[Opening]

Credits. We see Ford alone in his house; in his study; walking down the hall; approaching the front door with a crossbow.

Don't mind the noise outside the door It's just a phantom, nothing more

Ford ducks his head out of the house, looking around for something he thinks he heard.

No need to give yourself a scare When you glance and no one's there

Once he's confirmed nothing's there, he shuts the door and sits up against it, breathing weirdly. Then, we see a Bill-shaped shadow moving around the room with him, though he doesn't notice.

I don't wanna have to hurt you

Ford takes a breath, then stands back up

It's not your fault, I felt his rage Just a child about your age

Flash back to the science experiment gone wrong, except it's wrong. Stan is actively ripping into the machine. The camera pans out to show it was Bill telling him this; the visions were in his eye the whole time.

But something drives me to this place I can see him in your face

Ford looks doubtful. He knows that's not how it happened, but instead of confronting the realization he was wrong about Stan, he chooses to keep it buried. He keeps going down the hall, towards the living room.

You'll never know the hell I've seen

He collapses on the chair, exhausted. His eyes slip close... then snap back open again. Uh oh.

Don't fear what's coming We can't fight off the urge inside

Bill, possessing Ford, basically prances through the house. He heads over to the secret door and punches in the code

It's dark and you're afraid of The devils that come out at night

He goes down the elevator, making it to the portal room. It looms ominously over him.

Let's make this easy

He pulls up all three journals and aligns them

Soon you'll haunt these beasts you hated

Bill is looking at Ford's six-fingered hand (the implication being he's talking about the people who made fun of Ford before)

No need for sleep tonight Sweet dreams are overrated

Bill pulls the lever, but the portal flickers uncertainly. He shakes his head, then heads back to the desk. He grabs sticky notes and a pen.

[Instrumental]

Ford wakes up in bed, finding a sticky note stuck to his face from Bill. He's confused, reaching up to grab it, and we see that his knuckles are bruised. Concerned, he gets up and heads to the kitchen. He makes himself a mug of coffee, downing it pretty fast, then glances back at his hand. It fades to a shot of the hand being bandaged up. Ford slips one of Fidd's gloves over it, then frowns, a mix of concerned and scared.

I'm just a whisper in the void No one's there, you're paranoid

At the diner, Ford is trying to order something, but he's clearly anxious. His foot is bouncing, and he keeps glancing at all the people around him warily.

I'm just a trick of your own mind

The people all become shadowy. They turn to look at Ford, yellow, slitted eyes gazing at him unblinkingly.

Blink your eyes once and you'll find I'm just a ghost inside your head

Ford slams his eyes shut. When he opens them, everyone is looking at him, but in concern now. it'd been a hallucination from Bill. Ford gets up as the waiter comes over with his order and guns it out of there.

Don't fear your fate that soon arrives

Ford's sitting on the floor of his study, hands on his head. He's breathing heavy.

It's a deadly lullaby

He looks up to see dozens of Bills watching him- drawings and other decor HE put there.

You'll be with us very soon Another spirit in the room

The bathroom. He's looking at himself in the mirror, noting the deep eyebags under his eyes. One could say he looks dead.

Take your place among the lost

He's alone. He's all alone and there is a demon in his head who wants him to end the world.

Don't fear what's coming

Bill again. He's possessing a bunch of zombies this time

We can't fight off the urge inside

Ford snipes him hell yeah

It's dark and you're afraid of

Ford gasps awake, finding ANOTHER sticky note.

The devils that come out at night

He slaps it on the bedside table next to a BUNCH MORE.

Let's make this easy

Ford pushes furniture in front of the secret door, even though he knows that won't do shit. it makes him feel like he's doing SOMETHING

Soon you'll haunt these beasts you hated

He downs an entire pot of coffee someone help this man

No need for sleep tonight

His heat has turned off. He's huddled in the living room, where puffs of air appear when he breathes- harder now.

Sweet dreams are overrated

He's fighting sleep so fucking hard right now

[Instrumental]

We see a montage, but centered around Ford as the camera spins around him. He's looking up, watching his world spin, then is falling. He catches himself on the kitchen table, downing more coffee. He stumbles back to his feet, before Bill circled around him. Sticky notes, sticky notes, sticky notes. There's hammers, the Memory Gun, the crossbow, various other weapons (all pointed at Ford), before the camera spins just right to point at Ford head-on again. Now, he's holding a VHS. He bends towards the camera and slips it into a VCR

You can't wake From this dream

Bill is taunting him. Ford grabs the edges of the TV in panicked anger.

No one will hear you screaming

Ford throws the VHS into a fire.

So hold on For the ride

Bill takes over forcefully. The world goes black around the two of them.

I'll take you with me tonight

PAIN. Pain, pain, pain. Ford falls.

This nightmare This prison

Bill floats in front of him, almost gloating, but moreso just upset

Inside the suits we live in

He grabs Ford's shirt collar and yanks him closer

Bill suddenly lets go. He drifts backwards, throwing his hands out.

We'll have sweet dreams forever

Close-up on his eye. He looks excited to the point of being unhinged.

[Instrumental]

Ford sits bolt upright, hands immediately going up to his eyes. They're still there. He stiffens, sorta going numb. After a moment, he drags himself to his feet. He heads down to the basement, grabbing the journals and a postcard. He scribbles something down, then heads out. He drops the postcard in the mailbox, then puts Journal 3 in the ground.

