#I can’t describe to you guys what my job is like. I know I post ridiculous funny stuff but it’s very rarely funny in the moment#I’m a substitute teacher‚ which means that even though I’m in the building EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR#and even though I’ve known most of these kids since LAST DECEMBER (2021)#they just. don’t fucking listen to a word I say#it took 14 minutes and a dean of students in the room with me today to get one of my classes to stop talking over/ignoring me#and I’m not even yelling at them‚ I’m literally trying to 1.) say ‘good afternoon folks!’ and 2.) tell them what the assignment is#all day long I’m ignored and disrespected by the same kids and there are no consequences because this is a charter school#and day after day I’m also disrespected by staff because I’m ‘just a sub’ and you#everyone keeps calling out of work#we finally filled the last VACANCY we had TWO WEEKS AGO. we’ve been down 3 full time teachers since the beginning of the year#and as of two weeks ago we finally filled the last vacancy. so I could go back to JUST substituting.#but today the 7th grade ELA teacher just gave us his one-week notice which means that now that I am the ONLY BUILDING SUB#(we started the year with 3‚ now it’s just me)#I have this terrible suspicion that I’m gonna get stuck with 7th grade ELA for the rest of the year. while trying to do grad school.#I just… I’m exhausted all the time#and I act like I’m not but I am#this job is so demeaning and exhausting and I love my students (specifically my 8th graders and high schoolers)#but I’m not gonna see them for the rest of the year. I’m gonna be stuck in 7th grade ELA I just know it#when I say that the middle school is like an active war zone I’m not joking#I had to stop a kid from choking out his classmate today#I leave work every day with headaches because it’s always so fucking loud‚ even in the middle of lessons#I want my old job back‚ this year has been exhausting and I don’t know how I’ve ended up taking on so much more than I’m supposed to#I covered 6 out of 7 periods again this week. the most that any full time teacher has to teach is 4 out of 7#and the subbing coordinator keeps giving me the heaviest coverage loads and then telling me he’s ‘disappointed’ by how tired I am#he also gave every single person on the subbing team specific shoutouts in his daily emails… except me#tldr I’m feeling disrespected by students and overworked by my coordinator and undersupported by admin and taken for granted by coworkers

Matt with a GIRLY ASS GF, I’m talking feminine energy coquette, bows, pink, I want it ALL😫😫 I can’t the thought of Matt having masculine energy being protective over his gf, I know it’s not a request request more like an idea, you can go about however you’d like, but plssss
Dally
Tumblr media
Pairing: Matt Sturniolo X Female Reader
Synopsis: A short little imagine about Matt with a girly girl for a girlfriend🎀💞
Warning⚠️: None, honestly I’m not 100% what tf coquette is LOLL, or like being a girly girl, so I tried my best. It’s also super short because it was more of like a blur idea I had, but I hope you enjoy🥹
Song for the imagine: Primadonna- MARINA
Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world
I can’t help that I need it all
Pink, bows, teddy bears, sparkles, more pink, more bows. I mean that was my whole lifestyle. I loved everything girly ever since I was a little girl.
Most of the time boys ran away when they would see my room. Scared at how girly and dainty it was. However when I showed Matt my room his eyes lit up.
To see this tattooed, rugid, dark person in my bright pink filled room made my heart flutter. I mean totally not his aesthetic, but somehow we worked together?
My room was full of pink and white, teddy bears, there were bows on everything, sparkles, dainty white curtains, light pink carpets. I mean it was like Paris Hilton threw up everywhere. To see Matt look at everything with a smile on his face. To watch him sit on my bed, his black outfit clashing against my bright room.
Matt was so adorable. I mean he’d let me do whatever I wanted with him, but would also turn around and snap someone’s neck for me. He was so overprotective of me, often giving men looks and comments if they ever tried to say anything to me.
But then that same night we’d be laying in my bed as I mindlessly tied bows in his hair to make us laugh. Laughing at how silly he looked as I laid a kiss on his lips while we giggled. And snapping pictures for instagram.
Matt loved buying me gifts, and making sure I sat at home looking pretty for him. I’d wake up to a new package almost everyday. Pink boots, a white shirt with bows, more bows for my hair, a new teddy bear for my collection, cardigans, makeup….I mean everything I ever wanted Matt got for me.
I sat at home primping myself for him as he was out there working to bring home money. I always felt bad, but it was something Matt insisted I do. He wanted me to sit still and look pretty for him.
He used to take me shopping, but the last time we went to the mall he almost got into a fight with some guy hitting on me. Honestly I was ignoring the guy, so I didn’t even know he was saying things to me.
Up until Matt moved me out the way and got in the guys face. I mean security had to step in. That was the last time we went out. Matt said “I can’t have my precious baby getting disrespected by random creeps”. I mean agree, but also I missed shopping
Because of this Matt gave me his card information, so anything I wanted I could just buy. I bought one thing, and I just didn’t like to buy stuff without asking.
However recently I’ve been very into coquette style, and Matt has no idea what that means, so he just tells me to swipe his cards and do as I please. I haven’t because I like to ask permission first.
I’ve been eyeing these shoes for a few weeks now, and they’re $250. Something Matt would say is nothing, but to me that’s so expensive. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them though. I had a tab open on them and stared at them for hours on end.
Finally one day I decided to text Matt
Matt🧸
-Hi babyyyyy :)
-Hi my precious baby!
-I have a question….
-what’s up?
-sooo there’s these coquette shoes I want, and I’ve been eyeing them for sooo long
-what is it with this coquette shit??
-IDKKK, but I love them. They’re the perfect coquette aesthetic
-Coquette this….coquette that…how about you coquette a job😀
-Matt…. That’s not funny😐
-I’m kidding, baby! Charge the Amex. How many times do I have to tell you? Get whatever you want!!
-Nooo I hate doing that. I like to ask permission before buying anything with your money😔
-baby I earn this money for you! I love seeing you in your outfits with your shoes. I love seeing you happy. So please get whatever you want!❤️
-okay baby. Thank you 🥹
-Of course my love💞🎀
Matt was the best thing to ever happen to me. I was able to be me because he loved me for me. And I’m sure he loved me for my pink lingerie sets I always had on deck for him….
The End
Y’all…..IDFK WHAT THIS IS OK😭😭 idk anything about a girly girl aesthetic or coquette, so I did what I could😔. However I hope you enjoyed🥹🖤🖤

The Shield - The Mistake
Tumblr media
AN: I'm working two jobs so posts will be slow. pls, bear with me through these hard times frl.
You loved your life, your group, the outfits, the vibe, and everything presented in front of you. Most of all you loved Seth, Roman, and Dean; they were family from the moment you joined the group. Though when you joined the group they were apprehensive, to say the least, ultimately they all admitted it was the best decision they've made collectively. But all of you had a swore hatred towards the Judmentday. They were too loud; too much; and too fucking cocky in your opinion. Now the boys were completely thorough in their dislike; you on the other hand...had a childlike crush on Dominik Mysterio.
It made no sense to you honestly, he was just as much of a dick as the rest of the group, but he seemed kind underneath it all. Like maybe it wasn't in his nature to be so disrespectful. But Monday night proved you wrong.
It was destined to be a long match, one where the groups would go act each other until everyone was worn out and restless. Despite how good The Judgement Day was, you had the intention to win. In fact, you had no doubt that you would win. So when you and Seth were inside the ring together, bouncing around, Dominik and Damian were trying to find the best way to stop you both from hitting them. Damian took a kick; from you; to the chest and stumbled back for a moment. But Dominik was slammed directly onto his back and he was completely winded. Dominik had gritted his teeth and held his chest, just barely rolling to the side to cover himself. It looked so real and the concern you felt only made the facade more convincing.
You ignored everything around you like an idiot; you had forgotten the nature of, The Judgement Day. You skidded down on your knees beside Dominik, and you grabbed him by the arm to roll him over. The second you did his eyes flashed open and his hand went against your shoulder just as fast. He pushed you down and pinned you with no problems; you weren't in pain. More so just paralyzed in shock. At the 3rd count and ring of the bell, Dominik shot up with a victorious smile and went to celebrate with his group. While you sat up and smacked the ring; now you were pissed. Anything you felt for Dominik had disappeared at his stupid stupid trick.
You looked up to exactly what you expected, Roman glaring, Dean running his hands down his face in disappointment, and Seth shaking his head.
--------------------------------
"You have to be fucking kidding me", Dean just about snarled at you. You open your mouth to speak but Seth cuts you off before you even begin, "What happened?". Your mouth opens again only to be interrupted once again, "I think it's pretty clear, she has the hots for that dick" Dean scoffs. You glare at him, "He is not a dick" you mumble. Somehow you found yourself defending him after what he had done. "Really? Then what just happened out there?!", Roman says while making intense eye contact with you. You felt like you were in some kind of intervention at the moment. They all looked at you; waiting for you to say something; anything.
"I don't know", you mumbled and looked at the floor like a coward. You had already felt bad for causing the match, but of course, this hurt worse than that and 100 injuries combined. "We needed you and you go check on the enemy!", Dean has begun yelling now and took a step closer to make it clear he was talking to you. Roman puts his hand out across Dean's chest and shakes his head much like before. You snap your head up to look at Dean and the burning of tears has just started, "He's not the enemy!!", you yell back at him.
"He is!", Dean snarls. You cross your arms and argue back, "He's not". Seth finally cuts in, "But The Judgment Day is?" he questions. You deflate and puff out your cheeks; "That's different", your back to mumbling. "It's not" Roman cuts in and it finally seems like that's all they had left to say. Dean scoffs and just walks away, Roman follows after him without a glance. But Seth pats you on the shoulder with a disappointed look before walking the same. You bang your hand on the wall and curse at yourself for fucking up so badly.
That loss will be the talk of the month, The Shield has never lost to The Judgment Day; at least not until tonight. You walked out of the locker room but your mind felt as heavy as your steps. You had to sit down, but when you walked out and slouched on the wall beside the locker room. You saw the same Dominik Mysterio sitting on the floor, on the other side of the wall, right in front of you. You looked at him with glossy eyes and longing. Even after thinking all the feelings you held for him were lost, not only did your heart beat faster but you had defended him minutes prior. Dominik bit his lip and scratched his eyebrow, "I heard what all you said in there" he commented.
Your lip curled in anger, "Yea? Then you should've heard how much shit you got me into" you spat and pulled your knees closer to your chest. Dominik had only nodded, but he looked up at you front behind his wispy hair; "I didn't ask you to check on me". You roll your eyes like your intention was obvious, "It was the right thing to do" you said quickly. "That's not it", Dominik said right after you.
The hallway was vacant and the space between you both was so vast. You felt as if you could drift away from him at any moment. You also felt like the tears in your eyes had a long time from drying. Though for some reason Dominik made it feel a little better.
From Dominik's point of view, he sees a woman struggling with the mistake of helping an asshole, also known as himself. He felt so bad, and The Judgement Day could never know he was apologizing or a win. For you, nearly everything felt worth it.
Your eyebrows pull in and you squint at him, "What?". "You didn't check on Damian when he fell to the floor at the beginning, so that's not why", he had analyzed your every movement. You clenched your jaw; looked at him and then back down at your lap, "I have no clue what you're talking about". Dominik bit the inside of his cheek and nodded; it felt like you were lying to him, but he had no proof of that at the end of the day. "Well I wanted to say sorry anyways", he muttered; almost like apologizing was something he rarely did. Maybe that was so.
You heard his apology and your lips twitched into a smile while you were still looking down, "You are?". Dominik nodded but you couldn't see, so he reiterated; "That's what I said". And finally, as if it was a miracle you looked up once again, "Smart ass". He laughs with a big smile that you only had the pleasure of seeing on the big screen. You click your tongue at him and lay your chin on your knees, "So you feel bad huh?", you pester him. Dominik snorts and rolls his eyes, running a hand through his hair, "Just a bit...how can I make it up to you", he says the last bit with hesitance. He has underlying intentions that he couldn't share yet. "What do you have in mind?"
"How about dinner, Hermosa"

Task Force 141 Cashier AU Headcanons
Soap and Gaz are like the sunshines of the entire store. When those two first joined, everyone was surprised by how much better the atmosphere became. Everyone’s mood lifts by about 80% when those two are on shift together. Everyone warmed up to them immediately, and Ghost gets along with Soap the best. You can just take their interactions from the game and plant them into this AU: all the banter, jokes, and light flirting. Ghost isn't as closed off as he was before, and Price and Laswell are in the back patting themselves on the shoulders for a job well done recruiting these two.
Soap's all chatty, smiling at the customers, greeting everyone with a big smile, and joking around with them. The customers love him the most, and he probably has like four reviews praising him highly on Yelp or some shit like that. The newbies love him too.
Gaz isn't as energetic as Soap, but he’s also friendly and always ready to help. Both he and Soap make the best work buddies, and Gaz is secretly Price's favorite.
I imagine Soap and Gaz are always competing against each other for fun: who cleans the store the fastest, who scans items faster, who makes more money by the end of the shift, who restocks the shelves the quickest. There's a clipboard in the break room where the rookies keep a list of their ongoing competition.
Their charisma and good mood is also one of the main reasons why they mainly work at the registers and not in the back. That's where Ghost works most of the time, always filling up shelves or planning the next day ahead with Price in the office. It’s just better for everyone that way.
Ghost probably has a resting bitch face and looks annoyed and ready to run someone over with the pallet truck 24/7, but he’s actually really helpful if you ask him something. He’s the type to walk customers to the items instead of just pointing in the general direction. Nice elderly people love him, and kids and young adults immediately jump onto the shelves to make room for him when he needs to get by. Ghost is probably that silent coworker you’re never sure if he hates you or tolerates you, but I’m sure he gives the best advice to the rookies next to Price.
When dealing with difficult customers, Price is the best at handling them—always level-headed and cool, never losing his composure. Not even Laswell is this patient, and the woman has probably been in the industry the longest.
Now, Soap and Gaz? They don't take disrespect. They try their best to stay friendly, but they know "The customer is always right" is not the full quote, and they make sure the assholes know it too if they go too far. Price has to intervene every single time before shit really hits the fan. I haven't seen much of Gaz, but based on the bit of gameplay I saw, Soap is probably the worse of the two. Gaz would probably get all sassy and sarcastic, and Soap would just speak his mind, damn the consequences.
Ghost, on the other hand, never lashes out at anyone. It doesn't matter how difficult they are—he’s the type to just stare them down quietly and wait for backup so he can retreat in peace and let someone else handle the mess, mostly Price or Laswell. But that doesn't mean he isn't pissed. He gets broodier than usual, and to cool off, he just waits for Soap to have his break so they can talk shit and gossip together.
Shepherd is probably that asshole manager who visits from time to time and always finds something to complain about. Graves is that one exchange coworker from another store who sometimes gets sent over when the personnel won’t be enough for the shift. At the beginning, everyone liked him, especially Soap, who got along with him like they were long-lost brothers, but Graves said some bullshit one day or did something disrespectful, and now everyone hates him—Soap especially. My guy doesn’t forgive nor forget, same as Ghost. Everyone else just tries to ignore Graves to the best of their ability.
When the shift ends, they always stay behind and talk a bit about work or life. It’s the most wholesome shit. Soap's probably the guy to come to work on a bike, but I think after everyone got comfortable with each other, Soap either lets himself be driven home by Gaz (Soap has some serious gas money debt) or by Ghost.

Living in the same dorm as the most mischevious and evil member sounds pretty complicated, maybe even dangerous. As maknae of Stray Kids, Jeongin could confirm this. You’re never safe. Even if you’re minding your own business.
“Hey, Innie. What are you up to?” Minho slowly approached his future victim.
The cat mom had been planning this situation all day. He would innocently make small talk with the Jeongin. At some point, the maknae would get tired and tell him to get out. Obviuosly he won’t let that slide. That is the moment when he is going to get his sweet revenge.
“Hi, hyung. I’m just playing on my phone” The fox nonchalantly replied. His calm behaviour was making Lee Know even more exited, knowing that the boy wasn’t going to be so relaxed in just a few more minutes.
“I see. Are just gonna ignore me? You know, you should respect your elders, I.N- ah…” The wicked (that’s such a funny word) bunny was trying to annoy the younger on purpose.
“I’m not falling for that, hyung. You’re the greatest and I respect you very much. I literally washed your plate after lunch and I bought you ice cream. You have no excuse to tickle me.” Maybe, just maybe he had underestimated the youngests intelligence, because Jeongin was aware of the olders intentions the second he stepped foot into his room.
Minho gasped in realization: the maknae was being nice to him all day because of that?! Sounds pretty unfair. And disrespectful.
“Listen, if you think that you can show your hyung this kind of attitude, then you should expect to get punished! Did you hear yourself, young man? Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?”
“Hey! Don’t bring my mom into this! Plus, you’re quite a mom yourself” the latter giggled at his very creative joke “Oh? Well, does your mom do this?” the leader of danceracha suddenly ran towards the laying boy.
“Don’t touch me!” the future lee yelled, defending himself with his feet “Are you threatening me?” Lee (more like ler) Know maneuvered his way through the dangerous obstacle that Innie’s legs were.
The method that Jeongin was using was pretty much useless. Minho was just too skilled! Once cought one his very ticklish legs, he knew it was over.
“Oh my, who do we have over here~” the cat lover teased “Yah! I’m gonna kick you if you do that!” the maknae complained when the lers teasing turned physical - he had squeezed his knee “Go ahead, you’ll just get yourself in more trouble” the dancer shrugged.
“Just s-stop, hyung. I’m not even ticklish anymore!” There it was. Now the cute fox wasn’t as calm as he was before “Oh, you’re not ticklish? I remember differently…” There seemed to be no way out. Unless…
Jeongin tested his luck one last time. He aggressively rolled to the side. Maybe he could get away in the last few moments that he had?
Apparently, being in a very vulnerable and ticklish position makes you stupid, because he had just rolled into the tight space between his bed and the wall. Innie tried his best to move around, but he seemed to be… Stuck.
While Minho, on the other hand was having the time of his life. His plan had worked! Well, not exactly how he imagined it would, but win is a win “You’re all mine now, Innie!~ Isn’t that amazing?”
I.N. was panicking. How long would the older tickle him? And how harshly? The worst part: he was facing down, meaning that he had no way of seeing his hyung’s next moves.
“Poor you! How about I help you out, how does that sound?” “Horrible.” the cat man simply smiled “Look, let me just-“ in an attempt to actually rescue the younger, the dancer gripped his waist and tried to at least flip him so he wouldn’t feel so vulnerable “Quit ittt! Thahat tickles!” Minho sighed “And I thought you weren’t ticklish, I.N-ah… I was honestly trying to help, will you please cooperate?”
Obviuosly, Les Know was not going to miss out on such opportunity. This was the perfect time to get some revenge. And to have some fun.
“Look, how about you raise your arms up. This way it will be easier for you to get out” Minho was trying his best to not burst out laughing “I was stupid enough to do… This. But I’m not that stupid” Jeongin muttered.
“Keep those arms up, now!” Innie gulped in fear. He did not want to find out what would happen if he didn’t. So, he obeyed.
“Good, now let me help you out here…” Lee Know smiled as he slighly pushed the bed closer to his future victim, which made him even more stuck than he was before. Not to mention that he was completely inmobile WITH his arms up and torso completely vulnerable.
The ler obviously took advantage of this by immediately sticking his fingers into the lee’s armpits “yAHAhaha! Hyung! You saHAHAid you’ll help me OUAHAHAT! STOHOHOP!” the maknae giggled as the second oldest pressed them deeper into the sensitive spot.
“Hmmm… How about no!” Minho teased switching from poking his armpits to using all 10 fingers to claw his ribs “MIHIHIHINHO HYUHUHUHNG PLEHEHEASE! NOHOHO!” it was safe to say that this made the fox go absolutely feral.
The maknae was not very good with consistent rough tickles. He was pretty tired already, considering that Minho was using this exact method “DOHOHOHON’T! PLE- PLEHEHEASE ANOTHEHEHER SPOOOOT~!” Jeongin managed to whine thru his laughter.
He did eventually listen to the poor boy. However, being tickled in another spot, like Jeongin had begged, didn’t really do him any good. In fact, the new spot was a lot worse than the last one.
“HYUHUHUHUHUHNG P-PLEHEHEASE! I-I CAHAHAHAN’T-“ “Yah, why are you complaining? I switched spots just like you asked. Are you being disrespecful, perhaps? Do you need to be tought a lesson?” the ler “angrily” yelled, vibrating his fingers deeper into the back of the lee’s thigh.
“I-IHIHI- YAHAHAHA DOHON’T! I CAHAHAN’T BREATHEHEHEHE” soon enough, the maknaes laughter went silent, which made the bunny give him a break “Alright, I’ll give you a breather. Please don’t die, Chan will kill me”
“A breather? You’re not done?” Innie managed to sqeak out thru his attemp to catch his breath “The more you talk, the more trouble you’ll be in” Minho calmly stated.
The tickler inpatiently sat on the bed for aproximatly 7 seconds before getting bored “Are you done resting?” “It’s been like 50 second, please let me have at least a m-!” I.N. was cut off by a very rough yet tingly feeling on his very sensitive V-line and hip area “NOHOHOHOHO STOHOHOP I-I’M GOING TOHOHO DIEEE~~!” Jeongin was wildly cackling and thrashing around, unable to take the feeling.
Lee Know’s long fingers had wrapped themselves around boys sides. Even though only the tips of them reached the dreaded spot, it still made the sensitive boy react like a maniac.
It seemed like Minho was on a mission. A mission to kill Jeongin.
The ruthless tickler got bored of his victim’s loud, annoying belly laughter. He wanted to hear some whiny giggled. Good thing that he knew exactly how to get those.
“What do you think about ticklish necks?” the dancer inquired “NO. Dohon’t you dare, Lee Minho hyung.” the fox warned “Don’t what?” “Tickle my neck!” Jeongin wanted to slap his face. Too bad that his hands were completely inmobile “Well, if you insist, mister Yang!”
