Unraveled: B&N Virtual Event Summary
There are no unraveled spoilers; since we're re-covering a period of time we've already seen, there are references to specific events in Stellarlune
Shannon Messenger was accompanied by B.B. Alston, author of Amari and the Night Brothers, who asked the questions
Enjoy! (Quil note: this might be one of the best ones, lads đ)
Shannon has pre-release jitters. Even though she's done this so many times, she'll never not be nervous
It's a different book with a different POV. She's just as excited as she is panicked. "I contain multitudes!"
Why is this 9.5 instead of 10? Why a Keefe book? Is this part of a bigger story or just a fun bonus? It's a little of both. Keefe fans are gonna love a whole book about him, but Shannon never would have taken attention away from the main story if it wasn't essential for the series, since everyone's anxious for book 10.
Be patient! She's never written a 10 book series before. She's "trying to build a bridge while crossing it."
Keefe wasn't just eating human food having fun, though Shannon would've written 800 pages of snacking if she could.
What he got up to Shannon planned/outlined that it would all come out in book 9 when he was back, but, "No, Keefe is not ready to share these secrets. There's reasons why he's gonna keep this hidden."
"That's a problem for future Shannon!"
But then everything future Shannon tried with book 10 didn't quite work. This is Keefe's story, and KOTLC is limited to Sophie.
In order for Sophie to know, Keefe would have to sit down and talk it out with everyone, and he wasn't quite ready to do that when Shannon needed him to.
So, special 9.5! So we can live that time with Keefe, see what he does, where he goes, who he meets, what he uncovers.
This way readers will be much more familiar with it when we get to all that in book 10--for the first time ever, readers will actually know more than Sophie!
Shannon confirms we're getting Keefe's middle name--she debated with herself, thought about keeping that secret forever, but she wants there to be big pay-offs in Unraveled. And what book could be more perfect for this?
Was it hard to write from Keefe's POV? Usually his voice comes super easily, so Shannon was expecting it to be word-vomit. But throughout the book and especially at the beginning, he's not himself. Everything he's been through has changed him, made him afraid of himself, more quiet and reserved. How does she balance making this interesting when her jokester character won't talk!
It was interesting diving into his head to see where he's at and why he's acting different. And it was interesting flipping it--Sophie's a fish out of water in the Lost Cities, but this time Keefe's the fish!
She had to keep reminding herself all this stuff familiar to her is new to him. "Flaming Hot Cheetos??? Is that food...????"
How has Keefe changed the most since book 1? In some ways he's lost his confidence. He's discovered a lot that's made him question if he's good, if he's causing problems, if he's putting people at risk. In his head he's not nearly as much the casual, lighthearted guy he seems.
He's also matured. He really had to step up and say, "Okay, it's time to take action. I can't just goof around. I've got the fate of the world on my shoulders in some way too." He's also trying to protect his friends and feels very personally responsible. His burden is a lot heavier than it used to be.
What's his favorite part of the human world? He definitely enjoys the human pop culture. Seeing how humans depict elves, certain (not all) human foods.
Lot of fun for Shannon as a snacker, but he's vegetarian, which makes it harder. He can't have fried chicken--but not every scene is about food.
Any places Shannon knew she had to send Keefe? She prefers to write places she's been if possible; in fantasy, if you can get the real accurate, it makes the fantastical that much more believable. So she started with places she's been, but she hasn't been nearly enough to cover all this. So she included places she'd like to, places she knows other people have been so she can get details from them.
(itty bitty seriously small spoiler from Shannon) Keefe starts looking for libraries, so Shannon googled cool libraries and went down that rabbit hole.
Keefe's been crushing on Sophie since the moment they met. What's does he like the most about her? (Lot of hearts in chat). "Keefe appreciates that Sophie is such a different perspective. He really sees that she doesnt necessarily see herself accurately, but he understands her. He can see why sheâs harder on herself with her upbringing, the bad thoughts she heard. He realized she doesnât always understand herself."
Heâs also really impressed by how brave and strong she is, and how sheâs willing to risk her life and do the thing when everyone's like Sophie don't do the thing! And sheâs like I must do the thing! Keefe thinks, âWow canât stop her from doing the thing!" It'd be great if she stopped ending up in the healing center, but he appreciates her for doing it despite the consequences. Admires her for it. He really wants to be worthy of how amazing he thinks she is. (More hearts in chat)
Can we confirm Keefe's POV of the kiss? Yes! Shannon almost wasn't able to do it. Unraveled was supposed to release November 12, but then her kids, "caught every possible virus they could possibly catch." Plus, publishing takes time, so they had to move it back. Those extra days allowed her to squeeze in the bonus story and she had a lot of fun writing it.
She knew she couldn't continue the book past when he leaves the human world, but she knew readers would really want it. She understands if you skip to the end to read it first--and there shouldn't be too many spoilers if you do, but she still recommends going from the beginning.
Why did it take Sophie and Keefe so long to get to the kiss? Did you know it would be in Stellarlune or did it happen naturally? Shannon tries not to pre-plan emotional things because it makes it feel forces. As the author she's in charge of the plot, not the emotions. Every time Sophie almost dies, that's her, but how Sophie feels about almost dying is all Sophie.
So anything emotional like this, Shannon's checking in with Sophie, and, "She really wasn't ready to see this was an option for her--she really was in the Great Foster Oblivion. She had no idea that Keefe liked her, and she wasn't the type to start developing feelings without having that piece of the puzzle. She genuinely thought Keefe was just teasing and was a flirt with everything. She didn't think it was something to take seriously."
She also had her eye on someone else for quite some time, so the story had to wait until Sophie was ready to take that step. Shannon discussed it with her editor a lot
Every week they have a zoom meeting to talk through the plot. They thought Stellarlune was probably the book for the kiss, but Shannon didn't know for sure until she got to that chapter. She's very proud of Sophie for being brave enough to take that step and bring the walls down.
The fact it took so long and tortured readers wasn't on purpose--"Torturing my readers is fun, but I wouldn't do it unnecessarily!"
It was interesting going back to write the kiss from Keefe's POV. She was worried as she did that though Sophie was ready for it now, what if Keefe wasn't? But, "then it was like oh, no, nope heâs on the same page." Keefe was screaming "FINALLY!!!" in his head.
How different is KOTLC now from how you first imagined it? The problem they're dealing with is fundamentally built into their world--it's not just an evil villain who decided to take over. "Multiple rebellions are going on because there are some fundamental injustices that have been ignored and ignored and ignored. And two groups have said enough is enough."
She always knew they'd have to reckon with this--in some ways they have, but there's more to come. But she also always leaves room for ideas to grow. Her first ideas aren't her best; they're too obvious. Now she's had a lot of time to think Keeper through.
Even still, she worries about doing it justice and, even with a plan, never knows for sure what will happen until she sits down to write it.
Shannon returned the question to B.B. He said the same thing--at a certain point as the story grows, you can really do so many more things, you have so many more villains. It builts the characters and relationships.
Shannon takes a moment to recommend B.B.'s series, Amari and the Night Brothers. She can't sing it's praise enough. "After you race through Unraveled, race through this!" There are 3 books out with 2 more to come. Maybe more.
10 books is a lot--how does Shannon do it? This is part of why she has those weekly zoom chats. But she's constantly going back to look things up, making lists of unanswered questions, listening to the audiobooks. It's all daunting. "It's all chaotic. Wonderful, glorious chaos. That's what I'm telling myself."
Readers are anxious to get back to Keefe and Fitz. How awkward would a conversation be now? Oh yeah. They've had to be around each other since all of that, but that haven't had to openly acknowledge it. But Shannon can feel the scene on the horizon and can't avoid it forever--though Keefe would love to. "Peace out!" Given Fitz's temper, Shannon fully expects there to be yelling, but sometimes he surprised her. We'll see once she gets there.
When Shannon gets too specific in outline, it sucks the life out of her story. She needs to know the rough order of the plot--this threat, then this thing, this this reveal. But the little emotional beats are more up to the characters. Talks this through with her editor too.
Can you tell us anything about book 10? Would love to be like it exists and it's coming out tomorrow! Sadly, still writing it and doesn't know the exact release date. She promises she'll get it to us as soon as she can. Obviously we left Stellarlune on a huge cliffhanger and Unraveled answers some questions but doesn't deal with it at all.
"Keefe's secrets...secrets do have a way of coming out." He can't hide them forever and it'll take something big to motivate him to come clean. "Wow, that's the most non-answer. I swear answers are coming!"
Is there any news on the movie? Earlier this year they announced Warner Brothers got the rights and Emma Watts is the producer. Currently Emma is working hard to get everything behind the scenes in a row to give the movie the best possible chance it has to get greenlit and made since it'll be so expensive.
Shannon thinks this team is one of their best shots at it happening. There's still a bit of finger crossing, but it anyone can make it work, it's Emma Watts.
Shannon is NOT writing the screen play. She's got book 10 to write, plus she doesn't think she can be objective about the changes that'd need to be made to adapt it. She's too attached. She wants to give input and suggestions, but wants something with more screenwriting expertise and distance from the story.
B.B. doesn't want to write his screenplay either--it's a totally different skill.
What's your best advice for new writers? Ooh, okay. 9 times out of 10 when a young writers asks for advice, Shannon asks "Have you written your book yet?" And the answer is no. They're just thinking about writing a book. So her advice: focus on writing! Finish that book! You can't be a writer unless you write! Then revise and revise and revise. "The work is not done when you get to the end."
When you have the best book you could possibly have, then think about next steps and publishing. But for now...write!
Shannon returned the question to B.B., who says to read widely. Read as much as you can to build up your story skills. Find what you like. As KOTLC readers, we've seen in the story how to develop characters and plots and arcs.
He also says don't put pressure on yourself. Write for the fun of writing, so even if it never goes anywhere, you still have something you're proud of.
"Once it's a job it's a job. It's different."
Shannon doesn't find books on writing helpful for her; they're procrastination. Instead she reads and asks herself what's working and why--why am I enjoying this so much?
She learned the most from books she didn't like. She asked herself why she wasn't into it--which doesn't mean there was anything wrong with it. It was personal preference, which helped her find her writing voice. She likes a lot of dialogue, a lot of humor, cliffhangers, etc.
School may ask you to read things you don't like; as a writer, take it as an opportunity to pick it apart and find out why.
How do you come up with character names? Baby name books. By the time she had to name her own kids, she was already an expert. She likes names to match the character.
Sophie was going to be named Alexandra because it means helped and defender of mankind, but it was too on the nose. She wasn't an Alex, or Alexis, or even an Alexandra
Sophie means wisdom, which is what she gives to her world. "No pressure, right?"
Fitz is from Fitzroy, which means son of the king, and his family is almost like royalty.
"Keefe means handsome. *shrugs* So. Obvious there." The book she got it from said "good-looking one" specifically.
It's the same for B.B. He likes to look at the year the character was born and what was popular, too. Amari means inner strength, and a big part of her story is learning she's more than where she's from and to believe in herself
How does it feel to write from a new POV? Would we maybe get a Fitz book? Shannon's learned to never say never. The story could throw her another curve ball, she might do a short story in his POV. If the story dictates she needs to step into anyone else's shoes, she will. "I've gotten this far by trusting the story."
Who was Shannon's favorite author/book when she was 12? Shannon grew up before the big children's media boom, she she didn't have a lot of options. She did like the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
"You have no idea how lucky you are there's so many great stories out there. Different POVs, more characters that look like more people--though still need more work on that front."
For B.B., he was a huge fan of Charlie and the Chocolate factory--but he also didn't have much to pick from.
When Shannon was around 12, she also fell out of love with reading. She had a 7th grade teacher who was very strict about reading "at your level." And she decided Shannon was at college level, so kept giving her older books like Crime and Punishment, Little Women, etc.
While Shannon appreciates the classics, they weren't what she wanted to read, and it turned it into a chore. She went from a kid who took stacks home from the library to someone who only read if it was an assignment. (Shocked faces in chat).
Shannon firmly believes in letting your kids read what they want. That doesn't mean don't encourage them to broaden their horizons, but don't take away things they love. That's how you kill someone's love of reading.
B.B. gives props to Shannon for the female main character; it's one of the reasons Amari can exists--"well Shannon did it and it worked."
Shannon's very glad Amari exists. Keeper got a lot of rejections with coded wording that made it very clear female main characters were not as marketable as boy heroes. And she wasn't an instant success--it took about 5 books to gain momentum, and a lot of that was teachers, librarians, book sellers, and the kids themselves telling their friends to read it.
Any info on the graphic novel? Part 2 is definitely coming and in the works, it just takes time. She's seen some tentative cover sketches, might see more soon, and is very excited.
Team Fitz or Team Keefe? Even though Shannon's written a whole book from Keefe's POV *she holds it up backwards, then upside down, then gets it right* and has a Keefe cutout in the corner *moves the camera so we can see him--he was gonna be in the background but it looked creepy*, she truly is Team Sophie. If she ever got a tattoo, it's say Team Sophie. But she's terrified of needles so never will.
People think they kissed so it's settled, right? "Well, the series isn't done yet. Sophie could change her mind." This goes back to what Shannon talked about with letting the characters dictate the emotions.
What first inspired Keeper? A lot of things. Hilariously, it started as a short story. Epic fail--she's what, 8,000 pages into her short story? She was working on a different book and got stuck, so decided to get to know a side character.
The side character she chose was Fitz. For some reason, she doesn't know why, the plot was he'd meet a little girl and realize she was an elf.
But "Guess what, you're an elf!" was a terrible ending and she couldn't stop thinking about it. What happened to that little girl? How could she not know she was an elf? Why would they hide her?
A few weeks later she knew "yeah, I gotta switch books." She couldn't get it out of her head, but it was daunting because she knew it would be a massive project. But that little girl would not go away.
What was the inspiration for Amari? Doing pre-med stuff is long and boring, so he was looking for something fun. He thought about Men in Black and what if there were supernatural creatures living amongst us. He was working on the world and one day Amari popped into existence.
Has Shannon ever made the Keeper recipes and what's her family's favorite? Shannon actually developed the recipes herself, which wasn't something she ever thought she'd have to do. It took a lot of baking fails, but her favorite is anything mallowmelt--but she always warns people it's SO sweet. Good, but a few bites is enough sugar for a week.
Planning any non-Keeper series? Shannon doesn't know what she'll do once she's done with KOTLC. She'll definitely keep writing because she loves telling stories, but she's so immersed in Keeper all her other ideas are on the back burner.
B.B. thanks Shannon for being so inspirational with her work and how she interacts with her fans--he learned a lot from her. Shannon says B.B.'s always one of the top people she loves to do events with.
Once again, she is begging everyone to read Amari and the Night Brothers. "Please, please, please read them! Oh and I guess read Unraveled too. *accidentally holds it upside down again*"
âTomorrow it's out in the world. Thank you for your faith in me and I can't wait for you to learn all of Keefe's secrets. It's gonna be an adventure.â
#kotlc#kotlc unraveled#B.B. was relentless! i think he asked twice as many questions compared to any other event i've been to with shannon#and they went the entire hour. usually it ends 5-10 minutes early#the ability to talk about things in a little more specifics was also. very very nice#shannon gave more specifics than I've ever seen before#anyway. i hope you enjoy! i was typing FURIOUSLY that entire time

