Intro!
Howdy! I’m SodaPop and this is my tiny little writing blog. When I started this blog I THOUGHT I was going to fluff it up with some posts first before accepting requests. But I ran out of ideas pretty quickly. I want to make this work, I want to post fanfiction so I’m just going to make a fresh start and open the inbox.
I will write: ----------------------------------------------------------------
-Violence, Death
-Romantic x readers, platonic x readers, familial x readers
-Multiple characters in one post (Max: 4)
I won’t write: ---------------------------------------------------------------
-Extreme gore (Will clarify if asked)
-Nsfw (The farthest I will go is making out / Implications of sex)
-Incest
-Cheating scenarios
-Character x Character (x reader only)
Material that I’m ready to write about (For now): ------------------------------------------
-Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
-FNAF Security Breach
-Super Mario (No specifics)
-Pokemon Sword/Shield
-Pokemon Legends Arceus
~~ Alright I hope that’s everything covered! Thanks for visiting my blog! ~~

Hello!! Im really really sorry if im disturbing u or anything but i wanted to request a matchup of thats ok😭
Since I saw that they were open, I'd like to request a twst matchup^^ be warned my grammar is really eurghgh bad😢😢
So starting off with my personality,, Im an enfp, 7w6, scorpio sun, cancer moon, and sagittarius rising!
Im honestly a really fun and charming person to be with -said pretty much everyone i know
But even though I'm fun to be with, i can lowk be pretty annoying😭 But shoving that aside, Im really caring, really motherly tbh. Ive sorta been a personal nurse AND doctor for my friends - and family members when they were sick - as a child and now. Im kinda like,, a duplicate of emu otori and mizuki akiyama from pjsk..!
I can always cheer anyone up, jokes, comforting words, anything! I always try my best to make people happy,, honestly kind of a people pleaser but whatever!
My friends tell me I remind them of a goldfish, so they just call me "the celestial goldfish of (gc name)"
VERY soft hearted person😞
Im really good with children somehow.. I dont even know how but yeah - somehow,, babies cry whenever i leave the room😭 so pretty much - im a good babysitter err aunt! I guess!
My love language is probably physical touch,, i always want to kiss my lovers cheeks, and hold their hands! Im asexual though so im like- really uncomfortable if it gets mistaken for something sexual😭😭
I also love giving gifts to my friends even though im broke asf
Buuuuuut moving on - what abt my interests, hobbies??
I love astronomy so so much, and stargaze whenever given the chance! I've memorized like 10 constellations in the spam of 5 minutes since i have a photographic memory (even when i have the memory span of a goldfish,, wow)
I also love art! Sculpting, painting, music (that counts right?) Anything.. It calms me so so much i just love it😍😍
I also like gaming, even if i dont game as much anymore.. Im honestly so pro at every game i swear💯💯💯‼️‼️‼️
I also like collecting anything and everything. Plushies, sea shells, dolls, make up, mirrors.. No wonder im poor damn
i love listening to music too, i mean who doesnt!! Stan twice and yousei teikoku (lob their music sm)
I also like reading, and writing too! I mostly read and write poetry, sometimes i cry because i relate to it though huhu..
I also love love loveee shopping, especially with friends! I also buy atleast 1 or 2 plush(ies) whenever i go shopping because of my unhealthy obsession with them😔🤞
So liek after i just told u all of that pls let me tell u random stuff abt me🥰🥰
I usually get into fights (depending on my mood tbh) and end up just dating the person i was fighting😭 (enemies 2 lovers fr)
I dress in lolita fashion!! Mostly sweet lolita, but i dress in gothic lolita at times!
I am an energy ball,, no, i am a rain cloud looking to ruin someones day,, no, i am both.
I honestly love rainy days sm😍😍 sometimes i like it when its kinda stormy, but where im from were more prone to floods so keyword SOMETIMES😭
I totally give off black cat, introvert, loner, emo vibes at first glance but i am the total opposite. I WILL BECOME UR BEST FRIEND IN LIKE THE SPAN OF A MINUTE
Even though im more extroverted, and energetic, im sort of a calm person tbh. The perfect person to go to if you wanna have fun or just calm down!
I actually like being more educated on true crime, reding them.. That stuff.. It usually just ends up in me being more uhhmm dead inside tbh😭
I AM THE BULLYING TARGET 4 ALL OF MY FRIENDS PLZ HELP😔😔
I give people the weirdest nicknames, and they do too - like.. "Goldfish" "voodoo doll seller" "kulangot at boga seller" there are weirder stuff but atp it would just become a whole 29739373837386383937392729 word essay😟😟
I adopt introverts, and become their bestie, so we sorta just become the sun and moon trope😭
Anyways,, im just gonna tell u my type now😍😍 beware since this is gonna be long (i have like 17 crushes who are all the different person with waaay different personalities)
INTROVERTS NA SUPER SOBRA ULTRA CUTE GWAPO POGI GANDA AUGGGHGH LOVE THEM SOOO MUCH THEY MAKE MY HEART BEAT 100x FASTER❤❤
ppl with the same vibe as me. Me and that other person r gonna be commiting arson probably /jj
Confident ppl that give of "gege ml boy who plays basketball for a living"
INTROVERTS W/ THE SAME INTEREST AS ME💯💯
Practically all of my best friends (im besties with everyone in my school ahahahhaha....)
hopefully i didnt take up too much of ur time and that the reqs dont close after i just typed this😔😔 TYSM HWIAH THANKYU BE MY FRIEND PO IM COOL I SWEAR‼️🤞
Lol oh my- waking up to this was a great surprise, you seem very cool so I hope I see you around ‼️‼️
Anyways, I match you up with...
Tumblr media
Rook Hunt!
Through your request, I was getting the vibe that you were hoping for someone who was introverted but I feel like an extrovert would be much better to match you up with! Rook at first would totally fall for your mask of being a loner and ngl like wet cat energy. I'm not sure about you but I'm 100% sure that Rook has talked to everyone on the NRC campus at least once. So, it was to his surprise how you seemed to be didn't match how you acted at all!
Also regarding weird name names he'll give you one back in return! Besides Floyd he wouldn't expect anyone to give him a weird nickname so when you gave him a nickname he gave you the nickname Madame/Monsieur Renard(e) which means fox in french!
Also, be prepared for him to break out the french and compliment you in french. "Je t'adore" "Tu regarde magnifique aujourd'hui" Although they seem such general pharses he means everything he says.
If you didn't know this man's family is r i c h- He has villa's in every kingdom of Twisted Wonderland, I doubt he's as rich as Kalim, Idia or Vil but he still probably has a pretty penny or two to spend. Anything within reason he'd buy for you!
Videogames? Rook would probably try to play a couple just for you but as he would say it "How about we switch it up and go to chasse (hunt)"
Overall, Rook matches your energy. Plus he'd do anything to make you happy. He's always one step ahead of you and is always ready to help you, all you have to give him is your love and he'll reciprocate it tenfold.
Runner-Up
Idia Shroud

okay sorry for the late response!!! but here's the yap (be ready for bad grammar. lets hope I at least got everyone's name correctly spelled. and beware this is kind of long.) also beware lots of parenthesis:
basically its a sitcom from the late 2000s-early 2010s about these guys who work at a university in California. they work in the science department and they are the 'nerdy social outcasts I watch sci-fi' kind of guys. basically the point of the show is they are trying to get girls but they are losers so they don't. (but they do eventually I guess.)
heres a quick rundown on the characters (I've watched like half of the show so I think?? I have them down pretty much but I may have forgotten things so)(also sorry if any of these descriptions are offensive, they are just 'in a nutshell' type paragraphs, and are based on what the show represents them as, being rude or offensive is NOT my intent)
Leonard Hofstadter. i'm pretty sure he's supposed to be the most normal and level-headed one out of the entire group, but still weird.(because if he was normal why would he be a main character) I think he's the first one to get a girlfriend. idk if this is important but he is an experimental physicist. (okay yeah not much to say about him)
Sheldon Cooper. he is Leonard's roommate. he is very intelligent and I'm just going to flat out and say this: he is autistic. it is never stated that he is but it is very obvious that was the intent. he is probably the most "weird" out of the whole group. he comes up with contracts called '[topic] agreements.' (ex. 'roommate agreement') he has a specific 'spot' on the couch that he gets fussy if you sit in it. the list goes on but you get it. (he also scared off multiple roommates with this behavior) (I would also say he is aro/ace but you know with these types of shows they have to have love interests so whatever...) he is a theoretical physicist and I think(??) won a Nobel prize in the show?? (I wouldn't know I didn't finish it) was raised in Texas and graduated high school at 11. (seeing from what I have given you you can assume why there is a whole show based on his childhood. PS it is way better than the big bang theory.)
Howard Wolowitz. scrawny, turtleneck-wearing guy who still lives with his mom. tries to hit on girls but is actually just creepy. (I also believe he is Jewish but I don't know if that is relevant) he is an engineer (the space kind. don't know what those are called. he has been to space before. Sheldon makes fun of him for being an engineer bc Sheldon thinks he's better than everyone)
Raj Koothrappali. he is Indian and in the first couple seasons has a problem where he can't talk to ["pretty"] women unless drunk. he eventually overcomes this, though. he is an astrophysicist. also If I'm correct his parents are rich (??)
now onto the girls!
