i was calculating daewoong's age for a fic and there'll be some spoilers here so mind yourselves.
anyway let's get it. the hypothesis is that if he was 17 in that scene where he got beaten up (I don't think he would tolerate any more beating after 18, he'd fight back) and seojin was at least 5 blowing on his wounds cutely, they'd have a 12 years gap. or 13 if she was 4. which means, that considering seojin graduated college on track at 22 in the year 2022 and shin cha-il came at her second year of career, she's 24 and and daewoong is 36 during the series.
now daewoong's actor jin goo was 44 (b. 1980) during filming - which is also possible to be daewoong's age but considering seojin was at least 5 or 4 during that scene, it's too big of a gap. again, i don't think daewoong would tolerate anymore beating after 18. (he could be even younger in that scene, so the gap would be closer, but the keyword of the flashback was my highschool days and all.)
so this statement baffles me.
either someone is not considering things right in the script or mr yang was exaggerating his loyalty OR he did saw the 6/7 year old son of his CEO being bullied by his older brothers so often and just decided to defend him from then on, hence the claim. hilarious headcannon but very possible - and most touching. in this perspective, daewoong is easily in the hero/victim position and the brothers the villain, which is an interesting view (shounen arc much?) still hilarious, so i'll give you daewoong's pretty smile to entertain ourselves.
(honestly this all depends heavily on seojin's age because with the flashback scene and how she's a junior employee, i really don't think daewoong could be any older that 37. hardly. possible. that's my cake, eat it.)
talking about age again, i like to think that the gap between the older two and daewoong is more than a mere two-three years. even though they look like very mean college kids here.
but - gunwoong had two kids, right? the oldest at least 16 or 15 years old.
the son was wearing a jacket in the hospital scene (ep 2 i believe?) while his sister was in a uniform, it's possible to presume that he just started college, so 18 at most.
say that gunwoong got married in his late 20s - around 27, and had kids soon after. with that number, he'd passed away at… 42-ish. at least. but i think him and sewoong could be way older than that, because it's vewy reasonable to me that when the two were in early elementary years, 6 or 7 year olds, their emotionally distant dad just brings in a new woman after their mother passed with a baby in tow. without the right orientation that would have been a despicable prospect that the hate lasted years after. equally worse even if only daewoong comes to be raised in the house when their mother's alive because father wants to take responsibility for the bastard. same deal if there are no mothers around and just three brothers not knowing what to do with each other. no healthy emotional attendance or proper parent figure, plus the influence of how others might degrade daewoong's low birth, so they just—sewoong hated his guts and gunwoong only started to acknowledge daewoong a year before he died like—
he ended up rising above them all. damn king.