“Ehehehehe stohohohohop plehehehease~” neck tickles were the maknaes weakness. “Either i’m really funny, or you’re really ticklish.” Lee Know teased.
Those sweet giggles of his were a produced by some very light brushing against the sesitive skin. You’re probably wondering how would he react to some more instense actions…
“NOHOHOHOHO MIHIHIHINHO HYUHNG DOHOHOHOHON’T!!” here’s your answer. Once Lee Know stopped the soft stroked and properly dug in, eliciting quite a response from the ticklish boy.
Minho was very much enjoying torturing the younger, but all those inhuman screams that left Jeongin’s mouth must have called someone’s atttention. And that someone was Felix. However, he was smart enough to not intervene, knowing that if he did, he would the next victim.
The freckled boy was sure that there must have been some kind of inhumane torture method used in the act. Because there was no way that those screams were from tickling, which was his first guess.
“WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!” the leader’s stern voice bounced along the walls of Jeongin’s room “W-We were just playing around. I swear…” Minho’s innocent boba eyes pierced Chan’s worried gaze. Chris’ angry scrunched up face relaxed once he cought up on what was happening.
“Ah, I see. Sorry for yelling. It’s just that the way that Felix explained everything… This kid, I swear! He made it seem like you killed Innie” the kangaroo ranted, slowly aproaching the boys that he had yelled at just mere seconds ago.
“Oh my… I.N-ah, are stuck there?” Chan giggled once he got close enough to see the rather peculiar situation that the youngest was stuck in “Obviously. Just help me get out. This… I don’t even have the words to describe this cruel being, just wrecked me so hard. I was literally about to die!” the “cruel being” sat there faultlessly smiling at his only hyung.
The wolf sighed, gripping the edge of the bed and pulling it back, making enough space for the fox to freely move and finally free himself “Aish, Minho, come on. We’ve talked about this! You need to stop tickling members so ruthlessly like that! Unless they agree to it, of course. Looks like we’re gonna need to get some revenge some of these days…”
The innocence quickly faded as the guilty criminal hurriedly scrambled away.
•• ━━━━━━━•• ❖ •• ━━━━━━━ ••
I hope you liked this one just as much as I did. Do you like Chan’s idea? Cause I think it would be amazing. Remember how Minho oppened up about his liking for tickling in the fic “Switch”? I think skz are going to take advantage of that…

Today I find my myself not sad but stressed and hurt.
He has been acting so different lately, all in the span of a month and a half he wants to move across the country without even talking to me about it, just hoping I’d agree right off the bat. He explained that he wanted to get married and wanted to have kids, but that won’t be possible anymore bc I don’t wanna go and he does. But the crazy thing is that he didn’t even bother talking to me about it, he never even asked how I felt about it. He didn’t even consider me part of his life in the future anymore. Heck he even said he’d go by himself if it came down to it.
I can’t believe he would be okay with me not being in his life anymore. That’s the first sign.
Every time I bring it up how it’s not good to just leave without taking proper steps to saving up or having anything lined up, he gets incredibly upset with me and tells me to stop stressing him out. He basically shuts me out or I get ignored when I even attempt to talk to him.
It’s so incredibly hard to talk to him these days. It’s like my input doesn’t matter anymore. And it’s so frustrating, any time I say anything at all I get ignored or shut out. We don’t talk anymore and he’s so disrespectful to me all the time now.
When we first started dating he asked about a threesome and I said absolutely not. He kept asking so many times after and I kept saying no and expressed how much the thought of that made me uncomfortable. Awhile back he asked me if I wanted to have a threesome and it really caught me off guard bc it’s been a long time since he’s asked me that after our last talk about it. I told him I’d think about it. And just now he asked me again if I’d want to with some rando off of tinder.
I understand he’s not yet had the chance to explore his sexualities bc of being a virgin for so long. But he knew going into this relationship with me that I am not the one to ask such things like that. I am not the one to do things like that anymore. I’m happy with who I am and satisfied with my sexual life. I’m perfectly comfortable not exploring anything like that ever again. I’m so ready to settle down.
And he knew this from the start and yet he has the audacity to get upset with me for my personal preferences. He’s so disrespectful for continuing to ask me that same threesome request of the ALMOST 3 years we’ve been together. I said no from the beginning and that should have been enough and he promised me he would never ask me something like that again especially noticing how upset the topic made me feel . He’s showing me he’s not in it for my gain but just his. He doesn’t care if I’m comfortable he just wants to do what he wants not considering the consequences of how it would affect me.
I’m starting to feel like there’s no other choice but to go our separate ways. I’m obviously an obstacle in his life. He wants to move away and he can’t bc of me, he wants to explore his sexuality but I’m just in the way.
Idk if he’s capable of cheating on me. I love him a lot but I don’t think he sees me the same anymore and after everything and him pushing me away all the time, I have started not to see him the same anymore.
Sex used to be such a loving activity for each other, at least for me. I felt it was very soul bonding and I just felt so loved. But the very last time we did it. It was physically great but I didn’t feel that warm loving feeling anymore. That feeling was gone. Idk where it went but I try to look for it in him all the time but it’s never there anymore.
Someone is going to end up so incredibly hurt and I know for a fact it’s going to be me.

So I made another post about Yellowstone, and this was a part of but it got so long I decided to put this section here.
This show wants it to be like, idk 1970 maybe 80 at the latest so bad is makes them do really shit plots.
To explain that, now I’m going to need to explain more things. There’s these two characters Beth -lord cowboys daughter (he owns the ranch) and no I don’t remember his name- and her lover, whose name I also forget, let’s call him Head Servant (HS). Beth is written as a mean ice queen, and HS is written as a man so traumatized he has no choice but to lock all that in a vault and bury it deep down and lie that his is normal actually and good and he deserves it. Also he can’t accept raising a child that isn’t “his” because of course he can’t. Nonesense. Also Beth had an abortion resulting in loosing her uterus because or course that’s where this show would go.
They are as fucked up as you could imagine.
So, in this season they take in this kid, and I’m gonna call him Kid. Because I’m sure the show would if it could and also I forget his name -tbh I feel bad the show disrespects this child so much and I can’t even remember his name partly because I was too appalled. As I recall, Beth meets Kid (he’s between 12 and 14? I think?) at the hospital where her family is finding out again (from fucking around) and his dad is dying of an overdose. So, he’s kinda a little shit, on account of his parents kinda sucked, and this is a shit day for him. Beth takes a liking to him. Later the kids dad dies, and his mom and other family are not around and he hates foster care (I will not get into the how foster care is portrayed here in allusion but it’s bad) and many things happen and he ends up with Beth again and she takes him home to her giant house.
So, Beth and HS argue about taking Kid in. Beth wants to take him in and ya know, treat him like a child in need of a home, and HS thinks they need to give him tough love turned up to 11 and not “pamper” him, or “treat him like a pet”. No, he should basically just be the new stable boy. I’m guessing someone was like “uh, I think having him sleeping in the stables is a big too far guys -editors note: that’s wrong he did sleep in there.
Let me be clear, It’s supposed to be roughly modern day. And this is a show for normies. Beth partially ignores HS when she takes Kid to get new clothes, which makes sense because he’s been wearing the same black hoodie and jeans for as long as we’ve known him. So because she’s a being decent rn, they go to the nice store -it’s basically Dicks Sporting goods. And Kid is so excited, because he’s getting like new clothes from a decent store with someone whose been kinda nice and then he wants the nicer stuff. Because he’s a child, who feels kinda safe and isn’t used to that it seems like? The portrayal is him kinda being a shit -horrible decision imo. So Beth gets mad because he’s being greedy. Now boundaries are good but she goes full Karen in the sporting goods store about this. Ridiculous shit. Attacks some random person who calls her out on her bs behavior. Then, gets nothing and takes him back to the farm to muck out the stables or whatever. Which he continues to do in the same ass clothes for several episodes, and that is at minimum several days. Until she finally makes up with Kid enough and goes to like Goodwill or whatever to buy him some actual clothing. He didn’t even has boots or proper shoes for this, I think he’s wearing the same sneakers.
Again, Kid looks like a preteen. He has done some minor mischief, and he has had a shit life. But the show has its *vibe* so they have to have this slow build to Beth, Kid, and HS starting to become a family and caring for each other like humans. And I mean barely like starting to get thee by the end of the season. I think Social Services knows he’s there? He’s done the minorest bs crimes that he wasn’t convicted of or anything. But none of these people know how to show actual care and compassion -in the main cast at least- so we get “Alright Kid, since your in a bind with this Forster care thing we’ll let you stay here. Earn your keep mucking out the stables and doing what we need doing and you’ll a get a meal and a bed. Works from sunup to sundown. If you do well maybe you can be a real cowboy one day after your voice drops. Now get to it.” Except he’s staying in Beth’s massive house and she’s why he’s here. Like she plucked this orphan off the street but he can’t be family (for reasons) so it’s to the servants quarters rs he goes where he can learn the value of hard labor and be trusted to be loyal b/c he’s been rescued from his terrible fate. Ridiculous bs. This is again, a modern show. They have iPhones and shit. I don’t even think he got paid?!
PS: I have been informed Kid was sleeping in the stables at a point. I guess my mind just didn’t want to accept they actually did that. Also I saw the last episode of season 2 and he calls Beth mom and she tells him he can’t because it’s not true. And he’s so sad and she tells him not to cry because it won’t help. This poor child tbh foster care may very well be better. Also no I’d still didn’t remember their names and didn’t feel like editing that in if I did.

My Father's daughter pt 3
Tony Stark x daughter!reader
Summary: Back at the Tower, Y/n has a talk with Pepper.
a/n: ohhh another part finished!! some new characters will be revealed next part and i’m so great full for @social-media-imagines-by-me fir helping me create them💕💕
Tumblr media
You were furious.
You stormed into your room and slammed the door, finding satisfaction in the loud bang it produced. You then ripped through your drawers and closet, pulling on some work out clothes and some gloves. You then marched out of the room, slamming the door again, startling Sam and Bucky who happened to be passing by.
"Geez kid, slam it a little harder I don't think it fell off the hinges yet." Sam jokes, but you were in no joking mood so you swirled around with fire in your eyes.
"You okay doll?" Bucky softly asks, pushing a frightened Sam to the side. You sigh, knowing it's not fair to take out your anger on them.
"Sorry Sam, it's just...my biological mom is here and wants me to move in with her."
"Oh..." Bucky says, not good with things like this, " Do you want me to like...kill her or..."
"NO" You laugh, " It's just I haven't seen her in nine years and she has the audacity to come up here like it's nothing?!"
Your anger returns, " She thinks that just because she pushed me out of her vagina"
The two men cringe at the words
"That she can just claim me? That's not how it works!" You shout, " And, she brought her fucking husband. The man she left us for! Who does that?!"
Bucky looks at Sam, mentally asking him what they should do. Sam just rolls his eyes and turns back to you.
"Come on kid, it looks like you wanna punch something."
and with that he lead you to the training room where Steve was training with Peter.
"Come on queens, you gotta stay on your feet" Steve k=jokes as he, again, trips Peter.
"Mr. Rogers, do you think we should take a break?" Peter pants.
You stride pass them, not bothering to say hi. They look at Sam and Bucky for an explanation and just get a shake of the head.
"Hey Y/n that's my punching" Steve started to say when he saw you throw a hard punch to the bag, "Nevermind..."
You ignore the group behind you, opting to pummel the poor punching bag in front of you.
Your mind flashes back to your mother and her words.
"A girl needs her mother"
*punch*
"Oh petal I wanted to call"
*punch* *punch*
"Come to Gotham. Meet your siblings!"
*BANG*
You look down to see the punching bag flew off the hook and is spilling sand on the floor. You were confused, as you knew you weren't strong enough to do that, not even when you were angry.
"Wow, I guess Cap didn't secure that hook again."
You jump, not expecting someone to be there, as you heard Sam, Bucky, Steve, and Peter leave. You turn to see Pepper there looking at the bag in surprise. You sigh, stepping away from the mess and taking off your gloves. You make your way to the bench and take a swig of water.
"Did you need something Pep?" You ask, avoiding eye contact.
"Well, i was just wondering if my kid was okay. But given the fact that you punched that bag like it would restore your honor.."
You knew you shouldn't have showed her Avatar.
"I'm assuming your not." She finishes.
You give her a half smile, looking down at your hands.
"Y/n" She says, " Talk to me."
You finally speak, "Why now?"
Pepper frowns, understanding that small phrase, ' I don't know."
"She's not my mother." You state, " She...she might have been once but now?"
Pepper nods," I love you."
You smile, the words reassuring you, " I love you too Pep."
"Come on, your messing up your manicure." She says with a smile, standing and extending a hand towards you. You feel your demnor soften and your mood lighten. Pepper always managed to make you feel better.
"Yeah okay..thanks." You say, taking her hand and letting her pull you from the bench, " Are you hungry? Cause I am>"
"Y/n we just ate!"
"Like an hour ago"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Days went by and you hadn't heard a peep from Christine. It was like she went off to lick her wounds and just decided not to reach out again.
Which didn't bother you one bit.
But apparently the universe wanted to fuck with you because when you came home from a day out with Peter, there was your mother, Bruce Wayne, and all six million of her fucking kids sitting on the couch.
"What the fuck?" You say causing the attention to turn to you.
"Language" Peter says, You smile softly at him before then turning to glare at Tony.
"Don't look at me, it was your moth-uh Peppers idea." Tony stumbled, looking rather uncomfortable sharing a drink with the man that his...wife? girlfriend?... whatever she was left him for.
"Pep what?" You asking, softening your glare because you'd be damned if you disrespected her.
"I just think it'd be best if we clear the air and get everything out on the table." Pepper said in that tone she uses when she's dealing with difficult people or the press. You called it her CEO tone.
"Now, go take your bags upstairs and wash up. And I'll pretend that you aren't an hour late"
"It was Peter's idea..." You mumbled and walking to the stairs that lead to the bed rooms.
"It was not!" Peter shouts following you to the rooms to help with the bags.
Christine watched as her daughter walked out of the room, playfully arguing with Peter. It was as if she were a whole different person, carefree and playful. Totally different from when she was glaring and stiff when talking to her. It broke her heart hearing Tony refer to Pepper as her Mother rather than Christine. But what did she expect?
Damian scoffed catching her attention, "Mother I do not see why you've dragged us here, that girl didn't even acknowledge us."
"Damian, enough" Bruce said, not looking away from his awkward conversation with Tony.
"Gee if only I could do that with our kids." Tony mutters into his drink.
"Does Y/n argue often?" Bruce asks trying to engage in conversation.
Tony laughs before fondly speaking, " Sort of. She isn't the type to back down when she thinks something is right. There was this one time I caught her arguing with one of my business partners about his "condescending tone and misogynistic attitude"."
""And did she apologize after?"
"Hell no. She glared at me and told me apologizing just for his ego would be demeaning her experiences as a woman. Although to be fair he was an asshole."
Bruce chuckles, " She sounds like a well rounded young woman. How old was she then?"
"Ah about 10, it was funny seeing this little girl argue in a Justin Bieber shirt argue about the patriarchy with a full grown man."
Bruce and Tony shared a laugh, picturing the scene.
"You must be very proud of her." Bruce mentions after they quieted down. Tony let a small smile escape.
" I am. She's had a rough life, and I..." Tony trails off, " She means everything to me. Without her...I don't think I'd be the same person I am today."
And with that, Tony downed his drink and stood, " Want another?"
Bruce smiled and accepted, watching Tony leave. He can tell that the man was close to his daughter. A bond that formed due to a loss, they both grew from it and grew closer. He understood, thinking about his own children.
Pepper and Christine were having a somewhat similar conversation, although it was a little more tense.
"So...Pepper-"
"Virginia." Pepper said, cutting her off.
"Excuse me?"
"My name is Virginia. Pepper is a nickname my family calls me."
"Oh. Okay, Virginia, how long have you known Y/n and Tony?"
"Oh about nine or so years. I was promoted to assistant when I saw how much of a mess Tony was." Pepper said casually.
Dick and Jason tensed, overhearing the tense conversation between the two mothers. But before Dick could interrupt Jason sat him back down.
"I wanna see what happens."
Christine continued, " And when did you become a..more permanent around the house?"
"When I saw that Y/n the one taking care of Tony." Pepper said in a serious tone, "She was the one making sure he didn't choke on his vomit and eating cereal as his flings walked out the room. Then he got kidnapped...and y/n was alone. So I made sure she’d never be alone again.”
Christine heart sank. She knew about the whole kidnapping thing. Why she didn't step in, she doesn't know. It's just another thing she regrets to this day.
Before Pepper could continue, she heard two sets of footsteps and voices
"All I'm saying is, if he looks at me funny, I'm fighting him and that's that."
"Yeah maybe not the best impression on..." Peter cuts off when they reach the living room. Eyes again on the two of you.
"Let's get this over with." You muttered, saying bye to Peter and making way over to the couch to sit next to Pepper.
"Y/n!" Christine says happily, " I'm glad you're here. We brought you something!"
She pulls out a box and she carefully hands it over to you.
You look at it suspiciously before getting a nudge from Pepper.
"Thank you." You grit out. Earning a glare from Damian and Cassandra.
You open the box to see...cupcakes.
"They're the peanut butter strawberry cupcakes you used to like. Remember? I used to bring them when I came to see you." Christine says, trying to bring up good memories.
You frown and close the box, " I'm allergic to strawberries."
Lie.
Pepper casts a glance towards you, "They look lovely, let me take them into the kitchen, I'll check on dinner."
And with that she takes the box and leaves into the kitchen. Leaving you and Tony alone.
"So...Stark" Damian started fixing his gaze on you.
"Yes, Wayne?" You said, matching his energy.
"What exactly is it you want from my mother?" He asks, earning a groan from his older brothers.
"Well, I'd appreciate it if she left me alone." You say with a straight face.
Christine frowns but before she says something Damian speaks up again.
"Tt, all this drama for the likes of you? It's honestly disappointing" He drawls, trying to get under your skin.
"Damian!" Christine scolded.
"Well, I apologize for not meeting your standards. I'd try harder if I cared what a toddler thought of me."
Jason let out a surprised chuckle while the rest of the family looked on in shock. Tony just rolled his eyes.
"I do not understand why Mother insists on rekindling her relationship with you. You obviously weren't worth the effort the first time around." He spits, causing the rest of the family to gasp.
You however, just laugh, " When you figure it out, let me know. It's probably the same reason she puts up with you."
Damian glares, about to start in again when Jason cuts him off " Shut up Demon. She got you man."
"Tt"
"I'm Jason, and anyone who can out that brat in check is good in my book." He says sending you a smirk.
You smile back, " I'm friends with Loki and Wade Wilson, I'm hardly affected by anything anymore." Your dad rolls his eyes again, he’s not exactly enthusiastic about your choice in friends.
You like this one. Probably the one you're gonna be able to stand in this family.
"Don't hog her Jason!" Dick shouts pushing him away before turning to smile at you, " Hi! I'm-"
"Dick Grayson. I know, you spilled your champagne on my dress a few years ago at a New Years gala." You say, still a little bitter about it.
"Oh. heh, right, sorry about that. Again." He says sheepishly.
You turn to Cassandra, " You're Cassandra. You and your friend cornered me in the bathroom."
Cassandra scowls and looks away.
Then you turned to Tim, " And you need to learn how to secure your fire walls better."
Tim looked at you confused, "Um excuse me?"
You smirked, " Just a suggestion. I assume you don't want people to know about your...bats in the attic?"
The whole family froze.
You knew? There was no way.
"Kid, are you hacking again?" Tony said exasperatedly, " You promised you'd stop after the last time."
"Hey it's not my fault Shuri didn't think about changing her password." You say defensively, “ and it’s not like you were complaining when you had me hack into SHEILDS databases”
“What was that!?” Pepper shouts from the kitchen.
“Heheh, nothing dear.” Tony shouts back then in a hushed voice scolds you, “ I gave you fifty bucks to keep that a secret.”
“I didn’t say what you had me retrieve.” You said smugly leaning back in your chair.
Bruce didn’t know how to feel.
On one hand, this teen that objectively hates his family, knows their biggest secret. She can singlehandedly destroy their family and expose them. And she has the means to.
But on the other, she’s a perfect fit for their family. She gets along with Jason, doesn’t let Damian get under her skin, and from the looks of it can definitely take care of herself. Only thing is, again, she hates his wife and by association, his family.
“I’m sorry, hacking? You know that’s illegal right?” Tim asks, still in shock that you got past his security systems.
You turn to him and in a bored tone replied , “Yeah? and?”
Tim stuttered for a bit before going quiet with a blush. It was adorable really.
You had to hold back a laugh, it was fun getting this stuffy family all riled up. Especially when you can see the disapproval in Christines face.
“Tony, you let our daughter participate in illegal activities??” Christine asks with a raised brow.
The table goes silent at the tone of her voice. Knowing that when she uses it someone is really in trouble.
But you roll your eyes because how are you supposed to know what that tone means?
“I let my daughter express herself in a ...healthy way. She knows her limits.” Tony replies cooly, taking a drink and looking back into the kitchen wondering where Pepper went.
”Obviously not. Tony she has no regard for the laws at all! You think i didn’t see the headlines last year?!”
Ah yes, last year you had a slight scandal where you may have punched a pap for trying to get a picture up your skirt but who wouldn’t?!
“ And you let her hang around criminals and terrorists?!”
You scoff, “ Oh please everyone in the Avengers was a criminal or terrorist at least once.”
“Not helping kid.” Tony says, “Christine, you and your family have no right to come into my home and judge my family. I’ve been civil. Hell maybe a little too much. Mainly because if I wasn’t, my wife—err Fiancée, would kill me.”
You snicker, earning a few glares.
“Look the point is, don’t tell me how to raise my daughter. Especially because I was doing it all alone.” Tony finishes with a sigh.
The table goes silent. You were getting tired of all the tense silences today.
“ Look.” You turn to Christine, “ I get that you probably feel guilty or something because you ditched me. And I appreciate that or whatever.”
