[ part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7 | part 8 | part 9 | part 10 | part 11 ]
“I’m sorry”, your voice echoed in Baekhyun’s mind as he drove. To nowhere, he never wants to get anywhere, just- he just felt like running away, so maybe he’d make up his mind about you, about himself. What kind of person he became, all of a sudden, for you. Not that he ever strived to be like that, he just couldn’t help himself.
Now, he has to make up his mind and if you’re not gonna let go of him. Maybe he has to do this himself. It’d be the best. When you leave for college, he’s gotta stay. He’ll take the old man Kim business and make the best out of it. You’re not part of the equation in this, you’ll get hurt- or worse. Baekhyun can’t afford having you hurt because of what he decided to be when you tried to make something better out of him.
When Baekhyun pulls over, he’s not quite sure where he is, but when he comes to it, he looks around and finds himself in his old neighborhood. Where he was raised, when Mr. Kim was just a nice single-man next door, Suho’s dad. Back then, he wasn’t wasn’t a complete self-centered jerk. They were friends. The six of them, Jongdae, Minseok, Suho, Yixing, Baekhyun himself and... Chanyeol too.
>
But- That’s when Chanyeol was his closest friend, even more than Jongdae. Back then, he wasn’t the worthless bastard who belonged to a family of gangster, people believed he could’ve done well. Baekhyun could handle anyone. There’s so many guys you could choose, Baekhyun would’ve accepted better - or, at least, he likes to think he would. Just not Chanyeol, it’s been enough to pretend Chanyeol’s nothing a classmate and now he has to see you with him, being happy as he wishes he could make you.
Baekhyun tried before, he tried convincing himself to stop this relationship or whatever anyone would call it. Whatever you call it. He sincerely thought it’d be better for you to find someone who could make you happy without having to walk hidden in shadows and corners here and there, but, he knows, he’s too selfish. Maybe as much as you’re being, maybe more because this isn’t him just accepting what you want, this is him not being able to say no because he just can’t let go.
The sound of the keys and the wooden door opening calls Baekhyun attention and he turns his head to see Chanyeol walking in the old house he moved from, the house the six boys use to cause trouble before being called for lunch or dinner, being called out to sit down and study first before playing outside. Chanyeol’s eyes find his, staring from inside the car, somehow and he stops right before going in the house.
Baekhyn can almost see the wheels turning in Chanyeol’s head, but he can’t get himself to do anything about it. He could always simply drive away. Finally, he sees Chanyeol sighing heavily and pulling the door closed.
‘Please, don’t.’ Baekhyun thinks to himself, feeling his body tensing, ‘Just pretend you didn’t see me.’ , Baekhyun pleads, hands clenching on the steering wheel, ‘Just go home and ignore me, Why are you such a-’
“What a dumb bastard!” Baekhyun grumply murmurs to himself as he sees Chanyeol approaching him directly.
Baekhyun sighs once again and forces himself off his Baby . Chanyeol’s still in his school uniform, hands stuck in the front pockets of his jacket, he looks nothing but what a high-achieving high schooler would look. ‘The bastard is even good looking and charming’, Baekhyun thinks to himself with a hidden laughter, ‘He suits her’, he adds bitterly to himself soon after.
“It’s been a while.” Chanyeol says awkwardly when he stops. Baekhyun hums and nods positively as he leans on his car.
Baekhyun sees Chanyeol gathering breath, as if he’d say something, but then he just exhales at once, looking away and hisses to himself.
“What?” Baekhyun asks, crooking his head to the side and Chanyeol looks back at him.
“Nothing” Chanyeol replies at first and there’s a pause and Baekhyun allows it because Chanyeol seems to have words stuck in his throat, whatever they are. He’d like to hear it, “Just-”
‘Ah~ There they are-’ Baekyun thinks to himself as Chanyeol starts.
“When-” Chanyeol exhales again in frustration and takes a step closer, hesitantly, “You know, when I got back and saw you in class I thought, ‘well, maybe we could be friends again’ . But, if I tried to get any closer you just disappeared, everyday. You just disappeared from the classroom.”
Baekhyun would keep this secret that’s now dear to him as much as it was back then. He disappeared to meet you, he was always so eager to embrace you. Still is.
“All you do is using Mr. Kim’s fame as a gangster to push people away?”
“This time it’s true, though” Baekhyun says simply.
“Oh, so- You couldn’t even say hello. Just once?”
“What for? Because we played together when we were kids?” Baekhyun scoffs, shaking his head, “All it’d do is earn you a bad reputation and side-glares for talking to me”, Baekhyun says calmly, “As soon as they heard we used to be close you’d go from top student to gangster minion like this! ” Baekhyun snaps his fingers.
“Oh, I see” Chanyeol laughs to himself, “And here I thought we could still be friends. I’m just that stupid”
“You are.”
Chanyeol hums in reply and takes another step closer and now they’re way too close, so Baekhyun chuckles.
“What’s wrong with the distance we had a moment ago.” Baekhyun mocks, “You miss me so much that you need to take a better look?” He says playfully, mannering his head as if to give Chanyeol a better angle to take a picture, “You’re talking to me now. Is that anything you’d like to say?”
“Yes” Chanyeol replies readily, “There were some things I wanted to tell you. I wanted us to talk about many things, but now- Now! There’s just one thing that I need to ask.”
“What is it?” Baekhyun asked even though he could tell his old friend’s eyes what would it be, so he ready himself to how the question would come along.
“Y/n” Chanyeol started, not knowing how else to do so and licks his lips, uncertain of how to go on, “About Y/n. Actually, this is backwards-”, Chanyeol says the second part more to himself than to Baekhyun and the later waits, “You made a mess in school today. I heard them saying you could get kicked out and we’re almost graduating. So why? Why did you do all of that for Y/n? What’s so wrong about Y/n and I being a couple? Why can’t it be true? Do you like her?”
The words just poured out of Chanyeol’s lips and by the end his eyes prickled with hidden tears, he just didn’t want to have this conversation in the first place. When someone rushed to him to say what was going on he rushed to see what really was it about, then he heard Baekhyun and the desperation, and anger in his friend’s voice pained him somehow in more than one way. He still can’t understand, he can’t grasp, but he knows he didn’t like the fact that Baekhyun just couldn’t like you as someone started gossiping.
Chanyeol’s last question lingers in the air, tasting bitter on his own tongue as he runs out of breath to speak anymore. Chanyeol likes you- a lot , it’s different than any other times he liked anyone else and he doesn’t want to face anyone who seems willing to have you too. He’s not sure if he’s a coward, maybe he’s unsure of himself. Should he tell you how much he likes you already, the two of you seemed to be moving slowly, you seem to enjoy doing so, but maybe he should pick up a certain pace. Baekhyun isn’t someone to just take things slow, that much Chanyeol’s certain.
Baekhyun stops himself from frowning or exposing how he can read Chanyeol’s thoughts in his expression. Chanyeol just doesn’t change, as he thought. Pulling himself away from the car, Baekhyun straightens his body only making all the more obvious how small he is compared to Chanyeol, thankfully he’s standing on a slightly higher side of the hill. Which is almost nothing, but at least something . Like what you give him.
Once again Baekhyun considers just saying it all. Taking you for himself and get this over with. He’d do whatever it takes to keep you safe, so what’s the matter. It’s just a matter of seconds when a movie goes before his eyes where he can take you with him and everything will work out like a miraculous magic trick. He can do anything as long as you’re there, so why not?
“Yes” Baekhyun replies and Chanyeol breathe is caught in his throat, “I like Y/n”, Baekhyun adds, watching Chanyeol hiccups and step back, much to his pleasure.
Should he say it all now, then. When Chanyeol looks like lost, hurt puppy, eyes wandering everywhere but him.
“I think I should have her instead of you” Baekhyun says boldly, watching Chanyeol look at him with wide eyes, “I got a bastard in my family instead of you. Mr. Kim married my mom instead of yours, so… I got the weak end of the rope on that, so- Just think of Y/n as compensation.” Bekhyun tries sounding as emotionless as he can while Chanyeol watches him in disbelief, “She’ll be the good thing you own me. We’ll be even then”
“Baekhyun, you-” Chanyeol is cut by his own breathless state and as soon as he recoverse he chuckles pathetically, “Who do you think you are to demand to have a person as compensation? You’re just some high schooler! Are you crazy?”
“Some high-schooler” Baekhyun mocks with a sick grin prying his lips, before laughing loudly to himself. Chanyeol looks around, startled and sees a few lights in the neighborhood light up.
“Are you crazy? It’s late! You're gonna wake up the whole neighborhood.”
“Why? Afraid to be seen with a gangster?”Baekhyun asks, “Look closely, Yeol! At us! You and me.” Baekhyun mentions to Chanyeol and then his own self, pulling on Chanyeol’s uniform, before tugging on his long coat, the clothes fit him, but they are way too unfitting for a kid his age and Baekhyun knows it well, “ You’re the high-schooler here. I’m a real gangster. Mr. Kim- Ah, no! Dad is giving me a lot of confidence lately, there’s nothing I can’t do~”
“So?” Chanyeol asks, trying to look at Baekhyun’s eyes, “You wanna treat Y/n like Mr. Kim treats the people he used to play around with before discarding like trash? Is that it?”
“I told you, didn’t I?” Baekhyun insists, “I like Y/n.” He says more clearly this time, “If you don’t have the confidence, then just let me have what I deserve.”
Baekhyun pulled the car’s door open and hopped inside. He couldn’t say it afterall, that’s all Baekhyun could think as he watched Chanyeol become smaller as he drove away. It’s better this way, he thinks. Chanyeol watched him drive by with a heavy heart. If only the year just ended and you and him could take off to college right away. Away from Baekhyun.

Try Me
Namjoon x Reader // College!AU, Rugby!AU // 12.8k words
Summary: You wanted nothing more than to leave behind your old self when you graduated from high school and moved on to college to play rugby but when you see your high school classmate, resident fuckboy and captain, Kim Namjoon, at the rugby department orientation, you feel like everything might fall apart.
Genre: Fluff
A/N: lmao soz for the weird header but I couldn’t find a good gif. Anyway, this was once supposed to be part of a collab but I’ve since revamped it and I hope you guys like it!! this one’s mainly for @hijoonie who sent me numerous encouraging messages when I talked about how inadequate I felt compared to those other bigger writers (’: I hope you like it!!
Part 2 // Part 3
Forgettable. A single word that encapsulated who you were. You drifted in and out of high school, always in class, always present at practice yet whenever your name was mentioned, the usual response is a short pause before they say something along the lines of, oh right, her… I think I’ve seen her around before…
It wasn’t that the people in your school were overtly unfriendly in any way but you had come in to the school halfway through sophomore year, the only new face they had seen in years and the stares you got made you feel so out of place. Just about everyone had their own group of friends and it just seemed like there was no space for you or at least that’s what you told yourself. You hated the move to this new town, to be uprooted from the place you had called home for so many years and you were so, so bitter. Dread was all you felt whenever you woke up in a house that wasn’t familiar and gloom was all that surrounded you when you walked on a path to a school you didn’t recognise.
Your classmates were excited of course, about Y/N the new transfer student but you didn’t seem to share in that emotion, always trying to push them away. You didn’t want to like this town and so, subconsciously you were trying to make it seem like this school was a horrible place. It was an almost masochistic way of living, if you will. Slowly, your classmates gave up on trying to include you in their conversations because they weren’t going to waste their time on someone who just wanted to be left alone.
Year after year, you sat in your seat, letting yourself stew in thoughts about how much better your life would’ve been if you hadn’t moved, hatred brewing within you with each passing day. Wake up, school, homework, sleep, repeat. That was all you did for 3 years. In a way, you weren’t really making the most out of your time at high school. You were simply drifting through life, trying your best to get through high school unscathed. Sad. It’s the only word that could describe what you were but you only had you and your stubbornness to blame.
You had no friends, only acquaintances. You had no crazy nights out that your parents would never hear about, only quiet movie nights with you and well… yourself. It didn’t bother you much though that you didn’t have that typical high school life, that you didn’t have friends that people always say you would have for life. It was quiet, living the way you did but really, you didn’t mind having to be alone… Although, you had to admit that you hated feeling lonely.
Just two more years,
Just another year,
Just a few more months,
is what you’d tell yourself. You were always looking to the future for happiness, never choosing to create happiness in the present.
That’s not to say you never felt happy during your time at school, you did… but those moments were few and far in between. Actually, there really only was one place where you felt genuinely happy and that was out on the field. Every time you tie your laces and don your jersey, you felt like you mattered. That for 80 minutes, you weren’t so forgettable.
You’re not sure what it was, whether it was your teammates calling out for you by your name, your coach on the sidelines cheering you on or your last name ringing around the PA system every time you scored but all you knew was that in those 80 minutes it felt like your presence made a difference.
You were described as wasted talent, a player with so much potential playing with a sub-par team that only dragged you down. The women’s rugby team forever lived in the shadows of your school’s men’s team but that didn’t bother you much because you didn’t play to gain fame. Rugby was your ticket out of this godforsaken town and as long as you played your best, you hoped that it would somehow pay off. Even so, it still baffled you how the school seemed to kiss the feet of the men’s rugby team, hailing their captain as some God while you were merely just another face in the crowd. Being the captain of the women’s rugby team meant nothing but being the captain of the men’s rugby team was everything. Then again, maybe that was because the men’s team had earned more trophies in one year than your team ever did in 3 years.
Kim Namjoon. Captain of the boy’s rugby team. Boy genius and fuckboy extraordinaire. Your interactions with him were few and far in between and most of the time they were barely memorable. The dimpled boy was far too occupied most of the time to give you the time of the day anyway. Girls would fawn over him for his good looks, trying anything to get his attention while you admired him from afar, not for his appearance but for his talent.
Namjoon was clumsy, often getting into trouble for all the little accidents that he’s been involved in but put Namjoon on a rugby field and all of a sudden it was like he was someone else. That goofy smile he often wore would disappear the moment he put on his boots, replaced with a steely hardened expression instead. The moment the team stood in a line, his mind would work overtime, thinking of stats, possible plays, all this before the game even started. He was a genius, surprising even his coach by the way he would get his team to outsmart the opponents in dire situations and as if that wasn’t enough he was one hell of a kicker. The boy never missed. Never. Okay, he did once and that was only because he had decided to play the game despite everyone telling him to rest his ankle that he had hurt a few days ago in practice. Truly, he was unbelievably stubborn. That was another quality that made him a great player. A frustrating player to deal with and an even more frustrating friend but it was a quality that many felt made him who he was. In any case, he was truly a delight to watch and you attended the games, watching intently. Your eyes were usually trained only on him and of course it didn’t help that his thighs looked oh so delectable in those damn rugby shorts.
For what it was worth, Namjoon always did pique your interest. You always felt like out of everyone in this school, he’d be someone you wouldn’t mind getting to know better but you and him were far too different though. With his exam scores, just about any university would be dying to have him while with your mediocre grades, you really only had rugby going for you. Then of course came the vast difference in both your respective social lives. He was the life of the party while you were never within a 20-metre range of one, save for the one time you actually attended one… a night filled with regrets is what you remember it by. Never again, you told yourself.
Despite Namjoon’s social status, he never really was one to make another person feel singled out and you liked that about him. He was a bit of an oddball, you’ve noticed. He seemed to have two sides of him; one that would jump around screaming chants with the dudebros and the other that seemed like a 60-year-old trapped in a teenager’s body, or at least that’s what you’ve gathered from sharing a few classes with him.
Being on complete opposite ends of the high school hierarchy, the two of you had no reason really to speak to each other. The only time you ever had a full conversation with him was the one time he ended up causing you to twist your ankle just a week before graduation. It was a complete accident and it really wasn’t too big of a deal. School was almost over, meaning rugby season was definitely over and there was nothing some rest and a pack of ice couldn’t fix but he had been so remorseful by the end of the incident that you felt he needed more comforting than you did.
That was the one and only time you ever spoke to him, his soft pleads for you to forgive him and the endless amount of swear words that left his mouth, cursing himself for being so clumsy. You laughed, telling him it was alright and as his eyes flit up to meet yours, you can’t help but notice how he looked absolutely adorable with his eyebrows knitted and the cutest frown you had ever seen.
“It’s Y/N right?” He asks. “God, I’m so sorry,” Namjoon groans.
“It’s alright, really,” You smile.
“How about I give you a ride home to make it up to you? We can stop for ice cream too, just to show you how sorry I am,“ He offers, a nervous smile on his lips as he glances between your swollen ankle and your face.
You turn him down with a light laugh, opting instead to take the bus like you normally do. You try your best to hide your limp from him as you walk away, putting your full weight on your foot despite the heavy pain that shoots up your leg with each step and you turn back just in time to watch him wave you goodbye with a sad smile on his face.
On the bus ride home, you thought about how your first conversation with him had turned out to be a memorable one, only to you at least because you were sure that was one of the last few times you were going to see him and definitely the last time you ever spoke to him. You know that by tomorrow or by the end of the week when graduation comes around, he wouldn’t even remember your face let alone your name.
Leaving high school felt like a dream and you thought nothing could ever beat the elation you felt as you tossed your little black hat towards the sky but then came your acceptance letter to the national sports university, with a scholarship to boot and your heart soared. You sent in your application, with fingers crossed, hoping that a girl like you from some no name high school would finally get a chance to train with the best of the bests because the truth was you didn’t want to be trapped in this town, working behind a cashier till until the day you die.
A new city, a new place, a new you. You were so ready to turn a new leaf, to embody a different persona. This time you were going to be remembered. This time, if you were missing in class, someone was going to notice. This time, you were going to be someone who mattered. You didn’t want to hide in a corner and be known as that quiet girl. You wanted to be outgoing, to be the type of person that could light up a party, the type of person that made people turn their heads at. With nobody from your past to judge you, you think just maybe you could make it happen.
The first half of orientation week passes by in a blur. You were beginning to settle in, to really enjoy yourself. The girls in your dorm were more welcoming than ever and your roommate, Umji was quite possibly the most relaxed person you had ever met. For the first time in forever you felt that just maybe, you belong here. You’ve never laughed so much in your life or enjoyed yourself at a party the way you did here. It was all going well, maybe a little too well.
Come the first week of official training, you’re sat in the department’s hall, listening to mandatory speeches and introductions. You’re sat at the far left amongst some girls you had met at the dorm just a few days ago. There was a buzz of excitement in the room, everyone eager to finally be able to step out on the grass for some long-awaited training.
The short meeting ends and everyone is given the chance to mix and mingle. You knew you had said that you wanted to be more outgoing but standing here, next to your seniors, you could only watch on in awe as you match them to the pictures on the walls. Group photo after group photo, in all of them a trophy is being raised above the captain’s head. You dream of the day you get to make it onto the wall, to see some freshman look at your picture with the same admiration.
Your friends drag you along making you meet freshmen and seniors alike and you oblige, making small talk with whoever that joined the group. Taking a deep breath, you let your eyes sweep around the room, letting the fact that yes you had made it, that it was really you that was here standing in the middle of the hall you had always wanted to be in. Out of the corner of your eye, you see someone waving frantically, a sound reminiscent of that of your name being called out but the loud chatter from the hall makes it difficult for you to discern.
Y/N!
Your eyes snap immediately to the boy that’s waving at you from the other side of the hall. His lips curve up into a smile as your eyes meet his and your heart sinks. Oh no. The familiar sight of the dimpled boy felt like a ton of bricks suddenly dropped on you but you brush off the feeling to send a polite nod his way before turning your attention back to the group of girls in front of you.
What in the hell was he doing here?
Last you heard, he was well on his way to the top university in Seoul so why was he here?
You’re on edge, slightly afraid that he was going to come over but he doesn’t and before you know it, the coaches were announcing the end of the event, a loud clap signaling dismissal. With that, you’re one of the first out of the hall, claiming you had some forms to fill out in the administration building but really, you’re only running to put as much space between you and Namjoon as possible.
You’re not sure why you’re acting this way. It’s not like he bullied you or anything of the sort but you had worked so hard the past few weeks to create this image for yourself and you were finally getting settled into it, getting comfortable but seeing him just made it feel like you were never going to be able to escape from the person that you were in the past. That you were forever going to be the girl not worth remembering.
You manage to go a week without running into Namjoon, not even seeing him around campus or in the dining hall but it’s Friday night and tonight is the night where the university was holding a dinner to welcome all the new students. You guess a week was a pretty long time and the streak was bound to come to an end but that doesn’t mean you’re any less anxious to see him.
You arrive at the dinner early hoping to get a seat somewhere far away from Namjoon and you think maybe you should’ve came late instead because what are the odds of having the last few empty seats be one that would be next to or in front of Namjoon? Well, it was too late for that, you were already here. You open the double doors that lead to the event hall situated in the union building at the heart of campus and you find a few eager students already seated, all sitting in random spots rather than next to each other… which was weird to say the least. You glance down the long tables, finding a suitable spot and a moment of realization hits you when you find names neatly printed on tiny triangle tents.
You make your way down and up the rows of long tables and you finally find your name somewhere a little off the centre of the middle table. You plop yourself down on the plush chair and pull the table napkin onto your lap as you admire the table décor. Glancing at the name cards next to you, you find Umji on your right and another girl on your team, Sana on your left and you smile to yourself, glad that you had decent company for the night. Next, you reach over across you flipping the name card in your hand to find the name Kim Namjoon, printed in italics. What are the odds, you sigh. You guess your luck had really run out this time.
Looking around the room, you find the other students busy with their phones, none of them paying you any attention. Quickly, you rise to your feet. With Namjoon’s name card in hand, you shuffle down along the row, almost close to the end to replace his name card with another. There’s a light click against the floor, a man coming into full view, a threatening look on his face and jug of water in his hand. He clears his throat before he lets out a heavy sigh.
“Excuse me miss, there will be no switching of places,” He states plainly, as if he had said this very line 100 times now.
“Right, of course, sorry,” You apologize with a smile.
