Treat - “Okay. Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do—fuck” for Gabe and Alonso, please?

"Okay." Gabe finally took his hands away from his face, at least a semblance of a plan finally formed in his mind. "Okay, here's what we're gonna do- fuck!"

He couldn't control himself anymore when he saw Alonso kick a hole in the floor of their carriage-prison.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

"Saving us, duh!"

Alonso didn't even look at him, but continued to kick down the planks until he could get his whole foot out. Then he sent Gabe a triumphant - terrifying, in their current situation - smile and with all his strength kicked the back wheels axle.

The pole snapped, the cart skidded to one side and Gabe crashed into Alonso, knocking them both against the wall. And if he hadn't already accidentally hit him in the head, he'd definitely do it on purpose.

Alonso seemed to understand that, seeing Gabe's furious gaze and really wished his face wasn't currently smushed into his own. He did also start to question if maybe his idea wasn't so good after all.

As if in an answer to the unspoken threat, the cart jumped one more time when the wheel completely fell off and dropped on one side to the ground.

The door swung open.

Gabe and Alonso looked at it in disbelief.

Two thugs on horseback looked at them back, in similar disbelief.

"Fuck it," Gabe whispered breathlessly and jumped out of the carriage, dragging Alonso behind him.

They hit the ground and ran, Alonso stumbling and complaining, but following nonetheless.

"What are you two idiots staring at, get'em!"

Alonso turned in time to see the two thugs shake off the shock and rush their horses. His terrified scream however was cut short by another yank from Gabe, dragging him into the forest by the side of the road.

"What are you- It's- Getting lost in the jungle isn't much better than getting kidnapped, Gabe!" he shouted when he finally spat the leaves out of his mouth.

"It's better than getting trampled!"

"They wouldn't do that! We're valuable prisoners! Or at least I am." They had to slow down to push through the thicket which unfortunately gave Alonso the time to catch his breath.

The voices behind them got louder. Their pursuers must've gotten off their horses and followed them.

"Gah, they're catching up on us! Can't you go any faster?" Alonso picked up the pace and was basically breathing down Gabe's neck now. For a moment Gabe considered just letting him get recaptured.

"They wouldn't be so close, if you didn't give out our position with your babbling."

"What does it matterrr," Alonso groaned, since Gabe couldn't see him roll his eyes. "I see a path to the left, we're gonna go much faster in that direction."

They could split up. It was tempting.

"Nope." He turned around and grabbed Alonso by his collar, pulling him again behind him. Elena would probably kill him if he let him get killed.

"Will you stop doing this-!" The prince slapped his hand off. "Why does it matter?! We're walking aimlessly anyway!"

"We're not." Gabe let the next branch hit Alonso in the face. "And we're almost..."

His voice trailed off as they stumbled into a clearing. After a few meters of high grass the ground ended abruptly in a low cliff and fell into a wide river.

"This has been your genius plan?" Alonso huffed and slowly clapped his hands. "Good job general, now we don't have anywhere to run."

"We do." Gabe walked to the cliff. Alonso followed him before his hand once again could reach for his collar. "I hope you can swim?"

Alonso glanced at the river. It wasn't a raging mountain torrent, luckily, but the thought of entering an unknown body of water with no preparation (and without his swimsuit!) still filled him with dread. A chill ran down his spine. He hid it under a scoff.

"Why would I need to? The only time I go on water is in my yacht, of course I don't swim."

That's when the thugs entered the clearing.

Gabe turned to Alonso and it was finally his turn to smile triumphantly - and it filled Alonso with terror.

"Then it's time you learned!"

He tackled Alonso into the river.

If Alonso drowns now, that's on him

Despite being a prince, he doesn't act or dress much like one, much to the confusion of his fellow princes

He's a fun-loving dude, but not to the extent that his father used to be

He gets along better with his grandfather, Juan Ramón, than his father, Alonso

He's the kid who was "a pleasure to have in class" in elementary school, then he got hit with The Demons (autism/ADHD combo) in middle school and never got that back

He's friends with the kids of the other Elena of Avalor characters, but he's always kind of felt like the odd one out among them

He's been told he has a bit of a staring problem, which adds to his general aura of creepiness

The stuff he sells out of his locker is against school rules, but it isn't anything overly dangerous (fireworks are the worst it gets)

He mainly sells to the VKs

He keeps his gory art secret, since everybody who sees it says that he should "see a therapist" or "get help."

