BROKEN DECISIONS: HEALING| T.WOLFF
Pairing; Toto Wolff x fem!Schumacher!reader
Summary; You had learned to channel the pain from Toto’s actions into the need to protect and love your child. You were healing but will that be affected by Toto finding out the reason you suddenly disappeared?
Warnings; Age gap mentioned but not specified. Fluff.
Author’s Note; I know I said I’d post a Seb fic before this but this was so much easier to write and I had a lot more motivation for this. Possibly a part 3 if you want.
F1 Master List, Part 1
September 2024
The pain that had consumed you so overwhelmingly all those months ago had seemingly disappeared as you stared down at your daughter who lay in your lap, eyes closed as she slept peacefully, subtle puffs of air released as her chest raised every few seconds.
The thick tufts of bright white hair that sprouted from her head marked that little Alina Elisabeth was most certainly a Schumacher.
Maybe you should feel guilty for the relief that settled in you at the lack of resemblance she shared with her father but the love you felt in your heart as you stared down at the person you cared the most for in this world shrouded any negative emotion you could possibly feel.
The loneliness you had felt was also no longer lingering in your chest, your family had been your rock since the moment you arrived in Switzerland, your mother especially. Mick ensured her was there for you too, even though he was busy with the world endurance racing, he made sure he called frequently and tried to visit when he could.
You sent him a photo of his new niece as soon as you could after giving birth to her and he was already besotted and excited to meet her.
The pain from birthing her had also long been forgotten, unlike the memory of holding her for the first time.
It was hard to describe the rush of emotions that were bursting beneath your skin. You would go to hell and back again if just to experience this for the rest of your life, to continue living in this bubble of warmth and completion.
There was the slightest bit of lingering sadness towards the knowledge that Toto hadn’t been by your side yesterday and witnessing his daughter being brought into the world, maybe it was even unfair that he had been robbed of that opportunity but then you remembered how you had tried to tell him the news of your pregnancy before you left and how he refused to listen.
You weren’t going to beg and plead for him to listen to what you had to say, no matter what there news was.
You had a lot more respect for yourself than that.
It didn’t matter anyways, you didn’t need him and you’d ensure that Alina didn’t need him either. You have full confidence in your ability to raise her alone and give her the best life she could possibly have, a life that would provide her with opportunities others could only imagine having.
November 2024
Alina Elisabeth Schumacher was now two months old and each day it felt as though your love for her multiplied.
Even through the rough patches where you seemed lost in knowing what she needed or what was wrong, it didn’t deter you in the slightest. You had smiled more in the last two months than you had in the last ten years and it felt riveting.
Never would you have thought that a child could fill a gap in your life that you didn’t even know existed but here she is and your heart is full.
Your life felt whole and complete and you owed everything to her, to your little girl who had fixed your healing heart without even trying, just by simply existing.
Today was an important day, Mick was coming home after finishing the world endurance season, which he had performed amazingly in, and it was going to be his first time meeting his niece in person.
You had FaceTimed so much in the last few months, Mick hadn’t wanted to miss any part of his niece growing and so every night at around six he’d ring so that he could say goodnight to her, no matter what time is was where he was at.
Alina loved her uncle already.
It was around 2pm when you heard the front door open followed by the sound of bags dropping to the floor and Mick walking into the kitchen.
You didn’t waste any time in wrapping him into a hug. "Hey, how are you?"
Mick tucked his head into the crook of your neck and tightened his arms around you. "I’m great, it was amazing but how are you, are you okay?" He asked, pulling away and holding onto your shoulders as he looked you up and down.
You smiled at him in pure happiness. "I’m amazing, she’s amazing. Come and see her," you told him and grabbed his hand, pulling him upstairs to your room.
Alina was napping which is all she ever did at her young age but you didn’t care if she woke up because the look of awe on Mick’s face as he set his eyes upon her would make it worth it.
"She’s tiny," he whispered, reaching a finger inside the cot and smiling as she wrapped her fist around it. "She looked so much bigger over the phone, she’s beautiful, Y/N, really." He looked up at you and smiled.
"That’s because she takes after me," you smirked and he rolled his eyes, slowly pulling his hand away before turning to you.