Bill in possession of Ford. He opens the front door and steps out into the snow

It's dark and you're afraid of The devils that come out at night

Ford wakes up, but he's on the roof of his house. He panics, falling to his knees to prevent himself from sliding off. He's breathing heavy, and finds himself pulling another sticky note from his coat pocket

Let's make this easy Soon you'll haunt these beasts you hated

Bill is holding a hammer. He positions a nail right above Ford's hand. He raises the hammer, then brings it down.

No need for sleep tonight Sweet dreams are overrated

Ford is holding his hand close, bandaged as best as he could, and he's shaking BAD. But, he's also tossing around a bunch of Bill-related shit. The bags under his eyes are designer.

Don't fear what's coming We can't fight off the urge inside

Ford with the crossbow. There's been a knock on the door. He looks wild and unkept. He grabs the handle and opens the door.

It's dark and you're afraid of The devils that come out at night

It's just Stan dw. Ford yanks him inside and checks his eyes.

They head downstairs to the portal room.

Ford shoves Journal 1 in Stan's hands, and Stan gets upset. We know where it goes from here.

The fight starts, though it's portrayed in still images. Around them is the interesting part. We see Ford's initial deal with Bill, the good times, the laughs, the vulnerability, before it turns into the horror we know it as today.

Stan shoves Ford into the portal. It's caught in slo-mo, with Ford assuming he's going to die here. After all, *Bill's* on the other side. This lasts about halfway through, before it snaps back to normal speed. Ford's gone. Stan can only look up at it, before reality snaps back. He runs to the lever, but he can't pull it. Ford's gone.

Yomiel’s exact moveset is still kinda stewing in there but I know his “weapon” is his Temsik fragment, his basic attack string is mostly smacking shit with the grabby arm he made in the Yonoa (pictured below), and I really want him to drop Mino on someone’s head and hurl a torpedo as two of his attacks (and maybe also shoot someone with a hard hat)

I’m Ro or No and I use she/he!! No preference for either name nor pronoun, use them interchangeably!!! Please!!!!

I mainly post about Professor Layton, but I’m technically multifandom! It’ll usually be stuff within the same realm (Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick, Zero Escape) but there’s a lotta other stuff I like and talk about sometimes! Been on a bit of a Mother kick recently, so I’ll be putting some stuff from that here too. I’m also a big Mob Psycho and Witch Hat Atelier fan! Sometimes those guys pop up too. And OC stuff. I write and draw and do cosplay! I’ll make more specific tags soon, but all my arts are under #roestuff (note: a lot of my art is p old! I haven’t had a ton of time to draw recently. Book Review - Heaven Official’s Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu) by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu

Heaven Official’s Blessing Blurb - Mo Xiang Tong Xiu

The novels, consisting of 241 chapters, 2050 pages, and a word count of 1.2 million, follow the adventures of Xie Lian, the former crown prince of a now-fallen kingdom, Xianle. Xie Lian ascended to godhood at the age of seventeen, but was banished, and when he ascended for the second time, he was banished again after half an hour. Now, he’s ascended for the third time, holding a record for most ascensions of any god in history. His ascension is so tremendous that the ground of the heavens quakes and lightning strikes, causing severe damage to golden palaces and buildings. He is sent to the Mortal Realm to aid humans in eradicating and investigating ghosts causing trouble, and all the thank you offerings would be counted under his name and go towards helping repay his debt.

The series switches from present time 800 years into the past, where Xie Lian’s backstory is revealed to be much more tragic than his bright personality may reveal. 

San Lang, the man he meets while riding a hay cart to his makeshift shrine in Puqi village, tags along on his adventures, and towards the end of the book, it’s revealed that he is actually Hua Cheng, also known as Crimson Rain Sought Flower, a ghost ranking “Devastation”, which is the highest, most dangerous ranking of ghost. On top of that, he ranks first out of the four Calamities, making him the most powerful ghost there is, and the ruler of ghost city.

Hua Cheng dedicates his existence to helping Xie Lian, though Xie Lian can’t begin to understand why. It was revealed later on that when Xie Lian was still a crown prince, eight centuries before, he had saved Hua Cheng, known as Hong-er at the time, from falling to his death from a building during a festival. Hong-er became enamoured with Xie Lian, and spent the rest of his life — and his afterlife — trying to prove his worth to the former price.

When it comes to Heaven Official’s Blessing, I really don’t think I have any critiques. It’s probably the most well-written series I’ve ever read before in my life. With fully developed characters and rich backstories, I really can’t find any faults in it. The attention to detail is immaculate. It’s filled with foreshadowing, and everything fits together perfectly in the end. You really can’t enjoy the series fully without reading it twice. 

Honestly, I feel like the first book kind of tricked me. I jumped headfirst into the series, thinking it would be a lighthearted queer romance, but everything after the first volume was really too depressing. I found myself genuinely crying at times, and I had never cried over a book before, it really was an experience. I think everyone should read this series at some point in their lives.

I think it’s only fair to start off with the protagonist, Xie Lian. At first glance, Xie Lian seems like a happy-go-lucky character, endlessly selfless and positive. However, there are subtle hints of his dark past, which become more and more apparent as the series progresses. 

Something I like about this series is even though it supposedly has a happy ending, it’s not absolutely perfect for everyone. There are a lot of characters that got the short end of the stick, which makes it so much more realistic. Friendships end, betrayals ensue, and some characters are left with permanently crippling wounds — both emotional and physical — that maybe could have been avoided if things had been thought through just a little bit more.

As someone who doesn’t usually like angsty books, I actually enjoyed the ending. It gave everything a neat closure and tied up all the loose ends. Everything fell into place perfectly, even arcs from the first book that didn’t really feel like they had much use at the time. 