Penny Teller (?? idk about the last name I had to search for one because its never really said and the first Google results only showed her name AFTER she got married.) she is Leonard and Sheldon's neighbor. she is the token blonde "hot" and "not smart" one in the group. she is from nebraska, wants to be an actress, and works at the cheesecake factory. she has a history of toxic boyfriends. she eventually ends up with Leonard, though.
Bernadette Rostenkowski. she is blonde, short, and feisty. she is a scientist and works in microbiology. she ends up marrying Howard, getting him out of his mom's house.
Amy Farrah Fowler. (okay sorry if this one sounds mean I don't like her that much) she is a neuroscientist. guess who's love interest she is!!! that's right. Sheldon's. she is one of those "weird' girls who never really had a boyfriend but read a bunch of romance novels and stuff and dreams of having one. she eventually finds this in Sheldon. (yes, yes I know its for his character development, but I don't like the way they went about it. and Im not going to say anything else about her because I really dont)
(I am also pretty sure Raj gets a love interest but I don't know anything about her because I haven't gotten there yet and probably never will)
ok rant time. my least favorite episode out of the episodes I've watched is the episode where they have a fake prom (well not fake but not a high school one) because all of the boys never got one (I am pretty sure the girls didn't either, besides for Penny obviously.) (they didn't get one because they either didn't go or went without a date which made it inadequate I guess?? also Sheldon was like 10-11 so he didnt either but I don't think he cared) anyway, everyone goes with their respective dates (I forgot if Raj had a date) and its great and all, except for like half the episode everyone (well idk if everyone but at leas Leonard and Penny) were like "Sheldon!! you know what usually happens after prom, right??" (obviously insinuating coitus.) okay and I don't remember the rest, I think Amy tells Sheldon something along the lines of: "well Sheldon you don't have to, I would want to do that with you but I guess I'll just have to wait until you are ready." or something like that.
ANYWAYYY, TLDR(not really) I think people don't like the show because the humor is outdated. (meaning it can be ableist and misogynistic at times.)
personally, after watching Young Sheldon I don't really like this show as much. okay yeah enough about Young Sheldon but I'm just saying its popular for a reason. also apologies to anyone who had to scroll through all of this.
okay that was my yap goodnight. (image of characters under the cut)
Tumblr media
left to right standing up: Raj (Indian man wearing the collared shirt, sweater vest, and cyan jacket, looking in the distance), Bernadette (blonde with glasses, on the phone), Amy (brunette with glasses)
left to right sitting: Penny (blonde looking bored/annoyed), Sheldon (blue shirt looking very annoyed at something), Howard (guy with the bowl cut, computer, and 3D/anaglyph glasses) Leonard (guy sitting on the arm of the couch with a book, wearing glasses)
heeyyyyyyyyy
Hi marzzy! :D

medieval au hcs [sfw]
anime: attack on titan
characters: yelena, hange, levi
a/n: First time writing head canons hope you enjoyyy, there will be more parts to this ofc :D (Beware any grammar/spelling mistakes I read it over ten times but I somehow always manage to miss something)
Inspired by @lexstacy-fics knight! Yelena <3
Tumblr media
Yelena
A Knight, a leader in her position only second behind the King’s head knight. Trained for this role her entire life, it also helps that she’s 6’7 and made of muscle, she can snap you in two.
Extremely hardworking to a fault, her entire life revolves around the kings demands, she’s at his beck and call. Never has time for herself, doesn’t help that the rookie knights never listen.
Born from a Lord, so money has never been an issue but honor is extremely important to her
Is not afraid to kill for the kingdom, and is known to get rid of anyone that steps out of line….sometimes even permanently, whether asked by the king or out of her own will
Raging bitch face syndrome, her looks naturally kill. Definitely hard to approach, the King seems easier to talk to according to her subordinates.
Stick up her ass when it comes to rules, always follows them to a tee and makes sure those around her are also doing so….even the king
Hates the summer the heat turns her armor into a fuqing oven and she hates it
Loves to go into town and see the way the villagers cower in her presence, while simultaneously praising the ground she walks on
God complex
“ Never fear as long as I’m around, feel free to place your troubles on to me”
Not a loser, has won every war she’s lead and helped lead...you can imagine how this has fed her ego
Hange
A wizard, the kingdoms sole wizard
Hit or miss with their work. The good is really good and the bad….well….really bad
Accidentally sent the kingdom into an eternal winter from trying to create a talking snowman…dont worry fixed quickly, in part thanks to the head knights threats (still has nightmares from his words)
No family, they randomly appeared in the kingdom and quickly accepted thanks to the miracles and power they possess. Folks have rumored they came from the forbidden land as a spy….but those are just rumors right?
Had a spooky wizard tower built but they hated it and now reside within the castle, in the dungeons where any unlucky prisoners are volunteered for their spells
Hates violence so the bulk of their magic is spent on protective enchantments
Loves the art work collected by the king, can stare for hours at any paintings, just thinking and wondering of the worlds created in the illustrations
Wakes up at 3pm, can not be reached before that hour, annoys the head knight to no end
New set of glasses a week, because they always end up losing or breaking them (could easily cure their sights, but claims glasses add to their character)
Low key mysterious aura to them, but instantly forgotten by people once they open their mouth
“ Now if I could just give the spiders the ability to talk, we could have our own little spider harvesting army ” “or you could bless the soil to fix the famine” “hmmmm I guess I could do that too”
Levi
Head knight, with having the highest rank, one of the kingdoms hero’s alongside Yelena and Hange
Hates Hange, but is somehow always found in the dungeons with them
Constantly giving the king unsolicited advice
“The dining tables cloth is entirely too peach, completely ruins the ambiance of the room” “…….okay”
Extremely cold, personality wise and also the rookies claim the room drops a few degrees when he enters it
Eyes like daggers, his face has probably killed a few enemy’s just from his stare. ( But what he’s really thinking is how the silver plated armor on the enemy’s horse ruins the shine of the emerald detailing on the enemy’s body armor)
Aesthetics are extremely important to him, sure the enemy stole land from the kingdom but the real crime lies in the incoherency in their army’s uniform
Has a personal office in the barracks just for drinking his tea
Up before the sun, and never asleep before it
Admired by the villages women/men but never has time for love, too focused on keeping the castle from falling apart due to Hange’s spells or the Kings ridiculous demands (once asked Hange to create a bouncy house out of bubbles for his daughters )
“Seriously how the fuck is this building still standing…”

Uh.. yeah I didn't think I would write something. But the prompt was cute and I wanted to publish it by Valentine's Day even though I ended up being late anyway;;
I wasn't able to give it a once-over, because of the time constraint. There may or may not be sentences that flow awkwardly, grammar and punctuation errors, formatting mishaps, etc T_T most importantly, beware of plot holes.
Happy Gofushi 2022 Valentine's Day~
Also decided to add some of my thoughts while writing this (aka word dump) ↓
I named the file "me die when I write heart AU" because I would spend days drafting the plot, reasons behind the characters, the extent of a heart's influence, etc o_o for example, what would a bank gain by safekeeping a heart? if the Zen'in get Fushiguro's heart, how can they exploit his power (my guess is: wearing the ring of someone else lets you use their powers to an extent or idk, Zen'in sussy clan magic hahaha;;)? why would Satoru steal Megumi's heart? how to write Megumi without feelings?
The original draft of this story was a Phantom Thief Satoru taking inspiration from Kaito Kid of the anime Magic Kaito 1412 (if you think about it, Kaito, Aoko, and the Inspector could fill the roles of Satoru, Megumi, and Touji let it be known tho, that I prefer KaiShin). Therefore, it was supposed to follow the general plot from MK: Phantom thief Satoru steals hearts every full moon, but ends giving them back. One day, as per routine, he steals Megumi's heart, but doesn't return it. That is because he finally found the ring he was looking for, the 10 Shadows, capable of granting immortality (revive would be cool according to JJK theories). I also considered it being any wish. The story sounds compelling, but looking at it closely, people don't display their hearts/rings like jewels, Satoru cannot destroy Megumi's heart like how Kaito is supposed to destroy the Pandora. Also, how will it end? will Megumi use his heart to heal Satoru from a mortal wound at the cost of his feelings forever? These and many other plot holes were a big headache. I was mixing too many themes, so something had to break.
That doesn't mean I will reject the possibility of a different story with eccentric phantom thief Satoru and maybe assistant OR detective Megumi. But considering this was my first fanfic even after being an avid reader of them for more than a decade, I can't promise more will be written. I'm bad at words after all hahaha...
If I decide to continue this, it would be hard because I feel like I have to give gfsh their 9 years back which means... a ton of writing (as deserved LOL). The next chapters would probably be series of gfsh mini episodes. I could imagine one being: gofushi tries to infiltrate the party of a possible power user, Satoru tricks Megumi into crossdressing+fake dating. I think Im dumping most of my fav tropes on this AU LOL
I would definitely try to rewrite this oneshot for a multi chaptered fic. These plot holes hurt me... but I rushed the publication for VDay.
