i did not know that u also watch project scard! what do you think about the anime? 😆
It is...certainly a show that exists.
Yeah, I’m watching it but I’m not too impressed so far (I wouldn’t call it a hatewatch though, more like a...lolwatch). Tbh my distinct impression, which has not lessened as of episode three, is that GoHands finally figured out that no one wants to watch Handshakers so they decided to try and recreate their single actually successful franchise but just sorta smudged the details a bit. Right now Scard feels kinda like what would happen if you gave someone the basic premise of K and then passed it down the line in a game of telephone. Like so far we have several groups of people with magic powers, some of whom have fancy coats to wear, the ‘main’ group whose name begins with H have their headquarters in a ba--cafe and they’re dealing with the death of one of their members. There’s also a police force who wear fancy blue outfits and one of the main members is a gloomy boy who plays with knives.
And so far we have Totally Not Mikoto,
Totally Not Mini Totsuka,
and Totally Not Baby Kukuri.
Also the series so far and the OP in particular are absolutely chock full of animation that they took from K and as someone who has watched a lot of K it is very distracting.
(My other big complaint is that I feel like GoHands current house animation style is basically trying to imitate the coolness of K season one but on the cheap so instead of looking slick everything just looks...off. Like the first episode is all ‘we live in lawless zone of danger and poverty which is why the main character’s apartment is spaciously decorated complete with beautiful ambient lighting.’ The background opulence largely worked in K, with spaces like the fancy regal Scepter 4 or Kusanagi’s meticulously cared for bar or even Shiro’s ultra-modern apartment with the moving wallpaper, but it doesn’t match so well when you’re trying to convince me that these characters all live in a deadly lawless zone where only orphans and those with no choice find themselves stuck and unable to leave and also the furniture sales are just amazing I guess.)
#I don't know what distracts me more#the reused animation or the way too fancy backgrounds#plus you have stuff like episode one where apparently the main character and mini Totsuka are pinned and can't get home#but meanwhile not-Homra is fighting like four dudes#and the behind the characters there is literally nothing but vast open space#also Bar Homra >>> Scard Cafe whose name I already forgot#THE BOOKSHELVES#WHAT WAS UP WITH THE BOOKSHELVES#why did the cafe have weird skinny bookshelves and then normal bookshelves help#at this point the setting feels more like an excuse to not have to animate street pedestrians
