Feat. a Cunningham family dinner where Jonathan heroically does a terrible job eating corn on the cob to get Laura off of Chrissy’s back.

Favorite Fic: the space your name makes. i feel like i beat this horse to death, but i’m still very satisfied with how the concept came through and while it did expand more than i anticipated, at the end of the day it really feels like the fic i set out to write.

Hardest Fic: now we’re on the trolley for all of the character juggling, the fact that it started as a random collection of scenes that needed to be welded together, and because the whole time i was writing it i knew it would be completely niche fic in an already niche fandom, which really made me question whether it was worth the effort i was putting into it (it was and i’m fond of it, but it did hurt). treat me like a comma came close, not just for the deadline i gave myself and having to deal with irl issues that really cut into my writing time, but also for trying to figure out how law school!rethaniel would actually interact.

Do you plan to take prompts in 2019? planning on it! i still have a few chilling in my inbox that i want to clear out before i ask for more, and i’m kind of interested in putting together my own prompt list at some point in the future.

What was the best thing about 2018? falling into a fandom and writing regularly again was a really pleasant surprise, especially writing voices and dynamics that are just completely out of my comfort zone. i have also never been this productive in a single year, nor am i used to writing stories that go much beyond 5,000 words, which has been a weird sea change, but not unwelcome. i’ve met some really kind people and read a lot of really interesting, thoughtful fic and meta. 

What was the worst thing about 2018? mostly small fandom problems, from coming to terms with the fact that feedback is different to realizing that the more unpleasant parts of the fandom experience can become even more prominent very quickly, before i built my chill bubble.

Any last thoughts for 2018? it’s been turbulent, that’s for sure. sadness that ceg will be ending, but i’m also curious to see how the finished series will affect how we look at these characters and themes.

Goals for 2019? 

learn to trust my choices and stand by them. i’ve definitely held myself back from writing dialogue that in retrospect would have worked very well, but i was scared of for whatever reason.

if i have a feeling a fic is gonna be long, i need to just plan for it and stop kidding myself.

once ceg is over and the final lessons have been placed, assess the canon and settle in to write a long-ass magical realism au.

In honor of the new season, I wanted to do a little celebration post. So I figured why not do an olicity fanfic rec post to tide us over until the season premiere tonight!

I’ve titled this as my fic rec #1, because I have a plethora of favorite olicity fics and I know I won’t be able to list them all in one post. (Honestly I have an olicity archive program on my computer that collects links to all of my fav fics and there’s almost 800 stories stored and counting)

Core Curriculum Series by @dettiot (college au, pre-series au, alternate arrow retelling au) A series of stories, each of which is a follow up to the main story Women’s Studies. The other stories are basically different outcomes that can occur based on what happened with the first story. Think of it as a choose you’re own adventure story!

Legacy by @ash818 (future fic, arrow next gen, canon divergence) A story chronicling the life of Jonathan Queen as he takes up the mantle as the Arrow. The story is so well thought out with amazing original characters that will make you think they’re actually part of canon.

21 Guns by @entersomethingcleverhere​ (military au, doctor au, friends to lovers) Felicity is a military doctor in Germany, Oliver is the soldier who got injured during a blast. The stories of Oliver’s recover and how his friendship with Felicity flourished into something more. Plus, everything else that comes after that.

Forever Is Composed of Nows by @dust2dust34 & @so-caffeinated (time travel au, canon divergence, next gen au, future fic, domestic olicity) Set in s2, future Barry shows up in the foundry with a little girl in his arms that he needs leave with Team Arrow because the little girl is in danger. Low and behold, the little girl also happens to be Oliver and Felicity’s future daughter! The story deals with Oliver and Felicity coming to grips with their future and the following stories follows the adventures of their future kids. 

His Girl Wednesday Universe by @pimsiepim​ (no arrow au, assistant/boss au, friends to lovers) Has an Ugly Betty meets Arrow theme where Felicity is Oliver’s assistant. At first their relationship is a bit rocky, but ends up with Oliver pretty much finding the value of having Felicity in his life, both professionally and personally. And, there’s also feelings developing.