At first, I wasn't going to include powers, it clashed with the story and created more plot holes (it's akin to lying to get out of a lie, only that it makes things worse;;). However, the reintroduction of techniques enriched the plot.
Does it seem like Megumi is showing feelings even without the heart? uh idk, Im awful at this topic (its hard for me to describe or identify feelings) but first half Megumi acts based on logic. Sukuna confession->unnecessary crowd and rumours. Heart being stolen->how will he keep getting money from the Zen'ins? Suspicious guy outside->hindrance to schedule. Tsumiki-> uh he is doing it out of courtesy/keeping social appearance? Im not sure ;-; Basically, he wants an ordinary life like Saiki from the anime Saiki Kusuo no Psinan.
What did Touji do to Satoru? Good question! I don't know either :D I left it up on the air on purpose. Well, Touji isn't that bad here. He let Megumi have a chance at saving his heart for 12 years maybe on the hopes that Satoru would pull through eventually. Is he still alive? who knows.
Why does it seem like Satoru knows Megumi already? Hmmm not sure, he just wrote like that to me. Probably because I felt bad how their 9 years never happened in this AU so I sped up their bonding process... or maaaybe it's actually a Satoru that has memories from the original JJK timeline. Imagine multiple gofushi AUs happening together at the same time and heartAU!Satoru is aware of the canon universe or the rest of the universes too (this has been done before in the light novel from another anime, but Im not going to spoil it, if you know, you know haha). Or we could always choose the trusty reincarnation AU >w< because Magic Kaito 1412's second opening is about a couple reincarnating. So maybe that vibe rubbed off on me.
-> Wow.. imagine a multiverse gofushi fic o_o but similar to that light novel. It would be amazing... amazingly tragic. It actually doesn't sound so bad, I think I could make it work.
Why does Megumi trust Satoru so fast? Yay, isn't it more romantic? similar to fated souls, when you meet someone new and click instantly. I wrote him that way on purpose, for example, how Megumi calmed down after Satoru joke. Also, because of the previous reason too. Halfway into writing the fic, I realized... that their nine years together were sacrificed! T_T
I wasn't sure how to write the part where Satoru showed his ring to Megumi. Initially, it was a box, but I was pressed with time, and somehow introduced Satoru's ring instead. Now that I think about it, it's funny how Satoru let Megumi see his ring kekeke like giving his heart to him. But it's also a magician's stunt of diverting attention (albeit a bad one).
I feel like I could write more, but I have to go buy birthday gifts o_o and my brain isn't quite working after staying up late writing the fic. Anyway, if you enjoyed the story, thank you for reading! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

35 Questions for Fanfiction Writers
well since dearest @bachint asked, here goes nothing!
1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)
well if no downplaying’s allowed i guess i’d give it a 3/5? some mistakes since i’m not a native plus i”m still working on getting my english style better! i like what i come up with all the same, i’ve improved a lot these past two years, and my grammar isn’t that bad i guess?
2. Why do you write fanfiction?
to do what developers didn’t do in the first place to make good use of my imagination, to cope with the fact that some characters don’t exist and i will never follow another one of their adventures, to forget about a boring real life...
3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
my writing doesn’t stand out lmaooo but i guess i’m always trying to focus on the character’s psychology, struggles and all that, so if someone likes my work, it’s ‘original’ bc it’s usually quite different from the usual stories where there are a lot of dialogues and interactions.
4. Are there any writers that inspire you?
i’ve been inspired a lot by @welcometogressenheller (i wish i could do as well as she does.....), @aceklaviergavin (kudos to you even if you never see that post and you probably don’t know who i am), and some others whose name i forgot (sorry!)
5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?
i didn’t write much but i guess that my latest fics are really nice (There’s No Light In You Anymore, and the whole Faith series on AO3). also my big project “Now That You’re Gone”, i’m glad i’ve been able to write that much for it and i intend on continuing as soon as i find the motivation!
6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?
pain, struggles and all that comes with it as long as it’s in the character’s mind, because beware here you step in a dark space
7. What element of writing do you struggle with most?
ordinary scenes of life? i always find my writing lacking as soon as i step out of my comfort zone, i’m all for rambling and never-ending pain
8. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write?
desmond/descole surely
9. Which character(s) do you find most difficult to write?
all the good guys (and dimitri allen because i’d love writing about him but i’m? just unable to?)
10. What’s your favorite genre to write for?
that may come as a surprise! angst!
11. Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?
a mix of question 8 and 10 and you’ve got your answer
12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.
professor layton and the shattering secrets!!! i’m so happy of what this AU will look like when i’ll be done writing the following chapters, at first it probably looks annoying but heck i wanna promise anyone who’s reading it that the plot twists are gonna be worth it even though the overall background isn’t that original because i’ve mixed up different elements from other games (aaaand we’re back in our oh-so-amazing comfort zone that covers up a massive lack of imagination)
13. First fandom you ever wrote for?
ummm? the vampire diaries maybe? back when i was 10 or 11 lol
14. What’s your favorite fandom to write for?
hands up... pROFESsoR LayTON
15. What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve ever written for?
i didn’t write for many fandoms but back in my younger days i used to do self-insert fics with the vampire diaries cast and it was so odd and i wish i hadn’t just confessed that on my tumblr blog
16. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?
nothing that comes to mind
17. A trope you’ll never, ever write for.
dunno either
18. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?
PL and the shattering secrets! huge canon divergence and one heck of an AU (also its original version is much worse, my mind was going crazy when i was 15)
19. Do you prefer canon-compliant, AUs, or something in-between?
i love reading AUs, writing some requires solid imagination which i have not, but honestly i don’t really mind
20. Gen fic or shippy stuff?
gen
21. Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)
desmond sycamore x his wife / randall ascot x hershel layton (be it romantic or platonic) / randall ascot x basically anyone from the MM i guess though i didn’t write anything about that yet (it’s about to change guys)
22. Do you listen to anything while you write?
yea i can’t write without listening to music - any playlist does the trick as long as i like what i’m listening to but usually i listen to sad soundtracks, or i’m inspired by some random lyrics
23. Do you prefer prompts and challenges, or completely independent ideas?
i’d go with challenges bc my horrible ass has very few ideas but i usually come up with independent ideas
24. One-shots or multi-chaptered works?
one shots!
25. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!
i don’t remember ;_;
26. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?
i’ve got one OS in mind with randall/layton but i don’t want to be the talk of the town because it’s probably going to be awful? also any other fic including the PL3 crew
27. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?
@welcometogressenheller telling me she believed i was a native!!! i struggle so much trying to improve my writing style in english and i have a lot of insecurities so it was so heartwarming and incredible to read...
also basically any other comment where people tell me they like what i write. i love that writers feel the need to take some time reviewing my works bc i need constant validation
28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing?
well i’ve never really received ‘harsh’ criticism or anything, save for some very rare remarks on my grammar so i guess i don’t know? at first it’s always sad to see that what i’ve done isn’t perfect but i guess it’s impossible to be perfect so i’m really happy that people take some time to underline what looks wrong to them
29. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?
currently trying to with shattering secrets and it’s actually a great way to improve!
30. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?
MERCILESS ANGST
31. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!
i wish i could but it would perhaps be a huge spoiler so i don’t wanna say much about them...
i have 1) annabell sycamore, des’s wife, whose personality fits very much mine. she’s a playwright, spends lot of her time writing and acting in front of des AND WITH des. also she’s a very realistic person and some people usually tell her that she’s being too pessimistic
2) aurelia from the shattering secrets and on her i really cannot say much... if anyone’s read this far it would be so nice if you could give SS a shot by the way!!
32. Summarize a random fic of yours in 10 words or less.
desmond sometimes finds happiness but it’s always taken from him
(isn’t that a summary for everything i’ve ever written?)
33. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?
i don’t translate my works from my original language to english, i write straight in english. i spend a lot of time making sure i haven’t done any grammatical mistakes, checking the definition and the use of some words i’m not sure about, and sometimes it’s quite a pain and it can be also very discouraging bc i end up believing what i write comes from a random internet dictionary while deep down i know it’s not true but hey what can i say. huge insecurities laid bare here.
(if any reader of mine’s reading this, i apologize)
34. Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of.
(beware: spoilers for the whole prequel trilogy!!!)
“Hershel Layton was puzzled. A funny emotion to feel for someone who loved puzzles that much, but nothing could ever describe better the way he’d felt for hours now, hours that seemed like ages.So much did happen in the span of a few hours.
First he’d learned his parents could be targeted by Targent, then Aurora had made it clear that she didn’t want to live anymore, all so she could protect them. Then Desmond—no, Descole—had taken the key from her hands, and revealed himself as the dangerous scientist Layton knew him to be.
Then they’d fought. Despair was filling the air, though Hershel didn’t understand what Descole meant when he cried that the Azran legacy was all he had to live for.
And as if there hadn’t been enough betrayals as it was, Emmy was soon to follow. Luke had been abducted. He’d had no other choice than siding with Descole to prevent Bronev from unleashing doom on Earth. Misery didn’t seem to end.
Just when he’d thought he’d finally be able to change things, Descole had been ready to sacrifice himself to save Luke. And then…
Then everything just collapsed.
