Judges' Remarks: This was a fun and original way to retell the story: in Spanish, with helpful English subtitles! The movie manages to mention most of the major plot points of the book, and the performances are lively and emotionally authentic-feeling. There was a smart use of green screen to represent the various settings, and I was amused at how the bully kid—in the book he was referred to as Danny, or "Yard Ape"—is here portrayed by an actual green stuffed ape! (I particularly liked his mischievous cackling.) Competent cinematography, brisk editing, and solid performances all made this a standout!
