- Scythe’s dates are usually really fancy dinners or saloons, quite different but you don’t mind since she’s usually a lot sweeter on your dates, more lovey at fancy restaurants and more protective and touchy at saloons, speaking of no one could lay a finger on you or she will cut that finger off and feed it to them, she can and will murder anyone she views as trying to flirt with you or harass you, it’s sweet in a very messed up way

Colors of You: Chapter 2 - A Visit to the Stranger Things Set

“So Joseph, are you a country music fan now?” Joe Keery asked.

“Why would you say that?” 

“The way you looked at her dude. I’m surprised you didn’t ask for her number then and there.” 

“You know I’m not like that,” Joseph replied. 

“Well we were all around. Maybe you can talk to her tomorrow? She seems to be a fan of yours,” Natalia added. 

“Maybe.” Joseph replied. There was something about her coming to the set that made him nervous, but maybe it was because his friends were right, he did think she was gorgeous. 

The next morning, Whitney and Stacey got to the Stranger Things set in the late morning. By then they were well into filming and everyone was in costume. 

“Whitney!” She heard Sadie say.

“Hi!” She answered, hugging her. “This is crazy. I mean I’ve watched the show, but seeing it in person is something else.” 

“The finished product is even better,” Sadie joked. 

Meanwhile across the set, Joseph, Natalia, Joe and Maya were huddled in a group going over the scene. They heard Sadie say something and it made them all turn their heads. 

“There’s your girl,” Joe joked, elbowing Joseph. He looked over at her and realized she was just as stunning in the daylight than on stage. She had on denim shorts and a white bodysuit with converse. She seemed so normal and not like all the over the top pop stars. He noticed they were walking their way. 

“Everyone, you remember Whitney and her Manager Stacey,” Sadie said.

“Best friend Stacey,” Stacey added. Whitney nudged her friend. 

“All right everyone, get staged,” the director yelled. Stacey and Whitney stood back as everyone got into their positions in a trailer. 

Whitney stared at Joseph. She had loved him in season 4, but now being here for filming of the final season was unreal and seeing him in person and knowing he was back in season 5 before everyone else did, was amazing. 

“Girl, I think you have some drool there,” Stacey said with a laugh, knowing her best friend had to be in love with Joseph Quinn. “Are you going to ask him?” 

“Ask him what?” Whitney asked.

“You know, to be the love interest in your music video. You were pretty adamant about it the other night.” 

“I literally just met him.” 

“But you’re already drooling over him. Girl please, I’m your best friend, I know these things.” 

“Fine, if the moment presents itself I will.” 

“That’s my girl.” 

They filmed for a few more sequences before they took a break. Joseph went over to grab some water as Stacey saw her friend’s opportunity and practically pushed her his direction. 

“Great job Joseph,” Whitney said, walking up next to him. 

“Thank you,” he replied with a smile, his British accent coming back. 

“Um, so listen, I know this sounds straightforward and maybe crazy, but I’m filming a music video down here for my new single. We need a love interest and I was wondering if you wanted to be in my music video? If you have a girlfriend who would get upset, I totally understand you turning it down.” 

Whitney watched his brown eyes meet hers and there was a hint of surprise there. “You want me to be in your music video?” 

“Only if you want to. It’s no pressure if you don’t,” she replied, shrugging. 

“I have to ask, why me?” He asked.

“She thinks you’re hot,” Stacey said walking by them. Whitney turned bright red and covered her face with her hands. 

“It’s ok, my mates are just as bad. I’d love to be in your music video. Also, I don’t have a girlfriend at home who would get angry, so we’re good.” 

“Awesome. Oh god, did I say that out loud,” she said. 

“Yes, but it’s ok,” he said with a laugh. “Let my assistant know when you’re thinking and we can work around my filming schedule here.” 

“Thanks Joe, can’t wait.” Whitney began to walk off. 

“Whitney, wait,” he started. “Could I get your number? Might be easier to get a hold of you.” 

“You could have just said you wanted my number,” Whitney replied with a smile. Joseph pulled his phone out of the jacket he was wearing and handed it over to her. She typed her number in and handed the phone back to him. 