Today weâre sharing our plans for the new map system that will be in the next version of Rescreatu. Letâs have a look around!
Traverse the planets far and wide!
Maps will become the centralized place for Rescreatu citizens to explore the universe. You can go to every location directly within this new map system. (There will be easy ways to access certain places or pages via a site menu as well.)
âĄâ Heads up: This information is in the early stages of development! The images you see here are mock-up sketches showcasing the overall concept of our exciting new map system. Theyâre designed to give you a sneak peek at how itâll work, but keep in mind that some details might change before the official release. Just a friendly reminder: Weâll begin creating this map system after weâve laid the groundwork for our shiny new website. Weâre sharing this with you now because we value your input. Your feedback will help us make sure the concept is rock-solid when the time comes to bring it to life!
The solar system map
Visit each planet quickly through the solar system map view. Currently there are 4 main planets you can visit and 1 inaccessible planet in the Rescreatu solar system. And who knows what else is out there!
Planet maps
Each planet map is projected in an isometric view, such as this concept art above of Relcoreâs new map. You may notice some familiar locations and some new ones. đ
More places to discover
This new map system will allow Rescreatans to chart the planets more than ever before. There are so many unknown discoveries that await! Have you ever asked yourself whatâs on the âother sideâ of these planets we all know so well? đ
Interactive user interface
The planet maps will have an app-like interactive map experience where youâre able to easily zoom, show/hide labels, and click on specific locations. Above is a mobile demonstration showing this.
Locations
Each location has an icon that can be clicked to see where it leads, and every location will vary on what you can do there. This could be a specific activity or shop that you can visit to bring you to a new page, or you can have your creatu explore a location to see what items or eggs they can find.
Location information
Clicking on a location will show at a glance what each location entails before entering.
Detect new species, quests, or items
Checking locations will also tell you if the system detects a new creatu species or quest item that can be discovered there.
Creatu spots
Most creatu species can be found while exploring any location throughout their given planet. However, itâs been discovered recently that each creatu species has a specific location where they can be found more frequently as well.
Map visibility/progression
New location icons will appear as you explore and do quests, and parts of the map may even be revealed by becoming uncovered.
Quests
Your quests may often lead you to any of the four planets in search of something or someone. Available and current quests will be noted by distinct icons on the planet maps, so you know exactly where they are.
What do you think about the new map system?

Hi! I was browsing the Lord Shen tag and found your blog đ. I loved the headcanons for ShenxReader through the wolf henchmen's pov â¤ď¸.
Would you mind sharing some headcanons but from the pov of the fluffy Lord peacock himself?
Hi Anon, thank you so much!!
I'm so sorry that my Lord Shen Masterlist slipped my mind - I'm fighting tumblrs atrocious tag search to find my previous writings for him and get them on there for you. In the meantime please - have some more!
Lord Shen x Reader Headcannons
- This stuck up, mithery, hairpin tempered ball of anxiety and condescension is officially your problem now. I mean. You chose this, so Iâll leave it to you as to what end of the bad choices scale youâre landing on, but man. You sure picked.
- I also canât get over the fact that â in China and most of the East: white is associated with death and sadness, and mourning. You not only picked the unhinged genocide gun bird, you picked the only person in all of China to be literally born emo via albinism.
- I will get back to the above, but Iâm mcfucking losing it over the image of Shen being. The smaller of the two of you.
- Like if you were a smaller creature he could properly get his elegant noble stride on, nose in the air and tail gently swishing behind him as he circles you, admiring every angle and relishing the nervous, excited little glances you give him. He might not be a strictly predatory species but he sure loves that thrilling edge of not-quite-stalking. Heâs too high class for the genuine article, thatâs what he has the wolves for.
- But if you had the audacity to be larger than him?!
- Heâd grind his teeth if he had any. He wants so badly to intimidate you â making sure to step with an extra click of metal coated talons, words honey-barbed and sticky as he looks for chinks in your armour, having to crane his head back and up to look you in the eye and- look- could, could you just- just lean down? Lean down for goodness sake just- there. There. Lovely. As he was sayingâŚ
- Shen going to go bananas planning the perfect courtship. Everything must be. Exactly. As he plans it. God forbid you trip on the stairs. If you bribe the guards to move all furniture two inches to the left youâre going to have a great time watching Shenâs eyelid twitch for twenty minutes as he tries to figure out whatâs ticking him off.
- Want a shortcut? Say nice things about his cannon. No seriously, itâs not a euphemism (though it could be-)
- The cannon is the culmination of Shenâs ambitions, the reason for his exile, the demonstration of ingenuity that set him apart. Seeing you run a hand smoothly over the intricate castings and complimenting his life's work is going to fill him with so many butterflies heâll have the wedding ready by noon.
- Of course he does, underneath all the royal snobbery and sass, really, genuinely like you. More than he ever thought he could ever like another person. Go you.
- ...He canât contain the terror that you might not like him back. Not because of all the murder, no, thatâs clearly not the issue. But because he isnât perfect enough for you. Because heâs not enough.
- Shen popped out of his egg all but rocking the 2007 bangs and MCR soundtrack of his time: born the colours of death in a house and species traditionally all the colours of the rainbow will have been like a self fulfilling prophesy â unspoken but not forgotten as he grew up and internalised his inadequacy by striving for excellence in literally everything else in life.
- Excellence in the form of weaponry, security, excessive control and genocidal ruthlessness. Combined with ingenuity, high intelligence and paranoia: all wrapped in a package of straining courtly manners and a need to constantly have the upper hand.
- You keep taking the fucking rug out from under him by reversing the script and being nice. Even his nanny (soothsayer, who has having a great time munching popcorn and giving incidental commentary) gives him shit and drives him up the wall â yet youâre out here, smiling (how dare you-) and- and saying he looks good (he knows, knows he looks sickly and out of place, a reaper amongst royalty-) and â of course you want to hand his hand really, who wouldnât (who would?) - heâs fine, heâs fine-
- If he dared to let you go, heâd shatter like a discarded doll.
- How does it feel, reader, to hold the fate of all China in the balance of your smile?
#thalassa responds#thank you so so much for the ask!!#x reader#kfp lord shen#lord shen#lord shen x reader#kfp lord shen x reader#ahhh that critical combo of parental issues and chronic instability vs a need for love so intense whole nations are at risk. gotta love it.#disaster bird.#@rose your man is breaching containment

