Turk Omegaverse Headcanons Part Two
Characters: Veld, Tseng, Rufus Or the three that got this ball rolling. A little more of a story than an actual headcannons post. TW/CW: Teen pregnancy, mentions of termination, implied physical abuse, Shinra Senior being a POS, swearing bc why not, mentions of birth control
Veld
Of all the things he expected out of Tseng, the one that the alpha did NOT expect was the younger alpha telling him he’d gotten an omega pregnant at sixteen.
After debating whether or not to strangle Tseng, he decided that the young alpha could use a little less scolding and a little more guidance.
His first item of business was figuring out who the poor omega was, and if they were at least close to Tseng in age.
Upon figuring out who it was… Tseng’s sudden request to be transferred to Junon made a lot more sense.
Tseng
Tseng used protection. Let’s start off there.
Tseng was super careful and this was by no means his first time helping Rufus out with his heat cycles.
They were both being careful, given that Rufus was fifteen, Tseng was sixteen. Being fifteen, Rufus was too young to legally be on hormonal birth control so condoms and spermicidal lube it is.
That… obviously didn’t work.
Tseng’s first reaction is to try and get Veld to transfer him from Midgar to Junon, given that around the same time, President Shinra exiled Rufus to Junon.
Tseng was at first pretty shocked, I mean, he’s a sixteen year old alpha, but he thought he had been incredibly safe every time.
Rufus
To start with, Rufus was already getting his ass exiled to Junon. That wasn’t even related to the pregnancy at first. It was simply his dad found out about him funding Elfe and Avalanche to screw him over. The unexpected pregnancy was just the icing on the cake and nail in the coffin.
Plan A was demanding Rufus terminate. Sure, abortions are more than a little illegal to omegas without the consent of their alpha, but Rufus was fifteen and it wouldn’t be anywhere close to the shadiest shit Shinra had pulled.
Rufus of course, refused to terminate the pregnancy and that got him kicked in the abdomen and left on the floor of the office curled up in the fetal position. In that moment, he wasn’t the cocky vice president who was pretending to be an alpha in the public eye; he was a terrified omega acting on instinct to protect the unborn pup.
He ended up having a little girl in Junon, just happy that his mate could be there for the pup’s birth.
He and Tseng decided (maybe a little stupidly) to have a second pup two-ish years later, and having two pups in less than three years was incredibly stressful on Rufus’ reproductive system since he wasn’t actually old enough to be having pups safely.
He was a little cocky since he got away from the first pup unscathed. The second was a tiny preemie born six weeks early and caused a myriad of reproductive concerns that left it pretty difficult for Rufus to have anymore pups after his two daughters.
And you can bet your buttons that Shinra Senior was an ass about it, being pissed that Rufus had two granddaughters and not one single heir. He didnt’t care if one of these female pups came up to be an alpha, Shinra needed to be passed on to a male alpha in his eyes, which Rufus called bullshit on.
Rufus was just a happy mama of two sweet little girls, and as was Tseng. In that moment, the tough Turk and bratty Vice President were the proud parents of Emma and Elena.

Trial of Position
As he went through the startup procedure on his Viper, Cadet Jehan let his mind drift back to his briefing.
“The Warden cause has lost, and Clan Ghost Bear has successfully trialed for a place in Operation: Revival” His Ursari had told him. “Your Sibko will be the last to graduate in time for a place in our triumphant return to Terra.”
He remembered the thrill those words had sent through him as he shivered in the cold morning air.
“As such, we are doing something for your Trial of Position.” He had carefully controlled his response to that as she went one. “You and your fellows will be undergoing them in the Tseng-Jorgensson Training Ground, on the southern continent here on Strana Mechty.” He knew the area, they had performed several exercises there after arriving on the planet. Twenty-five square kilometers of mixed tundra and boreal forest, dotted with lakes that would be frozen at this time of year.
“As usual, you will undergo the trail with another cadet. You will both start at opposite ends of the training ground. Three opponents will await each of you, to be fought in sequence. Their positions will be marked as nav points.”
She had leaned in close for her final pronouncement.
“Do well, Cadet, and there will be a place in Operation Revival for you.”
Now, the fusion reactor was humming beneath him, the battle computer announcing in a monotone voice that the reactor was online, the sensors were online, the weapons were online. All systems were nominal.
He checked the readouts manually anyway, then confirmed his weapons groupings. His ‘mech was configured in the Prime variant, with two medium pulse lasers, a four tube srm pod, and twin .50 calibre machine guns. A lighter loadout than most Omnimechs in it’s weight category, but it made up for it with speed and armour.