Just One Night by @bunnybebe247 (no arrow au, friends with benefits au) What was supposed to be a one night stand turns into more nights spent together while becoming friends. Eventually becoming more.

Media Darling by @wagamiller (s4 canon compliant) An episode tag for 4x04 with Oliver, Felicity and Thea as they prep Oliver for his upcoming Mayoral race.

Drabble-Shot:

zapp'o'lies by @sssssssim  (canon divergence, justice league kind of) The Joker and Harley Quinn kidnap Oliver and Felicity and put them through a lie detector test. A special appearance by Bruce himself.

All's Fair in Love and Adoption (no arrow au, strangers meeting, texting style, pets au) Oliver adopts a dog that Felicity wanted to adopt. She’s kind of bitter about it and starts to text him. Friendship and hijinks ensues.

Next To You by @lynslogic  (neighbors au, pets, friends to lovers) Neighbor’s Oliver and Felicity are brought together by Felicity’s tiny ball of furr. 

Free Fall by @supersillyanddorky06 (soulmates au, arrow retelling) Felicity discovers Oliver is her soulmate. It’s kind of difficult to pull away from him at this point. And Oliver doesn’t understand why he can’t pull away from her. 

Once More (From the Top) by @writewithurheart (time travel au, arrow retelling) When Oliver from s3 died by Ra’s sword, he wakes up... back in 2012 when he came home to Starling City. Oliver relives his first year being back home, wanting to do things different this time. Especially where Felicity is concerned.

WIP Title Meme - Savisnow edition

Like before I’m gonna say a bit about each anyhow but if you want to know more about any you can still ask too. This time it’s the Savisnow edition, although I don’t know if anyone much will see this when my posts about the ship don’t look to ever turn up in that tag, dunno what tumblr has against my posts appearing in searches but nevermind. Most of these will be chapters of “Why Should I Trust You” which is my oneshot collection for the pairing.

chapter6v2-NoQuickFix - Caitlin is kidnapped again, Savitar overreacts and it forces him to confront his feelings.

chapter7v1 - Basically Groundhog day for Savitar. I love timeloop episodes so this is one I am really excited for but need to figure out what happens during the progression of loops.

chapter8v2-ThereAreTimesIFeel - Caitlin appears to die, Savitar and Barry have a difficult conversation about what he would do to get her back, revealing his feelings he’d kept hidden.

chapter9v2-OutsideEternity - Savitar’s paradox fix is tech in this and it fails several years after he join S.T.A.R. Labs, long enough that people are attached to him and Cait won’t give up on getting him back, no matter what she has to do. I don‘t even know if this will have a happy ending.

chapter10v2-PlacesYouveNeverBeen - role reversal SaviSnow, so Cait is the Flash and as Savitar was destined to kill Ronnie. Barry is Killer Frost (and Iris & Dr McGee were Firestorm). Usually Savisnow has background Westallen but for this should be interesting to do some Snowstorm since everything is swapped.

chapter11v3-DeserveYourSilence - this is rare unredeemed Savitar and less shippy I guess. During Savitar’s original timeline, when he suceeded in killing Iris on May 23rd and while DeVoe is about. DeVoe takes Frost’s powers away as in S4, so Savitar is left with a guiltridden Caitlin who doesn’t want to exist like that.

chapter12v1-BeforeYourTime - An expansion of Chapter 2 from WSITY, where Caitlin and Savitar have a fling and she gets pregnant, and they’re both very good at being ‘practical’ (and in denial). This is gonna be pre/post the ch2 events, but also actually their POVs and smutty too so won’t be in WSITY itself.

chapter13v3-SoMuchToSeparate - Savitar bonds with Caitlin but doesn’t fit in with Team Flash so goes to Team Arrow. Then Caitlin finally turns into Frost...

chapter14v1 - Savitar in the Speedforce rejects his destiny, gets Team Flash’s help breaking the loop/saving him from the paradox but he comes out like Barry in 4x01. Very much about Savitar healing, in this he never does anything bad to Team Flash of their timeline so they have no reservations helping and see him more as another Barry, but painfully so.