Who is online stalking you đ ??
Left to right. I'm going to be keeping this one pretty simple and straightforward, since I'm easing back into things. Sorry about any typos.
Pile 1
I am mostly getting a male energy ngl. It does not feel particularly romantic. I think for the majority of you, this will be nonromantic. First, there is definitely a job/workplace or some kind of institution looking into someone. It feels like they are checking your background and making sure you are worth the investment--sounds harsh, but that is how the energy is coming through. And tbh that's how employers view things. If you are job hunting or applied for some kind of promotion, they are checking out your online presence.
The next person I am getting is a man that you are probably estranged from. If you are in contact, they probably get under your skin. This person seems to be kind of self-important and full of themselves. The type to think their way is the right way and anything else is because you just aren't on their level. For some of you this could be an authority figure like a father, priest, or teacher/professor. If this is a romantic partner then it feels like the type of ex you are grateful to have escaped: narcissistic, overbearing, mean.
For a lot of you they seemed focused on your social life. So if you are going out or have some new exciting stuff you have been posting, they are watching that. Some are jealous because they are not part of it. They feel betrayed and will probably try to contact you if you never reach out.
Pile 2
I don't usually specify signs but I am getting Gemini. I do think this is a person that you already know to be nosey. This is someone who might have recently gotten married or had their bachelor/bachelorette party. There is definitely something about marriage here. If they are getting married they want you to be there and if you are getting married they are wanting to be there.
For others this might be people you only see around news years or you last saw on new years. I'm getting a lot about relationships, but in a strange way. Like this feels like someone that is a player or womanizer. For some they are cheaters, for others they are the kind that give polyamory a bad name. For some of you this is someone that is well off or owns a business.
A few other occupations I am getting: uber driver, charity/nonprofit employee, film maker (including online content), photographer, movie theater employee. They could work at night. This could be someone that is in bad health. Super specific, but this could be an older person who officiates weddings. I do think they are known to you. This isn't a stranger or someone insignificant, but I also get the vibe that you still aren't very close to them. It could even be a partner you are taking some space from. Besides the kind of sleazy energy I was getting earlier, this person doesn't seem to have bad. For some of you they could be quite creative and driven and have a big heart. They may ask you to hang out. For the most part it just feels like they are observing your life.
Pile 3
I'm getting a much more lighthearted energy from this pile. This could be a best friend or someone you are on good terms with. It feels like they could be searching for gift ideas...I should stop there, so I don't unintentionally ruin a surprise đ. I am also getting family member vibes, it could be a maternal figure. For most of you, this person is really trying to conceal their identity. They really don't want you to know they are on your account; Some of them are even using a different account to check up on you. They are either being that secretive because they are planning a surprise or because they owe you an apology & know they should not be on your page.
This is quite specific, but this could be a maternal figure or older sibling you set boundaries with. Maybe you felt smothered or had a difference in opinions about your life decisions. Or you could have just gone to college. It feels like they miss you and feel far away from you. At the same time they are trying to be better person and they want to respect your boundaries. They know it probably is best to give it time.
Finally, I do think there is a crush situation somewhere in here. I think this is someone you know, but may not know how amazing they think you are. They find you beautiful, articulate, photogenic...I could go on. I think they go back and forth about approaching you. This could be someone you went to school with or you are in school with now. This could be someone on your campus or who works near your job or school. They could be kind of stoic in person, but it is because they are super nervous. You might even think they dislike you. Some of you could be older than them or a little younger. There could be a size difference, like maybe they are taller than you.
Well I am off to bake some chocolate chip cookies and eat way too many of them in one sitting. I hope you all enjoyed the reading. Let me know if there is a topic you want me to cover next.

More Than A Woman | wilford warfstache x gn!viewer / reader |
chapter one - "I've known you very well"
A/N: hi everyone!! I'm so excited to post this! Usually I spend a long time on the stuff I write but I wrote a good chunk of this in a feverish burst haha, I've been wanting to write for Wil and had such a clear idea of how I see him in my head for so long :)) This fic will probably be around 10 chapters~ish and progress will probably be a little slow but I'm also trying to get faster at my writing so I guess we'll see! Getting it down is always the hardest, then you spend a bit of time hating it, then the fixing can start! Anyway, I hope you guys like this, I love this dorky weirdo a lot for whatever reason, and I'd love to write for other egos too :) ((there might be a guest appearance or two in here in the last few chapters if plans don't change đ)) hope you guys enjoy the first chapter at least! lmk đĽ°! word count: 2.9k notes: reader is gender-neutral, similar to all of mark's stuff :) -- the title is just after the song! no pronouns or descriptors are used other than the occasional they/them. reader is the viewer (& district attorney) from wkm, adwm, ahwm, iswm, etc, but that won't come up until later. wmlw wilford. story will be mostly fluff, some hurt/comfort & angst, lots of romance and flirting! story is adapted from an idea I had for my self insert. we will get into some lore stuff (or at least my understanding of the lore đ) and filling in gaps with headcannons, but it's mostly about wilford & reader and I'll try to explain as we go so don't worry about it too much if you don't know all of it. especially since I don't know if my understanding is always 100% accurate đđ let's have fun yall! đ
masterlist | AO3
The music playing softly over the convenience store speakers was pleasant, if slightly boring. Like elevator musicâ there only to help ease the passing of time. Your night shift would end soon, and the sky could be seen as it lightened more every minute through the windowed front of the building.
Other than that, the old store was quiet. Dusty. Pink and orange neon strips lined the walls near the ceiling. They overpowered the dated fluorescent lights, casting everything in a slightly peach haze. Like a dream.Â
Different sections of the store were marked with neon too, the letters glowed against the wall denoting the drinks, the snacks, the hot food⌠You liked your little store. Even if the unyielding isolation of your work made you a bit⌠complacent. You couldnât remember the last time youâd truly talked with someone.
The ice creams chilled your fingers through the wrappers as you pulled them from their box and slotted them into place. Even with the cold air of the freezer wafting over you, you could smell the cool summer air coming in the sliding front doors.
You liked to prop them open on dawns like these. The convenience store lights did draw in the occasional pestering bug, but they usually found their way out again before long. You did get a bat once. Albeit a little crazed and frantic, you were surprised to find it harmless. Maybe a little lost. Now that thing seemed like it would never leave.Â
Refocusing on your task, you brushed your condensation-soaked fingers on your work apron, tied tight behind your neck and around your back, and shut the freezer door.Â
The motion alert chimed a pleasant tune through the staticky old speakers as a customer entered the open doors from the street.
You called an automatic, âWelcome in~,â and went about straightening a shelf of snack bars and chocolate. You didnât bother to look in their direction as you heard them make their way through the aisles.
âPardon me,â said their strange, nearly British accent from beside you now. You turned to the source of the voice, the man whoâd just walked in, and your eyes went to his outfit first.Â
A silky-- almost sparkly in how it caught the light-- lavender shirt with mismatched buttons revealed expanses of his bare chest. It was paired with white bell-bottoms and a fake pink afro hanging half-off his head, about to fall off. He had olive skin and dark hair-- nearly black--, fluffy and sticking up every which way like hands had been running through it. Scruffy facial hair framed a thick mustache that tinted slightly pink where it turned up at the ends.
He looked⌠honestly, he looked ridiculous. But the 70s getup was fun, you supposed. And his eyes-- dark brown and monolid-- were handsome. Underneath all the⌠extra mess. You blinked, slowly, in a way that felt like waking up.
âUh, hi. Are you coming from a costume party or something?â It was August, but you supposed it was never too early to start the spooky season.Â
âOh! Do you know of one? I do love a good costume. But no. Just the regular-sort. Just woke up from one.â He scanned the products near his head, grabbed a protein bar, sniffed the wrapper, guffawed, and put it back.
âYou just woke up? Are you alright?â
âOh, worry not, friend, this is normal for my level of reverie! Iâm not even hungover!â He laughed, his hands going to his hips.
You stared at him.
âI was just looking for something to gnaw on! To nourish myself before Iâm on my way.â His eyes were still traveling all over, not really seeing you.
Now in theory, a strange man coming in at this hour, acting even stranger, with his clothes disheveled? You knew you should be on your way to your safe space behind the counter to get him checked out and exiting the store as fast as possible. But there was something about himâŚÂ
Something you couldnât placeâŚ
Instead you raised your eyebrows and relaxed against the cooler door. âUh, I guess that depends on what kind of food you like,â You offered. After a moment, his gaze landed on you and he seemed to finally take you in. Your uniform, your crossed arms, your patient expression, your features. His face scrunched into confusion.
A moment passed, staring at each other like that. âYour shirtâs looking a little rough, you know.â
âHave we met, friend?â He asked as he began to fix his buttons.Â
You watched passively as more of his chest came into view. He either didnât notice or didnât mind your blatant staring. You werenât sure why you were staring, or what you were feeling as you did so.Â
You werenât gawking at his abs or anything-- well,-- not that he didnât have abs. He did, sort of. The expanse of his chest and abdomen were tight with toned muscle. He definitely wasnât lacking abs, anyway. Either way⌠this was about something different.Â
You wondered for a moment if a vague familiarity was what you were picking up on, but quickly dismissed it.
âI feel like Iâd remember meeting you.âÂ
You realized with a start that your comment could be seen as flirtatious, and added quickly, âJust, you know-- generally.â
But he just hummed and spun on his heels, turning away. You sighed and found yourself in-step behind him, hands in your uniform pockets. Like it was the most natural thing in the world.Â
âWell, either way!â He started, his energy returning tenfold. âLet's see what this cute little shop has to eat!âÂ
For some reason, you asked, âDo you have money?âÂ
He froze. âEr, no~. You donât mind, do you?â
âMind what?â
âWell, spotting me of course! Letâs just say I owe you one, eh friend?â
You rolled your eyes, smiling. âThought so.âÂ
Thought so? Maybe you did know himâŚÂ
It was your turn to squint in displaced confusion. âWhatâs your name?â
His voice came from behind you and you spun around, your shoes squeaking on the tile floor. When did he sneak around you?Â
He bent over and twirled his hand, a flamboyant bow finally knocking the afro off his head. âWilford Warfstache, at your service.â
âThatâs your name?âÂ
He righted himself. âFor now.â It suited him well enough, but for some reason it sounded misplaced.
⌠But no, either way, you definitely hadnât met him before. You didnât know many people in the first place, let alone someone so eccentric.
Still, you were curious about him. Curious about his personality and who he was. He felt sort of like a puzzle waiting to be solved. And so far, despite his quirks, despite how admittedly weird youâd also been acting, heâd been friendly. You couldnât say the staring and prodding questions were too in-character for you. At least not when it came to customers.Â
His hair looked softer without the wig to weigh it down-- parted at his brow and long enough to fluff over the tips of his ears and end where his neck met his spine. You reached down to scoop the curly mop of synthetic hair up off the floor.
âWhere did you get this thing?â
He hummed something like âI donât knowâ, his eyes sort of wide like a clueless puppyâs.Â
âWhat, you just kind of have it?â
âYeaâp.â
You squinted at him, a smirk forming on your lips. âHow about I do you a favor and throw this away?â
He shrugged, hummed an âalrightâ sound, and turned away.Â
âOh no, I was kidding! God, here--!â You had to grab his wrist to stop him from wandering off further and placed the pink afro in his hand.
You had just been trying to tease him, but now you just felt bad. âLook, Wilford, you want something to eat? We have to throw the hot food out every night. You can have a taquito or a slice of pizza or something if you want.â
Then he was frozen again-- staring down at where your fingers wrapped around his wrist. Your eyes followed his gaze down and then you were staring too.
A moment passed. Then two. Finally, you let go and crossed your arms again, tucking your hands away where they couldnât embarrass you again.
â... Fuck, Iâm sorry. I-I donât know why I did that.â You did your best to clear your throat.
But he was still stuck there. He blinked a few times and his gaze met your eyes, his brows gathering together.Â
âWh-What did you say your name was, friend?â He seemed so⌠serious all of sudden. So dire.
You hadnât mentioned it yet, but told him with a hesitant voice.Â
His expression blanked, eyes widening. He brought his arm, the offending afro in tow, to his chest, touching his wrist where youâd held it.
âOhâŚâÂ
You raised your brows and asked softly, âSorry, do you know me, then?â
âHm?â And he blinked like his mind was clearing, like heâd forgotten you were there.Â
He cleared his throat, smiled-- ear to ear-- his mustache lopsided like a cartoon. âOh-- nevermind about that! Some food would be lovely, if you donât mind.â
His eyes were sparkling.Â
âSure. I mean, itâs nothing fancy. Here,â And you walked over towards the front counter. Wilford trailed close behind you-- holding onto the wig in his hands like a school kid holding a lunch box-- his gaze wandering over the store again like he hadnât seen it the first time.
You arrived at the hot foods section, a glassed-off section of day-old food over heated rods. You shrugged. âIf you have a sensitive stomach, maybe donât,â you started, âbut itâs mostly fine to be honest. I eat it if Iâm in a pinch, you know.â
You hopped up to sit on the counter, your legs facing Wilford, and leaned back to reach around and grab the tongs waiting there. You straightened and clapped them together twice. You offered him a smile. âWhatâll it be, Mr. Warfstache?â Then a quieter, â--that was your last name right?â
âDo you gravitate towards anything yourself?â
âCanât go wrong with a slice of pizza, I guess. Even here.â
His smile grew sort of soft. âThen that. If you please.â
âYou got it.â
You leaned over again and served up the slice of moderately warm and slightly greasy pizza on a brown napkin and passed it off to him.Â
âMuch obliged.â
You got one for yourself too, and when you righted and your eyes found Wilford again, he was sitting in a retro-style diner chair youâd never seen before-- his feet against the edge of the counter beside you.
You couldnât help the surprised laughter that choked out of you. âWha-- where did you even find that?â
The chair teetered on its two legs as he leaned precariously back, tilting his head at your question. The pink wig sat in his lap and you couldnât help thinking it looked like some weird dog.
âWell, thereâs no need to worry! Iâm only borrowing it, Iâm not a barbarian.â
And you just knew you werenât getting more of an answer than that.
âSo who even are you?â You asked as he took a bite of the pizza, somehow pulling all the cheese right off the top in one piece. He pouted down at the offending mozzarella, slurping it into his mouth and swallowing it. âDo you live around here?â
âMm. I donât really live anywhere. Much more the exploring-- ever on the move-- type.â
He was so expressive. It really felt like talking to an old cartoon come-to-life or something. You turned to lean against the side of the glass cover, swinging your legs so your feet rested on the counter, not far from his still against the edge. You werenât touching at all, but you were surprised at how quickly the two of you fell into a casual-- albeit timidly curious-- rhythm.Â
âSo what do you do?â And you began to eat too.
He beamed, his smile reaching all the way to his eyes. âIâm an interviewer! Warfstache Tonight, thatâs what my show is called! Itâs quite a professional endeavor!â
You smiled and hummed around your bite of pizza, impressed. That actually explained a lot. And it suited him nicely enough. âSounds pretty glamorous.â
âAnd what about you? You canât just be a convenience store clerk!â He seemed so affronted by the idea. Crinkling his nose, dropping his voice an octave. âHow dreadfully boring.â
You winced. ââJust a convenience store clerk?â Ouch, WilfordâŚâ You couldnât help frowning down at your slice.Â
âOh! No no, pardon me!â He let the chair fall back to four legs, waving the idea way with a panicked hand. âI only meant that⌠this isn't what truly stirs your passions, is it? Do you do anything at your leisure? For work or just⌠something you enjoy?â
You squinted at him. But you didnât really think he was trying to insult you. And he wasnât wrong. It just⌠wasnât always the most fun when someone pointed it out. Especially like that.Â
You sighed, fidgeting as you considered his question. âNot right now⌠This job keeps me pretty occupied. But you know, itâs not too bad. It keeps me, I donât know, grounded I guess.â
He thought for a moment, then nodded, taking another bite. âI do hope you get more opportunities soon, then.â He said, surprisingly grounded.
You looked at him. â... Thanks.â And you meant it.
âAnd⌠my apologies for the earlier, uh, miswording.â
âThatâs fine⌠Iâd be curious to hear more about your show, though! Have you interviewed anyone interesting or anything?â
A beat. A sort of tiredness settled into his shoulders and he peered up at you. âThe odd gold-star guest did wander in from time to time. Iâm not sure if my skills were quite deserving of them at the time.â
Was that⌠shame?
âThe truth is, I couldnât quite live up to the role. I--â He laughed, pained. He cleared his throat. âIâm taking a bit of a break from show business for the moment.â
Ah. So thatâs what happened. You offered him a sympathetic smile. âTo party? Thatâs probably why you donât have any money, Wilford. And why you have to rely on shitty convenience store food?â You held up your greasy napkin like it was evidence.
âNow donât underestimate the power of a good party! And this food is fine, Iâm grateful for it,â He crumpled the now empty napkin and gestured wildly with it. âThe truth is I get by just fine. Iâm just not sure what else I should be doing.â
You looked out the front windows. The sky was getting lighter. The timer marking the end of your shift would go off any minute.
So maybe thatâs why heâd been asking you about your passions. You felt bad for him. He was strange, to be sure. And a little hard to follow. But he was also⌠sweet. He had a softness about him.
And still⌠there was that feeling that hadnât disappeared since meeting him. Like⌠like your soul recognized him. Maybe not deeply. But distantly. Like youâd met him in a dream. It was a ridiculous notion. Ridiculous didnât seem beyond his territory.
You turned, legs coming down from the counter once again. You leaned forward, your hand landing at the junction of his shoulder and neck. His silk shirt was soft under your fingers. His eyes jumped up to yours and you looked down at him with a smile.Â
âYou liked doing your show right? You want to be an interviewer?â
He nodded slowly. His lashes fluttered.Â
âThen thatâs what you should be doing! You just have to try again!â You shrugged with one shoulder. âIt might suck a lot. And you might fail again. But pick yourself back up. Keep going. Iâm sure you can do it if you keep at it and think outside the box, you know. Failing only means failing if you stop.â
You leaned back, your hand sliding away. He stared at you.
âThatâs what the rest of us do, anyway. Honestly, maybe you should do your show online! You know, livestream it or something. Iâm sure youâd find your own way to it.â
Slowly, a smile crept back in, the corners of his eyes creasing.Â
âWhat a wonderful ideaâŚâÂ
God, his eyesâŚÂ
You looked down at your own napkin, laughing a little at yourself. âWilford, I promise, the advice I just gave you was nothing crazy.â
âWell, perhaps itâs just a little too rare that I get a pick-me-up.â
You hopped down from the counter. âSwing by whenever, Iâll hand them out for free. Though, if youâre always on the move, I guess youâre probably not in town for long, huh?â
He quickly followed your lead and stood, his chair nearly falling in his haste. âUhâ w-well I, I donât know, I could always⌠linger for a day or two. Hard to say really.âÂ
âUh huh.â You smirked at him, raising your brows. âWell, if that constant partying you have going on brings you back here, feel free stop in, okay? ⌠Itâd be nice to have someone in here every once in a while. Well, someone friendly, anyway.âÂ
âRight. Will do. Of course.â
You gave him two solid pats on the chest and turned to throw the napkins away behind the counter. When you turned to face him again, he was gone. Only slightly confused, you quickly recovered and yelled a quick, âbye~!â to the now empty store.

