AG mashups are BACK, baby, and better than ever!
Kono Shin this is a bit egregious! Dance Man gave a shout-out to Boogie Wonderland as a big influence on his work on Love Machine, but that's not nearly as obvious as it is here!
Meanwhile, the Tsunku composition magic is real. "What if Earth Wind and Fire but more chords" is, well, straight fire.
I decided not to switch mash configurations before the chorus, but know that I did explore both combos. Plus the obligatory BOTH AT THE SAME TIME MAXIMALISM!!! for the final chorus.

♫ September ♫ (Redux)
I was determined to play a song about ‘September’ tonight, and I have 3-4 in my repertoire, but I played all of them last September … I do try not to be too repititious! This one, however, I have played three times since I started doing these music posts — in 2018, 2020, and 2023 — but NEVER ONCE have I played it in the month of September! Last year, I actually played it in January! Wishful…

'The Color Purple' (2023) Movie and 4K Review
The following review was written by Ultimate Rabbit correspondent, Tony Farinella. It wasn’t that long ago when I had the pleasure of reviewing 1985’s “The Color Purple” on this very website, and I absolutely adored the film. When I heard there was going to be another adaptation, I was eager to see how it was going to turn out, especially because it was going to be a musical. Musicals are…

SXSW: The World According to Allee Willis
To know Allee Willis is to love her any zest for life, the arts and humanity as a whole. https://wp.me/p2v8yf-6jH #theworldaccordingtoalleewillis #SXSW2024 #SXSW
Shortly after a chance meeting with Bruce Vilanch and Allee Willis after a cabaret in Los Angeles, I would get these invitations to “kitsch” parties from Allee. Regretfully, I never attended and after screening this doc, I am confident I missed out on teh opporutnity of a lifetime. Willis’s songs have sold over 60 million records, including Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September”(which was inducted…

EWF Brings Joy to ‘September’
Do you remember the 21st night of September? I don’t. I’ve racked my brain trying to remember something significant about 9/21 and I got nothing. The question is the opening lyric of Earth, Wind & Fire’s 1978 hit “September.” According to Allee Willis, who co-wrote the song with Maurice White and Al McKay, EWF’s founder/leader and guitarist, respectively, “twenty-first” just worked better than…

fun facts
when Frida Lyngstad first heard the backing track for "Dancing Queen", she began to cry. "And that was before me and Agnetha had even sung on it! I knew it was absolutely the best song ABBA had ever done", she said. Agnetha Faltskog added: "It’s often difficult to know what will be a hit. The exception was “Dancing Queen.” We all knew it was going to be massive"
Allee Willis said of "September": "The, kind of, go-to phrase that Maurice used in every song he wrote was ‘ba-dee-ya,’ so right from the beginning he was singing, ‘Ba-dee-ya, say, do you remember / Ba-dee-ya, dancing in September.’ And I said, ‘We are going to change 'ba-dee-ya’ to real words, right?‘ And finally, when it was so obvious that he was not going to do it, I just said, 'What the fuck does 'ba-dee-ya’ mean?‘ And he essentially said, 'Who the fuck cares?’ I learned my greatest lesson ever in songwriting from him, which was never let the lyric get in the way of the groove"