You were not good at this.
“ But I don’t wanna live with you.”
Christine looks down sadly, “ Y/n I just...I just want to get to know you again. You’re my baby.”
Before you could answer you heard a crash come from the kitchen and smoke fill the rooms.
“ Pepper?!” You cough, “ Dad what’s happening?!”
“ I don’t know. Stay here” He says summoning his suit.
“FRIDAY?!” You shout, but not hearing the AI.
The Wayne’s all looked at each other in panic. They didn’t bring their suits, thinking it was just a dinner.
You turn to them and shout “ Come with me, and stay low!”
You start to lead them to the stair case, knowing that the rooms were relatively safe.
“Come on!” you yell when they don’t follow you.
Christine stands from her seat and makes to follow you before being stopped by Damian.
“Mother we cannot..”
“Damian, I’ve had about enough of you. Let’s go.” She says sternly and follows you. The rest of the family following behind as Bruce nudges Damian.
“ Come on son.”
“Father we don’t know where she’s leading us.” Damian says stubbornly.
“There’s nothing we can do right now.” he coughs.
The sounds of punching and the blasts come from the kitchen.
“Let’s go.”
They finally join the rest of the family. You have them crouched in the hallway.
“ This is James’ room. Dad had it modified just incase he was ever triggered into the Winter Solider again. No ones getting through this door when it’s locked.”
You usher them in.
“Come on Y/n” Christine says reaching a hand out to you.
You smirk, “ What? and miss all the action?”
You close the door and lock it before leaving. Laughing at their surprised faces.
The room is silent.
“ She’s awesome!” Jason says with a laugh.
Old Faces
Characters: Albedo, Xiao, Zhongli, gn!reader
Word Count: 2,151
Warnings: None
Premise: In which the reader runs into their ex
Author’s Note: Did something a little different by changing which character perspective it was for different prompts. I found it a good way to explore this particular prompt.
Albedo
The moment Albedo walked out of his office door he felt his stomach sink a bit.
Though the alchemist liked to think that he was a man of perfect rationality, whether by nature or by will, he couldn’t help but feel a knot in his stomach as he watched you talking to your ex.
Albedo knew that things hadn’t ended well in your last relationship, knew that there had been a lot of shouting and crying done by both parties, all culminating in you getting kicked out of your shared apartment. You didn’t like to talk about it even now, focusing on your relationship with Albedo instead of dwelling on the past. If any reminder of your ex ever surfaced you usually glared it before moving on.
That knowledge made your evidently awkward conversation all the worse. As you leaned against one of the beams which held up the alchemy front, seemingly distancing yourself as much as possible from the person in front of you, Albedo felt a sudden urge to run and wedge himself between the two of you. OF course he would never act upon something so unhelpful, but the alchemist was finding more and more that he’d be seized by illogical wishes the more he opened himself up to you.
Now he curbed his thoughts and made his way over, planting himself firmly next to you and not bothering to introduce himself beyond a curt nod. Not as if he needed an introduction anyways, as Albedo had run into your former partner a few times before, and the icy coldness between him and them was completely natural, at least on Albedo’s part.
“Ah Albedo!” You turned, smiling brightening for a moment. Placing a quick kiss on the alchemist’s cheek, something which caused warmth to immediately flood his face, you turned back towards your ex. “I’m sure you know about my partner, this is Albedo.”
“So you’ve been screwing around with this runt,” you ex shook his head as if disgusted. Narrowing his eyes, Albedo felt irritation wash over him, and for a moment he wondered if there was a potion that might indispose your ex for at least a week that could be easily hidden.
“Yes I’m currently in a relationship with him,” you replied, ignoring your ex’s jeer. “Not that it’s any of your business.”
“None of my business? Don’t I have the right to be worried for you?”
“Oh please,” you snorted. “If you really worried about me you wouldn’t have kicked me out. Now if you please I have something to do. I’m very glad to hear that you’re well and getting your life on track and everything, but in truth I think this is really awkward, so could you please give me at least a head’s up next time.”
“You’re still think you’re better than everyone,” your ex spat.
“No, they don’t.” Albedo heard himself say, finding himself more and more irritated by this conversation. “But though they would never admit it, they are certainly better than you. I suggest you listen to their warnings, otherwise there are a few elixirs that could certainly use a human test subject.”
Your ex’s face paled, and they let out a curse before turning away. Suddenly feeling very depleted of energy Albedo sighed.
“Hey, thanks for that.”
“Of course,” Albedo looked up at you. “You seemed uncomfortable.”
“I was,” you admitted. “They weren’t really listening to me, so thank you.”
Leaning over to kiss Albedo once more you stopped in surprise as your partner tilted his head so that your lips met his, instead of the cheek you were aiming for. Pulling back Albedo looked at the ground.
“Sorry, I realize that wasn’t what you were planning.”
“I don’t mind!” Your reply came fast. “I’m just surprised. You okay?”
“Of course I’m alright,” Albedo looked at you. “You should be more worried about yourself.”
“Why shouldn’t I be also worried about you?” You tilted your head. “I know that you don’t really like conflict. And I’m sure that was awkward for you as well.”
Albedo said nothing in reply, merely leaning over to kiss you gently on the forehead. You were so quick to notice things sometimes he couldn’t fathom it.
As the afternoon drifted on Albedo found himself once more thinking about how wonderful you were. There was no one in the world like you, no one nearly so precious to him, so worthy of love. If this was beyond the intelligence of a shadow of the past, well, what did it matter.
  Xiao
“Why don’t you just go back to them?”
You stared at your partner, surprised by the words that had just come out of his mouth. All day Xiao had been as prickly as a cactus, even more standoffish than usual, and all day you’d been trying to coax some words out of the silent yaksha who had taken to standing next to you all day. Now you wondered if that hadn’t been a mistake.
“What do you mean?” You felt your voice waver slightly. “Xiao why are you telling me to go back to my ex?”
You had run into a former significant other of yours at the Inn a day ago, as they had taken up a carpentry contract for the rotting bits of stairwell that made the Inn so difficult to manage sometimes. Though you two had long since been finished, the split had been amicable, and at the time it had felt nostalgic to simply chat with an old friend, a memory of an earlier part of your life when everything had been so different.
Though you were certainly aware that Xiao might have been watching, a suspicion confirmed by the adeptus’ questions that evening, you had never thought much of it. Sure it was your former partner, but it was too long ago to even think about now. You had been a dumb kid then, and though you might not be infallible now, you were certainly different. Standing across from your partner now you realized that not everyone appeared to hold the same opinon.
“Xiao, I know that I was talking to my ex yesterday, but just because I was doing so doesn’t mean I don’t love you or care about you. That was a very long time ago for me, if not for you, and I don’t see in them a partner anyone, I haven’t for years. I understand if you might not feel the same way regarding the timeframe, but there’s no reason to, well, I don’t know what you’re doing right now.”
You stared at your partner, who appeared to be glaring at the railing right next to your hand. You loved Xiao, despite all the rumors that often circulated him and the rest of the adepti. You also knew that Xiao had an incredibly fine-tuned sense of justice and logic. He normally wouldn’t hurl something at you like a challenge. Though he wasn’t perhaps the most well-versed in the ordinary lives of humans, you would hardly call him oblivious to human customs. Partner’s weren’t always partner’s for life. Why then was Xiao acting so cagey?
Now you partner let out a small “hmph!” Shifting himself so he was facing the outside, he stared out at the inky night of Liyue. His cheeks were warmed by the flickering candles of the Inn, and in that moment he seemed oddly vulnerable.
“Xiao,” you ventured. “Is something wrong, are you, are you still uneasy about yesterday.”
For a moment Xiao said nothing, and your heart began to sink. As you turned to walk away however you heard the soft tones of your partner’s voice.
“Would you be happier with them?”
“No,” the answer came automatic and true, “though I may have been their partner once, now they’re merely a friend. There is no one like you to me Xiao, there never will be; I realized that a while ago. Even if you worry about your karma or you lack of knowledge or whatever you shouldn’t worry that I’ll ever leave you.”
You quickly found yourself enveloped in your partner’s embrace. Letting a small sigh of relief pass your lips you returned the embrace fiercely. Feeling the arms around you tighten ever so slightly you found the strangest urge to laugh. Maybe because it was so silly, the idea that you would ever leave your partner. Though it was sad that he would never know how deeply those feelings ran.
“I’ll never go back to anyone but you,” you murmured.
 Zhongli
The first thing Zhongli thought was that you two looked so right together.
Though the ex-archon did not like to admit it, the doubts that he had had at the beginning of the relationship still plagued him. Not the doubts about his love for you, oh no he could never doubt such a thing not if all the stars went out. No, his doubts lay in himself, in who he was. Perhaps it was wrong of him to still linger on his impending immortality, something that you assured him you had come to terms with. It felt disrespectful towards your decision to continuously feel this way. Yet standing at the door of the Funeral Parlor, watching as you chatted with your former partner, Zhongli could not help but feel the familiar pain.
The walk home was spent in a bit of a fog, as Zhongli half-listened to you discuss your day. Normally he found everything about you fascinating, and the things your job put you through were no different. This time though the words trickled off his back like water off a duck’s wings, the image of your and your “ex”, as you called it, pressing down upon him.
“My love?” He found himself saying, not realizing he had made up the decision to ask you something. You paused your conversation, titling your head slightly.
“Is something wrong?”
“No.” It was a lie perhaps, but an understandable one. “I just wished to comment upon the fact that I saw you with your former significant other. I hope that all was well with them.”
“They’re fine,” you replied. “Doing great actually, if what they say is true. Then again then were always prone to lying.” You let out a small laugh.
“Do you miss them?” Zhongli found he could not contain his questions today.
“No, not really. To be honest, talking to them kinda sucked. They sort of half-ghosted me back in the day, and even though you have to keep up appearances and all, I mean I can’t take them to task now, it still hurt.”
“I am sorry to hear that.”
“Oh don’t be!” You shook your head. “I’m perfectly happy where I am now. Even if that whole debacle sucked, it’s worth it if it let this happen.”
The both of you glanced down at you intertwined hands. The image was so perfect in Zhongli’s mind that for a moment all his worries went away, and the golden sun seemed to brighten just a little bit.
Later that evening however Zhongli once more found himself thinking about it. He really had been shaken by you talking with your former partner. Even if they were not the right one, they were still human. Did that not make things easier for you? Happier for you? Zhongli thought back at your hands. How fast would they age in his mind, how fast would you notice how frozen Zhongli was. As if he was carved from rock, the ex-archon could only be eroded slowly. He could not grow old with you.
“My darling?” Zhongli murmured. It was dark and the two of you were in bed. Limbs tangled together, heads nestled close, Zhongli felt as if he could ask what he so feared.
“Yes?” Your voice was heavy with sleep.
“Do you ever regret falling in love with me?”
“No,” your murmured. “I know that you might not believe me, or you might not stop worrying, but you should. I love only you, my dear. I always will. Death will not change how much I love you.”
Zhongli pondered these words as your breathing evened and you slipped off into dreams. How could you say such a thing so nonchalantly, how could you be so sure? Then again, humans always seemed to be more confident in their decisions than those who had been given immortality.
Though the ex-archon wasn’t always fond of sleep, Zhongli felt himself begin to slip away. In the in between of awake and asleep everything seemed painted over, made simple by the logic of one half-dreaming. He would never be rid of these feelings. Perhaps then he should rely on yours. He relied on your for so much already.
Kissing your cheek before finally being dragged into sleep the last coherent thought Zhongli was aware of was that he loved you so very much.
Bnha Characters reacting to when you quit your job
bakugou
your steps were quiet as you tried to work up the energy to unlock your front door. Your hands sweating and cold when you finally got the energy to put the key in the lock a deep exhale leaving your lips when you finally walked in.
Your Body only carrying you to your kitchen counter before you dropped your keys and bag on the same counter your body now rested against.
The room heating up and shifting from the ice quiet atmosphere youd created when you felt strong arms wrap around your waist and pull you back to meet a hard chest
Small kisses being planted on the side of your neck as you let out another sigh of relief as you spoke trying not to drown in the comfort being given to you “ baby “
Your body shook as you heard a deep grunt of acknowledgment “ we — we need to talk “
you felt as another set of kisses were placed to your neck before his head snuggled into the spot between your neck and shoulder “ I— I think I made a mistake“
You bit at your lip as you kept going “ I— I was trying my best to stick up for myself y’know like you told me”
“ mm—and did you“
“ I did —I mean I did stick up for myself and I had to I needed to bu—”
“ slowly losing interest y/n “
you let out a shallow cough “ but I think I did it at the wrong time “
his body stood up a bit straighter head still remaining in the same place somehow “ baby I —i lost my job “
You felt as your boyfriends body went hard almost as if he was trying not to slam your own body into the floor in anger his grip around your waist only getting tighter “ like I said I — I wrong time“
“ wrong time? — y/n wrong place “ he screamed as he jolted your soul out of your already shaken figure. His head flying back to look at you conveying all the anger and annoyance he held, “ what the fuck do we do now “
you let out a small laugh to try to ease the tension “ we — we rely on your hero check ? “
You watched as he sucked his teeth and moved out of the kitchen “ I can barely feed a fucking roach with my salary y/n “ his voice getting louder as he walked into the living room you following closely behind “ i — i can barely feed you — us — y/n this is why we don’t have little crumb snatchers running around now “
his voice deep and heavy “ cause we’re broke do you get that babe ? huh no — fuck — you— fuck fuck fuck you gotta go back — you can’t just be chilling around the fucking house while i’m working my ass off that’s not how starting a family works y/n “
“ baby it’s just until I can get a new job “
“ tch— and how long will that take y/n “
“ well I— “
“ huh months ? “
“ well n— “
“ couple weeks “
“ I mean hopefull— “
“ babe you don’t even fucking know “ he sighed as he griped the skin on the bridge of his nose “ so fucking stupid — so so so fucking stupid “
the room went quiet as your eyes dropped to the ground. “ wel— no — I — I don’t know kats” you shook your head “ I— I really don’t“
“ and that’s the problem y/n “ he screamed eyes finally opening to look at you.
God, he loved you but seriously you just didn’t think sometimes
It’s not that he was calling you stupid it’s just that he really really loved you
He loved that you listened to him. That whenever he gave advice you heard it and went with it.
The night he told you to speak up he was honestly just fucking with you. He always forgets that he has someone who loves him now meaning he’s taken seriously. He always forgets he’s not in high school anymore.
He can’t say something crazy and asshole—ish and expect to just be ignored. He has someone that loves him and will truly listen.
Your not the stupid one
nor the one in the wrong he is
and he knows he is because he heard everything you said about your situation. Yet, he knew you were different from him whereas he had been speaking his mind for years regardless of ranks.
You couldn’t.
You had a job where everything relied on ranks and status. You couldn’t just say whatever the fuck you wanted to like he could and yet he convinced you that night to speak up whenever your boss gave you extra work you didn’t wanna do.
His eyes felt heavy and so did his body his brain automatically beating himself up as he stared at you imagining the rough day youd had. If he was pissed off with the current situation he could only imagine how you felt.
Someone who hated to rely on others yet, now having to rely on their boyfriend.
“ come here “ your eyes lit up at the statement as your tired body wobbled over and into bakugous arms. Head hitting his chest as he crushed you “ I love you and i’m proud of you “
your heart sank.
“ fuck those idiots you only have room for one anyways and hes— fuck trust me I know i’m enough “
Shoto
“ so “
“ so “
You sat on the couch legs splayed out in front of you and hands playing with the tassels of the pillows placed next to you.
God you loved these pillows. You actually remember the day you bought them.
Y’know back when you had money
“ y/n “ you watched as shoto shifted uncomfortably on the couch next to you “ my love what are you doing home “
He shook his head confused at the body placed comfortably next to his own “ your not supposed to be home for “ he looked down at his watch moving his suit jacket up his arm to create space and to make sure he was seeing the time correctly “ for 7 more hours “
you let out a short laugh “ you sound like you just got caught cheating sho “
his eyebrows crinkled together as he stared at you in disgust “ y/n I would never “
His hand moved to be placed on your thigh “my love is that what you think ? — if that’s why your here then I can assure you tha—I mean honestly if so I would never be stupid enough to disrespect you in our home— you could’ve went to my office at least I mea— “
“ I lost my job shoto “
The air shifted as the hand on your thigh suddenly felt colder than before “ I— I lost my job “
you took a deep breath shaking your head “ it’s a long story on why but i’ve been leaving the house — pretending really— to go to work “
You chuckled “ god i’m sucha bad person “ your small chuckle turned into a hearty laugh as you felt your body go slack “ A fucking horrible timekeeper too if I managed to forget my husband gets off before me on weekends “
“ do not say these things about yourself “
“ it’s not like it’s a lie “ your tear filled eyes coming up to look at his. ” right “
“ I will not stand for this y/n “
“ for what — having an unemployed s/o—i mean you already have one so not much to do about that “
you scoffed “ why don’t you want a housewife ? huh“ you smiled “ I can wear the skirts for you y’know with the aprons cook you dinner and maybe we can have kids y’know we can even get —“
“ enough “
your body shook your eyes widened facing the 6 ft male now towering over you “ your always joking about serious things and I — I don’t understand “ his eyebrows creasing in desperate need to understand you. Eyes darting around your face “ how “
his voice going deeper as he got angrier “ y/n you lost your job“ his eyes grew wide “ do you realize how serious this is “
“ wh— “ you shook your head letting out a short scoff “ of course I do —I mean sho i’m the one who qui—lost it “
“ no you clearly don’t “ he scoffed “ not if your sitting here making jokes in my face “
His mouth quirked up in disgust “ it’s almost insulting — disgusting really “
“ wh— sho—“ you felt as a tear fell from your eye “ baby what could be so disgusting huh ? so ‘ insulting ‘ about me choosing to leave huh “
his eyes softened “ because of your reason to leave “
“ my reason ? “
“ my love I know you — I know you didn’t get fired and I know you wouldn’t just leave you loved it there “
your head dropped as your fiddled with your fingers “ so that means something led you to make that life changing decision and it hurts me that you were forced to make it “
Your heart broke, he was right he was always right, for days at work youd been dealing with an overbearing co worker who would tell you to do everything they didn’t feel like doing and when you finally decided to say no to them
They went and told your boss. Who even though you’d been working there longer than your so called coworker still believed everything they were told.
That was the day that you sadly found out your job favored years over hard work.
Due to the other person being there longer you were trumped in telling your story. It was seen as not necessary because , someone who was there for so long would have no reason to lie on someone like you.
A newbie
“ someone made you quit this job “
“ sho no they— I decided “
You felt as the couch shifted from him kicking it. You thinking he was moving to grab his shoes except walking past them and unlocking the door instead.
“ baby where are you going — we need to talk about how we’re going to split the bills now that i— “
“ i’ll handle it “
“ shoto you can’t put everything on your dads card we’re not “ you let out a soft exhale “ we’re not children anymore “
“ i’ll pay for it all myself — and you can be my little housewife “ he scoffed as your expression grew sour “ it was so funny a moment ago right “
“ shoto i’m not gonna ask again where are you going “
“ where else “
your eyebrows came together in a furrow “ wh— “
“ my love you work for my company ? obviously who ever I put in charge “ he shrugged walking barefoot to his car unlocking the door “ isn’t doing a very good job if they fire their bosses s/o ? “
He got into the drivers seat as he turned the car on and reversed the car “ needs to learn respect no ? so i’ll just have them switch places with you“ he smiled softly “ i’ll see you when I get home “
His once furious eyes turning soft at your body hidden in pajamas “ go inside baby —it’s cold —go order us some takeout i’ll be back in a little ok “
“ sho “
“ just let me handle this —i love you and i’ll be right back my love—go “
You shook your head softly “ go y/n “
would you mind | childe
pairing | childe/reader
word count | 1.9k
genre | developing relationship, light smut, complicated feelings
If ever there was a force greater than the ancient winds of old Mondstadt, it was that harbinger from Snezhnaya. All it took was one afternoon during your shift for him to gain an interest in you—a fascination maybe.
The Fatui weren’t known for a good reputation in Liyue, and it only made you a bit uneasy knowing his high ranking—a cautious approach to a stranger in higher power. You couldn’t deny him and you didn’t dare show disrespect for subtle fear of consequence.
Rumors of people getting blackmailed—or worse— from getting tangled with the Fatui spread like wildfire in the harbor. Though they were baseless accusations, they didn’t stop from simmering in the back of your mind. The ‘what if’ was a damning point your mind made. Rumors didn’t come from nowhere around these parts.
Though Childe carried a sense of danger with him, there was something about him that kept your nerves manageable. The persona he carried was very impressionable, maybe even a little irritating at times. He was a persistent one.
“Mind if I join you for lunch?”
“Sir… I work here.” He knew this, too, yet he always arrived at the tea house with the same line. Still, you were quick to tend to him.
Childe hummed, eyes grinning with him as he happily plopped down at the table you swiftly offered him. “I’ll take that as an opportunity. The usual, please.”
Just treat him like a normal patron, was a personal mantra to get you through a shift at the tea house.
You were just lucky he was well-mannered. It made dealing with him easier. There was something about him that irked you, but at the end of the day he was polite and never forced a conversation if you were busy serving others.
“You don’t seem to talk much these days,” Childe notes as he swirls the remnants of his tea in its cup. It’s nearing closing time and you keep glancing over at the clock as he makes no move to leave. He sighs dramatically, “I miss our conversations.”
It’s playful, knowing full-well you hardly ever speak to avoid trouble from your boss. Maybe you would blame it on the exhaustion of a long shift, maybe put blame on lack of sleep. The comment, however, still makes you break seriousness and you erupt in an abrupt fit of laughter you quickly fight to quiet down. Luckily you’re closing by yourself tonight.
The sound is melodic, surprising Childe as a grin grows on his face. Though your back is turned as your shoulders shake from suppressed laughter, he can see the embarrassed red at the tips of your ears.
Oh, so you did find his company entertaining.