Okay but you still havenât explained what the glitch theory is, like what does it mean??
omgg lore dump time this is so exciting, more under the cut but the glitch theory basically revolves around this merch from phil from november 2019 !
(re: this ask)
so like at the time, this piece of merch had ppl like đđ bc the concept and the graphic novel vibe and the way it said âto be continuedâ had ppl thinking this might be a hint at a secret project!
and over the years, phil would keep hinting at wanting to channel his creative energies into a project, and how he'd love to do smth interactive like bandersnatch ! esp in 2019/early-2020:
in 'The Scary Reason I Didn't Buy A House' (april 2019), he said: "I do actually have a story in my head, I'm just not quite sure how I wanna tell it yet. So it could be a book, it could be like a TV series-style screenplay, it could be a movie script. I just need to consolidate all these ideas in my head and turn them into the thing. But I have been thinking about it for about five years, so it's just when the right time is to actually release the ideas."
in 'draw my life: part 2' (august 2019), he said: "maybe for the next secret big project, it's time for Philly to think about the big dreams he's always had! [...] What I've always dreamed of doing is writing stories and directing films to take what's in my mind and share it with the world on your screen, maybe even a bigger screen. Now remember the rule of secret projects! Who knows what's going on and if it'll ever be real, but let's just say some writing is happening."
in an interview from february 2020, he said that his plans for 2020 included: "a few projects on the burn which I'm not ready to announce fully yet. They all involve writing. There are some stories I'd like to tell, so with some hard work and a bit of luck I might be able to share these with you on-screen on in print next year."
in the TalentWorks podcast from vidcon london (february 2020) at about 29:35 (youtube link), he said: "I think I've reached a point where I'm ready to sink my teeth into a new big project [...] I'm ready to do something new that's also very Phil and very my own thing, so I've been looking into- I'm really obsessed with interactivity. I think there's been a big boom of it since Bandersnatch [...]. I already pitched one interactive thing which didn't work out, but I got a lot of other ideas that I'm thinking of."
and in one of the stereo shows, dnp also confirmed that they tried pitching an interactive show to netflix but it fell through cause of covid ! and there was this insta story of dan being in LA in january 2020, which aligns with the timeline mentioned in the podcast. a transcription of that stereo moment is here
so it was never confirmed whether the glitch hoodie was actually supposed to be smth greater or if it was just a fun merch idea, but it was a common fan theory that glitch was supposed to be one of phil's projects!
and i think one of the most notable theories that supported the glitch concept was that a couple weeks after the merch release, phil tweeted this:
bc the suspicious thing is that it's nearly identical to smth he tweeted 4 years prior on literally the same day and almost the same exact time ! so weâd joke about how it was like a glitch (!!) in the simulation and he even responded to a tweet about it. and he also talks about it in this liveshow (at 24:39), where he just jokes about how he's living in the matrix
so yea! tldr: glitch is just one theory about what (one of) phil's secret projects is <3
#but then again he didn't say anything about his nose twitching on dec 3 2023 so does that kill the theory.#the answer is no i still choose to believe#and after compiling all these quotes like. maybe i will make a 'phil secret projects' gifset one day <3#also me re-listening to the whole podcast again just to find where he talked about ~secret projects~ and the podcast was so lovelyyy ;-;#like the way he speaks đ¤đ¤

My thoughts on the couples included in Better in Black for those who care
I expect you to write down yours so work work
đWessa
You know, as a dedicated Jessa stan I wanna say that it's okay~ Because these two were together for 50 years or sth, there's still some things to add. We might watch them in their 30s, 50s, 60s. I guess at this point both camps have around the same amount of content. Plus I'll have Jessa in twp so I'm in peace đą
đClace
All my first thoughts are over here. I'm a Clace defender, I'm their oldest stan, I'm a veteranđŠâ𦳠So I feel like I have a right to say that...it was kinda unnecessary. We've witnessed every step in their relationship so far, beginning of it in TMI, gentle transition to adulthood in TDA and Tales of Shadowhunter Academy, adulthood in SOBH and proposal. So if the story isn't about their wedding then WHAT THE HELL IS IT ABOUT REALLY? And we know that they won't get married until twp.
đAnna & Ari (Arianna!)
HeyđĽşthat is nice, we've seen so little of them in chain of thorns and I've loved them since their debut in 2018 in that short story. I'm very biased when it comes to TLH, cause I'm their mother. So YAYđąthey have a long way to go, Anna still needs to change a tiny little bit for them to be healthy, so I'd love to witness it
đJordelia
We all have known about it, because Cassie kinda promised us their story a while ago. Wedding runes scene, honeymoon, kids, mortgage etc. Go kids, slay, serve, eat and so on, I'm excited for u!
đSebastian & Seelie Queen
đ¤¨đ§đ¤đđ
Yeah... That famous Sebastian &Fanbase. Like... I'm conflicted, because it's useless and doesn't make any sense even tho it might slay. Listen up, I'll show you.
Lots of people defend it by saying that it might be important for Ash's background in TWP. But... No it's not. Because this is exclusive book made for few people who were lucky and financially stable enough to get it. It won't be posted online. So most people won't read it unless someone leaks it. So there's no point for that story to be important for the plot, therefore it has nothing to do with it.
And it's definitely not "one of the most beloved" couples. BUT LIKE... WHAT IF IT SLAYS? Toxic, unhinged romance, what if I'll love it? đ¤Ą
đJemma
So you see the problem? Because it's the same as Clace. What else might she add, because there's nothing. SoBH ended like yesterday. We know exactly where they live rn, their daily routine, their plans. So there's nothing to add between SOBH and twp. What will it be about? Hard to say, but I hope Cassie will come up with sth interesting for them.
đThomastair (why did Cassie say Alistair instead of Alastair, I'm lost help me)
YayđĽşslay, serve, eat and leave no crumbs, go, kill it idk you're doing great boys, there's so much to add and explore because they've just started dating. I'm so excited ^-^
đKierartkina
That is fine. No matter what I think about their relationship, because in my point of view Cristina and Kieran fell in love because Cassie said so apparently, I still don't mind them being there. Because there's also lots of things to discuss and explore. I hope the story will be soft and warmâthey've just started their advantage so it definitely makes sense
đSizzy
Even though we've had lots of them in TMI and Shadowhunters Academy I still think they deserve to be here. They are famous (I guess? đđ) and I'd like to know more about their plans for future. Simon was still a teenager in the stories collection and now I'd love to see him as a grown man being in relationship with the woman he loves.
đLuke & Jocelyn
đđđ¤¨đ§đ¤đ
Well... That was... Unexpected. I guess... I've just never met their fandom but I hope it's huge af, because I don't know why else would they be here. Sophideon, Gabrily and Charlotte with Henry were supposed to be here, let's be honest. But since they're here, I do think Cassie is able to make a decent story. I expect it to be bittersweet, angsty and somehow heartwarming. I think there's nothing to say except let's wait and find out.
OVERALL I think it's pretty fine. Maximum 7/10 from me. I was ready to face the worst, but it turned out to be... Fine. So it's fineâşđą

