The inherent horror in the wolves having no choice in who they imprint on. It comes down by divine commandment and takes root in you, whether you--either of you--want it to or not. Is it worse to imagine that past loves don't matter, or that they do?
Do you love her right up until the minute, and then no more? Do you look back and wonder why you felt the way you did, running your hands through her straight, black hair, so similar to her cousin's?
Do you stay consumed by it, even as your genes demand allegiance to her daughter? Does some part of your heart remain unchanged, burning with an eternal flame it would kill both of you to touch?
IDK, just. Your body--if it can really be called your body--is built to serve, and as bad as that already is, you don't even get to choose who it serves. Your love, your master, this person who is also a victim, is chosen for you, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

soryu x m/c: first kiss
ok so y'all better like this i wrote this fic tWICe. but anyways, here's my first ever fic. enjoy.
You were at Soryu's penthouse, helping him organize some files from the Ice Dragons. He insisted you help because apparently "you're good at cleaning and inspecting things, so you were the best possible choice."
Ever since Baba pointed it out to you that he found you gawking at him whenever he saw you, you started realizing that you may or may not have a hardcore crush on him. Why wouldn't you though? He treated you with such gentleness and respect that you couldn't help but fall. However you were too scared to actually say something to him, so you decided to just admire him from a distance.
But little did you know, that a certain someone found you impossibly irresistible.
·
You found Soryu in the lobby after you had finished changing into your normal clothes. You skipped away to him, and he lead you to his penthouse.
The two of you had the same routine for a couple hours -take a sip of coffee and resume with the task at hand, until your back ached due to sitting in the same position for so long. You got up and stretched, unaware of your shirt riding up and that a pair of eyes found keen interest in the small of your back.
Yawning, you found yourself making way to the kitchen, trying to shake out the tiredness and to get something to eat. As soon as you got there, your eyes made contact with a pack of chips on a high shelf, and  your stomach grumbled.
"Alright, if that's what you want." You told your very hungry belly.
Stretching your 5 foot body as much as you could, you tried to reach the shelf but barely missed. With a huff you decided to climb up the counter, and ungracefully placed a leg on the counter. But before you could actually climb up, you heard a snicker from behind you and froze.
"Ahem. You need some help?"
You turned around, one leg still on the counter and your face similar to a kid that was just caught with their hand in a cookie jar.
With the last shreds of dignity that remained within you, you stated "No, i can help my self."
"Whatever you say _______." He replied, words laced with sarcasm, and face graced with a smirk.
You turned away from him and climbed up the shelf and grabbed the packet of chips. You let your cockiness get to you, and jumped and stuck your tongue out at him. And karma decided to hit you at that particular moment, because you lost your footing and slipped. You squeezed your eyes shut, preparing to kiss the cold hard ground, but you never did.
Instead, you found yourself engulfed with soft fabric and startled breaths.
You opened your eyes, only to find Soryu looking up at you with what could only be concern.
You looked down, embarrassed, and his grip on you became tighter.
"Uh, thankyou." You whispered, and looked up.
His steely greys were looking at you with such intensity that you couldn't bring yourself to look down.
Both of you stared at each other as though your life depended on it, until Soryu muttered a curse and decided to attach his lips onto yours.
Before you could ever register what had happened, he pulled away.
"I- I apologize. I didn't know what I was thinking."
He put you down almost immediately, and one of his hands found its way to his neck.
You both looked at each other, and you couldn't control yourself anymore.
You tiptoed and latched your lips onto his, but he stood frozen. You were about to back off, thinking you read his actions wrong, but then he wrapped his arms around you and kissed you back.
You sighed into the kiss and pulled away to take a breath, and his arms released your waist, only to grip your thighs. He told you to jump, and you obediently did.
His lips left yours for a second, only to come back but you stopped him by gently pushing his chest.
"Wait, Soryu, um. I know this isn't exactly the most ideal time to tell you this bu-" You abruptly stopped rambling as soon as Soryu started to place kisses all over your face.
"Okay. As much as I like this, I'll have to stop you. I'm trying to be serious here." He did stop peppering kisses on your face but now his head found home in the crook of your neck.
"Look. I-I really like you. Like, I like you a lot. And the thing is, I've just gotten hurt a lot, so I wanna know if this is going to end up with me getting hurt all over again."
"______, I cannot promise you that this won't hurt you. But I'll tell you this. You've caught my eye ever since the day you walked into the penthouse that night, and I find myself getting attracted to you a little more everyday. And honestly? I'm ready to risk everything if it means I can be with you." Soryu whispered, and you could feel your heart leap and do a cartwheel.
Your hands wrapped themselves around his neck and you kissed him, pouring out all your feelings into the kiss.
You could feel him smile on your lips, and subconsciously you did too. Breaking the kiss, you leaned your forehead on his, and rubbed your noses, and Soryu knew that you would be the death of him. A precious death, nonetheless.
You smiled shyly and felt him hug you tighter.
The bag of chips, long forgotten.
A/N:so this sucked.
ok so initially this was gonna be all the bidders but eh i got lost™ in Soryu. might come back and add the others some day. drop down your suggestions and thoughts. also after rereading this, i can tell that i end sentenced pReTty abruptly so haha gotta go work on that

A Voice Message || Joshua || Oneshot
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1274
Genre: angst, oneshot
Summary: His voicemail might have swayed you a bit, piquing at your curiosity but the truth still remained the same. You didn’t love him.