“Thanks,” he said. 

“Joseph, we need you on set.” 

“That’s your cue,” Whitney said. 

“I’ll text you later in case you have to leave before I get done filming.” 

“Ok,” she smiled. Joseph walked on set and Stacey joined her best friend again. “Don’t you dare start.”

“Wasn’t going to, but I told you so.”

It was late, almost midnight and the part was still going. It was at the sky casino, hundreds of guests were gambling and wasting their life's away like it was nothing. They were all drunk and happy, they were having fun and that's all that matter. You were the co manager of the sky casino, your boyfriend is also the manager known as Sigma. Everyone admires him, he's amazing, kind, charming, and smart. Your co worker Nikolai from the decay of angles wanted to throw a party and used Sigmas "hard work" as an excuse to get drunk.

"Why not let loose? You've been working so hard, why not throw a party and relax? It'll be fun!!" Nikolai convinces him. Sigma was exhausted, but he thought about his guests rather than himself. He didn't want to bore them, nor did he want them to be disappointed. "I don't see why not. Fine, but for the love of God don't get wasted." Sigma begged, Nikolai is quite colorful and interesting when he's drunk. "Oh please, I don't get wasted!!" Nikolai does, he likes to chug away whenever he sees alcohol. "Nikolai, last time you were making out with a man and almost had sex with him." You said plainly, you weren't interested in seeing that again considering it was pretty awkward. Nikolai was making out with a guy half naked while being in the janitors closet, whats worse is that you had to see Fyodor witness it as you both found them wasted.

Nikolai huffs and snapped back at you guys as he didn't want to admit it was true, "I was not!! I must've thought it was a woman or....idk??" He scratched his head confusingly while thinking about that time. It was a costume party and somehow the girl he was with turns out to be a guy. The guy he was with swapped costumes with his sister because the man is too overly protective of her, he would do anything to keep her from getting all touchy touchy with a clown.

"Not gonna lie, that was funny." You spoke out, muffling the giggles that were threatening to come out. "Shut up!!" Nikolai was going to slap you but remembered, you aren't just any bitch, you Sigma's bitch. He held himself back and gave you two a friendly smile. "I'll be off then, see you at the party." He skips off to God who knows where as you two just stood there in silence.

Now here you are, sitting at a table and enjoying your night. Nikolai was wasted once again and he started gambling non stop, but of course, he was cheating.

"Looks like Nikolai is having fun." A voice said with a thick accent. "Oh, Hello fyodor." You didn't expect him to be here, he's usually busy with work, not to mention he's tired all the time. "Mind if I sit here?" Fyodor asked, "I don't mind, no need to ask." You answered. Fyodor sat down next to you and made himself comfortable. As strange as it is to have Fyodor be here, it didnt matter to you that much since you were only focusing on the guests. You wanted to make sure nothing was wrong, and if there was, you wouldn't want Sigma to deal with it. "You seem tense." Fyodor pointed out, snapping you out of your thoughts. Not only do you get anxious as party's, but also intend to space out as well and tense up. "I'm not tense, everything is fine, I assure you." You said nervously. Fyodor was buying it, but didn't want to push it further, he knows how you are when anxious. "It's best to let yourself enjoy this, Sigma wouldn't like it if you were constantly worrying." He said, that is true. You wouldn't want Sigma to catch you worrying. You took a deep breath and exhale, trying to calm yourself down. "Thank you for the reminder, Fyodor." You thanked him and he just hums in response.

The music stopped playing, meaning that the next song was going to start any second now. It was Sway by Michael Bublé. Something caught your attention from the corner of your eye, you turn around to see a handsome man dressed in a black suit with amazing designs on it, it was Sigma. You watch him walk down the stairs and the sight of him makes you breathless. He makes his way towards you with a big smile on his face. "Oh Y/n, you look wonderful!" He complimented, admiring the sight of you wearing your black dress. You blushed as the compliment, every comment you get from your boyfriend makes you blush. "Thanks, love. You look amazing as well." You complimented back. The music began to play and everything started dancing. It was just you three that wasn't on the dance floor, Fyodor prefers to sit down and be lonely as usual. Sigma holds his gloved hand out to you, meaning he wants to join the fun. You were a little hesitant but gladly accepted, taking his hand before he slowly got you up. You both made your way to the dance floor and began to have fun, dancing to your hearts content.