it's august 1! đŠ
my goal in july was to write 500 words a day as part of this challenge. i'm not someone who can write everyday; sometimes i want to make a collage or play around with profiles and backstory or write a random flashback to help with characterization. but also i had a summer teaching job this month, so about half my time has been dedicated to that.
...so i let myself skip days but always made sure to catch up. i ended the month having written 17,342 words. so i met my goal đ which means i can do it again next month, right? no students! no office hours! but i do have to work on my dissertation... (sobs)
story-wise, i added 5,287 words. i'm almost done with the first plot beat of chapter 1. you arrive home, reunite with your brother and spend some time with one of your dads, reminisce about when cĂŠsar, rafa, and arseau used magic around you--intentionally and otherwise. in the next plot beat, you'll arrive at your family's solstice party and reunite with cĂŠsar and rafa. i'm pretty excited to get there đ
coding-wise, i've been doing some some as i go, just to be sure i can implement certain ideas. i'm somewhat satisfied with this simplistic design for now, at least for testing purposes. i started from scratch so there's a lot left to do and learn besides that lol
anyway, here's a preview đł
(don't be surprised if i completely change the design.)
i plan to continue trying to write an average of 500 words a day for august and get at least half way into chapter 1 both story-wise and coding-wise. i'm prioritizing writing for the story over everything else in august for sure, so i might be slow slower with asks. thanks to those who have sent asks so far btw! it's been really motivating and encouraging.
profiles for cĂŠsar, rafa, gazi, and deniz will be dropping this month for sure. they're mostly done, but for some reason i feel like i'm missing something, so i'm letting my subconscious ruminate on that for me for now. i have some other writings on magic and the circles as well that i might post soon đ
this update is way longer than i thought it'd be? but i guess i'm really happy with my productivity this month? even though i was working. i'm having a ton of fun, so that probably contributes. here's to having even more fun in august!

Hi Kris! I just wanted to say that after reading chapter 7 you and Callie have left me in utter SHAMBLES and AWE with how devastatingly gorgeous the pictures you can paint with literature are. Iâm desperately excited to see how you two will be continuing the story although I do have a question that Iâm unsure if youâve answered before. After this broadway oscar winning fanfic has been completed are you and Callie thinking of possibly doing more collaborations or simply just yourself doing more collaborations with other artists and bringing more delicious stories to life?đđđđ
thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely message in my askbox, for saying SUCH NICE AND LOVELY THINGS, and for sharing with us the impact this story has had on you!! đĽšđĽšđĽšđĽšđĽš calli and i have been working so hard on this project for two months, and it really means a lot to hear how much you're enjoying it. đđđ
future kriscallicollabs??? we haven't answered this question before, and it's a lovely question!! currently, calli and i are 1000% focused on finishing more than you know and getting part ii of the jelsa video ready to post (SO MANY GIFS), so we haven't actively started planning any other collabs! however, when this idea was first planted back in the summer of 2023 or whatever, we braindumped SEVERAL ideas into the original majestic KrisCalliCollab google doc... (more than you know was actually only one of several ideas! đ¤Ł)
there's a jelsa!wildward collab that we really wanted to do but didn't have time to do fully, so we made a bunch of LORE, and i made a baby fic, and some edits: one of our other ideas that we really wanted to do was a jelsa!prequel to her wildward series and establish some lore for the first aegis users! we definitely did not have time to create a full-fledged fic, but LORE WAS HAD (pages and pages on the google doc), and in the end, i made two edits and wrote a little micro-fic for it! in the time of the first keeper... maybe one day we'll expand? đ¤Ł
when?? oof, not anytime soon, because life is upon us đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł BUT, calli and i are creative counterparts for life (TWIN FLAMES), so who's to say??? maybe sometime within the next five years?? FIFTY YEARS?? to be determined, but i do not doubt that it shall happen eventually! calli has also been pushing for a zelda/link!jelsa AU for ages and i have not forgotten đ¤Łđ¤Ł in the meantime, we'll just keep supporting and devouring each other's other projects!!
(also, not sure how many people know this, but i beta-read for wildward! i have been beta-ing the series since its early chapters!!)
other collabs? i've been super lucky to be able to collab with @knightsquall (my name twin) for our kris/xris edit+fic soulmate!AU creation, not in so many words! we made it for the prompt: âthe first words your soulmate will say to you will appear as a tattoo on your body at a certain age.â that two-shot is still one of my favorites. đĽšđĽšđĽšđĽš
i haven't done any other collabs, though!! i feel like both collabs just happened organically because i was already friends with both xris and calli before we actually started working on our projects! collabs definitely require a lot of trust, for me, and so while it's possible that other future collabs might happen, i'm not actively seeking any out. đđđ there are SO MANY TALENTED fanartists out here!! so it's definitely not for lack of good company, haha, but rather just that i'd already gotten to know both people really well, so doing a collab was just, like, the natural thing to do, once we had time for it. 𤣠fic fanart? i am, however, so so so fortunate that so many fanartists have been inspired by my stories đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°đĽ° i am really lucky and grateful to have been gifted so many gorgeous fanarts, fanvideos/AMVs, gifs, and doujinshi comics across multiple fics and fandoms.đđđđđđ đđđđđđđđđđđđ you can find (most of) them here, or on my tumblr tag (therentyoupay fic fanart) but BE WARNED, there are massive spoilers. đđđđ proceed with caution, haha! i also desperately need to update the fic fanart page with all the new mtyk art, too!
đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°đđđđ thank you so much for this ask!!! we hope you enjoy the final installments of more than you know and part ii of the jelsa video!! đĽšđĽšđĽš thank you!!! đđđ

đ cynosure status update
i mean. it's also periphery update too though. teehee. feel free to also check out the drawing here!
đ¤ New to the story? Check out the (current) wip intros: Cynosure / Periphery
omg it's been a while, hasn't it? haha. i must admit i might have gotten A Bit too deep into some university assignments (+ my thesis). I do sometimes talk about the story on my main, too, but it's nothing that important for the story itself, mostly just some fun facts about the characters, which means that most of the development I've done is in my brain. Or is nonexistent or something. ANYWAY! Here's a status update to tell what has been happening lately! Might actually make this into something I post every now and then.
In this status update I'm going to talk a little about how it's going with the story, overall thoughts, plot/character changes and some things you can expect during next few weeks (hopefully). I'll put it all under the cut to keep this short on the dashboard đĽ°
Like always, if you have any questions about the story, feel free to send an ask - I'll always be happy to answer đ¤
overall thoughts
Right now one of my top thoughts is honestly debating whether i want to, like, actually write this somewhere as a nove, or whether I should do it as a graphic novel or something. That said, if I do go with the latter, you can still expect writing bc I like to write things out to plan them. Or vise versa make some kind of sketches for writing. My brain works in a weird way, I know lol
I have been doing some worldbuilding (specifically for the story AND something for the overall story world that I have). Let me know if you'd love to hear some things I have thought about!
I've also been doing some research about *checks notes* Boston, MA. Because that's where most of the story happens :^) Though it happens in 2200's so I still have lots of room to change things around.
Definitely thinking about adding more dark/horror stuff in the world as a whole bc there's been, like, a climate crisis. AND people do interplanetary traveling. Stuff like that ought to lead to some fucked up stuff. Especially when there's megacorporations involved. Cynosure wise there's going to be something, especially in Periphery, happening to one of the main characters. đ
plot/character updates
(that have happened lately, at least)
One of the pov characters kind of got a name update! Tobias's first name has been changed to Ripley, and it's what most characters will probably referring to it as. That said, some characters (+ itself) will refer to it as Tobias bc that's its preferred name that's somethings its friends and wife call it
Another pov character (Samuel) got an interesting change of backstory, some tweaks in personality, and its plot-revelant actions have changed a little. Sammy's changes has thus made some already existing things I've posted on here non-canon.
Slowly finally putting together what I mah want to have in Klara's chapters and it's sooooo exciting.
Polished some things about the plots, especially the different parts of the acts <3
Got more thoughts about the project itself (or, well, what it should have). That also means I need to look more into pharma research or something. Very interesting...
Overall, lots to think about and lots to research about.
things to expect in next few weeks
(that is, if I won't drown in university assignments or something)
I've had some ideas for little stories that would be happening before the story, to show more information about the characters and the story itself (like what happened in the original project). Or maybe just some fun parts of characters' backstories. So I may post something if I manage to write it!
Some more character introductions + pov character post. Might make a "tag yourself" meme. Or a powerpoint wip intro
Something else, maybe? If you have an idea, let me know!
taglist (interact with this post if you want to be added or removed!)

Thirty-eight weeks! Start brushing off your brains, folks. It's almost go-time.
With great pleasure, I'm excited to introduce the thrilling interactable game that everyone has been waiting for (it's me - I'm everyone - no one else wanted this đ) BINGO!!
For those unfamiliar: Bingo is a game in which you have a grid of 25 squares, with a free space in the centre, typically filled with random numbers or words. The goal is to be the first person to get five squares in a row, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
I recommend listing 24 things you believe might happen in the corpse and putting them in a randomiser to help scatter them across your bingo board. Get as creative as you'd like! When you finish your bingo board, please share it with us 𼚠@exquisitetomarrymortcorpse and tag it #exquisite tomarrymort bingo! We can't wait to see what you think will be in our corpse. I'm sure we'll all have a good laugh đ Some participants made their bingo boards well before we even started the event đ let's see how we did... (Soon!! 28 days!!)
With two people left to go, we at Corpse HQ are getting antsy - we're so excited to show off everyone's hard work! But we're also already starting to miss the exciting hustle and bustle... good thing Corpse 2025 is already planned out đ
Our nineteenth murderer (participant) has been contacted. Let's give them a hot soul soup with an extra dash of cheer đ˛ and again applaud the hard work of our eighteenth champion corpse crusher đ

