And it hurts to see you laugh at us over this. And especially when I could’ve died (and am probably lucky to be alive).
Unfortunately, I’ve chosen to try to enjoy life anyway.
And as somebody that fully intended to move away for school and never come back, who knows that this means for our relationship. (He did say “you win I’ll try” whereafter I explained it’s not a battle it’s a matter of health and gave him some details of what I went through during and after covid. But. He did agree to try. He did agree to try. (We’re ignoring how he completely conflates health with weight and doesn’t take me seriously for the issues I had with it because I’m fat)).

TAKEAWAYS:
We are in the biggest Covid surge in the US in at least two years
Time to wear a mask in crowded spaces (personally, I'd recommend one in all indoor public spaces and crowded outdoor spaces)
Immunity has waned and the new variant is 'distinctly more challenging to our immune system'
Updated boosters should be available the week of September 1st
The US needs to invest more in nasal vaccine programs, and should have already - this is the thing that could help actually get us out of the woods.
We are continuing to see more folks develop Long Covid even from mild infections
You should just read the article it's not that long but that's the run down
Me Editorializing: Let’s protect and care for ourselves and each other!

The Swiss Cheese Model of Covid Prevention
Tumblr media
An edited version of the swiss cheese model tailored towards the measures that you as an individual can take to minimize your risk of infection. Public health is ultimately what its name implies, public, but that doesn't mean you're powerless.
Covid prevention is not all-or-nothing. Think of it as risk reduction, rather than a binary.
Let's go through these step by step.
VACCINES
The current vaccines are meant primarily to reduce chances of severe illness, hospitalization, and death. They will reduce your chance of infection a bit--but not nearly as much as you might think. You should still get your boosters regularly, because avoiding severe illness is of course worth doing.
If you haven't gotten the updated monovalent vaccine yet, go get it. It is not a booster. Think of it as a new vaccine. It's targeted towards the XBB lineages, which are now the most common variants. Your last boosters were likely of the bivalent type, aimed at both the original Covid strain from 2020 and Omicron. The new vaccine is monovalent, meaning it targets one family in particular.
Some studies suggest that the Novavax vaccine, which is a more traditional protein-based vaccine, is more effective and safer than mRNA vaccines, and offers better protection against future variants. Of course, the data we have so far isn't 100% conclusive (the last paper I linked is a preprint). Make of these findings what you will, just something to keep in mind. The new Novavax vaccine's availability is still limited, especially outside of the US.
MASKS
Tumblr media
Masking is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself. While it is true that masking and reducing Covid transmission protects those around you, the idea that masks can't protect the wearer is outdated information from the early days of the pandemic when medical authorities refused to acknowledge that Covid is airborne.
The key to protecting yourself is to wear a well-fitting respirator. You want to minimize any gaps where air might leak out. If your glasses get fogged up, that's a sign that air is leaking.
Headbands will always have a tighter fit than earloop masks (and therefore provide better protection). However, you can use earloop extenders to improve the fit of earloop masks. You can find these online. Your comfort in wearing a mask is important, but there are options for compromise.
The above graphic doesn't include elastomeric respirators. While some (like the Flo Mask) are expensive, they can be much more affordable than buying disposables--look for P100 respirators at your local hardware store, but make sure it fits your face well.
For more general information, see this FAQ. For mask recommendations (NA-centric, sorry!), see my list here or Mask Nerd's YouTube channel.
For situations where you need to hydrate but don't want to take your mask off, consider the SIP valve.
Not even N95s are foolproof (N95 means it filters at least 95% of particles--with the other 5% potentially reaching you). Most people will likely not have a perfect fit. There will be situations where you'll have to take your mask off. The key is risk reduction, and that's why the Swiss cheese model is crucial.
If you can't afford high-quality masks, look for a local mask bloc or other organization that gives out free masks. Project N95 has unfortunately shut down. In Canada, there's donatemask.ca.
AVOID CROWDED INDOOR SPACES
This is rather self-explanatory. Indoor transmission is much, much, much more likely than outdoor transmission. If it's possible to move an activity outdoors instead, consider doing so.
If possible, try going to places like stores or the post office during less busy hours.
