Winter Sun Destinations: No more winter blues!
Tumblr media
Are you up for a getaway to one of the top-notch winter sun destinations? Keep on reading to find out the best places for some winter sunshine worldwide!
Just imagine! Lazing around the sun-drenched beach with a laid-back atmosphere of a far-flung location under the warm winter sun, doesn’t all this sound amazing?
What are the best winter sun destinations?
If you’re looking to warm up the cold winter months and swap the snow for white sandy beaches, these are the best places to travel to top up on a dose of vitamin D and offer more than consistent rays and clement days with a chance to see and do plenty — or completely nothing at all.
So, take a look at the best winter sun destinations, and let’s see if I can inspire you for some epic travels.
Short winter sun beach holidays
Are you desperate for some sun but don’t have time for a long beach holiday? The good news is that you don’t have to go all the way to a far-flung destination to soak up the rays on holiday.
So, where is the best place to go in winter for the sun?
Here are some places closer to home and allow you to exchange the gloomy winter for a few sunny days.
Balearic Islands, Spain
The Balearic Islands in December is simply spectacular, especially without all the tourists of the summer season.
I highly recommend this place to get some Menorca winter sun action, as there are plenty of beaches you can go to on the island, and it’s well known as one of the best winter sun destinations with balmy weather in Europe.
Canary Islands, Spain
If there is one place I would spend my Christmas holiday abroad, it would be the Canary Islands! This place is a perennial favourite among the winter sun holiday destinations, and it has some of the most popular beaches in Spain.
If you’re wondering about where you could find the warmest winter sun in Europe, this is the place to be.
No matter what time you visit the Canary Islands, you’re bound to love everything about this place.
Malta
This is one of the best winter sun destinations with plenty of options for beautiful sandy beaches, cocktail bars, all-inclusive resorts and sun-kissed memories. It’s one of the top spots for a short sunny break during December. As a matter of fact, if you don’t want to be spending time on the beach as much, Malta has a treasure trove of places to go and things to do on land.
Morocco
This place regularly appears on the list of many winter sun destinations – thanks to the year-round sunshine.
If you need a dose of vitamin-SEA, the coasts here are to die for! Besides that, there are plenty of chilled-out towns where you can explore, shop, and taste impressive food.
That’s not all, here you can explore the Atlas Mountains as they are pretty amazing!
So that’s the short winter sun destinations covered. How about looking at the best places for winter sun a bit further away from Europe? Keep reading to find out the best long sunny winter destinations.
Long winter beach holidays
These holidays are for those who are lucky enough to travel beyond Europe. So, where is best for winter sun in December?
Let’s take a look at some places that are further away from home that will allow you to have longer, warmer, and sunnier places where you could enjoy the best winter sun.
India
First up, India, especially Goa or Mumbai, for some best winter sunshine, and you’ll be treated to hot, hot, hot getaway!
Despite India being so big, you can cover a lot of places such as Mumbai for some cultural goodness and enjoy some unique experiences at the stunning beaches in Goa on your holiday.
While you’re here, don’t miss out on the delicious food they have on offer.
South Korea
This is an unusual place – South Korea, mainly Jeju Island.
It’s a perfect place to enjoy the warm sunny days at the end of the year and a great place to visit during winter, with astounding beaches, museums, and many great eateries.
Sri Lanka
When the short, dark days of winter have taken their toll, there’s no better place than a Sri Lankan winter sun holiday.
If you’re looking for a cheap place for the winter sun, then this fantastic place is one of the best winter sun destinations. Although you can’t go wrong any time of year.
Though it’s a tiny island, Sri Lanka offers some beautiful beaches, perfect to lounge on the beach or spend the days diving and snorkelling, as the reefs are teeming with marine life.
Thailand
No one can go without talking about winter sun destinations and not mention classic Thailand. This is the best place to enjoy the best sunny beaches, cultural treasures and not forget the scrumptious food.
Florida, USA
Florida is a hot destination with plenty of fun things to do. The sun here comes out every day, and it’s absolutely fantastic during winter.
Whether you fancy a fabulous beach holiday (as you could find some of the best beaches in the region), spending time in one of many theme parks (I mean it when I say many!) or going on a road trip-Florida is a great option as one of the best winter sun destinations.
The Maldives
With plenty of sunshine constantly on offer, practically all year round, the Maldives is an excellent option as a tan-topping winter sun destination.
This immaculate archipelago in the Indian Ocean, lined with white sand, palm trees, and stunning luxury resorts, is a complete paradise.
That’s not all; the waters here are crystal clear and teeming with sea life — therefore ideal for snorkelling and more such as scuba diving and canoeing.
Cancun
Cancun is a brilliant winter sun holiday destination. Mainly due to its
Golden beaches, sunshine, warm temperatures, resorts, vibrant nightlife, and numerous attractions. Those are just some of the reasons why Cancun has long been a solid favourite among Brits, and you can’t go wrong with this place!
The Caribbean Island
And then finally, for our long winter sun destinations – my personal favourite, the Caribbean Island. Beach, eat, drink, dance, repeat, that’s what it’s like on the Caribbean Island, and I’m sure you’ll have a brilliant time here. On the island, you’ll find pristine beaches, cuisine, and lively bars; this place offers so much more. With sunshine and warm seas, you’ll be having so much fun, you’ll forget all about the winter.
