Just to add a bit more fuel to the fire with the Camazotz situation: Fun fact, Quetz is one of the designs Nasu personally got involved in.

it's honestly kind of funny that from the start Nasu has gone out of his way to ensure that every South-Central American would be pale skinned. Quetz took the body of a pale skinned worshipper for some reason, Jaguar Warrior is a Taiga pseudo, Tez and Teno chose to be white, Itzpapalotl (as minor as she is) is trapped in Douman, Kulk kinda just looks like that, and now they reveal that Zotz ended up becoming dark skinned after he used to be pale. If it truly is Nasu just being ignorant it's a hell of a lotta coincidences.