"Do Mum and Gina know?" He asked.
You didn’t need him to emphasise, you both knew what he meant, the unspoken topic that neither of you brought up throughout your entire pregnancy and even after.
"No," you replied honestly, swallowing uncomfortably.
"Y/N-" he sighed.
"Don’t," you cut him off. "He didn’t want to know, Mick. He didn’t care and I’m not going to beg him to."
The sympathetic look he gave you in response to the defeated words you spoke filled you with the need to cry but you didn’t.
You simply stood there for a moment before sighing. "I think I’m going to quit."
Mick gave you a look of horror. "What!?" He whisper shouted. "You can’t, you’ve been with Mercedes for nearly a decade!"
You shrugged. "I don’t want to work for him anymore, not when he is adamant on acting as though he didn’t give me the wrong impression, as though I don’t have his daughter at home who he doesn’t know about because he didn’t care enough for me to tell him."
He didn’t say anything, knowing that your point was completely reasonable. He just hoped this didn’t ruin everything you had worked for.
December 2024
You walked side by side with Mick through the pits of the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, drawing quite a bit of attention to yourselves, not only because this is the first glimpse anyone has seen of you all year but because of the three month old you held in your arms.
You walked into the Mercedes garage as though you weren’t about to reveal why you hadn’t participated in this season, pretending you didn’t notice how everyone paused what they were doing to stare as soon as you crossed the threshold.
Their stares burned into your skin but none more than Toto’s, you felt the trail his eyes left across your entire body and the way they settled on the sleeping baby in your arms.
You ignored the burning sensation he was leaving on your skin, instead focusing on the mechanics and other team members that were approaching to speak to you and introduce themselves to Alina.
It was around twenty minutes later before you were left alone, Mick took this opportunity to take Alina to go and show her off to anyone who would give him the time of day, you loved how much of a proud uncle he was.
"Can we talk?" His voice was low and gravelly in your ear as he spoke in a hushed whisper, startling you momentarily.
You scoffed and shook your head. "You weren’t up for talking in January, I’m not up for talking now."
"It’s important," he tried to reason and you laughed.
"What I wanted to say was important but you didn’t care, what was important to me wasn’t important to you. It’s not nice being on the receiving end of that, is it?"
You had hit the nail on the head with that one and by the stunned silence Toto was confined into, he knew that as well.
"Please, I know I don’t deserve it but can you please just come and have a civil conversation with me in my office," he pleaded, knowing that he really had no leg to stand on because he was the one that was completely in the wrong.
You wanted to make a comment about how poetic it was that he wanted to go and talk in his office, just how you did all those months ago and yet you had no luck but you didn’t.
You relented and agreed but that did not mean you were going to be easy on him.
You sighed and stood up from your seat, following him to his office.
You refused to speak first as he shut the door which resulted in a thick, heavy silence for a couple of minutes as you both stood there, Toto staring at you whilst your eyes strained on the ground.
"What happened in Abu Dhabi last year-" he started causing you to look up at him, not expecting him to even bring that up considering how certain he was to avoid it before.
"It wasn’t a mistake, I just- I spent two years fighting my feelings for you because you deserve so much more than I am. The baggage I come with- I’m divorced twice and I have kids and I’m so much older than you and you deserve so much more than to be with a man that comes with all that and can’t give you everything."
You stared at him blankly though you were surprised that he had supposedly felt something for you for an entire year before you noticed anything.
"I never thought of you as anything but my boss and a friend but then last year, the way you looked at me and the way you acted, I thought you liked me and it confused me, my mind was baffled the entire season but no matter what you caused me to feel, I fought against it but then with his forward you were in Abu Dhabi, you made me think you actually wanted me and even if you didn’t then that’s fine but what isn’t fine is leading me on with your stares and your touches and then leaving me alone in a hotel the moment I gave in and even after that when I tried to speak with you, you ignored me and dismissed me. Do you know how used and disgusted I felt?"
You knew the look of guilt on his face wasn’t fake but that didn’t change anything, his guilt was nothing compared to what he had put you through.
"I thought I was doing what was best for you," he replied defeated, knowing how pathetic he sounded and how weak his response was.
