In my heart of hearts I truly do just want to write a self insert that interacts with the main story that's it really
#all of my self inserts are extremely indulgent and are locked into my Brain#but there's one concept that I've been thinking of lately that's vry fun and I've been tossing it about in my brain#they're a baby born from a templar father who managed to escape some time around 15 or 16#they began training from a very early age as their father wanted a soldier who could go head to head with the assassin's on their own turf#alot of cultish and bad stuff happened but they were managed to be rescued by a novice who became their first friend ^-^#most assassin's are still skittish and untrusting of her considering her templar upbringing but she was kinda... indoctrinated? from birth?#and had wanted to leave YEARS ago but only managed it in their teen years#but anyway. she usually works alone or with her two other assassin friends as one: no one really trusts her to begin with#and two: big BIG anxiety that makes it hard to work with people when they know that they're largely seen as a threat or liability#she's pretty high on the assassin ranking though! and their little team has a damn high success rate so vry few people have reason-#to complain. mostly newer recruits or those with a BIG grudge against templars in general#anyway physical description time. theyre like altair and that they only rly wear lighttttt armor. heavy or even mid armor is a big NO#vry vry sneaky and patient. is mostly an opportunistic assassin and relies more of stealthy tactics than brute force#but because of this they are NOT a super heavy fighter. usually tries to lean on surprise and skill rather than 1v1 fighting#if force comes to shove though they can most def fight. but tries to flee the moment they find an opening#is pretty mute! keeps things close to her chest and is still in the process of learning to trust anyone at all. even assassin's#wears black and white feathered earrings as well as small golden hoops. has a bunch of piercings#is much MUCH on the smaller. slimmer side but it actually kinda works cause most dont clock her as an assassin at first glance#this makes them good for infiltration and scouting work!#best pair for them is a more brute force assassin who leans towards defense :]#theyre a lil guy. I love them alot. they also have some isu bullshit going on that I might explain

A/N ~ So this turned into a 2.6k fic... its very self-indulgent. This is actually my first fic that isn’t reader insert... i hope you enjoy😄 It cheered me up a lot to write!! Also a small cameo from Princess @scorpiosanssexy x Prince Ennoshita :33
Climbing the particularly grand staircase, Lydia started to wonder if there was a reason she was never gifted with such a grand life. Her family had always looked after the castle for the royal family that lived here, but never anything more than just maids.
When she turned 18 she was told she could be the princesses personal maid, waiting on her hand and foot. Which she accepted wholeheartedly, always taking a liking to the shy girl. They were the same age and therefore got on like a house on fire.
The princess had always said they were best friends, however she knew that the Princess would never be able to admit that in the public eye. To be close to your maids and kitchen staff was frowned upon in the royal community.
She was taken out of her thoughts as she reached the Princesses room, knocking to make her aware of her presence before entering into the large room. Just like the rest of the castle it was grand and very pink.
A 4 poster bed lay in the center of the room, filled with thick duvets and blankets. Your eyes scan the room for the girl, not noticing her you realise she's probably buried under all the blankets.
‘Princess Carla, you gotta eat your breakfast today. It's the big day, remember?’ She reminds her as she sits the tray down on the side of the bed. Starting to remove each layer of blankets before finding her underneath curled in a ball.
‘Are you okay?’ Lydia asks, perching next to her and rubbing her back softly. She looked lost, conflicted and slightly angry. All she did was hug her tight in response.
‘Please Lydia… don’t let them marry me off to that prince, you know i am already in love!!’ Princess Carla cried into her shoulder, the boy she was talking about happened to be a friend of the castles that would come and visit every month.
They got on like a house on fire, constantly flirting and exchanging looks across the room. Honestly Lydia was surprised the princess hadn’t told the King of her infatuation with him.
He was handsome and definitely of royal status, sadly Prince Ennoshita wouldn’t be able to marry her because her father had other plans and their kingdoms were already in alliance.
‘Carla… you can’t marry Prince Ennoshita, your Father has arranged for you to marry Prince Daichi to help unite the 2 kingdoms… for an alliance’ Lydia replied looking her dead in the eye. She hated seeing Princess Carla this upset and realistically she wanted to tell her to fight for her man.
‘Come on let's get you ready… you love it when i do your makeup right?’ Lydia smiles as she drags her over to the vanity. Carla nods as she lets Lydia do her makeup and hair. As the time went on Lydia could see Carla getting more and more sad. Not even the sight of her beautiful form in the mirror as Lydia slipped the beautiful navy dress over her shoulders, the makeup and hair matching perfectly could cheer her up.
Her eyes looked elsewhere, as if she was thinking about everything that could be if she had just told her father about Prince Ennoshita. Lydia sighed as she grabbed the Princesses bag from across the room handing it to her and giving a sympathetic smile.