He eased the throttle forward, carrying the ‘mech out of the hangar and into the swirling snow. That would complicate things.
He glanced down at the map screen with it’s wire-frame topography and marked nav points, manipulating the view with his free hand. His own opponents, according to the Nav were in a rough semi-circle, spaced around a kilometer and three quarters apart, the closest being about 2 kilometers away to the west north-west, his hangar being at the southern end of the training zone.
Visibility was considerably lower than that. He set off into the snow, slowly at first, then picking up the pace as he grew used to the uncertain footing. Here and there he could see what was either low hills or deep drifts, and he resolved to avoid them.
The wide dog-leg he took of his first opponent took him into the trees, and he came in on the Nav from the North.
His first opponent was in a clearing. He didn’t recognize the burly-looking build, and the drifting snow meant his battle computer was unable to get an idea, but it was obvious that the main threat was the missile pod up on the right shoulder. It was big for a light ‘Mech, twelve or fifteen tubes at least.
He carefully settled his targetting caret on it, and then toggled his comms to the open band.
“This is Cadet Jehan, piloting the Viper Prime. I offer challenge to the Warrior in the light ‘Mech at Nav Point Alpha.”
He shifted his direction of travel to pass behind the other ‘mech, twisting the torso to keep his weapons trained on the missile pod and watched the rangefinder.
The numbers were blinking in and out, the snow interfering with the lidar. But it seemed to be about 300 meters. He slammed his throttle open to full, accelerating to his maximum speed of almost 130 kilometers an hour. Powder flew up behind him in a swirl, and he felt his mech stagger and slip before recovering.
“This is Warrior Edgar, in the Howler at Nav Alpha. Challenge Accepted. In this solemn matter let no man interfere.”
The Howler was turning to the source of the transmission, to meet Jehan’s charge, but slowly, so slowly.
Before it could bring it’s targetting systems to bear, the range was under 250 meters, and Jehan opened up with his SRMs and his pulse lasers.
One missile hit the right arm.
One tracked up and hit the side of the missile pod, and then the lasers did the same.
The whole right side of the Howler collapsed, armour, arm, missile pod.
The battle computer was showing an entry for it now, and the only weapons had been the missile pod.
“Your weapon systems are disabled. I offer hegira.” Jehan transmitted on the open comm.
“Accepted. Do not think your next opponent will be so taken in.” Edgar’s voice was filled with anger and frustration. “I will not forget this, Cadet.”
Jehan made sure his comm channel was closed and then let out a short bark of laughter, before turning towards the next opponent.

HOWLING VALLEY VINTON CLAN HOMEWORLDS 8 NOVEMBER 3047
The night sky of Vinton's northern continent was exceptionally clear. Stars were not only visible, but appeared to fill the heavens like iridescent grains of sand. Rose's Shadow Cat was nestled into a crack in the canyon's sloped wall, its upper body nosed out just enough to let her sensors scan the area. And enough to give her an incredible view.
MechWarrior Rose had never seen a sky like this. She was used to the nearly opaque clouds of Bearclaw, where she had spent her whole life before this tour of duty began. Even on Paxon, Rose had only seen pink daytime skies. The Ghost Bear 68th Striker Cluster had been engaged in training exercises prior to their departure for Vinton; Rose had spent nights on Paxon in the barracks or carousing with her starmates in the covered promenade in Thermopolis.
A soft blip in her ear and a faint point on her tactical display alerted Rose that her active probe was picking up a fusion engine beginning its warm-up cycle. She activated her radio to send a tightbeamed message to her Star's commanding officer, Star Captain Stunner Tseng, in his Mad Dog tucked away in another niche just a few dozen meters up the canyon. "Star Captain, the Smoke Jaguars are readying to move. I see one, now two units firing up."
"Affirmative." Tseng offered no further acknowledgment. He had always been taciturn in the field. Rose knew that he was now sending a low-power confirmation signal to Bravo Striker Star. Star Commander Noelle would meet the Jaguars on the field, but well ahead of the Jaguars' anticipated site for the conflict, giving the second-line 'Mechs of Bravo Striker the advantage. Once the Jaguars' second star began nearing the fight, Alpha Ranger Star would power up, sweep up the canyon to a washout that granted access to the ridgeline road, and strike the Jaguars from the rear.
In the night sky, a beacon was suddenly lit. Was it a DropShip's engines? No, it was unmoving. Rose realized it was the Theta Phyxidis nova beginning its flare period. An eager merchant on Paxon had told her about the event, only visible every seventeen years or so, which was celebrated locally with a week-long festival. At the time, Rose had dismissed it as lower-caste foolishness. Now, alone in her powered-down cockpit, she could see how one might get caught up in the romanticism of it. It would be even more brilliant on Paxon than on the more distant Vinton.