He held his agonizing brother in his arms; the one who’d wanted so hard to take him down only a few hours back was now confessing, fearing death was on the way.“

from ‘Six Times Hershel Layton Remembered, Plus The One Time He Didn’t’
35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!
oops i haven’t got anything more to say but thank you for reading? perhaps?

Tumblr media
That’s the only quirky title I could come up to make this a little bit more interesting.
I’m reviewing my favorite book again. More like making another post about it. Because I seem like the type of person to not shut up about something she truly, truly, deeply love. Though, I won’t really making a review. Because I am in no state to make one of those. I don’t know I just I’m not that qualified to that yet. Though I read millions of books, I still won’t. I re-read my last “review” and it just make me cringe because I can’t understand what I’m saying and there’s a bunch of errors on my sentence. Not that this whole post won’t containing grammar errors, but still. Also, the cringing intensifies when I saw that Jennifer Niven (the author of this book) liked my bizarrely wrong blog entry. Ms. Niven, if by any chance, reading this again, I love your work and I’m sorry for a lot of grammatical errors. Ms. Niven, your work changed my life and help me get through a rough time. Sounds cliché but its the truth.
To repeat what I typed, I won’t make a review. Yet, I’ll post a very private diary log which where I somehow discuss my opinions about this book. So here it is.
Trigger warning: Suicide topics, cutting and mental issues might come up on the next following paragraph. And it’s really graphic. Because it is a personal log on my digital diary. Beware.
May 17, 2019: Theodore’s death, Avengers: End game and GoT discussion.
I never had a proper review of this book. Because lets be real here. Its me and probably won’t matter. Last time or more like last last year, I made a book recommendation/favourites about this book. And I emphasize on that blog post that it’s not a book review. NOT A BOOK REVIEW. At all.
Because:
I am scared of the internet scrutinizing my opinions and views about this book.
It’s about mental health or part of it. So it is really a sensitive topic and I even haven’t figured myself out. So I’m not really sure if  I’m the right person you want to have an opinion regarding with this topic. One thing about me is that you don’t go asking me questions on how you figured your life or how you deal with depression because, oh boy oh boy you’re in a wrong place honey.
Last night I searched Theodore Finch on twitter. Yes, twitter. Because that is where you get the real opinions. Real tea. As well as the stupid ones. And I read one thread or whatever you call it, some sort of a conversation or replies from one girl to another. (I just assumed you’re girl and I’m sorry if you’re not. I am really sorry for misgendering you.) The other girl said that she’s kind of annoyed how everyone around Theodore doesn’t get the signs when it’s literally on their faces. When you come to think of it. Its true. All the signs of Theodore’s disease was there. Bluntly on their faces. It’s kind of fascinating how it’s not noticed by his family and friends or even Violet. But again right now thinking about it, maybe because it happened when this world just slowly noticing or paying attention about mental health. Hold a second, let me search when it was published. Yeah, I'm right its 2015. A year of coming of age for the late Baby Boomers are introduced to depression and when people, mostly teenagers are committing suicide. I would be very harsh on my words because it was just me talking to myself anyways. So yeah, that's also the year where I'm cutting myself and wanted to kill myself. So no wonder Finch’s family have no idea about his mishaps and adventures. So about that discussion, it was already solved. That year was just the year where naïve people are introduced to mental health and issues. Anyways, back to that conversation. The other girl defended the book/author. That the author, Jenifer Niven, was just portraying real life happenings. That these things happens in real life. People really die because of mental health issues. By the way, Finch mental diagnosis wasn’t really mentioned on the book directly. As far as I can remember. That’s why I'm re-reading it again now. But so far zero mentioned of diagnosis or bipolarity(Is that even a word? idc.). Just the mention of him wanting to kill himself, the erotic changes in his moods, lack of appetite and being insomniac. He doesn’t sleep one night or he sleeps then have very bad nightmares after that. It’s pretty obvious but again, let’s refer to the points given above. Oh, oh! Then there’s one time he repainted his bedroom from blood red to blue. If that’s not alarming enough then idk anymore. But yes, 2015. The coming of age and the year where we birthed more stupid late boomers. But, yes. Wild book. A very wild and very BRILLIANT book. It’s the stupid characters or the people in Finch’s life that suck. Which is why I kind of sided to the girl who said that that the author doesn’t really write the characters well. Let’s call her Girl A. And the other girl who defend Niven, Girl B. I’m pretty sure you’re both girls but just in case, I’m gonna apologize again if I'm  misgendering you. Or if you don’t wanna be called a girl. I can’t say or disclose that Girl B was wrong because he clearly have a point too. It happens in real life. People die from depression and I might be one soon.
Just wanna say that It’s a good discourse. Arguments like that are my favorites where both sides are not wrong nor right either, makes you really think. A read. Both the book and that twitter discourse. If you happened to read it, good. But if not sorry I can’t link it for you.
So for my opinion (oh no, here we go) I agree on both of them , as if its not yet obvious. I guess if it was written in the present days the author could’ve change the characters and made Finch alive. Or checked-in in a mental institution or he’ll be given a medical assistance he really needs. Because the only medical attention he was given was thru his Guidance councilor, Embryo. Which is a good thing, but also I think Finch’s situation needs more professional attention. No offence to all guidance councilors out there. I know you guys try your best. But you know, Niven can make Finch visit a psychiatrist in a clinic/mental institution right? Like violet. I know Finch’s financial state is bad but.. idk there’s something can be done here. But again it was during that time where people are shouting “Depression isn’t real”, stupid people posting tweets and Facebook status on how “Suicide is for the week”; they watch 13 reasons why and decided to skip the whole point of the show and just assumed that “yeah depression is for the weaklings”. It only shows how ignorant people are. They’re the kind of people who standby when you get punch on the face or laugh when people spreads rumors and lies about you. Basically, bystanders. I’m sorry I’m a little snappy. If you haven’t noticed. I don’t know I’m just mad today.
I think the book still holds it. And justify the ending. Though part of me really hate it too. But it kind of made me realized about a lot of things, not just about me but also about how I should interact with other human beings. I hate the ending because it breaks my heart but I guess it was necessary?? Or not. Any how,  It was a good ending. Maybe its just me because I’m a masochist. But I can not think of any other impactful and realistic way on ending it. (Rereading this again and I just need to clear things up. That IM NOT A MURDERER OR A KILLER. I DONT NORMALIZE SUICIDE,  but from a standing point the ending is justified. Its sad but its, again, realistic.) But still, breaks my heart, Theodore is a precious boy. Who deserves nothing but love. And I hope his story was more known by the people so jackasses would know how to treat their family and friends better.
[This part was cut because I talked about Avengers and GoT ending; Which is very relevant to this topic]
Love,
Ara xx
So yeah, that’s some of my diary entry. Re-reading it makes me realized how funny I am. Jesus I should read more of these. Who knows, I might post it here. If it’s not that personal. I’ll end this here now. I hope wherever you are you’re having a good day.

Lady Drummer
A/N: I hope you enjoy it :) let me know if you do and also if you don’t, feedback is well received.
Pairing: 70s!Roger Taylor x Reader
Context: This is a college AU situated around 1970, I tried not to include much details about the place or clothes to avoid mistakes.
Warnings: SMUT (MUST BE +18), Bottom Roger!, Dom Reader, Drinking and smoking. Beware of grammar mistakes (not a native English speaker)
Word count: 1.8k~
Tumblr media
Nine o’clock on a Friday, you were chatting with your best friend and she kept trying to convince you to go to a party with her. Not that you didn’t like to party, you loved to, but today was not your day, college was awful and your asshole philosophy teacher decided it would be a good idea to leave homework for the weekend.
“I’m telling you Nina I need to study and do this stupid work” you explained to your friend who even made the effort of going to your room just to get you to go out today “Anyways, what is so special about this so called party?”
“First of all, you can do that work tomorrow and second it’s not a so called party it is a party Y/N, it is one of the biggest ones of the semester we must go.” Nina argued “I promise you we will have fun and probably get laid”
“Get what? Ok fuck you? I’m not that desperate” You clarified
“Then forget that part Y/N, come one it will be fun, I promise” she begged now looking at you with puppy eyes
“Fine, but if I get bored or it is too much, I will leave” You warned
“Sure sure, get dressed now” Nina pressured you, it was not that late but the party was a bit far away from the dorms.
Nina helped you choose your clothes, she almost knew them all, you’ve been best friends since junior high school. You went with a black short skirt and a colorful shirt. In the way to the party Nina talked to you about this guy she liked and apparently he was going too, it all made sense now, she just wanted to go because of him, she always managed to convince you to do things.
When you arrived to the place you noticed it was indeed a big party and your social anxiety started kicking in, at least you were with Nina. You walked in, there was a table in the entrance with some closed beers in it, you took two for you and your friend.
“Cheers, I guess” you said to Nina while handing over the beer.
“Cheers!” She joyfully answered, but you were almost able to hear her over the noise.
“Hey, I am going to look for the guy I was talking about, go meet people” She yelled and left without giving you a chance to get mad.
