Love reading through your analyses and I was wondering if you had insight on something I noticed with Hank/Beast and Kurt/Nightcrawler: writers often use both of them in the visible mutation metaphor and emotional cores, but Kurt's approach is more from faith and Hank's is more from curiosity. Often when one or either are gone/dead/changed, things seem to get worse for the Team overall.

Do you think those two would benefit each other's characters? Even just to have spirited philosophical discussion?

So, this actually touches on a funny thing that I've noticed with Beast and Nightcrawler over time - which is that they're almost never on the same team together, probably precisely because they serve an extremely similar function in a team composition, for the reasons you've kind of touched on here.

They are, after all, both heavily visibly mutated individuals who were, or are, considered figures of great integrity and morality, with a strong code of ethics and a depth of feeling that expresses itself in a deeply vivacious personality - romantic, friendly, charming, and erudite.

Therefore, having them both on a team is, unfortunately, somewhat redundant.

That being said! They do still interact, and they're shown to be sources of great comfort and friendship for one another. Their first meetings were - somewhat inauspicious . . .

See, this is the funny thing about old comics - storylines just flow and flow and flow. Comics didn't stop after ten issues and get restarted with a new #1 every few months, they just ran and ran and ran, and the pacing reflected that.

There aren't usually month long gaps where you can assume nothing happened and people just got to hang out, they're working hard! Hank has been working with the Avengers so much that he literally hasn't even had time to meet the new X-Men properly! Wild.

But, eventually, things did slow down, and they got a chance to properly socialise, and, as expected, they got along like a house on fire.

Like, these two are just born to be friends. They have so much in common. Where Hank leans more to the obscure, the erudite, and the scientific, Kurt leans more to the dashing, the swashbuckling, and, of course, the religious, but they're still both fundamentally cut from the same cloth - acrobatic, charming, philosophical, heroic, fun.

But, that same alike quality means you don't get a ton of interaction between them, so I cling to what they do have. One of my favourite interactions between them is in Nightcrawler's 2004 solo series.

First off, absolutely adore Hank in this art style. The fact that the artist decided to include the detail of his fur poking out of the shirt like that is just. It transfixes me. I really want to go over and just. Run my fingers through his side fur. But mostly, I just like their chemistry? Hank's a great supporting character because he's so emotionally intelligent and reflective, and he's great at giving people perspective, usually with a healthy dose of sarcasm and teasing.

That being said, this scene is always the one I point to whenever I say that the X-Men really have no idea what's going on in Hank's head a lot of the time, because this took place after Hank had been psychically brutalised, nearly beaten to death, and one of his best friends had just been murdered - and he's doing a really very good job of hiding that trauma.

So much so that Kurt thinks he's just fine. He's just fine. There's nothing to worry about. But it's not Kurt's fault, and it's nowhere near unique to him, either. He had no way to know, he had his own stuff going on (the subject matter of this solo series, as it happens), and Hank is doing well enough that it isn't interfering with things, so, let him deal with it in peace, I suppose.

At least on this occasion.

Kurt is, after all, an emotionally intelligent and caring individual. You can't stop Nightcrawler from trying to help where he can. And I think that even just the reaching out, just the show of support, can be enough for a character like Hank.

Moments like these matter, in my opinion. It's important to show that teammates and friends care about each other, in the moment to moment stories, otherwise it can all feel very impersonal and like no-one cares about one another. This is how you establish dynamics over years, even between characters who have, technically speaking, never really been on a team together before.

The next big milestone I can think of comes after the X-Men's move to Utopia, where, again, Hank and Kurt don't share a ton of panel time together, but . . .

This is one of the few times you'll ever hear anyone say that Hank was right. And it's not really a surprise that it comes from Kurt, because, again, these men are cut from the same cloth. They come at it from different angles, but they believe in much the same things.

And . . . that's why it hits so hard when Kurt dies.

I don't necessarily agree with the decision to have Hank break from the literal funeral procession to call Scott out for Kurt's death. Some fans of Nightcrawler really appreciate that moment, because it shows how much Kurt's death affected Hank, but I personally just. Don't think it tracks, for Hank to be quite that disrespectful.

After the funeral, or even before, but during it? Nah. Matt Fraction made a good few Hank characterisation choices I don't agree with, and this was one of them.

This felt a bit more apropos.

Remember what I said about how little moments build to dynamics between characters who have never been on teams together? I buy this moment so much more with the context of that moment from Endangered Species, where Kurt is literally positioned as the light trying to pull Hank out of the dark path he's following with obsessive fervour. The fact that he was trying went a long way. Hank felt it, even if he didn't take him up on it at the time. That moment mattered.

And that's why I absolutely buy Hank's reaction when Kurt came back to life.

Hank believes in Kurt. He believes the very best of him. On teams where Hank can often feel alone or isolated, someone like Kurt will reach out, and make him feel connected, and welcome, and pull him back. Temper his scientific pessimism and realism with optimism and belief. Restore his fervour, and remind him of simpler, happier times.

A lot of the best scientists, who have contributed the most to scientific inquiry, were religious, because for a lot of them, there's no real conflict between science and religion, they're both two sides of the same coin, in a way - a belief in a higher power. It's just how they react to that higher power that changes.

And while Hank was explicitly religious for a while, I always interpreted him as losing that faith over the years, becoming bogged down in the real over the sublime as what he went through wore him down. Someone like Kurt was able to spark that in him again. Maybe not his faith, per se, but at the very least belief in the human spirit.

It's important. As you say, massive benefit to each other's characters. Underrated dynamic, these two. Absolutely love 'em.

Alrighty, THIS gifset of the hotwiring/"Don't ya, Big Boy" scene (aka, the moment that gave us all permanent brainrot) unlocked a new Steve Headcanon.