The Jaguar Star had fully powered up. It took several moments for her probe to sort out their models and configurations, cycling through multiple possibilities before settling on a final determination: Lynx C, Stormcrow A, Nova B, Griffin IIC, and Ebon Jaguar Prime. The 'Mechs made good speed up the ridgeline road, approaching Alpha Ranger's hiding spot none the wiser. Rose sent the data to Tseng and waited for the second Star of 'Mechs to appear on her display, but the screen continued to show no further units. Only when the Jaguar Star passed directly overhead did Rose understand: the second Star was a full Star of Elementals, each Point hitching a ride on a 'Mech. That had been what had briefly confused her sensors.
"Star Captain, every one of those 'Mechs is loaded with Elementals," she tightbeamed. "Bravo Striker will be overwhelmed while they wait for us to arrive."
Tseng's reply was immediate. "Just the data, Warrior; leave the tactical analysis to your commanders."
"Aff, Star Captain."
"But I agree with your assessment." Tseng switched to the regular radio on the Star's frequency. "Alpha Ranger, we are moving early. Form up on me. We will intercept the Jaguars on the ridge. Bravo Striker will reinforce us. Sending tactical data now."
Rose recognized her cue and instructed her tactical computer to share its information with the rest of the Star. Then she engaged the engine power-up sequence and watched her HUD cycle go through its boot cycle.
Tseng's Mad Dog finished coming to full power at the same time as Rose's Shadow Cat. She stepped into place beside him and a little back, echelon right formation. Aster's Crossbow A, Deman's Conjurer, and Susan's Ice Ferret B followed suit. Rose loved the Shadow Cat's low-slung lope, its hunter's stride, weapons high and ready. She loved seeing her starmates to either side, loved the beauty of the formation before battle broke its measured lines.
The engines' signals had caught the Jaguars' attention. They were beginning to turn about to face Alpha Striker. Tseng's voice crackled through the radio. "Susan, Aster, make for that washout. I will be right behind you. Rose, Deman, bring up the rear and keep an eye on those Elementals. If they begin hopping off their rides, jump to the ridge and hold them in place as best you can. Let us keep their attention until Bravo Striker arrives."
"Aff, Star Captain," Rose said in chorus with her starmates.
Susan spoke up. "I wager the next round of drinks that I will take two points by myself before Bravo Star gets here."
"Keep it down, cubs," Tseng said, affably.
Rose settled her fingers on her triggers and grinned in anticipation.
++++++++++
The Shadow Cat wasn't heavy enough to completely crush the final Elemental warrior under its foot. Two squeezes of the laser interlock finished the job. HarJel poured in vain over the empty space where the warrior's upper torso had been. Sparks fell from a short in the Cat's active probe, showering through its rent cowling to sizzle in the black mess below.
Deman's Conjurer lay peeled open, a victim of the powered infantry's quick work; four Elemental corpses lay in the wreckage of the second-line 'Mech. Though given just how tough Elemental warriors were, perhaps dismissing them as dead was a foolish conclusion. Deman himself had been dragged out of his cockpit and torn apart. Rose didn't let herself think about it. File it as an honorable death and move on.
Next target. The Nova and Griffin IIC had leaped down into the canyon and were harassing Tseng. As was expected from combined-arms combat (and from Jaguars in general), zellbrigen had been a formality that had been quietly and hastily ushered off the field. Both 'Mechs peppered the Mad Dog with fire, trying to keep Tseng pincered between them. But he was wily and knew how to use the terrain to his advantage.
A shriek of anger snapped Rose's attention to the remainder of her Star. The Stormcrow and Ebon Jaguar were both focusing their fire on Aster's Crossbow; it was already missing both arms. Susan loped her Ice Ferret into the fray, SRMs firing as fast as they would cycle, blind to the enemy Lynx closing on her flank.
Tseng could handle himself. Aster and Susan were less seasoned and had fallen into a trap. Not that I am any more battle-hardened than they, Rose thought. They needed Rose's help more than her commander did.
Rose pushed her Shadow Cat to flanking speed and ran for the fracas. She twisted slightly, alpha striking into the Lynx's already damaged right torso without slowing her pace. The superstructure of the entire torso-hip assembly melted away, and the engine flared before engaging emergency shutdown, crumpling the 'Mech into an immobile pile of limbs on the ground. She kept running, turning now to fire another Gauss slug into the Stormcrow, crushing its LRM launcher.