You thought of leaving but if you went all the way to get there might as well stay for a bit, since the place was a frat house you started walking around, when you found the kitchen you were about to finish your beer so you entered hopeful to find something else, and you did, there was around twenty beers in there so you grabbed one. You were about to leave when one of your favorite songs started playing. It was ‘stuck on you by Elvis Presley’. You decided to stay in the kitchen and fake play the drums just to have fun, you got so much into it you closed your eyes and for a moment you forgot about the world.
“Hi lady drummer” A soft pitched voice brought you back to the world, you opened your eyes to find a long haired blond guy looking at you with a beer and a cigarette in his hand “So do you play the drums or am I being fooled?” he asked and you couldn’t tell if he was making fun of you or hitting on you.
“I kind of play” You hesitated in that answer
“Show me” He stated with confidence
“Show you what now?” You asked confused of what was he asking for, there was no drums nearby if that was what he wanted
“Show me that you play” He reassured “There is a drum set upstairs”
“Is that you trying to take me up stairs? Because you don’t even know my name mate” You replied a bit mad, he was not polite at all
“Yeah true, sorry, I guess I got carried away, not everyday I meet a woman who can play the drums. I am Roger Taylor” he explained smiling “And you are?”
“I am Y/N, nice to meet you” You smiled back “Now, care to show me that drum set?”
“You better know how to use it” He joked opening the kitchen door for you and taking your hand to guide you upstairs
“And here it is” He said when you got to the room with the drum set in, there was also a guitar and a bass, it all made you wonder if he had a band or something but you didn’t care that much to ask
“Cool, then let me show you how bad I am” you joked knowing you were actually pretty good at playing the drums, you walked across the room and sat down looking for the drumsticks
“Here they are, love” he said handing them to you with a smile
“Here we go” you mumbled more to yourself than to him, you started playing some random solo you remembered from your high school band, it turned out really great but the face of Roger when you finished and looked at him was a surprise for you. He was genuinely without words.
“How was it?” you asked already knowing the answer
Roger walked towards you while biting his bottom lip “It was amazing but I do think it’s my turn” he said getting closer
You stood up and handed the drumsticks, with one hand he took them and with the other he softly touched your waist with a smirk on his face “thanks, love”. His touch made your whole body shiver. He sat down and the first second he started playing you realized he really knew how to play the drums, he totally hypnotized you. Looking at Roger while playing the drums was hot, he was so into it he started sweating, he was really passionate about it. His voice threw you back into reality.
“I see you liked it” He was already standing up and facing you, he was so close you could feel his breath “but you were good too” he winked at you
The fact that he was so close and how his attitude drastically changed made you all hot and bothered “You are in fact good, Roger Taylor” You managed to say without looking at him
“Yeah? Then why don’t you look at me?” He teased. He put his hand on your cheek and made you look at him “Come on, if you don’t look at me I won’t believe you” he was getting closer by the second
“I said you are good” You repeated, almost like a challenge, feeling his nose touch yours
“Now, I believe you” he smirked and leaned closer, your lips crashed together kissing softly. He pulled you closer taking you by the waist, he started to move his hands around your body, softly grabbing your bottom. He was going slow, way too slow, you decided you were the one taking the initiative. Luckily there was a sofa in that room so you grabbed him by his shirt and threw him on the sofa
“If you like what you see you’ll have to earn it” you told him starting to unbutton your shirt while walking towards him “Why don’t you take off that beautiful shirt of yours?”
He immediately took his shirt off and then tried to put his hands on your waist but you stopped him “Not so fast blondie” you teased with a smirk on you face “No touching until I tell you so”
You started kissing his neck slowly going down his body, you could feel his breathing going faster with anticipation of where your mouth was getting to. You stopped when you got to his pants. Slowly you started to unbutton them pulling them down to let his hardened length out. You gave it a few strokes licking your lips at the thought of having him inside your mouth. He passed a hand through your hair to encourage you. “Patience is a virtue my boy” you said right before passing your tongue over in hard cock with a really slow pace just to tease him
“Fuck Y/N…” he was already moaning.
“What did I just say about patience?” You teased his tip with your tongue
“Please” he begged
“Please what? Use your words Roger”
“Please suck my dick Y/N, I need those perfect lips around me” He admitted biting his lips
“Fine, just because you asked nicely” You agreed right before taking his length all in
“Fuck” he mumbled. You started moaning and the thought of Roger feeling your vibrations around him made you wet. He passed his hand through your hair and you fastened your pace, you could hear him moaning your name. You took him all in one more time until backing off to breathe and take your pants off. While you did that Roger couldn’t help but to touch himself.
“Need help with that?” You asked while adjusting yourself over him, now naked.
“Can I touch now?” He asked looking firmly at your chest “They are perfect”
You got your chest closer to his face you could almost feel his breathing “What’s the magic word?” you provoked him with a smirk on
“Please Y/N” He begged, you took his hands putting them on your chest he started massaging them and kissing them, giving your nipples special attention. He was good with his hands way too good, you needed him inside you, now.
“Roger… I need you, now” You breathed. He obeyed you and adjusted himself to enter you. You took him in without hesitation “Oh fuck Roger” you moaned at the feeling of him filling you up like that. His hands were now on your waist helping you move around his cock. You started riding him so hard the only thing you could hear where moans and the sound of your bodies slapping. He was making you feel so good you were on the edge.
“Y/N… fuck.. I am near- fuck” He was barely able to talk between moans. You started kissing his neck knowing you would leave a mark there
“I am close too, Roger. Come on, cum with me” You ordered and fastened your pace, he adjusted and was now hitting you in the right spot. “There… fuck.. keep going” you managed to whine.
Suddenly you felt his hand spanking your ass, that pushed you to the edge. You weren’t able to control yourself anymore when you screamed his name while riding your own orgasm. All you could feel now was pleasure and his hot body crashing into yours. He thrusted a few times more until moaning “Oh God Y/N”, he filled you up with his hot juices. Roger pulled out and you changed position sitting down next to him.
“Fuck” You said trying to catch your breath
“So...not only you good at drumming but you are a good shag too” Roger admitted lighting up a cigarette, the view of him smoking was indeed hot.
“I could say the same thing to you blondie” You replied remembering what your friend Nina said about getting laid tonight, “That bitch was right” you thought with a smirk on your face.

Heyy do you have any tips for writing fanfics ? I really like yours and want to be better at writing !!!
AHH thank youuu :’) I’m honoured you’re asking me! I’ll try my best to answer here, but if any of you want stuff clarified or if you want me to beta/edit your works, feel free to message me ^^
Warning: extremely long post ahead. It’ll be separated into two parts– structure and content.
Structure
1. Spelling and Grammar
This one is probably a given, although it’s not always present. Spelling and grammar are important because they are the structure to language– without them, your sentences may be more difficult to read and interpret, which is something that can easily turn readers away.
(Now I know a lot of writers in the fandom aren’t native English speakers, and it’s fine because the fact that they’re trying is already great! Learning another language is difficult and writing in it even more so.)
Probably the most noticeable things to watch out for: correct usage of “your” and “you’re” / “there”, “they’re”, “their” / “its” and “it’s”
Less obvious things: incorrect use of apostrophes/commas/semi-colons,   incorrect parallelism, shifts in tense
2. Formatting
The purpose of writing is conveying your ideas in a way that’s easy to understand for readers. That being said, formatting is another important thing to watch out for, because it may also be one of the first things a reader notices.
Separate your paragraphs! It doesn’t matter how many sentences there are; what’s important is that you start a new paragraph whenever you introduce a new idea.
When you should start a new paragraph: when a character starts saying something (dialogue) or doing something, when you’re about to focus on a new detail, etc.
Dialogue: make sure you start a new paragraph every time a new character speaks, or when switching between characters. It’s also important to make sure that when you clarify who is speaking. A rule of thumb I use is that I refer to the speaker in the sentence directly before or after the line of dialogue.
For example:
“Yo do you want to get chicken for dinner?” Jimin asks. Jungkook stares back at him questioningly.
What not to do:
“Yo do you want to get chicken for dinner?” Jungkook stares back at him questioningly.
Do you see how in the first one, it is CLEAR that Jimin is the one SAYING that line of dialogue? But in the second one, it isn’t clear at all. Is Jungkook the one asking the question, and then glancing at Jimin? Or is Jimin asking, but Jungkook is merely responding with his actions? It’s not clear and this will confuse your readers.
3. Flow
I didn’t think this was a thing until my writing and editing class last year. Since the purpose of writing is to convey your information to readers in an understandable manner, having good flow ensures that your audience reads without even noticing that they’re reading.
Bad flow: Have you ever noticed how when you’re reading, a specific part of a sentence might seem to stick out unnaturally? It may be a specific word or a transition, and it makes you step back for a moment and literally notice it.
Example: Feeling a bit hungry, I went backupstairs and walked into the kitchen. Grabbing the nearest ingredients that Icould find, I got a pot and cooked them together. Surprisingly, it didn’t tastehalf bad. I sat on the couch in the giantliving room and while eating, I heard a car pull up to the driveway outside. He must have returned. A few seconds later, he walked into the house.