You guys danced and danced, it was like it's never going to end. Later on you both stood outside on the Balcony, giggling like a bunch of teenagers. "Did you see Nikolai? He thought that woman was a bear!" You laughed hard with Sigma. "He also got rejected and had a man rock him like a baby!" Sigma laughed even harder, eventually you both calmed down after losing your breath for a min. You both enjoyed each other's presence as you stare into the night sky. "It's beautiful." Sigma points out. You smile to yourself as you keep looking at the sky, "it is." You agreed. Sigma looked away from the sky to look at your direction, smiling softly at you. "Yep, just like you" He said. You look back at him and couldn't help but smile from his sweet compliment. "Thanks love, you too." You said back, Sigma giggled and pulled you by the waist before worshipping you. He kisses your face, your neck, shoulders, and hands. Sigma was madly in love with you, he couldn't ask for a better girlfriend. You giggled and cupped his cheeks, you got lost in his eyes and didn't realize how close you were getting to his face. He closes the gap between you too and presses his lips against yours, you kiss him back and it turns into a make out session. You both began to lose air but didn't care as you both make out passionately, his lips were just too addicting that you don't want to stop.

Eventually you both break apart from the kiss and try to catch your breaths, it was intense but very enjoyable. The music gotten louder as it changed to a different tune, it was your favorite song and you couldn't miss it. When both of you finally were able to breathe properly, Sigma offers his hand for you to take and you gladly accept.

I am soooo sorry this took so long! I was plotting for so long that I sorta got side tracked and ended up writing some other things, but finally got to this! I hope you enjoy this because I had such a fun time write it! Again I'm so sorry it took me so long! Enjoy! ~~~

“Good morning, friend, how are you?” Pathfinder said as he had walked down the hall past y/n’s room. Octane peaking in as he blushed, feeling embarrassed for what could only be spying, but was trying to figure out what y/n was doing as they were making a lot of noise inside their room. Octane waving Pathfinder to be a little quiet as he pointed and saw that y/n was standing in front of the mirror. Their h/l h/c hair framing their face quite nicely and their e/c colored eyes just staring at the mirror as if they were really focusing on whatever they were doing. 

“Think they’re okay?” Octane asked as he saw y/n talking. He couldn’t really hear what they were saying but the way they were jumping around and laughing it sounded like they were having a good time. 

“I would believe so! They look like they are having fun! Shall we go join them?” Pathfinder asked as Octane shook his head no, “No, I don’t want to spook them. They always go quiet whenever I’m around them and seeing that their pretty vocal while alone is nice. I just wish they would talk to me more when we're not in the games or this whole friendship is going to be a bust.” Octane said as Pathfinder frowned a little. The two of them watching from the doorway as y/n spoke for the first time since jumping around and this time it made Octane blush a little.

"I like the wind in my hair, bugs in my teeth, and long walks off a high cliff." y/n mimicked Octane as they ran a hand through their hair, a finger against their teeth, and pretended to fall from a cliff as they landed on their bed with a laugh. Their laugh sorta musical as Octane noted that they did a pretty good job at pretending to be him.

“Surprise! ..I hope I didn't scare you." y/n said a few seconds later as they moved from the bed back to the mirror. Their smile pretty large by this point as someone had a lot of energy in them.

“Wow, that was amazing. They’re doing a good job at pretending to be us.” Pathfinder said as Octane nodded, “I wonder how long they’ll do this until they realize they’re not alone.” Octane asked as they both turned back and looked over at y/n once more. They were aiming their arm up into the air as if they had a grappling hook and then pulled a trigger pretending to swing from it and spoke in what both boys thought could be Pathfinder’s voice.

"Get ready! I'm coming for you, friend." 

“Think they like us or something?” Octane asked as he glanced at Pathfinder, “Or maybe they want to be like us?” 