Rose snapped her radio to wide-band. "Pilot of the Ebon Jaguar, I am Warrior Rose of Clan Ghost Bear, and I challenge you to single combat."
All firing stopped. The Ebon Jaguar twisted to face Rose, moving like a living thing. They're good, whoever they are, Rose thought.
"Very well, brave little bear cub," the pilot replied. The Stormcrow began stepping back. After a moment's hesitation, Aster limped her Crossbow to the side, and Susan followed suit. Not quite a Circle of Equals, but good enough.
Rose opened the Shadow Cat's throttle and took off running on a slanted approach vector. The Ebon Jaguar let off a full salvo. An autocannon slug caught her 'Mech's left shoulder, damaging the actuator. Laser fire stitched up one leg, and the Gauss round slammed into the other, but the missiles went wide. Rose fired her lasers, barely aiming; she was counting seconds and tracking the enemy pilot's own tracking of Rose. The torso stayed locked onto Rose's approach, but the arms were a little slower in following. That meant the pilot was focusing on obtaining a missile lock over aiming their direct-fire weapons. Or so Rose was betting. Her life was the ante for that wager.
...two, one, now! The moment Rose figured the heavy weapons had cycled on the Ebon Jaguar, she dug in with one leg, pushed off to the side, punched her jump jets, and streaked into the air on a plume of blue plasma. Her juke worked, and ammunition flew fruitlessly beneath her. She wasn't entirely lucky; half the flight of LRMs and both SRMs connected with her legs as she flew, stripping the remainder of the armor and damaging a foot actuator. Rose's landing was rough, but she wrenched herself upright through sheer will. There was the Ebon Jaguar's untouched rear armor, begging to be attended.
The Gauss round flew first, tearing into the Ebon Jaguar's left torso and setting off the LRM ammunition stored within. The lasers went into the center torso and scored deep gouges in the 'Mech's engine shielding. The enemy pilot tried to turn their right side to face Rose and bring their own Gauss rifle to bear, but the Shadow Cat was inside the rifle's minimum range. Rose easily slid under the shot and went back to work on the enemy 'Mech's exposed rear. Two more pulls of the laser interlock trigger, and the Ebon Jaguar went down.
Riding high on adrenaline, Rose turned to face the Stormcrow. As she activated her mic to issue another challenge, however, another voice came through on the radio. "Bravo Striker is here, Star Captain. Ready to receive target assignations."
Sure enough, there was Bravo Star coming down the ridgeline road, pristine and looking to raise hell. The Stormcrow thought better of taking on seven 'Mechs at once and signaled the power-down of its weapons.
After a few moments, Star Captain Tseng came through on the radio. "Bravo Striker, the enemy has surrendered. The Elemental manufacturing facility is ours." He was out of breath, and static interference from what was likely a damaged engine threatened to overwhelm his radio, but he was still alive.
The lead 'Mech of Bravo Star, a Rifleman IIC, stepped forward to survey the field. Star Commander Noelle let out a low whistle. "You have left nothing for us, Alpha Ranger. What are we supposed to do here? Take potshots at birds?"
Rose finally relaxed her grip on her sticks and let herself slump in her command couch. "You could always indulge in a little stargazing, Star Commander," she said. "Theta Phyxidis is lovely tonight."

Alto please you're making me think of what Seph would be like with Reno as a couple and i think it's kinda cute-
Do you have any headcanons about them?? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Reno, being Reno, is loud, rowdy, blunt, and basically a snide little shit looking for trouble. Sephiroth is controlled, stoic, aloof, and is always two seconds away from killing something.
Basically, a disaster couple.
It becomes very, VERY obvious early on that despite the fact that Sephiroth is twice his size, Reno is NOT going to let him alpha male him. Reno is the one running the show, NOT Sephiroth. And Sephiroth is going to have to deal with it.
Sephiroth...honestly finds that kind of hot.
Reno smokes, drinks, and swears like a sailor pretty much all day long, something Sephiroth finds distasteful but again, kind of hot.
Because Reno refuses to work overtime, he's often great at convincing Sephiroth to dump his paperwork and go out on the town for some actual fun.
Sephiroth has to hang around with the other Turks by default, sticking out like a sore thumb but tolerating the company so he can see Reno. He likes Rude and Elena well enough, though he and Tseng are still glaring at each other from across the table.
Reno has stolen Masamune multiple times using bf privilege and has probably caused a lot of destruction to property as a result.
Reno's favorite hobby is getting Sephiroth flustered.