See how the actions are almost BEING STATED? They’re written like they’re simply facts. The narrator has no tone, no conveyed emotion about the situation, and the first few sentences are even being stated in the SAME STRUCTURE. There isn’t much variation in sentence length, and they seem choppy.
jafjlkdajflkdjakfjas this was from a fic I wrote back in 2011 yes i hate myself
Example 2: Jungkook couldn’t stop staring at the boy in the corner. He wore a blue sweater pulled over a white blouse, black pants, and black shoes to match. His hair was styled nicely and he probably smelled good as well. Jungkook walked over, feeling impressed. The teacher wasn’t here yet and there were few other students in the room. He was nervous because the boy was just so good-looking.
…this is my attempt at making an example. Do you see how all this descriptions seem like they’re simply being stated again? He this, he that. He thought this, he did that, he was this, he wanted that. Yes, I want the readers to know what kind of clothes this secondary character is wearing (though I would personally advise against including descriptions like these unless it advances your character development or plot), but there are better ways to do it that don’t feel boring to the reader.
Good flow: You can usually tell if there’s good flow in a work when you don’t notice you’re reading at all; it’s like your eyes are naturally gliding across the page and the information just absorbs into your mind.
Example 2 from above, revamped: Jungkook couldn’t stop staring at the boy in the corner. He had this strong aura around him; there was something about the way that white collar sat under his sweater that carried the air of formality. Perhaps it wasn’t even his image, but rather the way that the boy carried himself, that impressed Jungkook so much. Strangely, he almost wanted to get closer and maybe even talk to the boy before class.
Notice how I use less descriptions here, yet it’s able to convey and imply even more information than the previous example? I vary the sentence length and this creates a kind of melody, and also switch between the active and passive voice, changing the tone of the sentences. Below is a fairly well-known image that highlights the importance of sentence length variation.
Tumblr media
Content
Title, Description, Read More
This seems pretty self-explanatory I guess? It’s all subjective, but here are a few things that I have noticed.
Title: Choose something that fits the genre of your fic. The title is the first thing that readers will notice, and it should be representative of your work. I’ve noticed that sometimes when you think the title implies one genre, the fic may actually turn out to be another.
Example: “Just Give Me a Reason” was my most recent fic, and even I know that the title does not fit the fic at all. The title sounds like it’s 120% angst and about the characters going through a divorce where they both know it’s not working yet they’re both just holding on to this one memory, this one experience that they know will never be found anywhere else.
…it’s actually a fake dating AU where bff!Jikook go off and do cheesy things and have a bunch of firsts in their fake relationship HAH
Description: Again, make sure this is representative of your fic and its genre. The length and style of description (and the tone you write it in!) usually imply what kind of fic it will be.
Angst example: Jimin counts down the time. He watches as the hands of theclock tick, contemplating how such a fine movement could mean the differencebetween everything. Between the faint glow of a twilight sunset and the pitchblackness of a cloudless sky. Between love and loss. Between life and death. A fine movement that when accumulated, can take up yourminutes, your hours, days, weeks, years. He wonders if it was all worth it.
Crack example: Of course Jungkook always says the wrong thing, but that’s never gotten him this embarrassed before. Or a date either. Oh and he’s never trying on jeans again.
Read More: Find the write place to put it!! I guess this is Tumblr only because other sites wouldn’t have this feature, but you want it to come right after something interesting that will hook your readers. It could be a shocking line of dialogue, some sort of action occurring, anything really!
Example: “Can I get a hot three guys?” yes this was the line before the read more in my most popular fic l o l
Beginning
Try to start your fic with something interesting. Yes, this is much harder than it sounds. The beginning is what I personally find the most difficult to write, so I often write it after everything else and just use what seems fitting.
Experiment with things:
try starting in the middle or end of your plot and write the beginning as a flashback or story being told
open with an action-filled scene that immediately immerses the reader
out-of-context dialogue is a good way to engage the reader in what’s happening
Middle
If the beginning is what attracts readers, the middle is what makes them stay. If you start with an explosive beginning, don’t let the middle die down too low to the point where readers start feeling like your fic will not be as good as anticipated.
Move the plot along and avoid adding unnecessary scenes or dialogue that will not help your plot or character development.
Beware of the direction you’re taking the plot.
I’ve read things where the description and opening focused on one main idea, but then the direction of the plot entirely changed and never mentioned that idea EVER AGAIN. It might make readers feel like they’ve been baited by the description and then let down (alternatively, what I’m emphasizing here again is: make sure your description is representative of your entire story).
Ending
This is… probably what will get you your notes. Or keep readers coming back. According to psychology, if the end of an experience is good, then it will improve the impression of the entire experience. So what I’m saying is, if you feel like your fic isn’t up to par, make the ending amazing. It will convince readers that what they’ve read is really good despite maybe not liking it as much at first.
Aaand there you have it. Wow that was a long post. I’ll add more things to it if I think of anything else, but I hope this helps!

Touring Tuesday
Oh hey folks! (This is Timothy, not Emily, I’m so sorry to disappoint everyone, it’s really hard to say goodbye to someone as incredible as she is)
Tumblr media
(Wow that gif was way larger than I intended it to be also I’m a nerd on like 46 different levels so get ready for nerdy gifs also I normally use really proper grammar but not in these parentheses wow this is freeing)
OK so here’s the deal, folks! We’ve got some business and then I’m getting to the actual dramaturgy! Here’s the breakdown I’m playing with for days of the week (these are subject to change as we cycle through shows): Miranda Monday - this will be something about In the Heights, whether that’s a good quote from rehearsal, something about Lin-Manuel Miranda (I’m sure you’ve never heard of him, he’s not that well-known), a fact about Washington Heights, or something else entirely! Touring Tuesday - something relating to the National Players Tour 69 or touring theatre in general  Wise Words Wednesday - why mess with a classic? This will be a quote from someone relating to the shows we’re working on (so right now, Alice in Wonderland, Othello, and The Great Gatsby with NP and In the Heights). Throwback Thursday - another classic. This might be a throwback to the original play or production, it might be a throwback to Olney Theatre Center history, it might be a throwback to the breakfast I ate half an hour ago, you’ll just have to wait and see! Fun Fact Friday - a fun fact about a show we’re working on. (For instance, did you know that Robin de Jesús was the original Sonny in In the Heights on Broadway? Probably. But did you know that Sonny was originally a completely different character? Yeah! He was Nina’s brother and in the closet and in love with Benny! The drama!) Spotlight Saturday - a spotlight on one (or several) of our spectacular actors and/or production team! I’ll probably have to do a few to make sure I get all the Players and also start hitting my In the Heights folks too! Summation Sunday - I’ll post a brief recap of all the things I’ve covered in a week. Hopefully with more fun gifs.
OK. Now the dramaturgy!
Tumblr media
Touring Tuesday! Our National Players are hard at work rehearsing three shows in repertory, which they will perform here at OTC in September and take on tour in October (I imagine Emily already told you all this but I’m doing a recap so we’re all on the same page I’m new here give me a break people)! These shows are Alice in Wonderland, Othello, and The Great Gatsby, all three of which have a person’s name in the title, which I think is interesting. No, that isn’t the dramaturgy, this is just an introduction. SO. As Emily posted a few weeks ago, Salvador Dalí illustrated a set of Alice in Wonderland books, which have recently made news because they were just sold at an estate sale in California for $10,000 (why, yes, that’s more than I make in a year, why do you ask?). Also for sale at that same estate sale were a first edition Peter and Wendy, signed Maya Angelou books, movie posters, original Gibson guitars, and a vintage 1920s Pabst Blue Ribbon boxer, according to this article from FOX40. (Also linked here is the original blog post in which Emily shows you some of the images themselves, as well as some from other depictions of Alice and her wonderful adventures) But Alice has gotten a lot of love (and what’s not to love, am I right?), so I’m going to spend some time talking about Othello! Well, more specifically, I’m going to spend some time talking about Iago, our favorite love-to-hate villain, the original Mean Girl.
Tumblr media
(OK I know that’s the wrong play but regardless)
SO. Iago is often recognized as one of the greatest villains of all time (I should know. When I was a child, I used to like the Disney villains way more than the princes or princesses, to the point where I had the full Disney Villain pin collection from my one trip to Disney World). In an interesting parallel to our tragic hero, Iago’s actions are spurned by jealousy after Othello passed him for a promotion: he even tells Roderigo in the opening scene, “I follow [Othello] to serve my turn upon him.” His entire goal is revenge; yet he does not enact the revenge out himself. Instead, he moves Othello to action, letting Othello believe Desdemona unfaithful, which leads to Othello killing her later and thus finalizing his tragic end (wow, that is a twisted plot if ever I saw one. But I guess Shakespeare can make it work). In an ironic and rather sadistic turn, Iago “warns” Othello of this in Act III: “O beware, my lord, of jealousy/ It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock/ The meat it feeds on.” The play is littered with moments like this; for instance, after he tells Roderigo of his plot, he immediately tells Othello that Roderigo talked behind his back.
Tumblr media
Iago has, in fact, inspired an entire generation of villains; his lineage can be traced to Scar from The Lion King (is anyone shocked I went to Disney first? You shouldn’t be, it’s gonna happen a lot), Walter White from Breaking Bad, Tony Soprano from The Sopranos, and even to a President we all know and love.