Several people genuinely think that he's going to shoot up the school because he draws horror art

This (obviously) hurts his feelings a lot

And that's how he meets Sofia, the Encanto's own resident freak

Her gift of nightmare manipulation/animation scares people, like Diego's drawings

They start quietly hanging out, and slowly creep into friendship, then being best friends

It takes both of them FOREVER (and much sibling/cousin intervention) to actually start dating

Se que suena muy tópico, pero como crees que sería una misión en la que la patru tenga que estar en la corte de los reyes Católicos?

La tapadera de cada uno dependerá de lo que necesiten, pero a priori se me ocurre que Alonso esté de soldado o guardia, Amelia de dama de compañía o sirvienta, y Julián en el servicio o hacer de médico, o algo así, porque a Julián de guardia no le veo, más o menos poner a cada uno en papeles que suelen hacer cuando van a alguna corte.

El juego está en la que se puede liar con el tema Julián/Fernando, si resulta que la patru está en la corte cuando Fernando no está, 🤔se lo tomarán como una broma de que Fernando se ha vestido de plebeyo y está tomándole el pelo a la corte, porque o piensan que Julián es el gemelo perdido de Fernando o que es una artimaña de Fernando, y si de repente llega Fernando o desde un principio está allí, se monta una situación curiosa, la patrulla y la corte teniendo a los dos, que aunque son como dos gotas de agua físicamente, contrastan en cuanto a sus personalidades y comportamientos.

Si Amelia se acerca a Isabel creo que se caerían bien en cierto sentido, aunque tendrían que tener cuidado por si a Fernando se le van lo ojos (de vez en cuando Fernando se las gasta de mujeriego, y no era raro que de vez en cuando intentara coquetear con alguna de las damas de compañía y servicio de la corte, a parte de sus aventuras en Aragón)

Sería genial que Alonso al entrar en la guardia, se relacionara con el Gran Capitán, porque creo que se llevarían bien, y que entrenaran alguna vez juntos, y que también se uniera Fernando al entrenamiento, y que Alonso y él acabaran teniendo un pequeño duelo de espadas.

(Por cierto, Tiempo de pícaros sucede en 1520...y Fernando el Católico murió en 1516, puede ser que tras la intervención de Julián, alguien haya creído que Fernando volvió momentáneamente de la muerte como un milagro para cargarse al corregidor y luego volvió al más allá 🤔😂)

Back Traces

“Maru?” Mateo guessed as Elena traced a circle on his back, feeling the graze of her nails through the thin material of his robe. 

“No, I’m just drawing circles,” Elena answered lazily. Mateo turned his head to see her completely vertical on her side of the bed. Her hair splayed out in waves while her eyes drooped slightly as if she couldn’t keep them open any longer. 

They had had a busy week. Elena was having an Everrealm tour, which of course, the whole family went along. They had already visited seven kingdoms in the past five days. Resulting in time for having a lovely breakfast and beach promenade in Nueva Vista for Mrazel’s coronation before running to the docks to sail to Cariza. 

A meal, an hour of sightseeing unless it was consumed by kingdom entertainment or meeting the hosting royal had in store for them to experience, before rushing off to the dock or carriage so they could make the next meal in time. 

Normally, the tour would be much more spread out but Elena had been insistent on getting things done efficiently and quickly and that she was not interested in the long formalities that kingdoms would try to impose if she spread out her royal tour for three weeks. 

Mateo suspected an ulterior motive in Elena’s decision since their last stop was in Satu just in time to celebrate the Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the most beautiful and romantic festival in the Everrealm. 

It was a whirlwind experience and even without a lift of his tamborita, he could feel the magic and the beauty of the place in his bones. It felt like time had stopped and he could gaze at her forever. But they couldn’t. Although they did manage to sneak a good hour of stolen kisses before being whisked away to the next event. 

Now they were in Cordoba, one of the last kingdoms on their tour and Alonso had offered to lead everyone on a carriage ride. 

Elena and Mateo had chosen to retire for a siesta, a choice that was discreetly welcomed by their host who was still courting Princess Valentina during their visit. The couple went off on their carriage ride for two without a backward glance at them. 

