My insane Wings of Fire AU Species Masterlist, of an AU that I made in a rp four years ago! (with very bad traditional drawings i did that long ago) @castiels-destiny

Starting off with the Continent: Pontalo! I kinda just… replaced two As in Pantala with Os (listen… it was four years ago)

I just made a terrible ass map just now but it looks like a dragon curled up, the head is facing downwards towards Pyrrhia and Pantala

There are 7 main tribes that live there, the FireWings (orange), SunWings(bright yellow), MoonWings (purple), LightWings (sandy yellow thats getting overtaken by red), LightningWings (cyan), HydroWings (dark blue), BloodWings (red), who wiped out the ShapeWings and stole their land. Also, they all eat meat, or in the case of BloodWings, blood.

Also, they can all breathe fire except for HydroWings, ShapeWings (venom), and LightWings, I kinda forgot to mention that before

They can have both Kings and Queens which rule equally, unlike in the original series which has predominantly Queens.

The head is where the Kingdom of Fire resides, the FireWings live there.

FireWings have fire-proof scales, backs on fire, and intense fire breath. The rare attribute is blue fire. They are aligned to the Fire Tribe and are carnivores. Their colors typically range from red, orange, or yellow (fiery) and have fiery eyes.

Their descendants are the MudWings and SkyWings in the original series.

The second drawing is their Queen (i forgot her name) with her sick daughter i think

Near the wings of the dragon continent, the top part resides the LightWings. (full information here) They are lightweight dragons with feathered wings instead of leathery, bat wings, like a bird. They also have feathery scales on their backs. They are aligned to the Light Tribe and have light powers, and are seen as mostly healers and good-willed. However, they have been nearly wiped out by the BloodWings, and most of the rest of them have fled the continent. They are omnivores.

They can range from white, light yellow, light blue, yellow, and other pastel colors, which are uncommon, and have yellow or blue eyes. Their feathers on their backs and behind their legs can be all kinds of colors, though.

Updated LightWing Base

The LightningWings (full and updated info here) live in the bottom part of the wing, in the Kingdom of Lightning. They have long nose horns like a lightning rod, and manipulate/summon electricity/lightning. They can charge their power in lightning storms and areas with lots of electricity. They have large backspikes too, and are carnivores.

They are a variety of colors, blue, dark blue, grayish blue, dark/grayish purplish blue, etc. Think storm clouds. Their spikes are white with yellow highlights though. They can have blue or yellow eyes.

Their descendants are also the SkyWings.

I actually have recent drawings of LightningWings and ShapeWings, in 2022 or 2023. This is Switch and Storm! They were mates.

Updated LightningWing base:

ShapeWings (full information here) used to live in the area the Bloodwings now reside, the part of the body connected to the arm and wing. They are shapeshifters and can change forms on whatever they’ve seen, and can also camouflage and change their scale colors, like their descendants, the RainWings. They come in a variety of colors, eye colors, and spots, and are omnivores. They eat a variety of fruits but can eat meat. They are Light Tribe aligned.

Their queen, Paradox, escaped the Great ShapeWing Genocide and was the last surviving member of their species, and she vows to one day rebuild her kingdom, and hated the BloodWings for what they’ve done. However, a young BloodWing dragon, Vampire Bat or, just Bat, came to her school, and she saw that not all of them were bad.

They have now repopulated in wherever the place Paradox went to (we never named what the land was that the roleplay took place in), and will not return to Pontalo.

They are the common ancestor of the Leaf and RainWings.

Updated ShapeWing design:

SunWings are kinda related to LightWings. They have frills like frilled-neck lizards that can absorb sunlight and charge their power. They live in the Kingdom of Sun. They have a very spiky tail, like a sun. They are Light/Fire Tribe aligned. They vary from golden yellow, yellow, orange, etc. They are carnivores.

SandWings are descendants of them, also ShapeWings are related as they absorb energy from the sun too, like their descendants, RainWings and LeafWings.

I don’t have any good drawings of them.

MoonWings (full information here, the following is a summary) are the opposite of SunWings, and they have scales that can light up, like SeaWing scales. They are nocturnal, and very much ancestors of NightWings. They also have star-like dots/scales in their wings that make them look like the night sky, like NightWings. They are in the Moon Kingdom and are Shadow Tribe aligned. However, they are not necessarily evil. They range from any dark color, black, greenish/purpleish/blueish black, etc. They can have any eye color and are carnivorous.