"I couldn’t look at myself without feeling the urge to throw up after the way you left me there and it was all down to your insecurities which are ridiculous by the way. I can’t believe you think I’d care about how many times you’ve been married or how many kids you have or how old you are, I only ever wanted someone who loved me and treated me right, you could’ve done that but the man that spoke to me in January, I’ve never seen you like that and that man is not someone I would ever be with."
"You didn’t deserve that," he replied in agreement. "I was overwhelmed by the guilt I felt for leaving you there and trying to ignore my feelings for you which I thought were wrong to be feeling but it is not an excuse for the way I spoke or dismissed you, it was wrong of me. I’m sorry."
"I know," you shrugged. "But I don’t forgive you, not right now at least."
Toto shook his head. "I’ll earn your forgiveness." He said confidently.
"Okay." You whispered.
The air between the two of you shifted as Toto looked at you apprehensively, shifting on his feet. "Your baby-" your heart thumped loudly in your chest. "Is she?" He asked, not needing to continue.
You weren’t going to deny the truth and so you replied honestly. "Yes, it’s what I tried telling you in January."
The look of anguish that appeared on his face was heartbreaking to see because you could tell he truly regretted his actions but it was simply the consequences of his decisions, he was still able to make up for it.
"What did you name her?" He asked quietly.
"Alina Elisabeth Schumacher, Elisabeth after my grandmother."
"You chose well…. Could I meet her?" He asked carefully, not wanting to overstep with you but of course you would allow him to see her, not only because your daughter deserved a chance to have a father but because you knew he was a good father and he would’ve been there had you been given the chance to tell him of her.
"I’ll go and get her." You told him, swiftly walking passed him and out of the door.
It was George that happening to be holding her as you re-entered the garage, the man looking up at you with a pleased smile. "Y/N! I’m happy your back, am I getting my beginner back next year?" He asked as he handed her over to you.
You smiled weakly and shrugged your shoulders. "I’m honestly not too sure yet, George but I’ll let you know."
"No worries," he waved you off. "She’s beautiful by the way."
You thanked him before turning away and heading back to Toto’s office.
Alina was wide awake now and her dark eyes were looking around curiously as you walked through the small corridor.
As soon as Toto’s eyes laid upon her you practically saw how he immediately fell in love with her, his eyes softened as they took in her features, probably trying to find anything that resembled himself.
"I think she has your eyes, but that’s about it," you commented lightly causing him to laugh.
He stepped forward and held his hand out for her, smiling and laughing as she reached out and grabbed his finger before shoving it into her mouth.
He looked at her in awe, as if he couldn’t believe she was a part of him. He reached out with his other hand and tickled her cheek with his finger causing her to gurgle around his hand.
"You can hold her," you told him, lifting her out towards him. He looked at you unsurely but you encouraged him with a nod and that was everything he needed to take her into his arms.
Alina threw away her grip on his hand as he held her and instead pressed both of her hands into his cheeks and pressed her face up against his causing you both to burst out into laughter which resulted in her copying you.
"She’s so small," he muttered almost to himself but you heard him.
"She didn’t feel it when I was pushing her out but she does look it," you joked but also serious, it had hurt like hell.
The mention of her birth spiked a sudden interest. "When was she born?" He asked.
"September 3rd, she was two weeks late, didn’t want to leave I suppose so I had to get induced."
He looked at you worried. "You didn’t do it alone, did you?"
You shook your head, "No, don’t worry, my mum was there with me."
"That’s good," he replied, pulling away from Alina’s grabby hands and instead brought her into a hug, resting the side of his head against hers.
God did he look good holding her.
Alina cooed and babbled as she lied her head on his shoulder and reached her hand up to grab his ear and pull on it.
The immediate connection between the two was impossible to miss and it was sad they had both missed out on this but you refused to let yourself feel guilty about it.
"Thank you for this," Toto’s voice broke you out of your thoughts. "I know I don’t deserve it."
You shook your head. "You deserve a relationship with her, no matter what I wouldn’t have kept her from you."
He smiled and tightened his hold on Alina, still struggling to believe she was really his.
He had four kids. Wow.
He did not want to think about how he was going to explain this one to them.