Pathfinder shrugged his shoulders. The two of them watching y/n more as Lifeline came out of her room and noticed the two of them spying on poor little y/n.

“What are you two up too?” Lifeline asked as Octane waved her to be quiet like he did to Pathfinder not too long ago.

“We're watching, keep it down, Che.” Octane said as Lifeline peaked in feeling horrible for entering y/n’s personal space without saying something. y/n was once again bouncing around the room, dancing in front of the mirror like she was all by herself and what looked to be a pen that was laying on y/n’s dresser got pressed against their chest as if they were stimming theirselves.

"Mira, did you see that?! Please, tell me if somebody saw that." y/n said in what sounded like a really bad hispanic accent. They started once again bouncing around and this time when they turned they saw all three of them standing in the doorway and on que their eyes grew three times the normal size, “H-how long-g have you-u all been watching?” they stuttered as they dropped the pen and covered their face too hopefully to hide from their embarrassment. 

“No-t-t that long! Just heard some noise and wanted to make sure you were okay!” Octane spoke first as he didn’t know if talking was really a good idea or if he should just head out and pretend this little thing never happened.

“What did you all hear?” y/n asked as their face was beat red. They really didn’t want to hear what their answer was but was curious nonetheless.

“Majority of it. You did such a good job pretending to be me.” Pathfinder said as he showed a heart on the screen that was laying against his chest. He even did a thumbs up as he was super proud.

“And you, Che, how much did you hear?” 

“Not a whole lot. I was coming out of my room when I saw these two peeking in, are you okay?” Lifeline asked as she wanted to make sure y/n wasn’t hurt or scared that the two were practically spying on her.

“Yeah-h I guess? I dunno?” y/n said as they didn’t know what to think about the whole thing. Sure they left their door open, but their room was so hot. They wanted to leave the door open so the cool hair from the hall could seep in.

“Do you need me to kick their ass?” Lifeline asked in a joking tone.

y/n shook their head, “No, its okay. I’ll just make sure I keep a mental note the next time the door is open to check so often so people aren’t peeking in. Did you at least enjoy the show?” y/n asked as Octane was still beet red.

“You were incredible!” Octane smiled as he spoke some more, “You should mimic me more often!” 

Lifeline smacked the back of his head as she shook it side to side. y/n began to laugh as both Octane and Pathfinder smiled, “Well, now that we're all better and everyone has said their sorry, shall we all go get lunch?” Lifeline asked as Octane’s stomach growled.

“Yeah! Lunch sounds perfect!” y/n smiled as Octane started jumping around the small group.

“I’ll race you to LZ!” 

“Not if I beat you first!” y/n said as Octane and y/n ran off. Pathfinder and Lifeline behind them as they all headed out to lunch. The group just laughing away as this was the perfect way to end this encounter.

Review: The Last Airbender Episode 1 - “Aang”

“Long ago, the four nations lived in harm-”

Lol nope. What is it with writers these days fumbling exposition? You had a template, and you botched it.

I nitpicked the heck out of Disney’s Percy Jackson because if you say you’re going to adapt a book, it’s not a very far leap in logic to hope the script might follow said book. But aside from the likes of Twilight, following the source material as it was written never happens.

Netflix had an even easier job. Netflix already had the show they were adapting in a visual medium. Netflix could have gone two ways with this: Shot-for-shot remake just with live action actors, or with an “inspired by” vibe that takes familiar characters, story beats, and themes but tries to make something new with their shameless cash grab.

So, they wanted to take a beloved children’s cartoon and make it gritty and realistic… okay. Sure. No one asked for that and it shouldn’t be embarrassing for any adult to sit down and *gasp* watch a cartoon. For kids.

The original remains amazing, top-tier storytelling, so instead of these reviews stating the obvious “original did X better, why didn’t they do it that way?” we’ll look at the show as if the original didn’t exist… unless it just goes the route of Disney and Amazon and slaps a famous IP on the title screen without making any attempt to stay true to the original just to get butts in seats.