Overall, I would rate this book a full five stars, and I highly recommend it.

it's time for me to talk about the second member of our group of three, Ghost! Below are Hollow Knight spoilers and a whole lot of text

Ghost is a quiet kid. They speak exclusively in sign language and telepathy, and in order to hear their telepathy they have to really trust you. They live with their three other siblings, Hornet, Greenie, and whatever Broken Vessel is gonna be named, and Hornet's mom, Herrah. She was nice enough to look after them. Ghost doesn't know about their real parents and they're fine with that.

They are an expert in somnipathy. I mean, they have a dream nail! Besides that, they know hydrokinesis but aren't especially good at it. Yet. Oh and also pyrokinesis and psiblast. Mostly as attacks. Think like their spells. You do not want to be around them when they use pyrokinetic descending dark.

One thing that happens after they meet Kirby and Hattie is the arrival of the Grimm Troupe (the aquatos have to share the campgrounds now). Hattie is 100% convinced Ghost is joining a cult by helping them. Basically what's going on is that Grimm is going to transfer all of his psychic powers to his child permanently, that's what the ritual is about. And because Ghost wields the dreamnail, they are selected to be part of the ritual. Hattie and Kirby are not allowed to participate, but they can watch the fight happen. They are not allowed to see the Nightmare King though, only Ghost can do that. But they are there for moral support each time Ghost gets dementestrated! Which is a lot! Also this is where Ghost gets their mask and cloak. Usually they wear jeans and a dark grey sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, but the first time they fight Grimm, Grimm switches out their sweatshirt for a grey cloak and gives them a mask that looks like canon Ghost's shell. They think it looks really cool.

Quirrel, Monomon, and Lurien are all agents too.

What about the finale of their arc? That would concern... the Radiance. She was a dangerous psychic criminal who specialized in lumakinesis and more. PK, one of the Motherlobe's agents, decided to contain her. She had escaped many times before, so what he did this time was that he trained his child Hollow into the perfect psychic soldier, and then tricked the Radiance into astral projecting into their mind, and was somehow able to trap her there. Her body is in physical jail, but her astral projection has been trapped in Hollow's mind for years. It's really taken a toll on them. Despite this, her influence is starting to leak free and hurt others, so Hollow's little sibling has to journey into their mind and fight the Radiance herself to free them. The Radiance at this point has been in Hollow's mental world for so long that she resembles her canon counterpart more than her human form. Ghost insists they have to do this, especially after finding out that Hollow is their sibling. Hornet helps too.

PK gets fired btw. He did that without permission from the Psychonauts.

How would you compare the ACOTAR ships to TVD ships? Some people say Feysand is like Delena.

This is SUCH A FUN ASK!! Don’t mind if I do! I’m going to compare the general dynamic of the characters as well as archetype/ story parallels.

This is a crossover post so SPOILERS FOR BOTH ACOTAR AND TVD BELOW.

Stefan-Elena-Damon = Tamlin-Feyre-Rhysand

I don’t mean to do Stefan dirty like this, but the parallels are really undeniable. Stefan and Tamlin both were the kind, caring, magical first introduction to this whole new world for Feyre/Elena. They fell in love with them easily and it was a pure, beautiful love but while they were in it there were darker (Damon and Rhys) forces pulling them in another direction. Both women loved these men SO fiercely and sacrificed for that love. Feyre fought the 3 trials with Amarantha where she ended up being helped by Rhys. Elena went looking for Stefan in his ripper days even though Klaus would kill her if he found her and she was helped by Damon. Both of them fought for this love but then once they had it back... either they or the man or both had changed too much from the trauma and their relationship simply couldn’t work anymore.

I totally agree with the Feysand= Delena point because I think they are both relationships that are very “this person over everyone else no matter what” and that is romantic, but at we see, can also be overbearing/toxic at times. They both do awful things that the heroine has to later learn their motives for and forgive them for. Damon “kills” Jeremy and tries to compel Elena to kiss him early on. He feeds Elena his blood against her will when Klaus might kill her but then he ultimately makes it right through self sacrificing hero acts. Rhys does... everything he did under the mountain and he doesn’t tell Feyre she’s his mate, but then he helps her heal after Tamlin and ultimately saves Prythian. Both characters are also haunted by an abusive relationship- Rhysand a sexually abusive relationship with Amarantha that he endured for 49 years and Damon and emotionally abusive/manipulative relationship with Katherine that defined his life for 150 years.

Damon has a quote in season 4 that I think really describes both couples. He says: “if you’re going to be bad, be bad with a purpose. Otherwise you just aren’t worth forgiving.”

Klaroline = Nessian

This one is more based on character interactions and a bit of my own bias. I struggled to find a TRUE nessian parallel couple but I think Klaroline is the closest for a number of reasons. Largely because Caroline and Nesta are very similar characters. Both start off as shallow, superficial mean girls who we get an early glimpse of their heart (Caroline crying and her I’m never the one monologue and Nesta being on Feyre’s side when she returns in ACOTAR) who then get changed into something they never wanted to be and it helps them grow and OWN THEIR P O W E R. Even Caroline’s stint as emotionless mess after her mom’s death parallels Nesta’s destructive actions after losing her father.

Cassian and Klaus both have the whole “I’m a worthless bastard that no one wants and I killed my father but I am STRONGER THAN EVERYONE so you can’t hurt me even though I’m really just a soft boi who needs love” vibe going on.