Viral particles can stay in the air for a considerable amount of time even after the person who expelled them has left. Do not take off your mask just because no one is currently present, if you know that it was previously crowded.
A CO2 monitor is a decent proxy for how many viral particles may have accumulated in the air around you. The gold standard is the Aranet4, but it's expensive, so here are some more affordable alternatives.
VENTILATION AND AIR FILTERS
Tumblr media
Ventilation is effective for the same reason that outdoors is safer than indoors. If it's warm enough, keep windows open whenever possible. If it's cold, even cracking them open occasionally is better than nothing. Try to open windows or doors on different sides of a room to maximize airflow.
HEPA air filters can significantly reduce viral transmission indoors. Make sure to find one suitable for the room size, and replace the filters regularly. You want to look for devices with HEPA-13 filters.
You can use websites like these to calculate how long it takes for a device to change all the air in a room. Remember what I said about viral particles being able to hang around even after people have left? If an air purifier provides 2 air changes per hour, that means that after 30 minutes, any potential viral particles should be gone.
If you can't afford a commercial air filter, here's a useful DIY filter you can make with relatively simple materials. The filtration capacity is great--but due to being built with duct tape, replacing filters will be a challenge.
If you have to hold meetings or meet with people at work, having a smaller filter on the desk between you will also reduce chances of infection.
As a bonus, HEPA filters will also filter out other things like dust and allergens!
REDUCE LENGTH OF EXPOSURE IF EXPOSURE IS UNAVOIDABLE
Viral load refers to the amount of virus in a person's blood. If you've been exposed to someone with Covid, how much you've been exposed matters.
You might escape infection if the viral load you've been exposed to is very small. Or, even if you get infected, there will be less virus in you overall, leading to milder illness--and crucially, a lower chance of the virus penetrating deep into your body, creating reservoirs in your organs and wreaking long-term havoc.
A low viral load is also less contagious.
This is the same reason that wearing your mask most of the time, but having to take it off for eating, is still much better than not wearing your mask at all.
RECHARGEABLE PORTABLE AIR FILTERS
Tumblr media
You might attract some odd looks. But if you're at high risk or just want to be as protected as possible, small portable air filters can help. Try to find models small enough to take with you on public transportation, to school, or while traveling.
These devices will be far too small to clean the air in the whole room. The goal is to have it filter air in your immediate vicinity. Be sure to angle the device so that the air is blowing in your face.
Unfortunately, rechargeable devices are much rarer and harder to find than normal air filters, and many are also expensive.
The best option at the moment, apart from DIY (which is possible, but you need to know what you're doing), seems to be the SmartAir QT3. The size and shape are a bit clunky, but it fits in a backpack. Its battery life isn't long, but it can be supplemented with a power bank.
NASAL SPRAYS
There's some research that suggests that some nasal sprays may be effective in reducing risk of infection by interfering with viruses' ability to bind to your cells.
These sprays are generally affordable, easy to find, and safe. The key ingredient is carrageenan, which is extracted from seaweed. So there are no potential risks or side effects.
Be sure to follow the instructions on the packaging carefully. Here's a video on how to properly use nasal sprays if you've never used them before.
Covixyl is another type of nasal spray that uses a different key ingredient, ethyl lauroyl arginate HCI. It also aims to disrupt viruses' ability to bind to cell walls. Unfortunately, I think it's difficult to obtain outside of the US.
CONCLUSION
None of the methods listed here are foolproof on their own. But by layering them, you can drastically reduce your chances of infection.
The most important layers, by far, are masking and air quality. But you should also stay conscientious when engaging with those layers. Don't let yourself become complacent with rules of thumb, and allow yourself to assess risk and make thought out decisions when situations arise where you might have to take off your mask or enter a high-risk indoor area, such as a hospital.
Remember that the goal is risk reduction. It's impossible to live risk-free, because we live among countless other people. But you can use knowledge and tools to keep yourself as safe as possible.