(No, not him, I’m not letting this blog get political)
Tumblr media
Why, yes, Francis Underwood from House of Cards is a villain in the same vein as Iago. His murderous climb to power is equal parts Iago, Richard III, and Macbeth, paralleled even in breaking the fourth wall with his soliloquies. His hands, from his first entrance in the show, are constantly dirty – one could say bloody – and yet audiences can’t seem to turn away from him. We love to hate the bad boys, after all.
That’s all for today, folks! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading! Everyone should make it a point to come see the National Players, either at OTC or on tour, and see Iago be a villainous monster (and also the rest of the play, but who cares about the heroes, right?)!

The GMOs Scandal Exposed
Never trust the fox to guard the hen house. This is ancient country wisdom—it’s true—yet when it comes to your health, it’s largely ignored. What do I mean? Monsanto is the largest distributor of two things: 1. Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) Seeds 2. Roundup GMOs are designed to withstand the toxic chemicals in Roundup—which kills every non-GMO plant it touches. And to survive toxic levels of pesticides. And while it survives toxic doses of Roundup and pesticides—it also absorbs Roundup and pesticides… Deep within the plant… where they cannot be washed off.
Poison #1
According to Monsanto—a mega-corporation that makes $2B per year selling Roundup—it is completely safe for humans to eat these plants… And they’ve found a very sly ways of covering up the truth—that Roundup is NOT safe for humans and NOT safe in our foods. Let me show you just one case of what I mean… Glyphosates are the “active ingredient” in Roundup. After losing a $289M lawsuit for giving a farmer cancer, a Monsanto Vice President made the following statement:
“Today’s decision does not change the fact that more than 800 scientific studies and reviews – and conclusions by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. National Institutes of Health and regulatory authorities around the world – support the fact that glyphosate does not cause cancer, and did not cause Mr. Johnson’s cancer.” Scott Partridge, Vice President, Monsanto You don’t get to be a VP at a $2B corporation without knowing how to parrot the company talking points. But it is a very clever play on words… See, there are a couple of problems with those “800 scientific studies and reviews”… First—who ran those experiments? You guessed it! In most cases Monsanto ran the studies… Monsanto paid the scientists… And Monsanto made a killing off the results. That’s the fox guarding the hen house. The other problem? They only tested PART of the Roundup formula! Glyphosates. Meaning: They left out all of the other ingredients in Roundup. That’s why VP Scott didn’t say “Roundup does not cause cancer” instead he says, “glyphosates do not cause cancer.” And while many researchers (who were NOT paid by Monsanto) reached the conclusion that glyphosates are very dangerous…
We’ll have to leave that alone for now because the point of the story is to show how deceptive these people are when they speak. Glyphosates are NOT the only ingredient in Roundup. Glyphosates are not sprayed on our food—Roundup is sprayed on our food… And you can’t separate the glyphosates from the other chemicals once they’re in our food… Saying “glyphosates” are safe is a lot like saying fast food burgers are good for you because protein is good for you… But protein ain’t the only ingredient in a fast food burger! (forgive the bad grammar please!) And again, glyphosates aren’t the only ingredient in Roundup. To understand the danger, we need to look back at the roots of where Roundup came from—all the way back to the Vietnam War. And Agent Orange. Agent Orange was a toxic chemical “defoliant” in the Vietnam war… It’s best known today for giving Vietnamese families and our brave service men and women cancer. Monsanto provided it—the same Monsanto that provides us with GMO seeds today… and the wildly popular “weed killer” Roundup. Both of which are in well over 75% of our food. What they don’t tell you is that the exact same chemical that was in Agent Orange—a toxic chemical called 2,4-D… Is STILL being used today…
In fact, it’s one of the primary “weed killing agents” in Roundup—and we spray 300 MILLION pounds of it on our food every year.
Agent Orange contained two active ingredients—one of which was 2,4-D… They somehow still manage to get away with claiming it’s “safe” because they removed the OTHER ingredient… Apparently by itself—they say—2,4-D is safe and it’s only when you combine it with another active ingredient that it becomes dangerous. Yet all of their Roundup testing is done by isolating the active ingredient— glyphosates—from 2,4-D and claiming it is “safe.” But when they spray it on our food supply—they don’t spray glyphosates— they spray a blend of glyphosates and 2,4-D along with a lot of other undisclosed ingredients. Do you see what they’re doing? They’re using double-speak to trick the public into feeling safe… And if you look around, it’s working. The best estimates reveal that over 75% of our food is full of this toxic chemical cocktail. And the EPA allows this to happen… claiming it’s safe right along with their good buddies at Monsanto. In fact, the EPA and Monsanto get along with each other so well that the same people who work for Monsanto move on to high-ranking jobs in the EPA. And if they get tired of “public service” they go right back to work for Monsanto. Nothing to see here… Let’s just move on. A group of independent scientists reached a very different conclusion from the one Monsanto and the EPA reached through their collusion.
Their results were published in a report with a title that says it all:
“Glyphosate-Based Herbicides are Toxic and Endocrine
Disruptor in Human Cell Lines”
Their experiments proved that levels the EPA says are safe… Are NOT safe. And they pointed out one of the clever ways that Monsanto and the EPA have gotten away with their lies: By testing the ingredients individually—instead of testing them the way they are applied to our food supply. These scientists exposed human liver cells to the exact same chemical cocktails that are sprayed on our foods… This is the scientifically accepted “gold standard” for quickly discovering the effects of a chemical on the human body… Their experiment proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the chemical herbicides sprayed on our foods do three things: 1. Destroy & Mutate Human DNA & RNA 2. Drive estrogen levels out of natural balance 3. Push male androgen levels out of balance Is it any wonder then that as Roundup use ramped up, we’ve seen cancer, chronic disease and hormone imbalances rise at the same rate? These independent researchers concluded that we MUST re-evaluate the conclusions reached through the collusion between Big Food and Big Government.
Poison #2+
GMOs are also engineered to survive toxic levels of pesticides.
According to the NIH, the potential health effects of pesticides on humans include cancer and damage to the nervous, endocrine, and reproductive systems. In other words—they do more of the same things Roundup and other herbicides do… And the damaging effects of both are amplified by their combined use on our food. Plus, it doesn’t really take a scientist to understand that poison designed to kill one type of living creature will probably kill other types of living creatures as well. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t want pesticides and herbicides in my lunch—and I don’t want them in my kids’ lunches. But whether we want them or not—they’re there. Sadly, we the people have allowed this practice to go on for decades without realizing it… All because we trusted mega-corporations working with un-elected government officials to protect our children… BUT: We can no longer afford to let this go unchallenged. Someone has to stand up for the next generation and say: “Enough is enough.” We cannot allow levels of known poisons to rise higher and higher in our children’s food… We have to fight this—all of us… together… including you. That’s why we push so hard to get the truth about GMOs to as many people as possible through the GMOs Revealed docu-series… And why we’re re-opening the series to the public for free (registration opens up tonight).
This is not a small thing—this is a fight for the lives of the most innocent… the children we are called to protect. But what can YOU do? Simple. Please, if you are at all willing to help—share the GMOs Revealed series with someone today by sending them to GMOsRevealed.com. Now let’s dive into the 7 worst GMO foods that are messing up your hormones, destroying your health—and making you fat.
The 7 Worst GMO Foods Messing Up Your Hormones, Destroying Your Health and Making You Fatter
GMO #1: Corn
As much as 90% of the corn in the US is GMO corn. One type in particular is “bt corn” which is mutated to act as a pesticide so that when insects eat it, “bt corn” explodes in their stomach and kills them. Remember it’s not just corn you need to watch out for—you also need to watch out for corn products like high fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin, corn starch, dextrose, fructose, citric acid, lactic acid, and corn oil. Also beware of animals fed genetically modified corn because the end products—burgers, bacon, eggs, cheese, milk and other animal products— will contain GMO toxins.
GMO #2: Soy
Like corn, almost all of the soy grown in the US is GMO soy (90%+). Over 96.7 million pounds of glyphosates are sprayed on soybeans each year. And because soy is almost as common in our diet as corn—you’ll find it lurking everywhere.
Watch out for tofu, veggie burgers, soy flour, textured vegetable protein, lecithin, soy sauce, soy protein isolate, mono and di-glycerides, teriyaki, MSG, and soybean oil. Soy can also frequently be found hiding in guar gum, vegetable starch, thickener, mixed tocopherols, and natural flavoring. One study of GMO soy reported recorded what happened to hamsters fed GMO soy for three generations over a two-year period… The study reported: Those on the GM diet, and especially the group on the maximum GM soy diet, showed devastating results. By the third generation, most GM soy-fed hamsters lost the ability to have babies. They also suffered slower growth, and a high mortality rate among the pups. And if this isn’t shocking enough, some in the third generation even had hair growing inside their mouths… Animals also eat soy in their feed along with GMO corn—so beware of animal products as well!
GMO #3: Canola Oil
GMO Rapeseed is the source of canola oil—and it has been falsely labelled as a healthy oil by many. But there is little about canola oil that is good for you. The toxic rapeseed plant was changed through a mutagenic process using radiation. To pull it out of the plant it must be chemically removed from the seeds, then deodorized and altered, in order to be utilized in foods. It is among the most chemically altered foods in our diets. And when you ingest the oil, you’re eating a highly concentrated form of this GMO plant.