And the CHASE. That’s the biggest parallel here. These are both couples where this powerful man walked in and said “that one” re the beautiful woman who hated them and then did not give up. But with both of them it’s a gentle chase. Klaus knows that Caroline is constantly trying to trick him but he doesn’t care because he just wants to spend time with her and whenever she is in danger he is there on the DOUBLE and does things he doesn’t want to do for her (ex- graduation, hiding/ protecting Stefan in season 6). Cassian knows that Nesta is going through a hard time after ACOMAF and he flies up to the House of Wind every damn day to see her even when she pushes him away and he instantly goes into fierce general I will kill mode if anyone threatens Nesta. Also both couples are prone to lashing out at each other (Caroline “terrible people” line; Klaus with his biting. Cassian “everyone hates you”; Nesta with her well... being Nesta LOL)

Bonus points for pet names and relentless teasing when they aren’t trying to kill each other.

Quote for them is when Caroline tells Klaus “anyone capable of love, is capable of being saved” I think that also has big Cassian @ Nesta in ACOSF energy.

(PS I did consider Nessian being Steroline but 1. I fucking hate that ship and 2. Stefan was never there for Caroline during the hard times which is the anti Cassian AND I think the for me it’s always you vibe just fits the intensity of Nessian better)

Kennett = Elriel

I’m not tagging this Elriel so don’t COME FOR ME. In my opinion, these are both ships that had some fun ~tension~ and are kinda sexy/enticing. Kol with his love of witches and their little graduation ghost adventure and Azriel with his attraction to Elain and saving her from Hybern. BUT ultimately I think the most interesting thing about these ships was their convenience. I think fans liked to put Bonnie with Kol in fanfics because it was an easy way to make Bonnie understand Elena and Caroline’s choice for a dark boi and it was just convenient. Likewise I think that Elriel is convenient in writing to simply throw Elain with the other bat brother and tie everything up in a neat little ribbon.

Mabekah= Elucien

In this comparison Rebekah is Lucien and Matt is Elain. This was a couple where one person started off with bad motives (Rebekah wanting to kill Matt at the ball; Lucien plotting with Hybern) but they have genuine feelings for the person once they get to know/are mated to them and you see that person is a much more complicated character than we previously saw. Rebekah and Lucien are both lost, lonely, and struggling to find where they fit in while Matt and Elain are both struggling but ultimately the much beloved “sweet” character who everyone is willing to die to protect. At first the sweet character avoids the villain character like the plague, but eventually things turn around and they see past their previous bad actions.

BonEnzo= Gwynriel

Talk about characters who have some trauma to heal together. Enzo was literally kept in a cage by the Whitmore’s for 50 years and abused much like Azriel in his dungeon. Gwyn has had to make unspeakable decisions in order to protect the greater good and suffer the horrible consequences for it- losing her twin to protect those children much like how Bonnie lost her grams to protect Stefan and Elena. Enzo started off interested in Caroline (like Azriel and Elain) and getting over an obsession with Lilly (Azriel and Mor) but was ultimately drawn to Bonnie for her strength, determination, and good heart despite everything she had been through. These are really all just characters that have been through the RINGER and need to find healing in each other’s arms but would never admit that’s what they are doing so it just happens slowly and one day they realize things don’t hurt as much anymore.

AND FINALLY:

Damon and Caroline= Nesta and Tomas

You know why. Damon doesn’t get off that easy just because he “changed”. He abused Caroline and I won’t be pretending in 2021 that he didn’t.

Daud was drowning. The icy, stinking water of the Wrenhaven River grew darker and darker above his head as he sank further into its depths. Daud was a strong swimmer, but something had a hold of his legs, pulling him down. He looked below him and screamed. Hundreds, thousands of corpses clogged the riverbed, clinging to his legs, his arms, and tearing at his clothes with rotting claws. Water rushed into his throat, but he could not close his mouth or his eyes. The more he struggled, the harder the bodies gripped him. They were screaming, moaning, begging for mercy. The water became blood: the blood of every person he had ever killed. It was choking him, yet he could not die. The pleading eyes of the corpses turned black and Daud understood: he was already dead and this was his hell. Still he fought against it, trying in vain to break free and reach the surface, but the ghosts clung on, all of them wailing as one.

“Mommy!”

Daud woke up shaking, his stomach curdling. He sat up and dry heaved over his blankets, but nothing came up. He tore off his sweat soaked shirt and tried to stand. It took him several minutes to regulate his breathing and bring his mind back to reality. It was barely after sunset, judging by the faint light coming through the glass-less windows. Daud lit a cigarette and walked out onto his small balcony on the top floor of the Chamber of Commerce building. He took a deep breath, welcoming the cool air on his sweaty face. The Flooded District smelled of Weepers, dead rats, and whale oil, but it was a familiar smell, and lately, Daud had been latching onto anything even vaguely comforting. He was starting to think his assassins were right, and he was losing it. He could sense them losing confidence in him day by day, and he was grateful none of them were here right now to see him trembling, and sweating, wearing only his trousers: terrified of a dream. But as his mind grew clearer, it seemed odd that no one was around. Daud’s eyes scanned the rooftops carefully. There were no Whalers in sight. A different sort of unease pricked at the back of his mind, as he tossed his cigarette butt away. Instantly, he was alert: listening, watching. He tensed. His scarred hands gripped the iron railing, the Outsider’s Mark glowing faintly on the back of his left hand. Daud was about to turn back into his room when he heard a click behind him, and the cold metal of a pistol pressed against the base of his skull. 

