a dog and a small garden with flowers… That's a new one, never been asked that before, yeah, uhm, if she had to say, perhaps no sea, not that she doesn't like it, she loves the sea, but forests always seem more beautiful, intriguing, and without any tree how is anyone to breathe? *laugh* No, thank you for inviting me, it was great! Oh, yeah! Uh, stay safe and do good, folks. Until next time. *wink*
Some questions she does not answer or shifts the subject, but all in good sport. The interviewer doesn't seem too annoyed by it, more understanding than anything. They're even genuinely excited when she offers a quick demonstration, squealing when she does her trick with the water. Neither do the executives at the agency, they even congratulate her on its good value. She feels good after that, can't say no to fun. She returns to her usual routine without barely missing a beat, if only slightly more discreetly, satisfied for days and unwilling to engage in too much outgoingness at once. That seems to be her prefered rhythm: appearing sparsely on occasions unrelated to crime fighting yet always with panashe and with good reason. Time passes and finally she knows: her secret is safe. Tucked away behind the thin layers of her mask and her gentle charm. There are a number of reasons why Dantra refuses to unveil too much of herself, be it to her fans, enemies, or even her colleagues. She is young but has enough knowledge of the ways of the world, especially online, to wish to be careful about what she exposes of herself. She enjoys the attention yet wants nothing of it once the mask is down, relishing the quiet moments in her cozy house near the waterfront and the edge of the city. The most important reason, the vital one, is not because of a loved one - she's been alone for as long as she could remember - nor because of her job - the agency pays well enough, and a side gig as a commission photographer allows her to pass the time. No, her deepest, darkest secret is entirely other: she does not trust herself to look quite right, to pass well enough among them. She never has. Not before, nor since her arrival and her… change of style. Her face has always felt too angular, too sharp and harsh, underlying the softness that sugar-coats it. Okay, maybe it is stupid to hide such a thing, what with aliens and wizards and so many kinds of secret and supernatural entities buzzing about. Especially considering she is in fact time-displaced herself. But she's a private person and her doubts never quite leave her, neither with nor without the mask. Especially not without. And that's something she wants to keep to herself as long as possible, if not mostly because it would show the cracks in her heroic persona.
One second she's living her perfectly normal if only slightly different life in the wilderness, and the next she finds herself surrounded by stone and metal and sound. So much noise. She fled the great fortified city of her birth for that exact reason, the smells and bustling activity making her prefer the quiet of nature. It's scary, so very scary, at first. Frustrating too, new words to assimilate, new people to remember. Many people. Too many. Tastes and colours as vibrant and foreign as they were interesting. It should be more difficult, more off-putting, it should be a lot weirder and far slower to adapt to this new life that she's quite literally thrown into. She knows that. But somehow, either she's better at adapting than she believes, or the strange shrieking and smelly hole she's been dragged through - she later learns it's all that ozone - has been kind enough to gift her with an augmentation in her abilities. She can't say. Assimilating information has always been easy for her, computing it, on the other hand, takes a bit more time, but she manages well enough and that's a start.
No one knows any of that, not the agency, not her colleagues, not even her best friend Zelda knew of it, and if she has any say in the matter, none would ever know.
…
Later on she realizes their first meeting is not their first. It's not even the first time they actually interact, simply exchanging a look as she disappears into her surroundings while the hero goes the other way in hot pursuit of her own target. They cross paths before, at least twice, always en passant and never out in the open, none recognizing the other. How Valerie Vonazzio misses and is missed so thoroughly becomes one of the many subjects of scoffs and giggles, somehow playing the absolute opposite of their actual first interaction.
How it goes from a simple meddling in a high stakes robbery to a double hostage situation with innocent people in the crossfire she would say is entirely the annoyingly boot-straight bulldozer of a newcomer's fault. He's the one who barges into her delicately masterminded play's fault. They simply have to open the safe, take the money - in truth a pile of fake yet highly realistic 'the artist formerly known as Prince' bills she planted there earlier - and attempt a getaway. No violence needed, no casualties, and she can pocket the money for herself. Not that those to whom it belongs would miss it, even if the amount were to be doubled. And everything seems to work perfectly at first, that is until that idiot of a C-list super Faramour and his disgustingly felty suit gets stuck in one of her countermeasures and calls for backup. The channels should be jammed, they are jammed, and yet, somehow, she hears. Dantra enters all guns blazing - not literally though, she bears no weapons. Praised be that fact or things would go downhill much earlier for the great LaValette. She has no guns, none made of metal at least. It does not prevent her from bursting in, plowing half the group against the wall and intimidating the others sufficiently for them to lose their cool. Having taken two hostages, threatening to do some actual damage if 'superblondie' refuses to cooperate. She doesn't, to Valerie's relief, but she's the smarter of the two, after all. By far. Faramour, on the other hand, does not do the smart thing. Barely liberated from his restraints, he takes one of the robbers in return and immediately escalates the situation. How it hasn't gone to shit quicker with that horrid perfume of his, Valerie will never understand. Deadly weapons are pointed in every direction and a single movement might set the whole thing on fire.
That minty, hair-waxed bumblefuck of a super doesn't even try to use his lonely brain cell, it seems, choosing to ignore Dantra's warnings AND the robbers' threats, yelling louder than either for everybody to shut up, get on the ground and put their weapons down. Despite the fun she'd had recording his disheveled meltdown and against all her principles, she intervenes then. Showing herself in broad daylight for the first time in months, perhaps years. Well, as best as one can through a thick field of smoke and behind a specialized retailored special ops suit. While they're all distracted, she takes Faramour out, stunning him into oblivion and then twice more for good measure with simple yet efficient darts of a sleep agent of her own personal concoction. The robbers are easy too: make them think they have a way out and leave the appeal of the money, and the next second they're running. Dantra is another story. She thinks of lacing the smoke with a sleeping agent but doesn't want to hurt innocent bystanders - she has principles, or at least she's tried to grow some - and instead deploys a simple spot-sonic. The small device works as a grenade and is used to stun anybody of above average physique - group which she instantly guesses Dantra is a part of - and gives her an opening of a few seconds to make a getaway. Hers has been ready for hours now, but as she rounds the building and her car she hears the voice behind her, ordering her to stop.
Dantra is coming around the corner too, armed with a surprising two unconscious robbers, one in each hand. Fortunately she's decided to go stealthy this time, wearing unmarked gear and a simple black gas mask. The lack of recognition she gets from the super means that either she does not know her face, which for the agency's poster girl is highly unlikely as the agency must have drilled her on the many cons they were tracking, LaValette still being high priority. Or that she has no way of seeing through her mask, past her eyes, which is lucky as it has definitely not been designed with x-ray vision in mind. She looks at the blonde for a second too long, perhaps, and her mind is made: she has to play this one well.
"Why? You gonna arrest me?"
"As a matter of fact no, but the police will once they get here."
"Ha. Apologies darlin', I have no time to wait for them. Things to do, places to be," she replies, her tone as cocky as possible.
"You have nowhere to go. I'll catch you if you try to run…"
"Maybe. But I don't intend to run," she jiggles the keys in her hands.
She sees the frown form on Dantra's face through the cloth, a cute set of lines creasing around and above her brow. The super lets the robbers fall to the ground and takes a step forward, then another. Good, just a few more seconds.
"I'm fast."
"Strong too, I guess."
That stops her.
"You're too confident."
"Mayhaps. But so are you, I believe."
"I have the means to back my words up, do you?"
If the very slight flex of her hands and her taut muscles is any indication, the hero does indeed, and she's ready to show it at any moment. Perfect.
"I don't doubt that. But see," and she takes a small step to the left, Dantra mirrors it to the right, "my ride is waiting and they don't have a policy of canceling last minute, so I'm afraid I won't be able to take you up on that."
"The choice isn't really offered."
"It is though, and I'm certainly not letting a muscle-brained blondie tell me what to do."
That gets her a frown. Good. Let her stew a bit.
"You're not part of them."
Oh, surprising. Not all brawns, then.
"You noticed."
"I'm more than just muscles."
"I can appreciate that."
And she winks for good measure. The slight abashed surprise which momentarily coats the frown is worth it.
"You'll be happy to know I'm not all ass either, darlin'."
And with the image of a vague incomprehension mixed with outrage, she presses the ignition button. The car beside her roars to life and then everything is gone, swallowed in the bright neon light of the headlights and the piercing shriek of the alarm. That's enough to make Dantra recoil; by the time the super focuses again, she's long gone. Not very far away, but out of reach.
…
The second time they cross paths it's more official and perhaps she isn't as prepared for it as she's like to make them all think. There's a joint operation by the newly formed Hexagon, a trio of wrongdoers comprised of Miss Spell, Shore Thing, and Sasz, who apparently decide to carry out plans as horrid as their individual designation. How people, supers mostly, come up with such ridiculous names for themselves is something she'll never quite understand. It does help motivate her to foil their plan without pulling any punches, however. Which is a good thing, she thinks. They try to steal one of the prototypes in development at Atomic Delaware Industries, some sort of energy cell that could either be sold to competitors or foreign powers for quite a pile of cash, or be used in not so nice ways by someone smart enough. She certainly would find a few uses for it, she has, actually, without trying too much, even. But that's not the plan, it hasn't been for quite a while. They've been on her radar for the last month and, unfortunately for them, a whole month is entirely superfluous if one were to want to rig the whole operation. Which she does.
The traps fly and spring, doors jam, electric circuits fry and, strangely, the alarm resounds the minute they're deep in the vault despite all their attempts at quelling its shrill signal to the whole of the city police force before they break in. The panic but not so much as would other newer and less competent cons. The prototype is loaded in a rush as they manage to evade the first wave of security. It's jostles a bit - quite a bit - as they come out into the night. Whether it'll still work after that is anyone's guess, although she has an inkling as to the answer. It's but almost entirely confirmed when the crack resounds a few meters in front of them and Dantra appears, making them drop the cart onto the ground and letting the round object roll away. The trio tenses slightly, knowing they have the advantage, but Dantra shows no sign of faltering. The fight that ensues is what makes Valerie act upon her growing frustration: had she let them exit the perimeter they'd have been caught in her electromagnetic web until the police arrived. But of course the hero has to meddle in her affairs. She almost doesn't swarm all four of them with slime ice, a new project she's been working on for a while, trapping anything it touches almost instantaneously (super or not) and with enough efficacy it would work on Dynamos and his high speed vibrating or Saralis and her plane shifting. At least long enough for her to escape. Almost, because as she's about to think better of it, something barely misses the prototype. It's either a hex or an exploding scale, she can't really tell, but she knows that if it hits, they might not be there to argue whodunnit afterwards. To hell with being subtle, she doesn't want to die yet, and there are people in danger of being fried by the foursome's stupidity.
"Oy, nitwits!", she exclaims, stepping out of the dark black sedan she'd taken shop in.