Also they get powers when under full moons like the NightWings, one full moon either prophecy or mind-reading, two for both, three for enhanced

SeaWings are sort of descended from them as well, and they’re distantly related to the HydroWings.

Updated MoonWing Base

BloodWings (full information here + SwordWings info) are settler dragons from another land and conquered the ShapeWings and LightWings. They are like vampires, they can turn into bats, they suck blood, have sharp, long fangs, large ears, and burn in the sun. They have a lot of spikes, a spike on their chest area (which i didnt draw, whoops), and shredder spikes on their forelegs. They range from violent dark red shades and have red eyes. They can hear very well, use dark powers, and can also fight hand-to-hand combat, because of their spikes. They are Shadow Tribe aligned.

Subspecies:

SwordWings (one of my favorites <3 they dont live on Pontalo though)

SwordWings were BloodWings that defected and vowed to stop their evil crimes, and eventually evolved into a seperate species. However, they almost got wiped out by the BloodWings when finally discovered, and the two remaining members known are the King’s children, Knight and Dauntless, brother and sister. They have armor and use weapons, but they still have BloodWing qualities. They grew out of using dark magic (some can sometimes use it) and instead rely on swords or their claws/spikes. Their colors are faded dark red, and have evolved out of their red eyes. They are carnivores and they don’t depend on blood anymore. They are Light Tribe aligned.

The two live in the land Paradox is (i dont have a name for it. we never named it anything lol)

And lastly my beloved HydroWings!

Here is the full description

They are literally just SeaWings with bigger webbed spines running down from their head to their tail, on their legs, belly, and webbed spines that form like a fish tail, and water powers. HydroWings speak a more ancient version of Aquatic, and also have more bioluminescent scales than regular SeaWings. They have the patterns in their wings royal SeaWings got from them. They live underwater, can go deep underwater, and have gills, but can also live outside of water like SeaWings. However, they can’t stay on land for too long. They eat fish, whales, etc and are Water Tribe aligned.

They range from purple (rare), blue, green, and dark or light (rare) variants of those too. They have green, purple (rare), or blue eyes too.

Any other colors I didnt mention, just think of them as SeaWings, they can have the colors SeaWings have.

Most of them have fled Pontalo or are in hiding because of the threat of the BloodWings, and a lot have been killed.

Their names are usually after shark or dolphin species! Although Paradox’s mate Torrent does not follow this naming pattern, lol.

She found the hidden HydroWing palace Atlantis and found out she was a HydroWing and not just a weird SeaWing/ShapeWing hybrid.

Maaan, I just played myself, but there was a silver lining? An artist I've been waiting to get a commission from announced early this month that they were open for simple headshots. I really needed one made for my ArtFight profile since I'm pretty busy this month. They made it sound like they'd be finished in just a few weeks...

Silly me didn't check their Trello. There are almost 15 people ahead of me in the queue, and one or two are from LAST YEAR. And this person has also been doing mostly personal art this month, so I may not even get my commission for a few months....I want to kick myself right now. I should've checked their queue.

When I realized everything, it was too late to commission another artist, so I had a "fine, I'll do it myself" moment and let me tell you...I suddenly leveled up so much! So while I'm still frustrated at myself for not looking at their Trello first, I am getting a lot of compliments from folks about the header I created and I feel so confident right now. In a way, I'm grateful that I was forced to stretch my abilities, so now I can apply these new skills to AF attacks this year. :)

I may even get to the same level as the artist I commissioned by the time they finish my OC's headshot lol.

So who's this "Twilight Phantom"?

I play a strict game with myself when it comes to my main blorbo: 98% of what the FLPC does, in the exact order i do it, is canon.

This also applies to small things like their possessions/wardrobe, for example - they pretty much only have the in-game items I own in the account to wear. Finding out reasons to explain why they keep the things they own is part of the fun. (this game made them out to be a weirdo, naturally)

It's been lots of fun to see this clean slate (and i do mean clean - i knew nothing about the setting/lore, or who they were as a person, so. well. this guy didn't either) get shaped by RNG, the narrative, And my mechanical wiki-fueled optimization decisions.

another extra rule i made for myself as a treat was making them a sponge to compensate for their inherent emptiness. this means they incorporate something from each important NPC they get involved with. they are a singer because of Clara and her twin. they only own a lab & got interested in studying & research bc of Dr. Vaughan. they got a taste for exercise bc they accompanied Hephaesta's workouts for so long. and so on and so forth.