Feeling dejected, you trudge back to your seat, placing back the name card in its rightful place. The waiter follows closely behind you as he pours water into your cup once you’re seated. Even as he makes his way down the table to fill the glasses of those who’ve just arrived, he keeps a watchful eye on you, worried that you’d try to switch the cards again, like the many before you who have tried doing the same.
Soon, the hall fills up, people slowly trickling in. You wave at Umji when you notice her looking a little lost, squinting at the name cards on the table. She perks up when she hears you shouting her name and quickly makes her way to you, dragging Sana who was looking just as lost with her.
“Damn, this dinner really is fancy,” Umji marvels at the elegant cutlery on the table once she’s seated, her fingers coming up to feel the maroon cloth that was draped over the table.
“What else did you expect when the invitation said formal wear?” You question.
“I don’t really know but definitely not this,” Umji mumbles, reaching forward to look at the name card placed across hers. Lee Taeyong. Interesting, she muses. She places the card back and reaches for the one next to his. Kim Namjoon.
“Lucky you!” Sana squeals from your other side as she puts the name card opposite hers back into place. “You’ve got the hottie everyone’s been talking about.”
If only she knew what you’d give to have anyone but him sit in front of you. Umji passes the name card to you and you glance up for a while to find the same union staff glaring at you, wagging his index finger at you before pointing for you to put it down. This guy takes his job too seriously, you sigh.
“What’s his problem?” Sana queries, sending an equally rude glare back at the waiter.
“I tried switching the name cards earlier and ever since he’s been watching me like a hawk.”
“Which one? Namjoon’s?” Sana asks, a confused expression on her face.
“Yeah,” You sigh. “I—”
“Are you crazy? Why would you want to switch his card with someone else’s?” Umji interrupts, her hands flying everywhere, as if the notion of you not wanting to sit across Namjoon was simply incredulous.
“We went to the same high school and it’s just… awkward seeing him again.”
“The same high school!?” Sana shouts and you wince away at the volume of her voice.
“Yes,” You answer hastily, avoiding the look she was giving you.
“Why would you withhold such vital information from me? From us?” Sana questions, gesturing between her and Umji.
“It’s not like I was keeping it a secret or anything… It just never came up,” You shrug. “I don’t see why it’s such a big deal anyway.”
“Not a big deal,” Umji scoffs. “Of course it is! This means you can confirm if all those rumours about him are true. You’ve heard the rumours haven’t you?”
Ah yes, the rumours. Campus has only been open for two weeks and yet somehow rumours about Namjoon had spread like wildfire. Tales about his good looks, his intelligence and of course his skills… both in rugby and much to your disgust, in bed too. It was entertaining of course to see how the rugby department and even those outside of, was so taken by the boy you had seen almost every day at school for 3 years. It shouldn’t surprise you really… He had managed to garner just as much attention back at high school and it would be foolish for you to think it would be any different here.
“Uh yeah, I guess…” You mumble. “He’s smart and good at rugby—”
“Yeah, whatever, that shit’s not important,” Sana interrupts, waving at you dismissively. “What we’re really interested in is… is he packing? Is his dick really that long? I heard even when flaccid it’s about—”
“Jesus, how the fuck would I know that?” You exclaim, interrupting her because you’re pretty sure you’re not interested in knowing how long his dick was, be it flaccid or erect.
“You said you went to high school with him!”
“And? Just because I did doesn’t mean I’ve seen his dick in person.”
“You mean you didn’t sleep with him? You had someone like him in your class and you didn’t try to get with him?” Umji questions.
“No?”
“Are you a celibate?”
“No, I just—”
“Okay, so you’re just crazy then,” Umji remarks.
“Wait, what? I just wasn’t interested,” You mumble.
“Like I said, crazy.”
“I don’t understand how me not wanting to—”
“You’re trying to say you didn’t think about hopping on his D? Not even once?” Sana asks.
“No, I didn’t. I—”
“Not even for a millisecond?”
“No,” You reiterate, your tone firmer this time because this was just getting ridiculous. “I—”
“You’re right, she’s crazy,” Sana nods.
“Right?”
“Christ, will y’all ever let me speak?” You exclaim with an exasperated groan, the two girls finally fall silent, waiting for you to voice out your thoughts. Just then, a large group of boys walk alongside your table, a few of them taking their seats in your section.
“Well..?” Sana prompts when you choose to stay silent.
“There are—” You shift your eyes to the confused men sat down along the table. “—people,” You whisper.
“I’m sure they won’t mind listening.”
“No, it’s fine. We can talk later,” You quickly reply, a slight blush beginning to bloom at the attention that the three of you were getting.
“What were you guys talking about?” The boy in front of Umji, Taeyong, asks.
“Namjoon’s d—”
“Diligence! Namjoon’s diligence!” You exclaim frantically completing Umji’s sentence for her. “So, nothing that interesting really…” You laugh nervously.
The boy shrugs at you, not wishing to get himself involved in whatever the hell the three of you were doing.
“Just know that we aren’t done with this conversation,” Umji whispers, a sly smirk on her face.
You let out a deep breath as a new topic of conversation is started, the boys across the table happily chatting with both Sana and Umji. You drop in a few sentences here and there after letting your blush subside, nodding along as you listened to them speak.
More and more people begin pouring into the hall, the start of the dinner soon approaching. Within minutes, you notice that most of the table has been filled up, every single seat taken… except for the very one before you. The lights begin to dim, the loud chatter dying into quiet whispers and you relax into your seat, hopeful that maybe lady luck was on your side today, that Namjoon had decided not to show up after all.
It’s speech after boring speech, video after video about the history behind the school’s name, the mission and vision of the school. You’re not sure how much longer you can tolerate the same monotonous voice saying basically the same thing but in 50 different ways. If you weren’t so hungry, you would’ve long fallen asleep. A glance down the table shows that just about everyone was feeling the same, a chorus of gurgling stomachs ringing around the room.
After one final video, the tables are released in batches starting from the front of the room to the back. Students hurriedly rush to the buffet laid out and start scooping generous amounts of food onto their plate. You wait in silence as your table finally gets the signal to go ahead and grab some food and a collective groan of relief sounds from all of you sat at the table.
By the time you reach the end of the buffet line, you barely have enough space to fit dessert on your plate but hell you fit it on there anyway. Sana, Umji and yourself are almost running back to the table, already plotting to wolf down whatever was on your respective plates in order to be able to go back for seconds.
When you place your plate down and set yourself down on your seat, you hear the chair opposite you squeak. Your head perks up to find the familiar dimpled boy with a mountain of food on his plate.
“Y/N,” He smiles and you return it nervously before turning your attention to your food. Damn it. So lady luck wasn’t on your side then, you sigh.
“What the hell? Did you just get here?” Taeyong questions as he places his plate on the table.
“Yup, joined the queue right behind all of— What the fuck? Stop stealing my fries!” Namjoon groans.
“You didn’t sit through the 2 hour shit-show that we had to endure so I don’t think you deserve any of the food on your plate.”
There’s a chorus of agreeing murmurs down the table and Namjoon simply scowls as he watches those around him help themselves to the food piled on his plate.
Once most of you have a fair amount of food in your system, the atmosphere around the table starts to lighten up. Friendly banter is exchanged and a variety of topics are discussed amongst you. The hall was definitely a lot livelier compared to just 20 minutes ago when most of you were just plain hangry.
Impeccable, Namjoon muses. His timing was simply impeccable and he gladly eats whatever remained of what is his third helping as he listened in on the conversation you were having with Taeyong and the girls. He laughs as Taeyong recounts the horrible speeches all of you were made to listen and he mentally pats himself on the back for forgetting to set an alarm to wake him up from his nap. Namjoon seriously debated missing the dinner all together as he stirred from his nap but he’s glad he didn’t stay in because honestly, Namjoon was mildly surprised with tonight to say the least and there were two reasons for that.
One, the food was really good and he means really good. Whatever they were serving tonight tasted like heaven compared to the crap they served at the dining hall and damn he almost feels like going back for a fourth round.
Two, you’re sitting right in front of him. Of course, not by your own choice, but hey he’ll take what he can get. It was odd because you seemed a lot more comfortable here in university and definitely a lot happier compared to your time back in high school. This is the first time he’s seen you smile for longer than 5 seconds outside of the rugby field and that very fact makes him smile too. He watches you throughout the night with a light feeling of amusement and a slight sense of regret because you’re actually speaking… saying more than just yes and no, telling stories without others prompting you, being witty, funny and absolutely magnetic which is entirely different from the almost silent Y/N he used to glance at every so often in class.
Namjoon is so busy admiring the new you that he misses most of the conversation happening around him until he hears his name being called out and his focus quickly snaps back to the table.
"So, Namjoon, you’ve seen Y/N play in high school yeah? Tell us… is she as amazing as they say?” Umji asks.
“What why would you—” You smack Umji on the arm. “Namjoon you don’t have to answer th—"
“She is,” He muses. “Better than the rumours I’d say.”
“No! Don’t listen to him,” You laugh, trying to interrupt the hoots that were causing everyone up and down the table to look at your section. “The rumours are bullshit. I’m good but not that good.”
“But your high school women’s rugby team was unheard of… Your team didn’t even play in the first division,” Sana hums. “So you’ve got to be that good to be offered a place here.”
A chorus of agreeing murmurs, a heavy weight now sitting on your chest as people join in on the conversation, new rumours being concocted.
If she isn’t that good… then she must’ve paid her way in.
Ha, you wish you had enough money for that to even be a viable option for you
Or maybe she slept with the dean. Heard he’s into younger ones.
Yeah, no, that’s gross and though you’re sure there are people who might consider doing that, you’re not one of them
Curious eyes watch you as they await your answer and you gulp nervously.
“I-I—” You stammer, unsure what to say now that everyone seemingly has taken interest in the conversation the four of you were having. “Maybe the scouts were just charmed by my good looks,” You grin, hoping the joke would lighten the atmosphere, take away the pressure you felt from the piercing stares.
Umji rolls her eyes at you before a light laugh bubbles up her throat.
“Come on, just tell us the truth,” She elbows you lightly, urging you to stop with the jokes.
“I’m really not as good as they say…”
"She’s lying. I’ve seen her play and she’s amazing,” Namjoon answers, bringing up a napkin to wipe at his mouth nonchalantly.
"Seen me play?” You laugh. “Yeah like only that one time when you were ‘subtly’ trying to get Hani to go out with you,” You scoff.
Ooh, snarky. He likes that.
“Ahh… you knew about that? All I have to say about that is that it worked,” He smiles. “Anyway Y/N, I’m hurt,” He pouts, clutching at his chest dramatically. “Of course I attended all your home games. Like you did mine,” He smirks and your smile fades because shit… you always thought he never noticed, that nobody did. Namjoon could see your cheeks starting to flush red and he smiles. It was simply adorable for you to think that he wouldn’t notice someone like you watching him at his games.
“B-bullshit.”
“Hmm? You think I’m lying?” He questions. “About you attending my games or myself attending yours?”
“Both.”
“Okay third row, aviator sunglasses & black cap wearing person, I guess you can say I haven’t noticed you there like all the time… except that one game where you coincidentally weren’t in school because you were down with the flu,” He shrugs and your gaze falters because damn it, he was right. “I guess you can also say just about every other girl dresses up like that—“ Crap. There goes your comeback. “—but hey, I’m pretty sure I’d be able to pick out a girl like you any time,” He smirks, his stare tearing through the facade of fake confidence you had been putting up. “In any case, there’s nothing wrong with a being a fan. You’re not the only one,” Namjoon winks.
Your mouth goes dry because who was this guy sitting in front of you? The Namjoon you knew barely took the time out of his day to do anything but smile at you. Yet, here he was, saying things that made butterflies flutter in your stomach and your cheeks flush. D-did he just wink at you too? Was he… flirting? With… you? You had spent years watching him do the very same to all the girls in the hallway and you used to scoff at them when they turned all dreamy-eyed when he stood in front of them but here you were doing exactly the same thing. To be fair, you never thought you’d find yourself in this position.
Namjoon smirks at the fact that he had just rendered you speechless. You open your mouth to try and reply but it only hangs open, your finger pointing at him threateningly but no words leave your mouth.
Like a saving grace, there is a tap on the mic, the sound reverberating across the room, everyone’s attention now turned to the front of the hall. There is a short speech, one that you assume is supposed to feel you with fervour, to reach higher and bring glory to the school’s name but you only feel like shrinking away at the way Namjoon is staring at you. As the speech comes to a close, claps ring around the room and you let out a sigh of relief, glad that the night was finally over. You had barely gotten out of your chair when Umji and Sana are quite literally dragging you out of the hall. Not that you were resisting… you wanted to be out of there too.
"Holy shit,“ Umji laughs. "Namjoon totally has the hots for you. The one guy everyone in this department has been talking about, has the hots for you.”
“He doesn’t,” You snort. “Namjoon’s just like that with anyone that has a pair of boobs and an ass.”
"Nah,” Sana shakes her head. “He was totally dying to speak to you all night but you kept ignoring the poor boy.”
“You know, I really love all these stories you guys are spinning but you’re gonna have to try harder,” You smile. “We were in the same school for 3 years and we barely spoke so why would that suddenly change? He was just trying to use me to get everyone’s attention and it worked,” You shrug.
“Listen, the both of you are definitely going to end up together by the end of the academic year. It’s going to be one of those classic cases of I can’t believe I didn’t notice you in high school but now you’re my whole world,“ Umji brings her hand up to her forehead to sigh dramatically. "Mark my words,” She points at you with a sly smile on her face.
“Since you’re so confident, lets bet on it,” You smirk. “If I end up with him before the academic year is up, I’ll go skinny dipping in the lake on campus in broad daylight. If I don’t, you have to.”
“You’re on,” Umji smiles, shaking your hand. “Girl, you’re going to regret this so bad. The both of you are going to be dating before this semester even ends. I can feel it in my bones.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say,” You sigh, dismissing her with a wave of a hand. “All I’m saying is you better think of how you’re going to explain to your parents why you were found swimming in a public lake, naked.”
“What’s this?” A voice booms, the three of you whipping around to find its owner. “Making skinny dipping plans without me? Ladies, I’m offended,” Namjoon muses and after the initial shock, you feel like gagging in your mouth. How is it that all the girls fawned over a guy as sleazy as him?
“Namjoon! Oh no, we would never,” Sana grins. “A year from now, you’re cordially invited to go skinny dipping with our beloved Y/N.”
“A year? You girls really plan ahead. I like that,” He laughs. “Anyway, just Y/N? I was hoping all 4 of us could go,” He pouts.
You let out a light laugh and send both Sana and Umji a knowing look, one that said, I told you this guy only thinks with his dick.
There’s a mangled mess of unclear mumbled sentences that leave both the girls’ mouth, the two of them unsure of what to say.
Umji’s head suddenly perks up as she makes a show of looking at the time on her phone.
“Shit, Sana don’t we have that meeting to attend like right now?”
“Huh what—” A kick to the shin from Umji, a subtle one but you notice it anyway. “Oh right, we do!” Sana answers with too much excitement. Pathetic. They could at least try to make their acting believable.
“Sorry but we have to go and—”
“What meeting is this?” You ask.
“A floor meeting. You know to explain the dorm rules.”
“The both of you don’t even live on the same floor,” You scoff. “Also Umji… I’m your roommate. Did you forget?”
Panic flashes across her face but she’s grabbing Sana’s hand and dragging her down the path with her. “Namjoon, make sure Y/N gets back safe yeah?” Sana shouts out.
“W-wait for me! What the—” You shout, trying to run after them but Namjoon holds you back by your wrist.
“Ah, where do you think you’re going?” Namjoon clicks his tongue at you, a look of warning on his face, as if you’ve been caught committing a crime.
“Back to my dorm because apparently I have a floor meeting to attend.”
“Come on Y/N. Anyone with a pair of eyes could’ve seen she was lying through her teeth,” He laughs. “Don’t worry, I’ll get you back to your dorm safe and sound.”
“But, I—”
“They obviously left you here with me because they want us to have a lovely walk together, don’t you think?”
“They left me here with you because they’re assholes.”
“Ouch,” He winces. “First you ignore me all night and then you make it seem like being here with me is a punishment.”
“I- what? I wasn’t ignoring you at all,” You mumble.
“Sure… looking away every time I looked at you isn’t what you’d call ignoring me?”
“It isn’t… it was just a mere coincidence that I looked away each time,” You shrug, kicking away the leaves at your feet with each step.
"Yeah, sure, whatever you say,” He snorts. “I remember you running away the day we first met on campus. Was that a coincidence too? That you suddenly had something to do?”
“Uhh, yeah… I had some documents I needed to get signed,” You lie. “Actually, what are you doing here anyway? In this university?” You ask quickly, trying to change the subject.
“I’m here to play this sport you see… Basically there are 15 of us in a team and we run around the field with an egg-shaped ball which we can only pass backwards. It’s called rugby. I’m sure you’ve heard of it.”
“Ha ha, very funny Namjoon,” You answer with a roll of your eyes. "It’s just last I heard, you were heading off to Yonsei University or something. What happened to that?”
“My studies can wait,” He shrugs. “Yonsei University will always be there but my youth and a chance at a rugby career won’t.”
“And your parents are okay with that decision?”
“It took some convincing, but they’re fine with it now.”
There’s a comfortable silence that settles between the both of you as you let his words sit in, only the sounds of leaves crunching beneath your feet as the both of you make your way back to the dorms. You take in a deep breath, letting your eyes marvel at the way the branches sway in the autumn breeze, admiring how Namjoon had the luxury of making a decision like that. How his family stood behind a choice that basically changed the course of his life. You can’t imagine your parents ever willingly let you choose sports over academics.
“I’m sorry,” Namjoon blurts out, a light sigh accompanying his sentence.
“Huh?”
“I’m sorry,” Namjoon repeats.
“W-what for?”
“You seem a lot happier here than you were in high school and I should’ve tried to—”
“Namjoon, please,” You laugh. “How is or rather was my happiness your responsibility at all?”
“No I just mean… I could’ve been friendlier because I just always thought you…” He pauses, trying to find the right words to complete his sentence.
"Hated socialising?” You offer.
“Well, more like hated the world in general,” He chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck with his palm. “You always looked like you were going to bite anyone who approached you.”
“Ah, the curse of the resting bitch face,” You shrug. “In any case it really wasn’t your fault. I just had a… complex back then,” You laugh.
Namjoon opens his mouth to reply but you cut him off quickly, words spilling out of your mouth before you have the chance to filter your thoughts.
“You were plenty friendly actually,” You smile and Namjoon lifts his eyebrows in surprise. It always seemed like you barely noticed him throughout high school. Sometimes he wondered if he had done something wrong. That he had possibly pissed you off somehow because all you ever did was nod at him boredly whenever he asked a question in an attempt to start a conversation. “In fact, I always thought out of everyone in our school, you would be someone I’d get along with,” You blurt out, unsure as to why you felt the need to say that.
“As in just friends? Nothing… you know… more?” He smirks, a playful glint in his eyes and you scoff. This guy was simply unbelievable.
“How about you try keeping it in your pants for once, yeah?” You scowl.
“I’ve tried,” He sighs heavily. “It’s not my fault the ladies are always begging for it.”
“You know, I change my mind. I don’t think you and I would be good friends at all,” You sneer, taking two large steps to put some distance between you and him, muttering insults under your breath.
“Hey, I’m joking Y/N,” He laughs, jogging to catch up to you. “I’d be more than happy to be friends with my no. 1 fan.”
“This again,” You groan. “You know everyone at our school attended your rugby games. Our school basically revolved around your team.”
“Hey, I never said there was anything wrong with attending my games but I know when someone’s staring and you my friend, always had your eyes on me.”
“I-I… coach asked me to watch you,” You stutter. “Something about how I could learn a thing or two about being a less aggressive No. 8,” You continue with a scoff, waving your hands in the air as if it was a ridiculous suggestion.
Namjoon laughs, boisterously so and you cross your arms, an obvious frown on your face.
See, both you and Namjoon play at the same position but the two of you were vastly different players. You were an aggressive player, always playing risky moves that called for your team to push forward with such force, yourself joining in tackling players when you see fit. Your coach often described your style of play as dangerous, one that was dictated by your excitement, opening your team up to devastating counter-attacks at times but somehow you always pulled your team back together just in time. Lucky, your coach would scoff but really how was it that you were that lucky every single time?
Instead of sitting back on the field, you were very much involved in forward play, making you one of the No. 8’s with the highest amount of tries in your school’s history. Not that there really was anyone in the previous teams that you could really call an opponent. You were the best player your school’s women rugby team has ever seen.
Namjoon on the other hand was regarded as an intelligent player, a safe player. His risks were calculated and his moves well thought through. He never really let anything up to chance and perhaps that too was his downfall. Though his plays guaranteed results what sealed the deal was Namjoon’s jaw dropping accuracy. In his whole high school career, you could count on one hand the amount of times Namjoon had missed a kick. Every time he stood up to kick either a penalty or conversion, his opponents would let out a sigh, already knowing the ball would be going through the space between the two metal poles. Truthfully, it baffled you how the boy who seemingly had two left feet off the field managed to coordinate his hands and feet so well for the duration of 80 minutes.
“It’s true,” Namjoon muses. “You play with your heart, not your head and that’s dangerous.”
“Well, you play rugby like it’s a math problem you have to solve and that’s predictable, boring even.”
“My style of play may be boring but at least I get results,” He shrugs. “Which is more than I can say for you.”
Namjoon sees your face crumple in pain and he instantly regrets his previous sentence. He was just so caught up in the fact that you were talking to him, joking around with him that he had forgotten that you and him were practically strangers and he had no right to say something like that… even if it was just a joke.
“Sorry,” He mumbles. “I didn’t really mean that. I was just joking.”
“It’s fine,” You laugh, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “It’s the truth anyway,” You sigh, thinking back to the few times you had sat in the locker room alone, mentally punishing yourself for being unable to bring your team to victory.
“Come on, everyone knows your team’s results had less to do with you and more to do with the fact that your team consisted of girls who barely knew how to play.”
“Hey, don’t talk about my former teammates like that,” You frown and he laughs because it’s endearing how you protected those girls as if they were your sisters when in truth, they seemed to forget about you the moment the final whistle of the game is sounded.
“You and I both know that most of the girls joined the rugby team solely because us rugby kids get to skip school to travel to our away games.”
“That is… debatable,” You murmur. “Anyway, I just… I could’ve done better.”
“Like I said earlier Y/N, I watched all your home games and I know how good you are,” He smiles and you lift an eyebrow at him suspiciously as if to make known that you didn’t believe a word he was saying. “My coach made me watch you too,” He admits with a shy smile. “Something about learning a thing or two about being a more spontaneous player,” He shrugs, rolling his eyes at you playfully.
“Your coach is a smart man,” You smile, patting him on the back. “Still think you’re lying about watching my games. The bleachers were almost empty every time and I’m pretty sure I would’ve noticed if you were there.”
“Ah, yeah you caught me. I definitely wasn’t at any of your games,” He sighs. “I wasn’t there at the game against the Ravens where you damn near ripped off all of the hair of their captain’s head. You’re so violent,” He shakes his head.
“Hey! She was asking for it alright?” You shout, your brows furrowed in anger as you remember the incident.
“Calm down,” He laughs. “It was an insane foul, I know."
Yeah, he more than knows. He almost ran out on the field to give the girl a piece of his mind too. How dare she. How dare she hurt you.
It takes you more than a moment to calm down, the damn smirk that girl wore taunting you in your mind. It’s been more than a year since that game but god, it still plays in the back of your head from time to time.
She had taken you down with deliberate intent of injuring you. An above the waist tackle, one she had hoped would immobilise you for a while or for a long time, she was fine with either. Basically, her end goal was to get you stretchered off the field. It had taken you by her surprise, her take down but you twisted your body in time to make sure your head was safe. The fall still knocked the wind out of your lungs but you were awake, aware. With your vision still a little hazy, it felt like the world was spinning but your body screamed at you, shouted for you to move your foot and you watched as a boot stamped the grass just where your ankle had been a millisecond ago. A short, sly smirk played at her lips before she flipped around to shout for the medics, pleading with the referee, explaining that it had been a mistake, that she had no intention of hurting you.
The referee for the game was an old man barely able to keep up with the pace and the linesmen hadn’t really been paying attention because they were only here for some extra cash so all in all nobody saw anything. Nobody who mattered at least. She got off with only a yellow card despite your protests and she turned back towards you when no one was looking to spit at you. You stand there shouting curses at her only for the referee to turn around and show you a yellow card too. Rage coursed through your body throughout the rest of the game and you made sure to milk them off every single possible point you could. Your coach had never seen you as determined as that game and he made a mental note of never to piss you off or maybe he should if he ever really needed you to win a game.
"Neither was I there for the game against the Panthers where you pulled that extremely risky play and your coach was so pissed I swear you could hear his screams over a mile away. But you guys won that game and he couldn’t really say anything,” He laughs, shaking his head as he remembers the way your coach watched with his mouth agape as you put the ball down past the touch line, flashing finger guns at him with a knowing smile.
Well… that was true. Your coach had been fuming but you knew that play was the only way your team would secure a try. You saw the hole in their defence and you only had a split second to decide so you went with your gut, hurtling down past the players to the end of the field yourself.
“And oh! The other time you were so happy you won that you almost ripped off your sh—”
“Okay! I believe you!” You shout, not wanting Namjoon to continue that story and he laughs at the way a light blush has started to tint your cheeks.
The both of you come to a halt as you stand in front of the dorms and Namjoon clasps his hand together as his laughter dies out.
“See, told you I’d get you back home safe,” He smiles.
“Gee thanks, I don’t know what I would’ve done without you. I mean it’s not like the streets are completely lit and there aren’t another 30 students all walking back to the same place,” You grumble. “If anything, it’s more dangerous walking home with you. You’re practically an accident waiting to happen,” You wrinkle your nose.
“Ah Y/N, ever so bitter, ever so ungrateful,” He sighs. “Come on, I’ll let your little comment slide if you kiss me,” He leans forward, pointing at his lips.
"No thanks,” You laugh, turning your back to him, walking towards the entrance of your dorm.
“Alright, just a peck on the cheek then?”
Silence. Your hips swaying as you walked further away from him.
“How about a hug?”
He watches as you walk through the door, turning back only to wave a middle finger at him as the door shuts.
Damn. There it was, that fluttering feeling in his heart.
Somewhere in the world, a middle finger equated to a kiss right?
Stubborn. Holy shit was Namjoon stubborn. Forever pestering you for that kiss, be it on the lips or the cheek and you were so close, so close to socking him in the face but… you needed his help in that stupid anatomy class. Every time the two of you study together, he would remind you that each question came with a charge, that being a kiss of course. You disregard his stupid rule because it’s simply nonsensical but at the end of each study session he reminds you of the grand total and at the end of the most recent lesson, he tells you that you’ve managed to accumulate a staggering 361 kisses which you have yet to pay, 4 away from a year’s worth, he winks. You’re pretty sure the number is made up because he’s childish like that and you’re not sure why he’s keeping this up when he knows he’s not going to get one not even a single kiss from you, not on the lips, not on the cheek, not even on his damn hand. Still, Namjoon keeps it up in hopes that one day you might cave.
He’s annoying, like a mosquito constantly buzzing in your ear no matter how many times you swat at the air around your head. On the field at practice, he’s there, winking at you and of course all the other girls on the field. At the weights room, he’s there, especially when you’re doing squats, asking you if you needed him to spot you and you made the mistake of letting him spot you once. All he did was stare at your ass and ever since then you don’t even bother acknowledging him when you’re at the squats rack. Even in the damn cafeteria, he’s there! It’s like you could never get a rest.
By this time, everyone in the department has heard of Namjoon’s tiny obsession over you and it’s hilarious to everyone… except you. While Namjoon was busy charming girls with his sleazy lines, everywhere you go, you’re referred to as Namjoon’s girl when in fact, he doesn’t own you, nobody does! The boy makes it his mission to ruin any chance you have with anyone that wasn’t him. Every time you’re at a party or even in class, getting along with someone from the opposite sex, you have to glance around to make sure Namjoon wasn’t going to suddenly pop in, put his arm around you and call you his babygirl.
When he called you babygirl, there really wasn’t any meaning behind it, it was simply a name he had given you on a whim but you still hated it because it didn’t sit well with you and well it scared all the guys away. The title babygirl essentially shouted off limits to anyone who was interested and it pissed you off obviously but no matter how many times you beg, he doesn’t listen.
You tried calling him babyboy for a week to show him what it was like, hoping it would scare away all his dates but it did nothing. The girls were unfazed and they kept coming despite you hanging off his shoulder and calling him the disgusting pet name. It was a frustrating week for you but it was basically the best week of Namjoon’s life because you came up and hugged him from behind to scare off the brunette he was talking to that one day. You asked him about his lunch plans with your arm wrapped around his middle and for the first time he found himself speechless. Despite the death glare you give her, the girl still grabs the phone out of Namjoon’s hand, punching in her number with a smirk. Call me, she smiles, her tone sweet and sultry before she waves him goodbye.
“What. the. fuck. It’s like they don’t even care that I’m here,” You groan exasperatedly, stepping away from Namjoon. “Why can’t guys be like that when they see you? Why do they always run away?”
“Because I’m threatening and you… well you’re just not.”
“I am!” You shout, furrowing your eyebrows and placing your hands on your hips.
“See, you just look like a 5-year-old throwing a temper tantrum.”
“Yeah we’ll see who you’re calling a 5 year old when I have you on the damn ground begging me to stop,” You glower, throwing punches and kicks at Namjoon.
Namjoon evades your attacks easily, all the while laughing at your little outburst.
“Yeah? So, you like it rough, do you?” He questions. “I can do rough,” He smirks.
“God, why do you have to make everything sexual?”
“I don’t know babygirl, that’s just the effect you have on me.”
“Fuck off and stop calling me that,” You groan, bringing your hand up to rub at your temples. “You’re so annoying. I hate you,” You grumble, turning around to walk back to the field.
“Aw, babygirl—” He shouts, pointing at you, causing everyone in the vicinity to look at you.
“Namjoon, don’t,” You warn.
“—I love you too!"
Fucking asshole.
You’re livid, annoyed beyond belief as all week various students from the rugby department come up to you to laugh at you, throwing Namjoon’s aw, babygirl, I love you too! at you. Honestly, you’ve had enough of all this and you just really wanted the high school Namjoon back, the one that never so much as glanced your way but nooo, you’re stuck with this big ego and fuckboy extraordinaire of a Namjoon.
Damn, no matter what you said, he would never listen to you and for some unknown reason he liked to tease you relentlessly. You had intended to give him the silent treatment, to avoid him completely after that stupid stunt he pulled on the field but the deadline for that extra credit assignment for your anatomy class was coming up soon and you didn’t understand a single fucking thing. With a hesitant sigh, you lift your phone and call him. If all you had to do was bear him for less than an hour in order to get this assignment done, then you guess it’s not such a bad deal after all. The dial tone doesn’t even go past one beep before Namjoon is picking up your call and within minutes, you see him sauntering towards you.
"How’ve you been babygirl?” Namjoon grins, sliding into the seat next to you.
“Stop fucking calling me that,” You warn, jabbing him in the chest with your index finger.
“Never,” He smiles. “So, what do you need help with?”
“I don’t get this worksheet. What do T cells have to do with cellular immunity?”
“Ah, question no. 362! 3 more to go,” He smiles. “Anyway, basically it’s just that they attack—”
“When will you quit with the stupid counting?”
“363,” He smiles. “Not anytime soon.”
“Wait, that wasn’t even an academic question!” You exclaim. “Why did you count that one?”
“364. Because I count every question the minute our study session begins.”
“I knew the number was bogus,” You laugh. “You’re pathetic you know that?”
“That makes 365. You owe me a year’s worth of kisses now Y/N,” He grins. “That’s a real hefty debt, babygirl. How do you plan on paying it off?”
“I don’t because this is ridiculous.”
“Well you don’t really have to kiss me 365 times as per se…” He mumbles. “How about I cut you a deal? Make out with me for 10 minutes and I’ll count it as a 100.”
“No.”
“Okay fine, let me touch your boobs and I’ll let you get away with 200.”
“No.”
“Come on, how is that not a fair deal?”
“There is no deal that I’m willing to take because I never agreed to this whole thing anyway!” You shout.
"350 for a handjob. Take it or leave it.”
“What part of no or never do you not understand?”
“Evidently, none of it,” He shrugs. “Tell you what… Come to the party tonight and I’ll wipe the slate clean.”
“Sure,” You shrug, nonchalantly. You were already planning on going so there was no harm in agreeing to this stupid thing anyway.
Namjoon stares back, mouth agape and for a second, he is left speechless because fuck, you finally agreed to something for once.
"Wait. I meant come to the party and let me cup your ass and I’ll wipe the slate clean.”
“Fuck you,” You stand up to gather your things.
“Hey! Wait! I didn’t answer the question you had,” He laughs, grabbing your wrist.
"Forget it,” You sigh, shaking off his hold. “I’m going to our professor’s office hours because at least there I’ll get my answer without getting harassed.”
“You sure about that?” Namjoon questions, holding onto the strap of your backpack to stop you from leaving. “I hear our prof is actually quite the perv.”
“I doubt he can be any worse than you,” You quip as you tug the strap out of his grip and walk away.
And you were right, your professor was in no way anywhere close to a pervert. In fact, he looked a little timid as you sat in front of him, asking question after question. It was great not having to brush off some flirty comment every other minute but what was not great was that you weren’t getting any answers to your questions… at least not the ones you were looking for. The problem with some professors is that the very fact that they’re smarter than the general population hinders their ability to teach well. When they start explaining things, they go into too much detail, effectively confusing you even further. You went in there not knowing one thing and left not knowing even more things plus the original thing you were confused about. It’s fine, you sigh. You’ll get Namjoon to give you the answers tomorrow.
You arrive at the party with your head spinning from the pre-game at another senior’s house, having had one drink too many. Umji had been shoving drinks your way all night because she wanted to see you drunk and for some reason, you gladly gulped down each drink. You stroll towards the couch in the middle of the room with a mega-watt smile and Namjoon can only laugh as he sees you struggle to walk in those heels of yours.
"Hey babygirl, you look happy,” He remarks as you step closer to him.
"Very,” You smile, gesturing for him to move a little so that you could sit but he shakes his head at you.
“Please,” You beg. “These heels are killing me.”
Yeah and they were killing him too. Your calves and ass looked simply delicious with the help of those stilettos.
“There’s a seat for you right here, babygirl,” He smirks, patting his thigh.
He expects a fuck you or maybe a middle finger shoved at his face but he didn’t expect this.
You place yourself down on his lap gently while rolling your eyes at him as your hand comes around to hang off his shoulder.
Namjoon shifts underneath you, trying hard not to pop a boner right in the middle of a senior’s living room. He places his hand at the curve of your waist, reveling in the way you seem to be completely at ease being this close to him.
“Comfortable?”
You nod your head, shifting ever so slightly, your ass rubbing against his member. Namjoon squeezed your side involuntarily, gulping as he tried to keep himself calm. You throw him a confused look and he plays it off with a wink. Jesus, what was he 15? Namjoon lets out a shaky breath, baffled as to how you were able to rile him up like this with all your clothes on no less. He glances at you to find you completely unbothered though, busy typing away on your phone.
“You know it’s rude to sit on someone’s lap and not pay them any attention?”
“Well it’s not like I want to sit on your lap, you refused to make space for me on the couch,” You retort, your fingers still tapping away at your screen. Namjoon takes a glimpse at the text you’re typing and he can’t help but laugh.
“Taeyong’s never going to find this party if you keep sending him gibberish.”
“I’m trying very hard to type it right, okay? I just have abnormally fat fingers.”
“I’m pretty sure that isn’t the reason why you can’t even type the word street right,” He laughs, grabbing the phone from you to type in the address properly. “There,” He sighs, pressing the send button.
“I didn’t know you were that close to Taeyong,” He mumbles, his thumb gliding down the side of your screen.
"We’re not close.”
“You had lunch with him on Tuesday.”
“How do you know that? Are you scrolling through my texts?”
You move to take your phone back but Namjoon pulls it away out of your reach.
“Namjoon,” You groan. “I’m too drunk for this.”
“Wait, you had lunch with him last week too!”
“Stop reading my texts!”
“Cool, I’ll see you there love,” Namjoon reads out the text aloud. “He calls you love?”
“Yeah.”
“And you let him?”
“He calls everyone love.”
“He doesn’t call me love,” He counters and you only give him an unamused look.
"Namjoon, just give me my phone back.”
“No,” He grumbles. “Why is he allowed to call you love? You literally lose your shit every time I call you babygirl.”
“I already told you,” You groan. “He calls everyone love. Also, you call me babygirl just to spite me.”
“I don’t,” He mumbles. “I mean it when I call you my babygirl,” He smirks, his hand slipping from your waist to move towards your ass.
“Move your hand any further down and I’ll cut it off.”
“As violent as always,” He laughs, placing his hand back at your waist.
“Namjoon, my phone please,” You whine.
“Okay, okay but how about a picture to celebrate this momentous occasion? I mean Y/N herself sitting on my lap. Life doesn’t get any better.”
“Will you give me my phone back after?”
“Of course,” He smiles, raising the phone up.
You smile for what is ages but Namjoon refuses to take the picture.
“Well, any day now Namjoon.”
“Come closer.”
You let out a deep sigh before moving closer, your face practically next to his but he still doesn’t take the picture.
“What now?”
Namjoon smiles, his index finger tapping at his cheek.
“No.”
“No kiss, no phone,” He shrugs.
You wrestle with him, attempting to get your phone out of his hand but he raises it far above your head, completely out of your reach.
"Look, you put this off and I’m going to upgrade it to a kiss on the lips.”
You let out an exasperated sigh before you relent, placing a short quick kiss to his cheek. Namjoon attempts to turn to catch your lips but he’s too slow. You pull away, wagging your index finger at him as you smirk at him.
“I’m drunk but not that drunk, babyboy,” You tease and as stupid as it sounds, Namjoon’s heart skips a beat at the nickname.
"I had to try,” He shrugs coolly, trying his best to suppress the fluttering he felt in his chest.
Namjoon manages to fiddle around with your phone some more before you force him to give you your phone back. Just as he begins his sentence, you’re being dragged away by Umji for another round of shots and Namjoon only sighs as he watches you disappear into the kitchen. As the night unfolds, Namjoon has to admit that he enjoys the drunk version of you because drunk you always said the best things. He’s only seen you drunk twice though that being now and one time back in high school. You had said far more interesting things back then but then again you were borderline black out drunk then and you were plenty conscious now seeing that you were fast enough to catch his kiss trick. Either way, the night ends all too soon in his opinion. He barely got to speak to you all night but you sat on his lap for 10 minutes so basically, tonight was a victory in his book anyway.
Mornings. Namjoon loves mornings because they are usually calm, quiet, a huge contrast to a crazy night out but you don’t seem to understand the concept of peaceful mornings because-
“Namjoon I’m going to fucking kill you. Do you know how many notifications I got because of your stupid little stunt?”
Namjoon winces at the sheer volume of your voice, quickly pressing down on the side buttons on his phone to make sure his eardrums don’t ache by the end of the conversation.
You see, much like Namjoon, you enjoyed peaceful mornings too but this very morning was anything but peaceful. You’re awaken first by Umji’s screaming and before your blurry eyes could adjust to the bright morning light that was filtering in through the blinds, she is shoving her phone in your face. You stare at the post in disbelief for a few too many seconds until Umji has to shake you out of your trance.
Y/N L/N
is in a relationship with Kim Namjoon
You read the words over and over again before you look down at the picture and then at the words again. You knew the picture was a mistake and you knew that Namjoon had taken way too long to send that picture to himself last night. You should’ve known he would have done something like this. Asshole, you mumble under your breath. That sneaky little man had sent himself a relationship request with the picture attached with your phone last night and you had no clue at all until you were woken up this morning. You scramble around your bed to look for your phone and your lockscreen is filled with notifications, many wishing you congratulations, your phone constantly vibrating as new comments pour in. You know how it looks, so real, so believable especially since it was ‘you’ who had posted it. You delete the post as soon as possible before you’re picking up the phone to dial Namjoon’s number.
“Aw is my girlfriend finding all the attention difficult to handle?” He coos.
"Fuck you. I’m not your girlfriend. I’m actually going to punch you in the throat the next time I see you.”
“So violent,” He sighs. “I think we need to attend couples therapy if we want this to work.”
“You think you’re real funny don’t you?”
“Hilarious, actually,” He smiles.
"Fix this Namjoon before I actually walk over to your dorm and strangle you with my bare hands,” You seethe, stomping around your room.
"I didn’t know you were into choking, babygirl,” He smirks. “The good news is I’m a big fan actually,” He shrugs before stretching out on his bed.
"Stop making things sexual.”
“You started it,” He retorts.
"I will literally castrate you if the next sentence that comes out of your mouth isn’t alright, i’ll fix it.”
“Alright, I’ll fix it.”
“Good,” You smile
"Babyg—”
Namjoon is met with the end dial tone and a light laugh escapes him. God, you were simply adorable whenever you were mad.
You’re fuming, pacing up and down your room and Umji can’t seem to stop laughing at how angry you were. You wait no less than 5 minutes before you hear an alert tone on your phone.
Namjoon has tagged you in a post.
Not bad, you shrug. At least the boy knew how to listen and fix—
Kim Namjoon
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Y/N and I will be taking a break. We intend to work through this and come back as a stronger couple. Thank you all for your well wishes. Don’t worry babygirl, we’ll get through this rough patch!
Son of a bitch.
Hate didn’t even help describe how much you despised him. You wait 2 maybe 3 minutes and your phone starts to vibrate every 5 seconds, a new comment on the post with each minute. You’re on the verge of storming over to grab him by the collar and make him type out a long apology post but your head is pounding from the killer hangover you have so, you merely block Namjoon on every single possible social media outlet and you waste no time blocking his number too.
You gave Namjoon the ‘silent treatment’ just about every other day in the week and you always caved but this time you don’t. It’s been almost a week and you still haven’t spoken a word to him despite his numerous tries. Okay, maybe he took the joke a little too far this time but he craved your attention and the only way he would get it was to pull a stunt of this magnitude.
It must be Namjoon’s lucky day because he finally spots you alone today, delightedly enjoying your snack in the dining hall. He quickly scurries over before anyone joins you because he absolutely hates it when you do that thing where you talk to everyone except him, making it seem like he wasn’t even there.
“Hey babyg—, Y/N.” He corrects after the glare you give him. “Still mad at me?”
“Don’t talk to me.”
“Aw, come on. It was just a joke,” He smiles, his hand coming around to rest across your shoulders.
“Don’t touch me,” You warn, a single finger pointing at him.
“I’m sorry,” He sighs. “I took it too far and I’m sorry.”
You pay him no attention, simply continuing to munch on your snack.
“What will it take for you to forgive me?” He asks.
He’s only met in silence as you continue to scroll through your phone with one hand and hold your snack in the other.
“Hey, Y/N, come on… I’m sorry, I really am,” He pouts and your eyes flit up to meet his this time. The look he has on is reminiscent to the one back in high school when he had been the reason for your sprained ankle. You almost feel like reaching over to pat him on the head.
“I’ll make it up to you alright? What do you want me to do?”
You stare at him for a while before munching on your snack again and Namjoon lets out a heavy sigh before placing his head on the table so he could meet your gaze.
“How about dinner at that sushi place so far off campus that you haven’t been able to go to because no one wants to go with you?”
“How do you know that…” You mumble. You’re pretty sure you still had him blocked on all your social media and that had been something you posted two days ago.
“I have my ways,” Namjoon smiles. “So how about it babygirl? Dinner on me?”
“Fine,” You grumble. “This doesn’t mean I’m forgiving you though. I just want free sushi.”
“Of course,” He laughs, nodding but he sees a hint of a smile on your face and he already knows you’ve forgiven him. It’s not like he wanted to do all of this and sit through a week of silent treatment but he knew he had to take drastic measures if he was going to get you to agree on a dinner date.
“You better visit the ATM before you pick me up,” You smirk. “I’m a big eater.”
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head,” Namjoon smiles. “I’m pretty sure my wallet can handle it.”
After all, he has been saving up for three years.

Embrace the mullet // Baekhyun
requested: no genre: fluff & a bit of comedy words: 647 (i can never get to 1k i apologize..)
summary: Baekhyun has gotten a totally new hairstyle.. one you wouldn’t even think he would ever have (maybe during his pre-debut years..) and your reaction? We will have to find out.
“Babe! Babe!,” you hear the door open then slammed shut, following by Baekhyun’s call for you.
“I’m in the room!,” you replied to him loudly. You’re doing laundry at the moment just after finishing washing the dishes and sweeping the floor of your apartment. You’re tired, but your boyfriend’s presence lifts or up a little.
After hearing your reply you hear his foot steps running towards your guy’s bedroom, “Look,” he says excitedly.
You look up from folding your shirt and your eyes widen.
“Do you like it?,” he questions with a small smile on his face, walking towards you.
At lost for words you couldn’t reply or even blink, “You’re hair,” you whisper in shock as your eyes double the size.
“I know, sexy right? I lost a bet when me and the boys were playing a game earlier so I had to get a mullet, but I don’t care. It actually came out better than i expected,” he explains quickly and giggly.
Your expressions remains, but you reach a hand up to run through his hair. His beautiful brown hair is now gone. Replaced with black hair and red streaks. Your hand reaches to the bottom of his head at the back and you stroke it. Still flabbergasted.
“How do you think I look?,” he questions nervously from your lack of response.
“It’s….. sexy?,” you slowly said. Baekhyun gave you a face.
“Liar. You’re lucky i don’t have to keep this look for long so just embrace the mullet while you can~,” he sang while giving a peck to your nose.
“Anyways, are you done with chores? Let’s go on a date!,” he exclaims.
“After i finish folding these clothes and putting them away. I also need to shower, Baek,” tired from house cleaning and Baekhyun’s new country hair do.
“Okay! Do what you gotta do and I’ll get ready, gonna try different ways to gel this hair up, hehe,” he childishly giggles and gets up from the bed to his wardrobe to find something to wear.
You shook your head while chuckling finally finish folding the last piece of clothing. After putting everything away you get ready to take a shower.
After finishing a steamy shower you get out wrapped in a towel. You face palmed so hard you might left a hand mark there. Baekhyun is currently using mousse for his hair. You see the gel container opened which probably explains that he doesn’t want to put gel.
After applying and combing his hair he turned to you, “Babe, how does this look?,” he questions while watching you unwrap your towel to wrap it around your hair. You grab some undergarments before quickly looking at him, seeing his eyes travel everywhere on your body.
“Uhhh, that looks fine i guess,” you stifle a laugh because no matter what hairstyle he chose to do it will always look funny.
Baekhyun continues to finish his current style while you dress yourself. Looking over to him you see him wearing a white dress shirt with some black patterns on it and jeans. Since he dressed pretty casual you did too.
You wore a fishnet type of long sleeve and a velvet tank top with roses on it paired with a nice pair of skinny jeans that will show your butt off.
You guys are ready to go and Baekhyun comes at you with that sultry gaze and smirk plastered on his face, “You look hot babe,” he squeezes the right side of your ass, “Who am i kidding. You always look hot babe,” he seductively whispers in your ear.
“You look very hot too, Baekhyun. I have to say that mullet is kind of growing on me,” a soft giggle leaves your lips. He replies with a soft i know before leading the way out.
Oh gosh how much you love that guy…. and that mullet.

hello, angel
kai x reader. fluffy fluff. 2.4 k words. sorry for disappearing..lost interest in writing for awhile, but then i saw tons of notifs suddenly appearing then i decided i’ll start writing again. but for now, here’s an old writing of mine i’m reposting.
He sees her, and he knows he’s home.
[Name] wakes to the soft snoring of her boyfriend, his arms slithered lazily on her waist and nose pressed against the back of her neck. With every warm breath that leaves him, she feels her skin tickle. The curtains are drawn closed, obstructing the sun’s light that would usually glare down on her face until she stirs awake. Barely opened eyes are closed again by the overwhelming drowsiness that still clings, her sore limbs nuzzling back into the body next to hers as she falls back asleep to the sensation of cold sheets.
The bed rustles not even 5 minutes later, the body she’s resting against moves restlessly, causing her to open her eyes and glare at the hand that had left her waist and now caress around the bed in search for her hand to hold. He shouldn’t be waking this early, he should be savoring his rest in the limited time that he has, she thinks. She pretends to fall back asleep, ignoring his fingers probing at her sides that’s asking her to wake.
“Wake up.” He whines.
She holds back a sigh. Why can’t he just go back to sleep?
She gingerly reaches her hand out, blindly searching for his hands through the haze of sleep that still attaches itself to her to get him to stop disrupting her from her sleep. The brush of his cold when they finally found each other hand causes a small electric jolt on her skin, she draws back for a second before intertwining her fingers with his. Their hands fall back on the mattress, and then he finally stops moving.
He pushes himself forward, now closer to her, close enough that if he opens his mouth he’ll get a mouthful of her hair. He cranes his neck up, looking down at the side of her face: her lips parted and looking dry, eyes crusted with evidence of a good night sleep. And Jongin smiles to himself, comparing how she looks when she’s freshened up and touched with make-up to the way she is now. His heart and mind always works more frantically at this sight of her like this. He sees the slight flutter of her eyelids, and then he knows that she’s finally awake.
“Good morning.” He whispers, pressing his lips on the shell of her ear, leaving a tender peck on it.
She groans, twisting her body to face him, their hands momentarily break apart, only to reconnect after she found herself a good position, nestled on his chest, and then she tries to keep her eyes open with difficulty.
“God, I forgot how awful your morning breath is.” Jongin pinches her cheeks in an act of offense.
“I am actually trying to be romantic. Do you really have to ruin the moment?”
Wisps of hair hiding under the coolness of her white pillowcase, lower lip jutting out in the form of a heart wrenching childish pout, loose sleeveless shirt showcasing the sharpness of his collarbone, this is the sight of Kim Jongin that eats at her brain every day he is not with her.
She smiles at him, wistful and solaced when her fingers touch the smooth expanse of his cheek. He is real, and he is here with her, how long has she dreamed for this to happen?
She finds herself having a hard time believing that he has any time left for her anymore with each month that flew by without any physical contact or reassurance. Those thoughts shouldn’t live in her brain, but it would be lying if she says she never thinks of him leaving her with every late night phone calls and 5-minutes-maximum video calls that comes and goes. For now, she is happy, but when he leaves again, she’d only have this memory to hang on to for the next few days, weeks, maybe months.
“Stop staring, you’re making it hard for me to be mad at you.”
His voice is a dulcet tone of stillwater if she could describe them in colors. Hearing it makes her feel as if she’s floating on calm water, or looking up at the sky. Everything about it speaks of a gentle, tranquil, zen state of mind.
She giggles, tugging his head free from the pillow so she can see him and his ridiculous bedhead. His hair sticks up like sharp thorns, but when she run her hand through it it is as soft as she remembers it being. Jongin’s pout pulls up into a smile at her touch, tender and careful like the stroke of a paintbrush drawing a masterpiece.
“What do you want to do today?”
He hums, thinking to himself. Truthfully, he wants nothing more than to stay in bed all day, basking in her presence until they fall back asleep in sheets that grows warmer with their body heat. Despite that, he feels restless just laying down, that is the reason why he woke up in the first place.
“Why don’t we start with breakfast? What do you have?”
“Milk and cereal, or cereal and milk.”
Jongin purse his lips, stopping himself from laughing at his lazy girlfriend, lazy enough to not go grocery shopping because she believes she could live off of just cereal and milk.
“Oh, well sorry I don’t have ingredients enough to satisfy the exquisite palette of EXO’s Kai.” [Name] emphasizes on his stage name with a hint of mockery.
Jongin pulls her back down when she starts to get up, landing her back next to him with a small bounce of the mattress and her surprised yelp. He flashes her a grin, his gums peeking beneath his lips in that adorable smile only he can pull off.
“Just kidding,” he nuzzles his nose against hers, something he tends to do only when they’re alone, he would never admit it when she points out to him that this is just one of the many proof of how clingy he is around her, “cereal sounds really nice.”
“Ugh, you’re such a sap. Get off of me.”
This time she got up successfully, and she is the one to pull Jongin up from his sleeping position, him bumping his head on her chest when he’s fully sat up. She makes no attempt to push him off her and settles for ruffling his hair, taming them down to fall on his forehead while his arms slowly wound themselves around her form.
“I wonder what the world will think when they find out what a baby you are.”
Jongin glimpse up at her, his one eyebrow rising at the underlying threat in her tone.
“That’s not what you said when you have my face in between your quivering thighs, the only thing keeping you from falling — ”
“Shut the ever loving fuck up Kim Jongin. It’s too early for that.”
He only chuckles, amused with how she avoids his eyes even though he can still see the embarrassed hue that dusts her cheeks. His joints gave out a pop when he kicks the air, stretching his limbs in a dramatic fashion that leaves her breathing out through her nose in silent laughter.
It takes quite awhile for the two to reach the kitchen despite the size of her apartment. If not for her overly clingy boyfriend digging his chin on her shoulders while he forces most of his weight on her, she would have been eating at her second bowl of cereal.
By the time they reach the kitchen, Jongin detaches himself from her and settles down comfortably on the cold counter.
“Can you move over? The cereal is in the cupboard behind you.”
He turns his head and drags himself away from the cupboard she meant, however, his hand latches on to the cupboard’s handle to keep it closed while he displays a mischievous smile to her. [Name] scrunches her eyebrows down.
“Jongin?”
Jongin taps his index finger on the cupboard’s wooden door and tilts his head to give her a lazily done smirk. His other hand comes up to tap his cheek, indicating that he wants a kiss, though she knows that he’d sneakily turn his head at the last second before her lips could touch his cheek, landing a kiss on the lips instead.
“It’s gonna cost you.” He sings, pleasantly teasing and half chuckling.
There is a short moment of silence between them, which she uses to stare vexingly at her boyfriend innocently smiling at her, unaffected by her gaze that exposes her silent plea for him to move.
“Come on, just give me a little kiss, and then we’ll be eating breakfast.”
He silently celebrates when she gives in with a puff of her breath, leaning into him. Jongin eagerly meets her halfway, no longer putting up a sneaky front with wanting a kiss on the lips as he leans in facing her. They share a brief kiss, and then [Name] flings open the cupboard door the second Jongin’s hand falters. A loud yelp escape him, and he jumps off the counter immediately, the sudden force of the cupboard opening making him think it is about to hit his head.
Jongin eyes [Name] with a nasty glare, knowing she did it purposely to throw him off the counter. [Name] shrugs innocently, standing on her toes to reach the box of Froot Loops without leaving her eyes off of him. She crosses the kitchen for the fridge, but Jongin can read her movements and he reaches there before her, leaning his back on the fridge in an act of prevention. [Name] sigh, again.
“Nini, can you grab the milk for me?” She hopes the nickname could sway him.
“Maybe.” He sing the first syllable playfully, sadly, not at all swayed by the affectionate nickname.
After two more kisses (one for the milk, and another for the bowls), [Name] pours the Froot Loops on both bowls in equal ratio, enjoying the serenity that finally comes without Jongin trying to pull anything. She hoped too soon, as a call for attention through the clear of his throat stops her from opening the lid to the milk.
“What are you doing?” He is leaning on the small dining table with his elbows when he asks.
Nothing seems to be out of place, she hasn’t done anything out of the ordinary, so the answer to his question is given with her scrunched expression.
“I’m pouring cereal into a bowl?”
“Why would you do that? You should pour the milk first.”
Unbelievable
“What? No, you pour the cereal first so you’d know how much milk you need.”
“No, it won’t taste the same.”
She holds herself back from flinging the carton milk on his pretty face — only because it’s an important factor to his career. The corner of her lips twitches then presses into a thin line against each other, looking incredulous at her boyfriend’s stupid argument.
“They’ll be mixed together in a bowl Jongin, it’ll taste the same either way — ”
“Do you want to know what I’d love to do with you on that counter over there?”
She picks up the bowl, press the trash can on the edge of the table open with her toes, then dumps the cereal from the bowl on to the bin without giving Jongin a chance to blink. Jongin leans back, standing with hands on hips at her action, searching her face for an answer as to ‘what the heck?’
“Plain milk for Jongin it is.” She deadpans.
Jongin can only whine.
Though, she ends up pouring another bowl of cereal after the milk this time for the both of them.
Minutes later, after relentless reassurance of ‘it’s fine, I won’t spill any milk on the couch’ from Jongin, breakfast is enjoyed in the presence of an awful sci-fi movie they’re both too lazy to get up and change the channel for, along with each other’s cold feet brushing against their arms where they lay in the opposite direction from each other. Jongin rests his back on one of the couch’s armrest, [Name] on the other, awarding him with the sight of her fixated expression on her bowl of turning-soggy-cereal.
Jongin wiggles his toes, catching her attention with the annoying movement.
“What are you thinking about?”
“How to get you to find the remote and change the channel.”
His smile is small, mouth filled with a spoonful of Froot Loops, but it grows as a large grin when he swallows the contents in his mouth.
“Just enjoy the movie, I’m not moving anytime soon, and I know you won’t either.”
She groans, throwing her head back dramatically and bowl of cereal lowered to her lap. Jongin still doesn’t feel like getting up, even though he agrees that whatever this movie is is terrible. [Name] only perks up when the noise from the TV changes and a commercial break comes up.
“At least the commercials they’re playing are nice.” She mutters through a mouthful of milk and cereal.
Jongin nods in silent agreement.
Not even a minute later, Jongin feels something cold and wet on his calf. He pauses momentarily from eating and raise his calf up, startled at the stray Froot Loops leaving drops of milk on his skin. At the first ring of her giggle, Jongin knows that she had flicked the cereal on him purposely.
“How cruel.”
His revenge comes too soon in the form of a soggy Froot Loops to her nose. A hearty laugh racks up his chest at her astonished expression. However, he quickly goes to cover his face with his own bowl for protection when he sees her scowl. [Name] playfully glares at him, and the next Froot Loops that is flung from her spoon lands on his collarbone, slipping down to the inside of his sleeveless shirt. He squeaks, squirming at the coldness of the milk and the stickiness of the cereal traveling down his chest.
“Unfair! You’re wearing a sweater!” The next piece of cereal stains the couch, and that’s when they spoil their breakfast for a round of food war.
[Name] scarcely remember the rest of the day with his stillwater blue voice, thick and sweet like honey in her ear, and his laughter: a violet dusk, a noise she has learned to fall asleep to. And although he has to leave the next morning, [Name] has no qualms, for she holds all the memory of this day close to her senses (how he feels against her skin, how he looks like when he smiles at her, how his skin tastes of sweat), and her heart.
She wonders if his voice will change to a darker blue, or will they stay the same the next time he comes back home again.

… As it has been said in a song series 04. “Well, isn’t this exactly where you like me? I am exactly where you like me, you know” - But It’s Better If You Do - P!atD a/n: I’m sorry this is not properly beta-read.

Only then he notices the car’s door open for him and Jongdae steps out after seeing him do so as well.
The night is dark and the drive to the condo Baekhyun knows from childhood’s something he rather not be doing. He likes even less since he had to cancel a date with you for this.
“Baek, no one likes to be called here”, Jongdae speaks up by his side, seeing his friend’s grumpy mood, “But we caused a mess in the organization. You think Mr. Kim would sit back and do nothing? Really?”
“His son caused this, not us.”
“You’re really going with that? Really?” Jongdae scoffs, “C’mon you’re smarter than this.”
With a brusque move, Baekhyun, who had been staring out the dark tinted car window, turns to look at his friend seated beside him.
“We’re doing everything better than before. The goods are much better than before, our business is secured, no rats, the cops are tamed. We fixed everything single thing” Baekhyun rants on, “If he wants to lose everything just he should just put that brat in his place and get over with it. He should see how many men will stay just for pure devotion to his family name and how many will waltz over to us.”
“Baek...”, Jongdae starts with a warning, “Promise me that even if Junmyeon provokes, you won’t pick a fight”, Baekhyun looks away, “Promise me!”
“Yeah, I guess”, Baekhyun careless answer with a wave of his hand has Jongdae sighing in frustration and worry.
When the car stops and the car’s doors are open for them, Baekhyun finds his other friends are there as well, waiting for him. Minseok seems worried and they greet each other briefly before walking down the path to the main door of the house.
“What is it?” Jongdae asks
“I don’t know” Minseok speaks up, “Everyone’s there”
“You mean..”
“Everyone, Baek.”
When the door opens Baekhyun walks in the house, sided by Minseok and Jongdae watchful eyes.
“My son!” Mr. Kim comes up to him with a proudful smile, extending his arms towards Baekhyun.
Jongdae and Minseok stop in place and Baekhyun is suspicious and much too aware of Suho’s burning glare directed to him. But, still he meets Mr. Kim where the old man stops and stay still as the man wraps an arm around his shoulders, bringing Baekhyun closer to him in a demonstration of affection and walking him deeper inside the house where the others were waiting, Jongade and Minseok followed short behind.
“I was worried you might not show up after all”
Baekhyun took the seat immediately at Mr. Kim’s right side. An honorable place that used to belong to the currently thumb-sucking Suho who’s sitting farther down the table.
⁎ ⁎ ⁎
You couldn’t help but smile when you saw Chanyeol waiting for you somewhere close to school just so the two of you could have some time to be together. Your friend excused herself and you enjoyed your time with him and this time you forgot to look at Baekhyun while Chanyeol took the time to sit on the desk beside yours to keep on the conversation, leaving only when the teacher arrived.
“They really look good together”, Baekhyun hears sees the boy sitting next to him pointing at you and Chanyeol, talking to his friend.
“I heard they’re going to college together,” the other replies.
“I wish I could get a girlfriend too~”
Baekhyun couldn’t avoid the bitterness that bit him right there. As if something bit him, stirring some kind of anger he didn’t mean to indulge. It wasn’t true anyway. Baekhyun knows you’re much too focused on something else. Dating isn’t something you’d want.
He saw Chanyeol looking at you during class, Baekhyun wishes he could tell Chanyeol to piss off, stay away from you, but… Between them, Chanyeol would be the right choice for you. That doesn’t make Baekhyun feel any better about it.
“But, when they started going out?” A girl asked another and Baekhyun just couldn’t ignore the conversation as he usually does.
“Remember when they arrived together when we visited that other city during the trip? I heard that was their first date”, the girls squeal.
“Chanyeol is perfect. Y/n’s so lucky!” The other replies and Baekhyun manages to ignore whatever nonsense they add after that.
Baekhyun doesn’t think Chanyeol is perfect, but better than him in some ways. At least, he doesn’t have a mafia association to consider when he’s with you. He’s the selfish bastard who put your life on the line just because he can’t let go, not just yet.
If he chooses to accept Mr. Kim’s proposal to take the seat as the second-in-command being with you would be impossible, if someone found out… Someone dangerous. Baekhyun knows how careless he’s being, Jongdae warned him again and again while he played innocent when he shouldn’t.
“The person you’re dating-”, Mr. Kim said the night before during a private conversation while they walked through the garden while Baekhyun kept his breath held in his throat.
It wasn’t a surprise Mr. Kim would know about you, but he was worried what the man would say next.
“For now, it’s an advice, son. I know you care about her”, Mr. Kim turned to look at Baekhyun and placed a hand on his shoulder, looking at his adopted son’s eyes meaningfully.
“You gotta make up your mind. You either make her yours or don’t let her be a way to get to you when things get ugly”, Mr. Kim squeezed Baekhyun’s shoulder tightly, “You might not see me as a father, specially after what happened to your mother, but think about what happened and ask yourself… Are you willing to let the same thing happen?”
The answer is easy. He would never let anything happen to you, it’s not that you’re a way to him, it’s the other way around. To get to you he’d stupid enough to put himself in the line, obviously that’s Mr. Kims biggest worry. Maybe he should let you be.
That was enough to stir him up some more and before the class was over, he dismissed himself. He found himself standing before the vending machine. The others had stepped aside for him while he just stood there, playing with the money in his hand. Classes were dismissed, he supposed to meet you now, at the usual place.
When he snapped to reality he got something he knows you like and something for himself before walking away. Deciding to put any of those thoughts aside, of course people would talk about you and Chanyeol, the two of you supposed to take care of the group during the trip.
“Hey! Hyung!” Sehun greeted his friend and Baekhyun stopped as the other jogged to him right wearing his PE uniform all sweaty and dirty, “Where are you going? Can we have lunch together? Can I have this?”
Sehun reaches for your favorite drink, but Baekhyun shoves his in Sehun’s hand instead.
“I have to meet someone now. Go take a bath, you’re really stinking”, Sehun looks disappointed at the drink in his hand and looks thoughtfully at Baekhyun.
“Can I come over to play later? Your TV’s better than the one in my room...”
Sehun’s voice fades out into the distance as Baekhyun listens to someone else talking. The boiling anger inside him reacted before he could stop himself. The voice of his classmate again, the same boy who sits next to him.
It’s maddening how his heart beats so hurtfully against his chest, scratching its way up his throat just so he can’t breathe. A high-pitched, deafening noise buzzes in his ear. It seems like reality has folded itself in two and he delved into the worse version of it.
‘No.’, the word is drawn in big, bold letters in his head even though his heart and his whole body shakes, his thoughts are certain and definitive, ‘No. It’s not true.’ Baekhyun tells himself, stating a simple fact. His mind is what stops him from letting himself be taken by that desperation that has already taken the rest of his body.
Baekhyun knows you better than any of these stupid kids, so of course they’re lying. Before he knows it, he’s gripping the kid by the collar of his uniform's shirt and pulling the scared kid up close to him. The hurt in his eyes is taken by anger, that’s it! The reason why he’s body is running wild in adrenaline right now is anger. His image, the image he’s been keeping just for the sake of you. That’s gone, he can’t remember how to act in any other way.
“Who the fuck you think you are?”, he growls on the kid’s face.
He knows everyone's gathering around him, his knuckles are white and he can see the kid’s face run pale and his eyes glazed with fear seeing the fearsome face the infamous Baekhyun twisted in anger directed at him like this. No one wants to get on Baekhyun’s bad side, never.
Sehun tries a step closer. “Stay away, Sehun”, his voice is enough to make the younger stop in his tracks and Baekhyun turns to his classmate again, “I said”, Baekhyun’s voice is low and dangerous, “—who the fuck you think you are?” His pale white teeth grinds and the boy gulps down.
“I– I’m– I’m sorry, Baekhyun! I meant it”, the voice of his classmates trembles in fear trying to find in Baekhyun’s eyes some forgiveness in the middle of all the wilderness that makes him so scary,
Sehun steps away and pulls his phone quickly, with his hands sweaty and unsteady is a hard task to make a simple call, Baekhyun’s hold gets dangerously tight around the younger boy’s throat, cutting his air supply.
“Speak properly!”
“I’m– sor—sorry–”
“You think I want your apology? You should apologize to Y/n not to me! Shit!”, the boy seemed to say something to set Baekhyun at some kind of peace, but bit his tongue, afraid, “Why did you say that about Y/n?”
“I didn’t I swe–”, before the boy could say much else he was stumbling back against the stairs behind him, he wouldn’t fall if Baekhyun didn’t push him again.
It’s not like the boy couldn’t fight for himself, it’s not how it looks like, but who would put up a fight against Baekhyun when everyone knew who he is and where he’s from?
“Cut the bullshit!”, the boy stood up again, slowly, carefully, head hanging low in hopes that would make Baekhyun stop coming for him, but couldn’t stop trembling and it only worsen when Baekhyun stepped closer to him, “Be honest! Try it again!”
“I heard about it when I walked in the school today–”, the boy starts carefully, holding himself together for any advance from Baekhyun, “—the others were talking about it, so I just–”
“So you just didn’t mind in spreading this bullshit too? I should break your–”
Sehun’s eyes grow two sizes the moment Baekhyun has his hand on his classmate, he can’t understand the reason why Baekhyun was making such a fuss because of something everyone already knew. Why does it matter if you’re dating Chanyeol? Everyone seemed to cheer for that, much like they would cheer for their favorite couple in a TV show.
“Baek, stop!” Jongdae is breathless as he runs to his best friend, Minseok reaches him first, pulling away from the other boy who could barely put up a fight.
“What are you doing?” Minseok asks and Baekhyun shakes him away from his body.
“It wasn’t me-”, the boy tries again, Eyes wide open, as Baekhyun jolts toward him again and Jongdae helps Minseok hold him back this time.
“That’s enough”, Jongdae says
“It wasn’t me, I swear!” The boy tries again and Minseok motions for the boy to just leave.
“Why does he care so much?” Someone whispers to another.
“It’s like a stalker. Really. Y/n should be careful.”
“Like a psycho or something.”
Jongdae disperses the crowd and orders one of the Baekhyun and the boy’s classmate to take him to the nurse.
“We should go home-”, Minseok tries to reason with Baekhyun, but he pushes Minseok away when he sees you somewhere in the crowd and feels the tint of shame inside of him, under all of that suppressed anger. He promised himself you wouldn’t see him like that again.
“Baekhyun!” You call after him even though there are some students in the corridor and, of course, they look, “Byun Baekhyun! Wait!”
He keeps walking fast and you have to run to catch up with him, but it’s not until the two of you are alone when he finds an empty classroom that he stops and drags you inside.
Baekhyun closes the door while you stand there, against the wall, not even knowing what to say anymore. You watch him stand before you and your eyes search for his, worried and hesitant as you see the anger dissipating.
Shame is the first thing that goes by when he turns to you, he never meant for you to see him like that. All that anger just… Seem to disappear now that he sees you here, all that restless feeling just simply goes away. He should’ve known better than this.
You work like magic, just being there with him is enough. He couldn’t bear the thought of Chanyeol. Even now thinking about it makes him hate the stupid guy who said it, the girls spreading rumors.
“Why did you do that? What if you get expelled?” Baekhyun chuckles and that smile that belongs only to him, sweet and mischievous, pulls the corner of his lips into a smile as well.
“Hey! You really think they’d do this? Did you forget who I am?” You click your tongue playfully, crossing your arms between the two of you
“You really think you’re unbeatable, don’t you?”
“Me? Y/n, that’s an old concept”, he wouldn’t remind you that you’ve managed to change that concept easily not too long ago.
The old Baekhyun wouldn’t really stand up for anyone who’s not part of his feared group of close friends. He pulls your arms free, his smile growing wider, not minding to smile openly at you anymore.
“Besides, how could I just let someone speak like that about you?”
“What were they saying anyway?”
Baekhyun chuckle, amused by the bitter thought. “They said you’re dating Chanyeol.”
Baekhyun leans against the wall behind him, pulling you along with him. He doesn’t know what or how you’d say and settle his feelings down, but the distant look in your eyes wasn’t a good start. Your expression changes and your smiles simply disappears from your lips, he could hear the echo of his heartbeat in drumming in his eyes as he saw you look down between the two of you.
You look everywhere but him and it’s almost like he knows what you gonna say. An invisible hand suddenly takes a firm hold on his heart, he can hear, but can feel how it struggles to beat. It’s suffocating.
“He... wasn’t lying, Baek.”, you look up and him carefully. Baekhyun focused on the way his heart seemed to beat as fast as it could just so it could free itself from the deadly grip.
A bitter, strangled laugh leaves Baekhyun’s lips and he leans his head against the wall. His empty laughter fills the empty room even though it’s not loud, Baekhyun closes his eyes and covers them with his hand as you step away from him. Tears sting painfully behind his eyelids and he can’t show them to you, he won’t.
He never felt so drained out of energy, so beat up and tired. Him, it had to be him. Chanyeol of all people. Him.
“I’m sorry”, Baekhyun chuckles at his own misery and tries not to think of how soothing your voice sounds.
The tone of assertiveness in the apology doesn’t seem like regret. Baekhyun knows regret and begging as most people would come out with in a moment like this. But, of course, you wouldn’t.
It’s the first time Baekhyun feels his heart being crushed, it’s worst than anything. He can’t compare with something, he just knows there’s nothing that could be any worst than this. Why does he have to love you so much? Why did let himself? Why didn’t he stop? But he knew from the beginning, didn’t he? All addiction end the same way.
Baekhyun swallows hard and feels his throat dry.
“Then?” He asks with his heart pounding painfully. It’s hurting, it hurts bad and he wants to hate you, to be utterly angry at you. Baekhyun wants to attatch himself to the tough that this is for the best. You’re safe with Chanyeol. With him, you could end up…
“I can’t let you go”
Your words doesn’t really get to him, they don’t add up as if they’ve been said in a foreign language. Slowly, with a frown so deep his eyebrows almost meet and tremble, working his brain around the meaning of them. Baekhyun opens his eyes, trying to see through the numbing pain and the remaining tears.
“What?” His voice is hoarse, but he didn’t cry.
“It’s not that I can’t decide”, you explain and thought your voice is not cold nor empty, it’s not the one he’s used to, because you’re holding back, “I just can’t let you go either. Not Chanyeol, nor you. I’m sorry.”
“So you want me? You still want me?” He shouldn’t be saying this, not like this with a pathetic happiness overlapping all the right feelings he should have right now. This pathetic Baekhyun happens to appear naturally before you.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 2.5 | Part 3 | Part 3.5 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Taehyung Prequel | Jimin Finale | Taehyung Finale
Previously…
Looks like you were going to have to look for another cuddle partner when you get back on campus and you had just the right person in mind…
A certain Kim Taehyung perhaps?
Jimin doesn't understand why every time he thinks he's getting somewhere with you, life throws him a curveball. It frustrates him, infuriates him to his core, and he wonders how people do this, fall in and out of numerous relationships all the time. The chase alone was tiring him out but his heart yearns for you, aches for you… despite the numerous times his head tells him this was all just too much work.
He sits in the movie theatre alone, watching the show he had planned to watch with you, his phone in his hand as he awaits your reply. At the very least, you're answering his texts now, telling him about how you've been going out to meet all your friends and he finds himself wondering if you had an equivalent to Mina waiting for you back home. He shudders at the thought of having another boy aside from Taehyung to worry about.
Jimin lets out a sigh as he watches a string of messages come in. Every attempt Jimin made at trying to explain himself, or clearly define what the both of you are or where any of this is heading, is completely brushed away by you. You would skip the message completely, choosing instead to start a new topic of conversation. Jimin tried numerous times to steer the conversation back to something along the lines of 'so, what exactly are we?' but after the 4th diversion, he admits defeat. The very fact that you're talking to him at all is something he's thankful for after all the radio silence he had experienced the previous week.
Your week at your hometown passes by fast, way too fast, you think. The bright lights of the city, the sound of traffic and the scores of people making their way up and down the streets at any given time of the day. All things you've missed seeing and hearing. The grit of the city, the orderly chaos, tells you that yes, you are finally home. You don't get a single day of rest. Each day is filled with things to do from spending time with your parents to late-night adventures with your friends. By the end of the week, you are completely exhausted but you're quite possibly the happiest you've been in a while. As you settle down on to the seat on the bus back to campus, your heart feels heavy. A bus ride back to college meant you were taking a return ticket back to stress town and you tremble as you mentally go through your class schedule for the semester. Having barely scraped through the previous semester, you wonder if you'd be able to manage it all over again.
The long bus ride lets you sort through your thoughts, to mentally go through a to-do list you will most likely never complete. You let out a sigh and rest your head against the window. The semester hasn't even started yet and you were already stressing yourself out. Your phone vibrates in your hand and you light up at the sight of the names on your screen. The only silver lining at the moment was the fact that you'd be seeing your favourite three idiots in no time.
You're one of the latest to arrive on campus, trudging through the snow in the dead of the night with your heavy suitcase to your dorm that just had to be on the other side of the university grounds. It felt odd to be back on campus again, like something was off and the bleak cloudy night sky only reminds you of the gloomy weeks ahead. It's not that you hated college as per se... you loved learning, you did, but perhaps you weren't completely satisfied with your winter break and you wanted just one more week of rest. Alas, you are here, swiping your card to get into your dorm and you feel a sense of nostalgia as you return to what is now your second home. Inside of your residence hall, you take cautious steps as you ponder upon the new look. The makeover has long been overdue and you nod in mild amusement at the improvements. The walls have been repainted, the toilets fixed up and the most notable change of all, the locks on the doors have all been replaced.
Everything was great, really, you loved that you could finally take a shower without accidentally hitting your elbows against the walls and it was nice to no longer see paint peeling off the walls but you absolutely hated the stupid new doors. You feel betrayed. It's like the university knew your sole weak point and decided to exploit it. You've always had trouble remembering to bring your key out, a fact that Jimin had gladly taken to his advantage but these new doors were going to force you to have to wear your key around your neck. You see, the doors had a new auto-locking system in place, one that had been implemented for the students' safety, the division of housing had explained but really you think it was just another gimmick for the university to get money out of their students. You have a feeling you're going to be the university's favourite resident, seeing as that by the end of the week you'll probably be paying that penalty for forgetting your key.
Your first day of classes go by okay and by okay, you mean horrible. You first find out that you have a very interesting classmate for your 8 am elective. None other than Kim Taehyung. He's great and you don't hate him, you don’t but you nearly choke him after the fourth time he prods you in class to show you a meme on his phone. He's a literal ball of energy, incessantly turning to you to whisper his ramblings into your ear and you wonder how he does it, stays all peppy for an early class without the help of coffee.
So, great, that was a small hitch in your day, one you think you can get over but then, you figure out that you're shit at scheduling because you would have one class on the east side of campus and the next one was on the west side. At least that meant walking to your classes counted as exercise and you could skip the gym? It's not like you really found the motivation to go to the gym by the time you're into your second week of classes anyway.
Next, you find out all your other classes either have some huge eight-page report or even worse, a group project, due by mid-semester. It takes everything in you to not just stop in the middle of the quad and scream your lungs out. By the time you're done with classes, you make it to the dining hall, looking like you had just come back from war and at least one thing is going your way today. At least, they were serving potatoes for dinner today.
"You look great," Jimin smiles, as you take a seat opposite him, resting your head on the table, next to your dining tray. "So radiant, so full of life."
"Don't start with me," You warn, pointing your spoon at him, not even bothering to look at him and he shakes his head, letting out a light laugh.
"How were your classes today?" He asks and you only respond with a thumbs down, your head still on the table. Jimin makes another attempt at conversation but you only answer with a lift of your shoulders and he lets out a heavy sigh.
"Hi, Jimin! It's really great to see you! Sorry, I didn't reply to your texts about having dinner. How was your day?" Jimin, quips in a high-pitch tone at a horrible attempt to mock your voice. If you weren't going to hold a conversation with him then he was going to have one with himself.
"That's not what I sound like," You grumble lifting your head to sneer at him.
"Oh the text? Yeah it's fine," He continues, completely ignoring you. "Honestly, every time you reply my text, a miracle is granted... seeing as that is how rare your replies are," He sighs. "And my day? Met this girl an—"
"I read your message and I'm here for dinner aren't I?" You grumble and Jimin smirks, knowing the mention of another girl would've got you speaking.
"Would it have killed you to send a reply like yeah, see you there?"
"Yes," You snap, furrowing your eyebrows at him and Jimin simply slides the tray down the table, his chair screeching against the floor as he gets up to move away from you but you're laughing, holding his hand, asking him to stay.
"Okay, I'm sorry," You mumble. "How was your day?"
"Fine," He murmurs, pulling his tray back towards him.
“I’m sorry,” You repeat when Jimin continues to brood, pushing his dinner around with his fork like an upset child. Jimin lets his eyes peer over at you for a brief second before he continues to sulk, letting you know a mere sorry wasn’t enough.
"You free tonight? Let me make good on that rain check. We can watch a movie?" You smile, the offer a form of an apology you were hoping he would take. Jimin tries to keep a frown on his face but you can see the edges of his lips start to curl up at the mention of a movie.
"Sure, if you want," He answers coolly with a shrug, but he's fooling nobody with that fake indifference. Jimin immediately starts wolfing his dinner down, urging you to finish yours as well but you can only laugh at him. The moment you set down your cutlery, signaling the end of the meal, Jimin is hurriedly stacking all the plates onto the tray, quickly putting it at the designated area before dragging you off to the dorms.
The both of you are tucked underneath your blanket, the lights turned off, the movie playing on the laptop and you’re pressed up next to Jimin, quietly reveling at the body heat that radiated off him. Everything seemed right, exactly like how it was last semester, except it wasn't. Your body is stiff and tense almost like you're afraid of him or worse, that you didn't actually want him here. You keep using the words buddy and bro, two words you have long since dropped within the first few weeks of meeting him. Two words you used whenever you talked to someone like Hoseok, someone you had no romantic interest in but you loved dearly. It was as if you were trying to reinforce an idea, one that he's not entirely sure he was okay with.
Every time Jimin tries inching closer, you pull away, grumbling about how it was stuffy or that your neck was itchy but you were doing that thing where you would stutter and mumble and he knows immediately that you're lying. Jimin is confused because you're friendly, responding to his flirty one-liner halfway through the movie but at the same time, you're keeping him at a distance. If there was someone who was an expert at giving out mixed signals, it'd be you. All he wants is to know what exactly is going in your mind but he doesn't ask because he knows he'll never get an answer.
There's only 15 minutes left to the movie but he hears it, your signature murmuring and he knows you've fallen asleep. With a light laugh, he shuts the laptop, placing it onto the window sill before settling down onto the bed. There's a soft whine that escapes you, you're annoyed by all the rustling but you let out a sweet sigh as you nestle your head onto his chest, throwing your arms and legs over him. Jimin can only laugh, his hand wrapping around you to rest at your waist as he relishes being this close to you.
That one week without you was miserable for him and he felt absolutely pathetic feeling that way. He wishes that what he feels for you was nothing more than a simple crush, an infatuation but the undeniable smile on his face at this very moment as he glances down at you is enough to tell him that it isn't. Why you? Why couldn't he have fallen for some empty-headed, plain personality person? The answer was because you were everything but. The problem with that was that it made things a 100 times more complicated because for the first time Jimin realizes that he couldn't smooth talk his way through this one. In fact, he couldn't talk his way through anything with you considering you would bolt every time he hints at having a semi-serious conversation. Jimin is left wondering if all of this is worth it but as you nuzzle against him, your hand finding its way to his waist, he thinks that maybe it is.
"Ouch," You mumble, recoiling in pain as you rub at your temple, your eyes blurry from the little nap you just took.
"The star nerd, sleeping in lecture," Taehyung shakes his head disapprovingly. "Wake up, class is over."
You yawn, rubbing your eyes before you swipe your belongings into your bag. Jimin's 5 am alarms never really bothered you but that was last semester when your earliest class was at 10 am.
"We have a pair project to complete this weekend," Taehyung informs you. "You have to interview someone in this class about their thoughts on different cultures."
"Is it a video assignment?"
"Yes," Taehyung smiles as he watches you let out a groan. "And lucky you, your partner is going to be me!"
You let out an even more displeased groan.
"I was really thinking about asking that other guy who was sitting two seats away from me."
"I saw him pick his nose and then eat his booger."
"Gross but that's okay, I can deal with that..."
"Well too late, I already submitted our names as a pair by email!"
Taehyung was a great guy and you loved having him around because Jimin was lazy, sure but Taehyung... he was just that kind of guy you never ever want to be in a group project with. You could see it already. You were going to be the one who would have to think of the questions, do the editing and submitting while he would just sit pretty and pat himself on the back for hitting the record button on the camera.
Jimin curses at the stupid new doors as he stands outside you room, waiting for you to come back so he could lay in your bed, using your mattress as an excuse for staying when really he just wanted to be close to you. You come striding in soon enough, your voice filling the air and a familiar—
"Jimin!" Taehyung screams as he gallops over, beaming at him.
"Tae," He smiles. "What uhh are you guys up to?"
"A stupid project," You grumble, unlocking the door to your room. "Why're you here?" You question, lifting your eyebrows at him.
"I was... I, umm... My charger," He mumbles. "Did I leave it here yesterday?"
"Don't think so," You hum. "But you can check."
Jimin busies himself with trying to look for the non-existent charger before he settles down on your bed, making himself comfortable.
"What are you doing? Up," You motion with your finger. "Out," You point towards the door.
He stays unmoving, a smirk on his face. Jimin finds it absolutely adorable that you think by putting your hand on your hip, you'd look more threatening.
"I'm taking my nap," He sighs, turning away from you and you simply look on in shock. Was he deaf?
"Yeah, I think a nap is a good idea," Taehyung murmurs as he lies down on your newly purchased carpet.
You storm over, first stopping at the foot of the bed to lightly kick Taehyung on his side before you reached over and dragged Jimin out of your bed. He lets out a light yelp as he hits the carpet. A light laugh escapes him as he watches you try to drag him across the room, his body barely moving no matter how hard you tug.
"Jimin, please," You beg, throwing his arm down. "The longer you stay here, the longer it'll take for us to get the project done."
"But, I'll just be sleeping quietly," He argues. "Nerd, please."
"No."
"Nerd—"
"Get out," You huff, pointing towards the door and you have your eyebrows furrowed, your jaw taut. Your expression is reminiscent to the one you wore standing outside of his house, arguing with him and he quickly gets to his feet, scurrying out your door before he's reminded of the fight.
Jimin returns to your room an hour later, wondering if the both of you wanted dinner but he could smell the pizza from outside your door. He stays standing out there for a little too long, eavesdropping on the conversation. Project, my ass. The both of you were happily talking about everything but whatever it is your project is on. He hears your sweet laughter and he could almost see it in his mind, you sitting in Taehyung's lap, slapping his arm teasingly after he tells another one of his horrendous jokes and then before he knows it, you're kissing him. Okay, maybe he’s being a little too dramatic and you’re probably more than an arm's length away from him but he’s a little new to this whole jealousy thing and it's driving him crazy.
All he's done in the past hour is think about all the times he's had study sessions or pair projects with other girls and 90% of the time, it ended with them doing something other than studying. Maybe that's why his grades were usually less than satisfactory... but really, he knew how Taehyung was around you and how persuasive he was.
Jimin almost feels like bursting through your door to scream hands off! but how could he when he could never get himself to tell you these 3 simple words. I like you. It was all he had to say to make everything clear. You could either a, say you liked him too or b, look at him with mild confusion and let him down easy or maybe c, simply walk away but in his mind, b and c seemed like very likely outcomes and he's not sure he could face that so the words get stuck in his throat every time. Jimin retreats to his room to brood and hope that he'd get to take his nap in your room tomorrow. Maybe you'd be in a mood for another movie by then?
The odds were heavily stacked against him this semester. He had no physics quizzes, no tv series and no unlocked door. The fact that he could no longer stroll into your room and give you no choice but to accept that he was there to stay made him feel like it was going to be so much harder to spend time with you. Knowing that you shared a class with Taehyung made it all that much worse.
A shared class meant that Taehyung would be over a lot to run through class notes or write papers together. Jimin was no idiot. He knows that you and Taehyung have a... special friendship, if you will. Taehyung knew the ins and outs of you better than anyone on this campus and not forgetting that the both of you were previous friends with benefits too. A deathly combination indeed. Add to that the fact that there are more than likely feelings that were never fully discussed given your oh so lovely behaviour when it comes to talking things out, Jimin finds himself at the losing end of this equation.
Tae has a thing for you, Jimin had guessed as much over winter break with the fact that he would constantly text you, constantly crave your attention and of course the classic side eye he'd give in the theatre, as if he was hoping that you and Jimin weren't up to something. Tae always seemed to be a step or two ahead of Jimin at every corner and you've always been more receptive to Taehyung's overtly friendly gestures. Jimin is unsure if he could compete with someone like him when it came to someone like you. Why you? He sighs. Why did he have to like you too?
You're entirely impressed with Taehyung and you're glad that you were wrong about him. The moment Jimin is kicked out, you send Tae a warning glare, one that said if your ass doesn't start doing work now, you're going to regret it which sent Tae scrambling for his bag. He takes out a folder, a multitude of questions written down on a piece of paper and you peruse the list cautiously. By the time you're done with the list, he's on his laptop with the video editing software open. He's already named the file appropriately, has a title sequence made for the video and you have to admit that you're thoroughly impressed.
"So what do you think?" He questions. "All we have to do is record it and I'll edit it."
"You're doing the editing too?"
"Yeah, why?"
"You're seriously willingly doing like 70% of the work?" You ask, your face scrunched up in confusion because since when does Kim Taehyung do work without being asked to?
"Yes."
"Marry me."
"I mean... I was thinking more like a kiss but I guess marriage is fine too," Taehyung shrugs, a smug look on his face.
You roll your eyes at him, not even bothering to reply to his statement.
"What? You think I'm going to do all of this work for free?"
"Yes, that's how college works. You don't get paid for completing your class work," You exhale.
"So what you're saying is I'm not getting my kiss? or your hand in marriage?"
Your reply is a single middle finger held up high and he lets out a light laugh.
"That's fine," He sighs. "I usually get what I want, somehow."
You brush off his comment, not bothering to look at him as you continue to write down a few comments next to Taehyung's list.
"You're a horrible partner," Taehyung groans, when he receives no attention from you.
"So are you," You snort. "I bet booger guy would've been a way better partner."
"Hey watch it. From what I see here, I've done most of the work, babe."
You wrinkle your nose at the pet name before letting out a defeated sigh.
"Fine, I'll pay for the pizza to reward you for all that hard work," You answer while rolling your eyes.
"From marriage to pizza... what a downgrade," Taehyung frowns.
"Or you can just leave and I'll find myself a new partner."
"Did you say pizza? Pizza is great!" Tae exclaims with over the top enthusiasm. "I'm thinking pepperoni but since you're paying, I'll have whatever," He smiles and you can only scowl at him before dialing the number to your local pizza place.
Both you and Tae complete the project before the pizza even arrives, which is something you would've never thought would happen considering he had the attention span of a 5 year old but it almost seemed as if he was trying to get on your good side, to impress you and impressed you were.
Between mouthfuls of pizza and gulps of soda, the two of you fall into a comfortable conversation, laughter racking through your body and more often than not you have to beg Taehyung to stop talking about his nightmare-ish dates he had been on the previous semester or you were going to have soda coming out of your nose.
"So, we never really got to talk about that night..."
"What night?" You question.
"The Mina night."
"Well that's because you probably remember none of it,” You laugh, shaking your head.
"True, but I've heard like 5 different versions so basically it was like I was there."
"You were there..."
"You know what I mean," He grumbles. "What's your version of the night?"
"Mina was being a dick, I retaliated and that was it," You shrug.
"And what did Jimin have to say to you about that night?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
"We just don't talk about stuff like that."
"So, you mean you’re just avoiding conversations about your feelings?”
Typical Y/N, Taehyung sighs. If there was one thing he hated about you, it would have to be how you hated talking things out, how you avoided conversations that would force you to reveal anything remotely emotional.
"It's not avoiding if neither of us want to talk about it."
"What exactly are the both of you?” Taehyung questions, tilting his head to one side. Curiosity getting the best of him.
"Friends."
"With benefits?"
"Why are you asking so many questions about Jimin?" You answer with a question, not wishing to talk about what happens between you and Jimin when no one is looking.
"Well I have to size up my competition, don't I?"
Silence. You’re not sure what to say because was he joking like usual or did he mean it this time? All winter he had been slipping in comments like that whenever Jimin wasn’t around but you’ve always taken them lightly… until now.
"How many times?" Taehyung queries when the eerie silence gets to him, a subtle glance to the bed to tell you what he was referring to.
"How many times what?"
"So definitely more than once,” Taehyung hums. So perhaps the both of you were more serious than he thought. He always thought Jimin didn’t do friends with benefits. He never liked sleeping with the same girl more than once… It was one of his stupid rules or whatever.
"This is ridic—“
"I've seen the both of you run circles around each other all winter," He sighs. "So what is Jimin to you?" He asks again, frustrated with the way you’re dodging all his questions.
"Why do you care?"
"I just do.”
"He's a friend."
"Just a friend?" Taehyung snickers, inching his way forward. Either you were in denial or you thought he was plain dumb.
"Just like you are."
"Oh, babe. We're definitely not just friends," He smirks and wait, when did he get so close to you?
"Well if you're referring to the past then yes, we used to be friends with ben—“
"I'm referring to the present," He sighs, his face so close to yours that you hold your breath. He awaits your answer but your mind is blank and you're not sure what to say.
Maybe you were horny or perhaps it was the pent-up confusion you have about what Jimin and you were but Taehyung's lips looks oh so inviting especially when he stares at you while licking them. It's been months since you last slept with him, last thought of him as anything really more than a friend that you may or may not have lingering feelings for and suddenly, everything surfaces, your mind even cloudier than before.
Boys, boys, the bane of your existence but you always found yourself falling right into their sneaky little traps.
"I mean if you insist that Jimin is 'just a friend' then I guess I don't mind being just a friend too," He murmurs, his lips almost touching yours. You want to have the last say, to come back with a snarky comment but your mind draws an absolute blank. All you can think about is if kissing him felt as good as you remember. Your gaze flits down towards his lips and there's only a millisecond before Taehyung is surging forward to close the distance.
His lips are warm against yours, the kiss light and innocent, the complete opposite of what your usual kisses with him are like and just as you let your eyes fall shut, he pulls away. Taehyung strokes your cheek softly with his thumb, his lips curving up to show you a winning grin and you only stare back in confusion, unsure as to why he stopped when anything had barely begun.
"W-wh—” You start, stammering as you struggle to string together a sentence.
"I told you, babe. I don't do hard work for free and I always get what I want," Taehyung smirks.
"You—"
"I'll edit the footage and let you have a look when I'm done yeah?" He smiles, putting his belongings into his bag.
Before you can answer, Taehyung is strutting out your door, his bag slung across his shoulder, leaving you sitting on your carpet, completely dumbfounded.
The semester had just begun and you had a feeling it was going to be a complete disaster because well... you're a complete disaster. You have absolutely no idea why you like to complicate things for yourself. All you had to do was tell yourself no, I will not kiss my friends and no, I will not fall for my friends but you see telling yourself wasn't the part you had a problem with... it was the listening part that you simply couldn't get a grip on.
You had come into campus with a game plan, one you had thought out fully on your bus ride. During winter break, you had time of course for all of this fooling around but this was the second semester of your sophomore year and you wanted to end the year with a strong GPA. That obviously meant you needed to cut the drama out of your life and drama always personified itself in the form of two people, that being Kim Taehyung and Park Jimin but that's fine because you had just the plan to keep everything under control without having to actually confront them. Because everyone knows that confrontation was a big no no in your books.
First, you were going to abandon your silly vendetta against Jimin and leave him be. He was going to be just a friend to you, nothing more. You figured once you stopped showing interest, he'd soon forget about you. Though hints are something you're not very good at dropping or picking up, you think you'll be able to slip one in here or there to tell Jimin hey, last semester was cool and all but I think it's best we stay just friends because you confuse me and make me feel feelings I don’t want to feel. But, how do you do that without actually saying that word for word? Well... avoiding skin contact and constantly using words like bro sent that message right? In any case, that's all you really had in your arsenal so, it was just going to have to work. You hope that in the end, he'd stay your friend because for what it's worth, you genuinely do enjoy his company and perhaps you’ve grown a little too attached to him but honestly, you wouldn't be surprised if there came a day where the both of you would walk past each other without so much as glancing at each other.
Second, you were going to keep Kim Taehyung at an arm's length because damn is that boy sneaky. You're not sure what it is about him but he always knew just what to say or do to have you right where he wanted you. He's always been flirty by nature but you also knew that Taehyung never liked being alone. Ever. He could never stand being by himself and he would latch on to any girl he saw fit to fill in that emptiness he felt and by any girl, you mean multiple girls. Whenever you dropped by his home the previous semester, you'd see an assortment of undergarments in different sizes. Don't fall for his tricks, you repeat to yourself like a mantra. You've already been burned once thanks to his best friend and you're pretty sure you're not interested in a second time.
It sounded like a great plan in your head, really it did, but it was only day 3 on campus and you had already failed miserably. You had woken up in Jimin's arms that morning, effectively rendering your avoid skin contact part of your plan a complete failure and later that day you had kissed Taehyung, on the lips. So much for trying to keep them at a distance, you sigh. It's fine, this week was more like a trial week anyway...
Week 2
You had managed to go through the rest of the first week without kissing either Jimin or Taehyung which was a feat to say the least because the both of them were really testing you and tonight was no different. Solji only watched on in mild amusement as you attempted to enjoy the welcome weekend night out at the club stone cold sober. You had decided that alcohol only made your mind a 100 times worse at making decisions so you stay clear of it. Even while you're sober, you're damn near sweating from seeing how good the boys look in their button downs. It didn't help that the both of them got extremely touchy when they're drunk but you manage to keep most of it at bay, choosing instead to excuse yourself to use the toilet every time you felt like your resolve was going to crumble.
1 am.
That's how far into the night you got before you sneakily make your way out of the club to take the late bus back to your dorm. Your phone lights up with calls and messages not soon after but you simply send the same message back to everyone, something about how you weren't feeling too well... which to some degree, felt true because what the fuck, how were you going to keep all of this up for another three months?
Weeks 3 & 4
The onslaught of assignments begin and the first round of midterms begin to near. You groan at the amount of work you're assigned and you spend every waking day studying your ass off. Taehyung spends a little too much time you feel, in your room and you're holding up good, not giving in to any of his advances but you feel like it's only a matter of time before you break. As much as you want to hate him, he always does the bulk of the work for what your professor has now assigned as weekly partner projects. He catches you staring at him like he's the universe whenever he lets you get away with the bare minimum for the projects so you could focus on your other subjects. At times, you almost, almost give in to his boxy smile and his eyebrow wiggles when he asks for a little payment usually in the form of a kiss for doing all the work but you brush him off, offering him some snacks instead.
Taehyung worries about you especially when he sees your telltale signs begin to show. The shaky hands, jittery legs and the way you'd mutter to yourself about how you can't keep up with all the work piled up on your table. He always gets you to take small breaks whenever he could to make small talk and lighten up the tense atmosphere you seem to create whenever you're stressed. You're grateful for him, you are but you can feel yourself slip whenever you find yourself grinning at one or two of his sleazy lines and as much as you love having him around, you could not afford to get yourself into anymore boy drama. Luckily for you, Taehyung always chooses to leave just before you mess up and give into one of his 'Hey babe... if you're feeling stressed, I know just the activity we can participate in to let off some steam...'
When he leaves, you get a moment of peace where you can relax and let your guard down but that peace never lasts long because the moment you step into the dining hall, you're met with another devil by the name of Park Jimin. He smiles at you from his seat, waving for you to come over and as much as you want to turn away, you find yourself in the seat opposite him after collecting your food. Dinners with him give you a chance to forget about all your homework for a while and it's not until you notice that the dining hall has seemed to empty out do you remember that you have to go to the library like you had originally planned. It was something about the way he would stare at you and listen that made you lose track of time.
Somewhere along the line, Jimin invites himself to your library study sessions, even staying until midnight with you. To your surprise, he's actually studying, actually doing work instead of fooling around like he usually did in your room the previous semester. As the night draws on, you see him struggle to focus and you can only offer him a sad smile. He's exhausted, you know as much because the poor boy had to be up at 5 in the morning every day for practice but you can't deny that his presence is comforting. You're not sure if he stays up only because sometimes you give in, and you let him stay in your room after the study session because he's 'too tired' to make it up the stairs. You groan, making a show out of your disdain for having him in the confines of the pigeon hole you call your room but you know and he knows that you love falling asleep with his arms wrapped around your waist. Though, the best part you feel is the conversations the two of you have in hushed voices because they always make you feel calm, happy even. The comforting touches, the sweet lullaby that is his voice is all you need to silence the worries you have swimming around in your head. So much for keeping him at a distance, you sigh.
Week 5 Monday
Your first round of midterms end and you're allowed to take a breather for a second. You leave the classroom right after handing in your test paper and you feel free, albeit for a short while. On your walk home, you take a detour, choosing to take the scenic route like you usually do whenever you felt you deserved a little quiet walk through the nature path that ran along the lake, which was now frozen and to the back of the boathouse. Perhaps you might even catch Jimin rowing, half naked, you laugh. As you draw closer towards the boathouse, you hear the low bass thumping and the constant shouting from what must be the rowing coaches. You take a glance through the window to find the women's team practicing and you can only watch on in awe as you witness them in all their muscled glory. You try to watch them nonchalantly, hoping that they don't find you staring but eventually one of the girls makes eye contact with you, causing you to quickly duck your head down and pick up the pace in your steps.
At the end of the boathouse, you see 3 boys furiously whispering and for some uncanny reason, you feel that they're whispering about you. You recognize them to be part of the men's rowing team but the only one you can identify by name is Jungkook. Feeling uneasy, you pull out your phone to pretend like you're busy but you still catch whatever they're whispering. They should really work on trying to gossip about people more discreetly, you scoff.
"That's her! That's the girl!" Jungkook whispers and the other two immediately whip their heads around to take a glimpse at you as you near towards them. "Fuck, she's looking. Don't stare you idiots!" Jungkook groans and you have to press your lips together to stop yourself from laughing out loud.
"What girl?" The stout boy standing next to Jungkook asks, as you walk past them.
"The dreamcrusher..." Jungkook mumbles, keeping his voice low.
"Oh the nerd girl," The tallest of the 3 remarks, a little too loud and Jungkook lets out a disappointed groan before glancing to make sure that you've turned the corner and that you're out of earshot.
Except you're not. You're out of sight, yeah, but now that the boys were speaking at a normal volume, you could hear them loud and clear. You stop just behind the corner of the building, standing in a pile of snow with your back pressed against the wall as you listened in on the conversation.
"Yeah, Y/N, I think. You know how sometimes he's late to practice and he says something like, sorry, I was up late?" Jungkook asks. "It's because he stays up to be with her or something. He's always talking about it."
"Yeah," The stout boy nods, recalling the numerous times Jimin has mentioned you. "This semester, his head seems to be somewhere else. Probably between her legs," He laughs and the other boys join in the chorus of laughter.
You can only roll your eyes at his horrible attempt of a joke.
“She’s messing with his head, I bet. She’s the reason he’s been so out of it lately.”
There’s a pinch in your chest and you can feel your palms begin to sweat.
“Damn it, we were great on the Freshman squad and he even made the Varsity squad at the regatta last year but he’s just not the same,” The stout one exhales.
“Coach said he might switch him out from Varsity to Second Varsity… maybe even the Third.”
“I love him man but he’s been piss poor lately.”
“But Varsity won’t feel the same if he isn’t on our squad…”
There’s a lull of silence, the three of them exhaling deeply.
"I don't know what it is but if he doesn't start performing more consistently, he'll be dropped from the team altogether eventually," The taller boy murmurs and you can hear the other two boys hum in agreement. "I heard coach talking about how his scholarship might be under review too…”
“Fuckin’ dreamcrusher. Wish he’d never met her.”
Your heart sinks as you hear those words and you walk back towards your dorm with heavy steps. You had no idea Jimin was struggling with his rowing and what's worse is that you were to blame. Guilt, is all you feel. He stayed up at night to console you or talk to you and never once did he mention anything about himself and maybe you were to blame because you never asked. When you reach your room, you sit in silence for a good few minutes as you try to take in everything you just heard.
A burden. That’s what you are.
Pushing people away is something you're great at, a true talent if you could call it one. You're not too good with words when it comes to emotions and you'd always try to bottle them up and sit on them, hoping they'd disappear that way, but they never do. You let your worries brew and simmer day by day until they grow into something bigger and suddenly you're grasping at anything to help you stay afloat.
It's not like you didn't want to let people in or talk about the things that are on your mind but you always felt like you didn't want to bog anyone down with your problems when they already have their own demons to deal with. If anyone ever took a peek into your brain, they'd find a large shelf of suppressed emotions and feelings pushed far back into the corner of your mind, in hopes that they'd never see the light of day even if you know that somehow they always do. It was a shitty system but hey you were still a functioning human being, albeit a slightly unhappy one. The main point was that it worked and you weren't about to just go and change it.
Until, you met Jimin.
Talk. He always wanted to talk and if you weren't going to do the talking then he was. It's like he had a sixth sense when it came to you and he always knew if something was bothering you. 'Do you want to talk about it or do you want me to talk?' is his classic line and thinking about it, the line sounds pathetic, cheesy even but it's your saving grace. He never questions you if you pick the second option, opting instead to tell you some story about him back in high school or something or the rather. In any case, either option always ensured one thing, that you'd be feeling slightly, if not a whole lot calmer than before he had asked the question.
In the beginning, you always chose the latter option even though he tried to softly encourage you into telling him that you were struggling, hurting, or whatever it was that you were feeling but you'd shrug away his question, quickly changing the topic or just pretending that you'd gone off to sleep. It was easy to keep him at bay at first but soon, it was hard for you to hide that something was off and perhaps he knew it even before you, that your usual routine of pretending like everything is fine had reached its expiry date and suddenly your left in the murky waters of your worries, alone.
“You need to let it all out, just say whatever you need to, whatever’s on your mind.”
You remember his voice as clear as day, the words bouncing off the walls in your room and ringing in your ears for what felt like eternity.
Maybe, you'd never met anyone so intent on listening to what you had to say or perhaps it was the way he didn’t look at you with those sad eyes filled with pity, instead he looked at you with ones that said, I'm here, I'm ready to listen.
Jimin made it seem so easy, so natural and you found yourself speaking about anything and everything to him. Whenever you spoke, he would gaze at you softly, intently nodding, listening and for once you felt like there was someone on this earth that you could finally talk to without having to feel like you were drowning them with your negative thoughts.
Now, lying alone in your room you can only use one word to describe yourself and that was selfish. Perhaps the boys on his team thought the both of you had nightly sexual escapades that were tiring him out or you’re just not really sure what they have in mind but you know exactly why Jimin isn’t doing as well anymore. You see, there’s a price that comes with being a shoulder to lean on and Jimin is now paying that price. It’s those heavy feelings and thoughts that you had, ones you shared with him that are probably now weighing him down and you knew it, you just knew you shouldn’t have opened up to him, to anyone because whoever listened would have to carry around your pain too. You never open up to anyone because it tires people out and you never want them to feel like being your friend was a chore, that they had to swim to keep both of you afloat. You guess, Jimin has been doing just that, swimming for the both of you, but you’re too heavy an anchor and if he doesn’t cut you loose soon, you were going to drag him down with you.
It hits you like a ton of bricks, your anxiety and suddenly you’re back at step one, cowering and shaking beneath your blanket. A burden, that's what you are and Jimin, being the boy that he is would never let you know that all these late night talks were causing his performance to take a dip because if there was one thing Jimin was never really open about, it was his rowing. You've only heard a few comments from him here and there but you know from that one night where he had opened up to you, that he was extremely tough on himself. Good was just never good enough for him because he needed to be great and he'd do anything to make sure he was number one.
Jimin might not always be the first to practice but he was always the last to leave because his one more set always turned into one more after that and then one more after that and he won't stop until one of the coaches reminds him that he has a class to get to. Everyone thinks of him as a party boy and to some extent that's true because he's always at some bar or frat house on a Friday night but what they don't see is the boy that spends his Saturday afternoon at the boathouse, lifting weights or going on a run whether it was blistering hot or icy cold out and they definitely don't see the boy that is up at 6 on a Sunday morning, trying to improve his time or endurance as he sits and rows on the indoor rowing machine, even if the stinging pain from the blisters on his palm begins to become unbearable.
You let out an exasperated groan as you bring your knees up to your chest. God, you'd never forgive yourself if you're the reason why Jimin gets kicked off the team or even worse, loses his scholarship. He had nothing to gain from the curious sleeping arrangement the both of you had and you know he probably only stayed because he worries about you or he's hoping someday you'd find yourself giving into one of his advances again... after all, you did leave him with blue balls over the winter break.
There are two very clear options to deal with the situation which were to either talk to him or avoid him. So really you only had one option, you laugh. It's not like you didn't want to talk to him about it but you have a feeling the conversation would likely not end very well if you were to mention his recent underperformance in rowing, seeing as that is a subject that he's sensitive about. Truth be told, running away from confrontation is your specialty and you're not about to try your hand at talking, which by now you're well aware of, is something you're not so good at.
"Nerd!" You hear Jimin scream followed by a barrage of knocks on your door. “Are you actually taking a nap right now?” He asks from outside and you can hear him bend down to peer through the small space between the door and the floor.
“I know you’re in there. It’s time for dinner,” He whines as he continues to knock on your door.
Just the sound of his voice fills you with guilt and you take your time getting to the door, leaving him to continue talking to himself from the outside of your room. You take a quick detour to the mirror, making sure that you looked decent, normal, like you weren’t trembling on the inside.