He froze. There were only two people in the world that could sneak up on him undetected. Not sure which one he was dreading more, he spoke.

“Billie?”

“Yes.”

The shock of hearing her voice was colder than the hands of the nightmare ghosts. Daud now knew he would have gladly taken the Royal Protector over this; he would have taken anything over this. Daud’s mind was reeling, but he kept himself absolutely still, and his voice calm.

“You’re here to kill me.”

“Yes,” she said again, although it had not been a question. His dream came rushing back to him, and he was suddenly afraid. All these years he had often longed to die, but now a terrible thought occurred to him. What if these dreams were glimpses of what was to come? He never asked the Outsider, but he assumed that his spirit would go to the Void after his death. What if his fate was an eternity drowning in blood in the Void; tormented forever by those he had slain? 

I don’t want to die, he thought, almost frantically, I can’t die. His heart was beating hard, but still he remained outwardly calm. Billie kept her pistol at his head, but had not moved to pull the trigger. Daud took her hesitation as a good sign. This would not be an easy thing for her. Daud had not become the most feared man in the Empire through violence alone; he was as cunning as he was ruthless, and he had talked himself out of sticky situations almost as much as he had fought his way out. If he could somehow convince her to spare him…..

“Billie…” he began.

“Don’t try to talk your way out of this one, Daud,” Billie said. Her voice was clear; she wasn’t wearing her mask.

“You know me too well, Lurk,” he said wryly.

“Shut up, I know what I’m doing and you’re not going to change my mind.” The slightest tremor ran up her arm; Daud could feel it through the pistol point. 

“Kill me then,” Daud said. She did nothing. Daud took a chance, and turned slowly around to face her. She did not lower the pistol, but neither did she fire. Billie’s eyes were wide, but there was a determined set to her jaw. It was an expression he knew well. She had the same look when they had first met, and she had dared to face him: clearly frightened and yet too stubborn to back down. 

“Can at least ask why I’m about to die?” He looked her in the eye.

“You’re weak,” she replied coldly, “and old. This outfit needs a new leader. Someone to get us through this plague, and the chaos you caused by killing the Empress. I don’t want to do this, but it has to be done.”

“Does it now?” Daud snapped. There was an awful pain in his chest. Worse than any physical wound he’d ever had. It was a pain he hadn’t felt since he realized he would never see his mother again. “I always assumed one of you would kill me and take my place,” he said more softly, “ I just never thought…” He couldn’t finish his sentence. He knew he was too compromised to get out of this one by talking, Billie was much too close to him and had learned all his tricks over the years; the realization made him sick. He had never felt so vulnerable. 

“You’re right, Billie,” he said, “I always thought of myself as clever, but clearly I was a fool for ever trusting you.”

Billie smiled her little apologetic smile; the one she would wear when he scolded her for killing one guard too many, and she knew he didn’t really mean it.

“There’s more to it,” she said, “you deserve to know the truth. The woman you’ve been seeking, Delilah,”

“What about her?”

“She…..came to me, a while back. She offered me so much…...showed me a new way to see; she gave me so much more than you ever did. More than you could ever hope to give.”

Daud could hear the contempt in her speech and it hurt. But now anger was starting to burn in his veins. Of course it all came back to her. Delilah. She had taken his best fighter, his best friend even, certainly the only person he cared about in the world, and turned her against him. A familiar itch clawed it’s way down his arms, making his fingers twitch and ache for a blade. The sun went down behind the buildings, and the Flooded District was doused in the cool grey glow of twilight.

“The power she has, Daud,” Billie was saying, “you can’t even imagine. She’s stronger than you, stronger than anyone I’ve ever known. And all I have to do to be at her side is…..get rid of you.”

She stared at him and her eyes were sad. Daud’s head was pounding.

“I’m sorry, Daud,” Billie said. 

“Me too,” he said. 

Daud’s hand flashed up and grabbed Billie’s arm, forcing it to the side. Her shot went wide, and he twisted her arm hard. She gave a gasp of pain, and the pistol fell over the railing into the muddy water far below. Daud transversed past her back into his room. He snatched his sword up from beside his bed, there was no time to grab anything else. Billie drew her sword. The metal floor was cold on Daud’s bare feet as they circled each other for a moment; the Outsider’s Mark burned hot. Billie sent a wristbow bolt at his head, and he dodged, then drove forward with a quick thrust at her midriff. She blocked it just in time, and pushed back against his blade. She stomped down on the top of his right foot with her boot, the pain made him falter and she beat his sword aside and punched him in the face. Daud hopped backward, ducking as another bolt flew over his head. He spat out a mouthful of blood with a curse, and then transversed behind her and struck. She turned and parried, and he blocked her retaliatory slash. They battled back and forth across the metal walkway that served as Daud’s bedroom for what seemed like an hour. It was hard to measure time during a fight. But Daud was the better swordsman, and he was closing on Billie when she crouched, opened her mouth, and screamed. 

The sound was like a physical force. It lifted Daud up off his feet and sent him tumbling over the railing into his office below. He landed hard on his desk. For a brief moment he lay stunned; the air knocked out of him. Then her heard the sound of Billie blinking down next to him and jumped up as quickly as he could. He wasn’t quite fast enough. Her sword missed its target of his neck, but cut his shoulder to the bone. The pain of it spurred his desperation, and he attacked with everything he had left. Billie was never taken off guard, but his fury did seem to rattle her some. He managed to get in a few cuts of his own in as her first few blocks came too slow. But against her padded leather whaler suit, the damage was nowhere near as bad as when she hit him. Soon he was bleeding heavily from wounds to his forearms and chest, in addition to his shoulder,and his strength was starting to fade. He could barely lift his sword arm high enough to parry her strikes. He curled his Marked hand into a fist and sent a call out through the Void, but no assassins appeared. Billie must’ve told them ahead of time what she planned, and killed anyone who objected. Daud wondered if Thomas was dead, or if he had also turned against him. He retreated across the room. He tried one of the doors, thinking of escape, but they were barred from the other side.