[last updated: never. this is my self-callout to write abt recent developments bc ohh boy evolution was an entire year's worth of timeline progression.]

The first thing you notice about them is the cowl lazily draped around their head and shoulders, swaying behind their back like a cape in the colours of sunrise-- or, perhaps most familiarly, the velvety twilight that the newest star every so often provides to London.  The second thing is the deep scars covering one side of their face, and the third thing would probably be the heavy eyebags under their sharp, dark eyes.

A relatively freshly-minted Silverer, H. Reisz spends more time in Parabola than London nowadays. Not that they had been in London for too long anyway, and it's not like anyone knows where they were before that either. The surface, yes, but it's a big world out there, right? They don't actually remember seeing the sun, or the sky, but H cannot deny the soft colours of twilight and sunrise have a special place in their heart. They recognise it without the memory of experiencing it, just like they recognised love in the depths of a certain Labyrinth. Hmm, two Labyrinths, actually. There was that one heiress too... and the Orphanage was inside one hell of a maze too... if they had a coin every time they found themself inside labyrinths, they'd... Uh, where were we? Well, anyway, being a new face, they had nothing to be known for so they simply gave out their surname instead. Or well, what they assumed to be their surname. "H. REISZ" were the letters sewn-in on a diminute corner of the tattered black veil that wrapped their head back when they woke up for the "first" time. They were surrounded by near-empty bottles of dried mouldy honey, absinthe, and who knows what else. Ah, the decadence... they couldn't even remember what honey could do at the time but they could recognise the stench of self-destruction right away, haha.  Alas, if things were so bad they got to that point-- maybe this explains why moving on was so easy. Maybe they had somehow lobotomized themself on purpose. Who knows? They sure don't. It was only now, a year or so after waking up, that an epithet has started to stick around-- specifically by their actions as a Silverer and the services they provided. From nightmare-slaying to fishing out vestigial memories (the irony of an amnesiac doing this is not lost on them) to guiding and safeguarding lost dreamers, their glimmering signature cowl and the way it flowed rather phantasmagorically in Parabola started to leave an impression. To many dreamers, seeing a hint of pastel twilight colors signaled safety. It signaled someone you could trust to get inside your head. :)

So this is my latest Tav, who I may also make into a DnD character down the line.

They go by Lymerel, she/they, they're some combination of elf and human, they're a gloomstalker ranger and a non-practising degenerate. They'd like to be a wizard, but they could never afford formal education, so they sometimes mess around with self-taught magic. Are those sparkles the effect of accidentally casting Faerie Fire on themself? Possibly, but you didn't see it, so it doesn't count.

I've technically only played them for a few hours but I've thought a lot about their characterisation and background and the choices they'd make and scenes with them and... It's more than I've done with any OC since I was 12, actually. I've indulged in giving them a bit of tragic backstory, I've been making them a playlist, I've even consciously put some self-inserty bits to help work through some thoughts I've been having.

All this to say I'll probably post an actual character sheet and some other sketches and thingies about them in the future and if anybody feels like giving me prompts or asking anything (either bg3 related or not) I'd really appreciate it!! It'll also be a good creative exercise I think.

Hiiii, um, if it's not too much trouble, can you explain artfight to me? I know the basic premise, it's a battle between two teams and other people can "attack" you by drawing your o/cs (you can retaliate back by drawing theirs), but what's it like being in art fight?

How late are you allowed to sign up? Would you say the userface is newbie friendly? I don't know if you would know (since your art is already really cute), but is art fight... like... better/worse depending on your skill? Would you recommend it for beginners?

Hi hi! It's no trouble at all!! First of all, the next few days will be a nightmare for the site in general, the traffic is really high so you will have issues doing pretty much anything but it will calm down during the next week.