Sephiroth has openly and flatly declared that Reno is a massive brat and a troublemaker. Also, YES, kind of hot.

Day 2 (April 17th 2024) Rating: 7.3/10
Sleep hours (the previous night): 4.5 hours
Hello everyone!
Today was once again another long and busy day. I guess I should start at midnight. After I did my toner pads, I went to Sproul Landing and studied for an hour or two before heading back to the dorm to sleep. I am a morning person so I am not quite used to the late night activities. I went to sleep at around 3 and I woke up at 7:30. As previously mentioned, I always start my day off with my skincare. I packed my bag and headed to BPlate where I had agreed to meet my fellow pledge sister Ms. Celine Tseng. I ate a plate of scrambled eggs, and potatoes, and had a delicious waffle with the BPlate signature chocolate butter. Then, we headed to the Kerkoff patio to meet with our other pledge brothers and sisters. I had Chemistry 14D Discussion and Lecture and then went straight to my LS7C discussion where I met with my pod to work on our assignment for the day. Straight after I rushed to Westwood for work and surfed the web to help accumulate data. I got out early and left with my coworker to the hill. I had an interview with an active at 5:30 and we also ate ramen and had somi somi for dessert. Now, our Alpha Xi class has a formal dinner with the Alpha Nu class at BPlate, so I am going to head over and afterward finish up some homework. So far, the day has been super fun and eventful but definitely tiring due to the lack of sleep.

Hey look, the final bit of the canon-compliant “Cloud is the remnants carrier” verse I can do before Part 2 of the remake comes out.
I definitively will be writing more of this verse generally but nothing confirmed tied to the main storyline of it until we know more what the canon is doing.
(Also, yes, Rufus is an alpha in the main storyline, unlike what he is when I’m playing around with Advent Children timeline stuff)
Tags: omegaverse, mpreg
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/24142861/chapters/85452019
“How are you settling in Mister President?” Tseng knows how good it makes Rufus feel to hear that. How long he’s been waiting for this moment. Likely the reason the Turk keeps addressing him by it even after it is no longer needed in the conversation.
“Well enough.” The President’s office still looks like his father’s and Rufus has only just started reading through the documents he previously was not allowed access to. Both situations are being resolved in short order. “You have something to report?”
“Yes,” Tseng says with a neat, respectful head-dip. He respects Rufus’ authority implicitly. Unlike the other Department Heads that still need convincing. “About the SOLIDER that was with Avalanche.”
“Let me guess – he wasn’t a SOLDIER.” Rufus had suspected as much as soon as he picked up the omega’s scent. Shinra would never have let an omega become SOLDIER. Certainly not one so attractive.
“Yes, Mister President,” Tseng says. “There is no records of an omega ever being made a SOLDIER.”
“So where did he gain the Mako from?” The omega had a SOLDIER’s eyes and a SOLDIER’s strength despite his more delicate form. Where would they have come from if not SOLDIER?
It would be dangerous if another group had discovered how to replicate the process.
“We are still investigating,” Tseng says. “However, there is another fact in relation to it you should be aware of.”
“And that is?”
“Children, Mister President, three of them. They were with the Ancient when I collected her. All with silver hair.”
Sephiroth’s than. Which could explain the Mako of the omega. It would certainly make things interesting if it was transferable in those means.
“How old?” Rufus certainly wouldn’t question the General’s taste if he had found an attraction in that omega. With people involved though one must be sure.
“Six months at most,” Tseng says.
And Sephiroth had been dead for years. Hojo had cracked quite the tantrum about it and the Shinra Company had had to pay out a fair bit to cover it all up.
It looks like they will have to review the reports of what happened in the aftermath of the events at Nibelheim closely. And the circumstances surrounding Zack Fair’s death – an item already on the agenda.
“Does anyone else know about them?”
“No, Mister President. Just me as far as I am aware.” Tseng knows as well as Rufus the possible implications of it. And the possible repercussions should it become public. And his Turk had waited for Rufus to make the call of how best it should be managed.
“Good. Keep it that way.” It is always best to keep cards like that close to one’s chest. And they needed to know a lot more before it would be wise to act.
Sephiroth himself might even be alive. Although it is more likely that Hojo is responsible for the children’s existence – how frustrated he must be to have lost them and the omega.
Rufus can’t help but laugh at the situation.
“What’s funny Mister President?”
“I knew that omega would be interesting.” For something so pretty to end up with Avalanche he had to be.
Rufus certainly looks forward to their next meeting.

