Joan Brown - Age 40, occupation around humans, cleaning lady for the local police. It's a good job that gets her excellent intel, especially if she is asked to help clean up old crime scenes. Locally renowned in the area by the night time denizens for the last twenty five years, she's known for being quite fair in her dealings with non-garou. Speaking of garou, she's a Fianna, the Irish clan of werewolves and one of the more respected members of the local werewolf hub, which is called a Caern. Her Garou name is "Bright Eye". Under that eye patch is a bit of silver from Nuada infused with spiritual energy. She keeps it covered with that eyepatch as extended use of the eye drains her and tires her out. Very few know exactly what the eye does, but the stories of how she acquired it say that when she first changed into a werewolf a powerful dark spirit ripped out her eye as it had heard that the newest clan Fianna member would help to drive out the dark with just her eyes. This happened in 1974, and in 1976 she returned to the Dublin Caern with the new silver eye, her then pack backed up the story and from there she just grew into a bit of a local legend. She's very keen on keeping Werewolf/Changeling relations good in the area so she's almost always asked to look into disputes and issues that involve them. Rumors persist that she has fae ancestors, but that isn't too uncommon with the Fianna. She's had her eye on Joan since she joined the caern, and when she was approached by a priestess of the caern about the strange occurrences with the changeling court she picked her personally to be her assistant, a hunch or more accurately something that involves her arcane eye told her that Ilsa would be the only person in the caern able to help her with this investigation.

Ilsa Bierhals - Age 32, occupation around humans, bartender. She hears a lot of good gossip, and also learns a lot of the troubles of the local people this way. She's been at the Caern for three years after leaving the Central Park Caern, in New York. There was a rumor that four of her friends had made their way to Ireland and she desperately wanted to reconnect with them, especially one. Ilsa keeps to herself at the Caern, to the point most don't even know who she is or what her garou name is. That garou name happens to be "Silver-tongue", and her clan is Shadowlord, a group known for political machinations. This part of the story highlights the first time she has gone on a mission with another Garou since joining the Caern. There is a good reason as to why she keeps to herself, one that most garou know by looking at her. She's what they call a Crinos-born, a werewolf born of the forbidden relationship between two werewolves. Crinos-born are highly discriminated against in Garou society as it is considered an incestuous relationship. They sometimes have a host of physical, and neurological issues. Ilsa's issue is pretty straightforward, she has a third eye, which she conceals under her bandana. Strangely the eye is not a burden to her as it can pierce the veil between worlds and show her shadows of what the spirits and energies of the area are doing when she opens it. Her other issue is that friend I mentioned, in 1992 Ilsa was part of a pack where three of the eight members died destroying a wyrm hive. The other four were so grievously injured their tribes (Black Furies, and Bonegnawers) took them to a place of healing in Canada the only one left conscious at the time was Ilsa, causing rumors about what must have really happened. Ilsa was also injured during this mission, but people tend to gloss over that fact as she did not die from her injuries or require extreme care. She doesn't really talk about her missing friends, because she was in a relationship with one of them and as a Crinos-born, it would be something other garou would kill her for. A week previous to this story, she and her former lover finally reconnected but something felt off to Ilsa about the whole meeting. There were apologies, and um...more than apologies, and a lot of making up but the whole situation is bothering her for some reason. Can't quite put her finger on the reason though. Other Stuff - Fun fact I don't often talk about, these are all characters I used to play with my friends in Werewolf the Apocalypse, there are of course new characters and stuff I made up for the comics but a majority of the cast are people I played in games back in the 1990s, which is one of the reasons the setting and year is near Samhain 1999. And just for funsies, here is some EXTREMLY old artwork (2006) for the three werewolves in this story when they were much younger, and happier (except Aleksandra, she's always been the soft goth/punk sadgirl)

so.

while Mestas is still an oc of mine and near and dear to my heart, the MTG RP that spawned her and has been the source of most of her story and development over the years is being ended effective immediately.

the tl;dr for that is that the RP group (except for a couple players) is toxic as hell and also involves my toxic ex (who writes Bial and the other 3 Revelers)

working to separate my characters from my ex's is a huge part of the reason that @slumberinggods exists now, as working in a completely oc universe without my ex's influence has become more and more important to me as time goes on

so if the RP is ending, what does that mean for Mestas, and for this blog as a whole, which largely revolves around the MTG version and all the mostly MTG-related AU iterations of her?