The premise is you have all your ocs ref sheets uploaded on there, and anyone during this month of july can draw art of them and 'attack' you with it. Even if they are the same team (will just get less points) It's up to you drawing a revenge or not but it's a nice way of getting extra points and saying thanks for the art. Also! The interface is like medium level of friendly, mostly keep in mind if you don't know where somethign is, it's probably under user settings on one of the tabs. No deadline to sign up you got all month!! And it's totally begginer artist friendly don't worry about it, you decide the level of effort you put into your art when you submit an attack, it asks if you did lineart or sketch / if its shaded or not / if its headshot , bust or full body etc! Don't know how, but I finished the 100 head challenge. There are some awful monstruosities, but I learned a lot. I'll probably do it again in the future, it's a pretty nice exercise.

I finally made a sona! And this one has stuck! I love my lil shadow creature.

Made what is probably the watercolor piece I love the most. And one the pieces I like the most overall.

I got FlipaClip and had a lot fun making some little animations. Someone even used one of the lil gifs! That made me pretty happy

I personalized a little notebook to carry around, and it was the best desition of my life. I love that thing. And it's amazing that I don't have to search for the pen, it's all together!

The coin pouch is also one of the best things I've made. The strings are a bit long and the embroidery is a bit loose, I'll fix those on the next one I make (looking at you, squid pouch)

The anual redraw of Coral and Sebastian couldn't be missing. The poor Sebastian finally got his (I hope) final design. I was in love with how it looks, but looking it now... What hapened to their faces?

Decided to redraw some old drawings I had on Ibis. The progress I've made since I drew the originals.

Mermay, of course! Somehow they turned into oficial ocs. I love the stupid trio.

Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!! It's almost July and I haven't updated my ArtFight references! "Chibi" versions it is. At least now a lot of them have colored full body references.

Painted a box! It's now buried under too many trinkets I have to clean up, but I still love how pretty it looks!

Started a new sketchbook and painted the cover. I love the mushroom lantern.

Made this year's Artfight gif, banner and artfighters. The silly gif brings me a smile every time I see it.

July

ArtFight! 42 attacks and 21 defenses. I have no idea how I managed to make so many. I did get burned out on the second half of the month tho. I absolutely love every single art I received, but this one with Coral and Sebastian has a special place.

What do you do when you are burned out? You make a new style, of course! I love the simple style that came out of that. Feels weird to see that is fairly recent, I feel like I've been using it for ages. It has evolved a bit since, those thin lines in the eyes look weird now.

August

Nuclear Waste was born. And people went crazy. The silly boy loves and appreciates all the affection you've showered him!

Smaugust is a thing? Dragons! I still need so much prectice with them and animals in general.

I made a comic! I love it, it's so silly. I had a great time with it.

September

Pirate shirt! It fits a bit weird, but I think I can fix it. It took soooo long to hand sew it

I got a drawing tablet! Took me a couple of weeks to get used to, but it was worth it. I love using it.

To practice I made every single prompt of CuteGirltober. The only reason I was able to finish is that most of them were left as sketches. Should have learned from ArtFight, I can't draw every day, that's too much.

November

I made a font! It works really well, and it's so fun to type something and see it look like you handwrote it.

Got to write a bit too. I need to do that more.

I also worked on some proyects I've been wanting to do but haven't touched in a long while.

Including bookbinding a little notebook! I filled it with headshots of my ocs.

December

ArticFight prompts and a secret santa were mostly the reasons I drew. I love this one with Alex and Layla.

I also made some free adoptables. There might be some left when this is posted.

And we are done with the year!

1. Send me a DM about your idea. (Perhaps, at some point I’ll build a form to make it easy and clear, we’ll see). 

You can mention references if you want - It can be for an OC and you have pictures of their design, or there’s a style or posing that inspired you, either in my work or in a Renaissance painting or a movie or idk. If there’s a specific format you’d prefer you can also specify. :)

2. If I take the commission, I may ask for details. Depending on complexity I can send you a rough sketch to approve the intention.

It may happen that I can’t accept a commission. Whatever the reason, don’t feel offended it’s all ok ! You can probably find another artist that will be inspired by your concept :) I’m not here to judge your ideas, we’ll all benefit interacting with content that we feel comfortable around.

3. Payment is sent by Paypal. The pricing is determined according to elements (sketch, color, amount of characters, background, etc), although it can increase depending on the complexity. 