DELUN LIN is a muse that i’ve never actually roleplayed until recently ( previously @cheontae ) but he’s had been in development for almost FOURTEEN years now. i finally gathered the courage to make him but i was still rather COWARDLY because delun was initially supposed to be FEMALE but i didn’t want to ruin my chances of people writing with him so i changed his gender ( i went from wrong nationality to the correct one ; hopefully, the next time i revamp this muse, it’ll be the correct gender ). but he holds a special place in my heart simply because i’ve had delun for so long
ODESSA TSENG is a muse i made while i was in the TEEN WOLF fandom ( her old blog is @maidenwithawarriorsheart ). it was kinda a fuck you to jeff davis for ruining derek hale’s relationships so much each season. my friend ( i’m no longer in contact with him ) and i decided to diverge from canon and actually give derek a proper and healthy relationship and ODESSA was made. we built from ground up and moulded odessa into the plot of teen wolf ( according to tw lore, odessa is actually an omega due to lack of pack but she had the capabilities of becoming an alpha if she tried ). she holds a place in my heart because i’ve had her for a long time coming and well, she’s just special to me.

Avocado Helps Reverse Metabolic Syndrome
Avocado Helps Reverse Metabolic Syndrome
Avocado Helps Reverse Metabolic Syndrome
by Case Adams, realnatural.orgMay 4, 2017 07:47 PM
Continuing medical research is proving that avocado (Persea Americana) provides one of the most effective ways to naturally reverse or prevent metabolic syndrome.
What is metabolic syndrome? It is one or a combination of related conditions: Cardiovascular disease, poor cholesterol levels, obesity, and/or diabetes.
Wow, that’s a big task for something that grows on trees and tastes great. Avocados grow throughout the world. And they are readily available at most grocery stores, restaurants and other food venues.
Avocado consumption most likely began in South and Central America, where the tree is indigenous. Today, avocado trees grow throughout North and South America, Australia, Pacific Islands, Europe, Asia and Africa. The tree can grow very large, reaching 100 feet in some regions. A single avocado can weigh from a couple of hundred grams to a full pound (453 grams) in some cases.
A nutrient dense food
The avocado is tasty, but it is also nutrient dense. It’s fat content is primarily monounsatured, at 15 grams for a medium avo. A medium avo also contains a healthy 9 grams of fiber. Avos also contain niacin, vitamin E, vitamin A, B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folate, and choline), betaine, vitamin C and vitamin K1. Avos also contain a fair amount of minerals such as copper, magnesium and some zinc. Yea, nutrient dense is right.
But the secret of avocado’s nutritional content lies in its more subtle phytonutrients. These include:
• Tocopherols: alpha-tocopherol, beta-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol, delta-tocopherol • Carotenoids: alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, lutein, beta-cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin • Phenols: hydroxybenzoic acids, hydrocinnamic acids, rutin, resveratrol, coumarins, tannic acid • Phytosterols/phytostanols: beta-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, beta-sitostanol, campestanol, stigmastanol • Complex sugars: D-mannoheptulose, perseitol
This complex combination of phytochemicals and healthy fats gives avocados the ability to:
• Reduce triglycerides • Reduce LDL-cholesterol • Improve artery health • Lower blood sugar • Help reduce weight • Reduce insulin resistance • Reduce risks of strokes and heart attacks
We’ve also shown the evidence that avocados are anti-cancer.
Let’s take a quick look at the evidence for how avos reduce metabolic syndrome:
Avocados reduce triglycerides and bad cholesterol
A number of studies have shown that avocados reduce bad cholesterol levels.
A 2015 study from Penn State University and the University of South Australia studied 45 overweight people. They were split up into three groups and given different diets, including one group receiving a diet that included a daily avocado. The avo diet significantly reduced LDL-cholesterol and decreased LDL particle number.
A 1995 study from Mexico found that a daily avocado reduced LCL-cholesterol and increased HDL-cholesterol. It also reduced triglycerides.
A 1996 study tested 37 adults with high cholesterol levels and high triglycerides. A seven-day diet with avocados resulted in a 22 percent reduction in triglycerides, and a 22 percent reduction in LDL-cholesterol. HDL-cholesterol levels also increased by 11 percent.
A 1992 study from Australia on 15 healthy women found that 3 weeks of a diet containing avocadoes significantly reduced LDL-cholesterol and increased HDL-cholesterol. The avo diet also reduced apolipoprotein B levels as well.
Another 1992 study tested 16 healthy people for two weeks. Those given the high avo diet saw reductions in triglycerides and LDL-cholesterol. The researchers concluded:
“Avocado is an excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acid in diets designed to avoid hyperlipidemia without the undesirable effects of low-saturated fat diets on HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations.”