“I’ve been masking for the last several years to avoid COVlD infection and its long-term complications. Nonetheless, I caught COVlD in August 2023, and now have Long COVlD. Prior to my infection I wore KN95s; I now wear an N95 in all indoor spaces (including daily subway rides) and in crowded outdoor settings.”   Behind the hot pink KN95 is Michal (outofnapkins), children’s media writer, and recently a co-writer of the jews4maskrights petition.   “Last week, New York politicians floated the idea of a mask ban, which would endanger the most high-risk New Yorkers. Any kind of ban would be dangerous, and exemptions would be unenforceable: a ban would place an undue burden on vulnerable populations (and still healthy people taking reasonable precautions) to prove they deserve masks; it would exclude high-risk people like me from public life; it would keep visitors out of New York, including those who visit for critical medical care; it would further stigmatize masking, and enable stopping and bullying of people who mask. A ban would endanger everyone.   As a Jewish New Yorker at high risk for COVlD complications, I was especially horrified to see antisemitism cited as an incentive for a ban. We would be safer if everyone masked, not if masking were reserved for a select few. A mask ban would place everyone at greater risk, which goes against Jewish law and Jewish values. Contrary to the governor and mayor’s narrative, the Jewish community does not want a mask ban. So several COVlD-cautious Jewish friends and I have created an open letter.   If you’re Jewish, please sign it at  www.jewsformaskrights.com. We’re also @jews4maskrights on social media. Even if you’re not Jewish, please share it!  Share it with your network, with clergy, with organizations you’re active with.   You don’t have to be a regular mask-wearer, or live in New York, to sign! You just have to care about someone who is, and to care about the Jewish value of the sanctity of life. Please help us protect our right to protect ourselves.”

Mask Bans Insult Disabled People, Endanger Our Health, and Threaten Our Ability to Protest
As a high-risk disabled person who depends on others to keep me safe, I have written about the importance of masking, and I advocate for mask mandates in health care settings. But those individual efforts seem futile against the onslaught of proposed mask bans that would contribute to the spread of COVID and other illnesses, while also pushing high-risk people out of public spaces and protests, violating their right to assemble under the First Amendment.
[...]
Today, the mask is the unsightly marker of deviant individuals: the sick, the immunocompromised, the disabled, and the protester who wishes to keep their identity anonymous. (Many demonstrators at pro-Palestine marches have worn medical masks or other face coverings, both to protect their identity from authorities and to protect their health in large crowds.) We’re told such masked individuals threaten the moral order of society, and these bans are meant to keep the public “safe.”
[...]
Across the country, protests on college campuses have shaken leaders who are unsure how to handle such a groundswell of activism. Leaders in some states took the opportunity to go after student mask use, as in Ohio, where the Republican attorney general threatened on-campus protesters with an obscure anti-mask law. Now, with Democratic officials in California and New York also exploring mask bans, we're reminded that ableism is a bipartisan project. Any mask ban is a dangerous prospect, as many regions are currently dealing with an increase in COVID cases, and these patterns are expected to continue multiple times a year. (Days after Los Angeles’s Democratic mayor Karen Bass said the city would look into a potential mask ban at protests, she contracted COVID.) A mask ban on the subway would endanger a public good that many people depend on — and have a right to — and the ability of high-risk people to participate in society, to be seen, and matter to the broader community. Mask bans are a labor issue, as well. A resident of New York City, who asked to remain anonymous to protect their privacy, says, “I wear a mask and encourage others to do so because, prior to COVID, masks were a common form of PPE for indoor and outdoor airborne hazards at work.… The criminalization of masks is a criminalization of workers protecting ourselves…." The resident continues, "Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams supporting attempts to ban masks are the latest examples of New York State Democrats trying to destroy the lives of poor and working-class New Yorkers.”
[...]
What is clear to me is that disabled people have never felt safe. Many of us view masking as a form of solidarity with workers, activists, and people of color all over the world fighting fascism and genocide. But mask bans send the message that it is a crime to be disabled. I think of people who have fought hard to stay relatively safe since early 2020, those who hang on a precipice that feels like it could fall at any moment. Some days I wonder what my breaking point will be.

Room to Breathe, Space to Move
The allure of outdoor spaces really stands out when you’re checking out one bedroom apartments in Austin TX, especially at a place like Shelby Ranch. Even with a cozy one-bedroom floorplan, you’re not limited on space. Step outside and you’ve got a 1.4-acre courtyard and a half-acre backyard that give the whole place an open, relaxed vibe. Whether you’re swinging in the hammock grove, flowing through a yoga session on the outdoor lawn, or throwing a few punches at the boxing bag, there’s something here that fits your pace. The outdoor kitchen makes it easy to hang out and cook with friends without being stuck indoors. It’s that kind of lifestyle where your apartment goes beyond your four walls and blends into the outdoors.