They seem surprised to see her, enough to almost all freeze on the spot. Only Sasz seems not to lose any of his countenance - his cerebral implant must help, she thinks - which is a good thing because they don't immediately notice the small flattened cones that thud in the middle of them.
"What the fu-", she can hear Miss Spell attempt.
"Stop clonking so close to the prototype. Or do you want to raze this whole area to below sea level?!", she adds, seeing Dantra's eyes narrow.
"LaValette," Sasz simply says, still unperturbed. Not that he seems quite anything in the recent months since his upgrade. "How very pleasant." Well at least he's kept his tongue.
Miss Spell opens her mouth again but stays silent, still she can see her violet eyes widen slightly; Shore Thing doesn't react, simply getting ready to fight her too. She sees the flicker of recognition on Dantra's face, however. She wonders for an instant if she should have worn a mask but finds she is almost glad - a small prickle of pride even runs through her spine at the validation of her still very-well known status.
"Stop where you are," she hears the blonde's voice command.
"Oh don't worry, I don't plan on joining in the fight," she smirks, "I'm not made for that."
She lets a beat pass and sees them stew in their uncertainty. No more than a beat, however, or they'll have time to react.
"Plus I don't need to," her smirk widdens as she nods to the ground at their feet.
They look. Sasz and Dantra are the first to react but it's still too late. The cones explode into a storm of white and suddenly all four of them are covered in a thick layer of foamy substance. She has to give props to Dantra for attempting to jump away, but the slime ice hardens too quickly and she's frozen on one foot, her body angled back. They almost instantly begin to slump too, even Shore Thing's weird biology doesn't stop him from feeling the effects of the sedative. It won't take them out, she knows it, but it'll do for a while. She can already hear Miss Spell mumble curses under her breath, it would be cute if it weren't literal curses on top of her insults. She hurries her step, not wanting to overextend her advantage.
"Not that I don't find this fun but I can't trust you people with this," she grabs the prototype, "so I'll be removing your new toy from the playground until you learn how to share properly."
Without further ado she walks back to her car.
"Wait," she hears Dantra's slurred voice.
But she doesn't no matter the slight desire to play with them a bit longer. She knows if she does she'll lose her advantage quickly.
"Sorry darlin', can't stay. Have a nice night!", she smiles as she passes by them before rolling her window up and driving away.
Her exit goes unchallenged, none of the police notice the black vehicule hidden behind the bushes as they quickly drive by a few seconds later. The next day she confirms her slime ice was indeed efficient, more than she had banked on even, as she sees Sasz and Shore Thing still partially trapped in by the time the news channels are on the scene. Apparently Miss Spell managed to phase herself away in the nick of time, escaping right as the authorities arrived, Dantra taking only a few moments longer. She can't help the amused smile at the sight of the fit blonde going away as quickly as she can once the situation has been explained to the police, surely in search of her. The super doesn't succeed of course, as her being in her penthouse at that precise moment indicates. The morning is nice, warm with blue skies. She contemplates letting Dynopolis and its officials sweat it a few days more under the threat of her possessing the prototype, but decides against it. She's a tease, not an actual madwoman. The stolen property is found two days later in Hubway Park, in a glass box with a cute little ribbon on top of it and a card that says "Love, LV" in elegant cursive. And if the city's pockets are slightly lighter after that, well, it's not her secret to tell.
...
They meet again twice before it truly becomes a sort of routine between them. Not that she actively makes it that way. It just seems they can't stop themselves from running into each other. Maybe it's because LaValette's officially made an appearance after all this time, in front of no less than four supers, three of them being cons is of no consequence. Maybe she can't quite stop herself from being on high alert every time she goes on patrol, looking for the lithe dark woman in every corner each time she's called onto a scene or she is made aware of some nefarious happenings. The fact that Dantra is seen a lot more than usual out there does not go by unnoticed and many speculate as to why. The answer is simple: she's been bested thrice and she can't quite let it go. The smirk and the confidently teasing tone of a superior mind still ring in her ears. She's never been one to be very competitive, not seriously so to the point of letting it consume her rather laidback nature. But the villain has a way of getting under her skin. The con times her quips like the beats of a good song, like strums of chords during a guitar solo, settles her silver eyes so steadily that she can't help the shiver of anticipation at the challenge she knows is coming. The first time it's just a fluke, she doesn't realize she's facing the great LaValette herself, not even that she 's in the same realm as her for a while. The second time she gets the message but slightly too late. The result is positive in the end, not satisfactory however. It does have the unintended effect of giving her a purpose. She knows she can't force destiny, doesn't quite believe in it either, but it feels like something the third time they meet. She wants to be there because she knows what's coming. Or at least she knows LaValette will grace them with her presence. She loses her after a frustratingly slow chase amongst corridors and stairs in the tall building where the villain comes to meddle with an intervention the squad puts in place to nip the bud of a growing cult.
The thing doesn't go as well as planned. The cult is too prepared, as if they know what's coming. They manage to get them taken down before any blood is shed, however, which is a good thing. Until she realizes the ease with which it has been done and the glaring disappearance of a number of useless but golden artifacts the cultists had been in the process of using for their sacrifice. She realizes immediately what's afoot, perhaps a bit too quickly if she trusts the bewildered looks she gets from her partners. She spots the suit far too quickly too. She's nothing if not thorough and she's made her research on the older villain turned chaotic vigilante. Her style has changed slightly, moving on from spandex and leather to a more comfortable fabric oriented design. Still black, still badass and cool - she can't help but admire - and still kicking ass without actually doing any of the kicking herself. But as she's about to reach her, LaValette lets her know she's noticed her with a small turn of the head and a wink as she moves to the staircase. The resulting chase happens in a place too constricting for her, which she hates, and amongst a crowd of people who have no business being as productive as they are on a Monday. Still she follows as best as she can, careful not to damage anything. Unfortunately it's not enough and she knows it when the villain slips away one last time, dropping in an elevator shaft this time, and she's unable to follow. Not that she'd fear the fall or hurting herself (her body can withstand much more and quite literally fly, after all) but because she realizes she's been tricked when the shaft turns out to be a screen and she finds herself flailing not to walk off the seventeenth story. How the frustratingly smart woman managed to do that she doesn't know but she knows she's lost her. Despite it all, and while she does a round of the floor just to be sure, she can't help but be impressed. LaValette has never shown any other sign of outstanding abilities than her impressive intellect and for once she's glad it's the case, just imagining that coupled with any supernatural ability almost makes her shiver.
Their fourth meeting is the one in which she feels her work finally begin to pay off. She's been scouring every file, report and analysis she can find, all the footage available for clues as to what counter-measures she could try to put in place against LaValette for weeks. The incident at Magnus Arena makes her both angry, wanting to catch the woman as soon as possible and make her answer for her crimes, but also realize how much the villain has actually shifted her line of conduct since then. She doesn't quite know how others have not measured the impact of her actions since then, both to annoy supers of the program and to mitigate the destructive power of cons. There's no proof, no evidence, but she can read between the lines, feel the depression in the landscape of her crimes, and see the shadow the villain leaves behind her in each misdeed that goes a little bit too smoothly for the heroes or which seems to fail or combust in the air for the cons. How nobody has never noticed that is beyond her. Perhaps the long arms of LaValette extend even within the agency? Or perhaps someone else has been trying to keep the status quo?
It's a bit of a paradox. She gains newfound respect for the woman but at the same time the neverending list of accomplishments - which she seems to silently gloat about every time - makes her blood boil and gives her renewed determination to catch her.
So when she manages to corner her in the back alley of the store as she's about to flee on an unmarked bike, and she sees the brow quirk up in surprise as she halts mid climb, well she can't help herself and smirks.
"Well good evening to you," LaValette says, resuming her action and strapping the large duffel bag containing various pricy items to her bike, pricy items that the organized but not very professional group of masked individuals attempted to rob - are robbing? have robbed? - and will realize are missing from their own possession the next day.
"I would return the greeting but you're coming with me this time, and it will unfortunately not be 'good'," she quips back, hand on her hip.
LaValette has been calmly setting up her gear, putting on a pair of gloves and a scarf, zipping up her jacket, action following which she seemed to notice the quick glance, her smile widening ever so slightly.
"Not that the offer is not tempting, I'd love to stay but-"
"Stuff to do, places to be?", she cuts in.
The villain smiles wider still, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"Exactly."
"Well, sorry to burst your bubble but I can't let you do that. You being a criminal and me being a hero, and all."
That earns her a chuckle. There's a pause, the woman makes a grab for her helmet, still showing no sign of a rush or any kind of panic at all. This is what makes Dantra start to question her standing in this exchange. She has a way of getting her nerves to flare. It seems the woman notices, her head shifts slightly to the side. Could she read minds? Or was she just that smart? Dantra realizes she might just be that smart
"Oh I know. And I can assure you I'm very flattered by your attention, but should you really be leaving those idiots alone?"
She follows the finger, it points at the store and suddenly, as if on cue she hears an explosion and sees bright flames erupt from the roof. The door she'd passed through moments earlier flies off its hinges and crashes against her, denting itself around her shape.
"What the-" she begins when she hears the engine rev.
Suddenly she's jumping to action, she lets her flight boom her through the alley and can feel the fleeing motorcycle revving its gears enter the grasp of her outstretched hand. Yet before she can do anything she hears a bump and her legs are once again cast in that annoying white substance, not only does it harden, it also latches onto the ground and she's faceplanting before she knows it. That much isn't enough to slow her down too much, and she's up the next second, grunting as she breaks through the foam - the countermeasure is one of raw power but it works, so, who's to judge. But as she's about to engage in pursuit again, masked individuals come pouring through the now destroyed exit and for a moment she's stunned. Why weren't they- It's then that she hears the shrill voice she's learned to dislike with every fiber of her body. Freaking Faramour…!
Only later, as they've rounded up the criminals that tried their best to escape and the police are there to take them into custody does she register the memory. It's seemingly jogged by none other than the felty cretin himself.
"Nice work, blondie!", he exclaims with a thumbs up.
Perhaps it's genuine, perhaps it's just playing it up for the cameras, she doesn't know, doesn't care much for it either. She's let her target escape once again. By the time she'd taken care of the robbers, barely a minute, and was soaring in the sky to try to locate the motorcycle, it had vanished once again. The criminals had given her restraints - a good measure of fence wire - a run for its money, already almost escaping by the time she came back down and she'd had to secure them once more. Then she'd taken measure of the whole situation: a blown up store, a bumbling super idiot trying to take over the situation and a disappeared LaValette. Then the police arrive, then the journalists, almost in sync. Then there's the report, which Faramour takes into stride despite his less than useful participation, and nobody seems to have noticed LaValette's presence. She'd been this close, so close… She tries to wallow a bit in her corner but even that is made difficult when Faramour comes all smiles to congratulate her. She had to at least nod and smile, she may be one of the most prominent faces of the agency - and miles more efficient than him - he had anteriority and some form of mind-boggling respect in the city. But his words trigger the flash of memory.