You Sundown Era AU is high-key one of my favourite Monkie Kid stories period. Which is HORRIBLE. Itâs just going to hurt in the end! Just as these more jaded versions of our favourite little guys find that piece theyâve been missing, MK wants to leave again.
This can only end in heartbreak :(
So Iâm actually really excited that you said that you plan to make some changes to include parts of Season 5?
Is Sundown Era going to be the 'next cycle'? As in- MK stayed in the pillar? So the world began anew but with changes?
(excluding MK, because he was created by Nuwa specifically for the previous cycle)
Maybe Nuwa decides to give him another chance at life for being such a good suicidal chaos harbinger?
But for MK no time passed AT ALL, so he (wrongly) believes he stepped into a seperate dimension?
And maybe when he first finds out the truth his heart SHATTERS breaks just a little. But with some time he does see the spark of who his friends used to be. And in the same way they all fell for him anew, he himself starts loving his family all over again. BECAUSE THEYâRE FAMILY IN EVERY UNIVERSE.
Also- them finding out Nuwa created MK with his only purpose in life being to die. And the only reason he got the chance to experience life properly is beacause the nine headed demon pitied him enough to intervene?
đ
If not- what changes DID you have in mind? Only small ones (more like little nods to the new season) or also plot related ones?
Honestly those are good points! Tho I'm still not sure how the whole cycle thing works other than the world dying and starting all over again with MK or Wukong's sacrifice so tbh this au can be seen in two ways: sundown world IS the next cycle after the canon one where MK sacrificed himself hence sundown world doesn't have an MK of their own or sundown world is still a different universe BUT sd!MK's stone hasn't been tampered with which is why he's not in the world (yet)
Although you'll definitely see the additions I added as of s5 to sundown in chapter 6 like Wukong's powers weakening, his hold on chaos and order slowly slipping away and cracks in the sky are starting to appear but v small and miniscule at the start and it just gets worse and worse the longer MK stays in the sundown world so even when by the end of it sd!gang wants MK to stay, it's ultimately not good for their world so they have to let him go (but not without a fight) tho they might misinterpret the world collapsing as sd!Wukong's temper to finally see his heir get married to two of the most powerful clans of celestial and mortal realm

baby, please - part 14
You and Santiago go furniture shopping for his apartment. You don't expect to be invited to a Halloween party.
Warnings: Mentions of being sick, so emetophobia warning. Unrequited feelings (đđ). Some swearing. Teasing between Frankie and Santi, standard bro's. Lightly proofread so definitely some mistakes in here. Word count: 3,616 F!Reader, no use of Y/N.
I'm BAAAAAACK. Sorry it took so long to get this out. Ideally I wanted it out for before Halloween but here we are, nearly at Christmas. My bad!
Also this feels just...a little stale to me. I tried re-writing it and going in a different direction but it just wouldn't fall into place the way I wanted it to. But I think that might be a me problem, and I will probably look at it differently once I'm back into the swing of things.
And I know we've already done a shopping trip with Santiago but I need it for the plot, okay?
Part 13 â Series Masterlist â Part 15
He came again with the truck.Â
Now was the day to really ask about the car, right? You were twenty-four weeks pregnant; he needed a car. There was no room for two babies in this truck. Oh, but you donât want to ask him, it was rude, it was up to him if he got a car or not. And honestly, the truck was probably the best thing for today, since heâs planning on buying an entire nursery, twice.Â
No, he needed a car. Youâll gently ask him today.Â
Santi had finally cleared out his spare room, and he and Frankie had deep cleaned it and gave it a new coat of paint, and it was now ready to be filled with furniture. He had told you that you werenât allowed to go in the room until the babies were born as there was a small gender thing in there and he didnât want to spoil it for you.Â
âIâve already looked online with Frankie and his wife, and I have an idea on what I want to get,â Santi said to you as you set off from your apartment.Â
âYou could have ordered it online,â you say. âItâll be easier for you.âÂ
Santi shook his head. âNah, I like to see the stuff before I buy it. Also, I need your input.âÂ
You nod and hold back your joke about him being an âold manâ. You werenât sure why he needed your input, but you werenât complaining about spending a day with Santi. Your cheeks warm as you think back on the last few weeks. You hadnât brought up the fact that you were probably (definitely), stupidly in love with him, and you werenât going to. You were embarrassed enough that you were practically getting off every night to the thought of him.Â
Damn your hormones.Â
âHowâs your morning sickness?â Santi asked as he focused on the road.Â
âOh, uhâŚnearly gone, actually,â you say. âItâs just once or twice a day now, or if I drink orange juice. Not sure why theyâve decided now to hate orange juice.âÂ
He nods at you before smiling. âGood. Iâm glad. I know it was getting you down.âÂ
You bite your lip to stop yourself smiling like a love-struck teenager. âYeah, it was.âÂ
You doze against the window of his truck until you arrive to Ikea. As you pull into the busy parking lot, you couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness about the day ahead. It was more than just a furniture shopping trip; it was a glimpse into the future of your babiesâ life with Santi, and the thought of that made your heart race.Â
Santi parked up as close as he could to the entrance and helped you out of the truck (you will mention the car today). You wobble a little as your centre of gravity was starting to work against you, but you steady yourself by holding onto Santiâs arm for a second before letting go, your cheeks burning. You donât look at him as you both walk into the Ikea, and you grab a cart before Santi takes it off you.Â
âI have to push a double stroller soon, Santi,â you say, grinning at the look on his face. âIâm able to push a cart.âÂ
With that, you make your way into the large store before he could say anything, Santi soon following you.Â
A feeling of togetherness washes over you as you pause every now and then and talk to him about your new house, how itâs big enough for you to fill with furniture. The excitement in your eyes was contagious as Santi navigated you both through the maze of furniture displays, joining in with how the kids would be able to play in the back yard with all the space youâll have. Your heart swells at the image.Â
Youâd been imagining two boys, with your eyes and Santiagoâs hair. Tanned skin and your nose, and you could see him taking them to baseball games in those jerseys he bought when you both went shopping.Â
But sometimes you saw two girls, taking after their father in everything. Down to the curly hair and dark eyes and dressed in those Metallica shirts he was still fawning over. Heâd probably get them all matching caps.Â
âI could get them a swing set,â you say. âI loved the swing set at my grandmaâs house.âÂ
âYeah, corazĂłn, I think they would like that.âÂ
âAnd a pool, maybe. Not a big one, but a decent sized one.âÂ
âYou can do allâa that now with your house,â Santi says as you both go deeper in the Ikea. Eventually, he does take the cart from you, and you let him with no complaints.Â
The first stop should have been the nursery section, but you stop in the toy section. You know, you know, you have bought enough toys for your kids, and Gabrielle has donated enough to you too. But you âdonât have this bear,â or âthat dinosaur,â and you throw them in the cart. You grin at Santi as he shakes his head at you, smiling fondly. After a few more additions to the cart (where Santi had to physically pull you away), you finally make it to the nursery section.Â
As you walked through carefully arranged cribs, changing tables, and adorable baby bedding sets, Santi's enthusiasm was evident. It was obvious he had done his research, and you watched him with probably heart eyes as he discussed the pros and cons of different options with you, valuing your opinion on every detail whenever he asked you.Â
"I was thinking something like this crib," he said, pointing to a sleek, white crib with some wooden accents and a drawer underneath. "What do you think? Is it too minimalist?"Â
You shrug, bending to look at the label, checking out the dimensions. âIt looks good. But yeah, it looks a little plain. Does it match the nursery at your place?âÂ
âIt does,â he says. He looked around. âBut everything does, really. Everythingâs soâŚwhite.âÂ
You let out a giggle as you look around too. âThere is a lot of white. I suppose itâs gender neutral.âÂ
âSuppose I could get some sheets to bring in some colour,â Santi mumbled. He looks at you with a grin. âIt is a nice crib.âÂ
âAnd it turns into a toddler bed for when the time comes,â you say, nodding at the product information.Â
âIt has a matching chest of drawers,â said Santi, taking a few steps away from you and to the rest of the furniture. âAnd changing unit.âÂ
âOoh,â you say, following him quickly and taking a look. âOh, I like the chest of drawers.âÂ
âYeah? Should I get them then?â Santi asked you.Â
âItâs up to you, Santi, these will be in your apartment, not mine. If you like them and you think theyâll go well in the room, then you should get them.âÂ
You back and forth with him over other pieces of furniture, like whether he should get a rug (âI think itâll bring the room together nicely.â), or a chair in their room for feeds (âIt would make it easier but Iâll probably end up on the couch anyway.â), and after a while, the room started taking shape in your mind as Santiago put more things in the cart. From what you could gather, the room had a nice sage green somewhere, and Santi had chosen a blend of soft pastels and natural wood tones; you had the sneaky suspicion it may be jungle themed, based off of some of the rugs he was looking at.Â
You almost laughed. You could take Santiago out of the jungle, but you couldnât take the jungle out of Santiago.Â
As you strolled through Ikea, you couldn't help but sneak occasional glances at Santi, admiring his dedication to making the space â his space â absolutely perfect for your babies. The way he was talking about the future with them with so such excitement and care warmed your heart, and you couldn't ignore the feelings growing inside of you. You were in love with this man.Â
Foolishly and despairingly in love.Â
âWant some lunch after this?â Santiago asked you an hour later, as you strolled through the warehouse, picking up the flat packed boxes of furniture that heâd chosen.Â
You nodded. âYeah, I could eat.âÂ
âWhatâre you craving?â Santi asked, grunting as he pushed another flatpack box onto the cart.Â
âNothing in particular,â you say, shrugging nonchalantly as your eyes roamed over him. âIâll have whatever you want to have.âÂ
âItalian? I could go for a pizza.âÂ
You nod, trying not to obviously stare and get distracted by the way the muscles in his arms move as he loads up the cart. âSure.âÂ
âWe can stop by my place first, get this stuff to my apartment.âÂ
You give him a look, raising your eyebrows pointedly at him. His knees. âSantiâŚâÂ
He was already shaking his head. âIâve already asked Frankie to stop by, heâs gonna help out.âÂ
Your breath hitched at the thought of meeting Frankie. You donât know why you suddenly felt so nervous, you were going to have to meet him sooner or later; you were pretty sure Santi was going to ask if he could make Frankie Godfather of the babies (of course youâd say yes, why wouldnât you?).Â
âYou donât need to be nervous,â Santi said, chuckling, shaking his head lightly.Â
âIâm not nervous,â you immediately say, lying through your teeth. And itâs obvious too.Â
âYour face says otherwise,â Santi replies, grunting as he places the last flatpack on the cart. You internally curse yourself; you should have gotten a second one. âHe doesnât bite. Heâs soft.âÂ
âNothing wrong with being soft,â you quip back, but Santi doesnât reply. He just pulls the cart out of your reach, and you make your way to the check out.Â
After paying (you wince at the price â you offer to pay half, but Santi downright refuses) you make your way back to his truck, where an employee (practically a kid, he looked no older than nineteen, but he was built like a tank) had offered to help load. You, again, attempted not to stare at Santi as you tried not to feel so useless, but every time you reached for a box, even just a small one, Santi quickly shot you down.Â
âYouâre carrying twins, you will hurt yourself.âÂ
âIâm pregnant, not elderly!âÂ
Your protesting falls on deaf ears, and Santi profusely thanks the employee for the help and hands the kid a tip. Santi helps you climb into the truck before making his way back to the driverâs side, and sends a quick text to Frankie, you assume telling him that you were on the way back to Santiagoâs place.Â
âWant to get Carmeloâs?â Santi asked as he pulled out of the parking space.Â
You pull a face. âTheir pizzas are greasy.âÂ
Santi laughed as he looked in his mirrors and drove out of the lot. âThatâs what makes them great.âÂ
âYeah, âgreatâ at giving you heart disease.âÂ
âOkay, how about Solorzano's?âÂ
You go quiet and think about it, before nodding. Youâd ordered in with them before, and their garlic knots were to die for. Your mouth practically started watering at the thought of them. Maybe you donât need a pizza, maybe you could just order appetisers, like the macaroni and cheese wedges, the mozzarella sticks, oh, maybe their chicken wings.Â
Yep, Solorzano's was good.Â
âYeah, thatâs fine, letâs do that,â you say.Â
You arrive back at Santiâs after telling him all about the food you were going to get, him laughing and telling you that you were hardcore âplaying into the pregnant lady tropeâ. You pretended to take offence, telling him fact that you were just appreciating good food, that he suggested, whether you were pregnant or not.Â
âAll right, fair,â heâd said, amused.Â
You try not to fawn at his laugh, but you couldnât help it. You sighed, hopefully thinking Santi took it that you were happy that he agreed with you over your food choices.Â
You soon pull up to his apartment and park in his designated spot, only for a dark blue car to pull up minutes after you arrived. Your eyes widen a little as you see the infamous Francisco Morales climb out of his car and approach you both from his place parked behind Santi. He was shorter than he looked in the video, but still taller than Santi. His dark, tousled hair was hidden behind a cap, and it gave him a rugged charm, and there's something about the lines on his face that makes him look like he's seen it all but is still totally approachable. You catch a glimpse of some scars on his tanned arms, on show as the sleeves of his dark shirt were pushed up to his elbows, and it only added to the sense that this guy has some serious stories to share.Â
âHey, Pope!âÂ
âHowâs it going, Fish?â Santi asked, giving Frankie a smile as they hug, patting each other on the back in a way that you would expect brothers to do. The nicknames confused you; Santi had never referred to himself as âPopeâ, nor Frankie as âFishâ. âCould have tidied yourself up a bit.â Santi jokes, motioning to Frankieâs cap and old battered jacket.Â
âIâm doing you a favour, hermano, watch your mouth. Sarah asked me to drop this off for you too,â Frankie said, holding up a paper bag before looking at you and pointing at you with a good-natured expression on his face. âYou are not to look in that bag, because it is a surprise.âÂ
Your eyes widened for a fraction before you nodded. âOkay, yeah...noted.âÂ
âAre you going to introduce us, teo, or did the news of twins and the financial recovery make you forget basic manners and social introductions?âÂ
Santi gave Frankie the bird before introducing you both.Â
âItâs nice to meet you,â you say, shaking his hand as he offered it to you.Â
âItâs nice to put a face to the name,â Frankie says, letting go of your hand and taking a look at the bed of the truck, full of the furniture Santi had bought. He nodded towards it as he looked at Santi. âWhat did you get?âÂ
âEverything, it seems,â you joke.Â
Frankie gave you a grin before turning back to Santi. âWhen are you gonna get a car, feo? Canât fit car seats in this thing.âÂ
You almost laughed in relief. Now you didnât have to ask and feel like you were intruding.Â
âIâm working on it, tu idiota,â Santi replied, opening the bed of the truck. âNow help me with these boxes, you canât expect me and my knees to do all the hard work. Donât even think about it.âÂ
You hold your hands up in surrender at Santiâs firm gaze, landing on you as you had reached for a box.Â
Santi hands you his keys and you go up to his apartment to unlock the door, Santi and Frankie following you up moments later, carrying boxes up with them, huffing and puffing together. You grin as you hear Santi grumble that they âfelt heavier than they did at Ikeaâ, and you make your way down to get some of the lighter things. You grab the rug that Santi chose, along with the soft toys youâd picked out.Â
You eye the paper bag Frankie bought, that was sat in the bed of the truck, the curiosity to take a peek inside itching at your fingertips. You look around quickly before looking at the bag before you finally shake your head. Frankie said it was a surprise, something Santi might have organised, so you shouldnât. You should leave it alone.Â
âYou better not look in that.âÂ
You smirk before looking at Santi, who was giving you an amused look. âI was thinking about it. But I wonât.âÂ
Santi rolled his eyes in amusement as he and Frankie both grab another box. You grab one last toy before you follow them up the stairs and into Santiâs living room, placing the stuff on the couch. You go back to the truck, taking the last of the small things before sitting back and watching the two men bring back the last of the flatpack boxes. Soon, Santiâs living room was representing the Ikea warehouse with how many boxes were littered around everywhere. You spotted the paper bag sitting on the small dining room table by the open plan kitchen.Â
Again, you choose to let it go.Â
You step outside, closing and locking the apartment. You see Santi and Frankie chatting by the truck, the bed now closed, and you make your way over. You hear Santi thanking Frankie for the help with the furniture.Â
âDonât thank me yet, you still need help putting that shit together,â Frankie replied. âYouâll probably need all the guys for that.âÂ
Santi snorted. âWould love to see Benny try to put together a crib...or two.âÂ
âWell, he put SofĂaâs together,â Frankie said.Â
Santi went quiet at that, and the two stared at each other. You werenât sure what was happening, but it was as though they were having a private conversation with each other, without having to say anything. You go quiet, letting them have their telepathic conversation, until you cleared your throat, breaking the awkward silence. âWould you like to join us for lunch, Frankie?âÂ
After a few more moments, Frankie turns from Santi and gives you a small smile. âI would love to, but itâs SofĂaâs birthday next month, and Sarahâs got me running around trying to get the stuff for it and she has me planning this Halloween party in a couple of days.âÂ
âThe guys say theyâre still going for Halloween?â Santi asked, crossing his arms over his chest. It was as if his and Frankieâs interaction hadnât happened. You put a pin in it for now.Â
âBenny said heâs still coming, Ironheadâs still unsure, since Claireâs putting a bit of pressure on him to make some solid decisions on the wedding.â Frankie chuckled before looking at you. âYou should come,â he suddenly said to you. âI know itâs a bit last minute and itâs mostly for kids, but it should be fun.âÂ
Your brain stops for a moment, not realising Frankie was suddenly talking to you. You blink at him for a moment before shaking your head. âOh! Uh, yeah, Iâll definitely think about it. I was gonna go with my friend and her kids trick or treating â âÂ
Frankie cuts you off with a wave of his hand. âBring them along, seriously. Sarah loves meeting new people, sheâs been talking my ear off about when Pope was finally going to introduce you to everyone.âÂ
âFrankie,â Santi muttered firmly, a light blush coming to his cheeks, causing you to giggle.Â
You nod at Frankie. âDidnât realise I was such an interesting topic.âÂ
âAre you kidding? You managed to get Santiago Garcia to slow down and think about his future for once,â Frankie said, ignoring Santiâs very obvious glare.Â
You grin. âIâll talk to my friend, see if she wants to join.âÂ
âGreat. Youâre coming though, right hermano?âÂ
âWouldnât miss it,â Santi replied. âCanât disappoint SofĂa.âÂ
You feel your chest warm and your heart swell with the way he looks as he talks about his niece, how he was so enamoured with her. You wonder how he would talk about your kids and how he would act with them. You find your eyes quickly swell with years, and you look away from the two men quickly, wiping at them.Â
Damn hormones.Â
âGreat, just let me know plans, yeah?â Frankie said, nodding at you both. âNo pressure, though, if you canât make it.âÂ
You nod. âNo worries, I'll let you know. Or Iâll get Santi to tell you, anyway.âÂ
âAgain, it was nice to finally meet you,â Frankie said, shaking your hand again. âIâll text you later, hermano.âÂ
âSee ya, Fish,â Santi replied, giving Frankie a quick hug before the two of you watch him leave. You both wave as he drives away.Â
âSo,â you say after a few moments, handing Santiâs keys back over to him. âWhatâs with the nicknames?âÂ
âOur call signs,â Santi said, taking the keys. âJust stuck afterwards.âÂ
âOh, right. Why is yours Pope?â
Santi was silent for a moment before he pulled a face, shaking his head. âIt doesnât matter, I think it was something stupid Benny said.âÂ
You donât believe him, but you wonât push. He was always a little closed off about his days in the army. âOkay. So, ready for lunch?âÂ
âSure...yeah,â he answers, before opening the truck door for you. He hesitates again for a moment as you turn to climb in, before he blurts out, âYou donât have to come to the party.âÂ
You look at Santi, seeing his unsure face looking at you. âWhy?âÂ
âDonât want you to feel obligated,â he says.Â
You study him for a moment, noticing his stance. He seemed a little out of sorts, nervous almost. You give him a reassuring look. âI want to go. Itâll be fun.â Then you give him a teasing smirk. âAnd besides, Iâd miss out on hearing all the embarrassing stories about you from your friends! No way am I missing this.âÂ
You see his shoulders relax a little at your words before he rolls his eyes. âFunny. Get in the truck.âÂ
âYou know, if you got a car, I wouldnât struggle so much getting in and out of this thing.âÂ
âI fucking knew the truck bothered you.â