Steve can learn to do something just by watching someone do it. Hell, he even prefers it if they don't talk about the thing while they do the thing.

He absolutely sucks at reading instructions. He always skips straight to the pictures and visualises someone, or himself, carrying out each step, forgoing the lengthy written preamble.

He just wants to watch, follow along with actions. Most of the time he finds himself blocking out what they are saying anyway.

But he doesn't like someone hovering, either, which is why he always only just passed Shop Class and why he has never managed to appear 'handy' in the presence of his father. Plus, there was always a healthy dose of someone talking to him like he was a total dummy, which only made him want to not bother at all.

Steve just watches as Eddie Munson hops in the front seat of an RV they are in the process of 'commandeering'. Which wires he is pulling, shredding and sparking. Where they come from in the compartment just under the steering wheel.

He considers himself a car guy but just not with things on the more illegal side. But they are desperate right now and he might need to start the RV back up again. God knows how this is all going to shake out.

He just hopes everyone will be okay.

He watches Eddie hotwire the car with ring-adorned fingers and finds himself not tuning out the guy's words. He isn't even telling Steve how to do it, nor isn't speaking about it like he's the world's biggest dumbass. Besides, Eddie's charms are impossible to ignore.

But Steve sure as hell hopes he won't find himself in a situation that requires him to do something like hotwire a car again after he and his friends find their way out of this mess.

How Awkward Are The Blue Lock Boys In A Relationship?

-1- Not Awkward At All

Maybe it's because you're friends beforehand or maybe it's because he's been in relationships before but he settles right in. You two just clicked from the first date and now you're connected at the hip. He doesn't care if you see him all sweaty and gross after practice or if he has a habit that kind of grosses you out. He bares it all from the get go and has a sort of charm you can't deny. PDA is a must and you swear he doesn't know the meaning of the word "cocky" with the way he peacocks and shows you off to everyone he knows. Even when he isn't the life of the party he makes sure to look out for you and assure you're having a good time wherever you two go.

He tries to hide at least some of his more stupid habits from you. Except for the fact that he has a before game good luck ritual. And yes you do have to participate. He's the type of boyfriend to show up where you work just to surprise you with flowers. He has a sort of calming aura to him that makes you feel safe and at ease, even when you meet his parents. It's obvious to everyone around him that he loves you with all his heart and he isn't afraid to show it. You know each other inside and out within the first few months of dating because he's just that open and honest.

-3- Only A Bit

Honestly didn't expect you to go on a second date with him. Between his busy life as a professional athlete and his love of egoism, he didn't expect to ever be in a relationship. But then you came along. His personality kind of saves him from being awkward, or at least percieved as such. All about communication, if he's feeling jealous or neglected he'll tell you outright. He honestly doesn't realize the absolute vice grip he holds on you or the way you stare in awe as you watch him train for his next big match. If anything, he'll make you feel awkward as you try to explain to him just exactly why you love him so much.

-4- Has A Healthy Dose Of Nerves

He probably waited a while to ask you out and got the final push he needed from his friends. Insanely thoughtful and compassionate, but also a bit of a dork sometimes. He is a bit more guarded about how quickly he lets you in on his innermost thoughts and probably gets nervous that you might leave him easier. Deep down he just knows how lucky he is to have a partner like you and he takes that seriously. He warms up to you quickly though and soon you find yourself getting up to all sorts of stupid antics with him. He holds your hand a lot just to feel your palm against his.

He isn't awkward in the steriotypical, blushing and easily flustered way. It's more introspective than that. He just learning how to be with you, slowly but surely. And the growing period that comes with that can feel awkward at times. You can just tell from the way he holds you and tries to get closer to you that he doesn't want to force you to do anything you don't want to do. Honestly, he'll probably be a bit more comfortable if you take the reins and tell him what you need. He'll gladly comply

You absolutely undo him. Your laugh, your smile and praise, everything about you has his heartbeat speeding up. This man does not know how to act around you. Anyone who tries to hit on you will immediately get hit with an "Excuse me, is this guy/girl bothering you?" and a glare, but outside of that he is almost weary of announcing that you guys are together because he doesn't want to make you uncomfortable. His text messages are all mini paragraphs that could win prose competitions and it's equally funny and sweet.

-7- Doesn't Know The Meaning Of Relaxing

Let's be honest, it's probably because you tease him. You just can't help it! He's so cute when he's struggling to come up with a response to your compliments and sly comments. At the beginning, he didn't expect it to turn into a serious thing at all, which is why he's utterly unprepared when the relationship turns more romantic. When you tell him you love him he freezes up a little bit. But every single time you start to worry your love is unappreciated he manages to gather the courage to wrap his arm around your waist and stare at you with a look of adoration that says it all.

He's a little bit pathetic. It kind of bothers him how nervous you make him. He's a world class athlete damn it! He's at the top of his field, anyone in their right mind would pay money just to date him for a week! When you two are in private he shows his love mostly through quality time than anything else. You can feel the way he relaxes and breathes a little bit easier when you lean up against him. It's a miracle you aren't just after his fame and money or he'd go broke just to please you.

During your first kiss he accidentally hit your teeth against his and that just set the tone for the whole relationship. You wake up to a notification in the middle of the night that he liked one of your posts from years and years back, and then just like that it disappears. He accidentally drops the expensive gift he meant to give to you for your anniversary. He is the definition of fail cringe and yet he managed to snag you anyway and he will never stop wondering how. He somehow forgets that he's never missed a date, never failed to be respectful and nonjudgemental and overall has been the best boyfriend you could ever ask for.

