I’m only just now seeing this, but I completely agree with everything you said.

I take comfort in knowing that Lauren Lane was fine with their relationship, considering if anyone were to have a reasonable issue with it, it would have been her (C.C. WAS a punching bag for Niles, after all). Her interview with Emeril in 1997 also contradicts the ‘i DoN’t GeT iT’ or whatever from FD and DD, as she mentions it’s “not a secret” that during season 4, they were “doing some heavy duty, love/hate attraction” and goes on to say that we’d probably see more of that. I have to wonder if they put the breaks on it for a bit due to LL’s pregnancy, but I don’t really see why that would be an issue or the cause. In May 1998 she gave another interview where she said about C.C. and Niles, "We will be tying up lots of loose ends, and there has been this constant sexual tension thing between them." “So it was maybe Season 3, I went to the producers and writers and said, ‘Listen, it’s not going to be fun anymore if we just see her getting beat up. Except it’s Niles. And, uh...in other ways it also contradicts what she said during the filming of the show. I dunno. Even this reaction isn’t as cold as some of the ones from DD (tbh I haven’t really read what Fran has thought about Niles x CC...whoops). I notice he jokes in Cameos about kids with CC and the marriage and even talks about what he thinks they’d be like if they stayed together, so I don’t know if I even take the negative things DD says about the Niles x CC relationship seriously. He and LL seem to love to joke about it, with LL calling him her ‘TV husband’ and he’s willing to joke about what I said before, even though he ‘doesn’t get’ the coupling of CC x Niles. Yeah, okay. LOL. (I know this probably has more to do with their irl friendship than anything else...shhhh!!! :P)

Which brings me to this: If Daniel Davis and Fran Drescher did not want or understand the Niles and CC pairing, who did? Was the pairing Peter’s idea? Another writer? How many of the writers supported it? Clearly Fran was not one of them. Did the writing of them becoming a couple only continue because Lauren was fine with it? I think to answer my own question, the pairing would have happened whether both actors were okay with it or not, but I am obviously curious. Clearly LL understood the pairing, unless she just didn’t want to say otherwise at the time.

My biggest fear is that if they were to somehow revive the series, that Niles and CC wouldn’t be together and they’d just hate each other in a really nasty way. I don’t know how they’ll write them for the musical, should that go through. To me, Niles and C.C. will always be a couple. They deserve each other, lol.

Actually I want to point out one more thing, and it’s just a little thought of mine: In season 5, there was an episode where C.C. and Niles teamed up against Fran. While it’s silly, clearly Niles and C.C. could get along. When Fran and Maxwell weren’t in the picture or weren’t the focus, they didn’t poke at each other and their relationship wasn’t toxic. And in the final episode when Niles makes a comment about thinking her underwear was his? He is poking at both of them. Which makes her final line even more special.

Just a little rant...

Every time I fall into The Nanny Google and YouTube hole and accidentally see Fran Drescher and Daniel Davis saying that they didn't get the Niles and C.C. ending I want to claw my eyes out. I love them both but are you effing kidding me? Have you ever rewatched the show after 1999? Because I have and it is obvious that they were sliding fast towards a Niles and C.C. endgame, especially after season two. And I am not just talking about one kiss or a torn up check in the living room (which is the best television there is, don't get me wrong) but also the amount of foreshadowing in dream sequences, multiple random dates, accidental meetings, missing each other and so on.

I feel like people got the feeling of a rushed ending because of season five, which was treadful. There were small moments but in general there was a lot of backpeddaling regarding Niles and C.C. and her delusions about Maxwell grew to another level, which didn't make any sense after season four. A whole four season character development just stopped and was thrown out of the window. Why?

I personally think the writers just didn't know what to do. The show had naturally grown to a point where they had to make big decisions in order to go forward. And the writers were afraid to make them.

Firstly, the will-they-won't-they of Fran and Maxwell was becoming boring and repetitive. And the writers were cautious to take the leap because of the fear that they would lose their sexual tension. I hate to break it to them 30 years later but it was already kind of gone by the end of season four when their relationship had taken over the entire show. The engagement and marriage should've happened earlier, so they could've concentrated on new storylines in season five. Honestly, Fran could've struggled with becoming a mom and the difficulties of having two toddlers running around. God knows the other Sheffield children were all grown up by then, living their own life and were mostly used as props who brought tea and sandwiches to Yetta. And with that a lot of the funny conflict between Fran and Max was gone too.

Secondly, the writers were afraid that if they would dive into the relationship of Niles and C.C. they'd lose the funniest back and forth of the show. I can kind of understand that but then again I can't. I'm sure they could've figured out a way to keep the zingers coming. I don't know, write Lauren Lane's preganancy into the show, make the father an intriguing mistery for a whole season, then reveal it's Niles and go from there. Have they had a secret relationship for a while? Maybe. Did they have a one night stand but C.C. wasn't ready for more? Maybe. Create some tension. I mean, you guys. The possibilities. The twists and turns. The tension.

Anyway.

I would advise to Fran and Danny to watch the show again. They can skip most of season five. The only life changing event there was the wedding. Season six makes sense again and is actually totally in line with everything that happened in seasons one to four.

Niles and C.C. were meant to be, fight me.

But he told himself he was done trying to win over men a long time ago, hell  why the hell would he lower himself any further than he had for this guy?! He wouldn’t, he couldn’t, he didn’t..except Baby didn’t take the time to realize that he was broke ( he didn’t want to admit to his parents the lifestyle he’d been leading so going back to them hadn’t really been an option ) and while not wanting to get back into the business for a lover who didn’t want him anymore. Baby could go back into the business for revenge while he waited around for something less soul sucking or dick sucking to be more realistic. Make more money than before just to rub it in that stupid assholes face, yep that was the plan. How dare he leave Baby, how dare he hurt him over what, paper? Baby was tired of feeling sorry for himself and decided to jump right on back in head first, making a name for himself as one of the bigger new porn stars in gay porn and at such a prime age he had his whole career ahead of him in the industry. But money and revenge didn’t buy Baby what he really wanted, leaving him in his current spot, more alone than ever, wanting to be more than just a pretty face with a degree in sex. 25 Days of Christmas #2 Santa's Slay Starring former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg (that doesnt sound like a Christian name) as Santa, the immaculate conception of Satan and some lady, who's forced to give presents on Christmas for a thousand years after loosing a game of curling. But the thousand years are up and now the murdering can begin. Yep. It's not very good.  Most of if is shot during the day and everything is bright and evenly lit and it looks flat like cheap television.  The acting is bad, most people seem to mug to the camera like they're doing a half assed rehearsal they aren't taking seriously.  Plus there's very little to no actual gore.  Probably because the killer is a pro wrestler so they pretty much have him do a bunch of punches and kicks and throw a lot of people.  But he does spear someone through a deli counter so it has that going for it. It also seems like they spent all of its money on getting recognizable actors in the opening scene.  Rebecca Gayheart, Fran Drescher, Chris Kattan (ok maybe recognizable at the time) and James fucking Caan all come to a quick and early demise in the first scene.  It's like they wanted to trick you into thinking it's a real movie (Hey I know that guy!) It's not all bad.  It doesn't take itself seriously so it's never painful. There's also a neat little flashback done in stop motion Rankin and Bass style.