"Nice try, blondie!"
Almost the same words but a much, much different tone. Sultry and smooth, teasing as usual. With a smile and a wave of the hand as she rounded the corner, spoken in a voice loud enough for her to hear. The frustration is so much that she almost lets out a huff before she takes off to do her report at headquarters. It's only when she's done and gone home that she realizes she was close, much closer than usual. Next time. Definitely next time.
And next time comes. Much sooner than she'd expected. Barely a week later, in the middle of the afternoon. This time it's utter chaos. Three events strike at the same time. Havenleaf institute, the prison that houses many cons, is taken by Miss Spell and what can only be described as strawmen goons which she surel animated. Apparently an attempt to break out Shore Thing and Sasz. Nat·Bank is in the middle of a robbery orchestrated by the BronzeBronze cartel. And the head office of the Police is being hacked. The bank and the prison are already taken care of, Grace Solace and Mesmeride are on the case with their respective sidekicks she hears in the coms, and the police should be able to deal with whatever genius has decided to try his hand. She's met the ITeam and they know what they're doing. Still, she can't help but feel something is off. The coincidence is great, almost too great. So she goes anyway.
Everything is hectic. Power is going out repeatedly, the whole electrical infrastructure seems to be under attack. Which is weird, Rajan and Sam explain. They've made sure the whole network was secure and entirely closed off. She knows it is, she's seen Sasz try his hand at it and groaning in frustration. So whatever whoever is here wants, it's not in the database. The chaos feels too orchestrated. Like a danger looming around the corner and forcing you into panic mode but never making an appearance. She knows this feeling and that's what propels her into the stairs, down to the third basement and the writ archives. She struggles in the dark silence for a while, only nearly jumping when she hears clattering towards the deep end. The ever-knowing smile that usually welcomes her is only ever so slightly assured this time, only ever so slightly weaker, and she knows she's struck a chord.
"Wasn't expecting you so soon, darlin'", the voice drawls as the woman has the gal to look away, back to the files she's been searching through.
"Were you even expecting me?"
Her tone is light but it seems to land once again, from the slight tensing of the shoulders.
"Honestly? Not really. I hoped to have at least an hour uninterrupted, but it seems I got unlucky…"
She can't help the small satisfied scoff. She can't help the spark of curiosity either.
"What are you looking for, LaValette?"
The dark woman looks up, surprise passing through her steel eyes.
"Nothing much. Compromising pictures from college, maybe?", she chuckles. "What tipped your off, Dantra?", she returns.
Dantra knows she's curious but fakes disinterest. Somehow she knows. So she plays on it. She also can't help but lose some focus to the way her name rolls out of LaValette's mouth, soft and playful.
"I got lucky I guess. I had a hunch."
"A hunch?", a quirk of the eyebrow.
Now she was looking at her.
"Three at a time is a bit much."
"Ah," a shake of the head. "Maybe so… might have been a bit over enthusiastic on this one."
"You made all this happen?"
She should know better, she's seen the famed LaValette at work more than once, read and watched everything there was about her, but she still feels the wave of surprise at the revelation.
"No, I'm not omnipotent, you know. I may have… pushed the right buttons, however."
The smirk is back.
"Well you're certainly not getting out of this one," she quips back, hands on her hips.
"Are you sure about that?"
And there's that quirk of the eyebrow again. It's assured and confident.
"No."
But she is. And she jumps. As if she was expecting that the dark-haired woman throws the file at her and starts doubling down an alley of files, reaching for something in her bag. Dantra doesn't know what tips the scales in her favour this time. Perhaps she's gotten better with confined spaces, perhaps she's well and truly surprised LaValette, perhaps LaValette fumbles despite (surely) the many plans she has to escape. In any case, she has her pinned against a wall, any tools she might have discarded and her hands trapped within her own barely a minute later, near the emergency exit. They lock eyes and there's a surprised look in the steel discs, something else too, fear maybe? Something etched deeper than she expects, at least. But she doesn't have time to explore that before the other woman sighs and smirks.
"Well, seems it's my loss this time."
And it is. She doesn't resist. Lets herself be taken into custody without as much as an attempt to resist or protest. She takes an espresso when offered and answers each and every question the officers have for her once they begin processing her case. Dantra stays and watches, still unconvinced she's done it. She doesn't know if she believes everything LaValette says, still mulling over what she could have been searching for in the basement of the central police department. They only find a few files pertaining to an old cold case, one of an old woman found dead in her apartment. Nothing special about it, nothing linked to LaValette. Not that they could actually link anything to her. They don't even know who she is, she doesn't register in any database, no history, public or private, no facial recognition pings when they try. She's an anomaly, a dark and mysterious anomaly that keeps on slipping between your fingers even when you've got her. And have her they do. They have her face, her prints, her blood and saliva, hair samples, her voice and her story. Still, much good it does them. They resign themselves to keep her in custody until due process begins again. Dantra is on the go then, ready to leave when they have her secured. The day has been long and the thrill enough to wear her down. She'd been thinned by the last few weeks, her entire focus being on trying to solve the puzzle of the infamous LaValette. And now that it's done she can't quite believe it. They cross paths as the woman is taken to a cell, her usual black suit swapped for a standard grey uniform. It still fits her, she notes. The woman smiles as she notices her.
"Well played, Dantra."
She doesn't know what to do, what to respond to that. The amused twinkle in the woman's eyes another mystery she can't quite solve.
"Until next time?"
It's a question, she registers, as well as a statement. Nobody can keep her in for long, she seems to say, we'll play again soon.
"You're not getting out of this, this time," she manages to reply, throwing in a smile of her own, as confident as she manages.
That owns her a laugh. The sound is throaty and very amused. The wink that follows should unnerve her, so should the unfading smile. It adds fuel to the fire, that's undeniable, though what that fire supplies in turn, she has no idea. She doesn't sleep very well that night, exhaustion and excitement waging an intense battle. Exhaustion wins out in the end and she's rested enough the next morning when she wakes. It takes her the whole of the day to truly recuperate, however. She takes it off, she knows she needs it. Knows that she deserves it a bit too. No one at work is expecting her anyway. Not the bad weather nor Spyro, her cat, defecating on the coffee table manage to bring her mood down, however. The following night is the same as the previous one, a battle of nerves, she manages to go to sleep slightly earlier though. That Sunday morning she is well and truly rested as she wakes up. The weather is nice, Spyro is lounging on the coffee table, no poop in sight, and even the new seem to be good: the robbery has been foiled thanks to Mesmeride, and despite struggling a bit more and not catching Miss Spell, Grace Solace managed to prevent any escapes from the prison. She's coffee in hand, standing on her small terrace, Spyro resting on her shoulders, when she hears her name. It's faint but as she focuses the words become more clear.
"...and this morning, when Officer Wallace came to check on her she was gone. No traces of escape, no footage, nothing. The detectives are hard on the case but admit being somewhat at a loss as to how this was possible."
This definitely piques her interest and she steps inside. There's a still image of the cell with a few words splayed against it in elegant cursive. That's when she understands. Somehow, despite all the security measures in place, LaValette has made good on her words.
Till next time, Darlin', the writing reads.
She knows she should be appalled, she knows she should be stressed, she should be on high alert and perhaps already on route to rectify the situation but she finds herself excited and giddy. A smile plastered on her face when the screen turns black as power is ripped away from it. She's excited because finally, after so long, after so much hard work and dedication, it undeniably feels like she's managed to get her first arch-enemy. Her own personal nemesis.
To be continued.

JV: Childhood Part II
Summary: Her brother was off at college. She had to take care of her siblings. When her schoolwork struggles as a result, she made a friend who only made things more complicated.
Part one here
Author's Note: I actually had this written up already and was supposed to be part of the first half but I somehow wrote too much and Tumblr wouldn't let me post it all at once.
High school took a sharp turn for her.
Without Avi, Jackie was taking care of her siblings more while her parents were at work. She would walk directly from her school when the bell rang to her siblings' schools and then make them a snack when they got home. She was able to start her homework a bit before dinner and she would work some more afterwards to keep up.
There were days where she found herself deeply envious of her classmates. Most of them were involved in clubs after school and sometimes she longed for the normalcy. But that feeling was squelched when she got to school and saw her siblings run up to her with bright eyes and full of love.
She found a deep level of interest in biology and was able to keep up until her junior year when the workload she had in addition to her responsibilities at home began to take a toll on her.
When her parents came home and she wanted to mention something to them about taking less responsibility, she stopped when she saw the weariness in their eyes. She had watched what it was like for them as Indian immigrants who spoke perfect English but with a heavy accent to live in the United States. Sometimes while they were out, the people they interacted would not understand them and she would see her mother hesitate just a fraction of a second and before her mother could turn to her, Jackie would step up.
They had tried for years to open up the store they had back up but after all of the costs, even their combined salary had made it hard to save for what they needed to start it up again.
"We're lucky we have you, beta." Her mother had said with a murmur, smoothing the top of her head.
She would nod and feel the burning of guilt she had of being a normal high school student.
Her grades started slipping and when she saw the C on her math examination, she felt her cheeks burn especially when she noticed that her classmates on either side of her had gotten a B+ and an A-. She suddenly felt like she was an imposter, masquerading as a smart person and that someone was going to come in and kick her out of class at any moment.
"How did you learn how to do those word problems?" Jackie asked the classmate on the left. What was her name again?
"My mom has been helping me. I didn't get them at first and I know most of our classmates have tutors. I can help you after school, if you'd like." She said with a smile.
"I have to take care of my siblings." Jackie said with a grimace.
"Dev and Anika, right? My mom's one of the teachers in the elementary school and Dev was one of her students last year."
She blinked at the girl. How did she know that when this was the first time Jackie had talked to her? "Uhh yeah, I…"
"You don't know my name, do you?" The girl quirked an eyebrow at her. "We've been in classes together since freshman year."
Jackie had the decency to feel embarrassed as she shook her head.
"Alexa Chan." She laughed good naturedly and stuck out her hand. Jackie shook it.
"Jackie Varma."
Alexa gave her a grin. "I know. How about I come home with you and we can work on the homework together?"
-
Her siblings adored Alexa.
The first thing she did when she met them at the school was bend at the knees a little so that she could look them straight in the eye when she shook their hand. Dev's eyes had widened a little and he puffed up his chest as if he was full grown. When Ani asked if she was coming over, Alexa had nodded, telling her that she needed to tell her mom first.
Their eyes had been wide as saucers when they figured out who her mom was.
They had gone to school the next day to tell everyone who would listen that Mrs. Chan's daughter was friends with their sister and she was over at their house.
Her parents liked her as well. She was extended a dinner invitation often and her parents were happy she had found a friend who was smart and capable.
Alexa started coming over twice a week when she didn't have swim practice to help Jackie with math. In return, Jackie helped her memorize her science flashcards.
