Like i get why Ash was angry that Luke take everything from him, even if Luke was the most innocent in this situation and taking his anger at him was wrong. He whould blame his family and Natalia to not have realized that it was a replica (and replica was a knew thing, not really a secret.)

Yeah Asch's anger at Luke is understandable, but it does feel misdirected. I get why Asch would feel that way but that doesn't mean he was justified in hating the kid who literally had no input in any of this and is as much a victim as he is.

Chronologically, a 7 year old in a 17 year old body having to adjust to SO many things at once from:

-Existential Crisis after learning the fact he is a clone

-Learning about the outside world and how it functions, including socializing with variety of people.

-Luke definitely has nightmares about what he had done in Akezuriuth and the people lives he took while defending himself. Amongst other related issues including: existential crisis, ghosts, abandonment, etc.

-Heavy PTSD/Guilt leading to depression, and he is definitely suicidal with how quick he is to sacrifice himself because he is "inferior" since he's a "clone". He did almost die, and was dying towards the end of the game.

-Abandonment issues, because of how quick most of his friends including his best friend left him (for understandable but also still kind of shitty reasons) and move on without him temporarily. Not only that, but Van who he saw as more of a father figure than his own "biological" dad (Duke Fabre) also left him to die in Akezuriuth after using him to take Asch place. Of course, with the existential crisis issues, definitely has fears no one will accept him because he's "not real"

-Luke forcing himself to be emotionally/mentally mature to fit his physical-appearance age. Yes, the tragic events humbled him and he stopped being naive/spoiled, but he only lived for 7 years. There's alot of factors that did contribute to his intial attitude but he was mentally just a kid who felt alone and sheltered. And I do think it is possible, as some byproduct by the replica process, he would've at some point adjusted to better fit his mentality to his physical appearance.

-I do want to say Luke does need help because he feels like he shouldn't exist in the first place and moreso after Akezuriuth where he indirectly caused it's destruction (Van manipulated him). He was born to be a tool, to take Asch place where he was suppose to die. And strangely enough, despite knowing he is slowly dying, Luke seems to accept it like it was meant to be.

Because the abomination that is the “Live Action” Lion King (thanks, I hate it) is coming out I might as well keep up my tradition of proposing crack AUs that I actually never plan to write. SO with that in mind let’s construct and AU... but for hell of it we’re not doing Vespy. This is gonna be a tales of Abyss AU. 

Because one day god will punish me for naughty fanart that I drew when I was 12 of Helia from the Winx Club and it will likely be with Diabetes or Colon Cancer.

So with this is mind... The Lion King... Abyss Edition: So for this Lion King Luke is gonna be our Simba- but wait- he has an older twin Asch that despite being the eldest is not as loved by their father. Now obviously, Van is the Scar and he’s slowly been indoctrinate Asch to his side and telling him about his plan to take over and how one day he’ll be his heir as well and Asch is lured into the dark side. So the dad gets Mufasaed and Luke gets sent away by Asch more than Van as an attempt to protect him. 

Luke travels sadly till he finds an oasis where a meerkat named Jade and a warthog Peony live. Guy is a monkey who legit just thinks he should move because these guys are always making him climb trees for stuff. There is also a very cute burd boy Ion because you need best boy. Luke gets raised and taken care of by these guys till Tear comes rolling in being all ‘U. Idiot. Come. With. ME.”

But Luke doesn’t want to both cuz guilt and because it’s long-haired Luke. But, Tear tells everyone else and they decide that yeah Luke has to go back especially because Asch is actually in trouble and while Natalia is keeping him safe that’s not going to last because Van and his generals have ruined everything and he plans on killing Asch to make sure no loose threads remain because he’s started acting a bit betrayer-like. Ya know how puberty be.

They meet up with Anise and Natalia. They fight the god generals and Legretta is actually a cheeta. Dist is an overzealous aardvark or something of the sort. Anyway they go up against Van two on one with all the drama. Van falls and dies but Asch is fatally wounded and dies dramatically in front of everyone. Then humans appear and it’s the cast but human and they capture the cast and throw them in a zoo and suddenly it’s a cross between Madagascar and Logan’s Run for some reason and Asch is completely fine

Enter the amazing Guy!  [ Destiny Star ] flavored, that is. (And a bonus Luke)

So it’s kinda hard to talk about how this version of Guy differs from canon without discussing (or at least hinting at) some major spoilers. I’ll go over the surface level stuff first, but the things alluding to canon spoilers will go under a ‘read more’. 

So! Guy does not work for the Fabres. In fact, he does not live in Kimlasca. He lives in Malkuth, along with his family. He met Luke, Natalia, and Asch at a fairly young age when he was tagging along with his family (possibly just Mary) for political things. In a decidedly Asbel-esque fashion, he somehow managed to run into the Kimlascan princess and her cousins, and they were fairly fast friends. 

The next time Jade visited for a checkup, Luke asked about Guy since he knew Jade also lived in Malkuth, so clearly (in the eyes of a seven-ish year old boy), Jade must know a lot about all the people in Malkuth. 

The next time they meet is at a wedding (Cecille and Frings), a couple years later.  Guy’s avid interest in technology has long since surfaced, and Luke feels brave enough to share a secret (”Can you keep a secret, Guy?”) and opens up one of the maintenance panels on his arm.  Guy thinks it’s the coolest shit ever, and Luke decides Guy is definitely still an all-right dude, and they stay in touch after that (do you still call it ‘pen pals’ when there are no pens involved, only texting?).  In any case, they remain very close friends thereafter, and Guy finds excuses to visit Kimlasca every chance he gets.