We open 100 years ago in Caldera (renamed generic Capital City) with a pretty decent fight scene and special effects. The choreography is solid, the tone is way darker – and so is the lighting, I had to shut the blinds and turn my laptop brightness all the way up – and it establishes pretty quickly that this is Not Your Kids Cartoon Anymore, even if the fight is bloodless.

*Side note: That no one has a Japanese accent in the Fire Nation is… surprising? I know it’s not actual Japan, I know the original didn’t have any accents, but that they’re going for the whole “gritty realism” vibe and didn’t white-wash the cast, not giving them any accent feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Just the adults, even. Iroh had an accent in the cartoon.

The costumes are also amazing. The original is still a feat of animation but being able to see all the ornate detail in the costumes, particularly in the Fire Nation, is fantastic. The Water Tribe costumes don’t feel quite so lived-in. The colors are still vibrant, there’s no stains, no wear. They don’t reflect the weariness of a remote village still suffering the effects of a hundred-year-long war. Zuko’s scar doesn’t feel quite as gnarly as it could be, more like a very bad bruise and not the remnants of a 3rd degree burn (but at least it’s not on the wrong side). He still has his entire eyebrow and full visibility.

Sozin is amazing, too. Right off the bat he’s shown as clever, cunning, and violent. The original was limited by Nickelodeon’s censorship, so even though it was a kids’ show and they did amazing still scaring kids without showing the violence (like a graphic depiction of Zuko getting his scar), these are firebenders, and fire burns.

… Though if you’re twelve and watching this expecting a fun adventure, watching a man get burned alive in the first 5 minutes wakes you up right quick. I heard a rumor that they wanted to fill the Game of Thrones vacuum and, yeah, they went for it.

Is there a reason they didn’t lift the original opening narration straight from the old script? It was fine! It’s iconic! This feels like a student cracked open a thesaurus for their essay just to sound smarter. Gran Gran gets to deliver it and that is an... interesting choice.

They did salvage some of the original music, and hearing Aang’s theme and the foreboding horns of the Fire Nation theme redone was ear candy, along with the Sun Warrior chant in the end credits. During Aang’s escape from Zuko’s ship, however, the score sounded uncannily like the battle music from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. 

*Side side note: One nitpick. One little nitpick, I think I’m allowed. Aang cannot fly without his staff. It’s a convenient and logical cap on his abilities and there was no reason to not keep it in.

On the one hand, opening the series with the Air Nomad genocide establishes immediately that the Fire Nation is led by an evil warmonger. On the other hand, slowly weaving in that exposition over the first few episodes, culminating with “The Storm” took what we thought was a lighthearted adventure and made it so much more. That reveal in “The Storm” still makes it one of the best episodes of the show.

Gyatso is perfect. The casting is perfect. “Gritty realism” or not, they did their homework on Gyatso. The only voice actor that left a hole not-quite filled is Iroh’s. He doesn’t quite sound like the wizened old sage, just… a guy. Through no fault of his actor’s, he’s solid, he’s just not quite Iroh.

While the worldbuilding is fine and all the extra additions in the beginning are entertaining… the original cartoon was limited to a cable-bound, 30-minute time slot, with commercials. They did their best to pack as much as they could within that time limit for every episode and you weren’t left wanting. It was also animated and every single frame cost money to draw. Creativity thrives in a box and not having endless Netflix money forced them to do the best with what they had.

With all this room and time to kill on Netflix it loses that tightly-woven polish. Scenes linger and add in dialogue that could have been concise and short. This show marinates, where the original was multitasking in every shot – developing the characters, the world, the story, the lore, the relationships.

In the time it took an entire animated episode, this show front-loaded all the exposition and mysteries to be slowly teased and solved through the first half of the season. We’re not left wondering how Aang survived the Air Nomad massacre. We’re not wondering why he wasn’t there, we’re not wondering who he is and slowly learning him with each episode. Curious now if the “The Storm” episode will even exist.

When Aang takes Sokka and Katara to the Southern Air Temple, neither know exactly what happened beyond that it was bad, and Aang has no clue his people have been destroyed, that it’s been 100 years. This time, the trio and the audience already have that information so the oomph of seeing the aftermath, of seeing Gyatso, doesn’t hit as hard as it should.