in essence, the MTG version of Mestas that this blog focuses on is going to be considered an AU version from now on. while i've not yet decided on if i'm shuffling names around again, the Slumbering Gods version (currently named Fianna) is going to be considered the "main" version of Mestas from now on. this was always going to be the intent once i'd developed SG some more, but it's being put on the fast track now because of what's going on.

i've already had an idea for how the rest of Mestas' story would go after the point we're currently in for the RP anyway, and my preferred path for her was gonna go against the original plan for the RP (as i recently mentioned in a post, i believe; Mes won't be getting back with Bial no matter what he does to try and fix shit) so writing out the end of the MTG version of the story on my own and with my own terms is fine by me.

also, since i now have full control and don't have to worry about other people's input, the RP timeline is now gonna be tweaked in certain ways to remove or alter some really awkward or forced scenes that shouldn't have been part of it in the first place.

everyone else in the group who isn't a toxic shitbag already knows why i'm dipping out and ending things, so this isn't coming as any sort of huge surprise to anyone except the shitty members of the group, who will be blindsided.

it probably won't affect this blog very much except for the fact that now everything here is considered AU for the characters involved, and not considered part of their main timeline and characterization (which is now SG)

okay okay so:

- fianna is briar’s aunt anyway, but i can see them being really close since they’re so similar. fianna would visit all of the time growing up, and get giddy there was a mini her running around. i can also see fianna taking mia and holly under her wing too. holly because they’re arguably the most similar (fianna is a mix of briar and holly, but i feel like she leans more holly — plus, with reg, she’d want to look out for someone who could quite easily become swayed by their family’s beliefs) and mia because she’s essentially fee’s niece too.

- ruby and isabelle would also be really close; i can imagine isabelle being ruby’s friend in nyc when she drops in for work, and they go out together. i don’t know if they’d tell each other about their powers (why would they lol) but they frequently get into instances where one thinks something’s up with the other.

- i also think ruby and mia would get along? their powers are relatively similar, and their boyfriends are the same in different fonts lol. i think ruby is just the more self-assured version of mia lol. apart from that… honestly i think ruby would find all of my hp ocs annoying lmao. (but then, maybe that’s why she’d get along with mia so well)

- and, of course, fianna and emilia would get along SO well!! fianna is seen as sirius’ lil sister, and i think emilia would definitely adopt her too in that sense

In another world maybe

Koijika gazed blankly at the blade impaled in her stomach. It had been fun while it lasted. Which was never for long. Death had long been an acquaintance of hers. Although coming from behind was rather rude. But what was she expecting in a world such as this. Where morals and society were different from her home.

Not that she had a home anymore. Nor was this her first time in a version of this world. At least, this would not be the worse way to go.

It always seemed in universes where she travelled instead of reborn always ended tragically. Would she find one that was different?

There was a shout of her name. The person who impaled her yanked his weapon free. Koijika looked up. Meeting the spinning red eyes of her beloved.

Shisui was never fast enough when it mattered the most. The vivid image of her hanging off the blade of a sword. Eyes devoid of life. Screaming he reached out towards her.

Her head rose and met his gaze. A soft smile, the mouthing of the words. It’s okay.

Enemies on all sides, the man pulling his weapon free uncaring as she fell to the forest floor. Shisui saw red and flickered.

The forest was silent as the boy knelt beside the girl. Blood drenching them both. One unharmed, the other fading fast. The boy carefully cradled the girl in his lap. Calloused hands brushing the hair off of her face.

Red tears fell from the boy on to the girl’s pale skin. She smiled softly and wiped his cheek. “Your eyes. Don’t strain them. I don’t want you to remember this moment so clearly.”

The boy clasped her hand, shaking. “No, I can’t. I failed you.”

“You didn’t know.” Blood pooled around them. The girl caressed his face. “I’m sorry, my dear.”

Confusion washed over the boy’s face. “Why?” He whispered. She brushed her lips against his hand.

“Perhaps in another universe, we’ll get our happy ending.”

A wail filled the forest. And the boy was alone.