"We should probably go back out there, there’s still a race that’s about to start." You mentioned, hating to break him out of his bubble but he had priorities.
After much coercing, you managed to get him out of his office but he kept his hold on Alina, he didn’t think the team would suspect anything, they probably just thought he wanted to hold her but even if they did have suspicions, he didn’t care.
Everything felt right as he held her, now he just needed to make it up to you and he would do everything needed for you to forgive him because he wanted this, he wanted you and this family you had created, no matter how long it took.

Ouat Grishaverse au concept only (because I have only ideas and no action) part one
Was going to elaborate in the concept but it was too much information so only listing the characters (i can elaborate if someone asks)
-Alina Starkova not born in Storybrook.A lonely orphaned illustrator in the real world that finds out she is “The greatest light” (aka Emma’s role) in fantasy land she was a fairy born from a ray of sun,she was sent to the real world by the dark fairy as a baby.Coming to Storybrook she takes the role of getting people back with their loved ones and solving the mystery of the town. She also doubles as red ridding hood
-Zoya Nazyalensky, in Storybrook she is the mayor’s assistant who is looking forward being the next mayor. In fantasy land, she was at first the blue fairy but a terrible deal turned her into the wicked fairy. She remembers the curse and tries to stop Alina from breaking it in fear of becoming the evil fairy again. (Sort of like Regina but way less villainous)
-Mal Oretsev, a barista in Storybrook , gets Henry’s role of being the one to go and find the greatest light. In Storybrook he is the hunter.
-Aleksander Morozov , the sheriff of Storybrook. The wicked witch of the west in fantasy land (flying monkeys as the volkra) also, his dynamic in trying to trick Alina into trusting him gives him traits of the big bad wolf and is also the Dark One (what Rumplestilskin’s role on the show is,even if he is NOT Rumple)
-Baghra Morozova, a senile blind old lady in Storybrook, the dark fairy in fantasy land.
-Genya Safin , a hairdresser in Storybrook that befriends Alina, Snow White in fantasy land
-Nikolai Lanstov, doubles as Captain Hook and The happy prince,he is trapped as a golden statue in Storybrook
-Kaz Brekker, the owner of an antique shop in Storybrook, doubles as The fairy godmother and the “good”witch of the north in fantasy land
-Inej Ghafa, in Storybrook she actually remembers and she is trapped in the asylum. Cruelly nickamed “Cinderella” in fantasyland by her evil adoptive mother , also doubles as the tin (wo)man
-Jesper Fahey, like Inej he is held in the asylum against his will while remembering everything. Was Pinocchio in fantasy land, then the scarecrow in their trip to Oz
-Wylan Van Eck, same situation as the previous two. Was turned into the golden harp in fantasy land, then played as the cowardly lion in their trip to Oz.
-Nina Zenik, once again, same situation as the other three. Plays Alice and then Dorothy in fantasy land
-Matthias Helvar , in fantasy land he was the knave of hearts then cursed to turn into a baby wolf , making him pretty much Toto in the travel to Oz.Not in Storybrook since he died before the curse, his ashes held by Nina Zenik in her cell
-Other villains: Pekka Rollins is a honorable tailor and a gentle parent for his son until night when he gets in criminal business, in Fantasy land he was Rumplestilskin. Jan Van Eck,poses as the town’s major ,he actually remembers the curse,in fairy land he was King midas and then the wizard of Oz. Heleen Van Houten was the evil step (adoptive) mother, not in Storybrook since she was killed before the curse by Inej, Jarl Brum is the town priest, leader of a secret cult, was the king of hearts in fantasy land, he remembers the curse because he made it as a way to get rid of magic.

