Sinopsis: Cuando Jessica se muda de regreso a la casa de su infancia, su hijastra Alice desarrolla un apego inquietante con un oso de peluche llamado Chauncey que encontró en su sótano. Alice died before the portrait was completed, and Angeli based her likeness after a study of her he had painted earlier in the year. Queen Victoria was pleased with the result, writing that "The dear family picture is a great delight & comfort to me & so wonderfully – splendidly painted & grouped – so very like. I think Ella's expression is just hers & Ernie's an expression he very often has."

Les derniers jours de Jérusalem

Alix se tenait devant la tombe de Baudouin IV de Jérusalem, le cœur lourd et les larmes aux yeux. Elle se rappelait avec émotion son ami d'enfance, l'amour de sa vie, celui qui avait été roi à un si jeune âge et qui avait lutté avec tant de courage contre la maladie qui le dévorait.

Alors que la ville de Jérusalem était assiégée par Saladin et que les combats faisaient rage depuis trois jours, Alix ne pouvait s'empêcher de penser à ce que Baudouin aurait fait dans une telle situation. Elle savait qu'il aurait cherché à protéger son peuple, à sauver autant de vies que possible.

Mais alors que Balian d'Ibelin était sur le point de négocier la reddition de Jérusalem avec Saladin, Alix sentait le poids de la déception de Baudouin. Elle savait qu'il aurait été fier de voir que la ville serait épargnée, mais elle savait aussi qu'il aurait été attristé de voir son précieux royaume tomber aux mains de l'ennemi.

Alix posa une rose sur la tombe de Baudouin et murmura une prière pour son âme, pour qu'il repose en paix aux côtés des anges. Elle sentit alors une main se poser doucement sur son épaule, et se retourna pour voir Balian d'Ibelin, le défenseur de Jérusalem, qui lui offrit un sourire triste mais rassurant.

"Nous avons fait ce que nous pouvions, Alix", dit-il doucement. "Nous avons préservé la vie de nos frères et sœurs, de nos enfants. C'est ce que Baudouin aurait voulu."

Alix hocha la tête, les larmes coulant librement sur son visage. Elle savait que Baudouin aurait été d'accord avec Balian, qu'il aurait compris les sacrifices qui avaient dû être faits pour sauver la ville. Mais son cœur restait lourd de chagrin pour son roi bien-aimé, parti trop tôt à cause de la maladie qui l'avait consumé.

Alors qu'elle se tenait là, devant la tombe de Baudouin IV de Jérusalem, regardant autour d'elle la ville qui avait été le joyau de son royaume, Alix jura de continuer à se battre, à honorer la mémoire de son roi, de son ami, de son amour. Et elle savait qu'où qu'il soit, Baudouin veillait sur elle, sur eux tous, avec fierté et amour.

Because I'm back into the fandom, Interview with the vampire, by Anne Rice. One of my favourite books and the one who got me into the VC fandom.

The Fellowship of The Ring, by JRR Tolkien.

I tried Sombres citrouilles by Malika Ferdjoukh for Halloween a couple of years ago, and couldn't finish it. I just couldn't get into it.

La variante du dragon, by Christophe Lambert, where a young Jew has to best a German officer to chess during WWII to get him to reveal his secrets.

8) A favorite book from childhood:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I didn't read much when I was a child, and I can't deny HP was the book series that got me into reading when I was 11 or 12.

9) A book you would give to a friend:

It depends on the friend, but maybe And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, because it's a classic which doesn't disappoint.

10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own

I don't read poetry.

11) A nonfiction book you own:

Archives des anges by Alix de Saint-André. It's funny and it's interesting and it talks about angels.

The first book of The Memoirs of Cleopatra, by Margaret George.

The third book of Dinosaurs Sanctuary, a manga series about dinosaurs.

Also if you are accepting name proposals for them, what do you think about Ange (neutral, French in use and related to Angel) or Alix (neutral, also French and is related to Alexander/Alexis which is related to Alister/Alistair, which are for some reason really common mistypings of Alastor's name. Oh, and also those names generally mean "defender"!)