-10- Even Anxiety Meds Can't Help Him Now

On the field he's a beast, a master of trash talking and trickshots and yet when he talks to you he finds himself lost for words. He feels his mouth go dry when you ask him anything and he finds himself mesmerized by your eyes at inappropriate times. Please initiate plans with him, please talk to him often or he'll get confused and think you hate him. The type to almost start crying if you try to play mind games with him. While on the outside it sometimes looks like you're constantly pushing him to even be social, it's impossible to deny how much he loves you when you see him searching for you in a crowded room, completely lost without you by his side.

Breath held, Harry squints his eyes open and focuses on the first stick. A blue line. Harry breathes out an unsteady breath. He’s pretty sure he read that one blue line is a negative, but he fishes the box from the bottom of the pile just to make sure.

“Negative,” he confirms, voice echoing around the small room. “Next.”

Now that he’s feeling a little less shaky, he scans the rest of the tests at once, is met with a headache-inducing mixture of pink plus signs and blue double lines. His heart rate picks up until it’s pounding triple-time in the base of his throat and the pit of his stomach, thundering in his ears and throbbing in his temples. He flips over the rest of the boxes slowly, but he knows what they’re going to say before he even looks.

“Oops!” A deep and slow voice fills Louis’ ears as an arm reaches around his waist, to keep Louis from rebounding into another white-outfitted body – this time a short young girl who could only be gymnast.  “Hi,” Louis replies as he turns to smile up at the person and thank him for preventing Louis’ life from dissolving into a real-life game of Pong, but the words dry up in his throat when he sees.

The person is a boy, tall and lanky with curly brown hair pushed away from his face messily and held back by a gaudy Union Jack scarf, green eyes sparkling from all the camera flashes and impossibly pink lips curled in a wide smile that nearly encompasses his whole face.

And Louis recognizes him instantly. And he thinks that maybe if walking into the Olympic Stadium during the opening ceremony wasn’t enough, having Harry Styles’ arm around him might be the killing blow.   Also known as an Olympics AU where Harry is a pro tennis player, and Louis is a pro footballer. They meet at the opening ceremony and fall in love, obviously.

Maybe it was something about it being a leap year and down sort of retrograde. She would have to ask Ginger about that when lectures started again. Because it was only some sort of freak occurance in the stars or an ancient type of course that led Lily to be dressed up in het another fancy dress.

In all fairness, this was for charity. Something about education for underprivileged victims of… Frankly, Lily could not remember and it did not matter. She was doing this for a good cause and if that meant donning a krinoline and bonnet, singing Silent Night until she was ready to toss the glockenspiel in the large bonfire in the square. So be it.

She was going to do it with grace.

The night before the Dickens Christmas Market, Lily's mother had curled her hair and made her sleep with a silk cap on to ensure the ringlets would set just right.

That morning Lily had complained about just how fanatically her mother has pushed the pins onto her hair, securing the Holly adorned headdress to said perfect curls.

Now, on one of her very generous breaks to explore the foar herself, she was wriggling them free. Idely strolling past the stalls lined with sweets and chotchkies. Baubles and figurines. All things Lily did not particularly want or need. But they were so lovely.

Once past the lantern lit shops one of the vendors offered her a hot chocolate and to warm her up he'd added a very generous pour of orange liqueur. Something she gladly accepted, her cold fingers clutching at the souvenir mug.

She took a cheerful stroll along the cheerfully lot Christmas trees, humming an off tune rendition of We Wish you a Merry Christmas and letting her feet decide where they were heading.

After a short stroll, it seemed that her feet were particularly interested in the horse and carriages. Not that she was surprised, she'd been rather charmed by the notion of carriage rides in the snow.

Admittedly, she was a lot less charmed after she'd actually met a horse. The wild thing she'd mounted at some distant family friends farm had tried to throw her off as she desperately had clung to it's mane.

Only to be told later that the one she'd selected had never been broken in and was practically wild. They'd been so impressed with the fact that she'd managed to coax her way onto it's back that theyd nearly forgot to come to her rescue.

Ever since the she'd regarded everything equine with a healthy dose of reluctance.

She'd been assured that these were well trained and their handler was the picture of professionalism. She had nothing to worry about.

And so it came to be thar a slightly tipsy Lily approached the great black and white beast with conviction. Strolling up to it conveniently, only to jolt when it neighed loudly just as her hand reached out to stroke the silken coat.

“Well, aren't you a beauty,” she placated, her finger tips barely brushing its large head. “There is no fear in you, is there?” She asked it and as if she was understood, the horse breezed. Making her pull her hand back for a moment. Almost melting when it turned into her touch.

Its wet nose pressed against her palm and for just a moment, Lily revelled in the fact that this horse seemed to like her.

“Gertrude, you little minx,” the familiar voice from behind her scolded. “You are not flirting your way to another snack, you are on a diet.”

Lily couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. One, the horse was named Gertrude. Gertrude! What kind of name was that? Certainly not something you’d call a horse. Two, was to feel a little betrayed by it. Her? For making her think she was after affection rather than a treat.

But all of that was overshadowed by the fact that she knew that voice, and that voice was not supposed to be here. That voice belonged to someone that looked far too dashing in his cape and top hat.

James. Sir James, if you will. Who she had thought about scandalously snogged the last time she had found herself at a costumed occasion. But despite there having been plenty of opportunities, they had not.

She looked at him with a coy smile, wondering how long it would take for him to recognize her with all these new trimmings. The hair and the bonnet really making a whole world of difference. “Should I start to worry that you’re stalking me?” she questioned after a moment of seemingly nothing.

There was something incredibly entertaining to watch the realization dawn on his face, like a light flickering on slowly, doubtfully at first. And then a bright smile lighting up his entire face. Suddenly leaning against the horse to inch just that little bit closer to her. “Fancy seeing you here.”