Your back straightens, and when you turn around you’re back to keeping him at a distance with an air of seriousness. Nothing more than work and patrons.
Childe leaves after wishing you a safe trip home and thanks for the wonderful service, as usual. The briskness of the cool night air keeps his mind intrigued once more with the mystery that surrounds you. Duty in Liyue was getting quite boring, and he decided to indulge in figuring you out.
“Would you mind if I joined you for a stroll?”
The familiar ginger hair strode up matching your pace. In the bustling crowd of the harbor, his presence sticks out like the cries of seagulls overhead. Maybe it’s your paranoia, but you swear people make an effort to move away from your little bubble he now infiltrated.
Still, he’s a harbinger.
So you nod quietly.
“I’m just running errands. It’s quite boring.” The way his eyes linger on yours for a second longer has you averting your gaze. The smile he wears… since when did it make your chest squeeze?
“I’m sure not as boring as some of the tasks I’m given,” he chuckles.
“Paperwork, I’m sure,” you guess idly. The vague smile he throws you has something about it that sends chills running down your spine.
“Something like that.”
The chuckle you give him is a little nervous. You aren’t sure what tasks he gets but you aren’t sure you’re willing to find out.
“Feel free to join me if you’d like, then.”
And for the rest of the day he patiently strolls around with you around the harbor through idle chatter. From dock to dock he follows, offering to pay the entire sum of anything on your errands list. The unlimited financial power he holds both terrifies and amazes you.
From then on, his company became frequent on your errand runs. Many shop keepers at first got anxious with a Fatui agent escorting you around, but his bright charisma won them over eventually. Business was business in the end, and his tendency to let the shopkeeper ‘keep the change’ won the favor of many.
You forgot when exactly you stopped trying to shake him off altogether. Perhaps you got too complacent since there was little you could do. Some days you even enjoyed his company. Childe was a good listener on days when you were a little more talkative, and he would always answer with utmost sincerity.
Yes, you looked forward to his little greeting and chance encounters on the harbor. Part of you hated the fact that you got so comfortable with him but the louder part of you was conflicted with bubbling feelings for the harbinger. For months on end you kept those feelings suppressed in the deepest parts of your heart.
And then the storm season hit.
“Mind some company?”
The water dripped down your face, soaked clothes clinging to your form as you stood under a tree near the outskirts of the harbor. Your eyes were wide, doe-like as you peered up at the familiar voice.
“Oh, sure.” Your eyes drift back to stare absentmindedly at the puddles rippling in the rain. “I was just waiting for the rain to let up a bit so I can make it back home.”
Childe hums, his usual charismatic smile bright on his face. It’s a little dangerous, and makes your heart race. Addicting.
“You know, at this rate you’ll get sick by the time you get home. I say we just make a run for it,” he offers with a devilish grin.
The frown you give him only further amuses him. “Run? Through the pouring rain?”
“Got any better ideas?”
You sigh, the sound of pattering rain filling the silence as you weigh your options.
“Fine. Okay.”
He grins, and you surrender to letting the harbinger have his way in the rain. Through the streets you both run, footsteps cutting through puddles and crowds of people with umbrellas. It’s thrilling and you can’t help but laugh at how fun running through the rain is. You both look like lovers that got caught in an unfortunate circumstance, and your chest wells up with feelings as you watch Childe pull you through crowds and street vendors.
The storm is raging outside, rain pattering on windows that rattle softly from the wind. It’s soaked you both to the bone by the time you arrive at your little flat. The room is quiet save for the rain that relentlessly knocks on the windows.
The quiet sound of panting fills the room as you both catch your breath from running through the rain, towels draped over your heads as you try to warm up.
“It’s pretty rough out there,” Childe notes, looking out the window. “Any longer out there and the wind might have picked you up before I did.”
It’s wordless—the way you join him by the window to look out at a grey city. You give a silent hum as you finish towel-drying your hair. The expression you wear is serious, aloof as you’re unreadable in your thoughts.
Childe is the first to speak, his voice soft and sincere—perhaps a little disappointed at your return to keeping him at arm’s length. “I’ll get going then. Glad you could make it home sa—“
It comes as a surprise—the sudden kiss you give him. Your small hands pull him down by his shirt collar to meet your lips in a rushed kiss. He’s quick to return the gesture, his lips curved in a smirk against yours.
You pull away breathless, face a little flushed. The frown you wear is adorable, a pout almost. “I hate that I like you.”
Childe is at your lips again, a breathy chuckle rumbling through his chest as he cages you against the wall. “And here I was thinking I’d never woo you, what with you not liking the Fatui and all.”
You cut him off with another kiss to hide the heat rising to your face. “Stop talking.”
He laughs wholeheartedly, his body against yours as you melt against his lips. It’s needy and rough. The sounds of your soft pants and little gasps are washed away by the rumbling thunder outside.
And through the storm, you spend the night. Childe feels like he’s won—gained one step closer to knowing more about you. He wanted to know all your faces, uncover all the mysteries and unknowns you held. And through the night, he learned of your sensitivities, the little noises you made, and the gestures that made your heart leap.
He had you around his finger. But perhaps the same could be said about him.
Early morning comes, the light barely coming through the window to illuminate the dark room. From under a mess of sheets you stir, body sore. Your fingers graze over the blooming markings on your chest and neck.
Beside you Childe sleeps soundly, his broad back dusted in light freckles and scratch marks. The way he hugs the pillow makes his sleeping face look almost kid-like in innocence. You’d never think he was a war machine for an archon.
You push the sinking feeling away, and brush some hair out of his eyes. The featherlight kiss you place atop his head stirs him from his sleep.
“Mornin’. Here I thought you would be gone by now,” he mumbles groggily. With his tousled hair and sleepy smile, you find it incredibly difficult to feel annoyed.
“I live here.”
He chuckles at this, grabbing you by the waist and pulling you against him. You scramble to pull the blanket over your bare body and though he finds it amusing, he doesn’t comment on your shyness. “Would you mind if I stayed the morning, then? The rain isn’t letting up anytime soon.”
“That sounds like an awfully obvious lie,” you retort.
It’s hard to ignore the hardness that presses against your abdomen. The lack of shame on his content face irks you. Still, you don’t deny the way your body heats up once more.
“Your face is just so cute when you’re begging,” Childe teases, pressing kisses up your neck.
“Childe, sto—haah.”
In a swift motion, he has you straddling him. You can feel his hardness press against your ass, sending a shudder of anticipation through your body. The ache in your thighs tries to protest against the lust-driven haze clouding your judgement.
Childe’s hands are already massaging the soft flesh at your hips, hands waiting for permission. “What do you say, sweetheart? Another round if you can keep up?”
“Y–You have duties to tend to, don’t you?” you bring up meekly, eyes shut tight as he bites a sweet spot on your neck that hitches your breath. Slowly, your mind is losing itself, drunk on his attention again.
With a smirk against your skin, he answers simply, “They won’t mind my whereabouts in this weather.”
Old Ghosts 3
Tumblr media
Warnings: This is a dark fic. Please do not read if you’re under 18, or are uncomfortable with dark characters, noncon, kidnapping, alchol mention, drug mention, death threats, asshole characters.
The rest of the weekend went smoothly, taking care of chores, getting ready for the coming week. You usually planned out all your class’s activities so you’d be organized ahead of time. Monday came too soon, not yet ready to face the new week. Following your routine, you checked the mailbox before heading to school.
It seemed like all coupons and junk mail until you reached back into the far corner of the box. Your hand fell on a crumpled piece of paper. Curious you pulled it out and flattened it best you could.
GO NOW! RUN!
STEVE IS GOING TO HURT YOU!!
Peggy Rogers
The first note could be ignored or dismissed for numerous reasons, but a second note struck a chord with you.
Immediately your brain began to rationalize the situation; Peggy was dead, someone was sending you notes, trying to scare you away from Steve, but who? Steve’s friends all had your number, if there was something they wanted to tell you about him, they could just call or text. Was there someone who was interested in Steve and was trying to get you to back off? That seemed most likely, but how would they know about Peggy, and why would they disrespect someone’s memory like that? You were frustrated, this story wasn’t making sense, there had to be something you were missing.
You had no choice but to put the mail in your car and drive to work, making a mental note to check the box at night instead of in the morning. It had never mattered before, but getting these notes distracted you from your job all day; you were a million miles away, lost in your own head.
Steve texted at lunch to check in and confirm your plans that night with his friends. You rarely went out on Mondays but it was just dinner. You were glad you had it planned, maybe you could find an opportunity to talk to one of Steve's friends about what these notes meant.
The rest of the day passed quickly, time seemed to fly after lunch. You stopped at home to shower and change, taking the opportunity to compare the two notes. Getting the first from the drawer by your bed, you held the two notes side by side.
Both notes were written on torn notebook paper, each in the same blue pen in the same cursive lettering. Both signatures matched. Sliding the two notes closer together, you saw that they lined up where the paper was torn, meaning both of these notes were written on the same piece of paper that had been torn in half. What the hell did it mean?
You pulled out your phone and went to your camera roll, zeroing in on the pictures you had snapped of the photos of Steve and Peggy. There was nothing unusual about them at all, Steve looked happy and in love, so did Peggy. They were both smiling, holding hands in the second photo, there was nothing amiss that you could see.
So who were these notes from? What did they mean? These thoughts plagued you all through the shower and the drive to the restaurant.
“Hello gorgeous, it’s so good to see you,” Steve opened your door for you when you parked and pulled you into a kiss. You really had missed him.
“I missed you baby, it was a long Monday,” you confessed to him.
“Well let’s see if we can make it a better one with some dinner and good company.” Steve pressed a kiss to your temple before opening the door to the restaurant for you.
You could see Bucky, Sam, and Wanda, Natasha was standing and waving when she saw you come in. You really liked Steve’s friends, and were more than appreciative that they liked you too. You had become fairly close over the last few months.
“There you are!” Natasha pulled you into a hug before you sat down across from her with Steve. “Steve’s been taking up too much of your time, we’ve hardly seen you!”
You laughed, happy to see her too.
“I’m not sure I’d blame just Steve, those kids take a lot more out of me than I’d like to admit,” you laughed.
“Don’t let ‘em run you into the ground,” Bucky raised his glass to you.
“I’ll try my best, but no promises Bucky.” You were glad that all of you were able to get together.
Seeing Wanda get up, you saw your chance and excused yourself to the restroom with her. Not exactly sure where to start, you knew you had to try.
“Hey, Wanda.” You approached her at the sink. “I um, I wanted to ask you about something.” You felt like a teenager with gossip and you hated it.
“Anything, what’s going on?” She asked, interested.
“I was just… I guess I was wondering about Peggy.” The room was quiet, neither of you sure of your words.
“Peggy was a really kind person, a lot like you. I think you would have really liked her.” Wanda’s eyes were sad.
“I’m sure I would have, I’m so sorry about the loss.” You didn’t know how to continue. “I guess I was also wondering if there was like… anyone at work who hangs around Steve a lot?”
“You’re not the jealous type, what’s going on?” Wanda asked gently. It was so easy to talk to her.
“I’ve been having some weird things happen lately, I just, I’m not sure.” It wasn’t enough for Wanda, she looked concerned.
“Are you and Steve okay?” She asked.
“Oh yeah, definitely, this isn’t really about him.”
“Well, you just asked about his late wife, and if there was anyone hanging around him at work, it kind of seems like it’s about him.” Wanda wasn’t going to drop it.
“Okay.” You figured you could tell her most of the truth, especially since it was really eating at you. “I’ve been getting weird notes in my mailbox.”
“Weird how? Is there an address?” She asked.
“That’s the thing, there’s no address, they’re hand delivered, no stamp or anything.” You were glad you could finally tell someone else.
“Well what do they say?” Wanda was interested now.
“They… they tell me Steve is dangerous. And that I need to run.” You mumbled the last part.
“Wait, what, Steve?” She was even more confused than before.
“That’s what I’m saying! They’re weird notes telling me to stay away from Steve! He has to have an admirer or something, I have no idea what’s going on.” At least Wanda seemed as confused as you were, it was something that made no sense to her either.
“They just show up in your mailbox? And you have no idea who sent them?” Wanda seemed horrified.
“Um, yeah. I don’t know.” You couldn’t bring yourself to tell her that they were signed “Peggy Rogers”, that would worry her even more. Then she’d definitely tell Steve.
“You should tell someone, that’s really creepy!” Wanda put her hand on your shoulder, looking protective of you.
“I just told you! Besides, who am I supposed to tell?”
“Wait a minute, what does this have to do with Peggy?” You had hoped Wanda had forgotten you mentioned her.
“I guess it doesn’t…” you trailed off but Wanda fixed you with a glare. “Okay! They were… they were both signed Peggy Rogers.” You finally relented, knowing how stupid those words were coming out of your mouth.
“Excuse me?” Wanda looked aghast.
“I didn’t want to tell you, it’s extra weird I know. But who would do that? Who would use a dead woman’s name to try to scare me off of Steve? And his late wife, who would be that disrespectful?” You were kind of glad to have gotten that off your shoulders, glad someone else was as confused as you were.
“You need to tell Steve,” Wanda told you.
“I know I do.” You sighed and put your face in your hands. “It’s just such a sensitive topic, and I don’t want to hurt his feelings. Can we just sit on this for a minute and figure out what to do?” You wanted to trust Wanda, you hoped she could keep a secret.
Wanda nodded her head slowly, still looking worried.
“Sure, we can wait a while, try to figure out who’s leaving you creepy notes. But you’re going to have to tell him eventually.” She looked torn.
“I promise I will, I just don’t want to hurt him with this, you know? I want to figure out who it is.” You hoped this would be a good enough answer for her.
“I get it, you could be right,” Wanda relented, “but if you get more you should tell him, okay?”
You nodded your head in agreement and breathed a sigh of relief. Drying your hands, you left the restroom to rejoin the group.
Steve was livid. How could this have happened? How in god's name had this been allowed out? Everything he did for her, and here she was going to bring his whole life crashing down around him. Steve was a patient man, he was kind, caring, he would do anything for the people he loved, and she just didn’t seem to get that. Instead of rewarding his kindness and care with love, she was trying to sabotage him, and Steve was just not going to have that.
Feeling an anger he hadn’t felt in years, Steve approached the heavy wood door in the basement. Turning the key and pushing it open, Steve’s anger radiated into the small room before he could enter. Fixing her with a stone cold glare, Steve stepped into the room and locked the door behind him.
“A little birdie told me that you’ve been writing notes.”
Zoo Day is Today
Cartoon Beetlejuice x Reader
Word Count : 11,275
Your first field trip after starting work as a teacher for Miss Shannon's School For Girls. A simple trip to the zoo. You even have a student's uncle there to help you chaperone. Everything was nice and planned out, surely nothing could go wrong.
--=--=--
The morning sun steadily rose but had not yet chased off the nipping chill of the night. A shiver ran down your spine and you pulled your jacket tighter over your chest. You only brought a light coat for the day. Hopefully, if you focused on your work, the chilly bite could be easier to tolerate.
You tapped your pen against the edge of the clipboard. The papers listed off groups, schedules, notes on animals, and a map. On the page of groups, you circled the list of students assigned to you. Seven girls of which you knew only two.
You had been teaching at Miss Shannon's School for a month, but you memorized the names of the two most infamous students. Claire Brewster and Betty Juice. And lucky you, the school assigned both girls to your group. How wonderful. You prayed this field trip wouldn't end up a disaster.
The girls mingled in front of the main building, eager to get onto the buses. Once you had glossed over the list, you peered over the assemblage of students. Other teachers gathered their students to line up for the bus, and you needed to do the same.
There was no sign of Claire or Betty, so you shifted your search to the others in your group. You called out the names listed as you walked the perimeter of the cluster of girls, and one by one you gathered them.
Bertha, check. Prudence, check. Mindy, Gwen, check and check.
You accounted for over half your group and given them red bands that just left three more students. Betty and Claire were still nowhere to be seen, making a Lydia Deetz the next student for you to find.
The short redheaded girl with glasses, Bertha? Or was it Prudence? Regardless, the shorter girl pointed out a dark-haired student with hair styled in a bob cut. You thanked her and left to speak with the next student.
The girl stood off to the side next to a man that you noted bore a striking resemblance to Betty. The man's wardrobe gave a sharp contrast to the prim and proper appearances the headmistress cultivated for the school. He wore a vibrant Hawaiian shirt in magenta patterned with neon green bones. Clashing with that were his shorts striped vertically in black and white bars. Rather unusual, but to each their own.
You focused back on gathering your group and get their attention with a small cough. The two stopped their conversation and turned to you, the girl giving you a pleasant smile when she did.
"Good morning, teacher."
"Good morning, ah..." You trailed off and checked your clipboard. "Lydia. How are you?"
"Good! I can't wait to get to the zoo!"
The man chimed in saying, "Kid's been excited to go all morning. 't's all she's been talking about for the last few days."
"Uncle BJ!"
The girl huffed while the man snickered with a crooked smirk. You bit your lip and fought to keep your shoulders from bouncing from your own laugh. You cleared your throat and ignored the slight pain in your cheeks from resisting a smile.
"So then, Mr...?"
"Beetleman."
"Mr. Beetleman," you said with a nod, "Will you be helping chaperone the field trip?"
"Yep!"
"Alright. Then since Lydia is in my group, you'll be with me as well." You helped Lydia get the red band on her wrist. Just two more students. "Lydia, are you by chance close to Betty Juice? You wouldn't know where she might be, would you?"
Mr. Beetleman opened his mouth only for Lydia to cut in, saying, "She's out sick!"
You frown and nod, jotting a note on the paper. "That's unfortunate." While you didn't like the idea of a student missing out on a field trip, you couldn't help the relief that washed over you. No Betty, that only left—
"Ugh! Like, what do you mean I'm stuck with Lydia and her weird friends?"
Claire Brewster.
You took in a deep breath and let it out as a slight hiss. Before you headed over to Claire, you pointed Lydia and her uncle over to the rest of your group. They made their way to join the others and you steel yourself to talk to the irritated blonde. When Claire noticed your approach, she wore a pout on her face.
"Teacher! You can't seriously expect me to be in a group with Lydia and her weird friends. Let me switch with someone else!"
As if you hadn't asked the same thing once you saw the roster for your group.
"I'm sorry, Claire. The groups have already been assigned. Miss Shannon doesn't want there to be any switching around. Now here's your band and if you could come over with the rest of the group, we can—"
"Red? Ugh! This day just keeps getting worse! Red doesn't go with my bow, or eyes, or anything! Why can't it be pink?"
"Claire, it's just a band to keep things organized. No one is going to notice or even care, I promise. Please, come over here with the rest of the group so we can get things going."
"Fine."
You hummed on your walk back, happy to have rounded up everyone. With a quick go through attendance, you marked off all the students present. Once done, you asked Mr. Beetleman to watch the girls while you turned in the attendance sheet to the headmistress. You returned and smiled at your group. "Alright, does everyone have everything they need? Lunches, spending money?"
Most of the girls nodded, while a few checked through their bags to make sure they did. After a minute, everyone had everything in order. You nodded and flipped through your clipboard.
"Alright, we'll board the buses soon. Mr. Beetleman since you'll be helping me chaperone—"
"Oh great. I'm stuck with Lydia and her grody relative."
"Claire!" You jerked your head to her with a deep frown. "That is highly disrespectful! Apologize this instant!"
Claire huffed and gestured to the man. "But he is! Just look at him!"
You narrow your eyes at the girl, then glance to Mr. Beetleman. His appearance was definitely abnormal, with eyes a tad more sunken and yellowed than what seemed healthy. Mr. Beetleman flashed you a smile where his slight overbite showed off crooked teeth. He may be a tad odd, but that was no reason to insult the man. You gave him an apologetic smile before turning back to Claire.
"Claire. Apologize to Mr. Beetleman right now or I'm going to insist that you sit out the field trip."
You tapped your foot, waiting. She groaned, rolling her eyes before she spat out a short, insincere apology. You shook your head and rubbed at your already aching temple. This was going to be a long day.
Once given the go ahead, the teachers and chaperones ushered their groups on to the buses. They assigned your group to the last of the three, and you were the last to board. The other two teachers on board sat in the back while the students scattered across the rows, clustering in the middle of the bus.
You followed your students and watched them pick their seats. Claire sat with girls from the other group. Most of the others took their seats, intermingling as well. You had shuffled into one of the front benches and noticed Lydia and her uncle had sat behind you with one empty one open as a buffer.
You scanned over the girls, all chatting and abuzz with excitement, as the bus driver pulled out from the school grounds. Before you turned back to face forward, you made brief eye contact with Mr. Beetleman. Claire's remark replayed in your head and you glanced away, frowning. That comment didn't sit right with you. You cleared your throat to get his attention and offer another apologetic smile.
"I'm sorry for earlier. Claire is... not always the best with social skills."
He shrugged with a lopsided smile. "No skin off my nose."
You gave a slight nod and glanced over to the blonde gabbing with the other students. So young and full of potential. If only she'd apply it to things other than her vanity. You shook your head and looked back to Mr. Beetleman, who had his hand over his nose.
"Are you alright?"
"Uncle BJ is fine!" Lydia said. "He just has some allergies that have been acting up. That's all."
"What the kid said." he nasally said while holding his nose.
"Oh no, do you need an antihistamine or anything? I could break one in half so you don't get too drowsy."
"Nah, I'll be fine. Thanks though, teach."
He let go of his face and gave grinned, showing you there was nothing to worry about. You covered your mouth to hide your own growing smile.
"If you're sure. But don't be afraid to ask if your allergies get worse. I have a travel first aid kit with me."
For the rest of the drive, you triple checked the schedules and your group's tour route. The first field trip you'd be going on as a teacher for the school. A simple trip to the zoo. You wanted it to go as smooth as possible.
You could still hardly believe you landed this job. It's rare for a position to open, but the last teacher in your spot left with little notice. He said he had gotten too stressed to teach anymore. But you had heard through the school gossip that it was more likely an excuse to get away from a certain student.
