harrooooooooooo life update time again :3

on the 23rd i maaade sooooooooooooooooo many cookies. i made gingersnap cookies, peanut butter w/ chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate cookies, aaaaaaaaand mint double chocolate cookies. they were so yummy :3 my favourite was the mint double chocolate :D i love everything mint chocolate, i love mint chocolate in general iz js so yummy >:3

on Christmas eve a close family member of mine was supposed to get knee surgery (that feeling when knee surgery is tmr 😋) buuut it got cancelled cuz they were sick :( I ended up visiting my grandparents and watched a few Christmas movies with my family :> I helped my mom with mine and my brother Santa presents since my bro is still little and she got us new moniters <3 they are ultrawide and r taking some time to get used to lol, I had to adjust my entire desk just so it could fit.

todayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy was christmas !!! (im writing this at 1:35am the next day but we ignore that) I got sho many yummy yummy gifts this year :D I got a new microphone, a 512GB USB stick which I ACTUALLY NEEDED SOOOOO BAD (my storage is going to thank me lol) and some other stuffs, esp clothes :D I help with our Christmas party as well, my family always hosts Christmas and its rlly fun :> my dad likes to do a twist on white elephant every year, this year we added bingo in the mic and twas very fun. i love Christmas, iz such a happy day :3

on a more bleh note, the guy I liked who got a gf (I'm going to start referring to him as eggrolls) unfollowed me on insta and forced unfollowed me from him. ion rlly care that much but I'm js curious why eggrolls would do that, though he is the type to cut off any and all girls if he's in a relationship, or his gf could've said he doesn't like him talking to me. idk what it could be :\ tbh I just kinda wish he said something before doing that, he does have a public account though so I just went ahead and refollowed him. we were rlly good friends, idk why he would just unfollow me like that. he's also pretty much ghosted me since halfway through November (which is around when he and his gf started dating) so like idk. i thought we were good friends so ig I js wish he said smthin about it rather than just ghosting me, yknow? its kind of an asshole thing to just leave hanging someone with no explanation. ig I'm just gonna distance myself from him now, he's not worth my time if he's just gonna ghost me and pretend nothing happened. i think the worst part is that he has two ppl I'm friends with still friended on his account that ik weren't as close to him but I get the boot. idk its all js kinda weird I suppose, ppl are weird. i wish ppl could communicate more rather than just GHOSTING PPL COUGH COUGH

// Holy shit I guess I wrote a literal novel about this movie. Sweet Jesus. Let me just talk about some short stuff first and under the read more, will be the much more in depth, break down of the movie and certain scenes. I’m sure you all have heard most of it before with everyone doing these.

THIS ALSO MARKS THE MOMENT I’M NOT TAGGING SPOILERS ANYMORE.

The moment where Finn wakes, and asks Poe ‘Where’s Rey?” and the ambient noise + music quiets and it transitions to Ahch-To is beautiful and needs to be mentioned.

Or you know really any transition between story lines during the first half at least

Rey’s eyes mist and her lip quivers just a little when she verbalizes to Luke whats happening, and how it scares her. My poor baby.

The fact that Poe Dameron looking disheveled and dirty is like the most attractive thing needs to be mentioned.

I always forget how precious Rose is when she first introduces herself to Finn and talks with him, I fall in love all over again every time

Poe has not left Leia’s side since Leia was brought back into the ship oh wow you precious mamas boy

Ren’s line when lost in his thoughts, staring at Rey through the force for the first time “This is something else..” is too pure why haven’t we been talking about this guys

I didn't notice till now that Rey’s theme plays while she switches to the saber to train with (AND WHEN SHE TOSSES THE SABER TO BEN LATER FOR A LINE WOWZA), which is beautiful

I noticed after she slices the rock in front of her and it falls, she hides the saber behind ehr back like a little kid mY PRECIOUS BABE

PARALLELS BETWEEN TLJ and Crimson Peak, the “You are a monster” “I am” and “You told me you loved me!” “I do!” scenes, I haven't thought of the significance yet but MAN I love it

I was trying to write down all this while in theater but I got to the point where i just.. forgot to. I forgot the other things I wanted to say. Anyway the rest is long and drown out evaluations on scenes, characters ,and themes that I kinda just word-vomited out. So, sorry if its a bit choppy and all that, it is a mix from my second viewing with changes from my third viewing.