Lily knew that she should have rolled her eyes at this, but there was something about this man. Being around him made her want to be one of those swooning maidens, giggling and batting her eyelashes.

She rolled forward, balancing in the balls of her feet as she closed some of the distance between them. Her hand landing on his chest, pretending to pick a piece of straw off his lapel and running the thick fabric between her fingers. “So, what are you doing here?”

“Taking you on a carriage ride,” James answered casually, extending his hand to invite her to climb aboard. Motioning to the driver's bench and giving her a moment’s pause. Her heart was racing in her chest, a giddy feeling starting in her toes as he offered something she’d had wanted to do ever since she was a little girl.

The problem was that she was technically working. Could she really afford to be whisked awayHe reached to adjust the silk ribbon of her bonnet, playing his role of being brazen and charming bachelor. Smiling broadly enough to crinkle his eyes behind his lopsided glasses and flash a dimple that she had not noticed in their prior encounters.

He was still inching closer. Close enough to share the same breath, his finger curling behind the clasp holding her cape closed. Tugging her closer. “Where do you think you’re going?” James asked, his eyes flicking upward.

Lily followed his eyes upward, wondering what it was for. It did not take long to notice that dangling above them from the lantern dangled a bundle of delicate greens and pearly white berries.

Mistletoe.

She stared at it for a moment, wondering if she should make some excuse. She was working, he was working here too, it seemed. It was unprofessional and… Her train of thought disappeared when her eyes met his. In this light, she could see the flecks of green in the whirlpool of gold that drew her in.

Her eyelids fluttering, lashes brushing her cheeks before letting them close. The heat of his face close to hers was welcoming. The anticipation having build enough to ignore the musty scent of horse that clung to him.

Their noses bumped, his glassed pressed uncomfortably into her cheek but his lips met hers.

Finally.

Lily knew that this kiss should have felt incredible and romantic and hard-earned. But honestly, it was a little awkward and too wet for her liking. Objectively, it was a terrible kiss. Maybe one of the worst ones she’d had in a while.

But when he pulled away, all that she wanted to do is claim another one.

Hi! Was trying everything i could, but i just can't find any Gandalf fanfictions, when i found your page. And it is beautiful, truly. I was wondering if maybe you could something where the reader is Gandalf's wife/so or something like that, but no one knew. And when she joins Thorin's company they are like surprised SURPRISED. I understand if you can't, it appears no one thinks of him as they think of elfs, so if you are uncomfortable it ok!

Thank you for your kind words ♡ At this point I’m not writing for the Hobbit characters, but I did the Fellowship’s reactions and some bonus headcanons of mine instead.

Surprisingly, Aragorn knew absolutely nothing about your relationship with Gandalf. While Gandalf is generally a rather private person, you’d think a ranger – a friend, no less – would’ve picked up on the little clues of yours. It is needless to say though that Aragorn would accept you quickly and with a big grin. Anyone who is with his old friend Gandalf is trustworthy to him as well!

･ﾟ✧ Boromir.

Realisation would dawn on Boromir very, very slowly. Once he understood that the new companion was, indeed, the spouse of Gandalf the Grey, he’d fall silent for a few days at least, maybe give a nervous smile or so. He has immense respect for you, perhaps is even a bit afraid. Someone as powerful as Gandalf would have a partner that is just as mighty. It takes him time to accept that you are just as friendly as your husband, too.

･ﾟ✧ Frodo.

While surprised, Frodo would be absolutely charmed to meet you. Gandalf is an old friend of the family, after all. Frodo would treat you just like that, though he would not immediately trust you as much as Gandalf (which, granted, is a whole lot of trust – hard to live up to!). He’d show great interest in who you are, what you do, etc. He would also tease your husband about how long he had kept you a secret and, depending on how said secret was lifted, that he wasn’t able to keep you hidden forever.

･ﾟ✧ Gimli.

I think much of Gimli’s view of Gandalf would change once he met his spouse. He’d be curious about who you are, where you came from, and how the two of you met. He’d probably try and find quiet moments to shower you in questions. Since he is such a fan of partnership and a little romantic himself, Gimli would encourage the two of you to be more open about your relationship. And since he’s also so mischievous, he’d definitely put you in a ‘stuck in a closet together’-sort of situation! His enthusiasm gives your relationship to Gandalf a whole new spark ♡

･ﾟ✧ Legolas.

Legolas would weigh his reaction depending on how his Fellowship reacts to finally meeting you, with a healthy dose of care and caution at first. It never would’ve crossed his mind that Gandalf would be in a romantic partnership. But because of Legolas’ easy companionship and friendly demeanour, you two would quickly form a bond. Maybe he’d ask you about stories he heard of Gandalf, wanting your confirmation on whether or not they were true – and if you had anything to do with them, of course!

･ﾟ✧ Merry.

Though surprised to meet you, Merry understands perfectly why Gandalf would’ve kept your relationship a secret. It is dangerous, being with a powerful creature such as him. He’d be very polite around you, almost uncharacteristically so. He wants to get to know you better, testing the waters, so to speak, before he dives in more meaningful conversations.

･ﾟ✧ Pippin.

Pippin would initially feel a bit betrayed, I think. How could Gandalf, such an old friend of the Hobbits, keep such a secret to himself? Over time, he would understand the reasons as they are presented to him, be it against danger or simply for privacy’s sake. If Pippin had any negative feelings about how this unfolded, none of them are directed against you. On the contrary, the playful Hobbit gets along with you very well! Part of the reason might be that Gandalf doesn’t call him a fool when you’re around, but that remains to be seen once you join Pippin in the little pranks he likes to plan…

･ﾟ✧ Sam.