Of course he thought grimly. He spied the open window behind his desk, and blinked over to it, using the last of his energy. He turned to locate her before he jumped. Billie was standing in the middle of the office. She raised her hand, and sent a shower of several shadowy darts flying at him. He blocked some with his sword, and covered his face with his other arm. But there were too many. One went through his thigh, three into his unprotected guts, and one into his chest. It had missed his heart he know, or he would already be dead, but he could tell it had punctured his lung. He fell to one knee, struggling to breathe. Billie came towards him, but stopped at his desk, just out of reach. Daud still gripped his sword tightly. She approached him slowly. He attempted one last weak slash, but she grabbed his wrist and wrenched the sword from his hand. Gently, she set it down on his desk. 

“It’s over, Daud,” she said quietly. 

“Looks like it, huh? I taught you too well,” he laughed, and blood came bubbling up his throat. He choked and coughed, the blood spattering down his bare chest and onto the wooden floorboards. He slumped back against his bookshelf. Billie stood watching him. When he looked up at her again, her eyes were wet. Daud had never once seen her cry. And yet, staring into her eyes, Daud knew she was still going to go through with it. He wasn’t ready to face the Void, but, now that it seemed inevitable, he wasn’t so afraid as before. There was no point. The best he could hope for was that he was wrong, and that there was nothing after death. And the worst…..Daud wondered if it was possible to fight ghosts in hell. He wanted to laugh again, but it hurt too much. Blood leaked steadily from the holes in his gut. 

“It was always going to end this way, Daud,” she said, “You and me. It’s our nature. But you’re not as weak as I thought.”

“Thanks,” Daud coughed again. The pain was agonizing. “Could you find it in you to end it quickly?” he gasped out. Billie continued to stare at him, unmoving. Daud didn’t know how long it was going to take to die, maybe up to an hour depending on how bad the wound in his chest was, maybe even longer.  But maybe that was all part of it. He never thought Billie hated him so much. He tried to reach up to her and she flinched back, still wary.

“I’m not going to fight you anymore, Billie, I just need you to do it now. If you ever had any….feeling for me at all, don’t let me die like this, make it a clean death.” She still did nothing, looking at him almost in disbelief now, as if she didn’t quite trust what she was seeing. “Billie, please,” Daud said, “don’t make me beg.”

Without a word, Billie took his sword from the desk and knelt down so she was level with him. She reached out and cupped his face in her gloved hand, and then drove his sword into his heart with all her strength. He convulsed once as his life bled away.

“Sorry, Daud,” Billie whispered. 

Her whisper went on and on and turned into the haunting hiss of runesong, which became the mournful cry of whales. The pale blue light of the Void crept over his sight, obliterating everything else, and the Knife of Dunwall was dead.

Pokemon Verse - Teams

Yes, this is what I’ve been doing at the moment. I’ve been working on a Pokemon verse. I haven’t got much down, but I just know what the tag name for it will be called; “My Type of Guy | Pokemon Verse.”

I’ve also established that it will apply to all three of the muses on this blog; Bill, Antonio, and Azrael. Bill and Azzy are from Galar, and Antonio is from Kalos. Bill and Azzy are also still vampires in this verse. 

I’ve also got their teams listed below the cut, which other than regions of origin, is all I have on them. However, please be aware of possible spoilers (mainly for Pokemon that newly appear in Galar) underneath if you click.

Divine (named after the art of divination through tea leaves) has been with Bill since he was a child and his later turning into a vampire over eight hundred years before. He’s able to drink Divine’s tea without being sick as well. He’s glad to have at least one team member be able to live all these years with him. The rest of the Pokemon have been caught recently or are descendants of previous team members. 

Princess is also able to sense when Bill is soon to enter an episode and warns him accordingly.

Erickson is the only male Pokemon on Antonio’s team. The rest are all girls. They also like to help with his magic tricks and performances, as well as help him with his work and moving around.

Synopsis:

This drama is also known as Hwayugi.

Jin Seon Mi is a human child who can see ghosts and other creatures beyond the sight of a normal person. Due to this, she was able to see and recognize a monster named Mawang in a guise of a human. She saw him drive away the ghosts who was chasing after her with the use of an umbrella. When Mawang realized that she can see him, he made her go to the marble mountains to retrieve something of importance and in exchange he will give his umbrella that Jin Seon Mi wanted from him so she can protect herself. However, instead of retrieving what Mawang requested, she accidentally released a different monster disguised as a human being. The monster called himself Son Oh Gong who was previously a deity equal to the heavens. In the process of releasing him, they exchanged a promise that Son Oh Gong will protect her if she calls out his name, but he tricked her by removing the memory of knowing his name and so he was able to get away from her.

Years later when Jin Seon Mi was in her 30’s, she has once again crossed paths with Mawang and Son Oh Gong. This time, she has become the “Samjang”, a human who has the scent of a lotus flower which could only be smelled by monsters. This makes her the ultimate human prey which makes a monster become strong with the taste of her blood and if they eat her, they become powerful as well.