The cheaply used oil is found in so many foods it’s hard to avoid… but you should read labels and avoid anything with canola oil!
GMO #4: Sugar Beets
Sugar is bad for you already—genetically modifying it and spraying it with toxins doesn’t make it healthier. Most white sugar comes from sugar beets, and 95% of them are GMO. This genetically modified sugar hit the market in the U.S. in 2009. If you’re buying packaged foods and trying to avoid sugar, good luck. It’s in everything from pasta sauce to chips and fruit juices.
GMO #5: Aspartame
Aspartame is made with genetically modified bacteria. It is in more than 6,000 products including gum, baked goods, dessert mixes, yogurts, and sweeteners, and it’s also found in some pharmaceutical drugs and vitamins! Aspartame accounts for as much as 75 percent of adverse reactions to food additives according to some reports. Even seizures and deaths have been blamed on aspartame. Don’t eat it.
GMO #6: Zucchini & Yellow Squash
Two recent victims of GMO madness are zucchini and yellow squash. At least they aren’t commonly hidden in the ingredient list of other food products. If you like squash check out a farmer’s market that doesn’t sell GMO squash or grow your own using non-modified seed.
GMO #7: Papaya
This last one may come as a surprise… But GMO papayas have been grown in Hawaii since 1999. In fact, most of the Hawaiian grown papayas are GMO. Even if you rarely buy fresh papaya, keep an out for papaya enzymes in your cosmetics… Papaya extract is a popular ingredient in lotions, creams, shampoo, conditioner, and other beauty products. And anything you put on your skin immediately enters your blood stream. The links between GMOs and chronic disease, hormone imbalances and obesity are becoming more and more clear by the day. I hope you enjoyed this free report! To learn the truth about GMOs, how to avoid them and rid your body of the toxic effects they cause—directly from the brave scientists fighting Big Food for the safety of humanity… Be sure to catch every episode of the free, 9-part docu-series at:

The Tall Woman
It was my first time buying an used phone. I had bought used videogames, books, movies, but never something so prone to be an half-scam, or possibly a full-fledged one, as a mobile phone can be. Nevertheless, between the impulse of replacing my forever dormant old phone and the annoyance of shelling out another 300 bucks on Amazon, I fed an ever smirking Franklin to a red star John Doe on eBay. The Huawei, a Vision model, seemed to have travelled all the way from China in search of its new owner, judging by the unintelligible ideograms stamped on the worn package the courier delivered at my door ten days after my purchase. Unsurprisingly, the mobile had Chinese as default language, and the holy war to impose the Verb of Merriam-Webster upon the faithless, communist circuits took a good fifteen minutes of trial and error. Once set up, I sat down to play with my new hi-tech knick-knack that generously provided one game and one e-book. The little thing also paraded some kind of live newsfeed, albeit it appeared to have jammed some months before. Cheap comes with a price, I guess. While I was toying with the e-book reader app, I found out there was a .pdf document in addition to that old classic volume I would never have read. I tapped on it and to my annoyance, the system crashed and rebooted itself. Soon after the red Huawei logo stopped pivoting on the screen, I was welcomed by a pop up saying “Si deus unus est, quae esse beata solitudo queat?” . Praying that the phone didn’t switch to Latin by its own will, I tapped the annoying warning away. The system was still, thankfully, in English, but the once vibrant wallpaper had been replaced by a homogeneous blue slate, a lazy background for the bright yellow letters that had replaced the mellow white fonts. At this point I was quite sure I had been scammed, the phone being a nest of viruses written by some bored, bookish Cardinal recluse in his Roman solitude. The only way to prove my theory was to repeat the process that lead to the fuck up, and that I did: through the e-book reader app and towards the .pdf I went. You can understand my surprise when the phone didn’t reboot, but the file opened to reveal what looked like a numbered list of sorts. The document was redacted in Chinese, without empty lines between the bullet points, and I couldn’t understand any of it until I sent a peer of mine screenshots of that exotic tangle. Although he complained about the bad grammar plaguing the document, I had an almost totally reliable translation in my hand the next day. Here’s the list, as strange as it sounds.
 10. Avoid the empty places
6. Be aware of empty spaces
3. Leave when your drink turns sour, no matter the hospitality
22. Red is the colour of wine, black is the colour of wine, white is the colour of wine
23. A full glass is always better than an half empty one
7. Angles don’t meddle with curves
8. Surfaces can be made of curves
52. Beware the tall woman
18. Stasis lies beyond good and evil
12. Beware of open windows
13. Don’t heed Eastern ravens
40. Cautious be who dreams of Heavens
Considering that the list didn’t seem to make any sense even after being ordered in the correct verse, I didn’t think much of that document sitting in my phone, until I started to see her.
She was standing by the door that led to the dim-lighted living room, pale and tall and bloated; sticky black hair falling unevenly over her slightly hunched shoulders.
The hulking woman didn’t say a word, following my tentative backward steps with her bovine stare.
I wasn’t terrified, I was transfixed: I couldn’t determine whether she was real or not, whether she was going to rip my face off or just vanish into thin air.
She did neither this nor that: she just stood and watched, until I turned a corner and broke eye-contact with her.
As the days passed, I soon realized there was no tangible way to get rid of this damp woman lurking in the corners of the first floor.
All attempts at conversation were miserably lost in those vacuous eyes that stared at me from the moment I entered the room she decided to dwell in.
Slowly, but steadily, her presence was made manifest by the salty smell of things long dead at sea and the low gurgling sound that preceded thick, black drops of a vile liquid tumbling down her bluish lips.
Clerics of the Book, masters of old witchcraft and curious New Age gimps came and went, unable to see my unwelcome guest: their rituals useless, their theories wrong.
I know, and I suppose I have always known deep down, that seeing beyond is one of the woes that pave the path of knowledge, yet like a kid who stumbles upon the wolf den, I was uninitiated, unprepared.
I never chose to walk a path other than normalcy yet the floor below hosts the bloated husk who beckons the sea.
And tonight, of all nights, the slow, queer gurgle echoes up the staircase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent source textbook for Human Resource Management
5.0 out of 5 stars Handle your HR issues with Executive Level Intel This text was required reading for a University level HR managerial class, but now I find out it is also one of the study text books for the state HR tests! That alone is a wonderful recommendation for this text. Each chapter outlines what it will cover, offers intelligent "thinking" questions after each chapter so you can practice what you have absorbed, & then pages of alternate subject matter resources. A must-have for every shelf of every HR administrator. Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality. Havent found any issues with it Good quality. Havent found any issues with it. Good product. Delivery worked to get here on time. Another book I got had markings throught. This one doesnt. Whoever had it before me took good care of it. I itend to do the same! Go to Amazon
3.0 out of 5 stars Great content, poor form This textbook has very good, up-to-date content that makes it an acceptable choice for using in any course on introductory principles of human resource management. It has a distracting weakness, however, and that is that its copy editing and proofreading were pretty poor. The book has a large number of writing errors in it. The errors are of pretty much every variety and category, including these:- Misspellings (e.g., repeatedly misspelling "develop" as "develope" in chapter 4)- Comma splices (chapter 2 has a nice one: "Audits frequently...to collect information, they may be performed by outside entitites...")- Noun-verb number mismatch (e.g., saying "it is [singular] provided" when the the antecedent noun is "efforts" [plural] in chapter 8)- Incorrect punctuation (e.g., "It is unrealistic: however: to expect..." in chapter 1)- Errant words in sentences (e.g., "HR practices that to maintains a high-quality, workforce" [Yes, you're also seeing an incorrect comma and noun-verb mismatch in this awful sentence in chapter 2])- And so on and so on.If you're trying to get your students to write better in addition to learning something about HRM, this textbook may actually hurt your cause because it does not model good writing in many instances. I guess the authors and Cengage laid down on this one. Beware! Go to Amazon
4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book especially for those applying for the HRMP text The authors are expert in HR and I am enjoying reading the book.If you are applying for the HRBP or HRMP you need this book as a reference. Go to Amazon
3.0 out of 5 stars Not in E-book form!!! The content of the book is good and the format is also good. My biggest issue is with the e-book version of this book. The print is very small. I have an ordinary Kindle and the book does not fill the space of this smaller Kindle. There is no way to increase the font. The only way to make it large enough to make reading comfortable is to hold it horizontally and zoom in. There was supposed to be some really cool features, like letting you know which are the important items to remember, but the book extras is not working. The only reason this rating was not lower is due to the content of the book. I definitely would not get this as an e-book. Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Overview One of my very first classes for my graduate HR Management degree plan used this book. It was a wonderful refresher of my undergraduate HR courses and has continued to be a great reference throughout ALL subsequent courses I've taken. It's a great overview and recommended for anyone who wants a good starting point without too much detail. Go to Amazon
2.0 out of 5 stars Great content and topic Required textbook for my course. Great content and topic, but riddled with spelling and grammar errors. Sometimes the errors are so bad it is difficult to tell what message is trying to be relayed. I'm sure there are better books out there. If you are considering this book for your course, please do your students a favor and find another. Go to Amazon