Maybe you wouldn’t be such a surprise at all to Sam! Somehow, he’d just always assumed that Gandalf must have someone, because that is his flowery worldview. He’d congratulate the two of you for having such a wonderful partner to call your own. He’s so charmed by your sweet relationship that he’d have to be reminded to not go tell the world about it! Sam is also the perfect person to craft the most elaborate flower gifts with you, so that you always have the right present for any occasion – even if you and Gandalf aren’t keen on presents.

･ﾟ✧ Bonus: Faramir.

Being Gandalf’s pupil, Faramir has spent a lot of time with your husband. However, learning of his mentor’s spouse came as quite a shock to him. It is needless to say he’d carry your secret to his grave if he was asked to, because he would not want either of you in danger because of him. He would be extremely respectful and gentle toward you, as he always is. He’d sometimes ask your opinion of something he learned from Gandalf, or small talk when he sees you, but overall, he’d keep your friendship almost professional. That said, he is really happy for his mentor to have such a wonderful partner and always happy when he gets the chance to meet you.

･ﾟ✧ Bonus Bonus Headcanons.

Though not 100% lore accurate, I like to imagine Gandalf with someone just as ancient as him, a fellow “wizard/witch” who he can confide in. Two Istari living their best lives!

Alternatively, I also love to think of him as the magical adviser to a kingdom, where he eventually becomes the secret partner of the lonely ruler who would go through fire and water for their old wizard.

Anything with Gandalf is all the “old married couple” sweetness you can think of: sincere terms of endearment, gentle and not-so-gentle bickering alike, knowing the other inside and out etc.

You could spend hours in silence with him and never get uncomfortable.

Gandalf is a very playful partner. He’d be the type to pretend he forgot your anniversary/birthday/name day when in reality, he has an entire party/special date planned just for you!

Just woke up, so hopefully you like it. And that it makes sense.

The idea of vampire y/n is an interesting concept because far as I can tell, vampires as we know them did not exist in Ancient Greece. Very much a middle/dark ages thing.

However, imagine that last battle with Ares went in a different direction, the curse Ares placed on y/n ends up keeping him half-alive, immortal and doomed to always crave blood and only able to travel at night since that when he died. 

For a while, he survived on deer and cattle and the like. Traumatized a handful farmers and shepherds along the way.

Once he realized in horror that he was tracking and hunting humans like he did animals, he sought out the goddess of the crossroads, sure that every other god would turn him away.

Hecate takes him under her wing once she realizes that he was genuinely horrified at the thought of eating people. 

So he becomes one of her attendants, helping her with various tasks. 

She likes that he isn’t chatty. He likes that she doesn’t ask personal questions. They would work together in silence for days. They don’t know a single thing about the other.

They are besties for that reason alone.

Hecate acts as a guild for Persephone and it becomes Y/N’ job to fight off any creatures that dare come near the goddess as she makes her journey.

During nights, Hecate would have Y/N guard Persephone and the garden.

y/n had resigned himself to never seeing his parents again. 

Meanwhile Zagreus is trying to help Achilles find his missing son (because with how long it's been, he should be here by now), they even get with Hypnos, checking the list over and over. 

It was purely by luck that Zagreus arrived at his mom’s garden when Y/N was there. 

Post game, Y/N now works in the house, both as a house guard and occasionally as a bodyguard for Queen Persephone. 

Hypnos is fascinated by this unusual creature. Y/n think hypnos look delicious.

So he woos Y/N by being his charming self. And letting the vampire nibble on him just a little bit.

And it works.

Another way I thought for Hypnos and Vamp!Y/N to meet is for them to meet during the events of the second game.

Y/n now have to help protect this little princess and this sleepy beauty. 

He would never admit to it but he was deeply fascinated by this god. Especially when he hears the tales from the god’s family.

he thought it was a shame that the god was asleep, everyone knew the princess could use someone who actually knew how to smile.

besides Odysseus, he doesn’t count. Not after he kept bugging Y/N with questions.

Eventually Hypnos wakes up and Y/N falls in love like a fool after the first horrible joke.

Random thoughts/HCs

Y/n’s fangs would be enlarged and hollowed, fixed in place. I think his venom would knock a victim out fairly quickly but he can control exactly how to inject and if careful, he can keep his victim in a docile, bubbly state of mind with an occasional nip/dose.

He was a strong and swift fighter before his change but once he had become a monster, he was able to easily keep even full grown bulls in place with a single hand as he ate.

his eyes changed as well, becoming catlike and losing the white of his eyes, the color now the same shade of his irises.

He can smell how healthy a person is. Shades smell almost dusty to him. A healthy mortal smell is a fresh, warm smell. 

some gods smell like rain, or earth. Thanatos smells like old dried flowers due to being a death god. Hypnos just smell warm, like sleeping bodies and a little sweet, honey-like.

Ichor is said to have the same qualities as ambrosia and nectar and I imagine it would taste delicious and won’t be toxic to a being who drinks blood.

He is also a sucker for a pretty smile and bad jokes.

So Hypnos is the personification of temptation.

I like to think at first Hypnos is so interested in Y/N but wouldn’t go near him at first, watching from a distance.

Eventually Hypnos’ curiosity get the better of him and once he realized that Y/N wouldn’t use him like a juice box they became friends( he is completely unaware of good he smells and constantly testing the limits of Y/N’s self control, hypnos also doesn’t know how many times he almost did become a juice box.) 