Destiny made Seon Mi and Son Oh Gong meet for a higher purpose in the future but the deities never expected that the samjang would fall in love with the monster and so their story is told.

  Words from Me:

When my cousin recommended this drama and told me that it’s a really good show and worth the watch, I had some second thoughts since she said there was a catch, the show consists of monsters and supernatural beings that could be quite scary. But since I was able to survive the drama Master’s Sun, I was okay with this.

For a hyped drama such as Hwayugi, it definitely lived up to its expectations. This drama is totally my cup of tea because I love all elements of fantasy, action, drama, comedy and romance. The story isn’t lacking either and it never felt rushed. I also think that the script was well thought of because there are so many quotable quotes in this drama especially from Son Oh Gong. There might be bits of loop holes here and there in the storyline but it’s forgivable because the ending made it all seem senseless. Though the series was a typical horror-drama-romcom type wherein a human can see ghosts, monsters and other entities, the thing that set this drama aside from the rest was the execution of all the characters, including the supporting casts. The all the actors where really good and nobody looked too stiff. It was as if the roles where made for them.

  A lot of people thought that the final episode felt like a cliff hanger or that it needs a second season, but for me, there is finality in the story between Jin Seon Mi and Son Oh Gong. If ever they plan on making a part two, I think it is going to be a different story all together. There were several things that surprised me upon watching this drama which I need to put under a spoiler tag (please see below of this post) because my thoughts are connected to major incidents that happened to the characters.

The cinematography was very pretty along with the OST. I would probably remember the songs and associate it with certain scenes from this drama if it gets played out of the blue on the radio or wherever. I would also re-watch this in the future if I forgot the details and wanted to be reminded of how cool the main characters where. Over all I’d rate this drama 9/10 and would highly recommend it to anyone who’s not a scaredycat.

One of the things I noted and got me confused was when the octopus prince named Ok Ryong inhibited a female body, an actress called Alice. It was really weird when he-Ok Ryong fell in love with PK just because the woman he’s possessed liked PK, the thought that his feelings got swayed simply because he was inside a woman was really a tricky thing. Because of that he gave up his life for him… so basically what he felt was really genuine, right? Another one is Summer Fairy, since she’s sharing General Winter’s body the guy had to cross-dress which is another taboo for Kdramas. We don’t usually see guys cross dressing in Kdrama world.

Finally, the scene when the main character died shocked me. Literally died and had no sense of being reincarnated soon. I know that Samjang is actually destined to die but usually, KDrama land makes the main characters survive or get into the cycle of reincarnation, ie. Goblin. Does this drama ring a bell?

The fact that the writer wasn’t shy to portray about LGBT or kill off main characters was a huge thing. Usually, KDramas try to pacify things and generalize to fit whatever seems alright for the viewers, however in this series, they just went on the roll and disregarded the norm. This was a great surprise and made the drama more appealing.

Big Mouth

Yes! And also probably the most unproblematic ‘no’ I could give (there’s a lot of ghosts, of which one is queer). 

However, that doesn’t mean this is a show with good queer representation. Yes, even though episode 3 exists. Warning, if you click below it’s spoiler city.

Big Mouth is a show about puberty, which is a horrible, awkward word, and I guess that’s fitting. I’ve watched this show in its entirety, and I still don’t entirely know how I feel about it. It does manage to do some things quite well; there’s a very early, very odd, conversation about how homosexuality is all well and good... 

And so is sexual experimentation, though the ‘B’ word is, of course, not mentioned (the ‘B’ word is bisexuality). The oddness of the conversation is not under any criticism here, because it’s a weird show. So, you know, it’s a little bit SNL meets PSA, but that’s tonally consistent.

However, it also aims for some targets that aren’t as broadly acceptable as they used to be. Once upon a time, a writer might be able to argue that they didn’t know any better. Those days are past. Meet this guy:

Hello indeed! 

Up to this point, most characters’ names are mentioned at least in passing. They have their own little quirks (Andrew and his Hormone Monster), and their interests (Missy with her Social Studies themed dance, and Jay with his magic tricks). This young man is the first person outside the main and supporting-main cast to show up. What’s his thing?

He’s gay. His thing is that he’s gay. 

It’s a very specific gay though. He’s sassy and out, and exists entirely to dress well and throw out pithy one liners. He’s not a person, he’s a pint-sized stereotype. It was better than nothing in the nineties, and it was old in the oughts (fucking Modern Family). I had hoped we’d seen the last his ilk on our screens. 

Roughly ten minutes after his introduction we find out his name is Matthew.

Does he have interests? Does he love anything or anyone? What’s his home life like? I’unno. Pretty much every other minor character has an arc of some kind (Lola gets some moments to herself during the sleepover episode). Matthew doesn’t. He just pops up occasionally, and the more he does the sadder it makes me. I just wanted him to be a person, ok?

Which brings us to episode three, “Am I gay?”. 

This is probably the first plotted story I’ve ever seen about figuring out your sexuality, that wasn’t played for tragedy. The arc begins with Andrew getting a boner over Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson as Paul Bunyan (who doesn’t love the Rock?). Andrew, in spite of his prior interest in women, comes to question whether he is gay. 

1. I acknowledge that the show was trying to normalize exploration of identity. Some of us do think we’re attracted to people not of our gender and at an end of the continuum because that’s what’s modeled to us throughout our entire lives. It happens. It’s not uncommon. It’s ok to explore your identity, and see what labels work for you (if any do). However...