- this time d shagged a werewolf On Purpose (a fianna werewolf, specifically)

- the gen ross was a part of had lena (lion), robert (roboute) and possibly samuel (sanguinius)

- definitely a black spiral dancer

- horse was spitting out prophecies to robert’s oldest kid about ‘the original folly’ happening again (that being a werewolf following wyrm beings into the black spiral labyrinth to fight them), the kid was even younger than boy and didn’t realize what this meant till Uncle Ross Didn’t Come Home

- ross was specifically met by a certain black spiral dancer oc of mine who is Heavily Involved in d’s backstory (i headcanon d as immortal, but not as old as he seems; he was born in the late 1300s in rural greece). this bsd offered ross the information about werewolves that d wouldn’t tell him (as d made the mistake of not allowing ross with his mom’s pack after mama fianna wolf died), and this bsd also bated ross with info on how to fight the enemy the garou were against

- long story short, ross got black spiral dancer’d and tried to kill his siblings, causing one of them to awaken as a mage (and possibly d to vow to never sire another goddamn werewolf)

I was wondering if you can give some name ideas for a female werewolf character (gender neutral names are fine as well tho). I’m pretty bad when it comes to naming characters so blogs like yours help me alot and I appreciate them. I was planning on making her some type of (monster) hunter if that helps.

How does Caleb spend St Patricks?

Oh my goodness, that has soooooooooooooooo many answers to it depending on when in his life, which universe he's in, etc. Let me see what I can pin him down on for you!!!!

In his main canon 'verse:

as a child being raised by Ned and Nan, it always meant a crowded night at Old Neddy's. On her better days, Nan would cook - corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, soda bread, etc. - and share it with those who came. She and Caleb would take turns on the piano while Ruairi took up the bodhran, Saoirse her fiddle, and a couple of others with tin whistles or guitars while Ned kept the bar. After Nan's passing, it stays pretty much the same, though the cooking was done by others who brought it to the pub for them.

once Ned dies, the Reds as a whole pretty much stop celebrating (they've also got the war with the Greystones going on).

Caleb doesn't even think about the holiday again, really, until after he discovers Murph's pub/tavern on Arcturus Station (around the time he and Coats are at OCS). From then forward, if he's there for the holiday, he drops in for a pint, occasionally with friends [there is a oneshot I started last year I really need to finish...].

During the game years, Caleb again, doesn't think much of it - too many other things to focus on - but I like to think Ashley brought it to his attention at some point - just a beer, or maybe a cup of tea shared in the mess when they were off duty. Maybe with Kaidan watching from a distance, observing, filing it away for later use. Something he hadn't seen in the six years they'd known one another prior to the Normandy.

Post-war - I'm fairly certain post-war includes visits from The Irish People (tm) at the Alenko Orchard, and if it happens to be over St. Patrick's Day, all the better. Plenty of shenanigans to be had even in Canada. ;) [and trust me, with some of these Irish, Shenanigans, with a capital S, are not far behind! ;) ]

Now, in their Werewolf Effect universe, it's a little different. Caleb is Irish, yes. Kaidan even has an Irish connection - both through his mother and his particular werewolf Tribe, the Fianna. Now, the Fianna take their brew Very Seriously. Not only are they well known for their ability to drink it, but some of them also have a gift that allows them to make a very potent brew, too. (word to the wise: never enter a drinking contest (unless you are Garou, and even then, best be careful!) if the Fianna are in charge of the drinks! ;) Kaidan, however, does not have that gift, so no worries there. Still, he and Caleb (because Irish) do like to celebrate the holiday, but they usually don't have the time or inclination to get too carried away.

In their ME/WWII universe, I haven't quite sorted things out just yet (we're in late 1940 at the moment! lol). Still, Coats is around, and Kaidan (though of Ukrainian descent) likes his drink well enough, so I have no doubt they'd settle down at The Crown & Lion together for a pint and maybe a game of darts. If Reggie is in an obliging mood (it's difficult to tell some days! lol) he might even let them tune the wireless into some good Irish music, too.

Right now, that's about all i can think of at the moment. There are a couple other 'verses for them, but I'm not sure yet what's happening there, so ask me again next March 17th and we'll see if he's spoken up!

OH! And before I forget - As Luck Would Have It - the fic I'm collaborating with @happychica and @screwyouflightlieutenant on that we just started posting - is all about St. Patrick's Day in the town of Norman and Caleb will be there, soooooooo.... plenty of St. Patty's Hijinks to be had there! ;)