Payment in EUR is preferable for me. If needed, USD is also ok 👍 (I will convert currency to price fairly)

4. Now I get to do the commission ! It may take time considering I’m mostly drawing on my free time ; sometimes for health reasons I can’t draw as much, and other times I can achieve a lot. Thank you for your trust and patience ! 🙏☺️

Just a note about the meaning of pricing (bc it can be confusing !)

in France, as of January 1st 2023, gross minimum wage is €11,27/h. Besides, it took me all my life of drawing almost everyday and 4 years of art studies to get where I am now in my artistic progression and knowledge. I have also spent quite a bit for my equipment. So Ideally I’d manage to charge at least minimum wage for the time spent commissioning.

I think it's been a few weeks since I mentioned doing this, but here we finally are! Nothing super special or fancy, I just wanted to do something fun with the blog and interact with y'all some more - and give people a chance to promote their original characters!

I also don't have much to offer by way of prizes other than glory, but I will draw free art of the winner's OCs (examples of my art below the cut)

In addition to picking my favorite drawings, I'm also going to choose random winners! So if you feel like you're not an experienced artist or don't have time to do a detailed piece, don't worry, you can still win!

This is also my first time doing something like this and I have no idea how many people are going to enter, so we're going to have to play it by ear a little.

“Sun” is technically his surname, so when someone addresses him as such, he becomes very suspicious of the formality

Occupation: bounty hunter, wannabe con artist

Abilities: dysfunctional psychic

Ethnicity/Coding: Chinese-Vietnamese

Combination of East & Southeast Asian features – skin is on the darker side

Long salt & pepper hair (mostly salt) dark roots, wears it in a half bun or half ponytail, dark sideburns

He’s near-sighted as fuck and also very sensitive to sunlight, so you’ll almost never see him without a pair of round, shaded glasses that are honestly, too damn big for his face.

The reason he’s called Mantis is actually because he can read minds and get close enough to gut/rob/catch you

Sun Bai has two sides. His daytime self is very paranoid, whiny and callous. But at night he calms down. He’s more lighthearted and relaxed. He also becomes more reclusive at this time. He goes without his glasses because his eyes work better in the dark, but there can be no modern light or even firelight present whatsoever

Shippable? Yes, but not very emotionally available. He doesn’t spend the night. He doesn’t cuddle. He indulges with you and then he’s gone. Hint: the best time to ask him out is after the sun goes down.

Since Bai is always accidentally breaking his glasses on the job, he decided to hire his oculist full time. He pays her handsomely. Loves to treat her to dinner whenever he can.

Sun Bai doesn’t ever try to read her mind, but they seem to have a language of their own

Abilities – some healing, but she hasn’t taken the time to develop it. Mostly relies on it to make her patients comfortable if she has to go poking at their eyes.

Abilities – A black belt (Mestre) in Storm Capoeira (also known as Capoeira Tempestade) Think Last Airbender’s Princess Azula’s style of lightning-redirection/firebending mixed with Brazilian dance-fighting. If it sounds very cool to watch, believe me, it is.

She’s always wearing her hair in some kind of funky, playful style. Most of the time it’s two braided pigtails

Ethnicity/Coding: Afro-Latina

Height: 5’10

Though her skin is on the fairer side, her features lean Afro-centric, hair texture is a mixture of 3a, 3c, 3b. She wears it braided to keep it out of the way, but when she’s off the clock and going somewhere nice, she styles it into something that shows off her big and glam wave-curls

Solid, curvy, tall (She’s basically my fantasy version of Megan Thee Stallion ok?)

With that being said, good luck trying to kill her. She’s built like a mountain.

Shippable? Yes, but she takes her job very seriously, so that will always be a priority. With that being said, Rio is definitely the most emotionally available of the three.

~Ramble below contains me going off about Hara's whole ass backstory basically, I know some are just here for the OC art, also the Ramble includes a death mention or two sooooo ye cut off point~

Ya know? I'm not fully sure what to call Hara

Like, she's the midway point between Shadow and Eclipse, but only kinda?

She was created quite a bit after Shadow, Shadow was finished in 1954 and Harazuki was created in 2003, ya know? She's the sequel no one was expecting, well, sorta. With doubts of the planned invasion of Earth set for 05, Harazuki was made to replace Shadow in a way.