Alexa wanted to be an engineer, Jackie learned. She was good at math because her mother had taught her how to understand it since she was a kid and she liked looking for patterns. She was an only child so she liked being around her mother's students and around her siblings.
And she was so pretty. Jackie couldn't help but notice her soft her hair looked and how kind and genuine her smile was. Sometimes at night, she had dreams where they were walking down the street, holding hands and no one did a double take when she leaned over and pressed a kiss on Alexa's lips.
She shook her head. Alexa was the only friend she had made in years and she couldn't jeopardize it over a crush.
It wasn't as if she hadn't had crushes before. But she kept her feelings close to her chest, especially when she realized that she might like girls as well. Or prefer girls. The sexuality thing freaked her out because the last thing she needed was for people to stare at her for being Indian and gay.
"Hey, do you want to come watch me swim on Friday? I'm going to be swimming with the varsity team." Alexa said excitedly.
"Yeah, Avi just came home so I can ask him to watch my siblings."
"Ooh yay!" Alexa gave Jackie a hug and pulled back with a horrified expression. "Sorry, I don't think I've ever hugged you before."
Jackie felt her cheeks burning. "We're good."
-
"Avi, I need you to watch Dev and Anika after school on Friday." Jackie said as she got home that day, her two siblings in tow. "My friend is competing in a swim meet."
Avi raised an eyebrow as he looked at her. "You have a friend, behan?"
"Haha." She rolled her eyes. Her brother stared at her before his face broke into a grin.
"You look happy, Jaks." He observed. "Is this friend actually a friend or do you have a paramour, little sister?"
"My friend's name is Alexa." She said, avoiding the subject.
He didn't skip a beat. "She can be your paramour too."
Jackie blinked as she looked at her brother whose face had become very serious.
"I-" She glanced at their siblings who were out of earshot coloring at the table. "I might like her Avi. But she's also the first friend I've made in a long time."
"If you're willing to let her in, then it might be worth exploring."
-
Jackie took a seat in the bleachers, a book perched on her lap and sunglasses on. She could see the girls warming up on the other side of the pool and Alexa grinned and waved when she saw her. She said something to her teammates and walked over her direction and Jackie felt her heart pounding.
"You came! I'm so excited, Coach says I might have a chance at winning first for the butterfly heat." Alexa said brightly. "I'm up against one of the best swimmers, but I've been training hard."
"Good luck." Jackie offered a smile. Alexa offered one in return before heading back to her team.
The swim meet began and Jackie watched as people swam back and forth in the pool. Her eyes were trained to follow Alexa when she swam, the graceful arch of her legs as she jumped off the block and the way her arms moved through the water effortlessly.
Finally, it was time for the event that Alexa was most excited about. As she stepped up to the block, Jackie felt her heart pounding.
"You got this Alexa!" She shouted. Alexa looked up in surprise and smiled back before getting refocused on the pool.
Her opponent pulled ahead of her the first two laps but Jackie noticed she wasn't keeping up the quick pace. Alexa on the other hand had paced herself and was closing ranks. The last lap they were swimming in tandem and as they reached the wall, Alexa pulled slightly ahead and-
"The winner of the heat is Alexa Chan, by 0.02 seconds!"
"Yes!" Jackie shouted in triumph. She ignored the glances she got from the people around her as she ran over to Alexa who threw her arms out for a hug, her eyes bright.
And as Alexa threw her arms around her, without thinking, Jackie pressed her lips against hers. They were soft and she smelled a little like chlorine as she moved her hands to tangle into Alexa's hair-
Jackie didn't notice the stares until she pulled away from Alexa who had a surprised but pleased look on her face. She pulled back and glanced around as people turned and whispered and suddenly, she felt like she was back in 5th grade, introducing herself to her classmates as Jackie Varma.
"Jackie-"
Without giving her a chance to say anything else Jackie turned and fled.
-
She threw herself into her bedroom, rushing past Avi as she reached home. She ignored him calling her name and she threw herself into her bed facedown.
There was a knock on the door.
"Go away."
"Jaks, your friend Alexa called my phone and wants to speak to you."
"I'm not here."
There was a moment of hesitation before Avi said something Jackie couldn't quite make out.
"Okay, I told her you would call later. Can I come in now?"
"Fine." She said muffled into her pillows.
Her brother opened the door.
"What happened?" He asked, leaning against the doorframe.
"Nothing you would understand."
"Behan, I think I of all people would understand."
"No, you won't! You don't live at home anymore, Ani! You don't know what I'm going through and it's easy when you don't have to be around people who know and judge you anymore!"
A terse silence passed. "Do you hate me for leaving? I had to. You'll understand one day. I don't know what you're going through with your friend Alexa, but-"
"I don't want to talk about it! I'm already stared at because we're Indian and I kept my head down through that. I want people to stop staring at me and why can't I just be normal?"
Her voice broke on a sob. Avi sighed and walked over to put a hand on her head.
"Jackie…"
"Don't touch me!" Jackie jumped back and glared at her brother. "Just leave! You're going back to school soon anyways, just- go."
-
She kept her head down for the next few days. Avi had gone back to school and things were sort of back to normal. Alexa had tried to talk to her during class, find her at lunch and after school but Jackie had just stayed silent, staring at the board until Alexa had given up.
Jackie sighed. She missed her best friend but already there were rumors going around the school. They were nosy and Jackie wanted them out of her face.
"You've been avoiding me." Jackie had opened the door to see Alexa standing in front later that day. "Can we talk?"
"Shouldn't you be at swim practice?"
"So you can try to avoid me again? I knew you were keeping track of my schedule. I skipped it. I figured this was kinda important."
"Alexa!" Dev said excitedly when he heard her voice. He moved past Jackie to grab her hand and pull her into the kitchen. "I made a drawing of you and sissy."
Her mouth twitched as she saw the colored drawing. She held it up and Jackie saw two girls, holding hands. Jackie felt her chest tighten.
"Why are they holding hands, Dev?" Jackie choked out.
"They're best friends and they love each other." He said as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.
"I-"
"Dev, can you take Ani to the backyard for a bit so your sister and I can talk?" Alexa said softly. "Thank you for the drawing."
He nodded and took Ani outside. When the door closed, she turned back to Jackie.
"Alexa, when I kissed you…" Jackie stammered.
"I wasn't expecting it." Alexa interrupted with a smile. "But I didn't not like it. But you just ran off before I could say anything."
Jackie stared at the girl in front of her.
"I do like you." Alexa said with a shrug. "I don't know what my sexuality is. Still figuring that out. But I do know that you're smart and pretty and my best friend. And I liked kissing you."
"People saw me kiss you." Jackie's face paled.
"Let them talk."
"How are you so casual about this?" Jackie said weakly. "People are going to stare at us. It'll be just like when I was in 5th grade-"
"Jackie. People are going to talk and stare no matter what. We're different from them. Not just because of that kiss but because we're not white."
Jackie felt nausea coming back up. "I can't have people stare. I won't have it. I can't be seen with you."
Her friend blinked and gave her a sad look.
"Okay. I'm not going to fight you on this, Jackie. I know you better than to try that. I'll keep my distance. But… let me know if you need anything."
As Alexa closed the door, Jackie could feel her heart shattering.
-
Her grades dipped again afterwards. Alexa had been a huge help with her siblings and it was hard to concentrate, especially in math when she still sat next to her.
She started feeling angry. She was angry that she was in charge of her siblings in the first place which led her to meeting Alexa.
She was angry at herself for being a coward and not being able to take people staring at her.
"Jackie, I want to talk to you." Her science teacher stopped her one day after class. Jackie dropped her bag on the ground with a huff. "Is everything okay? Your grades are dropping in my class."
"Yup. Fine. Can I go now?"
"Jackie."
"I don't know what you want me to say Ms. Torres. I have to take care of my siblings after school because the program only lasts until 3:30 for them. My parents can't afford to put them anywhere so I have to help out. So why should I give a damn?” Jackie said angrily. “I can't do anything about it, my siblings need me. And people stare at me because I'm different but I can't do anything about it!"
“You’ve been dealt a crappy hand.” Her teacher said with a critical eye before gesturing at a desk in front of her. Jackie gave a huff before sitting down at the desk and crossing her arms. “It sucks that what you want and what your parents want for you is not the same because that puts you at a disadvantage especially against all of your classmates whose parents can do things like afford tutors and know how to get their classmates into college.”
“It’s not fair.”
The words left her mouth before she could swallow them down to join resentment buried deep down in her heart.
“I know.”
Jackie uncrossed her arms, feeling herself deflate. All the anger that she felt mixed with the exhaustion and sadness that she had felt ever since she had realized how much the world hated her when she was nine and she was left just feeling tired.
“Neither of my parents went to college and they both worked full time jobs. And I was expected to take care of my siblings on top of going to school especially as I got older. I did well enough until I got to junior high and all of my classmates started doing things like going to camp and getting tutors to help them get ahead. All of a sudden, I was the Latina girl who was struggling to compete because they had all these advantages.”
"Exactly. If it's not fair, why should I try?"
Ms. Torres observed her quietly for a moment. "Your brother said the same thing."
"Avi?"
"He was one of my first students. He gave me trouble most of the year and then he and I talked just like you did. He told me that you were going to go do advanced classes in junior high and he felt like he missed out on his chance because he had to take care of you and your siblings."
"I didn't know."
"Because he cared about you and Dev and Anika more than anyone. And he got himself together when he realized he wanted to make sure you did more with your life."
Jackie brought her sleeve to her face and it came back wet.
-
"Behan?"
"Hey, Avi. I miss you. And I'm sorry."
He gave a chuckle over the phone. "I wish I had recorded that so I could play it back to you whenever I needed it."
"I kissed Alexa. I might be gay. I don't know. I don't want to label it right now."
"And you don't have to. You do not have to tell anyone, unless you want to, Jaks."
"I want to go to college." Her voice trembled. "I want to be a doctor. I love science and I'm good at it."
"You go do that then." He said firmly.
"Dev and Anika-"
"Will be fine. Mom and Dad will figure it out. You need to make sure you take care of you too."
"Okay. I love you, bhai."

Hi, can I get a matchup? Thank you in advanced and I hope you're doing well despite the current state of the world ❤
(Edit: almost an hour later and I've finally finished writing this. Let's just say this did not turn out the way I expected AT ALL and I'm so sorry in advanced. But at least I got a new story idea)
Introduction (Innocence): At first, I'm extremely shy, timid, and quiet. I have a hard time opening my mouth and starting conversations. It doesn't always bother me since I like keeping to myself because it keeps me motivated and stay focused on my goals. However, if someone approaches me, I try to be as polite, passive, and friendly as possible. The only way to move out of this stage is to constantly interact with me until I feel comfortable.