But of all things, once Mateo hit the bed, he couldn’t fall asleep. His body was tired, he could barely lift his legs from the 500 thread count sheets and he didn’t want to. But his brain remained active. 

He wasn’t even thinking about anything important. Just observing the details of the room like the golden frame of the mirror, impeccably sculpted into curlicues. The velvet rug which he wondered if it was King Alonso’s choice or his father’s and how they thought they’d get stains out if that should happen? He admired the mahogany wood yet berated himself because these were all petty details that didn’t matter when he wanted to sleep!

But his eyes remained achingly open and he wondered why this was happening. 

He used ot have insomnia when he was young. Usually gripped by nightmares of his father’s arrest. Nightmares he hadn’t confided to his mother that he had seen the events at the top of the stairs. He couldn’t tell her when she was having such a difficult time herself. 

But that had disappeared after a night with ELena. Not as scandalous as her mother first thought when he accidentally let that skip, but just sleeping next to her, being there for her for her nightmares helped get his mind off his own. 

Not entirely though. He’d never escape the insomnia haunting him completely but at least siestas with Elena were his one refuge. He always slept well in the comforting warmth of Elena spooning in his arms. 

But if he couldn’t sleep now, did that mean his nights would be free? Or would his nights and siestas be similarly impeded by his overactive brain?

“Oh mi amor, can’t sleep?” Elena asked, her calming voice bringing Mateo back from the spiral that he was about to go down. 

Mate shook his head of the thoughts to concentrate on the woman beside him. With a tired smile he admitted, “Yes, I am.” 

“It’s a curse. All during the introductions and treaty negotiations, I wanted to sleep, but now I can’t either,” Elena sighed, “Want me to do back traces?” 

“Back traces?” Mateo repeated. 

“When Isa and I were younger and couldn’t sleep, we’d do back traces on each other. Ike this-turn around.” 

And would could Mateo do but obediently lay on his side as Elena did the back traces. And she was right, it was soft and it gave his mind something else to focus on, concentrating on the soothing feel of her nails as she said, “Guess what I’m writing.” 

The first word had been “Wizard.” Then his name, then little phrases like “Lleveluque” and “I love chocolate.” Which brought him here with the pleasant tingling sensation fading from his back and the sudden acute absence of her touch. 

He twisted his neck again, catching a glimpse of Elena blissfully asleep. 

Suppressing agrowing yawn himself, he flipped around so he could gather her in his arms. She unconsciously rubbed her head against him and snuggled closer. 

Finally, he gave in to sleep.

PLOT:

Mateo watches in horror as Prince Alonso stages an elaborate political marriage proposal to Elena on her birthday ball. He remembers the past year when their friendship quickly shifted to romance after Elena’s coronation.

 They are happy to be lovers, but Mateo still doubts that the relationship will last once the court pressures Elena into a rank-appropriate marriage. Unaware that Elena herself is waiting for him to propose, thinking of marriage while she watches him sleeping next to her.

 Elena smiles brilliantly at Alonso’s diamond ring and thanks him grandly in front of the whole court but does not give a straight answer. A hurt Mateo sees Alonso and Elena happily talking to each other and turns away. Elena spots her lover across the room, remembering all the happy kisses they shared and is determined to share the next dance with him, while Alonso dances with Chloe.

To her surprise, Mateo turns her down, with a biting comment about her new fiancé. This only confuses Elena: she did not say yes. Mateo argues back that she did not say no either and they start to fight about their different backgrounds. Elena waves off her vague reply as a normal unspoken court rule, to which Mateo snaps back that as a commoner he cannot know. Trying to calm down, Elena drags him outside to talk. 

She wonders aloud if Mateo actually wants her to marry Alonso and he finally opens up about his self-doubt. The court is gossiping about their relationship, and he starts to wonder if they are right and that the Queen deserves someone who can actually give her money, a palace and a crown.

But Elena is quick to remind her wizard that she IS a Queen in her own right and already has all the material status a marriage could offer. The alliance with Cordoba is strong with a shared bridge and trade relations, so she does not need a marriage for the political bond between the kingdoms. All she wants is someone to share her life with, the good and the bad times.

