This might be weird but I really like that your Sims have some…texture to them, for lack of a better word? Like a lot of people use facemasks that smooth and airbrush and I personally like it when they look more like average people rather than photoshopped celebrities? If that makes sense? (btw i use your Adonis overlay on probably 50% of my boys tysm for that)

aww thank you so much for liking my overlay, i'm so glad! i see my silver fox overlay in my notes a lot, but adonis doesn't pop up often, i'm happy to know someone makes a good use of it :)

and yes, what you say makes a lot of sense. my sims are still not realistic looking, but i have a couple of tricks to make them less smooth and maintain a comfortable balance between cartoonish and realistic:

i add low opacity swatches to face overlays. face masks by some creators are beautiful, but too rubbery for my taste, so i add their swatches with 70% and 40% opacity, and they give sim's face the same sculpt as originals do, but the texture underneath can still be seen, and because i have a default skin with somewhat textured lips (calypso by aloeislands), the face looks more detailed. i'm a big fan of lower opacity everything, to be honest.

i use many small details like eyebags, tiny wrinkles, subtle freckles, and moles, and circles under eyes, and those amazing blushes with uneven skin effect. "use smooth maxis skin and detailed genetics" is literally the best advice i have.

would u or ur followers happen to know of any tutorials for making default skins after the october patch?

Hm I never made a default skin. And I haven’t seen any new tutorials. But I assume when you tried you couldn’t make it work so my guess is you would need a old file to extract textures. But like I said it is just a guess on my part.

Anyone who knows a updated tutorial, please share. Thank you!

I would say so! In terms of gameplay flow, it’s unlike the other sim games. It plays more like an RPG with quests as opposed to the complete open-ended, true sandbox style that we’re used to. So, if you’re into more goal-oriented, structured gameplay, then yes, I would say that it’s worth it. I love RPGs, so it’s right up my alley! But if you go in there thinking it’ll be just like ts4 except now it’s ye olde, you’ll be sorely disappointed. 

tldr; if you’re into RPGs, yes.

could u guys provide alt links to ur downloads? sfs is not reliable or consistent

We can provide alt links for the files we personally upload but we can not require the recolorists to provide alt links unless they want to do that themselves.

kind of wcif but not really, do you use a default skin at all or just overlays on top of vanilla ea skin?

i use calypso by aloeislands as default

been using it for years, and at this point i'm tired of it and want to use none, but i'm worried about how my sims will look without, i'll need to check everyone first, because all my face overlays aren't opaque and having a different default will change everyone's appearance.

if not for that worry, i would use none now. i used to dislike vanilla maxis skin for being too rough, but now i appreciate how each facial feature preset has it's own overlay (maxis face texture is basically a lego), and i can always smoothen the roughness with overlays.