‘Come on let's go meet your Prince..’ She started pushing the Princess towards the door. Walking down the corridor the air was silent between the two. Making their way towards the throne room Princess Carla stops just before the doors.
‘Is there any way I can get out of this?’ She sighs and hangs her head.
‘You haven’t even seen him yet, he could be the most handsome Prince in all the kingdoms, keep an open mind, he might surprise you…’ Lydia replied trying to urge her to keep walking.
‘He isn’t Prince Ennoshita so that's false information’ The princess replied sadly, all Lydia could do was chuckle softly as they walked through the grand entrance to the throne room. The King seated upon the throne, smiling the minute he set eyes on his daughter.
As they got closer Lydia noticed two other men who she assumed to be Prince Daichi and King Kuroo (*pls omg this is all i could think of name wise omg my brain was like hehe king kuroo sounds funny-_- i hate it here*). Her eyes unable to leave the smaller man's figure, he was buff but not overly muscly and as he met her eyes they were filled with kindness. This was unusual to see in a prince, due to them often being spoilt and very arrogant.
Prying her eyes away as she snook a glance at the Princess, she was staring at the ground, clearly unphased by the extremely handsome Prince's presence. As they reached the king he smiled widely at his daughter.
‘You truly do look beautiful, doesn’t my daughter look beautiful?’ His gaze directed now over at the two men. The older looking one nudging his son to reply.
‘Yes she looks amazing, that dress is really her colour.’ Prince Daichi replied smiling at the Princess. At this point Lydia had stepped off to the side standing with her Mother, who is the King’s personal maid.
‘You did a really good job picking her outfit and doing her makeup, she really does look good.’ Her Mother whispers causing a wide smile to adorn her lips. Little did she know as she was smiling away, eyes focused on the princess, the Prince had his eyes on her.
Taking in all of her beauty, why did he feel so drawn to her? He was meant to be marrying Princess Carla for his Father, for his Kingdom, so why does he feel such an ache in his heart when he looks at her maid.
Before they all knew it the Kings were ushering the Prince and Princess out into the gardens to get to know each other, arms linked. To Lydia’s surprise even the Prince looked disappointed, not obviously, but she could tell he was faking his happiness ever so slightly.
She wondered if maybe they were in the same position, loving someone else but having to marry all for the sake of their kingdoms. Shaking her head she followed her mother back into the maids quarters, there was a ball in a couple days time to show off the new couple to the whole kingdom and she was allowed to go as a guest, at Princess Carla’s request.
This meant though she needed an outfit, even though she had no one to impress due to her low status. She still wanted to feel good in herself. Picking out the fanciest dress she owned, she couldn’t help thinking it still wasn’t good enough.
Grabbing some extra fabric and her sewing kit she started to get to work. Adding to certain areas and jazzing it up to be ball worthy. The fabric was originally a navy blue, Lydia had managed to find some gold fabric and with that the dress was finally perfect.
As she admired herself in the dress, the bell started chiming from the Princesses room. Sighing she quickly changed out the dress and back into her normal clothes rushing off to the Princesses quarters.
As she got there something seemed off, the King was standing outside her room.
‘Is everything okay your grace?’ Lydia asked curtseying as she approached.
‘Ahh yes! Perfect, I need you to distract the Prince… Carla seems to have locked herself into her room.’ Lydia blinked. Distract the Prince. She had never spoken to any royalty beyond the ones in this castle, not only that she was only a maid. He must be panicking to ask something so big of her.
‘Go on then we don’t have all day!!’ He shouted as he knocked once again on the Princesses door. This shocked her into movement as she started walking down the corridor, as she rounded the corner she realised she didn’t ask where the Prince actually was.
Mentally face palming she started to search the castle for him. Eventually finding him sat on the bench in the gardens.
Taking a deep breath she starts to approach him, wondering if she looked as nervous as she felt.
‘Prince Daichi… The King sent me to find you.’ She started fiddling with her hands, his back still facing her.
‘Oh thank you, is the Princess okay?’ He replied, turning and smiling at her. Motioning for her to sit next to him.
‘Yeah, she just locked herself in her room. She can be difficult at times, but i promise she is a lovely girl you just need to give her time. She can be quite shy.’ She said as she sat next to him, it was unlike royalty to be so normal with her. Usually she was talked down to not at.
‘Its okay, I get this isn’t exactly what she wants. She loves someone else, correct?’ He asked, his soft brown eyes boring into hers. She couldn’t tell what he was feeling, he didn’t sound upset or dissapointed.
‘I don’t think that's really my place to say…But you got that all from 1 meeting?’ She gave him a sympathetic smile as she tried to read his every reaction. He seemed at peace, happy almost.