Okay I'm thinking many thoughts and I need to get them out to see what people think...
I've had these plans for like... a year tbh and we all discussed it and voted on it and the overwhelming majority said that they wanted blindrry to get a surgery to be able to see!!
Unfortunately, how harry went blind is irreversible- so I will have to change a little bit of the back story for him to be able to see, which isn't a big deal to me!
I also want him to have a baby girl 𼚠he's such a girl dad and as much as I'm OBSESSED with Finn and Storm, blindrry needs a baby girl
I can't even wait to write him actually being able to see one of Y/n's pregnancies đĽš
~
I have big plans for Vetrry next year!!!
Maybe there will be a proposal đ¤ maybe not... who knows đ
If I'm going to be completely honest Vetrry is honestly one of my favorites â¤ď¸âđĽ
~
Now onto actual concepts I have
I was just listening to I can fix him (no really I can)
And I know I do have pornstar Harry as a concept trope but....
I just can't stop thinking about Harry being a camboy or a porn star and childhoodbestfriend!Y/n is secretly in love with him
And she swears she can 'fix' Him and make him like loyal to her and blah blah
Maybe roommate!Y/n AND childhoodbestfriend!Y/n??? Let me know
Bc I definitely need thoughts on this one because I would honestly love to write this
~~
I love all my tropes and my little worlds but next year I really want to expand my writing and not just focus on the same tropes, I want to experiment and just write whatever I want!! Whatever you guys want, whatever idea pops in my head!
~~
Okay I didn't want to spill the beans because I feel like I'll jinx myself and everytime I say "blah blah blah coming soon" then suddenly I have writers block and can't finish it đ
But I'm working on the biggest thing I've ever written right now!
So far it's just titled "ski trip" but basically the plot is that two childhood best friends (can you tell I love childhood best friends to lovers?) turn enemies, they start competing over literally anything and everything once they hit teenagers, they start absolutely hating each other and right before Harry (my mmc obviously) leaves for university he confesses his love for Y/n
Now, about six years later they finally reunite at the family holiday trip they take each year
Harry hasn't come around in 6 years because he's busy becoming some hot shot lawyer and y/n comes every year to the holiday ski trip because she's struggling trying to become a writer
Her job as a glorified assistant comes to an end after she finally stands up for herself and she has to hide it from her whole family the whole holiday season trip
And once Harry makes a big announcement about his career her whole world comes crashing down and she has a bit of a freak out
Especially because after not seeing him for 6 years he refuses to acknowledge the fact that he confessed his love for her and goes back to acting like he did when they were teens
I don't think I've ever been so excited to write something, but when I say it's huge and I'm so obsessed with it I mean it
Like it might take me a year to write it because I plan for it to be like novel length đ
Anywho, I'm excited to hear thoughts, especially about my ski trip one! This is my baby right now and my life revolves around it đ
I promise more writing/ concepty ramble like posts coming soon!!