The themes, the personalities, the motivations of the characters so far still feel like them, even with all the extra fluff. Aang remains a reluctant chosen one, a twelve-year old with too much responsibility on his shoulders – even if he explicitly ran away after eavesdropping on Gyato’s conversation about sending him away and didn’t just happen to be gone while his home was destroyed.

Everyone except Iroh, which is a shame. He reads less as a “concerned surrogate father figure trying to raise an angsty, bratty, entitled teenager” and more “old man who’s too old for his nephew’s BS so he patronizes instead of showing any genuine support.”

About the only major element that didn’t get the love it deserves is the humor. Aang’s abrupt “will you go penguin sledding with me?” right after he wakes up is just one of many missing lines. Game of Thrones had plenty of funny characters, a show can be gritty *and* funny and he’s still twelve, he’s allowed to be a little cringey and ridiculous.

For a shameless cash grab remake that lost the original writers and took forever to finally air, this is a lot better than I expected it to be. The script isn’t perfect and there’s some lines that aren’t well-executed, but no actor phoned in their performance and visually it looks amazing. The writers did their homework and, so far, even if they refuse to make it a kids’ show, they’re still making Avatar: The Last Airbender.

We follow her and her father as they travel around the world for Annette to race and perform in carnival shows, working her way up to the famous Hippodrome in New York City. 

My Rating (out of five stars): *** ½ 

Like Esther Williams’ other film in 1952, Skirts Ahoy!, this was pretty uneven in terms of quality, but it was always enjoyable. It wasn’t filled with as much silly fun as Skirt’s Ahoy!, but it had several jaw-dropping musical swimming numbers. The biography aspect of this pioneering woman was great as well. If you like Esther Williams, you’ll like this movie, even if it’s not a masterpiece. 

The Good: 

The musical swimming numbers! Everything about them was lavish, gorgeous, and a splendor for the eyes. The costumes, the color, the staging, the framing, etc... I want to go back and rewatch them. They are so unique- where else in Hollywood could you find musicals with swimming and diving? 

The Technicolor. I’m going to run out of adjectives because gorgeous, vivid, luscious, and rich are all words I use over and over. 

Esther Williams. She’s not an amazing actress, but she has such warmth and charisma about her, and she’s so beautiful it makes you weak in the knees. I still love the fact that she has more of an athlete's body than a typical Hollywood bombshell’s. Her shoulders are broader, her waist is thicker, her thighs are bigger and stronger... all of which made me swoon even more. I love her speaking voice as well- it's so soothing. 

Walter Pidgeon as Annette’s father. He was just the kind of father you’d hope for, and Pidgeon had the usual appealing power of his presence as an actor. 

Learning the biography of Annette Kellerman. She seems like a pretty cool boundary pusher in the early 20th century. She got a lot of attention for wearing a one-piece bathing suit, rather than the skirts and pantaloons women of the time wore. There is no way a swimmer could be competitive in swimwear like that! 

The historical aspects, especially with how female athletes were viewed and treated. 

The Bad: 

I didn’t really like Victor Mature or his character. He is portrayed as a total huckster, and I just didn’t find it appealing at all. I hope Kellerman’s husband in real life wasn’t like that. 

I didn’t like the other guy in the love triangle either. He was kind of boring and not very attractive. Why can’t they find some good men for Esther?! She deserves better!  

Sometimes there was too much drama and not enough fun. Williams is not an especially great dramatic actress (no matter how much I love her!), so I prefer her in more light-hearted stuff. I thought she was perfect in Skirts Ahoy!, for example. 

I wish the musical numbers were more spread out. I understand why we didn’t really get musical numbers until Kellerman started performing at the Hippodrome, because it fit with the story, but I wished we could have had one of the numbers earlier. 

I gripe a lot about accents, so I cannot, in all fairness, neglect to mention that Kellerman and her father were Australian, yet she had an American accent, and her father had a Mid-Atlantic accent. I didn’t really mind it, though, because I think it would have been distracting if Williams tried to do an Aussie accent!