You shook off those thoughts. It's best not to dwell on rumors. You needed to focus on doing the best job you could.
The bus stopped at the front entrance. Outside the window, the students from the other buses waited in rows to get into the zoo. The teachers from the back stood up once the bus stopped and lead their students out. Once it was just you and your group, you got up from your seat to do the same.
You lined up your students at the end and waited for Miss Shannon to take care of the admissions. Groups were let in one at a time, and you quadruple checked the tour plan as you waited. Finally, it was your turn to go inside.
"Alrighty girls. The first stop is the penguins."
The girls' anticipation nearly hit its breaking point. They followed you like a flock of ducklings as you navigated the park. Between the map the school provided, and the boards set up for visitors, you found your way to the Arctic section. Once in that area, however was when it got a little more tricky. You mixed up the paths and ended up taking a detour by the puffins and walruses.
After those brief stops, you lead the students to the correct enclosure. The girls ran up to the divider, noses pressed to the glass, and watched the Antarctic birds. The girls moved around to watch different penguins, looking under the water level to see the ones swimming, while the ones on land preened each other. Most the students gushed over the cute birds, and you noticed Lydia off to the side bobbing along with a penguin whose attention she caught.
You hung back and smiled at the girls. It was adorable to see the students so ecstatic. Even Claire cooed at the penguins, though you heard her comment on how the penguins should totally wear cute pink dresses rather than tuxedos.
You shook your head with a roll of your eyes.
You flipped through your papers looking for the lecture notes for the penguins and notice Mr. Beetleman had taken a few steps back. His niece sprinted from one end of the glass to the other, while the penguin on the other side followed her movements. She also interspersed her laps with snapshots of the birds.
"Looks like your niece is enjoying herself."
Mr. Beetleman turned his attention towards you. He huffed a small laugh and showed off a crooked but kind half smile. "Yeah, kid's got a soft spot for animals, no matter how big, or scary, or smelly."
Your lips twitched up in a small smile.
"What about yourself, Mr. Beetleman? Any animals that you have a soft spot for?"
"I like to think of myself as quite the connoisseur of bugs. Especially beetles."
"Is that so?" You asked with a laugh. His faux posh accent caught you off guard. You coughed into your hand and did your best to ignore the pain in your cheeks from biting back a smile. "Well, you're in luck. We go through the insectarium before we break for lunch. They have a large exhibit of bugs from all over the globe."
Most of the students voiced their disgust with groans.
"Like, we have to go see gross bugs before lunch?"
You closed your eyes and took in a breath before you bothered to turn to Claire. You forced a pleasant smile and let the air out through your nose in a short huff. "Yes. We're going through the insectarium later—"
The girls groaned and made more disgusted sounds.
"—I know not everyone likes bugs, but they are an important part of nature and we're going to be learning about them."
Most of the students made disgusted faces. Mr. Beetleman and his niece looked to be the only ones interested in the exhibit. You hummed and flipped over your papers to get back on track. Might as well start the lesson part of the tour, since everyone had their attention on you.
You read off the prepared notes, and prompted the students with questions. The short bookish girl answered most of the questions, though you encouraged the other girls to answer when they could.
Once wrapped up with the penguins, you—with the aid of Mr. Beetleman—ushered the students to the next animal on the schedule. Next up was the polar bears, which were technically Arctic and not Antarctic, but hey the zoo only had so much room available.
You arrived at the polar bears' enclosure to find them lazing. Two sat on the land in large piles of snow, while the third floated in the water. Like before, you hung back to let the students watch, but they were far less engaged this time.
Mr. Beetleman stepped back once more to let his niece watch and get photos from all angles of the bears. You hunted for the next lesson in your notes but spied Mr. Beetleman step back a tad more than last time. You paid it little mind until he said, "With all this excitement it's almost un-bear-able," under his breath.
You sputtered a laugh and raised a hand to your mouth to hold back more. Despite your attempt, however, you caught his ear. He looked to you with a half smile showing off crooked teeth.
"You like that one? Maybe you and me aren't as much of polar opposites as I thought! Seems like all these arctic animals are helping break the ice!"
You bit your lip and pressed your knuckle to your mouth, but you couldn't stop your shoulders from bouncing as you snickered. You didn't want to disturb the other visitors, but he made that difficult with his goofy puns and cute face.
You took in a breath to let out gently, only for it to get chopped up from more laughter. There were lessons to be taught. You needed to get yourself under control. Poised and proper, you could do this. You coughed and cleared your throat as quietly as possible.
You gave your fellow chaperone a playful glare before you gathered the girls to a central spot for the lesson. One or two of the students yawned as you read off the notes. You gestured to the bears as you read another factoid.
"Polar bears are the largest carnivo—what on earth?"
Your train of thought crashed when you looked out at the bears. The two on land stood on their hind legs and dived into the water. All three met in the deepest part of the pool and swam in a circle with an eerily human synchrony.
You couldn't bring yourself to look away, afraid it would break the spell. But you had to know if anyone else saw that too. You pried away and found your students and many other visitors had their eyes glued to the bears. Good to know others took notice of the bears' swimming skills.
"Wow! I never knew they could swim like that!" said a taller brunette from your group.
You watched the bears again. They swam in circles, each bear matching the strokes of the others; left, then right, spin, then dive. You were at a loss for words. To witness such a spontaneous act from them, and done so well, it was as if it were magic.
The routine lasted a minute, ending with the bears looking around, confused. Whatever showboating spirit overtook them, it had left. Even they didn't know what had possessed them to do that.
You blinked a few times and gathered your thoughts. The lesson continued, but the girls and you glanced at the bears several times throughout the rest. The polar bears, however, returned to lazing around their enclosure. When you finished the lesson, you announced the next stop.
"Okay, next stop is the seals!"
On the walk over, the students chattered among themselves, still baffled by the polar bears' routine. Mr. Beetleman laughed with his niece, though you couldn't hear the topic. He caught you looking back, and you whipped forward to focus on leading the way.
Much like the last few times, the girls rushed to the glass to watch while you and Mr. Beetleman stayed back. You kept your eyes forward, watching over both the students and the seals. Despite your focus, you still noticed Mr. Beetleman taking a few side steps in your direction.
"I see this one gets the seal of approval from the kids."
You press your lips tight, redirecting your laugh as more stuttered exhales. With a smile growing on your face, you turned to get a better look at the man and find him sporting a grin of his own.
You cleared your throat and in the most deadpan tone you could muster, you said, "Mr. Beetleman, that has got to be the seal-iest thing I've ever heard."
He blinked and his features sank a bit, only for his grin to grow back even stronger. "Animal humor, you know I love it!"
You let out a giggle and shake your head. "So how are you and your niece enjoying the trip so far, Mr. Beetleman?"
"Lydia's loving it, and I can't complain much. But You don't have to keep bein' so formal. Ya can just call me BJ."
"BJ? Hmm, may I ask what it's short for?"
He stiffened at your question before he reached up to scratch the back of his neck. "Short for? Yeah, it's uh—"
"Uncle Ben!" You and Mr. Beetleman turned to his niece Lydia, waving him over. She pointed to one seal flopping around on the land part of its enclosure. "Isn't it so cute?"
He walked over to Lydia. She took photos, some with her uncle posing in them. You chuckled to yourself and gave the girls one more minute before the next lesson.
Afterwards you moved on to the next animal in the arctic section, followed by another, and another. Soon your group made it through the entire section and moved on to the next. From the Arctic to South America, followed by Europe, then Africa.
In between your lessons as the students gawked and cooed at the various animals, you laughed more and more at Mr. Beetleman—no, BJ's jokes. You even got him to laugh at a few of your own jokes. There was a childish sense of pride and glee that swelled in you any time you got him to laugh.
"You know, teach, seeing all these lions is giving me the urge to sing." BJ said as the kids watched the large cats.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, breaking out into 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' is just a whim away. A whim away. A whim away."
You bit your knuckle and shook your head at him as you fought back tears and laughter.
"Trust me, teach, I ain't lion. It's a real paw-blem."
You couldn't hold back your fit of laughter anymore and snorted louder than you'd like. A few of the girls looked back at you and BJ, and you hid your burning face behind your clipboard. You take a few quick breaths to calm yourself, fighting the smile on your lips as you did. Once calm again, you shoot the man a playful glare.
"You are the worst, have you no since of pride?"
He beamed at you and you call the girls over to get the lesson started before he can crack more jokes. As you went through the last lesson of the African section, you calmed more, but your smile stayed plastered on your face. Once the lesson wrapped up and you asked the last of the questions, you announce the next destination.
"Time to head to the insectarium."
Most of the girls groan and make disgusted protests. You let out a sigh and open your mouth to say something, but BJ spoke up first.
"You heard your teacher, kids. Gotta get going!"
BJ ushered the kids along to get them moving, and you knitted your brows in a mix of amusement and bewilderment. BJ had helped keep the students together and moving along, sure, but that was the first time he did so with any sense of diligence. The man must really like bugs.
You rolled your eyes with a smile and lead the group. With the map on your clipboard you follow the asphalt path to the insectarium, weaving around the growing crowds as you made your way there. Unlike the other animal enclosures, the insectarium was a building all to itself. A man exited the building, towing two young boys, and blew passed you. You huffed and held open the door as BJ ushered in the group of less than enthused girls.
The warm, muggy air hit you as you followed the girls inside the building. Countless displays of bugs filled the room, lining the bright orange walls and placed in various rows. Signs throughout the room showed pictures of spiders, praying mantises, centipedes, and scorpions, as well as butterflies, dragonflies, and beetles. While the floor was spacious and open, the displays formed a few nooks and crannies that obscured parts.
The students stayed clustered around you, not that eager to venture a glance at the displays. Most of them, anyway. Lydia grabbed her uncle's hand and pulled him away to a section full of spiders. Two girls you noticed hung around Lydia, the tall brunette and short redhead, also mustered up the courage to break off and peruse the exhibits as well.
The remaining three followed you and didn't dare approach any of the glass displays. You hummed and scanned the room. Perhaps if you showed them the tamer and prettier looking insects, the students would be more engaged. You gestured to them and guided them through the displays.
Brightly colored butterflies and gem-like dragonflies darted in their large cases off to the side, away from the more creepy crawly bugs. The girls peered around you and took a few steps over to see the enchanting patterns on some of the butterflies' wings.
Except for Claire.
"Teacher! I don't want to be here. Like, it's just a bunch of gross bugs."
"Bugs are very important, Claire. Here, do you like flowers?"
"Well duh. Flowers are pretty and they smell nice."
"Well, flowers need to be pollinated in order for there to be more flowers. And do you know how flowers get pollinated?"
"No."
"Bugs. Bees, and butterflies, and even some beetles. They go from flower to flower and get pollen all over. Which helps the flowers make more flowers. Bugs are an essential part of a lot of other animals' diets. If there weren't any bugs a lot of animals would go hungry."
"Gross, who would want to eat bugs!"
"Birds, lizards, fish. Heck, even people sometimes."
"Ew! Nasty! I would never eat a bug. Like, why eat that when I could have something fancy like lobster?"
You bit your lip and held back a laugh. This poor, naïve child. You debated on whether you should tell her. Before you decided, Claire huffed and marched over to watch at the butterflies with the others. It was probably best to keep quiet on the matter, but boy was that child in for a rude wake up call.
You sigh and left to check on the others. The brunette and redhead—Prudence and Bertha, or was it Bertha and Prudence? Which ever way it was, the pair watched an orchid mantis climb flower stocks. The shorter one in glasses smiled at you and read out loud the plaques for the orchid mantis. You asked them a few things on the insect, and the brunette chimed in with some answers. You praised the two and smiled.
After jotting notes, you scanned the room for Lydia and BJ, only to frown when you saw no trace of them. You tapped your pen against the clipboard and scanned the room again. Claire was still with Mindy and Gwen at the butterflies. Bertha and Prudence were right next to you. So where were Lydia and BJ?
You walked through the rows of exhibits searching for Lydia, but there wasn't any sign of her. Prickles of fear crawled up your spine, and you hurried your pace. You tapped your pen faster against your board to let out your building anxiety, but it never spent enough energy. Once you looped back to Prudence and Bertha, you asked them if they had seen Lydia and her uncle.
The redhead—Prudence—pointed out where she last saw Lydia. You thanked her and weaved your way through the exhibits as fast as you could without running. The displays jutted out to form a nook tucked away from the rest of the floor. At one display, with eyes glued to the tarantula in the case, was your missing student. You put a hand to your chest and let out a relieved sigh. The sound caught the dark-haired girl's attention, and she waved you over to watch with her.
"Teacher look! Isn't she pretty!"
You crouched to look at the fuzzy arachnid meandering across the gravel floor of its enclosure. Dark brown hairs covered its body save for the legs. Stripes ran down its legs in long thin bars of the same dark brown and contrasted with ones in ivory. You looked at the name for the specimen and read it.
"The Costa Rican zebra tarantula, or striped-knee tarantula. I see where your uncle gets his fashion advice." You said. It got a laugh out of her, which got you chuckling as well. After a quick sweep of the area you realize BJ wasn't there. Your lips sank into a slight frown as you hummed in thought. "Speaking of, where is he?"
"Oh! Um. Uncle BJ said he had to go to the little boy's room."
A thunderous clatter cut through the air, followed by shattering glass and screams. A wave of icy fear crashed over you. You told Lydia to stay put as you bolted around the corner to see what happened.
Your eyes grew to saucers. Toppled displays, shattered cases, and an angry swarm of bugs filled the room. Those with wings whizzed by, while others spread out from the crash sites as an infestation.
Your students and the other patrons scrambled to get any distance possible from the bugs. You bit your lip. What do you do? What can you do? Keeping the girls safe was your utmost responsibility. You tightened your grip on the clipboard charge to the group, swatting at any bugs daring to cross you.
"Girls! Outside!"
You darted straight for the front door and gave the group a sharp look. The students wore various nervous expressions, not wanting to go through the swarm of bugs to reach the door.
"NOW!"
Bertha and Prudence were the first of your girls to budge. They ran out, followed by the other patrons, then the last of your group. You ran out hot on their heels and got your girls grouped together. You counted heads—Bertha, Prudence, Claire, Gwen, Mindy. Five. Where?
Your heart sank.
"Stay out here. Stay away from the doors, get back and wait for me or a Zookeeper."
You swallowed the lump in your throat and pivoted. You rushed back in and find the swarm had spread to fill the now empty room. Among the infestation you could see bright warning coloration. Whether the colors of true venomous insects or mimics, you didn't want to hang around and find out. You held up your clipboard and took in a few steadying breaths.
"Lydia! Where are you?"
"Over here!"
You rushed over to the voice, avoiding as many bugs as possible. Despite that, they grazed your exposed skin and buzzed passed your ear. One of them even bumped up against your lip. You pushed your shivers down, dead set on getting your student out of there.
You looped around the displays to find the path of least resistance, only to stop dead in your tracks when you get to Lydia. Wasps, several of them, all buzzing between you and Lydia. You tapped your nails against the clipboard as your mind raced to work out what to do.
You bit down on the clipboard, hard enough to hold it, and stripped off your jacket. You shuffled things, so the board was under your arm and held the jacket in both your hands.
"Lydia. I'm going to count to three, and you're going to run over to me. Okay? Run as fast as you can."
She nodded, and you counted.
"One."
"Two."
"Three!"
Lydia bolted over to you, getting the wasp's attention. You threw your coat over her and scooped her into your arms. Once you had a hold of her, you made a mad dash to the front door, as angry buzzing chased you. You reached out for the handle, yanking it as hard as you could, only for it to stay closed. You held Lydia tighter and pulled again. Still nothing.
"Shit. Why would they lock the fucking door!" A sharp stabbing pain shot through your calf, and you buckled some from the pain. "Shit!"
"Teacher? Is—"
"Shi—um sorry. It's okay. Just got to find another way out."
You turned to search for the emergency exit and winced when you moved your stung leg. The buzz of insect wings beat against your ears, and you swore it was getting worse. You wanted to cover your ears, but that wasn't an option while you held Lydia.
"Ribbit."
You flinched and found a fairly large frog munching away on what remained of a wasp. The chihuahua sized frog sat staring up at you for a moment with bright yellow eyes. Its pattern and coloration reminded you of a poison dart frog, but no species of them grew bigger than a few inches at most.
Once the monochrome striped frog ate the last of the wasp, it hopped away on long legs ending with bright red toes. Its tongue lashed out and snatched more bugs, devouring them in seconds and reducing the swarm at an impressive rate.
As the frog thinned out the bug population, you carried Lydia towards the emergency exit on the far side of the building. A long green blur shot out in front of you, and you flinched back with a squeak. You glanced to where the blur came from to find the frog retracting its striped green tongue with a freshly caught beetle.
"Teacher? What's going on?"
"It's alright, this frog just startled me."
"A frog?" Lydia asked, squirming in your arms. She pulled down your coat to look and when they made eye contact, the frog croaked at her too.
"He must be in froggy heaven with all these bugs out. But we still need to get out to the others. And wait, where's your uncle? Oh no. Is he still in here too?"
"I'm sure uncle BJ is fine! He's probably just... getting something to eat after he went to the restroom."
You hummed, still worried something could have happened, but you still needed to get Lydia and yourself out. The frog croaked again before it hopped away to catch more lunch. You huffed with a small smile and continued to the exit.
Once outside with the door shut behind you, you set Lydia down and walked her to the rest of the group. The girls clamored around you as you approached, asking to know what happened. When your responses didn't give them the answers they wanted, some students switched to bombarding Lydia with questions.
"Girls, please. I'm not sure what all caused the bugs to get out. I'm sure the zookeepers can handle it from here."
"Teacher, was it scary to go back in there?"
You offered a half smile and gave the students a few answers, hoping they'd more readily follow instructions with a sated curiosity. Once they asked their questions, you asked one of your own, wanting to know what happened while you were getting Lydia.
Apparently one zookeeper, thinking everyone had cleared out the building, locked the front door before running off to get help. You pressed your lips tight when you heard that. On one hand, you understood the keeper's actions, but on the other they should have poked their head in to at least check!
"Hey teach, everything alright?"
You whipped around to find BJ sporting a sheepish grin.
"Mr. Beetleman! Oh, thank goodness you're okay. Yes, everything is alright. Everyone is here." You said and heaved out a sigh. You glanced back to the girls. "Alright, let's all sit down and make sure no one else got bit or stung."
You guided the students over to benches on the side and had them sit. One by one you examined them, checking arms, legs, faces and necks. Once you checked over every student, you breathed a sigh of relief. No one had gotten bitten by any of the bugs. You took a seat and tended to your sting when there was a yelp from one student.
"Like, ew! Something bit me!"
You got up to look over Claire again and found a mosquito on her upper arm. You pinched it between your fingers and dusted it off her.
"Ew! Gross!"
"Well, it's gone now. You can wash off your arm before we break for lunch."
Claire pouted, and you did your best not to show the flicker of annoyance on your face. She's just a child and the whole bug escape had everyone on edge. You blew out a small breath and went back to tending to your minor injury.
Once washed off and slapped with a bandage, you got up and stretched your leg. It still hurt, but was tolerable to wait for the painkillers to take effect.
The staff returned shortly after and pushed everyone further back. You asked if they needed you to stay and give any testimony, but the gruff staff member just told you to leave the area. Rude.
You huffed at him and pivoted to march away, ushering the girls away. If he needed nothing from you, then so be it. The girls needed to get to lunch, anyway. As you guided the girls away, the man let out a shout. You looked over your shoulder to see him swatting at the air, likely being honed in on by a few mosquitoes. You huffed once more and looked forward. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed BJ chuckling to himself with a few glances back of his own.
The school organized for everyone to meet for lunch in the same picnic spot. When you arrived, you got the kids to wash up before heading to the tables for lunch. The group scattered and mingled with the other groups already dining. You smiled only for it to fall as you looked for a seat. The students took up most of the tables, with the other teachers taking up one of their own. And the teachers' table was so crowded, asking to sit there would just be awkward. You'd only been teaching at the school for a month and had yet to make friends with any of the other teachers. Sure, you were professional and polite, but that didn't mean you were much more than acquaintances.
An empty table off to the side sat a tad ways away from the other tables. You hummed to yourself and walked over to claim it. As you mindlessly nibbled away at your meal, you watched over the other tables to make sure the girls didn't get too rowdy.
"Excuse me teacher, may we sit with you?"
You snapped out of your trance and found Lydia smiling at you and still wearing your jacket. She held her uncle's hand and pulled him closer to the table. You blinked and swallowed your bite of food with a nod.
"Oh, uh, sure. I don't mind."
She grinned and sat diagonally to you, leaving her uncle to sit directly across from you. Lydia set her lunch box on the table and took off your jacket. She haphazardly folded it and leaned over the table to hand it back to you.
"Thank you for saving me. Those wasps were furious."
"Yeah, I kinda got the point back there. My leg still hurts a bit. Oh, and um... If you could not mention my more colorful word choices to anyone, I would appreciate that."
BJ tilted his head and asked, "Colorful word choices? Do bugs normally make ya shout out the colors of the rainbow? Ooh! What color would you say for spiders?"
"Uncle BJ, that's not what they meant."
"It's not?"
You bit your knuckle, trying and failing to hide your laughter from bubbling out. The pair took notice, and you waved them off while you fought to stop laughing.
"I'm sorry," you said in between laughs, "You two are just really cute."
Lydia giggled into her hand while BJ scrunched up his face and stuck his tongue out. You bit harder on your knuckle as your shoulders bounced. How were they so cute?
You got your laughter to subside and resumed eating your lunch. Lydia did the same, but BJ had nothing in front of him.
"Are you not going to eat, Mr. Beetleman?"
"Nah, I got some grub back when we were at the bug house. And ya really don't have to keep calling me that. Like I said, just call me BJ."
"Right. I'm sorry Mr. Beetle—um, BJ."
A smile stretched across his face as his nickname rolled off your tongue. You smiled back with a giggle.
Lydia looked back over her shoulder and said, "I think I hear Bertha and Prudence calling me to go sit with them! Thanks again, teacher."