First, how the force is not defined by who wields it is a big theme this episode. Even if all ‘jedi’ and ‘sith’ are gone, the force will live. Its like an air bender saying the air will cease to exist if all the air benders were gone.

Rey over comes her thoughts on the force as I strictly black and white thing. She first thinks it as Ren is dark, he must be stopped. The Jedi and in extension Luke, is the light and thus will create a even balance. I think she has a firmer grasp on how the force works and how it relates to good versus evil, and understand enough that the force exceeds the Jedi and Sith. Of course,  I don't think she realizes this entirely till they break the saber after fighting together. He cant let go of the separation of things as much as she cant.

Luke’s line about how its vanity to think that the force’s power lies within certain people really bullet points this. Of course, she looked towards him for his guidance and knows he is right, but her vision with Ben clouds her judgement.

When the force bond is created-- and yes, this scene is still a favorite Id say-- She is quick to attack. She thinks Ren is doing it, and of course once he wraps his head around whats happening, he calms and we see his gentle, inquisitive side. I melt a little.

Another thing, a side note, more like-- I assumed after the first watch that Rey had some control, and closed herself off to him so he couldn't see where she was. But honestly, we never find out if she can see his surroundings. I can only assume, especially after seeing the hand scene from Luke’s point of view, that they exist solely in each others space, without their surroundings. “The effort would kill you” also helps this. I think their connection  was never Snoke’s doing, but the force. We can sorta see the force acts like its own entity sometimes, and since they are opposites to each other, the force brought them together. Snoke senses this and is quick to twist it to his favor. Anyways.

It isn’t till Ben tells her his side of the story of when he turned on the Jedi, she realizes he was just a kid when it happened. that it must have been terrifying to him, to have his own uncle turn on him, and no matter what motivations Luke had, they didn't make up for the trauma he gave Ben. He has turmoil, he is conflicted. I think its a moment of clarity for her, realizing there's a chance he can be changed, that she can be the light to him. She reaches out, and to her surprise he reaches back, in his weakness.

She explodes on Luke. Like in the forest, where she channels the force and overtakes Ren, we see the conflict in her, too. She demands the truth, she fights him for it. She needs to know if Ben is lying before truly pursuing him. And it is, the truth fully explains both sides. Ben’s first thought was his master turning on him, and Luke is shaded by his guilt of even thinking of harming his nephew. When Luke doesn’t comply to help her, she goes off by herself to try to bring Ben back.

At this point, I don't think she cares about where she stands within the force. She has more then just dabbled in the dark side and is a very morally grey character. Her heart is with the resistance, where the people she cares for lie, but her strength, her force power, is more so tied to the dark. I think Ben sees this and he assumes she’ll give in and stand beside him, as he grew being manipulated into thinking power is most important. Rey follows her intuition and heart and thinks Ben will return to the light because she sees a sort of fragility in his heart. I think that's the reason they both took what they saw differently.

Another thing proving that the force is what you make of it is when Snoke sees the conflict in Ben resolve itself and assumes its Ben, choosing to kill Rey. But of course, after seeing all he had done to Rey, the resolve lies in deciding to finally kill Snoke.

The fight scene is great. Even after the third time watching my heart is still racing from the point that he kills Snoke to the saber exploding. just wow. And the saber drop and catch was suuuch a sick moment. You go girl.

After the fight though, you see where their head spaces really are. As Rey runs to the spyglass and spats about saving the rest of the resistance, how he can now just give the command, He stops and stares at Snoke’s body. He’s lost, his purpose and presence in the galaxy was defined by what that man said. Without him, what was he? Who is he? Others have already speculated that he’s now having an identity crisis, and yes, I think he is. He immediately goes towards what he knows, steeling himself to preserve his power, thinking the best idea was let everything else go-- but her. He wants to have her with him, knowing his only light of guidance now lies in her. And she denied him, and he turns to anger, and he just doesn’t know where to turn. His emotions take lead as he takes position as the new Supreme leader, and even after discovering that he let them all get away, he sees her and crumbles, just in the smallest bit. HE was loosing the only one he felt he had left.

Rey is overwhelmed. She realizes, as he holds out his hand, that killing Snoke didn't end the fight, it sparked the beginning of a new one. She’d have to return to Leia with nothing, failing to give the resistance hope. He begs her, and she almost complies. She reaches out, but has a moment of hesitation. She probably thinks of Finn. of Leia, and all the other people she had met. They were good people, there were casualties in any war but they fought for good, the preservation of the innocent, the light in the force. Even if they left it all behind, the light and Dark would still be there. No, that wasn't the answer. So she changes her focus on the saber in his hand, and they fight for it.

She wakes before him. She could have seen him as dangerous, far more dangerous then he was before. But she leaves him there, unharmed. that was a fight for another day.

I think she had no idea Luke was there on Crait, even in spirit. She was worried about finding an exit for the resistance, her focus away from the split entrance to the abandoned base. She uses the force to lift the rocks and free her friends, and left with a better understanding on the force. Even as she feels Luke leave, worry crosses her features more than once. Mostly, for Luke;s safety. Did this mean he was dead? That he removed himself from the force again? was Snoke able to send troops to the island and attack him? She finds solace in Leia.

Once everyone has enters the Falcon, and she sees him again at the base of the loading platform, she struggles. Her hand hovers over the lock. She could leave the rest to find shelter in the ship while she sorts Ben out, but decides, whatever comes from that discussion will come another day. First, she needs to help get the resistance to a save hiding place while they fan the flame. She realizes Ben needs time to sort himself out before the speak again, through force bond or not.

|| Stranger Things's season 4 felt like a bridge between season 3 and 5. I have so many thoughts.

Personally, I really enjoyed this season - especially Eleven's origin and the introduction of Henry Creel and his storyline, it felt like it was more about him than anyone else - but the last episode felt so... off. It felt like nothing got revealed. Everything I wanted to be resolved just remained hanging in the air. Yes, I know, we need to be kept at the edges of our seats because of season five, but there're numerous ways this could've turned out.

For starters I really thought that Max will die. How El resurrected her (and messed it up) felt so, so wrong. Yes, she wanted her to live, but now she ended up in a state that's perhaps even worse than death. I know they wanted to make it clear how different Eleven and One are - One brings death, Eleven protects life - but since when does any of them have necromantic powers? You can clearly, easily kill with telekinesis, and I know Henry possesses maaad powers, he's waaay more advanced than Eleven, but to resurrect? It was a tad too much. Like it was put in the show so nobody really important (to Eleven) dies, but lives a life not worth living because she's clearly not there anymore.

It doesn't just feel like Eleven can't lose a loved one, it also feels like the Stranger Things writers themselves are afraid to kill off Max (or anyone from the core characters). The amount of shit they've done to Will, a death, in comparison, isn't that frightening. I would've felt sorry, yes, but she was so miserable during the entire season - even she admits she wanted something awful happen to her -, her death would've been a relief for her character. It would've been better than being in a coma from which she can never wake up. At least this is my opinion as a writer.

This just tells me that the writers were afraid to kill a 'lead' child of the show but I don't understand why when we've seen Henry systematically slaughter kids in the show. I mean constantly. We expected he'd kill someone we were invested in because everyone kept telling us this episode will hurt a lot! We were mortified Steve would die, for example. And One purposefully targeted children - starting with each and every one in the lab. I wonder why he hates kids so much, he could easily eleminate adults as well, everyone's powerless against him, so why kids? And why not write Max out when the opportunity arises? I mean yes, what happened to her did hurt, but from a writer's point of view, I don't expect they'll use her for plot or anything in the upcoming season considering the state she's been left in.

I was also so sure we'd get One's and Eleven's explanation said out loud - that she is his daughter. I've suspected this since they met, because I just felt he was One in episode five already and also the clues are all over (how he said she reminded him of One), it was even more obvious with the last episode when he said you and I, we are different. But no. It remains just a suspicion, maybe it'll be in the last season (as countless other things).

And while I'm happy the gang stayed alive, and suspected they would kill Eddie off, they kept telling us that heads will roll - I expected something far worse. Maybe that to get to Eleven, One targets Mike? Maybe that Mike is in danger and Will, being the purest, most selfless and loving character he is, saves him - or attempts to, but fails? (I'm sorry but he is the heart in my opinion, he fought for his friends to stay together, he tells others that they're valued and needed while Mike has been… sidetracked… for the past two seasons, diminished to protector of Eleven who can only repeat over and over again how much he can't lose her reminds me of Jon You're My Queen Snow.) Yes, it would've hurt and I would've hated it, but it would've had a more serious tone that I expected after seeing the hype in Twitter posts and articles quoted by the actors and creators.

Also Eddie, I've read a lot of complaints about Eddie's death in particular. I think of what would've happened if Eddie went back to the real world.

He was branded a murderer, a crazy mass murderer Satanist by the entire town. People who died were all linked to his name. The Upside Down is a place that you have to see with your own eyes because it's basically unbelievable if someone tells you about it. How would he explain what happened really? He had no chance to redeem himself in the real world, if he told the truth nobody would listen and he'd be locked up - either in a prison or in an asylum. Even in the closing scenes he had been talked about as a murderer.

When he stopped running, I think he knew this - and on top of this, he had to win the others time and had to protect Dustin, and he had no idea Vecna had been distracted on multiple lines already. He had to keep those creatures back from going after Dustin, and potentially, in the real world. If you look at it from this point of view, his sacrifice can be accepted. He wouldn't have a good life back in reality anyway, so why not go out with a boom?

(This doesn't mean I like the way he was written out. I still think it was a meaningless death. He had so much potential.)

One pointless side plot: Jason had a huge group of people and yet when they arrive at the old Creel house there's only two of them. Why? Where's the rest of the gang? Why make them seem to be a big problem in the end game when they aren't simply there when it goes down?

Another plotless side plot: Enzo and Jurij. Jurij kept being a major asshole and all his turning took one monologue from Enzo to turn? If it had been built for 2-3 episodes, I probably wouldn't complain. But it took three sentences and suddenly he's good again? It's so unbelievable. I also would've liked it if Enzo maybe remained to be the bait, maybe tell Hopper to tell his son he died in fight bravely, and blow up the entire facility with the Demogorgons in it. I'm not doing writing for a living, but Enzo was, and is, a totally expendable character, and if it doesn't matter what happens to him after escaping - because the last scene with him and Murray were in the copter -, then why not choose this line?

Will being gay and the way he's trying to deal with it hits hard - I've gone through the same hardships once and I can totally understand and feel for him. It's amazingly captured, the pain and struggle and not being sure if he'd be accepted by everyone as he is if he came out. It's also the 80s, which makes it even worse. I love how Jonathan noticed it in the car and how he tried to talk to Will about it, gently leaving the option open so he could come out if he wanted there and then. (And it's completely understandable that Will did not come out in the end.)

What was off putting for me was how Mike seemed to know when Vecna is fighting her and when the fight was over - how could he know that? And Will's nudging to urge Mike to give her strength to fight, and Mike finally told her he loves her - that was unbelievably, immensely painful because like I said I feel for Will and he was witnessing and hearing it all right beside him, that's salt in an open wound.

There's also a little mistake when Eleven explains that she could enter Max's mind and fight Vecna there: Eleven doesn't know Henry/One is also called Vecna. Mike has left for California when Dustin, Max, Steve and Robin talk to Eddie in the boat house and they name him Vecna there in episode two. Mike, Will, Jonathan, Argyle and Eleven can't know Henry/One is also called Vecna by the other group, and yet Eleven in that one scene explains like this:

"This is Max. When One attacks, he'll be in her mind. But I can do that too. I went into Mama's mind, into Billy's. I can go into Max's. She can carry me to Vecna. I can piggyback."

It was strange. I don't remember her hearing this name ever before, let alone using it for One.

And then - they had built Steve and Nancy's relationship and yet, it couldn't go anywhere. We got information about the relationship between Nancy and Jonathan, and Jonathan was struggling with telling her the truth, Argyle gave him a speech and yet at the end he still lied to her. These also felt like they'd carry it to the last season and it's so frustrating because you get these side plots you're invested in and yet nothing happens, they just keep standing in one place without moving anywhere. At least Joyce and Hopper got reunited and I really, really loved that. They had like, how much time to be happy together before reality started to melt with Upside Down, two days? Eleven getting back her real father was also very very touching for me. I'm so happy they could reunite. They got a tiny break together and it was lovely.

And I have to add it in because I'm always drawn to evil/morally grey characters all the time and I was extra excited to see this one particular actor in the show: Jamie Campbell Bower is absolutely slaying it as Vecna, his reasons and storyline is amazing and his motivations are understandable and well depicted, coupled with Jamie's acting we got a real villain we can love to hate. He delivers every single line and look and touch flawlessly. Once again, Jamie proved to me that he's an amazing actor who can play absolutely anything. Seriously. Give the man the attention he deserves.

So overall, I enjoyed it, there are so many things that still interests me, it didn't make me want to rage quit halfway the last episode (like cough Game of Thrones cough), but it felt like this was all an impossibly loooooong season that was only the build-up to the final season. Stuff happens but not really. If the fifth season came out already, I'd be really excited and say "okay, next one, NOW!" because the Real Big Fight is about to go down right now.

Despite the flaws, I still love the show, I'm still invested, and I can't wait to see more. 🖤

"Guys! Guys!"

Everyone lifted their heads as Cup rushed into the room. He was holding what seemed to be a small box. Oddly, too, he was grinning. "I had the best fucking idea!"

"If it involves putting cinnamon in Bird's food, I'm not joining that again," Writer huffed as she looked up from her paper.

Cup ignored Bird's loud 'WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!' as he ran into the middle of the room and held up the box.

Everyone, except Woods, collectively paled.

The male was holding up UNO.

"Nope, nope." Noodles shook her head as she stood up from her spot on a couch. She lightly tugged on Prompt's arm as well, who had been sitting next to her, but was now standing. "We're not playing that. Nope. Not again."

"Awww, c'mon!" Cup pouted. "It'll be fun!"

Finn glared. "Fun?! Nash and Alexi tried to strangle each other!"

"MOTHERFUCKER CHEATED AND I STAND BY IT!"

"I WILL GUT YOU LIKE A FISH, BIRD BOY-"

Cinna sighed and shook her head before looking at her second lover. "Cup, hun, normally I'd be all over some type of game to pass the time. But.. UNO? Really? Do you not remember you throwing Bird into the wall after he skipped you four times?"

Cup grumbled, "you agreed that it was mean of him."

"And I still stand by that!" the girl nodded. "But on the other hand, I'd like to not have to help heal anyone."

Woods blinked before standing. "I have no clue what UNO, but judging by how everyone is behaving, it makes me believe I may need to babysit Pippin."

The butterfly-human hybrid walked out of the door before anyone could say anything else. The room fell quiet for a moment, save for Nash's small sigh of relief. Everyone looked at each other before Citypop spoke up.

"Well, now that Pippin is around, maybe we will be able to control ourselves." the demon pried himself from Cookie, who whined at the loss of contact from her husband. "Plus, Woods is a good mediator and everyone likes her! So maybe we won't get into a fight this time."

The rest of the group considered it. They knew Citypop was right. They had been much more careful now that Pippin was around, and the boy wouldn't be able to intrude on the game if Woods was around to babysit him.

After a moment, Alroy spoke up.

"I'll get the table."

The table was a circle. They estate had a lot more of circle tables, and not many rectangle ones. Orion himself had them put away after the last UNO game, where Writer and Bird both broke off pieces and nearly stabbed each other.

Everyone was seated around the table, each person having 7 cards. The game had begun some time ago, about 30 minutes, but it was going surprisingly well. Only one threat had been made.

Until now.

Finn stared at Alroy as the demon placed down a skip card. Seeing as Finn was seated next to Alroy, and the order had been reversed eariler by Vex, the skip went to him instead of Cup.

"I will kill you later," Finn growled as he clutched the cards in his hands.

"Sure you will," the former guardian demon mused, turning his attention back to the game.

Bird snickered before placing down card. "Aw, is the wittle puppy maaad?"

"I will KILL ALL OF YOU-"

Prompt chuckled and shook his head. "No you won't."

The ex-prince glanced at the card Bird placed and let out a small hum. He looked down at the cards he held and froze. He didn't have the same color. Hell, he didn't even have a wild card. Well.. that was a lie. He did have one, but it would screw over the person next to him. The Niviasin flicked his tail as he glanced at Noodles.

The neko felt her heart drop when her lover looked at her like that. "No. Don't do it."

Amoris glared at the two. "You two really are menaces."

Prompt let out a small sigh. "I'm sorry, love."

Noodles let out a mock cry as her lover set down a +4. "WHA-"

"Y-you had-d a plus-s four?" Vex's eyes dialted.

The tall man chuckled softly and nodded. The cat-human hybrid let out grumbles as she grabbed four cards from the pile of cards. Alexi snickered at the misfortune of Noodles before placing down a card.

Senti shook his head as he stared at his cards before looking at Reba. "..What do I do again?"

Reba let out a small groan. "Place down a card that's the same color as the one Alexi put down."

"Why not the same number?"

"Because this isn't online, dumbass."

"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Cookie stood up from her stair and slammed her hands on the table. "WHAT THE FUCK?! I WAS GOING TO WIN!!!"

Writer grinned at her wife before looking at the skip card on the pile. "Yeah. You were. And if anything, blame Nash! He put down the red!"

"ME?!" Nash cried, exasperated. "Bird was the dipshit who put the +2!!"

"WH- YOU LYING SON OF A BITCH! I FUCKING HATE ALL OF YOU!"

"THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE THING THIIIIIIINGS." Citypop slammed his head against the table.

Alroy said nothing in response to all the arguing. Instead, he looked at Finn. Cinna stared at her other boyfriend, her eyes wide. "Alroy. Alroy, don't do it."

The demon slowly grinned as the wolf-human hybrid gripped the table.

Cup shook his head. "Don't do it. Alroy, please, don't do it."

Vex sucked in a harsh breath as Alroy stared Finn dead in the eyes and placed a +4 on the pile. Senti gasped as he quickly pushed away from the table, Reba following suit.

Which would fuck over Finn even more.

Because he had 20 cards.

The hybrid let out a shout of rage as he flipped the table over. Everyone let out various shouts of shock as they managed to dodge the table as it smashed against the wall.

Everyone was still for a moment before Alexi lunged at Nash and tackled him. "YOU CHEATING LITTLE SHIT-"

"I CHEATED?! OH YOU ASS-WIPE-"

Cookie and Writer began to roll around on the ground, while Citypop tried to break them apart. "YOU'RE MEANT TO LOVE ME!"

"I DO!"

"I WAS GOING TO WIN!"

"DARLINGS, PLEASE-"

Prompt slowly backed away from the chaos along with Cinna, Noodles, Vex, and Cup. The snake-human hybrid whimpered as he hung his head. "C-can't w-e have ni-nice things-s?"

"Fucker!"

Everyone in the room froze before turning to look at the entrance. There, standing proud, was a grinning Pippin and a crouching and panting Woods.

"I-I'm so sorry!" Woods panted. "He runs so fast!"

"Uh.. Pip? What did you say?" Cinna blinked.

"Fucker! Ass-wipe! Bitch! Shit!"

The group all hung their heads, grumbling under their breath.

"Son of a motherfucking whore bitch."

"FINN!!!"

(Sorry. I felt like this was kinda OOC, for everyone. Like.. I really feel like everyone is OOC and I don't feel like I included everyone. I also know I did a shit job on Reba and Senti, but I haven't gotten familiar with their characters yet. So I'm sorry, Cup. :(( But I'm proud of it soooo.. I'll send it! Hope everyone likes it!)