Spicy thoughts

Before getting together, I think Hypnos would be shameless about wanting to see Y/N’s fangs and when hanging out alone in hypnos’ room to do paperwork, he basically saddles Y/N’s lap and gets him to open his mouth. 

hypnos cupped Y/N’s face between his hands, his thumbs pressed in on the corner of Y/N’s mouth and he decided to wiggle in closer to get a better look. He was talking to y/n but y/n couldn’t hear a single word.

y/n’s hands are gripping the chaise for some form of control, very aware of how warm and soft Hypnos is. Hypnos’ scent is so heady, like honey and warmth and -

“hey, are you okay?” Hypnos asked, peering up at him, letting go of his face. Y/n’s eyes had changed, his pupils dilated, and he was staring at Hypnos. 

“You might want to get off.” Y/N warned, his voice deeper and husky. Hypnos blushed (and y/n had to bite back a groan at the sight) but didn’t move. 

“You told me you don’t lose control when feeding, right?” Hypnos whispered, his fingers brushing against Y/N’s chest. 

”not with animals.” Y/n growled, he knew that he should push Hypnos away, that he needed to leave. He didn’t move, his eyes locked on the god in his lap. 

Hypnos nodded, licking his lip nervously. “You always seem so in control.” And y/n wanted to laugh at that because surely hypnos must see how little control y/n had right now.

”You can if you want. You don’t need to drain me right?” Hypnos asked. “You only eat the blood of those fishes. So…” 

Y/n wanted to close his eyes but he couldn’t, he hadn’t blinked for a solid minute now. “Hypnos-“

the god held up his wrist, tugging the jewelry off. It looked so fragile, the vein dark and greenish under his skin. 

“Here and if you do become a problem, I will just put you down for a nap.” Hypnos teased, offering his wrist. Y/n’s hand moved without his permission, his eyes never leaving hypnos’ as he brought Hypnos’ wrist toward his mouth.

He didn't immediately bite in even though every instinct was screaming at him to do so. He brushed his lips along the fluttering pulse, quiet in his admiration of life itself, of Hypnos offering himself up.

did Hypnos even realize what he was offering? did y/n?

The first bite was gentle, his fangs so sharp that one didn’t feel it. Not at first. Then Hypnos winced but didn’t pull away. As y/n fed, an arm wrapped around Hypnos’ waist to keep him steady, hypnos was shuddering, gasping. 

He gasped out y/n’s name, flushed and breathless. And y/n felt like he was going insane in the best way possible. 

and they totally bang. lol 

Maybe y/n will get weakened powers similar to Hypnos and when he becomes a companion to Hypnos, becoming a symbol for the darker aspects of sleep like sleep paralysis and nighttime horrors.

Y/n has to limit how much he bites hypnos bc hypnos tries to get y/n to do it every single time. 

After feeding, y/n become  energetic and hypnos is the one who get to reap those benefits but it tends to last for a while due to the strength of ichor. Freshly fed y/n is a deadly force to be reckoned with.

All of their kids ended up with fangs even though they don’t need blood.

It’s Louis’ senior year, and he’s dead set on doing it right. However, along with his pair of cleats, a healthy dose of sarcasm and his ridiculous best friend, he’s also got a complicated family, a terrifyingly uncertain future, and a mortal enemy making his life just that much worse. Mortal enemies “with benefits” was not exactly the plan.

Or: The one where Louis and Harry definitely aren’t friends, and football is everything.

notes: BRACE YOURSELF FOR THE FIRST LINES OF THIS FIC other than that, i really enjoyed this story. A classic enemies to lovers and super funny. The story is told by Louis pov, but the author also later released the fic from Harry’s pov (bloodsport) and I’m still waiting for the epilogue :(

(Archive) Animated movie of the day: Chicken Run (2000)

Originally posted: January 17th, 2022 I can't believe we haven't even mentioned Aardman Animations when we have talked about stop motion. Compared to studios like Laika, which specialize in using puppets with rubber skin, Aardman's silly charm comes from their masterful use of plasticine and clay, which give the characters a higher level of maleability that shines the most in the facial expressions. Add to that a healthy dose of sardonic humor with a tint of black comedy and you get a very distinctively british flavor.

Given that the project started as a spoof of "The Great Escape", the premise is already on the tongue and cheek side. The execution, however, is arguably darker than one would expect. For a film that is still marketed for children the narrative is a lot more serious than it would look like at first glance, dealing with topics like suppression of free will, ||suicide||, complacency(which would be deadly in this case), transparency, along with many others, on top of having imagery that alludes directly to one of the most horrifying atrocities in human history(yes, I'm talking about ||the Holocaust||). And this is not even talking about Mrs. Tweedy. Who would've thought a farm owner could be so intimidating?

So yeah, the backbone of this movie is surprisingly grim, and many readings could be made of it. But you know? Despite having some serious themes and dark undertones, the movie is still hysterical. I mean, it's a group of chickens trying to escape a farm through increasingly ludicrous means. The movie will take every chance to make obvious, not so obvious and fairly esoteric jokes with this idea. And EVERYONE in the cast will be the butt of the joke at some point or another, including the surprisingly dignified lead Ginger. And his dumbass american cowboy parody of an eventual boyfriend(did I mention this film is british?).

For such a silly premise gone serious then silly again, it's pleasingly a VERY full experience.

Merrily We Roll Along review summary Part 1

Like precision code breakers, the team responsible for the revival of “Merrily We Roll Along” have cracked it.

The blessed contributions of Groff, Mendez and Radcliffe — in addition to Krystal Joy Brown, Katie Rose Clarke and Reg Rogers in crucial supporting roles — coalesce in a way that feels almost spiritual.

But when you’re hearing his music so beautifully realized — Radcliffe keeps up impressively with musical-theater prodigies Mendez and Groff — you grasp even more deeply the melodic and lyrical sophistication at work.

