Hi there! I’m the anon who asked about Ramsay’s mom before. Thank you so much for answering! If you don’t mind, I figured I could ask one more thing about Ramsay’s dad to round things out.

Basically, how does Roose view the whole Ramsay and Theon/Reek relationship? Both in canon and in your AU’s, is it something that disgusts Roose? Is it uninteresting or expected given how he views Ramsey? Does he consider it useful at all to him? Most of all, does Roose believe that Ramsay is capable of love, and does he think that the relationship is an example of that?

In canon (both show and books) Ramsay's "relationship" with Theon is more implied than shown onscreen. Heavily implied, but still just implied. So we can only speculate on canon!Roose's opinion about it. I think it's suggested that he finds it a little distasteful, but overwhelmingly does not give a fuck. The "my kid is weird but whatever" vibes are strong. Frankly, nothing shocks Roose.

For Roose, Ramsay's relationship with Theon is exploitable in two ways: 1) making use of Theon's connections, and 2) controlling Ramsay. #1 doesn't always pan out (depending on the au, Theon's standing in his family and with the Starks is widely variable), but #2 is always viable.

Pretty much the only thing that keeps Ramsay from going absolutely wild is his need to please Roose. His daddy issues have kept him leashed for years. If Roose's approval ever stops being Ramsay's first priority, then that's a problem for everybody. Thus there is value in having Theon as an additional point of leverage to control Ramsay.

In Katabasis, Roose is kinda annoyed that Ramsay's obsession with Theon has overridden Roose's own influence, but he doesn't get worked up about it or anything. Roose is an opportunist, but he's also super passive - more passive than he should be - to his son's actions.

Someone wrote me the most amazing email and I just have to share it: “Wow, man, you always make these crazy-long albums. Amazing. Congrats on another VERY successful body of work. Once again, I really dig it. I was expecting something more somber from the album description, but was pleasantly surprised. There's something slightly retro to it, like a glisteny chrome and neon cyberpunk kind of aesthetic, but I don't at all mean that as a negative. The vibe is strong. The dubby filigree makes the sound stage rich and deep. High tech cities in the rain...this is the ultimate soundtrack, for me, of that vibe. But ultimately feels hopeful, despite some grit and tension. I do also like that you have this skill to make really long tracks that don't wear out their welcome. That is a skill not to be undervalued or underplayed. Just enough repetition to keep the listener in the headspace, just enough variation to keep the pieces evolving and changing to stay interesting. Lots of layers to reward repeated listening. Ambient electro, almost, and I don't use either of those terms in a derogatory or contemporary sense. It rewards attention when given but also just sets the tone and you can just let it glide in the background, but it imparts a sense of energy rather than calm.” So there you have it. I don’t tour, I haven’t played live in 6 years and that’s how you really get heard these days. So I really appreciate that someone gets my vibe in a very clear way.