Chapter 1 (Reality): Now that I'm comfortable, the snark and attitude starts to come through. At first, it will be a few light-hearted teasing that surprise people. Slowly, the jabs grow harsher and my voice grows louder. The dynamic of the conversation changes as I begin to dominate. My voice rises as my hands do all the talking. Sarcasm and eye rolls are regular parts of conversation. A thick cloud of chaos and self-deprecation arises, leading to a storm of endless rangs about my dramatic woes. In the midst of this confusion, you can't help but wonder: what happened to that soft-spoken girl?
Chapter 2 (Chaos): It has become my personal mission to make your life as miserable as possible. My sinister laughter rings through the air, bringing headaches to those around me. Despite all their attempts, no one stop me writing monologues that parody your towards your crush or stealing your phone until you give me your chips. My ego has devoured my self-deprecation; my word is law. My beauty, my hardwork, my intelligence-- me. You absolutely hate it, but you can't leave. The quick-wit, the variety of humor, and the soft crinkle around my eyes when I smile. The smart-assery is almost endearing. You can't help but wonder, what is she doing to do next? It's a game of cat and mouse, but I am always victorious.
Chapter 3 (Darkness): Beneath the madness, lies a small girl fighting against the shackles against her feet. She will not accept any help, she must escape on her own. Doubt constantly lingers in her mind, a consequence of previous endeavors that failed due to pride. She does not care for those who jeer at her as she struggles, holding her head high. There's only one thing in her mind: she will do anything to escape. It will be methodical, calculating, and nothing less than perfection. And when she does, she vows to do everything in her power to take her rightful spot on the throne.
Chapter 4 (Light): And so she escapes and sets on her path to become queen. Along her path, she befriends villagers who aid her quest. Although she becomes the voice of harsh reason, they heed her wisdom. Her companions know that despite her sharp tongue, she is simply looking out for them. Although she dislikes any form of affection, the cracks of her stone heart shine through her actions. It is here that she finds balance. Innocence, reality, chaos, darkness, and light meld into one.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, the journey is not over. However, the journey itself can teach one a lot about themselves. Thus far, the little girl has learned for her love of novels, often with her head in clouds to escape reality. She's also taken a liking to storytelling, finding solace in writing and storytelling to express the emotions she cannot communicate otherwise. She likes to bathe in her vanity by indugling in fashion and makeup, spending hours to create the perfect look. Despite this newfound sense of self, only time will tell whether she can succeed in her quest.
Adding a summary below because as a fellow matchup writer, I can see how this description would drive you insane. I'm so sorry for the story lol
Summary: At first I'm super shy, but I'm actually a sarcastic smartass that has a large ego and annoys everyone. My only redeemable quality is that I'm funny. Deep down, I'm ambitious, stubborn, and paranoid. With friends I'm the unaffectionate voice of reason that shows love through actions. My hobbies are makeup, reading, writing, and public speaking (aka storytelling).

Hello! 💎
Thank you for sending in a request, I hope you like the result ! I’m doing fine, everybody at home is still healthy! 🙏
So I really enjoy how you elaborated on your layered and complex personality, because when I do matches I take people’s negative traits into consideration and they boy’s as well. Let’s face it, nobody’s perfect, and I like how the characters have their own flaws. I always look at how everybody could develop. (although it is not complete redemption cuz i’m not sure if that is possible for demons. like in paradise lost that is impossible but at this point it is not known how far obey me will go with that 🤷 but anyway regardless of canon i like to think that the MC has a positive effect on each character because i prefer healthy relationships)
So I think your shy first impression would actually draw all of them in. I mean like yeah, they all have their prefered types, but they are also very curious demons (not exactly genuine but curious nevertheless) and would compete to figure out your actual personality. (I mean..Belphie probably not that much but deep down he is interested too)
I think by the time you’d show your deeper layers and vica versa you’d have a strong bond with Mammon (he is supposed to be with you a lot so really; it is hard to avoid opening up to him first but it is up to your imagination how far that goes), Satan would appreciate your shared hobbies and intellect, but it is up to you how much you trust him. Asmo obviously because of makeup, you have a shared interest and he can show you some tricks regarding that. I think both Satan and Asmo could influence your writing also. (Satan knows some lit Devildom stories that the human world lacks, and Asmo probably knows so much gossip nobody is prepared for)
Now obviously, Asmo is not the ideal partner because he would definitely prefer someone affectionate.
I’m deciding between Lucifer and Satan..but I am unsure what kinf of improvement you and Lucifer would result in, despite the connection that might form between you two. (I mean I don’t think it is a good idea to pair a kind of arrogant character with a deep-down paranoid person.)
But I think you and Satan could work out.
I already mentioned the hobbies/shared interests and source of inspiration, but there is more than that to it!
He definitely needs some guidance in his life and no way he would ever let Lucifer play that role.
It’s not that he is not independent, but he should reconcile with his birth as much as he can - you being a dominant voice of reason under the surface is something he can respect.
Yeah he can be pretty dominant and that might result in arguments from time to time, but you are somebody he needs so he will do his best to apologize if he snaps for some reason.
You both are witty and sarcastic and I think you would kind of point out the other’s flaws like that. No offense taken on either side.
So his aggressive tendencies the others warned you about might cause paranoia in you but I don’t think he would actually be violent towards the MC so if you bring it up to him in a conversation he would reassure you that you really shouldn’t worry about that. (and then he beats up whoever made you think that, behind your back)
You see, on the surface he is also calm and collected but on a deeper layer he is also insecure and oh boy he has so much flaws that should be fixed.
Again, you being rational, wise, voice of reason proves to be much needed.
As I elaborated before, in his case I don’t think there is space for complete redemption but he would go a long way with your aid!
He also adores your ambitions and your goals in life.
He would read all the work you decide to share with him! He would disappear into the night reading your story and the next time you see him he has a copy of your story in his hand; little notes everywhere, underlined parts, several bookmarks, tons of insanely detailed questions, sharing his interpretations... you better be ready because it will be a long conversation.
This way he also learns so much about you and the way you express your feelings! He would fall sooo hard, especially when he supposes you like him because of some line on page 73′s third paragraph
He wouldn’t be sure though. (Again, he can be kind of insecure.)
Not until one of you actually makes a move. I think when that time comes, he would absolutely make a reference to one of your stories one way or another. Even if you don’t write romance. He’s smart, he will find a way.
I think he would also help you “stay on Earth” considering your fears and tendency of stubborn and prideful behaviour.
You would never have to ask him for help, as he will be the one suggesting it all the time. He is good at observing people, he will know if/when you need help. He refuses to be rejected by a human so really you have no chance here.
He also has his own sense of humour so time spent together would involve joking around sometimes. I mean despite his facade, he can be a little brat sometimes.
Like a cat he likes his independence so really he is not going to force any affection that you would not welcome. Maybe sometimes he enjoys it, but definitely not early in a relationship.
He would love to participate in your storytelling activities. Not one occassion he would miss.

Schmico Week Day Six
Favorite Nico moment(s)
There are unfortunately not a lot of Nico moments to choose from, but I went with him in episode one. He’s just such a good surgeon and so suave and I love how flustered me made Levi. Also, this killed me:
So this story is just a look into his mind. It’s not that good, but I’m glad I was able to get it done. I think it’s cute, even if it’s not fantastic. I hope you enjoy!
Nico Kim was on his first case at Grey + Sloan Memorial hospital. It was a girl who had been wrapped around a bike after being hit by a van driven by a matchmaker. Which turned out to be ironic since this girl was desperately looking to find a soulmate.
He was in the OR with a bevy of other doctors, working to help save this hopeless romantic’s life. Nico made a comment about giving up if he had to be wrapped around a bike to find his soulmate. Sure, he knew the man must be out there, but he wasn’t willing to end up on a bed in the OR just to find him.
A few moments later, after schooling Dr. Avery on a number of cliche phrases that could apply to the current situation, he glanced up and into the eyes on the intern who was on this case.
Oh. He’s really cute. How did I not notice him before?
This man must have been around while they were assessing Nisha in the ER, but Nico had been too focused on impressing his new boss and colleagues to really give him any attention. And while only half of his face was even visible, due to a surgical mask, Nico was struck by his wide, doe-like eyes. Doing a quick double-take, he made a decision. While he hadn’t planned to date during his fellowship, he wasn’t about to let such mesmerizing eyes pass him by. Mustering up his best suave flirting skills, he threw the intern a wink. A smug smile bloomed behind his mask when the intern’s eyes grew even wider and he dropped the emesis dish he had been holding, making it clatter loudly on the ground.
Adorable.
Nico had been able to sneak a few more glances at the intern during the surgery, but the man had scurried off rather quickly afterwards, meaning he didn’t have a chance to even get his name.
Hours later, while still thinking about the intern and wondering how he could discreetly find out his name, Link stormed over to him, ranting about how Avery had taken it upon himself to give Nisha a risky surgery without consulting them. Not only that, but he had dragged Schmitt along with him.
Hm. Schmitt. That must be the intern.
Before Nico could inquire further, Link was rushing off to the basement, dragging Nico along. They ended up being too late and the intercom was broken, so all they could do was observe the surgery through a tiny window in the door of the hyperbaric chamber. And maybe Nico spent a bit more time than necessary staring at the cute intern through that window. He seemed to be having a rough time, but he was still so adorable and Nico couldn’t keep his eyes off him. If Link noticed that Nico’s observation went beyond medical concern for his patient, he didn’t say anything.
Nico may have asked a nurse about the interns. Purely out of curiosity. Everyone knew that the nurses had all the gossip and important information. And he was new to the hospital so it only made sense that he’d want to get a feel for who was working there. He politely nodded along as she told him about a Casey Parker, a Taryn Helm, and a Dahlia Qadri. They all sounded lovely and smart and capable, but none were his intern.
“And then there’s Levi Schmitt.” Nico perked up. Schmitt! “He’s a sweetheart. A little clumsy and awkward, but definitely very smart. And caring. Patients love him. Some people will try to tell you he’s incompetent, but ignore them. He’s more than competent, he just hasn’t fully realized it yet.”
“Huh, I think he was on my case today.” Nico knew he had been. This intern was all he’d been able to think about since the OR.
“Oh, lucky you! He’s a great intern.”
“Yeah, I’m a fan.” Nico gave a sly smile, before waving a goodbye and making his way to the fellows’ lounge to shower and get changed.
He’s at the bar. He’s sitting at the bar, and he looks adorable. What’s the move?
Normally, he’d pull out all the stops. Flirt hardcore and make him melt. He’d have him in his bed by the end of the hour. But something felt… different. This guy didn’t seem like the type with whom you just have a quick one night stand. Nico wanted the morning after too. And the date beforehand. He wanted more from him.
So he settled on a drink. A drink was good. A drink would make his intentions known, but not immediately seduce him. The little lingering hand touch was just a bonus. With some charged eye contact, Nico took a swig of his beer before making his way back to his table. He could see, out of the corner of his eye, Levi’s head turn to follow him. Perfect. Maybe Levi found Nico as intriguing as Nico found Levi. Maybe he didn’t have to get wrapped around a bike to find his soulmate. Maybe he just needed to look up.