Groff’s transformation-in-reverse is a perceptive journey as well, from remorseful Hollywood sellout to star-struck starving artist, pressing his nose up against the window of fame and riches.

Ideally, this Broadway incarnation will be both a hit and a reflection of the higher aspirations of musical theater. It’s even tighter, funnier and more touching than what Friedman staged off-Broadway.

So much ingenuity. So much joyful creativity. So much for audiences to savor.

Kobi Kassal, Theatrely

Further, it's hard to go wrong when you have Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez above the title. The heart of the show lies with this trio whose genuine connection and truth shines out across the Hudson stage eight times a week. Groff, who has the charisma down pat, dazzles as Frank. When paired with Radcliffe’s Charley, filled with loveable charm, and Mendez’s Mary who is utterly gut-wrenching to watch as her true love slips away, this trio equals Broadway perfection.

Merrily marks the third Broadway revival of a Sondheim work since his death, in addition to the premiere of his final work, Here We Are, at The Shed. Many of his shows are beloved, but if you want a healthy dose of Broadway serotonin, get thee to the Hudson immediately. Truth be told, you don’t need to listen to the critics, and if you have gotten this far in the review, I think we are all on the same page. Some true theatre magic is happening on that stage, and for that we will forever be grateful.

It’s possible for Frank to swing and schmooze his way through this scene as the worst version of himself: “Who says, ‘Lonely at the top’? / I say, ‘Let it never stop!’” he sings to his crowd of sycophants. But Groff is an actor who’s able to communicate hurt and humanity even through a carapace of ego and moral deficiency. (In this way he reminds me of Matthew Macfadyen: Who among us has any business feeling empathy for Tom Wambsgans? And yet …) All through Merrily’s opening scene, Groff’s eyes are dead hollows — deep, dark wells with reservoirs of tears way down at the bottom, threatening to make their way up. He smiles, he sings, his body propels itself around the room, and he’s not there. His Frank is the worst version of himself, but he knows it, and he’s terribly alone and afraid. Watching Groff — who, as the show moves forward and backward, becomes visibly younger: driven, yes, but also sweet and earnest, almost puppyish — I thought of Chekhov’s successful, unprincipled writer Trigorin, who tells his lover: “I haven’t got any willpower. I never have had … Go on, take me, take me away with you. But please, don’t ever let me out of your sight.” Groff makes clear that Frank’s is a tragedy of weakness, not simply of greed.

And Charley! As the twitching, high-integrity, high-anxiety writer, Radcliffe is a complete delight. Next to Groff’s Frank, who’s tall, square-shouldered, and — at least outwardly — self-possessed, Radcliffe is a vibrating sprite, the kind of person whose big brain you can practically see smoking as it spins.

The enlivening pulse created by Radcliffe, Mendez, and Groff gains strength and drive through the production’s rock-solid ensemble. Gilmour (also the costume designer) dresses them in softly period, unified swaths of color as the play moves back in time — blues, then beiges, then, in the lavish, La Dolce Vita–ish early ‘60s, in hard black and white. There’s something smart happening here: Groff, as Frank, wears varyingly sophisticated versions of the same white shirt and black trousers throughout the show, but at the top of Act Two, as Gussie (not yet his wife) seductively introduces him to “The Blob” — a pulsating swarm of influentials, “the ones who know everyone that everyone knows” — Frank’s clothes match the company’s for the first time. He is, whether consciously or not, getting sucked into something. No — it already has him.

Some shows can withstand miscasting — turns out, Merrily can’t. (It’s often said that the casting of very young actors was a large part of the original production’s failure.) Even the big producer, Joe Josephson, who can come off as a Hollywood hack with dollar signs for pupils, is brought a sense of hangdog appeal by Reg Rogers. You get the feeling that Josephson is affable at heart, tired in soul, and that even he might have had ideals once. Friedman’s great insight — perhaps owing to her own long career onstage — is to have sought out actors she, and we, can entirely trust, and to trust them. (It sounds simple. It’s not.) She locates the play’s potential to be caring rather than callous not on the page but in the specific human beings who are here, doing this thing, right now. A central trio as sensitive and superb as this one doesn’t just make Merrily more moving; it makes it much more fun. It even adds a faint glimmer of something resembling hope. If Frank can reconsider, then he may yet change. Or he may not. But either way, an actor must show us, as Groff does, a true encounter with the mirror. With their irresistible energy and chemistry, Mendez, Groff, and Radcliffe lift Merrily up, yet keep it grounded with real, apparent affection and emotional heft. They are the ones reviving the play, by revealing and jump-starting its heart.

BG3 NPC-Oc's

Something I haven't seen much of (if any) yet in the BG3 fandom is Oc's that aren't Tav's. There's so much love for some of the NPC's that we all wish we could romance, (I'm looking at you, Zevlor, Rolan, Dammon ect) and such a wide variety of side quests and little interactions you can do with the existing NPC's that it feels like almost every playthrough you discover one you didn't realize you Could do something with.

The sheer breadth of the game leaves plenty of wiggle room to just...add your own. Romanceable, potential new companion, a flesh out to an area you wished you could have done more with in one particular area of the map?

So....my question is what kind of NPC Oc would you all make?

Disclaimer: There's a healthy dose of indulgent creative liberty with my NPC's quest triggers\backstory think of it as a What If for the game not something meant to fully mesh 100%.

Location in game: Underdark

Quest triggers: Freeing suspiciously intelligent runt phase spider from trap who offers to take you to "The Crafter" for a reward.

Stumbling on cache of coded paperwork in locked chest (pass an INT or WIS check to decode) that gives location of a safehouse "The Den".

Siding with the group of masked\disguised raiders that attack a Drow settlement to free a group of slaves.