Guy has a very active interest in machines and tech, and there is always some project or another going on in his garage, be it the loving restoration of a classic vehicle, a homebrew personal aircraft, or the gradual assembly of some ancient piece of antiquated machinery.  

Now for the decidedly spoiler-filled content:

So in Destiny Star, Hod never fell. The colony drop was threatened but averted at the last minute.  Van un/fortunately lost his life in that incident. While the Score still has a presence in some form for the people of Auldrant in this setting, the survival of Hod and further inconsistencies made it much easier to convince people that it was not absolute at a much earlier point in the story.  Tensions between Malkuth and Kimlasca are much lower as a result. 

Van dying as a teen meant that Tear grew up without ever knowing him.  The Fende family is still very close to Gardios, however, and Van had still been a dear friend to Guy.  What eventually happens is that Guy inadvertently ends up acting sort of like a surrogate older brother figure for Tear. 

Guy does not end up with a phobia of women because the tragedy of Hod was largely averted. Mary is alive, and Guy absolutely looks up to her.  

Thankfully, as Gailardia Galan Gardios is a recognized noble and relations with Kimlasca are good, Luke’s dad can’t bitch at him for wanting to be friends with Guy, at least!

Also Asch and Luke’s dad is a horrible man. He neglected his own son and removed himself from his own sons life. Even if your child is going to die that isn’t right. The pope from TOS locked his own daughter and away and sent her to her possible death because she was a half elf. King Ingobert wasn’t a horrible horrible dad but trying to kill his daughter wasn’t a good thing either

There’s a difference between abusive and being a failure, and that’s what I was trying to capture about Von Fabre the Elder. In normal circumstances, he would probably have been an adequate father, but these weren’t normal circumstances, and he failed to rise to the occasion.

Tales of Games are "sunshine filled" and don’t have dark or MEMORABLE??? Characters??? BITCH WHERE?????????????

I just watched an IGN (whatever that is) review of Takes of Berseria and while im like super happy to hear that everyone likes it..........................DONT TRY TO PUT OTHER GAMES DOWN WHILE YOU TALK ABOUT HOW GOOD THIS ONE IS?????/

anyways it said all the other tales of games were too “sunshine filled” (they are kinda sunshine filled but I wouldnt go so far as to say they were all happiness and rainbows) and you could never remember the characters names because they arent interesting or memorable...YEAH IF YOU HAVE THE BRAIN THE SIZE OF A PEA AND THE TASTE TO MATCH

Luke accidentally kills an entire city and it traumatized forever??? he starts out as the shittiest person and then becomes a hero????? He has to question his whole identity, Asch has to too, they go through so much crisis? (that music box version of the song “Mirrors” will forever make me cry) Guy’s entire family is killed in front of him including all his household maids who were trying to protect him and he get’s buried under their bodies and thats how he survives because the soldiers thought he was just another dead person, how long do you think a small child would have been stuck under there, and he has such severe ptsd?? OMG GUY IM SORRY TT~TT

Also Yuri Lowell was a pretty dark character, not an anit-hero but not really "sunshine filled" I mean he drowned a guy in sand, murdered a guy and threw his body into a river so it's couldn't be found. And I guess he Kind Of regrets what he did but only because his friends were like “murder is bad” but he doesn’t actually like agree with them?? He still thinks that he has to work outside the law to help people? 

Anyone who thinks that the Tales of Symphonia characters were “unmemorable” can honestly........have their own opinion because everyone is allowed to have their own opinion BUT THEY”RE WRONG AND I HATE THEM. who could forget Kratos my shitty dad character??? Or ZELOS??? (I know why I could never forget Zelos and thats bc I accidentally got him killed my frist time through because im an awful fuck up and made the WISE decision not to use a walk through FFFF) fucking REGAL? and his whole sad arc with Presea and her sister omgg I wanna cry thinking about it. I could go on forever

I will admit that I forgot most of the names for the Tales of Legendia characters but in my defense I remember all their nicknames (CC, Bubbles, Red, Teach, etc) and they used them a lot so like its not my fault they never used their real names xDDD (I do remember some names Chloe, Senel, Shirley, Moses, Jay, Grune, oooo more than I thought I would remember) DO NOT get me started on teach’s story with his wife and his daughter and the sad flowers that turn to stone okay im already crying T~T

though it is super easy to please me....really the only Tales of Game I didn't absolutely LOVE (still enjoyed it a TON) was Zesteria and that's just because so much little stuff was going on that I almost completely lost sight of the big stuff until it hit me in the face and I just couldn't remember why I should care about it. Like when a certain wind spirit died...I feel like we didn't get enough character interaction with him before his death for me to actually care a lot... I mean I was sad but not a ton....he didn’t even get an animated scene? i just got nothing from this scene? The best part is the very last part after the ending credits when Mikleo falls and gets caught by someone who is probably just the new shepard BUT IT MIGHT BE SOREY and no lie im pretty sure sorey’s real love interest is Mikleo bc if that doesnt seem gay then idk what is lmao

There’s also Xillia, Xillia 2, Graces, etc those are all super good too but not my top choices (speaking of choices or the lack thereof FUCK Xillia 2′s ending man NOT FAIR NOT FAIR AT ALL BRO why you gotta hurt me like this, make me hurt myself like this??? there is no choice it’s just “death and horrible” vs “horrible and death”)

I agree that this game (tales of berseria) looks SO great but, since I haven't played it yet, we'll see if it's really "the best" tales of game to date...It'll be hard to beat my love for Tales of The Abyss, Symphonia, Vesperia, Legendia, etc.....

thought it;s already doing a great job because I LOVE the main crew they look awesome!!! The MC is an awesome lady?? and I’m told the tale is really “dark” I mean obviously though have you seen the MC’s clothes?