chapter15v2-LeftBehind - secret relationship but they know she is dating someone. Savitar is hurt badly and Iris figures out the who by how Caitlin reacts.

chapter16v2-EverythingThereIsToBeKnown - Savitar manages his backup plan as a main plan, achieving his ‘godhood’ split into all of time, but his mind, and Barry’s linked to his via Speedforce, can’t cope with it. Confusion about their knowledge of timelines because they both remember both their lives - one where Barry married Iris and one where surprisingly Savitar eventually married Caitlin.

chapter17v1-Critical Error - Savitar suceeds, becomes a God but it’s too much for his body, even metahuman as he is. He’s catatonic. They lock him up/care for him because it’s the right thing to do. Eventually Caitlin/Frost comes back to them and to him and they consider helping him, fixing his mistake.

Sea Of Expectations - Caitlin wins out over Frost earlier in S3, convinces Savitar to accept help earlier too and they offer wiping his memory to remove his suffering, but it isn’t so easy to wipe every consequence away, because it doesn’t remove how they react, or how he feels bodily. Kinda Dollhouse inspired.

One Way Or Another - this is the big multichaptered slowburn fic that goes AU from 3x18 with Cait not turning Frost and is kidnapped to try to achieve that by other means but she offers him help he takes instead. Deals with S4 events with Savitar present, plus revealing what original timeline S4 stuff was like for him

Condensed version is... 1) SaviFrost had matching tattoos in future which Cait learns about, 2) return of Music Meister for Savisnow and Hartmon, 3) Harry, Joe and Cisco POV’s on Savisnow, 4) Savitar’s mind unstuck in time due to a meta and lets slip future knowledge including being truly happy, and 5) 6 smut plot bunnies that I’m thinking of doing a new oneshot collection for called possibly “Trust And Other Negotiations“.

I should also take the moment to inform anyone reading this that I am extremely slow at writing. Extremely slow. I also have a tendency to get a lot of ideas and jump from idea to idea before fully working everything out. (This one is actually closest to being done, since it’s a one-shot, that I wanted to get done for Fr. Brown Ladies week but couldn’t get quite done in time but still would like to finish ASAP).

Strip Chess (Lewis--Hathocent)--Pretty much exactly what the title implies. There is a new chess table to be broken in. Jean uses any state of undress to her advantage. James is just flustered enough to be ever-so-slightly off his best game. (This fic is complicated by the fact that I know far too little about chess specifics).

Hathocent massage oneshot-- Which can basically be described as James gives Jean a massage and they both come out as bisexual. 

The Conference (Post-canon Hathocent)-- Hathaway and Innocent who haven’t seen or spoken to each other since Jean’s departure, find themselves attending the same London conference. There is some intitial tension, primarily because Hathaway never really said goodbye (primarily because he didn’t want to/didn’t know how to), and both are not really sure where this leaves them. There is some apprehension and misinterpretation, but eventually, they clear the air and discover each other.

Body Swap AU (TTOI--Malcola)--The morning after a particularly virulent fight about the other’s unreasonableness, Malcolm and Nicola wake up in each other’s bodies. They learn (and promptly forget) how difficult it is to be in one another’s shoes and experience really bizzarre and confusing UST in the process. 

Lady F and Mrs. McCarthy (Father Brown)-- When Felicia wants to  learn how to bake a cake  as a peace offering for her husband, she enlists the help of her friend, rival, and the best cook in the county.

Non-fic projects (also on backburner)

 Malcola gifset(s) set to  “It Was a ShitShow” (CXGF)--There are several moment/lyrics that I would think about making Malcola stuff for but the most likely/first one I’d do...

^ But this is complicated by the fact that I can’t find Hi-Res enough copies of S3, which I primarily plan to use (b/c “Stay” in 3x08 and also S4 is gross).

Father Brown Chestertonian Era AU-- I’ve wanted to a graphic/AU concept of the current BBC series in the original Chesterton (1920s-1930s) timeframe, but have always been having trouble finding majority of the cast in appropriate costumes. *Grumble, Grumble*