She dashed off with her lunch a moment later. Curiously, it looked like her friends had only just rounded the corner. But you couldn't blame the kid for wanting to sit with her peers over adults.
"So, um, BJ. Are you okay after the little... insect fiasco? I'm sorry I forgot to ask earlier, I was just so worried the girls might have gotten hurt."
"Oh yeah, babes, I'm fine, no need to worry about me."
You blinked once or twice with a growing warmth on your cheeks. The new moniker caught you off guard. You murmured the word to yourself and felt the warmth intensify. Another giggle bubbled up in you, and this time you didn't suppress it.
"Well, I'm glad you're okay, too. Though I missed you while we were going through the insectarium. I would have grassed you'd hop at the opportunity to make all the insect puns you could, Mr. Beetle-man."
"Nah, jokes like that really bug me."
"That's hard to bee-lieve."
"Glad my joke didn't fly over your head."
"I'm gnat that gullible."
He snickered with a grin, showing off crooked teeth. That, strangely enough, suited him. You couldn't help but join in with a chuckle of your own. He certainly was cute, even if he didn't agree. Your laughter trailed off a moment later with a warm hum.
"So, BJ, do you live in Peaceful Pines or somewhere close?"
"Eeh... My place is kinda close, but hard to get to. It's this out of the way neighborhood that you've probably never heard of."
"I suppose so, considering I'm pretty new to Peaceful Pines myself. What do you do for a living?"
"Oh. Well... I~ 'm... A musician!"
"A musician?"
"Yeah! In between gigs right now."
"What do you play?"
"Better question is what can't I play! Guitar, drums, keyboard, ukulele, armpit!"
That last one got a sudden laugh out of you, and you bit your lip to stop your abrupt laughter. "My, that's quite the assortment of instruments." BJ's smile stretched at your compliment and you couldn't help but smile back. "Have you written any of your own songs?"
"Oh yeah! Loads of songs! Smells Like Ten Spirits, Ghoul Is In The Hearse, Boo-hemian Rhapsody."
"Sounds spooky. I wouldn't mind hearing you play sometime," you said with a small giggle.
Whatever he planned on saying died in his throat, and he pressed his lips tight for a minute. You could have sworn that his pale tone flushed with a bit more color at that moment. Which honestly got you to giggle more.
"Really?"
"Of course! I'd love to hear you play! I love all kinds of music. What sorts of genres do you play? Rock? Metal? You mentioned a keyboard, do you play any electronic?"
He glanced away and rubbed the back of his neck, still sporting more color than normal. But he wore a smile on his face, so that's good.
"Ah, you know, a bit of this and a bit of that. I don't know what genre they'd actually fall under."
"Well, I'd still love to hear it."
"Heh, yeah. Maybe sometime."
You smiled and took a few more bites of your lunch. Between bites you asked about the town and what was there. Sure you knew the bigger things like where the grocery store was, but you had yet to venture out and explore Peaceful Pines. BJ made outlandish claims concerning the town, like how he and his niece set up a store one time and everyone in town clamored to buy from them. You rolled your eyes and listened to his yarn, smiling as he got invested into telling his stories.
When lunch ended you rounded up your group, the other teachers doing the same. Some girls grumbled over having to part with their friends in other groups—Claire—most other students fell in line with little fuss.
As the students cleared out from the tables, other zoo patrons overtook them. One group being a man with two boys loudly griping something or other about schools. You shook your head and focused on looking after your students.
After counting everyone, you lead the group to finish your tour through the zoo. The next stop on the schedule had you at a smaller farm-like section. You guided the girls to the front of the gated area and lead them into the main pen. Various cute domesticated animals stood around with the odd zookeeper milling around, supervising.
"Alright girls, you have some time to go see the animals. Please be gentle!"
The kids scattered, seeking different animals. As they left, you overheard Claire voice her disgust regarding the smell of the stinky farm animals. You let out a sigh and rubbed at your temple.
"I don't get what she's complaining about. This place smells great!"
You sputtered a laugh and glanced sidelong at BJ. Your lips curled into a half smile as you shook your head.
"BJ, you are—a very strange man."
"Hey babes, 'Strange' is my middle name."
"Is it now? Ben J. Strange Beetleman?"
"Uh... Yep. That's my name don't wear it out!"
"You're a goof." you said laughing. You scanned over the large pen and saw the students with animals. At least this time you had an unobstructed view of all of them.
"So, teach, how you liking your job with the school?"
You blinked and glanced at him before you thought over an answer. "It's been tricky, but I'm extremely thankful to have gotten this job. I still can't believe the last teacher just left though."
"Mr. Greener?"
"Yes actually. You knew him?"
"Yeah, he was a piece of shit! Lyds put a lot of work into a group project but because he hated me—my other niece Betty, he flailed them!"
"Oh dear, please try not to let the girls hear that language," you said. The distance between you and the girls made it unlikely that any of them could hear your conversation. But you'd still wanted to be careful. "I'm terribly sorry to hear that, though. Did you speak to the headmistress to get your nieces' grades corrected?"
"Eh. Sorta. Except I went and saw Mr. Greener personally."
"I hope he was reasonable."
"Yeah. Nothing a bit of juicing couldn't solve."
"J-juicing?" you asked, tilting your head. "Like, you went out for drinks?"
He flinched and rubbed the back of his head. BJ shifted his weight from one leg to the other before he pointed a thumb in Lydia's direction. "Something like that. Hey, I'm going to check on Lyds."
"Oh, of course. I should check on the other girls too."
He nodded and jogged over to his niece and her friends. He was far enough away that you couldn't make out what he and the girls were saying. Whatever it was, the girls giggled, and BJ ran his fingers through his pale blond hair as he glanced away.
You chuckled to yourself and looked over your clipboard. As you flipped through the pages, a loud bleat came from behind you. A lamb sneaked up to you in search of affection. You knelt to dote on the small lamb and it bleated at you more. After you cooed at the baby for a minute you stood back up, you still needed a to check on the students.
You circled around the petting zoo pen and counted each of the girls. A bonus of your walk was the chance to find other animals on their lonesome and in need of pets. Claire and a girl with a ponytail found rabbits to hold. One student was with a small flock of chickens, while Lydia and her friends gave a goat love and affection.
You made it to a corner of the pen away from most of the other animals save for a lone donkey and resting ducks. You smiled to the donkey and stepped closer, gently reaching out a hand to give the cutie a pat on the head.
The donkey enjoyed the attention and butted its head into your hand more. You giggled and scratched the top of its mane, which appeared to be significantly lighter than what was common for donkeys. Then again, given that it also had zebra stripes, it may be a hybrid.
You left to speak with the girls only for the donkey to follow you. It nudged your free hand asking for more pets, and you laughed. You broke every time and gave the little donkey more pats and scratches as you made your way to check in with the students.
You got over to Lydia, Bertha, and Prudence and greeted them. After a quick hello to them, you end up getting another nudge from the donkey. You caved yet again and patted its head.
Lydia gave the donkey an accusing look, and it responded with a huff. You chuckled at the exchange.
"Is something the matter?"
"No teacher, I'd just keep an eye on that donkey if I were you."
"Oh, he's harmless," you said and bent down to pet the animal's head, "he just likes the attention. Doubt this poor guy is as popular as the other animals here."
You scratch along the back of its ear down to the back of its jaw. The donkey, in response, leaned its cheek into your palm.
"Such a sweetheart."
It blew its lips at you and got a laugh out of you.
"No? You sure?" It huffed at you and you scratched its cheek more. "Alright, have it your way."
You gave it one more pat on the head before you stood. The donkey, despite its chagrin, still followed you. Throughout your check in, the striped donkey nudged at you, demanding more affection. You checked in with Gwen amid the chickens, then proceeded to Mindy and Claire.The pair each cradled a bunny. You greeted them as you walked up and asked how they were doing. The donkey took a few steps closer to Claire and brayed loudly in her face. It startled the rabbit she held, causing it to squirm out of her arms and hit the ground running.
"Ugh! You stupid, ugly thing! You scared off my cute little bunny!"
You took a step, wanting to get her to calm down in case she got the animals upset. Before you could, the donkey brayed in her face again and dropped to the dirt. It rolled on the ground and kicked up an enormous dust cloud that got in your eyes. The girls started coughing, and you ushered them away from the donkey, enjoying his dirt bath.
"Come on, let's see if you can get the bunny back. Or maybe there's another animal here you'd like to play with."
The blonde huffed as she adjusted her bow. She said nothing and marched off in search of another rabbit to hold. You sighed and spared a glance at the donkey wallowing. It rolled onto its legs, tucking them under its body, and looked your way before it blew a raspberry at you.
When the time came to head to the next destination, you got the students to line up near the entrance of the petting zoo. Lydia and her uncle lagged behind, and you swept the area to see where they might have gone off to. The only real hiding spot would be the large open barn.
You turned a corner and could hear BJ's voice before you saw him. "What? I'm telling you, Lyds, it was an act! I was just playing the part."
You stepped closer and cleared your throat to get the pair's attention. Both their heads jerked your way, and you gave a half smile. "It's time to go. We need to get to the Asian section of animals next."
Lydia's face lit up, and she grabbed BJ's hand. She pulled him along, saying, "Let's go! I can't wait to see pandas!"
You shook your head as she dragged him passed you. However, you called after them when you got a look at BJ's back.
"Goodness BJ, did you fall down? You're covered in dirt."
You closed the gap between you and dusted off his back. Some of the light brown dirt came off, but the shirt needed to go through the wash to get off the rest of it. Once you wiped off all the dirt you could, you smiled at him and lead the way back to the others.
You held the gate open for everyone. The girls chatted among themselves, still gushing about the cute animals. As BJ passed by, you noticed his face flushed again. You hoped his allergies weren't too severe, but he never asked for an antihistamine, so they must have been tolerable.
You fished through your bag for the bottle and bumped into the arm of a man. You stepped to the side and apologized. His sunburnt features twisted into a sneer. He said nothing as he walked with his two screaming boys into the petting zoo. You tapped your finger against a metal piece on your bag before you hurried off to get back ahead of your group.
You lead the group through the other continents, showing the students animals from Asia followed by North America. You and BJ kept up your jokes while the girls watched the different animals on the tour. To your surprise, BJ even sprinkled in a few more questions about yourself between jokes.
You shared your favorite movies with him, a story about an awful vacation you had a few years back, and what insects you were fond of the most. BJ then told you his own answers. Like how The Exorcist was his favorite comedy, he hated trips to his aunt and uncle's place, and how beetles were his absolute favorite bugs. No surprise on that last one.
You lead the group to the last of the continents for your tour. Your chest ached as you counted the handful of animals left to visit, but you put on a smile and lead the students through the Australian part of the zoo. The girls cooed at the kangaroos and flinched away from crocodiles in the middle of their own lunch. BJ even flinched away from the large perentie lizard that, as far as you could tell, was just soaking up the sun in a nice little sandy spot. When you got to the last animal on the list, the girls rushed to the railing.
"Hey! Don't climb on the railing! Get down from there!"
"But like, I can't see the koala bears!"
"I said get down Claire. And they're not bears."
The girl did as told, but she groaned and griped. You frowned, but let it be so long as she nor the others climbed up again. The kids had trouble getting good vantage points, but with time everyone found spots to watch the koalas. Once the kids settled, BJ stepped back to crack a few more jokes with you.
"Goodness, BJ, you sure have a vast pool of jokes to pull from."
He cracked a half-smirk-half-smile at you. "Well, it's nothing but koala-ety jokes from me babes."
You laughed harder and caught yourself a moment later with a cough into your fist. "BJ, I've been meaning to ask; do you help chaperone for the school often?"
"Not really. Came this time cause Lyds was beggin' me to come along with her. Sweet girl, wants to spend as much time with her uncle as she can."
You smiled and looked back at the girls. Only for your blood to chill. "Claire!"
Your shout shocked the blonde scaling the bars. She lost her grip and fell back onto the ground. You scowl and march over to her. With your hands on your hips, you tapped your foot, waiting for her to get back to her feet.
"I told you not to climb the railing. What if you fell in?"
"But I can't see them!"
"If you won't listen to instructions, you can stand back next to me."
"Ew! Gross."
Claire wasn't happy in the slightest, and neither were you. You stood closer to the railing so Claire could still see. However, standing with her put a stop to your banter with BJ. You sighed and mindlessly checked over your clipboard for the last lesson.
A few minutes later you rattled off the educational part of the tour. It didn't last long, only five minutes, and once you finished reading, that was it. No more lessons. No more tour.
"Alright. That's it. We got a bit of time left before we need to head back to the buses."
"Teacher?" the tall brunette said. "Can we go by the gift shop? I want to get something for my mom."
You checked the map. It was on the way to the buses, so you didn't see any harm in perusing the shop for a while. You nodded, and the girls got excited. You showed BJ the location of the shop and guided the kids there.
After the twists and turns of the zoo pathways, and weaving through the growing number of patrons attending the zoo, your group makes it to the gift shop closest to the front gate.
You crossed into the shop where colorful souvenirs stacked high on every wall. Shirts in every color of the rainbow lined two of the wall, along with hats and tote bags. Stuffed animals of all sorts piled into the shelves of another part of the wall. Display stands covered most of the sales floor, packing in as much products as the building could hold. The girls scatted the instant you stepped inside, each drawn to different areas of the store. You rolled your eyes and strolled through the shop, interested to see if anything jumped out at you.
Claire and Mindy played with the plushies. The two pulled the smaller toys from the shelves and checked each one. As you passed by, Mindy asked you to check the price of the large giraffe toy on top of one of the floor displays. You found the tag of the toy nearly as tall as her and told her the steep price. She frowned and hugged the smaller giraffe toy in her arms tighter.
She went back to playing with Claire, and you moved on to check on the other girls. Bertha, Prudence and Gwen examined tumbled rocks that sat in a large bin. Prudence meticulously inspected rocks before deciding whether to place in the velvet pouch. Bertha and Gwen, in contrast, didn't scrutinize the rocks they put in their velvet pouches.
You passed them by with a smile and wondered to a corner of the shop stocked with candy. Odd that none of your girls browsed that section.
You shrugged to yourself and looked over the selection. Packages of chocolates, bags of gummies, jars filled with rock candy, and many, many more types of sweets crammed into that corner display. You grabbed one thing for yourself and notice peculiar lollipops next to it. The longer you looked at the lollipops, the more you thought it a good idea to buy one as well.
You grabbed one and took your selections up to the register to pay. The cashier rang up your items, and you handed them the payment as a booming voice cut through the air. You and most everyone in the shop turned to find a sunburnt man jostling two rowdy boys into the store. You sighed but turned back to finish your transaction. Not your circus, not your monkeys.
Once paid for, you take your candies, and head over to check on the last two members of the group. Lydia and her uncle compared boxes of solid white figurines in need of painting. You glanced over the various sets for sale, dinosaurs, birds, savanna animals, fish. Lydia held a box of the dinosaurs and looked it over with a slight frown.
"Can't decide which one you want?" You asked.
"I was hoping they'd have the one with bugs. I can never find that one."
You hummed and looked over the shelf. Birds, birds, fish, dinosaurs, birds, oh? You leaned closer and pulled out the front kits, handing them off to BJ. You grabbed the kit from way in the back and handed that one to Lydia.
"Deadly voo! I can't believe you found it!"
"They always hide the good stuff in the back."
"Thank you!" She rushed off to the register, clutching her prize. You chuckled and turned to BJ, still holding the stack of other kits. "Oh dear. Here." You helped him put the kits back on the shelf and freed up his arms. "Sorry about that."
"Nah, you're fine. Plus, you helped Lyds get that kit she's been wanting."
You breathed out a small laugh and gave him a half smile as you fiddled with something in your coat pocket. "Oh!" You pulled out the lollipop and handed it to him. "Thought you might like this since you said you were a 'connoisseur of bugs'."
He studied the lollipop, where the transparent pink candy encased a whole cricket. BJ grew a lopsided smile on his face and he put the candy in his shirt's chest pocket.
"Thanks babes! Save that for later."
"What do you think you're doing? Get out of the way, you brat!" The booming voice from earlier cut through the room again.
You spun around and find the man glaring down at Claire and Mindy. Hackles raised, you darted straight over to your students. You pulled the girls behind you and away from the upset man.
"Is there a problem?" you asked in a tone so sharp it could have cut diamonds.
"Yeah, these stupid girls of yours are in my way."
"Sir. I'm sure if you had asked politely they would have moved."
The man leaned to sneer at you. The faint stench of alcohol drifted on his breath. You glared back with your nostrils flared.
"Ow! Hey quit it!"
You break eye contact with the man to find the other girls getting pelted with rocks by the man's two rowdy boys.
"Stop that this instant!" you barked
"Hey, don't you go telling my boys what to do!"
"It's showtime!"
The lights flickered, casting the entire store in shadow for a moment. When the lights turned back on, the head of the giraffe toy had lowered to separate you and the man. The toy faced the man, and you swore it leaned in closer to him and said, "Hey, how's it going."
The toy's head swung at the man, decking him square in the face. The man reeled back and stumbled to the floor. You took that opportunity to remove yourself and grabbed the girls' shoulders to usher them to the other side of the store. You left them with Lydia up front by the cashier—on the phone with what sounded like security.
A deep scream bellowed out. Stuffed animals covered the man on the floor. He squirmed, but couldn't sit up, let alone get to his feet. You spared a disgusted glower at him before darting over to round up the other half of your group.
The boys chased your students into a corner and pelted the girls with their arms full of rocks. You grit your teeth and barked at the two to move. The boys turned. The younger of the two stuck out his tongue while the other said they didn't have to listen to you.
A second later, the boys screamed out and dropped the rocks. Beetles crawled up the two's arms and they both frantically flung their arms to get the bugs off them. The younger started wailing for his dad—still pinned to the floor by stuffed animals. The boys ran over to their father and you grabbed the girls to escort them to the rest of your group.
BJ stood with the other half of the group, laughing at the misfortune of the disaster family. You got the girls accounted for, triple checking you had everyone, and asked the cashier if you needed to stay. The poor kid looked like a deer in the headlights. They couldn't be more than a year out of high school. The cashier made another call and after which they said it was alright for your group to leave.
From there you lead the group back to the front gates and met up with the rest of the school. It wasn't long after that you and the girls boarded the bus. Once you sat, your head started swimming as the last bit of adrenaline drained out of you. It was maybe ten minutes into the drive home that you let out a deep breath and tried to collect your thoughts.
"Are you okay, teacher?"
You sat up and looked back to the row behind you. Lydia sat with her uncle, with her brows knitted in concern. Your mouth felt dry, and you swallowed to relieve the discomfort before answering.
"I've been better. But no one got seriously hurt, so there's that." You lolled your head onto the back of the bench and hissed out a small laugh through your teeth. "Got a crazy story to tell people now. First the bugs, then the jerk in the gift shop."
You heard movement in the seat behind you, followed by BJ's chuckle. "Crazy stories are the best kind!"
"They are after the fact, but between that jerk in the gift and the bug break out earlier, I am very much done with today. My leg still hurts from that wasp sting. If not for that little frog I would have gotten a lot more stings."
"I suppose the frog took a liking to you," Lydia said, "just like that donkey at the petting zoo."
You closed your eyes and sighed once more. BJ muttered something that you didn't bother to decipher. When he spoke clearly, he said, "Besides the minor mishaps, that was a fun trip though!"
You huffed out a dry laugh, but couldn't muster the energy to reply right away. When you did, you asked them to let you rest your eyes for the trip back. They agreed to, and you mumbled a thanks.
Regardless of whether you crossed over into a proper sleep, you managed a semblance of rest by the time the bus pulled up to the school. You sat up and rubbed at your eyes before glancing out the window. The students filed off the bus, followed by the other teachers. You got your things and left just behind the other teachers.
The crowd outside the bus thinned at the edges as students left the school grounds for home. You got to the edge near the building to watch over the students leaving. Among them you caught sight of Lydia and her uncle BJ. You bit your lip a tad worried you came across as rude earlier. An urge to correct that mistake overcame you, and you scurried over to catch them.
"Lydia, wait."
"Is something wrong, teacher?"
"No. Well, possibly. I wanted to apologize if I came across as rude on the bus. After that incident in the gift shop I felt rather drained."
"I understand. I didn't think you were rude."
You gave a soft smile to the girl. "I guess I should let you head home now. I'll see you in class, Lydia. Oh. And BJ, I... hope to see you around too."
"Ya really mean that, teach?"
"Please, you don't have to be so formal," you said with a laugh. You told him your name, and he repeated it to himself with a smile. "I enjoyed your company and wouldn't mind spending more time with you. Perhaps you could even show me around town."
He blinked at you a few times before the biggest grin split his face. "You got it, babes! BJ's Peaceful Pines Town Tours! Just say the word and I'll show you everything from here to the Neitherworld!"
"The Neitherworld? What?"
"Ah, uncle Beej, I think we should get going now. I need to get home for dinner."
"Oh. Right."
They waved you a farewell. You waved one back as you bit your lip and chuckled. Such a strange duo. Especially her uncle. But you've always liked the strange and unusual.
Lovin’ Kind
Chapter Two
Pairing: Riff x Latina! Summary: With Tony back it means The Jets hanging around Doc’s more often and Catalina has some stuff to figure out that Riff and his intolerance isn’t helping.
A/N: Here comes Chapter 2 thanks so much for reading and I will see you Thursday for Chapter 3! As always feel free to message me for tags or even feedback!! Enjoy!!!!!
———————————————————— Riff Pov
“Now that Tony is back everything can be as it used to be and we can get our turf back. Those no-good spics ain’t worth shit.”, I rally at my guys. “Riff, Tony ain’t want nothing to do with us?”, Ice says. “He just needs time okay he just got back.”, I defend. “Face it he done with the jets.”, Diesel adds. “Ain’t no such thing as done with the Jets. Meet at Doc’s at 2 and we will talk to him.”, I order before walking off.
