I think... I think Jinx needs to bring Isha home. whatever remains of her. I think she needs to parallel Silco, in carrying her daughter, but the newfound self control Isha has given her, and the memories of the hell that was her resurrection and it's aftermath, will keep her from making her father's mistake. so she will carry her home and away from the chaos.

and I think Sevika needs to take her. like she had back in the prison. taking her and protecting her so Jinx can rage. and so she can drive and say goodbye, because that was her daughter too, in a way. she never said it allowed or made the conscious effort. but that was her girl.

she needs to parallel the last moment she had with Isha. she needs to show a softness and vulnerability that comes with a mother, older and wiser and more calloused by life, taking up the hard duty of accepting and tending the dead. her dead. her child.

she protects Jinx in this, by taking Isha away and out of sight. letting Jinx breathe. letting her crumble. without risking Isha's safety. Jinx will fight her and she will say "you trust me with her once, yeah? trust me again?", and Jinx will accept. she'll hand her over like she's handing over something made of the most fragile glass and tissue paper and cotton floss.

and then Sevika gets a moment alone. a moment to accept this. and then she, this character who has always been rough and tough and full of grit and spit, who has been strong and violent, by choice and by her circumstances, in almost every scene she has ever had, to be gentle and quiet and grieving.

burial is not a luxury that many Zaunites get, but Sevika will find a way to make do. she'll tend her girl, both of her girls, and they will give Isha rest and peace. but for a moment she just needs to stare down at the broken body beneath her and accept that this is real.

all those years of thinking one day she would lose Jinx, never getting attached, and yet it was the girl that gave her hope that she loses? she wasn't there to protect her? the own she truly accepted this time around, to ensure she didn't fail her like she failed Jinx, and she loses her the second she's out of her immediate grasp? she didn't get to say goodbye? she needs a second.

and then she'll be there for Jinx, and watch her crumble and break and lose herself.

and she'll have moments alone where she doesn't know what to do with the pain in her heart.

and they will think of their girl.

and that will be that.

it would bring their arc all the way around.

Jinx can and will go mad, but not when she could hurt her baby. Sevika will be gentle. they will be mother and daughter in their grief. because Isha changed them for the better.

wild to me to see posts like "wow everything in the tempest is named after shakespeare...emet you melodramatic bitch you sure loved theater". because the prospero-emet thing gets played up so hard in the english script and you can carry it so far!

like prospero is an asshole magician who, after being deposed by his brother as duke of milan, settles himself and his daughter on a remote island, enslaves the local spirits using his magic, and bitterly plots to reclaim his past glories. he rules through violence and deceit, and only survives and is reconciled when his plots reach their fruition and his brother is taken to his remote island and plots ensue and everyone decides he was totally right all along and they were huge dicks to him and they're sooooo sorry and he gets to go back and be duke again wow! and it's okay because he's like "i was only doing mean magic to get my rightful spot back and now i'm giving it up because magic is evil. :)"

the tempest is what emet wants his life to be. prospero is not a villain in the text of the tempest. he is barely treated as antagonistic by the text and framing of the play itself. all his abuses, his neglect and control of his daughter, his enslavement of caliban and ariel (local spirits/monsters/people of the island), his deception and plots against his brother, his abuse of magical powers (not awesome, from the pov of the contemporary audience), all that ultimately gets swept aside in the rightness of his return to milan and the warm feeling of the world being set to rights. prospero can't undo the years he spent on the island but they are ultimately a blip in his life before he returns to the rightful state of affairs. his abuse and enslavement of caliban, easily the worst thing he does in the play, is totally set aside when caliban goes "wow now i see how truly benevolent my master is. i love him and see the ways of christian good and i'm so, so appreciative he chose not to kill or beat me even though he totally could have and would have been in the right. he's so just and intelligent." everyone loves and forgives him and they all agree both his management of the island and his ultimate return are so good and so wise and so right.

emet comparing himself to the tempest (or being compared to it, depending on how you want to read the diegetic status of the place names) is absolute wishcasting. it is an attempt to manifest the happy ending he will never, ever get because his sins cannot and would not be forgiven in the way he wants. he wants to imagine himself as the righteous returned duke whose crimes, including the enslavement, abuse, and exploitation of those he saw as his rightful inferiors, were totally worth it, i promise. and if emet is prospero, the warrior of light is his caliban.

gareth david-lloyd is such a wonderful voice actor. i keep rethinking of his reading of the line "i will always go where you go." and it sounds so resigned and pained, like already solas knows he is going down a path that will lead to death and horror but his friend needs him, the people need him. they need his wisdom and guidance, and he knows taking on a physical form will not only be his undoing, but that of the world as he knows it. but still he goes, because duty comes above all.

im a sonic 06 defender but one of the things about that game that i absolutely cannot defend is its handling of blaze . literally one of the coolest sonic characters ever yet they had her do almost nothing of importance other than die at the end to make silver sad . she interacts with nobody other than silver and on the rare occasion she appears in a scene with someone else she just stands there and says nothing while the other character doesnt acknowledge her existence at all . the only thing she really adds other than dying is making everything way more confusing than it needs to be because her being from the future and seemingly not knowing sonic contradicts what we already knew about her. overall it just doesnt seem like they put much thought into her inclusion and i wouldnt be surprised to find out she was a last minute addition. blaze youdidnt deserve this bestie

it's explicitly shown that not!sasha did not enjoy the mortifying ordeal of being Known. helen probably hated the fact that she was constantly Seen, a distortion doesn't want to be understood. simon fairchild can say whatever he wants, but as a vast-aligned girl myself i just know he missed the sky. jude perry, who spent a good majority of her first appearence bragging about how superior the desolation was, was forced to serve what she saw as an inferior power. every Hunter lives in fear of becoming Prey. etc etc.

i think he wouldn't get to keep it to himself as long, because a big part of the misunderstanding in CU is that they really just assumed everything was,,,, fine. donnie wasn't a good liar but his habitual self-destructive behavior never crossed the line into A Big Fucking Deal until he locked himself in his lab for three days, the concerning ways he was acting before were typical, especially because they know well enough that a ton of work and a whole move when he struggles with change is already going to be difficult for him. they feel guilty for not understanding that this was always a bad thing

^^ and mind you in CU i think both all the work he had to do and the grief of feeling responsible for karai and shelldon's death is a GIGANTIC factor when it comes to him keeping it to himself. i think if he'd been cursed before any of it happened he would have eventually folded, but he still would have taken too long to and probably just gotten an earful about it because they would've assumed it was an "i have an image to maintain" thing and not something built from him deeply fearing he is undeserving of love when he's not materially useful lmao (which would be a really upsetting misunderstanding because donnie would go along with it. because he'd rather die than talk about the actual problem)

in canary continuity they watch over him a lot more and intentionally keep a close eye on him compared to each other, but i still think it would slip past them for a little too long. i dont think it would get to the point it did in CU, but they'd be worried when they watch donnie fall back on concerning coping mechanisms because it does mean SOMETHING is wrong, but that can mean anything

like in CU its more of an "i am going to keep this from them forever and i am more okay with it killing me than i realistically should be" but i think cc!donnie in that position would be preemptively, DESPERATELY making up for the fact that he KNOWS they're going to find out (and he's scared they're going to be upset). that's the kind of mindset that gets him doing shit like doing chores in secret, even if its strain on his stiff wrist or when he's coming down with something which is dangerous with his chest issues, etc.

cc!donnie would start out with not wanting to be a burden on them further and wanting to make up for it because he knows they're going to be worried about him, but as the pain progresses he'd fall back on that old instinctual mindset of "they are going to find out and they're going to HURT me", either for him not telling them in the first place or just because that abused dog part of his brain is screaming at him that taking up too much space and being "annoying" makes that an inevitability

i think it would break his brother's hearts. they know donnie is struggling, this really shouldn't be a surprise, of course something like this would happen, but every reminder of it still hurts like a physical blow. i think he'd still get to the point where he's in too much pain to move or function properly, and its especially hard for them to watch especially knowing what they've gone through.