5 tips how to grow in your career
For the past few years I've worked in a corporate setting I've learned some few lessons on how to grow, escape, and pursue your dream career. In the mean time or maybe years from now, my opinion and words would change. I can't confidently say that I am very professional to when it comes to work and life advises, but here I am sharing what I faced and experienced throughout the years of my working experience.
Look for a job that suits your style in terms of your working environment. It may sound easy to find a job and get high after graduating from college, getting an interview and acing that job position and dream company you've been dreaming off. I'm not saying it's not bad to pursue these, but one big factor is the working environment you'll be staying for a long time and the people you'll be interacting with. It's good to do observe, do a quick research, and even ask during the interview what kind of environment a company has and what cultures are there inside the office. Different offices and companies have different cultures and kinds of each of their own environment. Some maybe socially active, some are quite, some are very comfortable, others may look very dry or very cool. There are offices that are very aesthetically pleasing, some are not. There are places with a large working space or unorganized, others have traditional looks while some are modernized. It really depends on the environment where you will feel challenged, comfortable, happy, and motivated. Choose wisely.
Choose the people you work with. It's important to engage with your colleagues during work. The people you work with came from different places of different cultures, social lifestyle, family background and history, specially age and generation. I've work with different companies of different generation I learned that it's hard to relate with people with a very big gap in generation and age. Most of the time I enjoyed working with people of the same generation and technological culture because we tend to understand each other more than of the older ones. Often times there can be co workers that are adaptable and flexible. A character trait you should have when you're about to enter the office is the to have the compassion of understanding, the empathy and sensitivity to other people's culture and lifestyle, specially when it comes to their health condition, religion, family background, or even relationship and history. Learn how to adapt and be patient.
Choose your boss. Choosing your boss is a very critical criteria in getting a job. Choosing a boss will also test your capability in working, in socializing, in behavior growth. This will also tell how you will be competively grow as a person, be able to balance a life with your work, develop your skills and learn how to become an effective employee. I've worked with a very strict and abusive before, I know I am a very competitive person and effective employee but because of the leadership style of my boss, I flunked my work. I failed a lot, I was not able to balance my health and work and outside social life. I didn't grow very well, so I decided to resign after a few months. Choosing a boss will help you save your career and have a good start up and the possibility of staying longer in a company.
Emotional Quality is more important than Intellectual Quality. This was a very hard pill to swallow for me. I knew I am a smart person, competitive guy, and even creative. I knew my strengths and weaknesses. I bragged where I am good at and boast myself to a lot of improvement and become overconfident with my skills and abilities, but I was lacking a emotional understanding. I learned that it is a good quality of an employee if he/she has a heart more than a mind. I was taught that in recruiting a newly hired employee in the modern days, it is better to choose the attitude and behavior of the person thay will befenit equally between the company and for the employee because the necessary skills and working techniques can be soon and will be taught along the journey. Be great in mind, but also be a great in heart and in social spirit.
Just go for it! Go grab the opportunity as much as possible and as many as you can. If you ever dream of maybe not working a corporate setting but building your own business, or traveling across the globe, or pursuing arts, or want to become an actor, etc etc. JUST GO FOR IT. Brush off the doubts, just do your best. Make your way up there and make any possible effort you can do no matter how small or big it is. Planning to resign because of work issues or personal goals, if you think you can do it now then go. Wanted to change your carrer and pursue your passion, go for it. Wanted to become a volunteer instead and help different foundations for the needs and the environment, aim it and get out of the chair and run for it. There may be setbacks that will occur, but do know that nothing comes unfinished if you don't make the first step. I've been told many times to pursue what I need and what I want in life because eventually it will lead you to the right path and will make you happier, much more fulfilled and successful. Guess what, it's all true. I've told myself and it has become my mantra that I share to many people "Just do what you can do, what will help you, what you think is right for you, and what will make you happy." And these words have been helping me get by and focus well.

Explaining Dabi's stats
I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the BNHA stats of the characters from the data book, mainly because it’s hard to understand what the stats behind the characters really mean. I’m here to explain the stats to help people get a better understanding below.
Power: Strong can mean strength, but power is something different all together. When describing strong and power, those are two different things. Power means how much power goes in a quirk and how much power a quirk has. Power in the stats is about the destructive potential to create damage in the surrounding area. This also notes effective it is to use on someone.
Speed: Speed focuses on how fast someone can be. This also includes describing someone with having flexibility, agility, and quick reflexes.
Technique: This is about how creative you can use the quirk to the fullest potential and how resourceful you can get with it.
Intelligence: What’s in intelligence? How can you describe how smart someone is? Well, intelligence could be explained in various ways! For example: using sophisticated calculation to predict your opponent's movements, formulating brilliant strategies, making precise predictions, having keen intuition and observation skills, excellent ability to deduce your opponents, resourcefulness in utilizing your surroundings and situation, able to figure out ways to maneuver your enemies, figuring out the mechanisms of a quirk, perceptiveness and evaluation skills on people their personalities and mental states. Describing Intelligence in other people would be cunningness, analytical skills, and having a great memory.
Cooperation: As Chiyo mentioned in a panel, cooperation is about being able to work well with someone to a certain degree.
Now that I’m done explaining time for Dabi’s states.
Power:
Let me start with the first Dabi’s of states: Power. The power of his quirk is up to four, which is pretty high considering what it does. Dabi’s flames are extremely hot; their temperature is higher than normal which is signified by blue flames, blue being very high heat. Dabi’s quirk is really destructive as seen when he set beasts forest ablaze, destroying everything around them in the process.
Dabi’s quirk has proved to be powerful, destructive, and deadly, able to kill or seriously injure anyone. He is able to incarcerate a group of thugs in the alley in mere seconds with his quirk.
Hell he even generates large a wall of flames. People around it called it hot.
Four in the stats is considered really powerful but why did it stop at only four? Take Kirishima and Shoto for example: Shoto has two weaknesses when using quirk (if he uses his ice side too long he will get frostbite), and Kirishima’s hardening has a limit: when he takes too much damage his hardening will dissolve slowly and loses stamina in the process. So what kind of setback does Dabi have when using his quirk? That is left to be seen.
Speed:
*Before we go over this first let me talk about what three means in stats. Three in stats in bnha means “average” if you see the states of the Pro Hero Manual you can see that all of his stats are three. Fitting since he is the Normal Hero "Manual”.
I admit when it comes to speed Dabi is not too fast. This is seen when he was subdued easily by Eraserhead and Vlad king got knocked out by Gran Torino the speedy old geezer.
Dabi isn’t fast when compared to people who are quicker than him even when competing against pros with high speed value. Even though he’s not quick, he has good reflexes an example of it is when he warned Mr Compress to dodge, succeeded in injuring Mezo and Izuku in the process, with an exception of Shoto, who dodged his attacks.
He also caught Katsuki from Shoto’s hands who is agile and fast in class 1A. Dabi is fast enough to catch Katsuki in front of Shoto.
His reflexes are good not fast but good.
Technique:
We haven’t seen how creative Dabi can use his quirk only in short instances. He burns down beasts in the forest, creates fireballs, and manipulate the flames around him.
Dabi fires a straight line of fire towards the police vehicle that hold Overhaul.
He creates a wall of flames surrounding Endeavor and Hawks. We don’t see how much he used his quirk.
If taking about if he uses his surroundings he hasn’t done more than what he actually should. Dabi didn’t squeeze out the uses from the members of the Vanguard action squad he needed too. He never fully utilizes their abilities to his full advantage except when he asked Twice to make him clones he didn’t do more than that. I’m not saying he’s terrible in Technique; I’m saying he should do more with it.
Intelligence:
Okay now for Intelligence. Remember Tomura left Dabi in charge of the vanguard action squad with no intention if the league failed the mission or not but to create cracks in society.
Dabi’s entire plan was to distract the pros and trap the students. Dabi didn’t give the Vanguard squad specific orders and is vague in instructions he’s giving them. He didn’t provide specific command to carry out lets them run lose. Dabi doesn’t use his teammates’ abilities to his full advantage. He lets them wonder around the forest. When his own plan is to distract the pros by using Twice’s clones, he left the members to do the rest of the work.
Dabi doesn’t know half of the students quirks. Dabi knows about Snatch’s quirk because he saw it used from the vehicle around the police car.
He didn’t even know that the students would fight back or defend themselves. Dabi almost forgot about the nomu he run free he’s not an experienced leader seen him forgetting about the nomu shows he cannot multitask.
He even forgot snatch for crying out loud until later.
Dabi is not coordinated he may of completed the mission with three casualties and no injures on the villain side but he lost three villains with powerful quirks. Even Overhaul took notice of this. If you look at his planning from a strategic standpoint, it’s sloppy in many areas. echo drops pointed it out right here Dabi is utterly careless such as when he accidentally caused the league of villains location to be revealed.
Even left the people he killed out in the open.
He set high end on Endeavor an advanced nomu which was defeated by him he wasted a perfectly good nomu he wasted a good amount of the league of villains resources. you could argue that he’s a terrible strategist he not mindful of his resources and not think too deeply on the outcome of the circumstances.
However Dabi is far from unintelligent as I said before about three in states three means average. People who had three for intelligence were not unsmart. Manual asked Ida if he was going after the hero killer because he knew that was why Ida chose his office. Uraraka is perceptive and blunt seen when understanding Bakugou behavior towards Izuku. She was the first to find out that Izuku’s quirk is going out of control even acted on it.
Despite Dabi being careless when it comes to crime and the league of villains, he isn’t careless at all when it comes to people.
Dabi is observant of his surroundings and of other people around him. Dabi questions if the league of villains really supports the cause doubts when they are allowing Himiko to join. Express his discomfort at Himiko’s insanity when she first introduced herself.
He is shown to be quick to defend himself when he knows he going to be attack like when tomura attacked them. He commented at Tomura’s behavior after Tomura left.
Hence, Dabi is good at people he’s good at seeing through other emotions of people. For example. when he taunts Vlad King, he says he knows how the hot-blooded Vlad would act and Eraserhead for protecting his students.
Cutiesableye explained what that meant. He’s good at reading people he knew Bakugou is to attack when Tomura didn’t.
Dabi saw though Shotos stoic nature at a first glance place taunting him that famous line.
Dabi doesn’t completely trust hawks when hawks said was working for the league of villains during their partnership.
he may not be a coordinating strategist but his only dangerous ability if his ability to read other people you would see it many times in the manga.
Cooperation:
How his cooperation is up to four as I previously mentioned about cooperation doesn’t mean how social and outgoing someone is but how to work well with someone despite their differences. Dabi is not social at all. He keeps things to himself. Dabi isn’t very close to the league of villains like when calling them psychos and nutjobs and other undesirable nicknames. He shows irritation and uneasiness working with them.