But once she was finished, she was mostly regarded as a failure, mostly due to her short stature (she's like a full foot shorter than Shadow) and her less than powerful Chaos based fighting, as a lot of the Chaos energy inside of her was being used up to power her unique Chaos Flight power (not showcased here, but basically she can manifest wings made of Chaos Energy (similarly to how Shadow's Chaos Spears are) and use them to fly). Black Doom believed in her a bit more than Black Death did (yes, they both worked on her, but Death did most of the work while Doom mostly oversaw the process) but ya know, two years after Hara was created, Doom died so... either way she was more considered in Death’s family anyway, both because of him doing most of the work on her and the fact that between her creation and the events of ShTH, Harazuki lived with Death’s grandmother Lillian (another oc of mineee ;p).

Either way, she was meant to be a new Shadow, but she was intentionally made a bit more alien like. Shadow had to be created to look almost perfectly Mobian because that's what Gerald demanded, but with Harazuki, there was more freedom, though Black Doom desired her to still mostly resembled Shadow, both as to make her a more welcoming, sibling-like presence if they were able to get Shadow back, and also cause Doom missed Shadow a good bit still :'). Hara notably does not have Shadow's nose, and her mouth """"fur"""" is very light while Shadow's is rather dark, but she has the hedgehog ears, and Shadow's eyes. She both does and doesn't look like she could be Shadow's younger sister, she more looks like a cousin. As far as actual relation goes, no one but Doom and Death know whether Doom's blood was used in Hara like it was for Shadow, and as I said earlier, most people see Hara as Death’s daughter rather than Doom's. Death refused to let Hara live with Doom, as to not place a "burden" (his words not mine) on the Dark Lord. As for Doom, he truly just wanted Shadow back, and then the idea of Doom taking Hara in was completely shut down when his wife Black Widow (again, another oc :3) fell pregnant.

But the events of ShTH aren't the end of Hara's story, far from it. Despite being basically shunned by him, Black Death forced Harazuki to come with him on his away mission as "assistance". Perhaps he started to see the good in her? Maybe then that she would become the new Shadow she was meant to be?

But those dreams of Hara's were never fulfilled, as the events of ShTH happened, and just like that, she lost so much. She lost the woman who took her in, she lost the one of her two creators that really seemed to love her. All she had left was one of her two best friends that she had made in those two years on the original Black Comet (maybe one day I'll talk about the one who died. They're more of a fan character than an oc just owned by me... haha), Black Death's nephew, Yuki. Yuki wasn't even supposed to be on the away mission, but he snuck in because he didn't trust Black Death with Hara alone (seeing a guy killing your mother in a blind rage right in front of you will do that to ya, ya know?). Hara, trusting herself with Yuki after him doing such a thing for her, stuck by him for a good couple of years.

But enough of the sad stuff for now, I'm actually about to cry.... haha (well maybe if I wasn't listening to "Hey There Delilah" while writing that part I'd not be-)

Anyway, right after getting the news that Shadow killed Black Doom and the majority of the Black Arms, Black Death quickly got planning to get revenge, and took the base idea of Hara and took out some things (mainly the Chaos Flight), expanded on other things, added an all new Monster Form, and long story short, Eclipse the Darkling was created. Eclipse looked full on alien, though that look includes having Hara's mouth/nose area structure and her tail (not showcased in the picture).

So, there's arguments to make for calling her a hedgehog, yes (mainly the ears), and you probably could call her a "hedgeling" or go through the effort to constantly write "Hedgehog/Darkling hybrid" but after writing all that and info dumping on y'all with minimal warning like Doom did to Shadow in the cutscene before Sky Troops, I think calling her "Harazuki the Darkling" works well

Or I could just use her full name Harazuki Chai/Harazuki Black-Chai

Spotlight: Rise of the Radiotrons

Here it is folks, the first fan canon spotlight, showcasing Rise of the Radiotrons created by sleeveev! You can find this over at @riseoftheradiotrons and also on AO3! This is a long post, fair warning.

Q) Give us a run down of your cont! What's it about, what's it called, what's it like?

the cont, despite being called Rise of the Radiotrons, revolves around five main groups of characters, and the mystery that accidentally intertwines all of them. a lot of false identities, undiscovered pasts, mystery that you need to read all the way through to really uncover. it also takes place during the attrition phase of the Autobot-Decepticon war, and Megatron and Optimus are... dead. but... weren't they made immortal by the Eternal Surge? where are they?

