there are a handful of fic topics that ime rarely get kudos or comments but DO get views & i think it’s because people don’t want their names linked to them. ime it’s usually whump & fetish content but the former is way more prone to this. as an author i think it’s worth being aware of this — like i’ve been writing fic for literally twenty years across a billion different platforms with different engagement styles than ao3 so i an 100000% sure this sort of thing is well-loved and well-read but you’re rarely going to get actual confirmation of that.
#ED fic does not get comments or kudos#like even the sh chapters on stay get way less comments than the other ones#its more or less universal#ao3 is a weird platform bc their stats look really robust but they are not#bc they dont track unique vs aggregate views which is the only metric thats not susceptible to this sort of thing#& also its really mainstream so people are unwilling to reveal themselves#whereas in smaller forums people just care less#bc the whole thing is a devils sacrament#also ao3 is more or less the only platform that ever attracts actual journalists#its really rare but i think the fact that its even a possibility does change the way people interact with it