Ever since Tony left I took over as leader of the gang but, I ain’t as confident as him and I don’t have the ideas he does or even the self-control. I start running my mouth and get us in deeper trouble than we need. I sorta blame myself for him landing upstate…that dumb Egyptian King was running his trap so I boasted up Tony causing him to nearly kill the kid. We created the Jets it’s our only source of family and I couldn’t let it fall apart after he left. As I walk towards Doc’s trying to make it there before the rest of the guys I begin to think about my conversation with Tony last night. He was blabbing about wanting to change and be better but I don’t know what he is going on about. He has never been as angry as some of us Jets and I think Catalina had something to do with it those two were about as close as Tony and I outside of the gang and i’ve never hated her for being around but, the guys and I do poke at her causing her utter annoyance. I’d bet everything I got which isn’t much…that she hates me just for being me and getting Tony sent away. Maybe I should’ve been there for her when he left she was alone with the old bat. She probably would’ve laughed in my face. When I finally approach the entrance of Doc’s I see Cat sweeping the floors and dancing around to music from the juke. I walk through the door and lean against the doorframe watching her glide across the floor. I am unaware of how long this take places until she spins around dropping the broom and letting out a small squeal.
——————————————————————— Catalina Pov
I love having music playing while I am cleaning it fills the empty space surrounding me. I am dancing around the store sweeping when I turn around and find Riff just standing there watching me causing me to jump, drop my broom and squeal. “What the hell are you doing?”, I say picking up the broom and praying it sounded like I was mad. “Watching you dance? I think?”, he smirks, god that smirk. STOP IT! “You never just stand there like a creep and what do you mean you think?”, I roll my eyes walking away from him. “Well that’s not how ya dance sweetheart.”, he snickers.
“Sorry was it too Puerto Rican for you”, I spit. “Why so catty?”, he follows me. “Knock it off! I’m not dealing with you today.”. “Well clear your schedule cause yes you are. The Jets are coming by today and isn’t today the only day the old bat never sets foot here? Leaving you to fend for yourself?”, He remains on my tail. “And you know this how?”, I face him. “You may ignore me but doesn’t mean I ignore you.”, his eyes locked on mine. What does he mean by that? “Why don’t you go find some wall to paint on. Preferably a blank one that doesn’t have a Puerto Rican flag”, I push him away and go behind the counter.
“Come on don’t dump on my best work. Thought it needed some touch ups.”, he boasts. “No Riff! It was disrespectful and you knew that. It was hurtful to us and you know that but, that is what makes you happy huh seeing everyone around you miserable except for the Jets. We left Puerto Rico to find better opportunities the same way your people did and all we have been met with is hate by people like you! Screw you and the Jets all we want is a home just like you!”, I am livid. “Well at least you got family! The Jets are the only source of family I have and we aren’t letting some dirty spics ruin that!”, he fires back. “Look around gringo! Where’s your family now? Causing a ruckus without their hot shot leader. Half of us leave our family behind sometimes because they can’t come. My dad left my mom and me so we came here for my Tia and within a few years of us being here my mom fell extremely ill causing her to leave me too. My tia is all I have left and these Puerto Ricans that are “stealing” your turf are my family the way the Jets are yours. Ever think about that? No of course not! All you ever think about is you!”, I spat in pure anger, careful not to let my tears fall no way was he gonna see me this way.
“Cat? I-“, he stumbles through his thoughts. “Catalina. Just leave it alone Riff, I have a job to do.”, I get back to sweeping. Tony comes upstairs for the first time all morning ready to get to work. “Morning Catalina. Oh hey buddy boy what you doing here.”, Tony smiles unaware of the spiel I let out. “Came here to see you. The Jets are on their way we all need to talk business.”, Riff says acting like nothing happened. Typical. Why do I care? “I told ya I ain’t getting involved in that.”., Tony says taking the broom from me. “There ain’t no leaving the Jets you know that”, Riff steals the broom from him.
“Okay if you two are going to argue about this can you do it elsewhere so I can do my job. Just because Valentina doesn’t come in today doesn’t mean this place can be unorganized.”, I steal the broom from Riff and push past the boys. “Riff I have to start work can‘t we talk later?”, Tony pleads. “Sure I’ll just sit here and watch you and the princess work till the guys get here.”, he takes a seat at a table crossing his arms and a smug look across his face. I roll my eyes and tell Tony how we keep the store clean and organized. After he brings up some inventory he and I start to stock up the shelves. As I fill up the Snickers I notice Tony removing them. “Would you stop they need to be filled up.”, I laugh at his small joke. “What do you mean it’s a ghost.”, he chuckles tossing the candy back into the inventory box. “Uno de estos dias lo juro.(One of these days I swear)”, I say.
The bell rings signaling someone entering the store, a click of heels hitting the floor and a voice I know. “Alta como estas?’, Anita walks towards me not noticing the two white boys in the store with me, “Anita..que haces aqui? Mi tia no viene hoy? (What are you doing here? My aunt doesn’t come in today).”, I say meeting her closer to the door. Riff sits up in his chair amused at the sight in front of him and Tony is frozen in his tracks. “Medidas necesarias pero pareces ocupado.(Needed measurements but you seem busy)”, she says finally acknowledging the boys. “Hola señora”, Riff comes closer to us. “Riff back off”, Tony says catching everyone’s attention.
“Tony watch the store. Anita follow me. Riff don’t steal anything.”, I say guiding Anita towards the back of the store so she could get what she needs. “There’s a white man working here? And The Jets leader is just sitting there?!”. “Tony is harmless my Tia offered him a job after he was released from prison”, I explain. “Prison! Como que harmless!”. “It’s a long story. Tony is my friend and unfortunately Riff is his best friend. Please don’t think different of me.”, I beg. “I could never..you are one of us. Just be careful I don’t want you getting hurt.”, she says. “I have my ways around them…don’t tell Nardo please I don’t wanna deal the Sharks getting territorial”, I ask of her.
She nods and gets her measurements while I poke at her for details about my dress that she is keeping from me. I walk her out finding Tony and Riff exactly where I left them. “Acabo de pasar por el apartamento el jueves y haremos los toques finales. Puedes llevar el vestido a casa después de eso para la danza.(Just come by the apartment Thursday and we will do final touches. You can bring the dress home after that for the dance)”, she smiles giving me a hug. “English ladies.”, Riff says with yet another Milkyway in his dirty hands. I roll my eyes ignoring him. “Gracias. I will see you Thursday and tell Maria I said hi.”. “Of course. And Junior said he would be happy to escort you so we can all meet there.”, she explains. “I look forward to it. Adios.”, I say as she walks out.
“So kitty cat is going to the dance huh?’, Riff mocks. “Of course I am.”, I say taking the candy from him. “So do you know Junior?”, Tony asks. “I’ve met him a few times. He is pretty nice. They just wanna set Maria and I up with some nice Puertorriqueños.”, I walk towards the shelves to finish stocking. “Don’t wanna make like your tia and marry a white man?“, Riff interjects. “I don’t care about that and if you knew me at all you would know that.”, I spit. “Just saying I could always take ya to the dance doll.”, leaving Tony and I confused.
As if perfect timing, the bell rings again and in walks the rest of the Jets followed by some of their girls Graziella, Velma, and Minnie. Grazi and I were on okay terms since she was Tony’s girlfriend before he went away but I guess she is keeping Riff company now. After hugging Tony she places herself in Riffs lap causing my stomach to churn. “Cat it’s been a while.”, Diesel says scooting close to me. “Not long enough.”, I say moving away. “Don’t be like that. Come on.”, he pulls me back. “Enough!”, Riff shouts causing everyone to look at him. “Touchy touchy.”, Ice chimes in. “Mind your damn business”, he spits back. “Grazi calm your man down”, Ice chuckles.
Tony and I exchange some looks, listening to the nonsense these guys were talking. I could feel Riff’s eyes locked on me for some reason as I went about my duties. “Anyway the reason we are all here is for Tony boy! He’s back and ready to reclaim his position as leader right?’, Baby John, the youngest and least harmless of the Jets speaks up. “I told Riff I can’t be getting mixed up in all that.”he glares at his best friend. “Ya know his parole officer and all that he can’t get sent back.”, Riff pushes but the Jets don’t buy it. “Riff is right. With Tony’s parole if he gets caught doing something dumb he can get sent back and they won’t be as nice as they were.”, I defend. “Just give me some time to figure things out.”, Tony says clearly upset with his two best friends. “So ya’ll hear about that dance next week?”, Velma speaks up. She never talks much. Just kind of hanging around I’ve tried to play nice with her but, she is closer to Grazi.
“Yeah. Everyone is going. Shark and Jets alike.”, Riff smirks in my direction. “You and Grazi will have loads of fun dancing together.”, I push at him. “No gang business please let’s just dance and have fun.”, Grazi begs him. “I make no promises.”, he looks back at the girl in his lap. “I’m leaving you dogs to your love fest”, I walk away from the conversation and place myself behind the counter to count the till.
After a few hours and a lot of back and forth the Jets leave their hangout leaving Tony and I to have a conversation. “Why would you do that? I thought we were friends.”, He says. “You’re my best friend you know that. I guess I was trying to help Riff in a way.”, I admit. “Help him?”, he is as confused as me. “Yeah I mean when he took over as leader he forced it on himself so he didn’t lose them. I figured if I backed him up a little bit with the whole parole thing maybe they would take him a bit more serious.”, I explain. “Neither of you are wrong. My parole officer will kill me if I get involved with anything hence my want to stay only in Doc’s and lay low.”, he looks at me. “I’m sorry you know I’d never do anything to get you into trouble with anyone.”, I plead for forgiveness. “You’re lucky that as my best friend I can’t stay mad at you.” He hugs me. “Good now make sure you can see your reflection in the floor or Valentina is going to murder us both.”, I giggle. We clean around the store humming to ourselves till it was time to close.
A few days pass
It is now Monday and the Jet’s have been at Doc’s every day. Today my Tia gave me the day off so I decided to go around to the markets and maybe find a new dress just for me. I have always been very scarce with any money my tia pays me at the store but I had saved enough for the classes Maria and I had discussed since I had been thinking about it for a while and had a few cents to spare. I invited Tony out but he declined and my tia didn’t need any errands done so it was just me in the hot New York Sun. I was encapsulated by this beautiful skirt that was the perfect shade of dark red and it flowed perfectly with a black off the shoulder top I had hidden at home. Lost in thought I don’t realize that there is a body now next to me.
“Oh buying something pretty to wear for our date?”, the body speaks and I turn over my shoulder to see Riff. “No you see the skirt is actually for you. I’ve heard you’re just a vision in red.”, I remark. “You’ve heard correct.”, he does his signature smirk. If a look could send me it would be that one. “What are you doing here? Following me like a puppy?”, I say. “Woof woof sweetheart.”, I can’t help but let out a small laugh at that. “Seriously why are in the market?”, I ask. “I wanted to thank ya for backing me up the other day ya know.”, he looks down at his fingers.
“I did it for Tony”, I half-lie. “No no i’m sure I just..it made the guys respect me a bit more.”, he admits. “Good now get them to leave the Puerto Ricans alone.”, I say. “You know I can’t do that and even then I won’t do that. We were here first.”, he says. “What are we five years old fighting over the sand box?”, I say aggravated. “I’m just saying that we don’t share.”, he doesn’t help his case.
“So let me get this straight. You’re allowed to terrorize us but we can’t fight back?”, I ask. “Exactly see you’re getting it. Thought you were supposed to be smart.”, he remarks sarcastically.
“Between us two..I am the smart one and that isn’t fair. We don’t purposely come after you and your guys. The only reasons the Sharks do anything back is because they won’t let themselves be disrespected. You guys just start everything but the Sharks are determined to finish it”, I explain. “That is the problem right there.”, he points out. “No the problem is you.”, I say walking away from him. I push past the groups of people shopping realizing I didn’t get my skirt. I sigh to myself and go over to Maria’s.
—————————————————————————— “Maria want to go get some coffee?”, I ask. “Sure let me grab my purse and tell Nardo.” She smiles.
We both head over to a diner that was decently neutral territory nothing ever happened here thank god for that. She talks me through all the things Anita and Bernardo have said about Junior and I they have some high expectations. Although we are not blood they are like siblings to me but, sometimes they treat Maria and I like kids. “I know I agreed to go with Junior but, I am kind of rethinking it.”, I admit to her. “Why?”, she asks. “I’m not a kid..i am eighteen years old I can find my own dates to things and who is to say that I even want to be in a relationship.”, I say. “ Is there someone else?”, Maria inquires. “What? No. I just mean I can get my own dates.”, I defend. “Okay mentirosa”, She sips her coffee picking at her piece of pie. “Cállate”, I say eating my pie.
“Kitty cat what brings you here this afternoon.”, Diesel says pulling out a chair next to me. “Diesel now is not the time. Please leave me alone.”, I beg. “Shooing me off before introducing me to your friend.”, he looks at Maria who has now gone silent. “You don’t need to know her. Don’t you have to meet the guys at the docks or something?”, I say. “Nah they won’t mind if i’m a little late on the account of pretty girls.”, He wraps an arm around me. “Diesel please.”, I beg beginning to get nervous. Diesel is the more angered one of the Jets he doesn’t care. “Please what?’, he says his index finger tracing down my arm.
“Diesel back off!”, Riff’s voice booms through the diner. “Come on bud it’s Cat I wanna see how scratchy she can get.”, he looks at me. “If I have to tell you one more damn time you’re going to be limping out of this diner.”, his voice stern and stance strong. “Whatever. I’ll finish this later.”, he whispers in my ear before leaving us. “Are you okay Catalina?”, Riff asks. “Screw all of you.”, I say through gritted teeth, and setting money down on the table and leading Maria out of the building.
“How do you know them?”, she asks me. “ I grew up at Doc’s and so did the Jet’s usually they pick on me but, never to the extent of what they do to the Sharks or the rest of us.”, I explain. “Who was Riff?”. “He is their leader. Just never make eye contact with them okay.”, I say. She nods and I walk her back to her apartment before returning to Doc’s finding a worried Tony. “Are you okay!? Riff told me what happened with Deez did he hurt you?’, he asks checking my arms and legs for evidence. “No he didn’t do anything he was just slightly touchy and saying things that were uncomfortable but I am okay.”, I pull my arm away from him. “Riff was worried about ya.”, he admits. “Sure he was. I’m going to bed think you can handle locking up?”, I ask.
Tony nods and I head off to my little corner in the back of the store. Laying in bed I mourn the dress I left at the market and wonder why Riff would be worried about me he has never once in his life showed he cared about anyone besides himself and after our conversation at the shops I expect no different.
Please don’t go out with someone else.
Synopsis: How did squad leader mom met the captain and how they got together.
MASTERLIST; ASK (request or anything else)
Tumblr media
Your brother and Wylan, your childhood friend, always wanted to join the training corps. As you were only a year younger than them, you grew up with them constantly talking about joining the military – naturally, you wanted to join the military too. Your parents tried to talk the three of you out of this, but it was useless. Wylan always wanted to see what was outside the walls, therefore he knew he wanted to join the survey corps. Your brother tried to talk him out of this, but Wylan was stubborn.
When you finally reached the appropriate age to join the survey corps, you were beyond excited. Your brother and Wylan both waited another year so you could all join together.
“This is going to be so fun!” Wylan shouted the first day.
Out of the three of you, your brother was the best one – he was a great fighter, he was great with the gear and he was very obedient as well. Wylan was doing great – nothing exceptional but he could easily make into the top ten.
“At this rate, I’m sure the three of us will end up in the top ten and you know what that means?” your brother asked, “we could all move inside of wall Sina, and have a nice and peaceful life.”
“I don’t want to be part of the military police.” Wylan stated, “I’m joining the survey corps, no matter what happens.”
“Why would you do this?” your brother yelled. “Wylan, I didn’t want to bring this up but your parents –.”
“Yes, I know what happened to them.” Wylan argued. “I know they sacrificed themselves outside, they were both soldiers and having a kid was clearly a bad choice. That doesn’t mean I won’t join the survey corps too.” Wylan paused a second, “You think I’m stupid for wanting this.”
“No. It’s just that I want to grow old with you beside me.” your brother admitted. “And with you being in the survey corps, that won’t be possible.”
“I could visit –.” Wylan started.
“That won’t be possible because you might die outside!” your brother then looked at you, “you’re coming with me, right?”
“I might no be able to do that. None of us will if we’re not in the top ten.” you hesitated.
That night, before going to bed, Jesper, your brother, pulled you on the side so he could talk to you alone.
“Don’t mess up with tests tomorrow.” he told you.
“What?”
“I know you’re capable of doing the bare minimum, so you won’t have to choose. If you want to join the survey corps too, I…” he took a deep breath, “please take care of Wylan for me.”
“You could come with us.” you suggested. “You’re amazing, better than anyone else here, so why don’t you want to?”
“I don’t want to. I don’t want to know what it feels like to be in front of a titan and knowing that they’ll eat me when I can be safe inside.” Jesper worried.
“Please go talk to Wylan, I don’t want you two to fight. You’re both choosing different paths and you know, it’s ok.”
“Yeah. I should apologise.”
“Also, I will try my best to keep him safe outside.”
“Thank you.” Jesper smiled before leaving.
Without surprise, Jesper ended up being ranked first while you were third and Wylan fourth. Amongst the top ten, there was only you and Wylan who did not choose the military police. Before leaving, Jesper came to see you both to tell you goodbye.
“I’m going to miss you.”  Wylan told Jesper.
“I’m going to miss you too.” Jesper held Wylan’s hand tightly.
“Great,” you added smiling, “I mean, great to know I’ll be missed too.”
“I’m going to miss you too.” your brother smiled before hugging you.
“Yeah, anyway I’ll leave first because I feel like a third wheel here. I’ll see you later.”
When you finally arrived at the survey corps headquarters, you had a few hours to clean your clothes into your dorm before meeting everyone else on the training grounds to meet your future squad leader. You were beyond relieved when you found out Wylan and you were in the same squad because making friends was not your specialty.
“Hi, I’m Erwin. I’m your squad leader.”
“You’re really young.” you commented which resulted in Wylan punching you softly.
“I’m sorry, sir.” Wylan apologised.
“No, it’s fine. I worked hard for this post and I am proud of it.”
Later that day, you both met Hange.
“Really nice to meet you. I heard you two ranked top ten.” Hange said. “You won’t regret your choice, I’m sure it’ll be fun!”
“I’m Wylan, and this is Y/N.”
That night, you all drank and ate together – that is how you became friend with Hange, Mike, Erwin – your squad leader – and many other comrades.
Your first expedition took place a month after your arrival – it started great. There were only a few titans. Unfortunately, after a few days, it started to rain. At first, it was fine but when it turned out to be an enormous storm – it started to worry everyone.
The order was to stay close to each other so no one would get lost. When the storm finally calmed down – you looked around and noticed a lot of missing people.
“Where – Where’s Wylan?” you asked loudly.
“Y/N,” Erwin held you back, “he might be with another squad somewhere else.”
“No,” you mumbled panicked, “he – he was just behind me. He should be here too!”
You walked away and sat down somewhere calm, hoping for Wylan to show up. The remaining squads arrived one after the another, each one missing some of their soldiers.
“Y/N, the commander arrived,” Hange said quietly, “let’s go.”
The expedition just started which meant that it had to continue. A few hours passed, and as you followed Erwin on your horse you noticed a few bodies sitting under a tree on your left.
“Squad leader Erwin,” you hesitated, “look.” you pointed at where the bodies were.
Erwin and the rest of the squad run to them. You pushed them aside when you saw Wylan was one of the injured soldiers.
“Wylan!” you sobbed, “Hey, it’s me.”
“Hey.” Wylan choked, “I’m… glad… you’re alive.”
“You are too.” you cried.
“I’m sor–.”
“No, it’s ok, we’re going to be fine.” you tried to hold your tears back.
“Tell him… I love him…” Wylan took a deep breath, “ok?”
“Ok. I’m sure he knows and that he loves you very much too.”
“Good.” Wylan smiled weakly, “thank you… for coming back...”
You stayed with Wylan until he passed away – then, the soldiers’ bodies were all put in the cart and as the cart went back inside the walls, you had to continue.
When the expedition finally ended, you headed straight to Wylan dorm so you could clean his clothes and other belongings. You sent a letter to your family and Jesper so they could come for the funeral the survey corps organised for all the loses.
“I’m so sorry.” you cried when you saw Jesper again. “When I – he was…”
“It’s ok.” Jesper hugged you. “It’s ok.” he repeated.
Your parents brought flowers with them – in front of Wylan tomb, there were only the four of you.
“I’m going to bring his things.” you said, “can you guys help me?” you asked your parents so Jesper could have some privacy with Wylan.
You had put everything in a small bag, except for Wylan cloak which you decided to keep. Everything else was giving to Jesper. Before leaving, Jesper spent some time with you in your empty dorm.
“Did you… did he said anything before…”
“He told me to tell you that he loves you.” you whispered.
You both stayed together, in complete silence before he got up and had to leave. You reluctantly walked to the mess hall for dinner and sat with Hange. They smiled at you and you both ate in silence too – no one really wanted to talk.
Years went by and at the age of twenty-four, you became a squad leader. Hange had been promoted a few years before you – everything was going great. Then, one day, Erwin brought in three new recruits from the Underground. After commander Shadis put them in Flagon’s squad, you left with Hange et Erwin.
“What did you do?” you asked Erwin once you three were alone. “Why would you bring three thugs from the underground here?”
“They could be an asset to the survey corps. You should go and see them fight.”
“They have zero experience; they had no training. Just look at how disrespectful they are!”
“They are better than some of us at using the gear with no training.” Erwin corrected you.
“We’ll pay them a visit later.” Hange said.
“Great.” Erwin smiled before leaving.
“I don’t want to.” you told Hange.
“Oh, come on, please come with me!”
On their first day of training, you and Hange joined Flagon. You were all talking waiting for them to arrive, but after ten minutes of waiting, you volunteered to go and look for them. The first place you went for was the changing room with all the gear you used.