happy halloween - have a few, quickly-written little headcanons on the svech babies and their halloween costumes 🎃
evie’s six months old for her first halloween and you go a little nuts buying a bunch of different costumes but she ends up going as a little bunny, complete with a stuffed carrot and everyone freaks out over how cute she is
you and andrei also wear bunny ears to go as a little bunny family
alina’s only three months old for her first halloween and evie’s almost three so you go for a family costume again - this time it’s winnie the pooh characters. andrei is tigger, evie is pooh, you’re eeyore, and alina is piglet. the costumes are so freaking hot so you’re glad it’s actually a cold halloween in raleigh for once
when you zip andrei into the giant onesie, he shakes his head and laughs, “didn’t think i would be so damn happy to dress up in an adult onesie, solnyshka.”
kira is eleven months old at her first halloween and walking, but none of the girls want anything to do with a family costume since they all have their own choices. except then it’s two days before halloween and the bigger girls both decide they hate their costumes and want new ones - daddy to the rescue. disney princess family costumes here you come
evie is sleeping beauty, alina is ariel, kira is cinderella and they’re all very very excited about the twirly dresses
andrei has a wicked look in his eye when he pulls a fourth and fifth costume from the giant box - a yellow ball gown for you and a prince costume for himself - belle and the beast
“my hair’s even long enough,” he grins, having been too busy to get a haircut. he’ll never admit it, but he’s just as into the family costumes as you are
by the time dimitri is born, he’s only two months old and you’re exhausted. andrei handles halloween again - the girls go as different superheros (wonder woman, supergirl, and batgirl) daddy’s wearing a batman mask and a huge goofy grin
dimitri gets a little teddy bear onesie, complete with ears and little tail, so he can be warm and bundled while you push him in the stroller as the girls trick or treat. andrei has a little superman shirt that he puts on over dimitri’s onesie because he “has to match the rest of us, solnyshka”
“i’m not dressed up to match you guys”
“don’t worry about that, i have just the thing”
andrei produces a t-shirt that says “super mom” on it for you and a little matching cape that he hooks around your neck with a kiss to your cheek
maks is just about a month old for his first halloween - he gets dimitri’s bear onesie and one year old dimitri is in a little elmo from sesame street
there’s a period of several halloweens where both boys only want to be daddy for halloween and traipse around the neighborhood in their svechnikov jerseys and helmets, insisting on carrying around sticks until they get bored and you end up carrying the sticks
evie bosses her younger siblings around one year because she wants to be dorothy from wizard of oz, but needs her cast of characters. so. kira and alina end up as the wicked witch and glinda, respectively. you’re the scarecrow, andrei is the tin man, dimitri is the cowardly lion, and poor little maks ends up as toto
the year the kids all decide to do their own different costumes and don’t want to do a coordinated family one is a dark year for andrei - he pouts and complains about the kids growing up, so you promise to do a couples’ costume with him and that’s how you end up dressed in matching pirate costumes with andrei’s hand up your skirt most of the night and a brief pregnancy scare six weeks later

I'm having trouble with the Set Up part of my story. I have most things planned out from about the midpoint, but I feel the Set Up to be potentially too "boring" compared to the climax. From the inciting incident, the story takes place at a different location, so I see little point describing the location of their "normal," but can't entirely start from the new place either or the rest wouldn't get properly set up. Much of their "normal lives" get revealed in bits later, when they become relevant to the main plot, but until then, they'd be "unnecessary spoilers."
In short: I feel their "normal" to be either too mundane or give away too much, too early. Any advice for this situation, or for composing the Set Up part in general, without making it too "boring?"
Thank you in advance! 👐
MC's "Normal World" Feels Irrelevant/Mundane
It's pretty common for characters to leave their normal world as they head into some adventure in their upside down world. Bilbo and Frodo leave the Shire, Katniss leaves District 12, Dorothy leaves Kansas, Maria leaves the convent, Ellie leaves the FEDRA school, Mal and Alina leave the First Army... you get the idea. But even though these MCs leave their normal worlds behind for adventures in an upside down world, we still get descriptions of their normal world. We still get to see what Bilbo and Frodo's lives are like in the Shire and what the Shire looks like. We still get the tour of District 12 and get a glimpse into Katniss's everyday life before the Hunger Games. We still see Dorothy's life on the farm with Auntie Em and Uncle Henry before she goes to Oz... and that's because setting up the character's normal world helps us understand who this person is, what their normal life is like, what their internal conflict is, and what's at stake for them. All of those things are important if we're going to care about what happens to them after the inciting incident.