Stage 2 (addition to camp) quest trigger: Coming back to the Den to trade only to find it raided, speaking with a survivor (or dead body) informs you that Mica was taken to Moonrise.

Freeing\Finding her along with the tiefling's and other captives at Moonrise offers a quest line depending on what kind of run your doing:

"Good" Run: Waking to find that she's snuck off in the middle of the night while still near to critically injured and Halsin has followed her.

Durge Run: Waking to find her hovering over you with her chains wrapped around your neck, (succeed on a STR or CHA check to convince her not to kill you)

Approval actions: Persuasion: using your charms to better your situation, Intimidation: dealing with upstarts or enemies, Deception: protecting your companions\allies, and Kindness choices, Ie: Helping the Mycanoids, Tieflings, Barcus Wroot, the deep Gnomes ect (you can ask for compensation but following through is key)

Disapproval actions: Unnecessary cruelty in dialog or actions, making promises you wont keep, choices that allow others to be exploited or their secrets outed.

Discoverable backstory:

Her family was secretly not affiliated with Lolth, their right of passage for its daughters on their coming of age birthday (100th) they have to find a good act to do to better the life of someone other Drow would deem lesser. Mica was on a trip with her mother to another city and saw a captive Halsin, turned to her mother and answered 'I know what I want for my birthday'. It then became her sole responsibility to make sure he was freed without it tracing back to her family as a test of her skills. 

Family’s fall from grace and her subsequent journey to becoming a sort of Robin Hood meets Powerloader (my hero) meets Captain Amelia (treasure planet) happens roughly fifty years after she freed him (In "Good Run" Durge style run is a different timeline with other...options >:3) next time she sees Halsin is in Moonrise.

Did a quick creation of an approximation of her current age of 300 and what she looked like when she would have first met Halsin at 100. And also have a spotify playlist

She's a Rebel, She's a Hippie, She's Hope

I started a little Fallout 4 fanfic to serve as some writing practice for Spring Tide Rebellion, and it kinda spiralled into a whole-ass hyper-fixation. Turns out I like writing just as much as I like drawing.

I heard there's a healthy writing community here on Tumblr, so I figured I'd cross-post it. You can also find it on Archive of Our Own.

It's a slow-burn romance between the Sole Survivor and Hancock, involving a flirting game, lots of character exploration, heaps of funny bullshit, and more fluff than a bus full of bunnies.

Also, some moments which will play your heartstrings like a sad violin, because one doesn't get to experience nuclear apocalypse without a healthy dose of trauma.

Hope. Her name was pure irony, given the state of the world she woke up to.

She had always despised Vault-Tec, with their shiny, corporate, sickeningly cheerful take on the spectre of nuclear apocalypse. It was her brother, Nate, who had written her name down on that list. She’d argued. But when the bombs started falling, she ran for the vault, just like everyone else.

It was there she'd meet a flirtatious ghoul whose charm and wit would light a fire in her soul, and whose own desire to help the people of the Commonwealth would show her the apocalypse could be about thriving, not just surviving.

It turns out the counter-cultural spirit lived on, and it survived in a ghoul named John Hancock.

A few extra notes about this story:

🔥 My take on Hancock's appearance is closer to his concept art. He's not been a ghoul for very long, he still has a nose and hair. (I use the 'Sexy Hancock' mod in-game.) He's got those soulful black eyes, though.

🌿 I also like my nuclear apocalypse to come with that overgrown Chernobyl vibe, so the Commonwealth is more of a wilderness than a wasteland.

✨ Hope is Shaun's aunt here - she was a little too footloose for the whole white-picket-fence vibe pre-war. You'll see why.

🔪 The first part - with jolly ol' Finn at the gate - has been done a hundred times in a hundred fics, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. I know I always get a kick out of reading how other people write it.

💕 The flirting starts in Chapter 2 and doesn't stop thereafter. And yes, it will get steamy later on. 😉

A game show to win, a fake boyfriend, and two guys falling in love. Holden James is about to ask his longtime boyfriend to join him in an audition for his favorite game show, Madcap Market, except his boyfriend dumps him and kicks him out... leading to Holden having a bit of a meltdown and destroying the minibar in a Los Angeles Hotel. Yet what Holden never expects is that the very hot concierge offers to grab pizza with him and maybe even a kiss. Cue, Leo Min, a gorgeous, funny guy who somehow worms his way into Holden's heart. Holden and Leo connect and when Leo gets fired, Holden asks him to be his partner in Madcap Market. The cash prize would help him and Holden would get the chance to be on the show he loved to share with his mom who had passed away. They both agree that they have enough chemistry to be a fake couple for the show... yet its beginning to feel very real. To his ultimate surprise, Holden discovers that his ex, who had dumped him and disliked the show, is now a contestant of the show and he wants to get revenge against Holden. Holden and Leo are now trying to win a competition but also figure out the very real feelings between them. This was a cute and steamy read featuring a game show. It was fun and overall a good time. Holden and Leo were a cute couple and this was a fast and easy read. I'd definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a quick steamy cute rom com.

Title: "The Genius, The Kids, and The Misunderstandings"

As they work alongside the seasoned superheroes, they witness Tony Stark's brilliance, quick thinking, and unmatched technological prowess. The kids are in awe of him, but the rest of the team seems to take Tony for granted.

Chapter 2: Everyday Shenanigans

In their everyday lives, Kamala, Peter, and Harley find themselves in amusing situations that highlight their unique abilities and personalities. Kamala's shapeshifting abilities lead to humorous misunderstandings at school, Peter's double life as Spider-Man creates hilarious mix-ups with his classmates, and Harley's knack for tinkering results in comical inventions gone wrong.