“You’re late.” you stated when you saw Isabel still with her gear undone.
“Sorry.”
“Well, hurry. Also, where are your two other friends?” you asked, “doesn’t matter, I’ll go look for them.”
“Wait.” Isabel stopped you, “This gear is a little different from what we used. I don’t know how to put it on correctly, no one told me.”
You turned around and slowly walked to her and explained to her how to put it on easily and quickly. When Isabel was done, you both walked out, and her friends were waiting for her outside.
“Next time try to be on time.” you told them when you walked out.
“Sorry miss.” Furlan apologised.
“It’s squad leader Y/N.” you corrected him harshly.
When you joined Flagon, he was fuming – screaming that they were irresponsible for making him wait that long and that they should just go back to where they came. When they started to kill the wooden titans, you were all speechless.
“Oh my!” you shouted impressed, “Erwin was right.”
“I wouldn’t have mind having them with me.” Hange stated impressed as well. “Flagon, you’re lucky as hell.”
Flagon ignored you and left to talk to them while you and Hange were talking about how good they were.
“Levi’s the most impressive right?” Hange said.
“Hell yeah!” you agreed. “Now I just want to see them in front of real titans. Act cool.” you told Hange when you saw them coming back.
“You were awesome!” Hange shouted, “Even more because you didn’t receive any training. Right Y/N.”
“You were great, yeah.” you commented calmly.
The next expedition was announced a few days later – it would take place in a month and half. Isabel and you became quite close since you were in charge of teaching them how to ride the horses – Flagon traded with you. While you would do his work, he will do some of your paperwork.
Furlan was polite and nice – he was making a lot of effort to blend in like Isabel. The only one who did not try was Levi. You tried to talk to him multiple times, but he would never answer you.
“Oh right,” you said before they would leave, “this weekend you’re allowed to leave the headquarters so you can visit family or just walk around the market. If you don’t want to leave, I can bring things for you if you’d like.”
“Can you bring back some of the cake you had last time?” Isabel asked referring to the cake your mom had baked.
“I’d like that too.” Furlan smiled.
“Sure, I’ll send a letter to my mom. What about you Levi?”
“Bring me some tea. And not the one you have here because it’s disgusting.” Levi said.
“Tea? Ok, I can do that.” you smiled, “you know it’s the first time you ever said anything to me.” you laughed before leaving.
You went back to your room to write your letter asking your mother to bake some cake and gather some tea leaves. While you were in your room, the trio went to their usual spot in the roof.
“I like Y/N,” Isabel started, “she’s nice.”
“Weirdly nice to us,” Levi said, “you didn’t tell her anything right?”
“I didn’t!”
“I don’t understand why she is that nice though.” Furlan added. “She didn’t seem to like us at first.”
“She changed her mind, she got to know us better –.” Isabel defended you.
“We’re leaving soon so it doesn’t matter.” Levi said.
Two years ago, your parents had the chance to move inside of wall Sina thanks to their business growing. You left Friday night to your parent’s house. Jesper was the one who came to take you home.
Saturday morning, Levi found it odd that you were with them – because you would always greet them in the morning. They did not know that you left earlier the day before. Hange and Erwin noticed how Levi was looking around and staring at every new person entering the mess hall.
“You should go and tell him that she’s not here.” Hange told Erwin.
“You go.” Erwin said.
“Fine.” Hange went to their table. “Hi. I noticed how you were looking for Y/N… I think.” Hange told Levi.
“I wasn’t.”
“Oh, then never mind.”
“But now that you’re here, where is she?” Levi asked.
“She went home last night. She’ll be back in three days. No need to worry.”
“I wasn’t.”
Levi hated himself for missing you – he tried to convince himself that he wanted to see you because you promised him tea, but deep down, he missed your calm and joyful presence. You had a lot of baskets full of food your mother prepared which meant your brother had to come and help with it.
“Where is there a short man glaring at me like that?” Jesper told when you left the carriage.
“What?” you asked him confused.
Jesper discreetly nodded towards Levi.
“I don’t know.” you said.
“Well, I’m leaving you here.” Jesper said going back into the carriage. “You’re good, right?”
“Yes, I’ll see you soon, bye!” you hugged him one last time before he left.
There were in total five big baskets of food – you tried to take them all at once for more efficiency, but it was a failure. Levi from behind took three of them seeing you struggling.
“Thank you.” you smiled, “we should just put them in my room.”
You walked in silence to your room and once Levi put everything on your desk – he started to leave but you stopped him by grabbing his sleeve.
“You forgot your tea.” you let go of his sleeve. “Oh, I also brought you this tea set, because the one we have here is really old.” you explained as you gave him an entire basket. “There’s also Furlan and Isabel’s food in there.”
“Thank you.” Levi whispered before leaving.
Two days after you came back, Levi stormed in your room at night as you were ready to go to bed. When Levi saw you in a simple tee shirt and some short, he immediately left your room. You slowly opened your door only to find Levi still outside of your room.
“Are you ok?” you asked worried.
“Yes.” Levi blushed slightly. “Your mother, I don’t know how she organised her tea. I need your help.”
“Oh, okay,” you nodded, “let’s go then.” you closed your door.
“Are you not going to put on more clothes?” Levi asked you, “because it’s cold.”
When you noticed how Levi still would not look into your eyes, you decided it would be better to put on a long jacket.
You followed him to the kitchen, where he had prepared two cups and some water and every tea flavour your mother had packed.
“Each colour of bags represents a flavour,” you explained, “Mh, I thought she wrote on it which flavour it was, but I think with time she just stopped writing it – because she knew. What flavour you want to drink now?”
“You choose.”
“I like green tea, but it’s late in the night now so we should try something else. Like chamomile.” you thought.
Levi poured hot water into the teapot and you waited five minutes before pouring some into the cups. You sat in front of each other at the nearest table to the kitchen and drank in silence.
“Why are you staring at me?” Levi asked drinking his tea.
“I always like to look at pretty flowers and pretty things in general,” you said which made Levi raise his eyebrows, “that’s why I was staring at you.” you completed your sentence smiling.
Levi felt his cheeks getting hotter – he was speechless. No one ever before complimented him, ever so that was new. Meaning, he did not know how to answer.
“Are you okay?” you asked him, “you’re really red. Oh no, is it because of the tea?” you reached out your hands to touch his face. “Are you having a fever?” you worried.
“No, I’m fine.” Levi took your hands and put them on the table but did not let go of them. “Your hands are soft.” Levi said.
“Your hands are warm.” you smiled squeezing his hands softly.
You were both looking at each other when suddenly the door opened on Isabel and Furlan which made Levi back away from you.
“Oh, sorry.” Isabel said, “did we interrupt something?”
“No.” Levi said. “I’ll meet you in ten minutes.”
“Ok.” Furlan left with Isabel.
“You can go, I’ll clean this up.” Levi started to gather the cups and teapot.
“Ok, I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Neither you nor Levi slept that night – it was not unusual for Levi, but for you it was. You could not stop thinking about what happened before Isabel and Furlan came in and neither could Levi.
After that, Levi would often make small talk with you when you were alone. He would often call you to drink tea with him before you went to bed. Then, a few days before their first expedition, Levi started to avoid you more and more which you did not find odd – it might be stress about the expedition. You were busy with your squad and paperwork. The day of the expedition, you went to see Levi because it had been a while.
“I’ll probably see you during the expedition though, but I wanted to see you before leaving. Good luck out there even though I know you don’t need it.”
Your squad was next to Hange’s and the expedition started. The few years after Wylan’s passing, every time it rained during an expedition you would start to panic and not be as useful as you would usually be. Surprisingly, the survey corps never experienced another storm during an expedition – it always happened before or after it. Therefore, when it started to rain heavily you started to be worried.
“Y/N,” Hange called you, “it’s ok.”
“Yeah.” you whispered, “no one walk away from me.” you ordered to your squad.
As the storm started, Hange’s squad and yours took shelter on high trees leaving your horses under you.
“Are you ok?” Hange asked you.
“Yes. It’s going to calm down soon, and it’ll be good.”
When the storm calmed down, Erwin’s squad passed on your way, so you joined them. After assuring him that no one was injured, you continued to ride on your horse. Erwin, Hange and you were leading the way, but very soon you stopped when you noticed all the blood on the ground.
“Wha – what happened?” you trembled. “Wh – who’s squad…” you got off your horse.
“That’s… the steam from the fallen titans.” Erwin said. “Are there any survivors out there?” Erwin yelled.
When you all approached the steam, you found Levi on his knees next to someone’s head which made you look away.
“Are you the only one left?” Erwin asked, “The corpses of these titans… you did this alone…?”
Levi stared at Erwin before tackling Erwin down of his horse. Mike, Hange and you took out your blades ready to defend Erwin, but he ordered us to stay back. Levi put his blade next to Erwin’s neck before speaking.
“Erwin, I’m going to kill you, you bastard. That’s why I’m here.”
Erwin showed Levi the envelope he kept on him and explained to him what happened.
“Why did you bring us into the corps?”
“Your military prowess…” Erwin started, “And to use you as partners to throw off Lovof…but now, it’s all over.”
Levi pushed on his blade, but Erwin stopped it with his hand.
“Who’s the one that killed my subordinates, your friends. Was it me? Was it you? Do you think that if you had come to attack me together that the two of them would have made it out alive?” Erwin asked, “No! It was the titans!”
Everyone else listened to Erwin’s speech including Levi.
“Fight with the survey corps Levi. Humanity needs your skill!”
The end of that expedition came sooner than you thought. You made sure that your squad members were doing ok then you went back to your room to clean up. You made sure to write a letter to your brother first so he would know that you were still alive and then you decided to go check on Levi.
“Levi?” you knocked on his door, but no one answered. “If you need to talk, I’m here.”
For the next few days, Levi rarely went out of his room. Furlan and him were the only ones sleeping there – meaning no one could bother him. A week after the end of the expedition, Levi came to your room one night.
“Levi.” you put your book down.
“You said… I could talk to you.”
“Of course, you can.” you sat on your bed. “I’m sorry for your loss.” you added as you saw Levi pacing around your room.
“I can’t…I don’t know what to do.” Levi sat next to you. “Whenever someone knocks on my door, I keep hoping it would be one of them.”
“I know…” you paused, “after that, you’ll feel anger.” you hesitated, “Then comes the guilt, thinking what if I was quicker or what if I made a different choice… maybe I could’ve helped. After that, you’ll feel sad. Eventually, it won’t hurt as much as it used to, to talk about them. It’ll get better.”
“How do you know it will get better?”
“It is terrible, but this probably won’t be your last loss. And I –… I lost my best friend a long time ago. It was our first expedition too…”
Levi and you were lying on your bed in silence.
“I can’t sleep.” Levi admitted. “It’s getting lonely in that room.”
“I can stay with you if you want.” you yawned.
“Sorry, I’m keeping you from sleeping – I’ll go.” Levi stood up but you held his hand.
“You can stay here. I don’t mind.” you looked at Levi.
You moved on the inner side of your bed so Levi could lay next to you. Levi did not let go of your hand when he laid down on your bed.
“Goodnight Levi.” you said before falling asleep very quickly.
“Goodnight Y/N.” Levi whispered looking at you.
Levi found himself getting sleepier and when he closed his eyes – for the first time in a long time – he fell asleep without any difficulty. In the middle of the night, you woke up feeling thirsty and noticed that Levi was sleeping. He was still holding your hand which made it impossible for you to get up.
You always have a glass of water ready next to your bed, but you were on the wrong side of the bed. You got up and tried not to wake Levi up or letting go of his hand and drank your water. When you went back to bed, Levi finally let go of your hand and turned on his side – his back against you. You took a deep breath before wrapping your arms around Levi.
Levi was the first one to wake up. You were clinging tightly around Levi which made it impossible for him to move without waking you up.
“Mh, morning.” you mumbled when you woke up.
“Morning.”
“Did you sleep well?” you asked still holding onto Levi.
“Yes, thanks to you.”
“We could do this every night…” you said. “if you want, because…” your cheeks started to heat up.
“Yeah.” Levi breathed.
After a few minutes of staying in bed, you both got up and brushed your teeth and changed into new clothes. You arrived together in the mess hall and when you saw Levi going to eat alone, you held his shirt back.
“Come eat with us.” you pointed at your usual table with Hange, Mike and Erwin.
“No, it’s fine.”
“They don’t mind.” you looked at your friends, “right?”
“We don’t.” Erwin smiled.
You sat next to Levi and while he ate in silence, you were chatting with everyone. Your friends noticed how Levi and you became a lot closer since that day:
-          Levi would often finish eating first, instead of leaving he waited for you to finish eating.
-          You would always come in together in the morning.
-          You would always leave together at night.
-          According to Mike, Levi smelled like you – logic since he slept in your room with you.
“Are they together?” Hange once asked.
“They have to be.” Nanaba said. “Right?”
“Should we ask them?” Hange said.
“You ask them.” Mike suggested.
“No thanks. Oh, here they come,” Hange said, “act natural.”
Everyone suspected you two to be together, but neither Levi nor you said anything about it. Levi and you both had feelings for each other, but no one was brave enough to make the first step. You acted like a couple without really being one.
Two months after this, Jesper paid you a visit which made Levi confused. He did not know Jesper was your brother meaning he thought you were going on a date with someone. At night when you came back, Levi took you to your room.
“I like you.” Levi suddenly admitted. “Please don’t go out with someone else.”
“I – I like you too. A lot.” you smiled.
“So… who was that man?”
“Jesper? He’s my brother!”
“Oh.” Levi looked away embarrassed.
“So, are we a couple now?”
“I’d like that.”
“Me too.”
Yandere! Corrupt Angel! Keigo Takami X Demon! Reader- Episode 1/3: The Same Side Of A Coin
CHECKOUT MY MASTERLIST HERE!
Hey friends.....this is a ride Theres talkings of suicide, sinning, degredation, heaven vs hell and religious themes. You’ve been warned.
Leggo
...
You stood in the middle of the dancefloor, staring around the room. Once a year heaven and hell would come together and host the gala of the century. The Dark One and The Holy One would set aside their differences one day out of the year and host a party bringing both their children together for a huge affair.
Every demon and angel across the nine realms would show up. The beautiful, the ethereal, and the not so beautiful too. You watched as each leader sat respectfully on their thrones.
You watched as The Dark One looked over his people. It was times like this you admired the man. Your soul had mistakenly fallen to the pits of hell when an angel who wouldn’t do their job correctly denied your entry to heaven. You were given special treatment as a result.
The other demons knew you didn’t do anything wrong and they didn’t hold it against you. In fact, the other demons treated you like a kid sister. They never let you near any real demon business.
“Ah, Young Y/N! Come!” The Dark One waved you over. “There’s someone you must meet my child.”
“Yes, Sir!” you gave a thumbs up from the crowd. “Excuse me, Pardon me.” you shimmied through the crowd. You caught the eye of many angels. The other demons spoke highly of you, saying how the feather freaks would be lucky to have you...they were right.
You wore a black gown, with a pretty decorative necklace. Your wrists were decorated in beautiful lace cuffs that matched the rings on your right hand.
“Y/N, my word you look beautiful as ever.” The Dark One praised. “I want you to meet-”
“The Holy One, I know you...my family speaks...spoke-” you corrected yourself. “Highly of you.”
“Y/N, as I live and breathe. Old Goat Face wasn’t kidding.”
“Oh shut up and fix your bedsheet, Cloud Breath.”
You giggled as the two argued like siblings.
“Y/N, I would like to personally apologize. I’m afraid some of my children can be quite...elite about who the let through the gates.”
You remember being thrown down the stairs, falling for a while, then landing next to a lake of lava. Of course that was a while ago.
“It’s okay...not like I was the purest soul in the world anyways.” you shrugged.
“Sin does not define you my child, I’m sure your heart would have landed you here with me had a different angel been working that day.”
That didn’t change the fact that you were booted to hell. No one could change that even if they wanted to.
“Ah! Keigo My boy! Over here!” You watched as The Holy One waves someone over. You kept your eyes on the Dark One.
“How are you holding up, dear?”
“I’m well.” you bowed respectfully. “Sorry for not socializing enough.”
“You have nothing to be sorry about, my dear girl. As long as you are enjoying yourself.”
You smiled, about to reply when a new body came into the picture. A tall man, in a black tuxedo strode up to you, the dark, and the holy One. he was obviously an angel from his golden thin rimmed halo hanging above his head of sandy brown hair. Only instead of white wings, his were blood red. They were unlike any you’ve ever seen before. You had never seen a higher level angel before in the flesh.
“Y/N, Triple 6....this is Keigo.”
“Nice to meet you, man. Don’t let twinkle toes tell you anything about us. Demons aren’t so bad. Y/N here is proof of that.”
“Y/N huh?” you finally met his sharp eyes. His gaze held yours for what felt like an eternity. His smug expression slightly faltered as he stared at you. His lips parted slightly at the sight of you. Never in all his days had he seen such a low level demon hold such a high priestess appearance. “I’m...charmed to meet you.”
“Likewise.” you bowed your head respectfully. You had noticed a few select demons getting near you. All the upper levels seemed to glare at this Keigo person with intense hate and you were positive it wasn’t just because of the color differences.
“You don’t have horns.”
“Excuse me?” you raised an eyebrow.
“You have no horns.” he said again, a smirk teasing his lips.
You moved your hair from in front of your forehead to reveal two little bone-ish stubs. They weren’t sharp, nor prominent like the higher-ups. You remembered the others saying you needed horns that fit you just right. They would grow...eventually.
“Hm, Keigo, Y/N...why don’t you two go on the dancefloor?” The Holy One asked.
“With this asshole? No thanks.” you rolled your eyes. “You think just because your higher up than me, you can disrespect me?” you crossed your arms. (Read more below the break)
...
“Disrespect. Dear girl, it was merely an observation!” he looked amused at your anger.
“Don’t you smile at me.” you seethed. “I know a pompous ass when I see it.”
“Y/N, do try and calm yourself.” The Dark One put a hand on your shoulder. “I’m sure he didn’t mean it with malice.”
“Come on. What do you say.” he held out his hand. He winked.
“Only because I refuse to say no to a God twice.” you seethed.
Everyone watched as Keigo, wings spread crossed the dancefloor with you on his arm. You obviously weren’t too happy, given your first impression had already down down the drain.
He’d better not touch Y/N if he knows what’d good for him,
Keigo of all people, dancing with a demon doesn’t surprise me.
You tried to ignore the gossip as a hand rested at the base of your spine. Keigo looked down at you, his smugness unwavering as he began move with you to the music. It was a low, slow jazzy tune with what could be described as a ‘sensual piano’ melody.
“I really didn’t mean it the way you took it, doll.” he whispered in your ear. “But you’ve got fire, I respect that.”
“I..I’m sorry.” you sighed. “I’m just...used to people degrading me because-”
“This is so new to you.” he finished, his smile slightly faltering. “I was like that too, thousands of years ago.”
“Well I’m on year two so-” you scoffed. “It’s not that bad...I guess. Hell isn’t as bad as the books say it is.”
“Well heaven isn’t all clouds and rainbows either, doll. I’ve been banished so many times I’ve lost count.”
“Banished? I don’t understand.” you tilted your head to the side.
Keigo could see what was left of your innocent aura hanging around you. Most people who fell into the pits of hell were already long gone with no trace of human emotion or attachment. You...were different. It reminded him of...himself once upon a time.
“I’ve gone rogue. They tried to restrain me but they give keep giving me chances.” he shook his head. “That’s the think about the Cloud Kingdom, dear. They refuse to believe there are bad people in the world.”
“Is that why...your wings are-”
‘No...that’s more of a stylistic choice...can’t let all those souls go to waste can I?” he winked. “Red suits me don’t you think.”
“Y-yes.” you replied honestly, finding it hard to lie.
“So what about you?” he raised an eyebrow. Among the hum of the other patrons and the music, not to mention your demonic heart thumping loudly against your chest you felt Keigo’s breath on the shell of your ear. It was like he was telling you a secret. “What brings you to the pits...killing an ant by accident?”
“My application for the gates was apparently denied.”
“No why would that be.” you don’t look like the type to sin.
“Trust me.” you shook your head. “I’ve sinned more times than I can count...I guess putting a bullet in my head was the last straw.”
Keigo’s breath hitched in his throat as you told your story. You...you shot yourself? Such a small thing? You weren’t a murderer, or god forbid anything else. He felt himself silently fill with rage. You had the glow of an angel that was for sure.
“I’ve come to terms with it. Guess I wasn’t worthy.” you shrugged.
“You are always worthy.” he abruptly cut you off. “It’s these white wear wearing, cloud riding fuckers that aren’t worthy.” he seethed. ‘What other sins could you have possibly committed.”
“...The Dark One hasn’t told you?...I’m a lust demon in training.” you explained. “I used sex to fill voids when I was alive. When I couldn’t replace my pain with pleasure...kapow!” you put your fingers to your head and faked a gunshot.
“Lust demon?” Keigo raised an eyebrow. “That explains why you look so sexy tonight.” he flirted.
“Are you hitting on me?” your eyes widened.
“Depends. Do you like it?”
You hadn’t noticed that Keigo body was flush against yours. Skin to skin. You felt warm, scorching hot beneath him. That was the demon fire.
“Y-yeah.” you nodded. “I do...wow-” you stepped back from him and fanned yourself.
“Is everything alright?” Keigo stepped forward and laced his hands in yours.
“What have you done to our sister?” a high priestess demoness waltzed up. She glared at Keigo who seemed unfazed, only raising an eyebrow. “Y/N, Dear are you alright?”
“I don’t know.” your chest heaved. “I feel- so...” you partially moaned.
“What has this angel scum done to our sister.” a male demon stormed up. He unfurled his dragon-esque wings. “Sister Y/N, say something.”
“I need air...I have to go outside.” you immediately walked away. Keigo, in a confused state watched you walk away.
“Sister Y/N is unwell! We must go after her.”
“She’ll be fine, we’ll know if she’s in trouble.”
Call it instinct, but he had to follow you.
