“Womxn are chingonas y brujas de nacimiento. This space is dedicated to all the sisters that have always wanted to share word, song, art and medicine with out being brutally criticized, cat called, disrespected, and humiliated. Open Mic spaces are notorious for not holding space for womxn when it comes to sharing the mic. So this night will be for womxm by womxn. Why Bruja? Womxn that often speak up, create change, create art, live life on their own term are often called Bruja! Bruja because she does not fit the status quo that so many think womxn should live by. Bruja because she takes time to love herself. Bruja because she believes in herself. Why Chingona? Chingona because from the very minute we are giving our identity of muxer, womxn, girl, she, her, we have to fight.