It was a good day. The sun was shining; a light breeze blew through every once in a while keep to things cool and not too hot. Summer meant no more school for a while but it also meant jobs and internships. They were both going well. Surprisingly. You had expected the worse—long days, unreasonable bosses, annoying coworkers. You had none of that. Everyone was polite, understanding, and generally fun to be around (not that you would hang out with them outside of work). You looked forward to going into work and you learned a lot in your internship. More than a good day, it was overall a great start to your summer.
That is, until you received the voice message.
You looked the caller ID and nearly dropped your phone. Your heart swelled and quickly hollowed, sinking as you reread the ID. You pursed your lips and took a seat on the benches once you had reached the bus stop. You pressed the message and put your phone against your ear.
“Hey…how are you? Mm…I don’t know why I called you but…when we see each other againno. Never mind. Bye.”
You frowned, your shoulders slumping and you removed your phone from your ear before listening to the disappointing voice message again. Every time you pressed it, you would find yourself unconsciously stiffening at his voice. It was smooth and soothing as always. There was a nervous edge to his voice that you still found adorable (much to your dismay). You played the message over and over again, unsure what to make of it until the bus pulled up. You were still listening to it as you stepped onto the bus and paid your fees.
You were about to make your way to the back when you looked up, eyes widening when you found the person you least expected sitting in the back.
Joshua sat there, his head against the edge of the window as he watched the first few drops of rain settling against the glass. He lifted a hand, tracing the beads. His headphones were over his ears and he made the bus look like a set out of a music video. He hadn’t noticed you and you were hoping he wouldn’t as you scurried to a seat.
The bus started moving again with a jerk and you pursed your lips, looking forward and not turning back. What was he doing here? He had move away while you were out of the country. You hadn’t expected him to be here. You had been back for several weeks with the peaceful thought that you would never run into your ex-boyfriend again. But here he was. In the back of the bus. Looking sad and gloomy.
Your stop came before his. You got off the bus in a hurry, nearly tripping over yourself and definitely fumbling. The sky was a clouded gray and you let out a yelp as the raindrops fell on your head. You glanced up at the sky as the raindrops hit your face and sighed in annoyance. You glanced back at the bus as it began to drive away and you groaned, holding your hands above your head as you began to jog towards the crosswalk.
You stood there, waiting for the light to hurry and turn green. Your apartment was just across the street. If you got there fast enough you wouldn’t get too drench. It wasn’t looking too good though. The rain that was a sprinkle previously began to come down harder and heavier.
“Seriously,” you murmured. It was summer. Why was it raining?
The light failed to turn green even a few moments later. Had this light always taken so long? You were contemplating running to the nearest shop and just hanging out there until you dried or until the rain cleared up when it suddenly stopped. But…it didn’t. The drops still fell in front of you but you weren’t getting pelted with the rain anymore.
You lowered your hands and looked up at the umbrella before looking at the owner with wide eyes.
Joshua stared ahead, his ears tinged pink. He glanced over at you, hurriedly looking away. “I-I’ll walk you to where you need to go…this is my only umbrella and I probably won’t see you again. I don’t want to spend money on another one.”
You opened your mouth to respond but the light turned green and Joshua urged you to walk forward.
The two of you walked down the street silently, passing by people who threw envious glances your way. You tried to convince yourself that they were doing this because they didn’t have an umbrella. They were not staring at you because you two looked like a couple.
“You should come closer,” Joshua’s voice broke the rain-filled silence.
You glanced at him.
“Wouldn’t want you to get wet,” he said.
You stepped in closer as he said and you looked over again. He said that, but his own shoulder was getting wet. “You can step closer too.”
“What?”
“Your shoulder is getting all wet.”
Joshua glanced at his shoulder and pursed his lips, his ears turning redder as he stepped closer again.
“So,” Joshua cleared his throat, “How’ve you been?”
“Is staying silent too awkward?” you joked, smiling when Joshua let out a nervous chuckle. “Pretty good. I’ve learned a lot of stuff. How about you?”
“I missed you.”
You looked over at Joshua, “Wh—“
“This is your apartment, right?” Joshua stopped in front of a building, looking through the doors and then up at the building. He smiled as he walked you up the stairs and stepped back once you were under the shelter. “I’ll see you…hah, wait. No I won’t. Uh, alright. Bye.”
“Joshua wait,” you called out to him and he stopped turning back to look at you. “Did you just…say you missed me?”
Joshua stared at you like a deer caught in headlights. His eyes slowly lowered to the wet pavement and he pursed his lips, smiling nervously, his shoulders shrugging. “That…doesn’t matter…anymore.”
“Josh—“
“Ah, I’m going to go. I’ll try to take the bus at a different time or something,” Joshua mumbled, turning and walking away.
You bit at your lip and then ran after him, grabbing his shoulder and forcing him to stop. Joshua turned to look at you and you paused. “Do you…want to go up to my apartment and talk about it?”
Joshua looked hopeful for a second but then he smiled. “Y/N…there isn’t anything to talk about.”
“There…is though?”
“No…no, there isn’t. You broke up with me and it wasn’t just because you were moving away,” Joshua said, his eyes fluttering to the pavement before looking back up at you. “If you don’t like me don’t give me false hope. I want to get back together. I don’t want to be friends.”
You stared at him, your throat closing and your mouth dry.
“So…nothing?”
You nodded.
Joshua smiled again and nodded his head. “Bye, Y/N. Also, I’m sorry I called you earlier. That was…a mistake.”
As you watched Joshua walk down the street, farther away from you, you felt the urge to call him back. You wanted to hug him and tell you that you were sorry but you didn’t. Your feet didn’t even want to move. Your heart didn’t ache like it was supposed to. You were just glad that interaction was over. It just felt like you had run into an old friend. Someone you hadn’t talked to in awhile. And he was right. He still loved you but you…you never even hesitated to break up with him.