Yep I think you told me that before but that sucks. I think it came out how many songs were in the movie so people were trying to figure out what was cut. I don't know the songs that well to make a guess honestly but if you have any idea, you can say it here. I think they could get rid of whose house is this but a lot of the songs could possibly feel unnecessary anyway since people already know the movie. There's a few I wouldn't care about them cutting I guess..i could see Cautionary Tale, Sexy and I find more is always better pretty boring lol. I hope the movie is still good though. I know most people still don't know it was based on the musical and it's similar with The Color Purple actually and Wonka. I think Wonka got kinda good reviews but I'm not sure I will go watch it yet.

I know! And I also enjoy Snow on the Beach quite a bit. My sister freaked out when the collab was announced haha. It was definitely one of the songs that stood out on a first listen to me and you can definitely hear Lana's influence on it. That's also similar to how Electric Touch sounds like Fall Out Boy too. It kinda sounds like a Lana song. I still prefer the original version compared to more Lana because of the dreamy outro though. Are you also a fan of Lana and do you listen to her? Oh that's so awful! It makes sense why you would dislike it now. When did you see it on tour? Have you just been holding a grudge against CATS for years? At least it wasn't at one of your favorite musicals! Also are you a cat lover? I'm not as much as Taylor but I do like them. I think La La Land just feels like a modern version of a classic old movie musical and I like how many references there are. Also I know people said they couldn't sing, but Emma was in Cabaret on Broadway and now Ryan sang in Barbie. I liked the setup and structure of it. I like the simple story of two people reaching for their dream. It reminds me of the same concept of Dorothea or Midnight Rain too..which we have talked about. I also like comparing it to The Last Five Years and a Star is Born too which have some similarities and differences. I also loved those two films so much and they all revolve around couples who don't work out lol. But you know by now that I just like to compare things, like with books, so maybe that's why.

I actually got a few books yesterday for a quarter each. One of them was Get a Life, Chloe Brown which I have heard I think good reviews of. I wanted to know if you've read it. Another one was by the same author of The Virgin Suicides and I love that movie so much. I also got book by the same author of Big Little Lies and I have another one of her books on my shelf so I thought it might be a good pair. I haven't actually seen Big Little Lies and I'm not a mystery reader lol so I'll have to see. Another thing you should know about me is that I absolutely love sitcoms. That and teen dramas and baking shows are usually the shows I watch. so I also got Mindy Kalings book and Matthew Perry's book...RIP which I thought was a pretty good deal. Also it was announced the other day that Captain Holt from B99 passed away. :( I also have Anna Kendricks and Andrew Rannells books on my shelf too and wanted to possibly read Im Glad my mom died and I was in the middle of Crying in Hmart before too. I honestly don't know why I buy more when so many are already on my list.

Well we have a lot of the same Folklore favorites and less on Evermore I guess. I still like debut..I just never play it anymore. That doesn't mean it's bad..it's just that she's gotten better compared to debut's lyrics which are more simple. plus I don't wanna flash back to being 12 all the time lol and I didn't even play the full album until I was like 20. but my favorite songs on the album are songs I really love a lot. But I definitely have a soft spot for it cuz that's what made me love her in the first place. I would argue Fearless is one of her best albums too for bringing something new to country music. I was never a fan of country but she made me a fan of it anyway and that's important too. All of her albums mean something different to me. I put rep next cuz there isn't a song that I dislike and I connect with the meaning or feeling of the album the most. I know she said the old Taylor was dead on the album, but to me it was like she was coming back to me cuz I didn't connect to 1989. I do wonder if the vault tracks will lean into that more which will make me love it more. I almost feel disconnected to her in a similar way right now but I don't really know why and I'm hoping Rep TV helps. hello, friend!! it was really, really fun! a fun fact about me is that i used to have a blend of a british-australian-irish accent (a product of going to international school and having british, australian and irish teachers) but then i very quickly dropped it after i moved here! i actually sent a childhood friend a voice memo the other day — which was the first time he's heard my voice in like, fifteen years — and he was shocked at how "american" i sound. i am terrible at doing accents just for fun though!