 This leads to an improvised proposal that she nervously stumbles through. A far cry from the glittering smile to Alonso’s staged performance, it is perfect for her true love.

Stunned at first, Mateo happily accepts and Elena apologizes that she has no ring for him. But her emotion magic takes care of her desire, as the butterfly conjured by her happiness lands on Mateo’s finger and transforms in a simple golden ring.

we see lucia call raul “cariño” in día de las madres so i imagine she called him that a lot and elena picked it up

mateo loves it he’s a sucker for pet names

mateo loses stuff all the time and elena always knows where it is

“i swear i just had my tamborita” “it’s on the desk” “hey while we’re at it have you seen my-” “on that small table in your workshop”

this is basically canon but they’re very physically affectionate in public, not in an overtly gross all over each other way but they’re always touching

sometimes elena will just glance at him and her dress will go pink and she gets all embarrassed but he loves it so much it’s a constant reminder of how much she loves him

mateo had a whole proposal planned out with a speech and everything but then one night they were both really sleep deprived and he just said “hey we should get married” and that’s how they got engaged

at their wedding, mateo had to do a magic-proofing spell on her dress halfway through the ceremony because her dress kept flickering between pink and yellow and it was hurting peoples eyes

yes only one specific dress changed colours in the show probably because it was the dress she was wearing when she fell into takaína but i don’t care

gabe was mateos best man, esteban, armando, and alonso were his groomsmen (i hc that after alonso learned his lesson, he and the main 4 became good friends especially since cordoba is so close by)

luisa was elena’s matron of honour, and her bridesmaids were naomi, isa, and sofia

it was a catholic wedding and they keep the candle on a shelf above their bed, mateo wanted to enchant it so it would never burn out but elena thought it was better left alone

this one isn’t an eleteo hc but i like the idea of mateo and cedric being good friends and swapping spells n shit because the magic used in the two shows are so different

ok going on a tangent but despite tamboritas being used in every single kingdom that’s shown in eoa, we never see one in stf. has cedric ever even heard of one? and the spells that mateo uses are very different than the ones cedric uses, i think it’s pretty cool how two different spells can achieve the exact same effect (such as levitation)

they’re both pretty good cooks, but terrible bakers. mateo grew up helping rafa in the kitchen so he knows his way around but she doesn’t bake much so neither does he

again not eleteo but the only one of the 4 that can bake is naomi, she’s a natural. everyone finds it hilarious that the bakers son sucks hard at it but his ship captain wife is amazing

i’m very passionate about baking it’s kinda my thing i actually just finished making a cheesecake and honestly it’s very impressive to me that gabe grew up in a bakery and sucks ass at baking because as long as you follow the recipe you should be able to make most basic things

anyways. mateo grows his hair out to about his shoulders and elena loves to braid it for him to get it out of his face

elena is bi and demi, mateo is pan. mateo also doesn’t really give a shit about gender or gender presentation, he just wears what he likes. he gets gabe into nail polish.

What country are Cordoba and Paraiso based on?

I don't remember if Craig Gerber has ever confirmed that, but I'm pretty sure both Cordoba and Paraíso are based on Latin American countries. Cordoba reminds me of Argentina, because Elena and Alonso dance tango. I'm not sure about Paraíso, but, maybe, Brazil?

Anyway, if anybody knows for sure, tell us, please!

Hi Marlena. I think Marlena is my one of my favourites minor characters for if only because I think she has sibling like relationship with Mateo. So I’m glad she did get lowkey bigger role this season even though it’s still small.

The forgivness dress is white! Yeah, I thought so for longer time!

Though the reason is most probably either cause white is angelic colour or mixed coulour of rainbows I thought this because of that dress (and...that might be foreshadowing of white forgivness dress?):

Because of that first dress being in episode where Esteban after making mistake decided that he (well,and Naomi and Mateo and Luna.Though not really Luna) owes her more than apology, and also because that’s where we got little more of his backstory.

And the second because Esteban was reffering to this episode in his clue, even though she didn’t have that dress in scene he was reffering to. Also, in that episode Elena was especially worried about being noble leader, and she was afraid of losing everything again even though there was no real threat at those point.

Also, that’s why I kinda tried to find connections to certain episodes in Elena’s other colours.