You finally open the door, hoping that the fake smile you have on will be enough to hide the fact that you feel like literal shit.
“Finally!” He exclaims before frowning at you. “You were taking a nap weren’t you?”
“Uh y-yeah,” You laugh nervously.
He simply shakes his head at you before he’s pulling you towards the exit by the wrist.
“I’m starving and you didn’t reply my text,” He turns back to give you a disappointed look.
“Right, sorry…”
“You know at this point I’m just used to it,” He shrugs. “Pick up the pace will you? They’re serving potatoes tonight,” He smiles, giving your wrist a sharp tug.
You smile back at him quickly shuffling along behind him.
Dinner is torture because everything is just too perfect. The dining hall is serving your favourite dish and Jimin is cracking joke after joke and for a second you forget that he’s probably absolutely miserable inside. You try bringing up rowing during a short lull of silence and you watch as he frowns and waves away your question with a quick my rowing’s been fine before he changes the topic. You almost sigh out loud, unsure as to how you hadn’t realized sooner that he always seemed to brush away all of your rowing related questions this semester. The guilt sits on your chest like a heavy concrete block and you can’t help but frown at the boy before you.
You’re sure Jimin notices that something is off because he keeps giving you quick glances as the both of you take a seat at one of the empty tables in the library. There’s a question itching at the back of his throat but you’re so focused on your worksheet that he decides on asking you later. You spend your study session completely buried in work, not allowing yourself even a second of rest just so your mind wouldn’t wander onto less than happy thoughts about the boy sitting across you. From time to time you allow yourself a glance at Jimin and sometimes he catches your gaze sending you a greasy wink or a soft smile and you feel your heart flip flop in your chest. You felt horrible for causing the poor boy so much pain because god, it was never your intention, it really wasn’t.
At half past ten, you hear a soft thud as Jimin lets his head sink down onto the table, murmuring something about a quick nap and you can only look on with soft, sad eyes. You quickly push all your belongings into your bag before softly tapping on his shoulder, telling him it’s time to go. Jimin’s head perks up in confusion before he rubs at his eyes to look at his watch.
“But, it’s only 10.30?” He questions, giving you a confused look.
“I’m tired,” You whisper, giving him a sheepish look. “Let’s go,” You beckon as you stand up from your seat.
Jimin packs away his books as fast he cans, quickly trailing behind you as you walk towards the exit. The moment you push the door open, you let out a groan as you watch snow fall from the sky.
“Fuck,” You mumble. “Bet they’re gonna start clearing the snow just when I fall asleep tonight,” You sigh before shuddering at the thought of the sound of metal scraping against the tarmac.
Jimin only laughs at that because he sleeps through it all the time while you’re not as fortunate. You often gaze at him during those times, wondering how he seemed to be able to sleep through just about anything.
The two of you shuffle along, half jogging to get to your room, to escape from the cold and the moment you unlock your door, the pair of you quickly dive beneath the covers to find some warmth.
One last time, you sigh internally. You were going to allow yourself to be selfish just one last time. With your head placed on his chest and your knee hiked up to his hip, you worry your bottom lips with your teeth, wondering if you should say something.
“So do you want to talk about it or do you want me to talk?” Jimin asks out of nowhere and you furrow your eyebrows in confusion.
“Huh?”
“You’re doing that thing,” Jimin sighs.
“What thing?”
“The thing where something’s bothering you but you refuse to talk about it—”
“Nothing’s bothering me,” You interrupt.
“—or acknowledge it,” He laughs.
Damn him and his stupid sixth sense. You choose to stay silent, afraid that you’d give away something just by opening your mouth to speak.
“Okay, I’ll talk then,” He smiles, filling in the silence and you let out a sigh of relief because you’re not sure why he’d let you get away with it this time but you’re not about to question his choice either.
So, you listen, letting out light laughs as he tells you a story about how Taehyung, Hoseok and himself had ended up landing themselves three months’ worth of detention in the second year of high school. You wondered what high school would’ve been like if you had a friend group as mischievous as his. As much as you love the story, the sound of his soothing voice makes it difficult to fight off the way your eyelids refuse to stay open.
Jimin hadn’t even reached the crux of his little tale yet but he hears you murmur incoherent sentences, your slow breathing a sign that you’ve long fallen asleep now. He lets out a quiet sigh before a small smile graces his lips, his thumb running over the skin of your thigh innocently. He wonders if he’ll ever get tired of the fact that he’s always telling you stories that you never bother to stay up long enough to listen to. All he knows though, is he’ll never get tired of this, of your soft grip on his waist and your head neatly tucked under his chin.
Tuesday
[7:22] Jimin: nerd
[7:22] Jimin: where are you?
[7:22] Jimin: dinner????
You wipe the pizza grease on your hands on a tissue before picking up your phone to type in a reply
[7:24] You: i’m at tae’s
[7:24] You: evil professor just assigned us some crazy ass project
[7:24] You: can’t do dinner, sorry ☹
You let out a sigh of relief as you tuck your phone back into your pocket. You hate your professor, you do, but in some way you’re grateful for the project because it meant that you had a legitimate excuse for missing dinner with Jimin.
Both you and Tae work through the night, collecting articles to cite for the 8-page paper on cultural appropriation that your professor had assigned this morning. Sometimes you wonder if your professor feeds off his students’ stress or misery because it’s the only plausible reason to explain why he would want a draft by Thursday and the final essay to be submitted on Sunday.
It’s Taehyung who finally drags you off to sleep at 3 am. He physically lifts you and places you onto his bed seeing that you had refused to heed all his earlier warnings. When you try to climb out of his bed to look for ‘one last paper’ he basically traps you in his hold, refusing to let you go until you close your eyes and go off to sleep.
Taehyung never voices out the fact that he worries about you, he only does it silence. He remembers the screaming match you had with him outside the library when he told you that you were being ridiculous, worrying so much that you were making things bigger than they actually were. Perhaps he shouldn’t have said that and he regrets his choice of words to this day but he didn’t know how else to tell you that you were ruining yourself from the inside out over something you couldn’t change the outcome of. He should’ve chosen more comforting words, ones that would make you feel warm and safe but he had tried that before and it hadn’t worked. Now, Taehyung stays silent, never daring to mention anything about your behaviour but he lets you know through sweet gestures and soft touches that he’s here for you. He hopes that it’s enough, that you do see that he’s trying to make sure you don’t beat yourself down too hard because his heart can’t bear to see you in pain like that. To Taehyung, you’re somewhat akin to a fragile doll or maybe even a ticking time-bomb and he’s afraid one wrong move would mean you’d shut everyone out again, where you’d retreat so far away that he couldn’t reach you.
Maybe it was silly and cliché sounding but you’re the first girl he’s met where he feels like he doesn’t have to pretend to be someone else just to impress you. T’was like a dream come true when you propositioned him to be friends with benefits because well you were you and who didn’t want to be friends with benefits with you? Though that arrangement was great, he rather enjoyed your company outside of that arrangement, learning little facts about you, teasing you until you begin to stammer and blush bright red. He felt so much for you and maybe that’s how everything went south, because he wasn’t supposed to. The both of you had agreed to the no strings attached part of the deal and here he was, feeling like you could play him like a puppet. Maybe he was slightly delusional but he always felt like you had felt the same way about him too because no matter what it was, you found solace in his company too. It had to be true right? Why else would you know so much about him and him so much about you? Why did he seem to know more about you than your supposed fling or whatever the hell Jimin was?
Jessica.
A mistake, an excuse, a reason.
Taehyung remembers the ugly feeling of jealousy creeping up on him when he sees you kiss another boy at a party. He had almost stormed over to pull you aside until he remembered that he had no right to do that. After all, you and him were nothing more than friends with benefits. Taehyung simply broods in silence as he watches you skip away with boys who weren’t him and he wonders how he got here, feeling stuck on you when you didn’t seem to have a care in the world for him.
He never expected it, nor did he go looking for it but it all seemed to happen and unfold in front of his eyes faster than he could blink. Taehyung only remembers being frustrated and upset, moping in a corner after watching you leave the party with someone else and that’s when he met her. She was loud and blunt, straight to the point, two things that you weren’t and from the get go, he was hooked. Jessica came swooping in like an angel, her voice silky smooth and her touches addictive and before Taehyung knew it, he was trapped, completely enamoured by the girl before him. He saw your face twist in displeasure when he introduced her to you and the rest of his friends but he brushed away that scene, chalking it up to a figment of his imagination. Whether it was or wasn’t, it didn’t matter because you had been clear from the start that you hadn’t wanted feelings to get into the mix of whatever you and Taehyung had. But that’s just who Taehyung was… he had a problem with being alone while you rather enjoyed it.
Taehyung remembers your face when he said things were getting serious with Jessica and whatever he had with you had to stop. You smiled at him, nodding, saying that you understood but he could feel the insincerity that radiated from you. You could deal with not having Taehyung as your fwb anymore but you couldn’t deal with the fact that he simply didn’t have time for you anymore. He was… he was your confidant, your solace and suddenly he was nowhere to be found. Perhaps it was for the best, you exhaled. It was difficult, trying to keep your feelings at bay and no matter the other guys you left the parties with, you could never bring yourself to go any further than second base with them because of the twinge you felt in your chest. A twinge that told you that you had feelings for another man, the same man you remember swearing to that you wouldn’t let feelings get in the way of the peculiar arrangement that the two of you had set up. You’re not sure how you got here. Maybe it was the lunches you had with him between classes which always had the both of you talking up till the very last second before you both run to make it on time for both of your classes or perhaps it was the hushed post sex conversations that were filled with laughter more than anything else or maybe it was his ability to remember every single thing about you, even the slightest detail. All you know is, you’re in trouble.
You remember being alone, so alone now that the only person who had seen you at your lowest was too occupied to be worrying about you. The shaky hands, the sleepless nights, the endless train of horrible thoughts that you had to deal with alone. You’re not doing great on your own but you didn’t want to give in, to call him up when he was obviously so happy with her… so happy… without you. You didn’t want to hate him because you were happy for him but it was like he had completely forgotten about you. Were you really just sex to him? Did the endless days of chit-chatting amount to nothing in his mind? Good riddance then, you sigh. You didn’t need him in your life, you didn’t need anyone.
It was a particularly horrible day, you remember. Finals were soon approaching and just like that, your anxiety was amplified and just nothing seemed to be going right. You’re internally panicking as you struggle to get through the last of your assignments and you’re so caught up in your work that you don’t hear the chair in front of you squeak against the floor. There’s a soft touch on your wrist and you perk up, eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you see a familiar set of pearly whites.
“It’s time for a break, babe,” He coos, handing you a cookie and you wave your hand at him, choosing to return to your work.
Babe, you scoff. He hadn’t been replying to your texts or calls for 2 weeks now and he had the audacity to call you babe.
“Hey, come on, just eat it and take a break,” He whispers, sliding the cookie towards you. You simply glare at him sliding the cookie back in his direction and his smile immediately fades. Taehyung rises to his feet at that, walking over to tug you out of your seat and towards the exit. You’re struggling against his grip trying to pull away from him but before you can protest, he’s dragging you out the library.
“What the hell’s your problem?” You ask, finally tugging your wrist free.
“What’s yours?” He questions in return.
“Look, I don’t have time for this,” You grumble, turning away to walk into the library.
Taehyung quickly steps in front of you, blocking your path and you swear under your breath because truly, you had so much to get done and only so few hours in a day.
“What do you want, Taehyung?”
“Solji’s worried about you. She called to ask me to talk some sense into you.”
You let out a scoff, shaking your head because wow he could answer Solji’s calls but he couldn’t answer your texts?
“She’s just being ridiculous,” You mumble. “I have it under contr—”
“No, you’re being ridiculous,” He interrupts. “Have you looked in the mirror lately Y/N? How much longer are you going to do this to yourself? You’re going to burnout before we even get to finals week.”
“You don’t understand.”
“Then help me understand!” He exclaims, grabbing you by the shoulder because god, you looked like you were seconds away from breaking apart and he didn’t want to see that happen. “You just have to stop for a second and breathe, Y/N. You’re just stressing yourself out and all of this is so unnecessary. It’s all in your hea—”
“Don’t fucking complete that sentence.”
“Y/N, please, I’m worried about you and I need you to just fucking stop and take a br—”
“You just don’t understand,” You cry, a tear slipping down your face and Taehyung knows he’s fucked up now but goddamn it why wouldn’t you just listen to him?
“So, talk to me! Explain it to me until I understand!”
“You won’t understand, you’ll never understand how much my parents are expecting of me,” You shout, tears almost falling out of your eyes as you pointed to yourself. “I have to do this, I have to do well so, stop with this fucking bullshit!” You screamed as you pulled your wrist from him and headed back into the library.
Just like that, Taehyung knew he had screwed up monumentally, essentially making the situation worse than it already was but fuck, it pained him so much to see you like that. The way he lashed out at you is one akin to when you’re a child and you put yourself in harm’s way and you stand there sobbing as your parents scream at you, even when they’re glad you’re safe, unhurt but they’re so mad with you but only because they care, care so much. There were probably a million other ways he could’ve handled that situation but he couldn’t keep his emotions in check.
1 and a half weeks. That’s how long his ‘relationship’ with Jessica lasted and in the process of that plus the weeks before where all he did was try to get to know her better, he had damaged his friendship with you. You had just slipped from his mind momentarily and he thought you were doing just fine without him so he ignored your texts, knowing that seeing you meant that he'd be stuck halfway between you and Jessica.
Taehyung spends the next few days with his finger constantly hovering over your number but he never finds enough courage to actually press it. He spends hours forming an apology speech in his head but really, what could he say to you that would help erase what had already happened?
It was perhaps the third day after the incident when he sees his phone light up, your caller ID flashing on his screen. He answers the call to hear your voice, quiet and unsure as you ask him out to lunch and he agrees immediately, already halfway out the door before the call ended.
Taehyung sees you sitting in a quiet corner of the café, hands nervously playing at the hem of your shirt. When he reaches the table, he greets you with his signature smile and his heart almost breaks at the way you look at him, so guilty, so worried. Apologies start spilling out of your mouth the moment he sits down and he’s so worried you might start crying in the middle of this café. It’s okay, it’s fine, I’m sorry too, he says over and over again but you never stop with the sorrys and thank yous until he reaches over to hold you by your shoulders, shaking you softly as he laughs while saying it’s alright Y/N, really… if anything, I’m at fault too.
You know you were wrong to lash out at Taehyung like that that day but you were so caught up in your emotions, your anxiety making it difficult to just step away for a second and think. He was trying to tell you to calm down when you had started screaming at him, pushing him away when all he wanted to do was to help you. Maybe it was those pity puppy dog eyes he flashed you that made you snap or his less than careful choice of words but all you know was that was his way of showing you that he cared and you were more than grateful for him now that you’ve had time to think about it because he’s been there for you more times than you can count.
Solji, she was what you’d consider a close friend, someone you gossiped with, laugh at movies with but Taehyung, in the short time you’ve known him, had become your best friend. He knew all about your family, your likes, dislikes, fetishes, just anything and everything. How the two of you had shared so much about each other just through those lunches is beyond you and you’re thankful to have someone like him but you had to be selfish, had to fall for him out of all the students on campus. You couldn’t find a way to put into words how you felt about him so when the semester ended, you did what you did best, which was to disappear. Taehyung was the most jubilant soul you’ve ever met and you couldn’t imagine him being weighed down by someone like you so you wanted your friendship to die a natural death. You didn’t want him having to worry about you, for him to be the friend that others approached when you weren’t doing too good because he deserved better. He deserved a better friend, a better lover.
Taehyung hates how you deal with problems because you never really solve them, simply avoid them but maybe this is the one time he’ll ever be grateful for your odd solution to avoiding conflict. There’s something off between you and Jimin which he can’t really pinpoint but it’s not the winter romance he had grown sick of seeing but rather a subdued romantically-awkward friendship that was neither here nor there.
You and him have always been an almost couple, he believes. You both harboured feelings for each other, or so he thinks but neither of you ever got the chance to say anything. When the new semester started, and he finally got a hold of you after complete silence over the summer break, he thought he’d have a chance to start fresh with you but murmurings of a fling between you and Jimin stood in his way. He got a chance to start fresh, he did, but this time you and him were just friends… which was not at all what he wanted but beggars can’t be choosers. What were the chances of you being placed in the exact same discussion section and same wing in the dorm as Jimin one would ask? The answer was almost zero and yet it happened. It was like a nightmare come true for Taehyung and he could only watch in horror as his worst fears came to life. If there was one guy Taehyung didn’t want to compete with, it was Jimin.
Jimin was way too interested in you for you to simply be ‘just a friend’ as he had claimed many times in the early semester. Taehyung loved testing the boundaries, knowing full well that Jimin’s feelings for you had begun to grow, probably unbeknownst to the boy himself but Taehyung knew the signs all too well because he had been where Jimin was mere months ago. From frequent flirty texts, to answering your booty call that night, to marking your neck with hickeys, Taehyung could feel the jealousy radiating off Jimin grow with every encounter. What both you and Jimin did behind closed doors will remain a mystery to him but all he knows is if he wanted to have a chance with you, all he needed to do was keep himself in the picture, ready to take Jimin’s place if he ever messed up.
Jimin wasn’t good enough for you and to Taehyung, neither was himself but if anything, a relationship with him would’ve been a lot less painful than a one with Jimin. Having grown up with the boy, Taehyung knows better than anyone that Jimin would lose interest in things at a drop of a hat and that’s why Taehyung never bothered buying that new game or toy because sooner or later, Jimin would come strolling by letting him have whatever it was at a discounted price as he didn’t want it anymore. Though this principle only started applying to girls when he started college, Taehyung wanted to keep you as far away from him as possible and that’s probably why Jimin never really heard of you until the start of the second year.
The perfect boyfriend.
It had been something you used to describe Taehyung once over lunch. You had mentioned it so casually while Taehyung on the other hand was struggling to keep his heartbeat at a steady pace.
“The perfect boyfriend,” You laugh, taking the cookie that Taehyung had just offered to you. “That’s what you’d be you know?”
“I-I—”
“You’d hold doors open, buy roses just because, have their favourite cereal in your pantry, remember every single important detail, celebrate all the little anniversaries, buy them their favourite food,” You smile. “If you weren’t such a fuckboy, you’d really be the perfect boyfriend.”
Taehyung wasn’t sure if you were hinting at something or just spewing your thoughts without a filter like you sometimes do but he simply decides to scowl before throwing a French fry in your direction.
Taehyung has a problem. He acknowledges the fact that he just couldn’t seem to stick to one girl but maybe with you he could, maybe you’d be that one girl. He was comfortable with you, never had to water down his quirky, bubbly self when you were around and lucky for him, everything seemed to be falling in place for him this semester. From the fall out you had with Jimin over winter break, to the shared class he has with you and the many pair projects to come, he thinks he’ll be able to make you see him in a different light. He knows you doubt him, that you lump him and Jimin into the same pot as just boys who couldn’t keep it in their pants, boys who chased after skirts endlessly but he wasn’t like that, not when it came to you.
He smiles at the fact that you’re here, between his sheets, snuggled up next to him like he had always wanted. The perfect boyfriend, he smirks. Perhaps it was time he lived up to the title you had given him.
Jimin Finale // Taehyung Finale

You're The One // Baekhyun
requested: Hi! Can I request a scenario where Baekhyun tries to convince you that you’re the one he’s going to marry. Super childish Baekhyun and fluff please :)
genre: fluff
words: 0509
You were just heading to the bathroom and not even five minutes he’s already checking out other girls while thinking you’re still in the restroom. You couldn’t believe it.
If that’s how he’s gonna play, two can play at this game you thought. Coming back to your table you pulled out your chair with a screech, pulling Baekhyun back from whatever he was looking at. The look in his eyes knew he was in trouble.
You were smiling. Too wide in fact. A sarcastic smile he is familiar with when he knows he’ll die soon. “What were you looking at Baekie?~” you look around trying to find what he was looking at.
Oh, that pet name. The pet name you use whenever you’re mad. You look back to him with a fake questionable face, but a gaze with fiery.
“I swear I wasn’t checking her out! I was just looking quickly to see if she was familiar! I swear baby” he pleaded trying to make you believe him.
“Hm. okay. It’s fine, babe.” you replied. Baekhyun looking at you with bewilderment from your reply.
“Okay? That’s it? You believe?” he questions and you gave him a small hm and drank your frappe.
Right when you drank your frappe two guys walked into the coffee shop and your eyes moved to them. Not taking your eyes off even after they’ve sat down just a table away from you guys.
Baekhyun furrows his eyebrows and looked at where you’re looking at and he knows you’re in for revenge.
“Babyyy” he whined, still not taking your eyes off of them, acting oblivious to him, “If you could please stop checking out others guys it would be great!” He exclaimed jealously. Not seeing any movement from your eyes to him he pouts, “Babeee" he whines while holding onto both of your hands, trying to get you to look at him. You were looking anywhere and everywhere but him.
“I’m sorry for looking at other girls, but for the record, I was NOT checking them out!” He childishly said.
You sighed and looked at him, those brown puppy eyes staring right back at you with hope swirling in those irises, “I’m still upset at you for looking at them. It can only be me that you can check out or stare!” you childishly retort.
“I know I know I’m sorry baby. Would you forgive me?” He scoots his chair around and tries embracing you, but you turned away from him. Being the stubborn nut you are.
“C’mon now. You know you’re my favorite. My beautiful girlfriend. The girlfriend I love with all my heart and will marry.” He chuckles softly seeing you slowly give in.
You blush at his comment and bury your head into his neck, “I love you with all my heart too. I better be the one you marry!” you childishly mutter in his neck. “Yes, my future wife” he chuckles and brings your head out of his neck to plant a kiss on your lips. Both faces with wide smiles.

