Door.15 ~ Family fun in the snow ~
Acacius x wife!reader
warning : fluff, kissing
Summary : The war was over, at least until the moment when Acacius had to be called out again. But for now, all that mattered was his own family and, above all, his wife and children. Even a general had a right to family time together in the snow.
ifno : If it was Geta and Caracalla's turn then Accaius had to get a door too, have fun with this fluff and see you next time ;)
masterlist ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the drums beat loudly through Rome, trumpets heralded an arrival and the people crowded together awaiting the return of their army of sons, fathers, brothers and uncles, there was no stopping them.
All flocked to the forum, to the main square where it seemed to rain gold when the Roman ruler returned led by just one man of legendary deeds and conquests.
General Marcus Acacius a man who was a hero of the people, the warrior of the emperor and most of all for his wife the husband and his two children who were eagerly waiting for their beloved father to return...but most of all it was his wife, his heart, his love who was waiting for him, praying to the gods until late at night and making offerings to the altars every day to wish for his health.
But until now he always returned, always came back into her arms and took away her fear with a kiss, ,,I would never leave you behind, not your beautiful heart and not our love” he always promised her before he rode out of the entrance gates to the harp to leave with his military and be gone for another few months to a few years.
But he came back that year too, the ships moored and warm rough hands resting on her hips as he hugged her, ,,The little snowflakes missed you,” she admitted as Acacius and she looked in the bedchamber after thicker winter clothes.
From outside they heard the shouts and childish cries as the two threw snow at each other, ,,My heart was always with you” she heard his reply and looked at his fur-lined toga and the fabric that almost covered his mouth it reminded her of a big fluffy bear.
Giving him a kiss on the tip of her nose, she also wrapped fur around her toga and held tightly to his arm as the couple walked out into the garden. It was winter and not only was it getting colder, the wind was getting sharper and the snowflakes were beginning to fall silently.
,,I win!” she heard her daughter shout as she threw another ball at her younger brother who barely understood what was being played, he laughed and tried to catch the ball, holding the snow only to let it go, ,,A good hit" she heard Acacius say and he broke away from his wife to pick up their common son and help him throw the snow back.
The laughter became a shriek as the firstborn had to watch out for the snowballs as the small battle in the garden went on with the mother joining in and a chaos of a battle ensued, from piled walls, to small and large balls, to stealthy sneaking as she pounced on Acacius who was rolling in the snow with his wife.
,,Retreat! The goddess has done us in,” he said, his hands tightening around her as he pulled her closer into an embrace, his lips finding hers and both of them lost for a moment in the kiss, finding rest and, above all, peace. Until they heard their daughter, who had taken her brother by the hand to go back inside, grimace as she saw the two adults kissing.
She and Acacius laughed as he slowly rose from his wife and helped her up and knocked the snow off her as the couple went to their children and the family went back into the warmth where they sat together in front of the fire bowl and listened to their mother's fantasy stories and Acacius gave her another kiss as the children fell fast asleep. Winter in Rome could also be full of warmth and, above all, love.