However Dabi will set aside his personal feelings corporate with the league of villains to complete his own agenda as seen after Tomura attacks them when they first met he works with them despite calling him a brat. With the Vanguard action squad he refers to them as “nut jobs” he works with them to achieve his objectives. He has no problem working alongside with anyone as seen with Twice, whom he relies on to keep the pros at bay. Because of Dabi’s own cooperation with the League he was able to complete the mission in capturing Katsuki. He proves he can set aside his personal feelings for his own hidden goals. During the police car raid on Overhaul, you can see his cooperation when both he and Mr. Compress killed Snatch together.
Another example of this is Hawks, the number 2 hero whom he is secretly giving him info he is using him to complete his objectives. Dabi works well with just anyone as long as he can complete his objective.
Well and that includes my explanation! What do you think of Dabi stats?

REPOST! DON’T REBLOG!
full name: gavin jacob reed gender + sexuality: cis male - gay ethnicity + species: his last name ‘reed’ is of irish origin, while gavin is welsh. i personally hc he’s mostly irish background, a little welsh, and if you go back far enough his ancestors are from israel on his mother’s side; the only traditions he recalls having growing up were jewish ones. (he doesn’t actively practice judaism.) he’s a big dumb human. birthplace + birthdate: detroit, michigan, USA + oct. 7th 2002 guilty pleasures: cigarettes, ice hockey, boxing, slim jims, coffee, cheesy horror films, excessive gym visits phobias: aquaphobia (fear of drowning), thalassophobia (fear of the sea/open water), galeophobia (fear of sharks), and abandonment. so basically the ocean and dying alone. what would they be infamous for ? uuuhhhh being a piece of shit? idk. he’s managed to be an asshole but still remain a competent detective so that’s kind of noteworthy. what would they have gotten arrested for ? petty crimes, vandalism, smoking pot before it was legal, dumb shit you do as a teenager to act out. he’s a cop now so he doesn’t do illegal shit unless it’s just bending the rules, but he did as an angry teen. character you ship them with: rk9 and connor mostly, but honestly it comes down to chemistry. i came in shipping reed9 hard, then convin and now i’m neck deep in some hankvin too with droov. it really all depends on the mun and muse he’s connecting with, as gavin is absolutely a difficult person to be with. he is only shipped with males, though, as he identifies as gay, albeit reluctantly. character most likely to murder them: probably himself tbh or someone trying to get to his bigwig hotshot brother favourite book genre: crime-fiction. is favorite book series is sherlock holmes, and anything by stephen king. least favourite book cliché: happily ever after. talents + powers: he’s incredibly intuitive and chameleon-like, as in he can amp up the charm or dial it back when he needs to talk to specific witnesses or suspects. by extension this makes it hard to tell when he’s being sincere, go figure. he has a good memory, and is an excellent shot with a gun, and his will to survive is second to none. he is scrappy and willing to do things most aren’t in order to come out on top. he is cunning and quick-witted, and his deduction/observational skills are very good and well trained. why someone might love them: this is all based on my own version of gav considering we saw him for all of two minutes ic and he was a shit the entire time but, lets get to it: gavin is, at his roots, a very passionate person. he desperately wants to succeed despite pretending he doesn’t care because he wants to be useful to others. his desire to be the best is, to some, very admirable. he is also smart, and incredibly loyal once you manage to gain his trust. he rarely gives it to anyone, so when you have it, you have it until he dies. he is mostly defensive of himself, but if he considers you close to him, that same defensiveness applies to you too. he will protect those that can’t protect themselves, and claim it’s just because of his job but deep down it’s because he actually really does care about the greater good, and upholding the law. why someone might hate them: he is quick to judge and very hot-tempered. his insecurities run deep and he absolutely projects those on to other people. he assumes a lot about people at first meet, and lashes out first in order to protect himself from someone possibly doing the same to him. ‘hurt you before you can hurt me’ kind of deal. his paranoia makes it incredibly difficult for him to trust you, so you can often feel like you’re trying too hard for something he won’t reciprocate. he hates himself more than he hates anyone else is the bottom line, but that is often projected onto other people. he can be irrational and judgmental, and has a hard time admitting when he’s wrong. how they change: slowly and with time and encouragement, he changes. he needed something to force him to seek new input, though, as he is very stubborn and wouldn’t go out of his way to change anything - ie; the revolution. the way of the world changed and he couldn’t stop it, so he was forced to adapt. at first, he did so out of necessity to survive in the world. but as time goes on, he does more than just adapt out of requirement. he doesn’t really like anyone when he first meets them, androids are no different, but it’s mostly because deep down he is a lonely, insecure person. once he finds his own confidence again, everything else would just kind of follow along after. he changes on his own, or with a partner; each one is its own course, though he is absolutely capable of changing and growing as a person on his own.

Dabi felt like he lost a small battle when he sent Twice to give the girl her next meal after the ‘incident’ or whatever that type of situation could be called.
It felt like somehow he complied what she ordered him to do, and following orders never sat well with him. So, he kinda was cursing at himself right now for ‘giving in’ in some way.
It wasn’t because he wanted to please her in any way, though. It was mostly because of her words left him mute at that moment.
“Just tell me what you want from me”
The fact that he didn’t even have an answer for himself was pissing him off.
What was the true reason why he was the one who was acting as a maid?
Shigaraki didn’t ask him to do so. He didn’t even mention the girl once when he talked to him these past days (he did mention her to the other members of the League, though. Dabi found that quite odd but haven’t really commented on it. It’s not like he was interested anyways).
It just sort of happened before he could even realize what was going on.
The first morning in the new base Twice was sent in his civilian outfit to get something to eat for the prisoner. It seemed that it only downed to them that the girl hasn’t really eaten anything in more than a day, and it wouldn’t really be convenient if she died on them accidentally. Killing her would be more profitable.
Twice returned quickly from his small trip to the nearest grocery store, possibly because one of his ‘sides’ somehow had a little soft spot for the girl. He was quick to put on his suit again and heat up a small cup of instant noodles before rushing to her ‘room’. All while Dabi’s eyes followed his every move from the only couch that the base had, that was conveniently placed somewhere with a very great view of her door.
Magne was sent to the grocery store later in the day, since Shigaraki trusted her with food much more than anyone else in the place. She returned a couple of hours later, casually commenting that she only stole half of the stuff she brought with her.
Spinner then offered to help with the food. They made omurice for the League and lazily put some frozen nuggets in the small oven for the prisoner.
The next thing Dabi knew was that he snatched her tray of food just before Twice could get his hands on it.
“I’ll take care of it” The words slipped out of his mouth.
He could feel Shigaraki’s eyes on him as he made his way towards the girl’s room.
He brushed it off.
It wasn’t the first time something like this happened to him. It’s been happening for the past years of his life. He unconsciously realized he wanted to do something and he did it. No doubts, no questions asked, no overthinking.
He functioned better this way, and he liked functioning this way, too.
He won’t ever get ordered around again, he won’t ever hast for permission or give explanations for his actions.
Once he got in front of her door, he simply unlocked it and opened it up to then see her laying on her bed with her back facing him.
She didn’t turn around or flinch, she didn’t even tense up. In fact, she seemed quite comfortable where she was, considering she was currently kidnaped by villains and held somewhere unknown.
He found that quite odd.
He began to walk towards her, expecting her to turn around at some point, but she didn’t. It was only when he was close enough to the bed that she did turn.
He clearly saw how her eyes turned from slightly confused to completely horrified.
He would be lying if he said he wasn’t at least a bit pleased by that.
Horrified eyes instantly turned into a death glare, though.
She turned her back to him again, and spat out “I’m not hungry” in such an angered way that Dabi couldn’t keep the corners of his mouth from lifting up.
He carefully placed the tray on her bed, and simply settled to sit laying on the opposite wall.
Again, he didn’t know why. But something about her being all tensed up now made him stay and watch.
It didn’t take long to watch her explode.
She got up and snapped at him like a rabid puppy –quite amusingly if he may add- while he simply looked at her lazily. He could see that she was fighting the urge to hit him with something, but she was smarter than that.
Because it definitely wouldn’t be pretty for her if she dared to touch him.
When she finally gave in and ate, he felt something he was sure he never felt before in his life.
Dabi liked challenge, to an extent. A very, very short extent if he was being honest.
After his entire childhood and puberty was a constant competition he wasn’t very fond of the feeling in a certain way.
He didn’t like the fact that when he was competing against something or someone, somehow, he felt like he didn’t have his own rails. He felt like someone else had control over him, and it would only give him that sour taste in his mouth he was very familiar with from the past.
Still, he found that he did enjoy certain challenges now. Like challenging over power, over control. It was mostly involved with his villain ‘job’ per say. Otherwise, his life was pretty careless, lazy or easy going.
He didn’t give a shit about most things.
But now, seeing that oddly mixture of challenge yet fear in her eyes he couldn’t help but feel a pull towards it.
What was going on in this girl’s mind?
He knew that he was pretty much hideous.
Burns and staples all over his face was a look straight out of a horror movie. He knew that she knew his quirk was pretty much devastatingly powerful as well. Lethal. And he was also positive that people were able to tell that feelings weren’t really fond of him so ‘mercy’ or ‘compassion’ were definitely not written across his forehead.
While she was being partially smart to be afraid of him, she was also being partially stupid to snap on him like that or look at him in a challenging way at all.
She was lucky he was curious enough about her not to roast her off to a better life for simply daring to annoy him.
Oh-
That was it.
He was curious. He was curious about her.
And he had plenty reasons to be.
Her past, her insistence of fighting even if she doesn’t stand a chance, her self-sacrificial antics, her wishes to be a heroine.
But most important of all, the feelings that she expressed every time her parents were mentioned. Feelings that mirrored his own perfectly.
He figured that he wanted to know exactly how things went down. He wanted to know everything, from the beginning. Perhaps it was because he never really encountered anyone that has been through a similar situation or whatever; he didn’t really care what his inner-unconscious motives were after all.
But it wasn’t only that…
If he was being honest he never really had any experiences with girls (obviously not romantically speaking) other than family or Toga (that didn’t count because she was batshit crazy, so, she wasn’t really a reference). He never got a chance to. But, even still, he knew that this particular girl was not ordinary.
Before she asked that damned question that left him mute as an idiot he would confidently say that the reason why he kept on being the one that gave her meals was because he was curious and he wanted to observe her like she was some rare animal in the zoo (not that he ever went to the zoo, but… whatever). But after she asked that he realized that what he was doing was actually pointless, considering that 99% of the time she would be ignoring him or snapping at him. So, what was there to ‘learn’ that would satisfy his curiosity if he was just sitting there for half an hour or so watching her do pretty much nothing?
That’s why he sent Twice in today, and he was mentally kicking himself for it. Not just because in some way he did what she told him to, but also because he let stupid, meaningless words to affect him enough to overthink them.