So, ideally, you want to focus on setting up three things: who your character is (their personality, their normal world goal/dreams, and their internal conflict), what their everyday life is like (what do they do, who do they know, what are their skills), and what's at stake for them/what's important to them (who and what do they care about the most.) And, also ideally, you want to find an interesting situation that allows you to explore all of these things at once. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings both begin with a party that lets us see life in the Shire, who Bilbo and Frodo are, and who's important to them. The Hunger Games begins with Katniss going hunting with her friend Gale, which gives us a glimpse at daily life (and the associated challenges) in District 12, not to mention a look at who is important to Katniss (her mom, her sister, Gale...) The Wizard of Oz begins with Dorothy having a conflict with her neighbor over her dog, Toto, who keeps getting into the neighbor's yard, which helps set up the various challenges young Dorothy faces in her life on a Kansas farm.
In your situation, you'll need to find something that lets you do this without giving away the things you want to keep secret. One way to do this would be to find a "normal world" scenario that takes place outside of the home part of their normal world. For example, if there are things you don't want to give away about their family and home life, you could start the story at school, which allows you to hide their home life while still exploring who they are, what they're like, and what's important to them.
I hope that helps!

she was only supposed to be carlos sainz jr's lead engineer.
carlos sainz jr x SFengineer!OC
word count: 2k
tw: nothing
note: a) mentions of unmarried!toto, b) as usual, i happen to always write around dawn so ofc this is not beta-read. i swear i'll be answering ur asks around this weekend and put up 'the holiday (pt.2)', sorry for the delay but i can't help but write this down first teheee
“what do you think, alina?”
at the mention of her name, his lead engineer didn’t waste another breath to jump into topics at hand. she presented her case and the justifications behind her decision, statistics and other data tucked under her arsenal in case anyone dared to refute her. all sharp and ever precise, no wishy washy, just like how she presented herself.
carlos remembered he once contemplated raising a concern over the engineer assigned for him. no, not because she is a woman—hannah schmitz of his old company, red bull racing, had proven him wrong so many times about the calibre of the women working in this rigorous field—but because she was aloof beyond belief, borderline unapproachable even. in his early ferrari days, carlos had his moments where he second-guessed himself before engaging her into a conversation, afraid she’d think of his questions stupid, that he had to seek charles’ aid.
charles used to laugh at carlos’ meek revelation but the frenchman also recalled the days where he used to be so intimidated by the woman, thinking she should’ve been assigned to the first driver and not him, who just debuted only a year before joining the italian automobile giant. alas, the no-bullshit-only-facts kind of way she rolled with was what made the entire paddock respected her even more because the least they needed to end the constructor’s championship drought was someone who only wanted hefty pay checks but not glory days.
carlos, for the same reason, had to agree with charles’ sentiment. her calls, more often than not, were more significantly impactful to him gaining podium than even the team principal’s, even when carlos himself doubted his ears when her instructions came to him via the radio. but his respect went off the roof back in silverstone, when he couldn’t see anything straight due to the heavy pour, but alina called the shot to fuck away most of ferrari’s strategies—one that she didn’t think made sense—and told carlos to drive as his instinct went.
at that time, carlos told her she had gone mad. alina didn’t laugh at his response—well, she rarely did to anyone’s—but her response came out stronger than his.
“do you trust me on this, carlos?”
“do you trust me, alina?”
"with my life."
funny how she could do it with less than expressive tone, with less than 10 words exchanged between them. funny it was exactly how carlos could gain his maiden win in formula 1. funny it was also the moment she became an important figure in his life.
the moment carlos stepped out of the car after the long race, he didn’t think twice to sprint to the paddock—because alina hated crowds and preferred to celebrate it in her station—to give her a hug. probably the tightest hug carlos had ever given to someone. but it was worth every penny on his bank account, especially when he noticed a miniscule smile ghosted over her lips.
“i told you to trust me.”
“i did, i do. with my life.”
and the growing smile afterwards made his head spin. he didn’t know there was something else that could intoxicate him when he was high on adrenaline, more than the fact that he could now proudly say he was an f1 race winner. but he didn’t want to trade it for anything else in the world. in fact, he couldn’t wait until the time he could see it again.