‘Yeah… her eyes seemed elsewhere when i was talking to her. She also kept talking about the ball. I think maybe the person she is in love with will be there.’ He sighed and got up holding his hand out to help her up.
Taking his hand and getting up she thanked him before starting again. ‘So your not upset?’ She asks curiously.
‘I don’t think I can be upset, it's not the most ideal situation. I would much rather be able to marry someone I actually am in love with than someone who I am forced to learn to love, and even then if she married me, she might never love me’ He smiles down at her as he replies.
‘That's true, i’m sure a handsome prince like you won’t have any trouble finding a wife though’ Lydia chuckles as they start to walk back towards the castle.
‘I guess you are right, but i don’t want just any wife…’ He said looking her over slightly as they entered through the throne room and towards the dining area.
The rest of the day was spent laughing and joking together. Lydia was glad for his company, she hadn’t felt like an equal in a long time, when she was around him she felt like someone cared.
Little did Lydia know that Daichi felt the same, he felt drawn to the girl and he didn’t know why. All he knew was that when he was with her everything felt right, he felt like he had no responsibilities and no weight on his shoulders.
By the end of the day the two couldn’t stop smiling.
‘Prince Daichi, it's been really nice to spend the day with you! But I'm afraid I have to go prepare the Princess for bed.’ Lydia said, slight disappointment in her voice as she curtseyed him in silent thanks for the day.
‘Will i be seeing you at the ball tomorrow?’ Daichi asked hopefully, curiosity laced in his tone.
Lydia nodded shyly before disappearing around the corner, a bright blush coating her cheeks the minute she got out of view. He really had managed to completely steal her heart in the mere hours they were together.
Reaching the princesses room she knocked lightly against the door, only for Princess Carla to swing the door open straight after and yank her inside.
‘AH… Princess Carla what are you doing?’ She asked concerned as the Princess pushed her down into a chair and positioned herself across from her.
‘Tell me everything…’ She said, a smirk crawling onto her face as she spoke. Lydia’s eyes widened in realisation.
‘W-What…’ Lydia replied, baffled by the sudden statement.
‘Well, when me and Prince Daichi went for a stroll I realised that he was perfect… but not for me… for you.’ She responded smiling brightly. Realisation hit Lydia like a truck, she locked herself away because she knew her Father would ask her to keep Daichi company.
‘But your highness he is meant to marry you! Plus you really think he’s going to let himself fall in love with a maid?’ Lydia’s heart sank as she spoke, knowing she was right. Even if she did love him, she could never have him.
‘Are you trying to convince me or yourself of that?’ She responded watching Lydia’s face drop. ‘So lets make him see that you can be a Princess too!’ The princess finished as she jumped up and ran to her wardrobe.
So through the night they both waded through the Princesses clothes and eventually found two outfits that were more than acceptable for the ball. Before they knew it the ball was merely hours away.
Sitting in the Princesses room they both looked themselves over in the mirror, Lydia had never felt this beautiful in her life. The dress perfectly complemented all her features, it felt like she was the prettiest girl in the world in that moment.
Turning to see Princess Carla who was in a stunning pink dress, her hair styled so it flowed over her shoulders like water running over a waterfall, perfectly framing her face. She looked stunning.
Walking down the hall Lydia separated from the Princess as she had to do her grand entrance, and while Lydia was welcome at the ball she still was only a maid. Entering the ball from the side entrance she got there just in time to see Princess Carla’s entrance.
Spotting Prince Ennoshita out the corner of her eye, his face instantly lit up when he saw the Princess. Praying that tonight was enough for the King to realise that they were perfect for each other.
Smiling at them both as they met in the middle and started to talk, she failed to notice the presence behind her.
‘M’Lady’ Prince Daichi spoke from behind her causing her to jump and blush profusely.
‘Please never call me that i’m not royalty, your majesty, Lydia is just fine’ She replied, giving him a small curtsy once she had turned to face him. He looked extremely handsome in his black buttoned jacket with gold accents.
‘Well Lydia, you look very beautiful tonight… Care to dance?’ He asked, holding out his hand, she didn’t think her cheeks could get any redder than they already were, but at that question she felt her cheeks heat once again.
‘I would love to…’ She replied by taking his hand as you walked into the middle of the room starting to dance together. Even though she had never really danced before she managed to slip into rhythm with the Prince really quickly.
The room seemed to disappear as they danced together, focused purely on each other as they swayed and dipped together. Meer minutes felt like hours as she stared into his big brown eyes, her heart pumping at speeds she didn’t think it could.
When the song finished they both stood staring at each other. It was clear to everyone in the room that there was something between them, something no one had seen before between a maid and a Prince. But with the fire in their eyes, they could tell that they were both willing to fight for whatever it was.