Public Transportation and Accessibility in Austin, Texas
Getting around Austin isn’t too bad, but it really depends on where you’re headed. If you live close to downtown, you’ve got more options—buses, bike paths, and even scooters all over the place. CapMetro runs the public buses and the MetroRail, which can be helpful, especially during rush hour. But if you’re out in the suburbs or farther from the city center, you’ll probably need a car to get around. Traffic can be frustrating, especially on I-35, so you might find yourself planning your day around it. There’s talk about improving public transit, though, with new light rail projects in the works. So if you’re thinking long-term, Austin’s trying to catch up with its fast growth and make it easier for folks to move around without a car.
Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas
Whether you’re a big football fan or not, going to a game at Darrell K Royal Stadium is something you should do at least once. It’s loud, crowded, and full of energy—kind of like a big orange wave of Longhorn pride. You’ll see people dressed head to toe in burnt orange, tailgating hours before kickoff. The place holds over 100,000 fans, so it definitely gets wild on game day. Even if you’re just there for the atmosphere, it’s still a fun time. Grab some stadium snacks, find your seat, and just soak it all in. If you’re into sports, you’ll love it. And if you’re not, it’s still a solid way to feel the local vibe and see how seriously Austin takes its college football.
Austin’s Best New Buildings Honored At 2025 Commercial Real Estate Awards
It’s always cool to see a city growing in ways that feel creative and thoughtful, and Austin’s new buildings getting recognition kind of show that. When you’re walking around downtown or driving through different neighborhoods, you really start to notice how much the skyline and vibe have changed. Some places just go up fast without much personality, but Austin seems to put a little more care into how things look and function. It’s not just about size—it’s about design, how it fits with the city, and whether people actually want to spend time there. These awards are a good reminder that buildings aren’t just boxes; they shape how the city feels. If you live here, it’s nice to know people are paying attention to that.

Epilogue
Here are some observations I made throughout our trip. These are just my impressions and experiences and not based on actual facts. Also included below are a couple of recommendations.
Language: Croatian speak Croatian to each other, but almost everyone speaks English. Most museums had English descriptions in addition to Croatian.
Tourism: Crowds were never an issue for us anywhere we travelled in Croatia. But most of our travel was in May. I imagine that travel during July and August could be much different, and much more crowded— especially in Dubrovnik.  Dubrovnik infrastructure doesn’t seem like it would handle summer crowds very well and could result in long lines and lots of people everywhere.
Crime: We never felt unsafe anywhere in Croatia, day or night. A tour guide told us Croatia was named the safest country at night in the world. He didn’t quote the source. Croatians appeared to value honesty and strong ethical principles.
Poverty: We saw no homeless people or beggars on the street.
Public Restrooms: Public bathrooms were cleaner than what you would find in the US. Some require one EURO. We saw very little litter on the streets.
Paying for things: Croatia uses the EURO. All hotels we stayed at took Visa, as did most restaurants. However, some restaurants, especially smaller ones, and restaurants on Korcula Island only took cash. And a couple of gelato stands only took credit cards. Best to be prepared to pay with either. When charging on Visa most of the time you have a choice to pay in dollars or EUROs and we always selected EUROs as our credit card gives us a better exchange rate.
Tipping: We tipped at 10% at restaurants. Some restaurants allowed you to add it to your Visa charge, and others didn’t and in that case we left the tip in cash.
Smoking: There are a huge number of smokers in Croatia! Be prepared to eat meals among smokers. Although it appears Croatians don’t smoke indoors, since most restaurants are outdoors, there is a high probability there will be someone smoking in a table nearby you.
Pedestrian Friendly: In Dubrovnik, we saw an interesting behavior that we didn’t see elsewhere in Croatia.  In Dubrovnik, no one jay walks and 99% of the pedestrians use the crosswalks provided, even when they are inconvenient. But the minute a pedestrian steps into the crosswalk, the cars respect that and stop immediately. So pedestrians having the right of way is not just a saying, but is carried out in practice.
Traveling within a city: We walked a lot. In Dubrovnik and Zagreb we took buses when we didn’t want to walk; Uber works great in Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, but not available in some of the smaller islands. Uber is cheaper than taxis. Some drivers are both an Uber driver and a taxi driver. If you take a taxi, know the price before the ride. Finding a parking space if you have a rental car, which we didn’t, appeared to be difficult.
Traveling between cities: We took ferries to, from and between islands. We found TP Line Catamaran Ferry (TL) was a better ferry service than Kapetan Luka Ferry (KL). On land we hired a driver and car to take us between cities. We used Octopus Transfer, a private car and driver service, to travel between cities and were very satisfied with their service. All our drivers spoke English and using a transfer service provided us time in the car to have in-depth discussion with our drivers about life in Croatia and answer any questions we had. People, including our drivers, drive fast on the expressways in Croatia (up to  94 mph), but there is not much traffic. I am glad we did not have a rental car.
Hiking: Some of the trails we hiked were very rocky. We used our hiking boots and if I was to do it again I would bring one hiking pole. However, that wasn’t the case in Plitvice Lakes National Park, where the main trails were well-maintained and can easily be hiked in sneakers.
Weather: If you are traveling along the coast or on the islands be prepared for it to get windy in the late afternoons.
Laundry: We found laundromats in Korcula and Split.  In Korcula, you have to have them wash, dry and fold it for you, and it was expensive. In Split, you have the option for them to do it, or you to do it yourself, and it was not as expensive.
Tall people: Croatia is a land of tall people—many Croatians are noticeably above average in height, so you need to get used to being short in this country.

I walked my pride parade today with a Disability Pride Sign BECAUSE! I! CAN!
do you know how many people in my personal life would have been unable to attend even if they lived close by?
MOST OF THEM!
because the heat & noise & people are all triggers for a physical or mental illness!
I was very lucky I could walk instead of ride too! Because I haven't been able to walk a mile in SEVERAL YEARS!
Assuming something Is or Is Not a stereotype does shit all for ACTUAL Autistic People who are unable to access public spaces! I know MANY Autistic/Developmentally Delayed/Homebound People would would LOVE to get out of the house & be in public!
AND YET? they can't! The Heatwave makes it nigh impossible for those of us on Psychostimulants to do outdoor activities! Indoor Ones often dont enforce masking or COVID safe protocol! Or they are at a Cute Little Cafe (no hate to them) BUT BIG HATE to organizers who forget about Cane/Walker/Wheelchair users! I am TWENTY SEVEN & I will need a cane for the rest of my life! I may be ambulatory but I STILL NEED RAMPS! and safe stairs!
Many Autistic People ALSO need Cane Supports or Brace Supports for other illnesses! Many Autistic people are UNABLE to handle spaces that are too loud or crowded! Many People Of Varying Needs have shouted for YEARS about how we are still Immunocompromised & STILL NEED COVID PROTECTIONS!!!
and yet? We're invisible so every damn activism space becomes a hell of "can I cope long enough to contribute?"
Adult Autistic People have been here & Advocating for DECADES!
START ACTUALLY READING THEIR SHIT!
Like so many times when people are like "I've never met an autistic person who has [insert "stereotypical" trait] it's like. That's because they're not there! They're not in the spaces you can access because they can't access them! And denying their existence will make that worse!

Sail through the stunning Port Phillip Bay or cruise along the Yarra River, enjoying the Melbourne skyline, beachside neighborhoods, and golden sunsets.
Luxury and Comfort
Modern yachts are designed with elegance and entertainment in mind—think plush seating, surround sound, open decks, indoor lounges, and sometimes even jacuzzis or bars onboard.
Customizable Experience
From chilled-out cruises with acoustic music and gourmet grazing boards to high-energy parties with DJs and cocktail bars, your yacht party can be whatever you want it to be.
No Crowds, No Stress
Unlike public venues, you won’t have to deal with strangers, noise restrictions, or closing times. It’s a private floating space that’s all yours.

I think one of the things I come back to the most re: folks who find masking difficult (understandable! it is not easy!) is how often folks who feel that way (and assuming accessibility) have not done the things that can make it suck a lot less? Like, 1. Does the mask fit? A mask that fits will be significantly more comfortable in most cases. A mask that fits will touch the skin at all of its edges and air shouldn't be able to be felt escaping from the sides. 2. Does the mask accommodate sensory needs where possible? I really dislike when a mask touches my nostrils or my mouth too much. I also don't like rubbery straps that pull my hair, and I also like masks that are easy to pull down or take off. I wear masks that accommodate these things: masks with space inside of them that have fabric straps and that either use a single long strap fed through a loop on the side that can be adjusted (like the unvalved Dräger 1950 which is my default mask) or earloops. There are so many different types of masks! 3. Do I keep masks where I can put one on when I need to? How am I going to be able to mask if I can't easily get to one? I mask in public (in all indoor spaces and outdoors in crowds) so I don't always carry a mask other than the one on my face (if I have a bag with me I do carry extras) but it's highly advisable to have a mask on one's person (either in a purse or pocket or <3 on one's face <3). How can you put one on if you don't have it? If the masks are in the back of a closet at home that is not going to be helpful. Are they somewhere they can be easily grabbed when leaving? Such as near where the housekeys might be? 4. Do you know you can re-wear masks? If they don't get wet you can get like 40 hours of use out of them! I would probably swap if in a particularly high risk situation. etc etc If they only exist in our life as this occasional disruptive thing, of course they are going to feel more disruptive and be harder to incorporate.

Luxury Hotels in Puri Near Sea Beach: Where Comfort Meets the Coast
Puri attracts different kinds of travellers. Families visiting the Jagannath Temple. Groups planning weddings. Delegates attending government programs. Tourists combining Konark and Chilika in a single circuit. For most of them, staying close to the sea is preferred. But proximity alone doesn’t define comfort.
Swosti Premium Beach Resorts, Puri, located along Baliapanda Road, positions itself in this segment. It is not in the middle of the crowds. But it’s not far either. The location allows guests to access the beach directly while avoiding temple-side congestion during peak season.
Guests staying at this property are mostly looking for clarity. They don’t want to navigate between separate facilities for food, functions, or transport. This hotel keeps those basics sorted. In the below article we discuss in detail why Swosti Premium is the best and Luxry Hotel in Puri so read an complete article.
Location and Layout That Serves Purpose
The hotel is a short drive from Puri Railway Station and manageable distance from the Jagannath Temple. That helps guests structure their day without overplanning.
The beachfront access is uninterrupted. From a guest room to the sea, the walk is short and direct. For people travelling with children or elders, this convenience avoids the need to coordinate external transport or cross busy streets.
The building structure separates event zones from guest check-ins. This matters when there are back-to-back functions or when a wedding is being hosted parallel to regular stays. Crowd movement doesn’t affect the dining space or pool area.
Room Categories With Functional Differences
Tumblr media
Swosti Premium Beach Resorts has five types of rooms & suits:
Deluxe Rooms
Deluxe Rooms with Pool View
Executive Rooms
Premium Rooms
Premium Suites
All room types include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, smart TVs, tea/coffee makers, minibars, and toiletries. Rooms are arranged in blocks that allow privacy without isolation. This helps when bookings are made for groups — guests can stay together without hallway noise becoming a concern.
Premium Suites are often selected for bridal bookings or senior officials attending closed events. Executive Rooms are preferred by families staying longer than two days. The layout is uniform but flexible. Housekeeping is aligned to block assignments, not centralised rotations, which allows more consistent upkeep.
Food Services Built Around Guest Profiles
Tumblr media
The hotel’s dining options are built into the property. The multi-cuisine restaurant in Puriserves Indian, Chinese, continental, and Odia dishes. For weddings or group events, the kitchen handles bulk catering without using the regular dining space.
A bar is also part of the property, situated away from the family dining zone. During events, liquor service is separated and follows pre-approved licenses.
Vegetarian food preferences are common among guests visiting for religious reasons. During specific rituals or family gatherings, the kitchen can coordinate no-onion, no-garlic menus. Staff are trained to manage plating and service in such cases without disrupting regular buffet service.
Event Planning for Social and Official Occasions
Tumblr media
Swosti Premium Beach Resorts includes banquet halls, lawn space, and meeting areas. These are used for:
Weddings and receptions
Engagements and thread ceremonies
Corporate offsites and review meetings
Government-led training programs
Small-scale conventions or milestone events
Weddings hosted here usually spread across indoor and outdoor spaces. The team allocates separate entry/exit points for event attendees. This helps avoid movement through guest room corridors or public lobbies.
Common Cultural Considerations
In Odia weddings, rituals like kanyadaan, homa, and bahaghara require clean spaces, morning-to-noon coordination, and sometimes early check-ins for priest groups. The hotel team is familiar with this. Rooms required for the groom’s side and bride’s side are placed accordingly. Mandap setups are coordinated in indoor halls unless the guest requests a sea-facing layout on the lawn.
For milestone functions like upanayana or shraddha, dining needs vary. The kitchen supports leaf plating or steel thali service as per family requirement. The hotel doesn’t enforce external caterers but allows traditional food arrangements within the hygiene parameters.
For corporate events, there is little cultural requirement, but punctuality and privacy matter. Swosti’s staff coordinate refreshment breaks, lunch services, and feedback forms through designated POCs.
Facilities That Support Longer Stays
The property includes:
Swimming pool
Indoor games
Fitness centre
Children’s play area
Travel desk
Parking zone
Generator backup
Laundry service
For guests staying more than three nights, the presence of activity spaces becomes relevant. Children need non-digital engagement. Elder guests prefer seating areas in semi-open spaces. The hotel has these zones laid out clearly.
The travel desk helps guests plan day visits to Konark or Chilika. Vehicle coordination is done in-house. No third-party agents are involved unless specifically asked. This helps when managing government groups or multi-family bookings.
Parking, Safety, and Access
The parking area can accommodate both private cars and travel vans. Buses are not encouraged during high traffic periods, but arrangements can be made with prior intimation.
The resort maintains basic security at entry gates, with visitor tracking and CCTV across corridors. While the beach remains public, the hotel does not allow external visitors to access its private areas without guest verification.
For weddings or VIP guests, dedicated access points are marked and manned. Event logistics are briefed to the guards and staff in advance to avoid confusion during peak hours.
Who Books Swosti Premium Hotel And Why?
Guests who book Swosti Premium Beach Resorts are generally:
Families combining temple visits and leisure
Couples looking for a quiet, sea-facing stay
Groups attending or hosting weddings
Business teams from Bhubaneswar or Cuttack
Departments planning internal workshops
The brand carries its reputation from other locations. Many bookings are made by word of mouth or repeat usage. For guests, the experience is less about surprise and more about predictability.
Closing Observation
Staying near the sea in Puri is not hard. But finding a property that operates with structure, understands cultural requirements, and stays consistent across seasons — this is where Swosti Premium Beach Resorts continues to stand apart.
The rooms are built for use, not display. The food is handled by a team that works with both local and global expectations. Events run without last-minute improvisation. For guests looking at comfort that matches the coast, this hotel continues to deliver — quietly, and with purpose.

This is a bit of a tangent and I'm not trying to assert moral purity or whatever* with this, but a thing I do think is interesting and deserving of some contemplation by folks more broadly is that I am pretty sure that many people who have strong/strict feelings about cigarette use do not mask in shared public indoor spaces (or more crowded outdoor ones) to avoid the transmission of covid (which is a thing I think people should do). Aerosols (through which covid is transmitted) moves and stays in rooms like secondhand smoke. Covid regularly causes serious long-term illness (1 in 10 infections leads to long covid, nevermind all other weird stuff it can trigger) and elevates the risk of all sorts of other stuff. Research indicates the risk of heart attacks and strokes may elevate significantly for up to 3 years after a covid infection and covid's oncogenic potential is also being researched. Lots and lots of transmission is from asymptomatic people. Something worth considering! *Like I'm not trying to be like "Oh to have a stance about [x] you have to account for [a], [b], [c] (etc etc) or it has no validity." That's not how I mean this.
fucking amazing trying to be pro-drug on this site while half the userbase believes the only people who should be allowed to smoke tobacco are single childless homeowners in detached properties who exhale directly into the vacuum cleaner and then kill themselves to avoid burdening the health system
