“Yeah,” Peter said lowly. “And if you were a wolf then you’d be long healed,” he added, fingers caressing Stiles’ skin as Stiles huffed into his pillow.

“But I’m not.”

“And isn’t that a pity,” was the last thing Stiles heard before he drifted off.

Derek Hale Oneshot

Prompt: You just had your baby and ask Peter for help while Derek is unavailable. Derek comes home and gets extremely protective of the baby, almost fighting Peter in the process.

“Shh Shh. Uncle Peter will be here soon and then we can get that bottle,” I cooed at Claire who was throwing a huge hungry fit. She only answered me by wailing at a higher octave and scrunching up her face in anger. As I walked around the loft, swaying her in my arms, the front door slid open to reveal Peter wincing in pain. “Holy crap, I could hear her from outside the building.”

Rolling my eyes, I immediately walked over to him and handed her over, making sure he supported her head before running over to the kitchen to make a bottle. Her screaming stopped at the sight of a new face but she was still far from happy. “Hello little were-baby. No more crying, your favorite uncle is here. Yes, you like me way better than scary old Argent, don’t you, yes you do.”

I chuckled at his absurd baby talk and shook up the milk formula before popping it into the microwave. As Peter took a seat on the couch, the front door slid open and Derek basically came running in. “Get away from her,” he growled at Peter, looking pissed as ever. Confused, I walked out into view and Derek glanced over at me before turning his attention back to Peter. “I said, get away from her!” His eyes had turned red and his face was now shifted. Claire was now scared and back to wailing in Peter’s arms.

Before anything happened, I walked over and took Claire out of his embrace. “What’s your problem Derek?” Peter asked while getting up from the couch. “I don’t want you touching her. She’s not yours, she’s mine!”

I knew Derek was protective of Claire but this was out of control. Peter was her Godfather for Gods sake! “Derek, honey. I asked him to come over and help me. You weren’t answering your phone,” I tried explaining calmly. It didn’t seem to help and before I knew it, Derek lunged for Peter and they both fell to the floor. “Derek! Knock it off!” I yelled, but it was useless. Claire was now absolutely freaking out so I grabbed the bottle from the microwave and left to our room.

I could hear the sound of things breaking and the two of them growling at each other. I tried feeding Claire but she was so worked up, she didn’t want it. I sighed in exasperation and decided to stop this whole thing now. I placed the bawling Claire into her bassinet and quickly walked back out to the living room where Derek was standing over Peter, ready to throw a punch. “Hey!”

Derek stopped to look at me which Peter took the time to shove him off of him and get up. “Derek, you need to knock it off! Peter did nothing wrong and you’re acting out of control! Now either both of you leave or calm the hell down, you’re scaring Claire and pissing me off!”

The 2 men glared at each other but didn’t continue fighting so I took that as a truce and went back into the bedroom. Now it was going to be twice as hard to get her to calm down and I was running out of energy. As I patted her back and rocked her against my chest, Derek came into the room. “Not right now Derek,” I said, not needing anymore of his overprotective energy. “Let me see her,” he answered softly, surprising me with his quick mood shift.

I passed her over to him and he cradled her gently against his chest while whispering soft words to her. Her crying slowly ceased and I handed him her bottle which she eagerly grabbed from his hand. I just watched with a smile as he stood there swaying and calming her down in seconds.

While he stayed with Claire, I went out into the living room where Peter was sitting on the couch, holding a paper towel to his bleeding nose. “I would’ve won if you didn’t break it up. He got a lucky shot,” he defended with whatever pride he had left. “Sorry bout that. You know how he gets around her.” He rolled his eyes and sniffled dramatically as if his injury hadn’t already healed. “Well if grumpy werewolf dad has it handled, I’m gonna go home.”

I smiled and gave him a hug before handing him the tray of cookies I made earlier in the day. “Here. Maybe these will help you feel better.” He took a bite out of one and gave a long dramatic pause before answering. “They’ll do for now. But if this is how he’s going to act every time I get close to Claire, you better have a better make-up gift.”

I laughed and opened the door to let him out. “I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for helping though.” He just nodded before resuming eating and giving a wave goodbye. I shut and locked the door behind him before walking over to the bedroom entryway. Derek was now on the bed, sitting against the headboard while Claire slept on his chest with her head resting on his shoulder. I came over and sat down beside him, running my fingers gently over her little head. “You know he’s her Godfather right? You have to be ok with him holding her at some point,” I said, giving him a look.

“Well there isn’t a need for him to be acting Godfather until the both of us are in the ground and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.” His irritated tone caused Claire to whimper a bit but Derek was quick to hush her back to sleep.