Inspired for a holiday in one of the best winter sun destinations but not booked your trip yet? Then all you’ve got to do is take your pick from above. And if you’re still not sure of where you want to go, get in touch here, and one of our Travel Experts will be in contact to help you arrange your perfect winter sun holiday.

On your marks...it's a race to the Magic Kingdom
New Post has been published on http://usnewsaggregator.com/on-your-marks-its-a-race-to-the-magic-kingdom/
On your marks...it's a race to the Magic Kingdom
I’m proud to say that I’ve completed the London Marathon a few times, but I’ve never done anything quite like the Disneyland Paris half-marathon.
The race begins at 7am. I joined thousands of others on the start line and before long we were heading through a backstage area before venturing past all the amazing rides.
Then came the best bit: we ran through Magic Kingdom as the sun was slowly rising and we were greeted by Mickey Mouse and Minnie.
Meet and greet: Jenni with Mickey Mouse during her trip to Disneyland
TRAVEL FACTS
The Disneyland Paris Magic Run Weekend will return on September 20-23, 2018.
One of the quirks of doing this race is you can pose with various Disney characters along the route.
I was adamant that I wasn’t going to stop and I hurtled past Jack Sparrow and Goofy.
But then I ran through Magic Castle and just couldn’t resist a snap with Snow White and then with Rapunzel.
The race also takes you out of the park and into the French countryside, and we were cheered on by locals in a number of pretty villages.
Unfortunately, one person who wasn’t cheering me on was my husband James, who had managed to sleep through his alarm call.
So once I had finished the race (in a not unrespectable time of one hour and 44 minutes), I wandered back to our Disneyland hotel for a Character Breakfast.
Classic characters: Many of Disney’s best-loved personalities were present
Here you can get photos with Pluto and the gang, so my young daughter Ella was in heaven.
After eating, I even had enough stamina to head straight back to the park and experience some of the rides until we had to leave for our return to St Pancras on Eurostar that afternoon.
Disney organises similar running events at its parks in the US. That sounds like a good excuse to pack my trainers and head off to Florida…
SEARCH FOR A BARGAIN FROM MUMBAI TO THE MED
Is it any wonder that cruise holidays are booming?
While hotels appear to be getting more and more expensive, there are still some incredible bargains to be found for holidays at sea.
However, it can be difficult to compare like with like, so I have ploughed through the major cruise company schedules and studied their current special offers and deals to unearth some of the best options at the moment…
Historic: The famous Gateway of India in the bustling city of Mumbai
SAIL THE CARIBBEAN
Norwegian Cruise Line (ncl.co.uk) recently introduced ‘premium all-inclusive’ class to its ships, meaning all drinks, coffee, water and tips are included in the price. That makes this seven-day Western Caribbean voyage on board Norwegian Getaway from Miami a bargain. The holiday, which starts on November 26, calls at Roatan Bay (Honduras), Harvest Caye (Belize) and Cozumel (Mexico). It costs from £599pp based on two sharing an inside cabin, but excludes flights.
GO OUT OF SEASON
Pick an unfashionable destination and travel out of season and you can find cruises that are almost as cheap as staying at home. A seven-night City Lights And Overnights cruise on Fred Olsen’s Black Watch (fredolsencruises.com), departing Southampton on December 14, starts at just £499pp for an oceanview cabin. You’ll visit Hamburg, Amsterdam and Antwerp, entertainment is included, and guests can also upgrade to an ‘all-inclusive’ drinks package from just £15 a night.
CHECK THE SMALL PRINT
It’s not just about the prices for the cheapest cabins – sometimes bargains are hidden in the overall cruise details. A seven-night round-trip from Southampton on Sapphire Princess (princess.com) leaves on May 5, 2018. You’ll see St Peter Port in Guernsey, Bordeaux in France, and Bilbao and La Coruna in Spain. Best of all, Princess is offering a ‘free onboard spend’ offer, which means that two passengers sharing a cabin will receive £50 each to spend on extras such as alcohol, excursions or dining upgrades.
TAKE A FLY-CRUISE
There are some unusual deals to be found, such as P&O’s Fly-cruises – you fly to a destination and sail from there. A 13-night voyage from March 10 next year heads from Barbados to Southampton via St Lucia, St Kitts, St Maarten and Ponta Delgada in the Azores. Prices start at £1,079pp, including the one-way flight to Barbados. Visit pocruises.com.
ENJOY A TASTE OF ASIA
Sleep in an inside cabin to take advantage of an appealingly low-priced 15-night holiday to the exotic shores of India and Sri Lanka from just £949pp. Celebrity Constellation (celebritycruises.co.uk) sails from Abu Dhabi on March 23, 2018 and takes in Mumbai, Goa and Colombo before finishing at Singapore.
All transfers, food and entertainment are included but flights are extra, so don’t forget to factor in the cost of return flights from Heathrow. They are likely to set you back around £960.
A WEEK IN THE MED
Pick an early-season sailing and it is possible to explore four Mediterranean countries on a seven-day cruise for just £269pp, excluding flights. MSC Opera departs the Italian port of Genoa on April 14, 2018, and visits Malta, Marseilles, Menorca and Sicily. Visit msccruises.co.uk.
A DOSE OF WINTER SUN
Thomson is rebranding and its cruise arm, now called Marella, has some tempting deals. Leave on November 13 and you can get return flights from Gatwick and a four-night full-board cruise from £523pp. Marella Dream sails from Malaga and visits Cadiz, Lanzarote and Tenerife. Visit tui.co.uk/cruise/