You smile to yourself before typing a reply. Your footsteps matches other few strangers around you, family, friends and lovers that you see having fun with each other in the restaurants and stores that are still open for business even, though it’s late. You see a few of your friends, but you avoid them this time, deciding to keep this small talk with Baekhyun instead.
It doesn’t last long. Soon enough you’re finding a way, a poor excuse, to end the conversation, deciding that a quiet moment to yourself is what you need. Baekhyun isn’t really what you want when he’s not around and there’s nothing he can help you with at the moment. In short, you don’t need him, you need this, some quiet, peaceful and soothing time. Something Baekhyun never really offers to you, you just can’t see that in him.
It’s just when you stop to look back, to make sure you’ll remember the way back to the hotel, that you realize how far you came. Remembering the way won’t be a problem, the hotel is on the top of a hill, the way is safe even if it’s night, so you just keep walking ahead with the only difference of pulling your jacket closer to your body. The cold night wind has a particular smell that resembles something that makes you happy, though you can’t really tell what it is, the nice weather actually warms you a little, giving you this fuzzy feeling of welcome and gentleness. You really love this place.
The sounds of squeaking shoes on the floor and the particular sound of the ball hitting the floor are familiar to you, you grew accustomed to this kind of sounds since you’ve been the basketball team’s manager for so long. Something that started as a joke with the person that is now the team’s captain ended up being something you liked and took it seriously.
Without realizing you walk towards these sounds and you see just what you expect, two boys playing basketball. However, what you don’t expect is seeing them playing as if they’re at NBA’s playoffs or something, they’re so eager to win over each other. You walk closer, admiring their ability and can’t avoid a gasp of surprise when you recognize that one of them is none other than...
“Chanyeol?”
Somewhere in the back of his mind, Chanyeol tells himself that’s his mind playing tricks on him even when he’s so focused on the game. Your voice, carried by the wind sounds much like he remembers when you whispered his name that day. Then, he makes the mistake to look up and just dumly stare at you, which gives enough time to his opponent to score easily. As the other celebrates by himself, Chanyeol stands there, just for a moment, his eyes widen a bit when he sees you standing there, feeling his cheeks burn a little and something stuck in his throat. He’s panting, exhausted because of the game, the other guy, obviously older than him.
“I thought you said you were better than me now?”
The older smirks and hooks his arm on Chanyeol’s neck and drags him away, unaware of you or the way Chanyeol’s eyes has a hard time looking away from where you stand. The friend keeps provoking him, misinterpreting his silent. You barely listen what they’re talking and walks closer to make sure you didn’t see it wrong.
“Park Chanyeol?”
The older guy still has his arm hooked around Chanyeol’s neck, he stops talk to the all-too-quiet Chanyeol under his hold and both of them turn to look at you. While Chanyeol is still lost in his own feelings you look up at the other stranger, ready to apologize for the interrupting the game. It’s only then when you recognize him too, you couldn’t tell from afar when he’s dressed casually instead of that expensive suit you saw him wearing when he personally welcomed you and the group at the hotel earlier upon your arrival.
“Y/n!”
Kris smiles brightly, loosening his hold on Chanyeol, enough for the boy stand straight, both of them out of breathe.
“Is there something wrong? Any problems at the hotel?” He frowns a little and looks behind around, taking a deep breathe, “Are you lost?”
“Uhm…”, you look around embarrassed, “Yeah, I guess so”, you scratch the back of your head, “But I’m pretty sure I can find my way back”, you nod in reassurement, “And the hotel is great, I can’t thank you enough for having us”
Kris nods and his eyes slides to Chanyeol, following yours and his lips part in understanding when he sees the daze in his friend’s eyes. He has to hide his amusement, but a well-knowing, subtle smile appears on his lips.
“You don’t need to thank me”, he says in a polite, but business-like well-rehearsed tone, that different that one might think doesn’t sound annoying or forced, “I’m glad you’re enjoying your stay and if you really ever have a problem, don’t hesitate in letting me know, but--”
He trails off, smile a wider this time, just enough to seem more friendly and casual as he tone starts to imply. Kris pats Chanyeol’s back in a way that is casual to you, but reassuring and induces courage into his friend before pulling his hand away.
“For anything else, Chanyeol’s a much better company than me. He knows the place even better than me, so you’re in good hands”
He picks up his jacket and leaves, sparing a friendly wave at you and Chanyeol before walking into one of the gorgeous houses surrounding the park. You look at Chanyeol who avert his eyes away from you, licking the sweat off his lips and takes off his cap to push his messy hair back the best he can.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to spoil your game”
You don’t mean to stutter, but being alone with Chanyeol feels weird when you can see he’s looking for the best way he can to escape. It occurs to you if you should you use this opportunity to clean things once and for all between the two of you, but Chanyeol seems uncomfortable and you remember than soon enough this won’t matter since you probably won’t see him after the end of this next semester anyway.
“Ah, no!” He bites the inside of his cheek of being in such a hurry to talk, but his words just kept coming out, wavering in hesitancy. “We’ve been playing for quite a while. I was about to ask for a break--”, he scratches the back of his head a little embarrassed, “It’s not like I can beat him at an one-on-one anyways”
“It looked pretty tied to me”, you confess as you approach him, “I distracted you, I’m sorry”
Chanyeol looks away to hide the crimson red blush that spreads from somewhere under his loose shirt and despite the cold weather, he’s feeling quite hot. Busying himself with taking the ball off the ground he gives himself sometime to cool off and placing on his jacket, laying on the bench.
“No, it’s okay. Really”, he licks his lips and places the ball a little too careful on the bench on top of his jacket. He takes a second to turn and look at you, “How– How about a drink? Something warm since it’s cold”, his words are still hesitant and he cringes at them and he regrets right after, but you nod.
“Sounds good to me”
Silly enough, that surprises him. His eyes open wide and for a moment he doesn’t quite know what to do with himself.
“Ah, good! I’ll– be right back”
Chanyeol fumbles with his feet a little clumsily and he doesn’t quite know what to do with his hands
“The machine is right there”, he points at the vending machine standing at one corner of the park not too far, you can see part of it, the other part is hidden by one of the park’s toys for kids
He’s already walking away when he realizes the money he has is in his jacket. He stops and turns only to realize that you’re closer than he thought and his breathe gets caught in his throat making him choke. You frown in concern as he look away coughing, you reach to pat his back, but that only makes him a little more nervous. Chanyeol words are rushed and he can’t look at you as he speaks again.
“Wait here. I mean on the bench is more comfortable. I’ll be right back”
You hold the ball as he takes his jacket with him, taking large steps to the machine and as soon as he gets there he crouches on the floor, regretting and cringing at his childlike behavior. Why can’t he act like a normal human being when he’s next to you?
When he comes back, you’re sitting on the bench, playing with the ball in your hands. Chanyeol takes a deep breathe before approaching and sitting next to you.
“Here”, he offers you a hot cocoa drink
“Thank you”, you notice his soda then, “What if you catch a cold?” You point at the can in his hands while cupping yours in your hands to warm them a little.
“Ah, don’t worry. I’m not that cold. I’ve been playing for a while”
You watch him open and take a big gulp on his drink before opening yours too and Chanyeol tries not to seem obvious when looking at you while you’re drinking.
“Is everything really okay?” You hum questioningly and looks at him, “I mean… For you to be walking around like this”
“Ah! Yes, it’s fine”, you cup the warm can on your hands again and takes a deep breathe, looking away from him, “I don’t know why I’ve been thinking a little too much lately and I can’t sleep. I thought it’d help if I walked around a bit”, when you look back at Chanyeol, he’s caught staring and looks away, drinking his soda and chokes again, and again you pat his back, “Are you okay?”
“Uhm. Sure, sure. I just–”, he has to let out another string of coughs, feeling stupid he clears his throat once he’s feeling better, “I’m okay”, he clears his throat again.
The cold soda can freezes his hands, so Chanyeol places it on the bench beside him and rubs his hands with his eyes on them, too worried to look dumbstruck yet again to you.
“I guess, the season and the fact that we are at a turning point--”, he starts, “These things gets to us easily”, hesitantly he looks at you, “I think about those things at night too”
“I thought I was overthinking”
“Maybe we are”, you chuckle and nod at the thought that someday you can think back and ridicule your own thoughts.
There’s a small pause and you don’t notice Chanyeol is staring at you again as you take another sip on your drink. He really doesn’t know what to do with himself when he’s with you.
“There’s something I wanted to tell you”, you speak up and he blinks
“Wh– What is it?”
“I want to apologize”, you look at him and he can feel his heart skip a beat
You turn to him a little and he’s glad there’s some distance between the two of you because it’s already hard for him to breath as it is.
“Apologize?” He frowns, “For what?”
“About that day when you took me off the way from those officers chase. I– I’m sorry if–”
“No. Wait. Why’d you apologize for that?”
“I thought, somehow I offended you back then. You’ve been avoiding me since that day.”
Chanyeol remembers that day clearly, how his heart stumbled when he realized how close you where. He never really tried to look at you and see how beautiful you are. He couldn’t understand why it was so hard to let go of you back then, how good it felt having you close to him or how tempting it was when you looked up at him and your breath fanned over his lips and he had to stop himself. Since then, everytime he sees you it’s the same thing and by now it hurts a little too much already, so he tried keeping his distance. As stupid as it sounds, he doesn’t want to get a ‘no’ for answer.
Honest to the heavens, Chanyeol didn’t thought what he felt that day would turn into anything. That night, at home, he thought everything would be back to normal the next day, but after a sleepless night where that moment kept replaying before his eyes, either if he kept them open or not, in many different ways… The moment you walked in class and his heart stumbled dangerously in his chest he became a little worried about it.
“You didn’t do anything!” He rushes to say, looking directly at you
What could he possibly say to you? There’s absolutely no way in hell he’d tell the truth and he looks at his hands, trying to make up a good excuse.
“I thought I overreacted that day. I thought maybe I offended you”
It’s partially the truth, he was afraid you heard his heart beating because he could hear, he though you noticed him blushing and somehow could make things awkward.
“If it weren’t for you I’d be hurt. I’m not offended.”
“Still, I’m sorry I avoided you”
“Apology accepted”, you say it playfully and he smiles at you, “The homeroom teacher said you had an urgent matter to attend before coming. Did everything turn alright?”
“Ah, yes. I was offered a scholarship and the conditions are... Well, they’re really one of a kind, but–”, Chanyeol pulls on his lower lip worryingly before sighing at his reasons.
“You couldn’t say yes?” He sighed and nodded, hanging his head low.
“They said I have time to decide, so they’ll wait until the applications are closed. Stupid decision, right?”
“If it’s an stupid decision what you did, I wonder what mine was”, he raises his head to look at you
“Yours?” You hum, tapping on the hot cocoa can in your hand with your nail distractingly
“The homeroom teacher called me in his room and the college representative was there. She proposed a lot, but I just– I couldn’t say yes to it. I mean, I’ve been waiting for that opportunity for so long, but--”
You gulp down and the weak smile you wear makes you took lifeless, but you don’t mind. You didn’t realize how much that has been bothering you and how nice it is to speak with someone who really understands instead of judging you like your parents and your friends, or tries to simply comfort and distract you as Baekhyun would.
“She said, they would wait for a proper response after the graduation ceremony”, you nod to yourself in a dismissive manner as you look up at the empty street before you, “But, somehow, I’m afraid I’ll make the wrong decision”
There’s a small silence, a mutual comprehension shared between the two of you. You realize all these bothering thought you’ve been having was born there, from this one. All your doubts, all your insecurities originated from this one thing and you know Chanyeol has been battling his own thoughts almost in the same way. You know, he’s feeling the same way you do, but it’s all too much to put in words, so this quietness is a mutual understanding that, strangely enough, don’t need words for each of you to be understood by the other. Both of you know the problem won’t disappear, but it’s less buderning, it heals the anxious feeling and the agitated state of mind both of you has been dealing with.
“It feels like a trap, right?”
“Huh?” You look up to Chanyeol and he pulls his cap higher, some droplets of sweat run down his face
“I mean, if you say yes, then you have all that and probably the career you want, but you wonder if there’s anything better”, he sighs and takes off his cap and stares at it without really seeing, “You keep asking: is this really what I want? Have I ever wanted something different?”
His damped hair with sweat stick to his forehead, a few strands falls on his eyes, you never saw that expression on anyone else but you when you’re alone, looking in the mirror. It’s the same sorrowfulness, same distress, same uncertainty, it’s all there.
“But then, if you say no and regret. How bad can it be? How fast can you recover? And people-- They’ll talk about it and that can be either the best or worst decision we could ever make--”, he trails off, “We start questioning too much.”
He looks at you and gasps in surprise with a shy smile, he scratches the back of his head while sitting back on the bench and you try pulling yourself together again because you’ve been staring at him this whole time.
“I’m sorry, I’m just blabbing here”
“No, you’re right. I have the same thoughts I just... Couldn’t voice them like you just did.”
“It’s good to know I’m not paranoid”
“Well, maybe we are”, you quote him and he chuckles
Despite him still being shy, it’s easy talking to Chanyeol. He understands what you mean with little words and complements them and you see yourself doing the same. It’s not long before the two of you are talking freely about less burdening topics, smiling and laughing to each other as if the two of you are picking up from before.
That night he walks you back to the hotel and has to go back to Kris’ house, but when you’re in your room and curiously walk to balcony, you see him glancing back and waving at you, you wave back.
⁎ ⁎ ⁎
When you go downstairs for breakfast that morning you meet Chanyeol even if it’s bright and early in the morning. He helps you wake up the others and settle the schedule since he knows the place very well. Nothing else is really important during the rest of the day, it’s all laughter and good memories and it’s only almost by the end of the day when you remember to text Baekhyun again, he always replies right away.
You’re about to reply when you’re pulled by the others to team up with Chanyeol for a game since it’d be such a problem if he and the basketball’s team captain got together in a game that is basically that, so Baekhyun’s reply is left unread, your phone’s practically forgotten in the pocket of your jacket.
Chanyeol knows he’s good at achieving any goal as long as he sets his mind to it, but when it comes to you, he lacks confidence. You’re the only one thing that he just can’t get himself to try a little harder, his confidence fails everytime he sees you, he has never been so scared of a single word before. He can’t bear the thought of you saying ‘no’ to him and he doesn’t mind if, out of everything, he doesn’t mind being called a coward for pretending that everything is all right now that he supposedly cleared his reasons for being distant.
Obviously, as good teammates and friends they are, the basketball team just can’t get any of it. Not just them, but Chanyeol is obvious enough that everyone but you notices, even stranger, in a glance can see it how it looks like a one-sided love. Yes, it is that cringe-worthy and frustrating for them to just stand there and watch, especially when there’s no secret that they root for the two of you. Naturally, Chanyeol’s closest friend, his teammates, decides to help and soon enough they manage to get everyone away as an excuse to get them to explore the festival, leaving you and Chanyeol alone.
“I hope they don’t get into trouble”, you mutter to yourself as you pick up your phone, swiping Baekhyun unread message off your screen without really paying attention to it, “I’ll send them a text to keep their phone in hand and call if something comes up”, the two of you walk side by side down the a beautiful, yet crowdy surroundings, “Sometimes I feel like I’m looking out for a bunch of elementary school students”
“I’m sure it’ll be okay”, Chanyeol bites his lips seeing you send the message in the group’s chatroom and his own phone vibrates on his pocket.
He looks away and his eyes meet the team’s captain who’s leaving in a group with other boys.
“Do something!” The boy mouths to him, making wide gesture, his frustration is shown, “Guide her around!”
Another one of the classmates, points to a tent where there was some kind of game you’d probably like and both of them hurry Chanyeol to take action with wide, frustrated gestures. The ever so hesitant and shy Chanyeol starts taking you around, explaining little things about the festival and local traditions and his heart stumbles every time you smile to him. You take his hand to drag him somewhere and he wishes he wouldn’t tremble, but that’s a side effect of touching you, you say something about how you’ve wanted to try one of the festival’s local treat you heard about and he finds it for you.
The festival ends with beautiful fireworks and by then everyone’s gathered again at one spot to see the spectacle. The fireworks lights up the night and you stare at them, coloring the sky beautifully while Chanyeol found the perfect spot for the group to watch the show. But, he can’t really look anywhere else but you. The way those fireworks light up your features when you’re sitting right beside him… he just can’t look away and he’s too dazzled to even pretend he’s not staring when you look at him. He simply smiles, embarrassed for being caught, but all you do is smile back and look up again.
He can’t understand how easily he felt for you, he thought if he kept his distance, then someone like him, who’s bad at hiding his feelings, wouldn’t burden you. The problem is having this opportunity and being with you, he can hear his heart questioning him, he can feel himself getting greedy and he wants to hold back, but you’d probably never know how hard it is when you look so good just... Being there. Just smiling, just being yourself.
Chanyeol has to pull himself back, he has to step away from you and bite his tongue, he makes sure to not be close to you all the time when everyone is enjoying themselves. He sits with the other boys and thought he gets annoyed by their scolding for being slow, for not doing anything. Still, that’s better than being beside you, afraid he’d say something.
⁎ ⁎ ⁎
“No, wait”
The basketball team shifts on his feet, ignoring the fireworks and paying attention to Chanyeol instead after the boy told him why he won’t tell you he likes you.
“Are you… serious about this?” The other asks in disbelief as the rest of the team watches in curiosity, “Chanyeol! We all know you’re a freaking genius, but you’re being a complete idiot right now”
The boys are visibly frustrated with Chanyeol’s choice of just stay by your side like that.
“Hyung--”, one of the junior whines, “This doesn’t even work on TV”
“The two of you are thinking about different career paths. You said you might even study abroad, so it’s obvious this can be your last chance! What do you have to lose?”, the captain speaks up again
“Actually, we might end up going to the same college… Maybe”, Chanyeol says
“What? How?”
“The homeroom teacher told me”, he shrugs and one of his friends facepalm themselves
“So… You’re waiting for destiny or something?”
“What? No!”
“Then, what? Park Chanyeol! Come to your senses. You can’t do this to yourself!”, grabbing his shoulders, the team’s captain makes Chanyeol look at him, “This trip is an one-of-a-kind, golden ticket from life to you. You should just confess while we’re here and if Y/n says no, move on!” The boy tries to sound as convince as he can, but he sounds a lot more frustrated, “You can just leave everything behind when we get back home. If Y/n says yes, then I sincerely hope the two of you will be happy. We all do”
Chanyeol looks around and sees some of the others nodding or giving him a encouraging smile, but his stomach is turning just by thinking about it. The sounds of the fireworks is loud, but he can hear his heart hammering in his chest, his stomach turns and it kind of makes him feel sick.
⁎ ⁎ ⁎
‘I must be out of my mind’ – at least that’s what Chanyeol says while he’s waiting for you.
The boys, and your friend, made this chance happen and he could call it off if he wanted, but for some reason, he didn’t, wants this. He wants this chance to hear distant possible yes from you, although the no is a constant fear, Chanyeol wonders how can a simple word be so threatening.
He wait for you at the balcony of this coffee shop you loved when he was with you in the group the day before, apparently calm and casual, but his leg’s shaking under the table and once in a while he licks his lip. On the table, in front of him, is sitting the third glass of water and the waiter serving him is already pitying him thinking he was dumped, but it’s not that you’re late, he came a little to earlier. He read the time wrong and the guy told him that if he wanted to order something, it’d be on the house.
‘Isn’t this too much?’ – he thought to himself for the tenth time that day. But forgot about it all and lost his ability to breathe properly the moment he saw you walking down the street and pulling the door to the coffee shop. CHanyeol swears his heart is about to jump right out at any given moment and his hands tremble, he only notices when he tries waving just so you’d notice him.
You do notice him and he pulls his hand back to his lap, squeezing them together and only them realizing his palms are sweating like crazy. He wants to make sure he looks nice, he wants to look good for you. Now his whole body is trembling as you step closer with a simple smile on your lips that is just perfectly fit and beautiful on you. Chanyeol’s certain to have never been this nervous in his whole life.
“Are you okay?”, you frown a little while sitting across from him and with the corner of his eyes he sees the waiter glancing, “You look a little… pale”
“N-No, I’m fine”, and now he’s stuttering.
“Maybe we should order something already”, you barely raise your hand and the waiter is already on his way. That kind of helps him a little because it gives him time to calm down
“Where’s everyone?”, you ask and Chanyeol when the waiter leaves, “I thought they’d be here”
“Uhm… They wanted to go somewhere else”, he managed to say without letting his voice waver, “We can leave too– if you want”, he adds soon after
“No, it’s okay. Did you wait too much?” You asks, looking at the glass of water in front of him
“No, not really”, he lies
“Chanyeol, are you sure you’re okay?” You sound worried and he feels terrible, but not out of sickness. Well, discounting his nervous state, “We can go back if you want--”
“I’m alright don’t worry”, he smiles and would pat himself on the back for sounding normal and because his smile didn’t falter, didn’t tremble
“Excuse me”, he waiter says when arrives at the table and lays the orders on the table.
There’s a pause where you focus on your food and Chanyeol wipes his sweaty hands on his jeans before, making sure their not trembling before reaching to his drink.
“Y/n, there’s–- there’s something I want to ask you”, he wets his lips and shift on his seat when you look up curiously at him
All of his hesitation and bottled up anxiety, you can hear it in his voice, he knows it and it makes it all worse. The way the others planned, supposed to be cool and smooth and easy. It is not. It’s anything but any of that. You put your hot cocoa down on the table to pay attention to what he has to say.
Being with Chanyeol is completely different than being Baekhyun. They’re completely different one from another, Chanyeol has gentle and expectant eyes looking for yours. He’s innocent and adorable instead of cocky and the he treats you, the way he understand you. It’s easy yet exciting, it makes you happy even when you don’t need to. It makes you smile wider without the need of you being worried or sad, or stressed. When he pauses to look in your eyes you notice how your heart vacillates unexpectedly.
“Y/n, I--”, he wets his lips, “I like you”