What did he want from her?
To join them? No. Not really.
Mostly because she hated her parents and she doesn’t want to follow their steps.
So, if it wasn’t that, what was it?
The only thing left (besides the curiosity issue) was that he now acknowledged and accepted in a way that he enjoyed being challenged by her.
When she threw the tray of food making it crash and splatter all over the floor he felt a sudden rush of anger in his blood. He was furious. Because how dare this helpless school girl defy him in any way?
But part of him enjoyed it as well. The challenge.
And maybe that was the reason why he was with her lunch on one hand while unlocking and opening the door with the other.
It was the first time she wasn’t facing backwards to the door. In fact, she was sitting cross-legged on the bed while reading a book. It was also the first time he saw her in a different set of clothes and with her hair down and slightly wet.
He instantly remembered that Twice was sent to buy some clothes for her early in the morning after Shigaraki said ‘We’re still freaking recruiting her or did every of you idiots forget about that already?’
She was now wearing a simple yellow T-shirt and some sports shorts. Both too incredibly large for her, but then again he couldn’t even imagine what shopping with Twice would be like.
The book was probably doing of the side of Twice that thought the girl was a toddler.
She lifted her gaze right after the door closed behind him and he saw how her eyes widened slightly before returning to her reading.
He did the exact same thing as any other day: Place the food tray on her bed and go straight to sit in the exact same spot he always did.
It was kind of surprising to hear her talk right away.
“I thought you were finally released from maid duty” She said without even bothering to look up from her book.
A chuckle threatened to escape his throat.
Yeah, this girl is definitely not ordinary.
“Missing Twice already?” He said mockery pretty clear in his voice. “Sorry to disappoint you, princess, but he seems to have a thing for Toga” He said looking straight at her with a smirk in his face. “Part of him, at least”
She sent him a vicious death glare, but turned to her book right after.
“Rather be with him than with you” She merely commented, as casual as she could.
“Ouch” He simply said and she glared at him again.
She closed the book for a moment and grabbed the tray, placing it on top of her knees to then calmly starting to eat the gyudon that was in front of her, flinching and scrunching her nose right after tasting the first bite.
He didn’t blame her. Compress cooked today and it was a complete disgustingly disaster.
She kept on eating, though.
“Why did you come back?” She casually asked like she was talking about the weather. “To burn me again?”
“I didn’t burn you” He answered after a few seconds. Yeah, he wordlessly threatened to but his palm wasn’t hot enough to actually burn her.
“Right” She said, and after sipping some water she continued. “Why not, though? Will get you in trouble?”
She was taunting him.
He narrowed his eyes just barely at her to then smirk ever so slightly.
“Not at all” he said. “I just thought that burning you isn’t a really effective way to convince you to join” He said the first thing that came to mind.
“Yet you burned Bakugou and you were trying to ‘convince’ him, too”
His eyebrows lifted ever so slightly at the sudden mention of the angry boy’s name.
“Still mad about that?” He asked at first. “I didn’t know you two were friends. Want me to send him an ‘I’m sorry’ card? I can add that you say ‘Hi’”
She quickly avoided his gaze with her jaw clenched.
They both stayed quiet for a few moments.
“Why don’t you just kill me?” She asked, breaking the silence.
The question definitely startled him.
“Huh?” He said, hiding completely his curiosity and startlement about the question.
She looked at him, dead in the eye.
“You heard me”
“You want me to kill you?” He asked. He didn’t take her for the cowardly type. In the few days she’s been captured, and ever since seeing her for the first time even, he thought that she was a pain in the ass, in a good way… sort of. That annoyingly persistent type of person that won’t stop pissing you off and wont budge until they got what they wanted.
The death exit definitely seemed coward compared to the initial impression he got from her.
What was off of this whole conversation was the lack of fear or desperation in her eyes while talking about death.
“Not necessarily you” She shrugged. “I mean the whole... Villains Gang or whatever the hell you guys call yourselves”
“’Villains Gang’?” He mentally scoffed.
“Y’all know I won’t join you” she continued. “I know you know” She said, referring to him in particular. “Wouldn’t it be easier to just kill me off and show it to the world?” She added, eyes never leaving his. “That’s still a win, isn’t it? That way you’ll still win and the Heroes lose. So what are you waiting for?”
He wanted to laugh at himself for being startled before, so he did. He let out a quiet snort.
Of course she was challenging him, again.
He didn’t know what her ultimate goal was but she was trying to get under his skin.
“I hope you’re aware that you’re playing with fire here, sweetheart” He warned.
“I didn’t know you were the punny type” She said completely disregarding his threat with an ‘innocent’ look on her face.
He chuckled again and started to walk towards her, getting a sickly pleasant feeling once he saw her tense up as fear flashed through her eyes for a moment.
He simply took her food tray with one hand while with the other he softly brushed hair out of her color drained face while looking straight into her eyes dangerously.
“You truly are something else, I’ll give you that” He said as he softly let go of her. “Just don’t get too comfy around here, okay?”
And then he left.
X
If Bakugou could blast the world off and turn it to ash, he would. He would, without a single doubt.
It’s been four days of coming and going to the Police station to check if they managed to get the lead of something –anything- but those fuckers where complete and utter incapable idiots.
It also seemed that without All Might and Best Jeanist the heroes turned into incapable idiots as well.
He kicked forcefully the door of his house, snapping it open soundly as he stomped through the halls making his way to his room.
“Katsuki?” His mother said as she got out of the kitchen. “Any news? Do they know anything about her?”
He didn’t answer; he simply stomped his way up the stairs and closed his door forcefully almost snapping it in two.
His hands were itchy, so unbearably itchy.
He needed to blast something off -or several somethings- before he went mad.
He was an incapable idiot, too.
How could he allow something like this to happen!? How did he even allow himself to get kidnapped in the first place!?
He sighed, his shoulders trembling slightly out of rage because of his last thought.
He was actually glad he was kidnapped, in a way.
He was glad that at least at the beginning that girl wasn’t on her own.
They should’ve stayed together. Either free or captive, but together.
He was supposed to become the world’s greatest hero, yet he allowed himself to get saved by a sacrifice.
He was at his home, safe and sound, while who knows where or how she was.
He should’ve gotten free of Kirishima’s grasp and tried to save her or sacrifice instead or at least get captured again with her.
His mind hasn’t stopped for a single second ever since he saw how she was carried by the crusty bastard through the portal, disappearing from his sight. Every single second was filled with her.
He couldn’t stop chastising himself, blaming himself and cursing himself after everything.
He was an incapable idiot. He was weak, and useless, and stupid.
He felt like shit, and the rumors running around the country weren’t helping either.
Instead of worrying about her most people were already dissing her.
Saying that she’d probably joined The League already.
Fuckers.
He was gonna find her, he was gonna bring her back and he was gonna prove all those fuckers wrong. She was gonna prove them wrong.
And he will make those bastards of The League of Villains pay.
Notes:
I truly hope you enjoyed this....
Anyways, I’ve gotten several concerned reviews about a few issues so I guessed I should adress them to help calm down the insecurities of some of you:
Regarding Stockholm Syndrome: I am not really going for that... I mean yes, this is a romantic fanfic and yes our Reader/OC is captured but that’s really not exactly what I’m going for... I have the plot in my head already and while I can’t really give you details, I can assure you that it’s not gonna happen that way.
Regarding OverPowering: I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: I hate overpowered characters. I hate superman and I don’t like Captain America or any of those characters that are god send or ‘chosen ones’ or just invincible characters. I like characters with flaws, with drawbacks, with weaknesses. I like them to be human and relatable because i like to feel related to them. So don’t worry about that. She won’t become supergirl in the future or ever to be honest.
Regarding the ‘She’ll join the league’ theory: She won’t. Oops.
I know a lot of you want this, but I didnt create a strong willed character with strong convictions and dreams and beliefs and views just so she can forget about everything because of a boy of all things. Sorry, but nope.
That doesn’t mean that Dabi is gonna switch sides either. Just wait and see.
I guess that’s all...
Anyways, thanks for all your amazing reviews! i truly appreciate them :)
Do you want a next chap?
-Silvana.

How to Use SEO to 2019
SEO or else known since Search Engine Optimization. Because when somebody searches for SEO via tone of voice search, he would speak ‘what is SEO' or ‘How in order to do SEO' rather than just requesting SEO. The search engine informs 500-600 updates annually and the particular SEOs need to comply along with these changes to ensure that will their websites follow legitimate optimisation practices. They are considered a crucial Local SEO search engine ranking factor. SEO within 2018 means greeting the consumer with the exact information these people are looking for at the particular exact time they are searching for it. This is often on the variety of platforms, from tone of voice search to local businesses plus online shopping. Google algorithms for SEO are usually quite complex and are becoming updated constantly to keep company quick-witted and responsive. At the same period, the rise of messaging applications and personal assistants has shown new challenges which SEO should continue to overcome in 2018. On the particular other hand, traffic coming through SEO is free and organic” and can take a lengthy time to obtain recognized, whilst the traffic generated from PAY PER CLICK (Pay Per Click) and SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING (Search Engine Marketing) is just not free of charge and companies pay for to look on the top of the particular Search Engine to get fast not organic results. So, I would certainly declare 2018 is a problem for Google, just as very much as it might be intended for SEOs. We have several good rankings, but we are usually always trying to improve and observe what the future holds intended for SEO. In 2018, the user experience is the particular center of development as properly as the key point intended for the SEO strategies. SEO continues to be king of the Internet, plus businesses will continue to require valuable, and unique content that will will meet the need associated with their company in the yrs ahead. Backlinks are one of the most significant SEO factors. In order to give you a head begin, here are the SEO tendencies and techniques we expect in order to dominate in 2018. Debbie A. Everson is the particular CEO of, experienced SEO Specialists and Search Engine Optimization Company to 2, 000 small companies. Off-Page SEO refers in order to all the things that may be done directly OFF your own website to help you much better search engine positions, such since social networking, article submission, discussion board & blog marketing, etc. SEO (or Search Engine Optimization ) is probably the most significant competitive digital marketing advantage that you could have over your competition. For online marketers who were brought up inside the ‘traditional SEO market, ' 2018 is a time in order to adapt or die. Today, I'll discuss the on-page SEO techniques which will assist you to increase your position searching results in 2018. Long descriptions are usually great for Youtube video SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION and give you a location to add timestamps, useful hyperlinks, and an overall summary. CRAWL it, such as Google does, with (for example) Screaming Frog SEO spider, and repair malformed links or things that will result in server errors (500), broken hyperlinks (400+) and unnecessary redirects (300+). SEO is mainly about keywords. See how I naturally included multiple variations of the keywords (called LSI keywords) that I am looking to target how to do seo”, seo tips and techniques”, search engine optimization wordpress”, and so forth Whether the marketer or a business proprietor, as well as an agency for SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION, it's always good for analysis and learning new SEO strategies.