Avocado helps control weight
A 2005 study from Ohio State University studied 11 people who were overweight. In two crossover studies, the researchers found that adding one avocado to their diets for six weeks resulted in reduced body weight, GMI and body fat percentage.
Animal studies also showed avocados contain anti-obesity effects.
Avocado helps control diabetes
A 2015 study on 26 overweight adults found that a half avocado daily decreased insulin resistance and reduced blood sugar levels and glucagon-like peptide-1.
A 2013 study tested 17,567 people in the U.S. Avocado consumption reduced post-meal insulin levels, indicating an increase in insulin sensitivity. Avocados also reduced post-meal hunger in regular avo eaters.
This study also concluded that regular avocado consumption significantly reduced the risk of metabolic syndrome.
A 2011 study on managing diabetes on Togo found that traditional healers used avocados to reduce type 2 diabetes symptoms.
A 1994 study on 12 women with type 2 diabetes also confirmed this. After four weeks, the researchers found the avocado-rich diet improved glycemic control.
A number of animal studies have confirmed these effects.
The heart healthy avocado
The conclusion is clear. Avocado is heart-healthy. A 2013 study from UCLA found that avocado exerts an anti-inflammatory effect upon blood vessels. Within three hours of consumption, 68 grams of avocado reduced the NF-kappa beta inflammatory pathway and other signs of artery inflammation.
The combination of avocado’s ability to reduce triglycerides and LDL-cholesterol and reduce blood glucose levels through greater insulin response automatically means that avocado is heart-healthy. This is because these elements all contribute to a greater damage to blood vessels. They produce what is called lipid peroxidation within the bloodstream. Lipid peroxidation damages blood vessel walls, increasing atherosclerosis and the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
The conclusion is clear: An avo a day will help keep metabolic syndrome away.

Idea I got while fic-plotting:
Alpha!Tseng using scent-blocking/fake-beta cologne. Not to mask his own scent but to cover how much he smells of Rufus.

So I may be being a... little obsessed with the omega!Rufus & his beta!Turks idea I have running through my mind. So I decided to make a ficlet collection of it on AO3.
Here’s the first bit of it here as well.
Tags: omegaverse (implied!pack-style), off-screen sex,
Pairings: Rufus/Turks, Tseng/Rufus, Reno/Rufus, mentioned!Rude/Rufus
“Tseng,” Rufus says, reaching out from where he is laying on the couch to gently flick at the Turk’s hair. Anyone else and they would likely be dead already. Or at least with a broken arm. Only Rufus can get away with this level of annoying the beta. “Why are you still reading reports?”
It’s late. Not that that fact bothers either of them. They have both stayed up much later to ensure their goals achieved.
But this night Rufus has that itch under his skin that is the hallmark of his designation. Suppressants help but not even Shinra’s highest quality can completely remove the craving that is a heat.
“What would you suggest I do otherwise?” Tseng asks, glancing to Rufus from the papers he is reading.
Really it is a testament to Tseng’s loyalty and professionalism that a raised eyebrow is all Rufus gets despite how he is sprawled. The white silk nightgown he is wearing open around his legs. The air conditioning of the apartment cool on his bare skin.
An alpha wouldn’t resist such a blatant invitation from an omega. But Tseng is not an alpha – it is why Rufus’ father allows him such access to his son even in such a delicate time of the year for all he doesn’t really give a shit about Rufus or his comforts.
“What would you have me do instead?” Tseng asks. His voice even and border-lining on bored.
Kill my father for me.
Rufus doesn’t say it. Sure they will be looping the footage later anyway. And the Turks now have thrown their lot in with him. But it is too early in the game for such a strong play. No matter how much Rufus wishes it were that simple.
“Entertain me,” Rufus says instead. “It is so lonely here. Not allowed out other than to be paraded around an event.”
Rufus goes to bat at Tseng’s hair again only to have his hand caught. Tseng gives Rufus a warning look but is holding the wrist right under his nose. Taking in Rufus’ scent for all a Beta can.
“And what would you have me do about it?”
“Well considering you will not allow me out to find someone to help fill the gap I am currently missing in my life you will just have to step up and do it yourself.”
“And how am I supposed to do that?” Tseng asks, his face now leaning over Rufus’. His eyes clearly watching Rufus’ lips.
“You’re a clever man, I’m sure you can figure it out,” Rufus says.
There’s a moment where Rufus thinks Tseng might draw away like he often does when they play this game. And Rufus will call him a tease and an asshole and Tseng will roll his eyes at him before returning to his reports and Rufus will tell himself that it is because of his father and once they kill the bastard they might actually acknowledge this thing they’ve been dancing around for years now.