2. We all know what bisexuality is, and it’s never mentioned. I was actually expecting it to be a plot point later in the episode, because the Hormone Monster’s advice is terrible, and so he’d initially leave it out. I was wrong.

3. The fact that the episode doesn’t mention the word bisexuality at all* is bi-erasure. Bisexual people exist, and the show really should’ve had someone tell Andrew that he might be bisexual, and not gay or straight. 

*I lied, bisexuality shows up once in the credits version of the gay song.

There’s a nice arc in there about thinking he’s attracted to his best friend, because he feels close to him. Unfortunately that arc is directly after this:

Freddie Mercury, our Lord and Savior, was a bisexual man. He had well-documented relationships with people of at least two genders. He is one of the most prominent queer icons of the previous century, and his identity should not be erased. We should not be fucking that up in 2017. 

I’m not even going to touch the Antonin Scalia thing. The “if he’s a homophobe, he’s secretly gay” trope can go die in a fire. 

Oh, god damnit... What do you think the ‘B’ stands for??

Freddie’s still bi and trans and intersex people exist...

The final instance of queerness that’s addressed in the show, comes in the form of an affair between Shannon (Jessi’s mother) and another woman. It’s handled pretty well for the most part. Shannon’s issues with her husband Greg, their lack of intimacy, the burden she bears in performing the brunt of the work raising their daughter, and his regular drug use, are juxtaposed with the sacrifices he has made, and the emotionally abusive manner in which she sometimes speaks to him. It is very clear that their relationship has been on a downturn for a very long time, and it is equally clear that Shannon is not performing a morally acceptable act by cheating on her husband, even if her decision is understandable. There is nuance in the relationships involved, and homosexuality is not placed on any pedestal (which... has a tendency to happen in cheating narratives). 

And there’s a very well placed musical number during which people perform the electric slide.

I hope that’s not true, but carry on.

In short, this show is a mixed bag. They do try to address how confusing exploring your sexuality can be. There are no tragic elements to this exploration. Nobody’s killed (you can see what I mean by the unproblematic ‘no’, since Freddie is an historical figure, as are most of the ghosts on the show), but the queer characters on the show are reduced to their queerness, only implied to be bisexual (A WORD THAT WILL NOT BE USED), grossly misrepresented, or committing adultery. Kudos for having more than one queer character, but you know, maybe we could’ve given Matthew an arc? And not erased all the bisexual people? Because bisexual people suffer enough? I have not covered all the casual transphobia with enough depth, but trans people too, deserve better than this. These problems are easily avoidable (Brooklyn 99 puts the effort in).

This post has focused on how Big Mouth treats queer people, but queer people are certainly not the only minorities that get shafted unexpectedly and with little context. At the season one cliffhanger for Season one of Umbrella Academy Five uses his powers to help his family and himself escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse. In an effort to go back in time and fix the apocalypse. The time jump scatters the siblings in time in Dallas, Texas. The siblings are left on their own, except for Klaus who is still able to connect to Ben’s ghost. In the first episode of the second season we find out that Klaus has been using his powers to trick people into believing he is a prophet and starts a cult. Which is why we find him in this very interesting outfit. His cult believes he is some sort of enlighten guru and they follow him around hanging on his every word.

Sunglasses

Klaus’ sunglasses may or may not be vintage. But they are definitely vintage-inspired. We found two possible options for Klaus’s sunglasses. It’s hard to tell from the production photos what the side of Klaus’s sunglasses looks like. But there does seem to be a dark-color towards the back. The Modern Oversize Semi-Rimless Gradient Color Flat Lens Square Sunglasses 69mm – Gold / Orange Yellow – CH183NH2XTE by voguessglasses.com and the Square Sunglasses UV Protection Metal Frame Unisex Eyewear Square Lenses Ultra Lightweight Metal Glasses for Driving from newegg.com seem to be a close match.

Well cosplayers, this is where you have to get creative. You are going to need find a large gold starfish that necklace. You’ll need to add white, brown and blue beads to it. And if your starfish necklace is not gold, you may need to paint/coat it.

According to the artist who help redesign the Klaus Hello & Goodbye hand tattoos; along with every other tattoo found on Klaus post Vietnam. The Sky Soldiers shoulder tat, the back tiger tat, and the Thai temple abdomen tat were all original sketches by @thebrownartist. The temple tattoo reads UA – Klaus loves Dave.  You can find most of Klaus’s tattoos on Etsy. But the stomach tattoo isnt readily available at this time. You can try your hand at drawing it based on the images below. Or you can try using printing the image on to temporary tattoo paper.

Dog Tags

Klaus wears Dave’s (his love intrest from season one) identification tags around his neck. He says it’s all he had left of Dave. In 1906 United States government decided upon aluminum disc to be worn as an identification tag, and by 1913 the identification discs were required for all military service members. You can get your own custom set of Dog Tags by ordering them online. There are plenty of retailers available for this or you could try DogTags.com.

  These ‘Duke’ Bike Toe Zipper Boots from the Flosheim Shoe Company are a close match to what Klaus is seen wearing in episode one of season two “Right Back Where We Started”. They even have similar stitching and bottoms. The heel in the production photos looks shorter and possibly a darker color.

The Coat

This coat is the pièce de résistance and will probably be the hardest to come by. It is a creme colored jacket with a decorative teal/blueish trim, flower appliques and intricate beading on the cuff and collar. It wont be something you’ll be able to find online for a few months. Hopefully after the popularity of season two hits, there will be plenty of cosplay sites that will feature this outfit. In the meantime, I have some search terms for you to try:
