Any thoughts to share about the secret husbands reunion? It's giving me such brain worms, they're so soft!
ofc!!! :D
so after they reunite on mumboâs redstone world and catch up, grian stays there for a few days with scar Constantly visiting. and honestly I think itâs an opportunity for mumbo and scar to become better friends as well! the three of them spend a lot of time in each others company after all. but mumbo does try to give scar and grian some space (I think mumbo is one of the first to notice theyâve got feelings for each other)
he also gets a front row seat to scar becoming his normal self again. the man canât stop smiling, and heâs like a bouncy ball with how much heâs just moving around and cheerful (mumbo catches grian looking at him with a terribly fond smile Very often)
grian probably stays with mumbo for hmmm two weeks? maybe a bit longer? after crashing into his world? it gives them a lot of time to get to know each other (they get along extremely well â just like scar thought they would) and while grian doesnât tell him Every little detail about the watchers, mumbo does end up learning about what happened and is one of the only people who knows the most
when scar isnât with them, heâs back on the season five world hatching a plan to sneak grian onto hermitcraft
said plan is foiled Very quickly when itâs found by cub and xisuma himself. they laugh about it because âscar you couldâve just asked us to invite grianâ and scar is rambling because he knows it has to be a unanimous vote and what if not everyone agrees and heâs just gotten grian back x :( he canât be separated from him again :(
to which cub just sets a hand on his shoulder and tells him itâll be fine (scar brings it up at the next meeting and everyone is enthusiastic about grian joining them. scar cries. a lot.)
and when he and mumbo pop into mumboâs world again where grian is, they drop the news on him (no scar did Not tell grian about any of this beforehand) and maybe grian gets a little teary eyed too
scar stays in the world that night, curled protectively around grian and they whisper to each other about hermitcraft, the sort of server it is and the people in it. and heâs quick to reassure grian of his place in it when grian is doubtful
after grianâs injuries heal up enough mumbo lets him have his own lil plot in the world to practice his building again. itâs been so long that heâs⊠nervous about doing it again. what if heâs no good anymore?
when scar comes to visit heâll sit and watch grian build, introducing the new blocks and colors and oh heâs greatly missed the way grianâs eyes sparkle with interest or when heâs got a new idea for a build â sometimes they build together, and sometimes mumbo joins them, learning some things
(heâs kind of in awe, watching the two of them work together. itâs very inspirational)
sometimes they do a build competition, with little prompts and everything. they take turns on who judges the build/gives the prompt and who actually builds
and when itâs time for season fiveâs ending, grian is alone in mumboâs world for a bit while scar and mumbo wrap up whatever they need to. itâs⊠hard to be alone, but he comforts himself by looking at the reminders of scar (and mumbo) and he gets through
scar gets a bear hug when they return though. and then mumbo too, just so he doesnât feel left out <3
then finally⊠scar brings grian home. and theyâre both very emotional about it. grian sees jellie and sheâs glued to his side despite his fear she wouldnât remember him. she is extremely adamant about sleeping On grian at night, and scar teases him about stealing his cat. âour cat,â grian replies with a big grin. though scar says something about jellie missing him just as much
(I think on those days when scar would stay at their hypixel apartment in hopes grian would come home, jellie went with him. and at night sheâd curl up on grianâs pillow a lot. her favorite toy would be on his side of the bed, always. scar would hold bring grianâs pillow in close with her on it and cry)
while waiting for season six to start they spruce up the apartment a bit !!! they try to get back into the swing of their routine while accounting for the new things (grianâs wings, his fears, his nightmares, the powers they gave him)
it isnât easy, but they get through it. and when the season properly begins, they spawn in, and grian goes off on his own to adventure and meet everyone. heâs⊠a little awkward and shy (very unlike him, he knows) but ironically ends up right by scar and mumbo and heâs so relieved (I think scar and grian talked about basing near each other before the season began)
and yeah :D

New Life Chapter 4
Etho pushed himself to his feet, using the cave wall to steady himself. He rubbed at his face groggily. God, he hated moving to new servers. Especially if that server included permadeath. He slipped his mask on, and clipped his sword and makeshift scabbard onto his waist. He pulled on his gloves and rubbed the sleep from his eyes one last time. Up and at âem.
He marched out into the main room of the little shelter he and Bdubs had constructed the night before. He slipped silently into the small tunnel connecting the shelter to Bdubsâ tiny closet of a room. He stepped into the room and saw Bdubs passed out on the bed, sprawled out awkwardly. Etho couldnât help a small smile at the sight. Then his hand brushed against his sword.
It would be so easy to kill Bdubs right now. His abdomen was completely unguarded, and there were no weapons within sight other than his own. It would be smart too. If what everyone else said was true, Bdubs was also on four lives. Taking one and knocking him down to his lime green life wouldnât be a bad idea. He wouldnât go red just yet, but heâd also be easier to take out if need be.
Etho shook his head, letting his hand fall back to the side. What was he thinking? He and Bdubs were allies. He couldnât kill his fellow hermit. He wouldnât kill him. Besides he wasnât a red life yet. He wouldnât be allowed to kill him. Not yet, at least.
Gently, Etho reached out his hand and shook Bdubs awake.
Grian rode through the forest, reins draped through his fingers. The horse he had found was a beautiful steed, snow white and muzzle speckled with spots of black and dark gray. His search for caves last night had been fruitless. But when he had found the horse, he had found a set of diamond armor tied to the creature's side. Part of Grian wondered if it was a gift from the universe. Most of him really, really hoped it wasnât.
Suddenly, he heard two voices drifting through the trees. One was male, one was female. He recognized Scarâs voice instantly, and after a moment, he also recognized Lizzieâs. Quietly, he dismounted and wrapped the horseâs reins around a tree. âIâll be back in a minute, buddy,â he murmured. Then he set off.
After a moment, the trees cleared to reveal a small river side beach and a cave plunging into the side of a small hill. Scar was sitting on the edge of the hill, and Grian could see a bright pink and blue smudge just inside the cave that must have been Lizzie. âYou know, Iâm actually the boogeyman,â Scar was saying. âSo you should definitely give me a life.â Grian froze.
âScar, don't joke about that!â he blurted out before he could stop himself. Scar leapt to his feet and Lizzie scrambled to see over the hill. âOh, hey, Grian,â Scar said, grin growing wider. âDidnât see you! Did you hear what I was telling Lizzie?â âAbout how youâre actually the boogeyman?â Grian said, eyebrow raised. âDo you even know what the boogeyman does?â âWell of course!â Scar said. âThen you know that if the boogeyman doesnât kill someone in nine days then they become a red life?â
Scarâs face fell momentarily, horrified. But then his eyes lit up with mischief. Grian swore under his breath. âOf course I knew that,â Scar said, turning back to Lizzie. âWhich is exactly why you should give me a life, Lizzie. If you do that then I wonât kill you this round.â âBut whyâs that such a big deal?â Lizzie asked. âI have plenty of lives to spare. It doesnât really matter if you take one. Besides, this is just a game right?â
Grian flinched back, and Scarâs jaw tightened. âNo, Lizzie,â he said quietly. âThis is not âjust a game.ââ âLizzie,â Grian explained, voice slightly pained. âIf you lose all your lives, then you're dead. Like, permanently. It was a miracle we survived last time. I donât know if the universe will let us come back this time.â The mood sombered. Lizzie simply stared as she processed what Grian had just said.
Then, suddenly, Scar clapped his hands together, startling the others out of their thoughts. âThatâs exactly why you donât want me to kill you, Lizzie,â he said. Suddenly, Grian had his arm caught in his grip and was pulling Scar into the trees. Scar stumbled along behind him, spluttering indignantly. Once they had reached the spot where Grian had left his horse, he shoved Scar up against a tree.
âThis isnât a game, Scar,â he growled. âLizzie is a friend. And if she dies, she could die permanently. Donât ever threaten people like that again. Our actions have actual consequences. This isnât just some harmless scam youâre pulling. This is peopleâs lives, Scar. Do you not see how messed up that is?â Scarâs gaze hardened. âGrian, let me go. Now.â Grian didnât move. âGrian,â Scar warned, much more firmly this time.
âPromise me,â Grian said, voice small and almost defeated. âPlease, Scar. Promise you wonât pull a stunt like that.â âI promise,â Scar said. Grian didnât notice the way he crossed his fingers as he spoke. Grian released his hold on Scar. Suddenly, Scar sprinted away and began untying Grian's horse from the tree. âWhat are you-â Grian said, but before he could finish the sentence, Scar was already galloping away.
Bdubs pressed his ear closer to the wall, listening for the tell-tale sound of lava. His brow furrowed, but then he pulled back. âThis wall should be clear,â Bdubs said. âWho knows, maybe weâll even get lucky and itâll open into a cave.â Etho nodded silently, then gestured for Bdubs to move.
Bdubs stepped back as Etho raised his pick and brought it down on the rock face. A minute later, he had broken through the wall. He brushed away a few stray pieces of stone, and Bdubs tucked the item drops into his pocket. âWell, shall we see whatâs on the other side?â Etho asked. Bdubs nodded, and slipped through the opening.
There was indeed a cave. Quickly, Bdubs propped a torch up against the wall, and scanned the area. He saw a few veins of iron and coal, but otherwise, nothing truly useful. âNo diamonds in here,â he called back to Etho. âThereâs some iron though if you want that.â âI think weâve got bigger problems,â Etho said from right beside Bdubs. Bdubs jumped. âGeez,â he muttered. âHow long were you standing there?â Then he noticed Etho was staring intently at a darkened corner of the cave.
Bdubs followed his gaze to see Tango and Skizz standing in the corner, hands on the hilts of their swords. âOh, hey guys,â he greeted. âHow long have you been in here?â âCouple hours,â Tango said evenly. âStayed here once we heard you guys coming though. You might want to consider being more careful. After all, we only have so many lives.â Bdubsâ hand strayed towards his sword. âWe do,â he said, a hint of threat creeping into his voice. âI would be pretty careful if I was you.â
Suddenly Etho broke in, trying to diffuse the tension. âSo, howâs the resource gathering been going, gentlemen?â âPretty good,â Skizz, still slightly cautious. âWe found a couple of diamonds.â âOh, really?â Etho said. Bdubs could practically see the gears turning behind his eyes. âHow many?â âFour,â Skizz said with a shrug. âThat means two each.â
Before anyone could blink, Tango was entangled in spider webs, another cobweb item floating in Ethoâs hand. âWell, gentlemen, itâs wonderful that youâve found some diamonds. But let me explain how this is gonna go,â the ninja said, calmly, tossing the cobweb from hand to hand. âOne of us is the boogeyman. If you want to escape with your lives, youâll hand over those diamonds.â âWe donât even know what the boogeyman is supposed to be,â Tango scoffed. âThatâs hardly a threat.â
âOh, Iâm happy to explain,â Etho said. âYou see, the boogeyman is someone randomly chosen by the server every nine days. And guess what? They get to kill people regardless of how many lives they have.â Bdubs felt sick. Etho was literally threatening to kill their friends. Did Etho know Bdubs was the boogeyman. If Bdubs really thought about it, his strategy was a good one. Someone on the server was allowed to kill, and no one knew who it was. Using that fact to get better resources was a good move. Bdubs tried desperately to ignore how vulnerable Tango was right now, how close at hand his sword was.
Skizzâs hand crept towards his sword. âAh ah ah,â Etho warned. âThere are two of us. One of you is trapped, and one of us is allowed to kill. I wouldnât try anything Skizz.â Bdubsâ stomach began to turn. It would be so, so easy to kill Tango right now. He shoved the thought down.
âWhatâll it be, gentlemen?â Etho said. Bdubsâ hand brushed over the hilt of his sword. Suddenly, he drew it, and Skizz and Tango flinched back. He cut the webs away from Tango. âGet out of here,â he ordered. Tango and Skizz didnât protest, sprinting out of the cave. Bdubs watched them go. The headache from yesterday was returning. He ignored how feverish his skin felt, ignored the growing nausea in his stomach. He should have killed Tango.
Pearl added another layer of stone to the small platform she and Scott had made. He was a few blocks above her, scanning the nearby forest for any signs of other players. She glanced up, ready to ask him what he was seeing, but stopped when she saw his expression.
He was sitting despondent on the edge of the platform, twisting his crown between his hands, rubbing his thumb over the rim. The poppy he had picked earlier was sitting by his side, seemingly forgotten. What had happened between him and Jimmy earlier. Clearly they had been friends, at least once upon a time. But it was clear that wasnât the case anymore, or at least Jimmy hadnât wanted that to be the case. She watched as Scottâs fists curled around the crown. He looked as if he wanted to fling it away. But after a moment, he relaxed. Pearl sighed affectionately, and began clambering up the tower.
Before she reached the tower however, she heard the sound of horse hooves, and glanced down to see Scar riding a beautiful white horse. âHey, Scar!â she called down. Scar startled, but then he too called down to Scar. âHey guys!â Scar called up. âWhatâre you up too?â âJust a quick break,â Pearl said, dropping back down to the lower half of the platform. âNice, nice,â Scar said. âSay, Pearl, I canât help but notice youâre on your dark green life.â
âI am,â Pearl said, not missing the way Scottâs hand drifted to the bow slung across his back. âWell, that means you have a few lives to spare,â Scar said. âYou know, we have a give life command now, so you can just transfer lives to each other.â âOh, really?â Pearl said. âAnd I assume you want me to transfer you a life?â
âWell, of course,â Scar said. âBut if you need some extra incentive, Iâm also the boogeyman.â âWhat does that mean?â Scott asked warily. âIt means Iâm allowed to kill you.â Pearl froze. Casually, Scott unslung his bow. âLot of good that does you,â he said. âItâs two versus one. Besides weâre up here and I have a bow.â Scarâs face fell. Then, they heard the sound of soft humming drifting across the clearing. A few minutes later, Jimmy appeared at the edge of the little field. Scarâs face lit up. âYou may be safe but Jimmyâs not,â he said. âWhat?â Jimmy asked, startled by the sudden acknowledgement of his presence.
âHey, Jimmy,â Scar greeted. âHave you heard of the wonderful give life command?â âI have actually,â Jimmy said, pleased. âI bumped into Grian earlier. He told me about it.â âWell, then, surely you already know how to use it,â Scar said. âIâm not giving you my life Scar,â Jimmy said. âWould it convince you if I told you that Iâm the boogeyman?â Scar said, a bit of menace creeping into his voice. âI could just kill you if I wanted too.â
Pearl didnât miss the way Scott instantly loaded an arrow and aimed it at Scarâs head. âIâm not giving you a life, Scar,â Jimmy said again, a bit more nervously this time. ââCause then Iâll be on my red life, and I really donât think anyone wants that. I have a spyglass, though.â There was silence for a moment, but then Scar shrugged. âYeah, Iâll accept that.â Jimmy tossed it to Scar, and scampered off as quickly as he could.
Pearl didnât miss how Scott waited until both Jimmy and Scar were out of sight before he let himself relax.
Grian clambered up the hill to the enchanting table that marked spawn. He opened the book that lay in the center of the table, and smeared lapis dust across his sword. He began to speak the enchantment, but suddenly, he heard something hit the ground behind him. He whirled around, brandishing the sword but relaxed when he saw Etho.
âMan, Etho, we really need to put a bell on you,â he joked. âPlease donâtâ Etho said lightly. âThat sounds like itâd be a nuisance.â âYeah, but you couldnât scare the rest of us half to death all the time.â
Etho rolled his eyes, and tossed a crafting table to the ground. âBdubs, where are you?â he called down the hill. âIâm here, Iâm here,â Bdubs complained, appearing as he spoke. âCool,â Etho said. âYou can get our stuff enchanted after Grian.â Bdubs nodded. âTables free,â Grian said, resheathing his sword. âI see your resource gathering has been going well.â âYeah,â Bdubs said, rubbing lapis across his and Ethoâs swords. âTook us a while to find diamonds, but eventually we did.â âNice,â Grian said. âWhat are you making, Etho?â âJukebox,â Etho said, tossing the item to the ground as he did so. âYeah, we found this really cool music disc earlier.â
Etho slipped the disc into the jukebox and eerie music began to echo throughout the night. âYou know,â Etho said. âWhenever you hear this, someoneâs about to die.â Grian burst out laughing. âOh man,â Grian said. âPlease tell me one of you is the boogeyman so we can make this happen.â âYouâre correct,â Bdubs said.
Suddenly, a sword was slashing across Grianâs chest. âWait what?â Grian said stumbling, fumbling to draw his own sword. Before he could do anything though, Bdubs made another thrust at him, piercing his shoulder. Grian turned tail and spirited away. He reached the edge of the river, and was about to jump into the water when a sword plunged into his back and through his chest.
Grian was slain by Bdoubleo100.

First // Previous //Current // Next >>Â -------- Also on ao3!
At first it wasnât noticeable. Maybe the blocks you just broke would suddenly go back to where they had been. Maybe your hits wouldnât connect with the mob you were hitting. Then it slowly got worse and worse. And then the world around them started to vanish.
And that was only the beginning.
Things were getting weird. There was a while where he hadnât been actively involved with the others trying to deal with some things on his own, but now that he was back it was clear that something beyond normal was starting to happen.
And he wasnât talking about whatever was going on with the build off. He was talking about the actual world itself. The holes straight to bedrock, the strange redstone torches in caves, the half carved out strip mines that randomly appeared, the mobs spawning even if the area was completely lit up, the portals breaking or connecting strangely, and now, now it had been night for three whole days in a row.Â
Phantoms screeched above the skies of Hermitville. Most of the hermits in Hermitville hadnât been able to sleep in over three days. Because not only had sun not risen for three days in a row now, but the beds they had also placed there would never actually let them sleep the night away due to the fact monsters kept spawning no matter the light level. Plus for the past four days the nether portal had been broken so that was also fun.Â
The fact of the matter was that the longer they stayed up though, the more phantoms kept spawning. Thankfully X said he was trying to fix the portal issue for first so at least they could hide from the phantoms there.
The strangest thing was that apparently the main islands were completely unaffected by the broken day/night cycle. Which was strange in itself, granted a lot of the hermits were out in Hermitville currently. Then on top of all of that were the raids.Â
Cub and X had flew inside the walls carrying Scar and Jellie respectively a few days ago looking tired, ragged, and wounded. Behind them was a group of ravagers and then several raid patrol parties chasing them. No matter how many patrols they took down, two more would come and take their place.Â
They had holed up in the portal tower. Xisuma was in his church messing with the code, hiding away from the rest of them in hopes that the patrols that managed to break through the walls and constant swooping phantoms would go for the larger group. It seemed to be working for the most part, but there was only so long they could hold up there before their barricade downstairs was broken through from the sheer number of things trying to kill them.Â
It would be death to peak out and try to shoot down some of the mobs outside so they were stuck in here, cluttered together, just waiting for Xisuma to send word the portal was fixed. He knew a lot of the other hermits had also come out to build and explore in and around Hermitville, but now that they were all clumped up here together it was strange to see so many of them gathered in one place for once. It was worse because of the situation they were in.Â
Scar sat across from him, curled up around Jellie. No one asked about what had happened that required Scar to be carried instead of flying on his own. Granted amidst all the chaos that started right after the three of them flew into the village, he doubted many people had even noticed that fact. If he watched closely, he could see Scar shake silently with every breath he took.Â
Another thing why the others may not have asked was because Cub sat between Scar and a majority of the other hermits that were here. Though most of the others seemed to be talking about something, but he really wasnât listening too much. It was too hard to hear over the screech of phantoms and general chaos outside. Well that and the fact that he was exhausted from a general lack of sleep and annoyance at being constantly blown up by creepers trying to build his manor. That and now things like what happened to Stress and Tango kept piling up. Â
He was pulled from his thoughts when the portal next to him lit up and his communicator beepeed.
XisumaVoid: The portal should be working now, head in and Iâll make my way after you once most of the mobs dissipate from a lesser population.
The others were also reading the message, gathering up their things, and - there was a loud explosion from below them that shook the whole tower. Fumbling from the tower shaking as he stood up, he nearly crashed into Scar. Another explosion shook the tower and Scar went tumbling into the portal. Without second thought he dove in after him.Â
The transition between the overworld and the nether was always something he could never get used to. It was disorienting to go from the gentle and usually calm air of the overworld to the harsh heat of the nether. The loudness of the nether now seemed quite compared to the warzone they had literally just come from. Standing up slowly he brushed his clothes off and looked around for Scar. For a second he was nowhere to be seen and Wels couldnât stop the fear that started weighing down on him.Â
Then he saw something shift from the other side of the portal. Crouched behind the portal, Scar sat curled up in on himself, shaking violently. Rushing over to help Scar his heart jumped out of his chest when the portal shattered right next to him. Scar gasped loudly and shuddered at the sound. Throwing away his fears about the now broken portal he dropped to kneel next to Scar.Â
âScar, Scar can you look at me?â he asked as quietly as he could over the sounds of the nether.
Scar slowly turned to look at him, breathing heavily. He didnât need to look closely to see the tears in Scarâs eyes nor the dried tear tracks on his face. Just what had happened before all this?Â
âJust breathe with me okay? Weâre going to be fine, just breathe with me right now okay?â he explained slowly. Making sure to breathe deeply so that the movements of his chest would be easily visible. âBreathe in, one two three, hold it four five, breathe out, six seven eight. Okay? In, one two three. Hold, four five. Out, six seven eight.â
He repeated the cycle several times until Scarâs breathing was only occasionally hitching. At this point he could faintly hear several pairs of footsteps nearby. Slowly getting up, he looked around he saw the other hermits rushing over to them. Maybe they managed to relight the portal, or had to find another one. Looking closer it was easier to tell that the latter option was the one they had done. Most of them were bruised and covered in phantom bites with tattered and torn elytra. Only Grian looked mostly unscathed which made sense because he was probably the best flyer out of the bunch.Â
Cub rushed up and immediately took the spot down next to Scar. He couldnât hear what they were saying because they were whispering too quietly but Scar was whispering back so he took it as a good sign.
âAre you two okay?â Joe asked as he jogged over not far behind Cub. Doc not far behind him with the architech boys trailing behind them both as Grian held onto Jellie, and Iskall helped Mumbo along who wasnât putting weight on his left leg.Â
âBetter off than the rest of you Iâd say, though I canât speak for Scar. Heâs still affected by whatever had happened before the past few days.â He explained looking back to where Cub was helping Scar up.
âWhat do you mean?â Doc asked looking the two Convex over.
âWell Cub and X came flying into town like four days ago and Cub was carrying Scar like he couldnât fly on his own. I couldnât see any scars on him though so I donât know if he died or if they just faded away by the time they went and found him. But whatever happened, its shaken Scar up pretty badly. When we fell through the portal I had to get him to copy my breathing to stop him from hyperventilating.â He said. Behind him someone said something he didnât quite catch. Turning around to face Cub and Scar, he caught most of what Scar was saying thankfully.
â.... There was a glitch. I was walking through the forest out near another village I had just renovated. Then the chunk I had stepped into vanished beneath me and I was stuck there until X and Cub came to find me.â Scar admitted. He looked down at Jellie whom Grian had handed off to him. He held Jellie a little bit tighter as he continued, âFor three days I was stuck there. It, I, it was the worst. There was this awful static noise that nothing else seemed to be affected by. The worst part was -â
Scar was cut off when his, no everyoneâs communicator dinged. Pulling out his own out, he read the message. It was in that moment he felt it deep in his soul, that they were in way over their heads.