And then Tseng leans down to kiss him.
The kiss is full of promise. And maybe it is supposed to be a taste of things to come when Rufus’ father is out of the way. But Tseng has known Rufus for long enough to know he will never stop at just a taste of something he wants. So really he shouldn’t be surprised when Rufus deepens the kiss. Nor when he starts working on undoing the Turks’ tie and shirt and dragging the beta to his room because he they aren’t doing this on the couch their first time for all Rufus isn’t the sentimental type.
And anyone who says a beta cannot satisfy an omega like an alpha can has clearly never met Tseng. Not that Rufus is going to let any other omega find that out. Because Tseng is his and he is Tseng’s and together they are going to bring in a new age of Shinra, starting with Rufus’ father removal from the President’s seat.
Right now the victory is post-sex bliss and that omegan itch not driving Rufus’ insane for at least 10 minutes of his heat.
“How long have you wanted to do that?” Rufus asks because what other bedroom talk do they have?
“If I told you would judge me,” Tseng says. Unusually honest for a Turk.
But Rufus has earned that honesty from them in exchange for his own.
-------------
“Am I interrupting something?” Tseng asks, standing in the doorway to Rufus’ bedroom in the apartment-turned-prison.
Reno at least looks slightly chastised for being found naked in the Vice President’s bed. He should be grateful nobody but his fellow Turks bother to visit Rufus at his own home or else Reno might have found himself into a predicament he can’t talk or fight his way out of for once in his life.
Rufus has no such shame, making no move towards covering himself up and if anything seeming to stretch further across the bed in his post-sex state.
“Well, seeing as I’m not allowed out I decided to order in tonight instead,” the Vice President of Shinra says, reaching out with one of his legs to rub against Reno’s.
Somehow it seems to break Reno from the limited shame he does have. The red-haired beta breaking out in a grin.
“He’s a real handful isn’t he boss?” Reno asks, his hand running up Rufus’ leg until he finds where the wet of Rufus’ slick has trailed down to.
“He is,” Tseng agrees if only because it makes Rufus glare.
There’s a moment of silence. Enough for Reno to apparently get bored.
“Right, well I’m going out for a smoke,” Reno says, getting out of the bed. “Want one?”
“I’m fine,” Rufus says. He smokes socially – Tseng has seen him with cigarettes and cigars at the social gatherings his father orders him out of the apartment for, but there are never cigarettes in any of the orders for the apartment.
“Suit yourself,” Reno says with a shrug. He gives Tseng a nod on his way past into the main part of the apartment. The sound of the sliding door to the balcony opening and closing fills the silence a minute later.
“Am I next going to find Rude in your bed?” Tseng asks. If this is going to become a regular thing they are going to have to become even more careful in looping the footage. Only so many glitches can be hidden by technical error before Shirna Senior orders new cameras installed and they do have to plot the alpha’s fall as well.
“Who says I haven’t already invited him in?” Rufus asks, looking smug and content. It’s a good look on him and Tseng does hope he will get to see it even more once Rufus is sitting on the throne of the Shinra Company. “Are you jealous Tseng?”
“No.” He honestly isn’t. He had known what Rufus was like even before they decided to join sides – a promiscuous omega even as a teen. His father had once said the one good thing about Rufus’ betrayal and house arrest is that he no longer had to worry about any bastard grandchildren running around. “I’m a beta remember.”
Rufus snorts.
“Don’t hide behind your designation. It’s not professional.”
“Can you really claim professionalism right now?” Tseng asks as he walks over to the bed. They had long past the point of that. The fact Rufus was apparently fucking them all not even their biggest break from it.
“What am I supposed to do? I am an omega after all,” Rufus says. Despite them both knowing it’s complete shit – Rufus is no more or less sex-addicted than his alpha father. At least Rufus has enough sense to remember birth control and not leaving a trail of illegitimate children all unfortunately inheriting their sire’s drive for power.
“Now who is hiding behind their designation?” Tseng asks. “Omegas are the centers of packs. You should be careful not to ruin your heart before you find yours.”
“I already have a pack,” Rufus says, reaching out to draw Tseng into him. Not that Tseng is fighting the silent order. Nor does he deny Rufus the kiss he clearly wants. “Are who says I even have a heart to ruin?”
Tseng doesn’t even bother to answer the question.
A little later Reno comes in with the smart mouth question about interrupting, only to then call Tseng an ass for not calling him back if Rufus wanted a second round.
Rufus looks entirely too smug about it all.
