Lowkey bitter that I found out about posting fic anonymously on AO3 just now and not like 5 years ago when it would’ve been useful. I could’ve used it to write the f*ckton of Hathocent smut I wanted but was scared to write under the cover of actual anonymity. Whereas now, I feel like people would just assume it was me, and I might have to fight the antis.

There are antis in this fandom?!
It’s not so much that there are actual legitimate antis that have made their presence known as it is that the fandom is SO completely dominated by Lewis/Hathaway and Lewis/Hobson/Hathaway shippers that I live in constant fear that antis will emerge from the shadows if too many fics that pair Hathaway with Not-Lewis start popping up.
That being said, there have been two or three uncomfortable moments of shipping based negativity that have popped up but that never actually escalated into anything. Mainly cause I tried not to acknowledge them too much and spent a bit of time developing a rebuttal in case I was ever asked to “justify” Hathaway/Innocent shipping and eventually it went away.

Honestly, while I’m happy that Laurence Fox is gonna be on Victoria, I’m much more excited about Victorian Era Hathocent AU stuff that I’ll be able to make when combining his episodes with Rebecca Front in Doctor Thorne.

as a bitter Robbie/Laura shipper that was almost flamed out of the ship by Lewis/Hathaway shippers over on LJ (years ago, yes I'm THAT bitter) I saw post all the Jean/James fic you can. THEY do not own the fandom.
That’s horrible. ;_; I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I never really got involved on LJ--partly because I noticed how Lewis/Hathaway centric it was and wanted to avoid drama, and partly because the ff-dot-net Lewis group was so much friendlier and more open to gen, other pairings.
Fortunately, the few dodgy experiences I’ve had as a James/Jean shipper tended to come more along the lines of “people ship THEM? wtf” than outright flaming, apart from a few negative fic reviews. I should also add that it took me like at least 4 years to feel comfortable publicly identifying as a Hathaway/Innocent shipper and upgrading the carefully hidden J/J subtext in my writing to full on text , because my little teenage, anxiety-ridden mind was scared of mean people on internet. (Of course, my adult-brain is still scared of that, just less so).

It’s missing Hathocent hours.
#even the l@zza ruined everything so much that i'm not actually going to revisit the ship/fandom#hathocent#i was just filled with sudden nostalgia/feelings#too bad one of the actors is so objectively terrible--in general and to the other in particular#that it's killed all of the joy it used to bring#well tbf it hadn't brought joy for awhile anyway at least compared to all the loneliness as well#also i'm so sorry for all of y'all who followed me for the morseverse fandom cause like...it's not coming back#unless l@zza has like a major breakthrough and realizes how terrible he's become and makes genuine and lasting amends#and on top of that; a ton of new hathocent shippers and/or fanworks descend upon us unexpectedly