This is honestly kinda weird for me because I definitely didnât enter 2023 with the intent to be content creator, but I kind of stumbled into 2024 actively being one (which is something Iâm incredibly grateful for, Iâve gotten to meet so many cool people and make so much cool stuff)!!
That being said, I am incredibly excited for 2024 and some of the things I have planned, and for all of the amazing creators and friends I have things planned with, and I wanted to share some of my goals for projects for the new year (in no particular order)!!
Obviously Fable SMP is still ongoing, and Iâm really excited for Ulysses story and the culmination of it!
Speaking of Fable, my goal is to have completed my main Fable Fics by the end of 2024! Thatâs the final two Brink books (On the Border of Life and Death, and On the Precipice of Eternal Purpose) and the final Blood book (Your Skin Beneath My Teeth)! Iâm sure that wonât be the end of my work writing Fable related fics, but that will hopefully wrap up my main stories there.
Iâm also hoping to have the Brink and Edge Audiobooks finished by mid-year!!
As some people might have seen, Iâm part of the starting cast for the super cool upcoming Terramortis SMP, announced by the incredible @m0thm00n and featuring a ton of awesome creators!! Iâm super excited to share my character for that story and see where that SMP goes!
I canât say too much for now, but I may be involved in some other upcoming RP/SMP projects which people should be on the lookout for đ
CANTRIPPED!!! Iâm so excited to be part of the Cantripped cast moving into 2024 and to see where that story goes! I love Dan so much, and keep your ears out for me perhaps guesting in some other roles on the show as well!
I have two huge Video Essay projects Iâve been working on for a while and am hoping to finish up early this year! One is the Teen Wolf video essay Iâve talked about before, and the other is a more light hearted Percy Jackson focused piece! Iâve also got the start of a third essay on the original Jumanji in the works so who knows where thatâll go!
Also top of like,,, creative things, this year Iâll hopefully be graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Ancient History and Classicism which is⌠wild to think about-
A bunch of other cool projects I have on the back burner that Iâd love to pursue!!
Will any of these come to fruition? I really fucking hope so cause Iâm really excited for all of them- but obviously thereâs nothing concrete since life gets in the way.
But you know if any of those things sound interesting to yâall⌠stick around here? You probably found me through Fable SMP so like, Iâm pointing at my YouTube and this tumblr account, theyâre the main places I reside đ§

Okay WIP Wednesday! Iâve had a real fucking busy weekend painting the house and building new furniture and making some fucking HELLACIOUS overalls (pics later maybe???)
But I basically havenât been on except my occasional cursed thought, and hopefully Iâll be around more and actually get to some messages this week đ maybe
In the meantime! Here is the Danny segment I considered giving you last week!

A Good Excuse To Be A Bad Influence iii
Honestly, driving in Gotham wasnât even all that exciting from Dannyâs perspective. After being tossed around the GAV despite the seatbelts, a couple of cranky fellow drivers just didnât register.
If they hadnât been going through the city, maybe going highway speeds it might have been different, but heâd kind of worked out how loud he had to be to be heard.
By Jason snickering when he screamed at pedestrians.
If they didnât want to be screamed at they shouldnât be trying to loom menacingly.
Of course, that just meant now was the perfect time for him to use his new power for evil. Danny flipped his visor up, straining as high as he could to yell to Jason.
âSO, THAT CONSTANTINE GUY?â
There was a sudden click in his ear and he jumped as Jasonâs voice came through, quiet and definitely amused.
âThereâs a radio in your helmet, Danny.â
Oh.
News to fucking him, he was pretty sure that wasnât standard in motorcycle helmets, but not from any lived experience. Johnny 13âs dead experiences were a little out of date.
Poking around the sides of his helmet, Danny soon found a button.
âSweet. Looks like you finally forgot to mention something,â he teased, and heard Jason snort loud and clear.
Didnât have to hold the button to talk then. Good times. Heâd get Tucker to take a look on the way home after he ecto infused it. For now he flipped the visor back down.
âLooks like,â Jason agreed dryly, swerving them around a cluster of traffic.
He wasnât exactly sticking to the letter of the law, they were definitely half again over the speed limit, but they hadnât gone on a sidewalk so it was nothing to a Fenton. There was even an empty slot in the lane he merged into.
âSo what about Constantine,â he prompted, and while it broke Danny out of his musings, it also reminded him of the exact thing heâd planned to do to make the trip more interesting.
âOh, I own his soul. Like, a dozen times over,â Danny chirped perkily, grip tightening just before Jason had to slam on the breaks to keep from hitting the car beside them.
They sped off again before the sudden swerve caused comment, and passed a block or two in silence. Then Jason sighed.
âOf fucking course you do that for everything and not just Mariokart.â He mostly sounded resigned, so Danny allowed himself a snicker.
âWhat, itâs not like weâre gonna die. Youâre even still on the road,â he dismissed easily, waving a hand to show just how unconcerned he was.
Did not expect Jason to huff, reach back and grab his hand, and pull it back around himself.
âIâm reconsidering teaching you to drive,â he told Danny flatly, and Danny pouted but took the hint and held on.
âOh come on, you canât say that, you havenât even seen me try!â Danny protested.
Jason made an unimpressed noise.
âYour townâs weather includes reports of if your parents will be on the road.â
Which, by the way, was totally unfair of him, since heâd never have known that if Danny hadnât told him. Or Tucker hadnât told Tim.
Same difference.
âMy parents, not me,â Danny argued anyway, shrugging, âand it wasnât their driving that killed me.â
This time he was close enough, snugged tight to Jasonâs back, that he felt the guyâs whole body shiver with a loud and rumbling growl. The same growl heâd heard and soothed earlier.
Something had really riled up Jasonâs pit ghost.
Danny hummed another quick soothing trill, stroking his aura gently across Jason and his extra passenger.
Sort of trying to do it unobtrusively; he would actually really prefer that they didnât fully crash. It kinda worked, in that Jason managed to unlock suddenly solid muscles enough for them to make the next turn.
âSorry,â Danny said quickly, kind of to both of them, âguess Pitty doesnât like the death jokes today.â
They passed another few buildings in silence, anf Danny had definitely noticed by now that they werenât heading for the manor. Didnât matter so long as Jason knew where they were going.
Danny waited him out, long enough that he almost wanted to make another joke and lighten the mood. Again though, Jason broke it first.
âPitty.â He did not sound impressed. But he didnât feel mad. More what the fuck just came outta your mouth.
Danny gave him a quick squeeze, and almost felt the pit purr.
It was kinda getting stronger the longer they hung out. Technically that probably meant that both cores were making progress.
âWell, technically you probably get to name it, but until you come up with something Iâm calling it Pitty,â Danny explained, and rather felt that Jason should be grateful.
Unlike the rest of his family, Jason had seen the full list of how Jack Fenton named things. Danny preferred to think he took after his aunt.
He coulda called it the Fenton Pit Friend or something. Really, it wasnât hard to think of anything worse.
From his aura, Jason now seemed to be intentionally ignoring him.
Stewing in indignation-disbelief-confused-confused-confused. Well, that was his call.
Anyway.
âBack to Constantine though, I wasnât kidding. I do actually own his soul,â Danny said casually, since theyâd gotten distracted from his previous attempt to make the drive more interesting.
For a moment he wasnât sure if Jason would rise to the bait this time either, and then another sigh came over the radio.
âYâknow, somehow, thatâs the least surprising thing youâve said. Man sells his soul so much everyone seems to have a chunk,â Jason grumbled, and Danny snickered.
âOh, pretty much. Heâs the Caterpie of human souls. He never made a deal with me directly though,â he added quickly, without being fully sure why.
He was pretty sure Jason wouldnât jump straight to âDanny is a soul traderâ, but honestly heâd gotten used to getting ahead of wilder trains of thought.
âOh? Howâd you get twelve then?â Jason shot back, clearly warming back up to things.
Mission accomplished. Danny grinned.
âWell, previous Ghost King was in nappy time for a couple thousand years, but he had this whole thing about collecting souls to add to his army of thralls, so basically anyone could sign their soul over for a chunk of power. Real charmer,â Danny snorted, rolling his eyes.
It was so far from the worst thing Pariah Dark had ever done, but so far it was definitely the longest lingering annoyance.
âI got the impression,â Jason agreed in pretty much the same tone, prompting Danny to continue.
Which. Yeah. Was more fun than thinking about the mountain of thrall contracts still awaiting their ownerâs deaths, which the Observants were still fussing over.
Nobody wanted more thralls, souls wiped clean of everything that made them, well, souls. Just unliving batteries. Even ghosts found them creepy.
On the other hand, there was nothing the Observants loved more than rules. And the rules said a signed contract had to be honoured.
Really they shoulda expected Danny to ask who the fuck signed for Pariah, since he was (again) in nappy time prison. He hoped nobody else died while they sorted that out.
âDanny?â
Ah. Yup, he did it again. Danny shook his head and sighed, kinda missing the wind in his hair. It kept him more present than the enclosed space of the helmet.
âSorry. So, John Constantine, clever bitch, wrote himself a contract that signed his soul over to the Ghost King, not Pariah Dark. Got through whatever screening was in place no problem, and now heâs my problem.â
A problem that Clockwork had presented Danny with on his fucking birthday no less.
That had been part one of the soul screening process; who was stuck with Pariah by name, and ho boy that was a depressingly long list⌠and still growing, though it had slowed recently.
News of Pariah losing his crown was slow to spread, and frankly Danny himself could be doing more to help that, except. Well.
Not taking the damn crown himself until he had to. Not wanting to give the creeps of the world anything to call him.
There were a lot of good reasons, okay? And Clockwork had specially singled out Constantineâs contract and delivered it to Danny himself as a birthday present.
âWell, that explains one,â Jason agreed with a snicker, pulling to a stop in front of the police station, âbut what about the other eleven times?â
Danny snorted a laugh, sliding off the bike and stretching. As much fun as hugging Jason at high speeds was, he didnât like being still for too long.
âTax season,â he explained cheerfully, pulling off the helmet and looking around, âI guess weâre meeting Harley here?â
Snickering to himself, Jason pulled off his own helmet and tucked it into the storage on the back of his bike. Danny passed it over, noting that Jason had also had to get a second little pod for the other helmet.
He wasnât gonna ask. Maybe they were in storage?
âYeah, weâre meeting Harley here. Better not to swing by the manor for a while,â Jason added, his expression souring.
Which did make Danny feel a little bad actually. He didnât want to cause trouble for Jason with his familyâŚ
But before he could say anything Jason ruffled his hair roughly, shaking his head.
âItâs not your fault, Danny. This kinda shit happens every other week, Bruce gets on his bullshit and I steer clear. Heâll calm the fuck down eventually and remember to mind his own business,â he explained dryly, nodding towards the doors.
Danny hesitated before moving to follow. It felt true, he could feel Jasonâs sincere-exhausted-familiar-still over it clear as day, it just.
âIâm still sorry I wound him up though,â Danny finally decided, heading after Jason up and in. Jason who rolled his eyes and held the door open.
âDanny. He winds himself up. You could be a literal angel and he would not fucking care. You couldnât unwind him even if you miraculously found the key. Weâve all tried,â Jason said with a sigh, though at least the anger seemed to have burned off into justâŚ
Tired.
Jason just felt tired.
Probably cuz he was off fucking around with Cass last night, but Danny wasnât about to call him out on it.
Not when theyâd just walked into the police station (ew) and the wild sight of Harley Quinn, hair in pigtails and dressed in her signature red and black, sat on the duty officerâs desk with a bat. Filing her nails.
Total silence filled the room, broken only by the swing of the doors opening as Danny and Jason stepped through.
The whole room was watching her in a kind of terrified awe, like she was a particularly dangerous bomb waiting to go off. Dannyâd swear they werenât even breathing.
She looked up as the door opened, grinning broadly at the sight of them and waving in a large, exuberant gesture.
âOh, thereâs my boys! Hey boys!â She called in obvious delight, and half the room flinched.
Didnât seem to matter that she hadnât even been in Gotham for ages, let alone being her former roguish self. She had the kind of presence that left a lasting impression.
No wonder Danny liked her. She coulda fit right in with his ghost friends.
Maybe sheâd come join them for fight club.