Q) What characters take the lead here? Any personal favorites?

characters that take the lead? hoo, boy, there's a lot. and be warned, this is OC-heavy. Wavecrash, Blackarachnia, Sparkplug, Pascal, and Ness make up the Earth detective team, the first to investigate the Radiotrons: Nanotube, Quicksilver, Greenscreen, and [REDACTED] (that is not their name, you will learn it later!).

Starscream, Moonkiller, and Pharma investigate a series of rust-related murders, later with the help of Eclipse and Terraform. the two they investigate? two hulking beings that carry a rust of sheer destruction of anything metal, Turbulence and someone known only as The Crimson Doctor. the third part is mostly with just a few characters. Dial-Up and Absolute Zero are in a cat-and-mouse chase, Dial-Up attempting to capture Absolute Zero and return him to the prison he escaped from. other 'bots come into this story, including Pylon, Airachnid, Suture, and Cyclonus, but they are not the main focus.

Turbulence.  this motherfucker. this moldy bitch.

my personal favorites? i love Sparkplug, i love my little gaming PC gal. The Crimson Doctor has also grown on me quite a bit. i'm gonna make fat robots and you can't stop me.

Q) Ominous! Is there a bigger point to this, like a theme or some catharsis? Or is it just fluffy fun?

a bigger point to this? well, i have quite my fair share of trauma for being in a military family - being on the home front of a war i never even learned about until i was like 12. i wanted to show the horrors of attrition above all, because attrition is the part of war that everyone seems to forget, but is possibly the most dangerous part of it. everyone's killing each other over resources, dying of preventable diseases, resources are spread thin among soldiers and thinner among civilians. it also lets new, perhaps worse groups arise from the dust.

war was never about who was right. it was about who could live longer. and RotR, with its rampant killings that people can't even begin to investigate until their leaders are toppled from their thrones and complete anarchy reigns among military sites, is a testament to that.

war was the cause for part of the namesake of the Radiotrons themselves - the Great Radiation Crisis. war was where everything went wrong

Q) How long have you been working on it?

now, for the slightly less dark - it varies from character to character! while the official plot of RotR was established on August 25 this year, some 'bots go much further back - Pascal's earliest concepts were made on May 8, Nanotube's were made on April 25, and The Crimson Doctor's roots go as far back as a character called The Crimson-Eyed Doctor, a character created on Dec 11, 2019 (happy belated birthday, Crim!).

and, now for something a bit more genuinely secret.

Q) Where did you draw inspiration from? What canons, what other fiction, what parts of real life?

this varies from subtle to shameless.

my cont would fit best in an comic format, so it makes sense that i was inspired by IDW - and that it was my entry into the TF fandom! there is also some TFA bits in there, but the majority of it is personal robot worldbuilding, with a couple sprinkles of headcanons and OCs taken from Afterburn, a cont made by a longtime friend of mine.

other fiction i took inspiration from is mostly in the character designs. Blackarachnia was loosely inspired by Tawna from Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (you went through such a good revamp sweetie. neon lesbian.). if you can't tell that Turbulence took inspiration from Cioccolata from JJBA: Golden Wind, i don't know what to tell you. Crim took less inspiration from a character and more from a trope - the "ever-obedient villain subordinate". i just sucked all of the homoeroticism out of it, and also decided to give him more of a self than just someone who serves the villain.

real life? RADIATION, RADIATION. i have radiation and radioactive things and the PERIODIC TABLE as a special interest and it SHOWS. it's all radiation. even the names. Quicksilver comes from mercury, Starborn comes from all elements being created from stars in space, Nanotube comes from carbon nanotubes, and [REDACTED] comes from... well, you don't know yet. there's also the whole attrition war thing, for real life inspiration, too.

Afterburn. my best friend made this i can't just NOT advertise it. go look at it there's murderers and there's an OC that's actually very inspired by not one but two of my creations (the original OC he was a fanformer of, and his altmode - I'd had thoughts of various greenhouse 'bots like that). @transformersafterburn​. please don't simp for Abzero. or maybe do. he's a better option than Turbulence.