“what do you think of alina’s strategy, carlos?”
mattia’s voice interrupted the flashback train he was having but mattia should’ve known better. carlos would always answer this question with, “i’m down to whatever alina plans. she knows best.” call him bullshitting, but it didn’t take away the truth behind his words. he trusted her, with his life, without a second doubt.
but maybe he should’ve trusted alina strictly only for things concerning his racing performance because carlos as heck couldn’t accept the feeling he was having when he overheard the mechanics gossiping alina.
“have you heard? toto asked alina out!”
“fuck! toto fucking wolff?”
“it's a buzz over there. you reckon he's doing it so alina can join them?”
“probably. did she say yes?”
“yeah, man. they're going out tonight.”
“not going to the monza party, then.”
“she never does, anyway. besides, it's the fucking toto wolff!”
never once in carlos’ short life did he mourn for a loss. of what, he didn’t know, but he knew as much as whatever it is was now falling down the drain. he swore he didn’t want to go through it all over again, being bereft of something to the point it suffocated him, made him gaping for an extra air supply.
to say it blew carlos’ mind would be an understatement. he was completely out of it most of the time he wasn’t in the car racing. ironic how he needed something to occupy his mind beyond the grid, yet her stoic voice over the radio was what he soaked himself in. reality be damned.
but as everyone and their mothers say, reality sure had a funny way to slap you in the face. if carlos thought finding out alina was going to a date with the toto wolff, he clearly wasn’t prepared to see how she looked going to a date with toto wolff. the signature red blouse and her series of pencil skirt dashed aside, she was earth-shatteringly—at least to carlos’ definition of earth he was living—stunning in a black cocktail dress, the sparkly ornaments pronounced her eyes even brighter than the chandelier hanging above them as they waited for the elevator car to come and pick them up.
“i thought you’re not going to the monza party.”
“i’m not.”
call him idiot for hoping she’d say the otherwise, even though he—like the rest of the crew—knew like the back of their hand that alina was devoid of places packed with people.
carlos’ heart lurched at the thought she dressed up excellently, had she decided to go to the monza party, black dresscode and all, yet he couldn’t have her come with him. she would surely woo away all the boredom the party would bring, for carlos thought she was the most interesting thing on the planet. but instead, she decided to forego it all; going somewhere else far from the crowd, looking so enthralling he wanted to capture every motion of her breathing, doing something he would absolutely love to ask of her.
“where are you going then? a date?”
“oh, you heard what the mouths in the paddock running with.”
that got to be alina’s longest sentence, sans the strategies and all other jazz in relation to racing. how pathetic that the only time they spoke something not connected with their office relationship was triggered by ferrari’s long standing rival. so pathetic carlos wanted to beat himself for taking everything of alina for granted, now that he realised.
“so, are you?”
the eerie silent bestowed upon them was so cold it prickled carlos’ skin as if frostbite had bitten him down. it was frightening that such silence drove them apart further than the atlantic ocean, yet no words were more powerful than any other answer she could possibly provide him with.
carlos didn’t know what to do with himself. should he be glad she presented him honesty? or should he be devastated they were so compatible that they needn’t any words to understand each other except for this one particular matter?
heck, even if he’d figured out all the answers to those questions, he was sure he still didn’t know what to do with himself. take a look the past years they’d been working together and not a moment did he know what he was doing around her, especially the time when he’d pulled over the helmet over his head after the race was concluded.
the loudest ding! reached to carlos’ ears, as if it was purposely done that way as carlos’ loudest reminder he was running out of time. because let’s be real; when the torger christian wolff of Mercedes-amg petronas f1 team succeed in wooing you, you wouldn’t have the chance to say no to the life laid in front of you like a hollywood’s blockbuster red carpet rolled on your feet.
but at least, carlos had tried before toto did, despite knowing the slim succession rate.
“don’t go.”
the elevator doors hadn’t even shut properly when carlos shot his fire, taking alina aback like a whirlwind no one warned you about. it was the most expressive alina had ever been around the spanish driver, her being perplexed enlarged the eyes he loved the most—for it always shone with burning desire and determination to win around him—and forced herself to inhale a sharp intake of breath. it was an endearing sight, if only carlos wasn’t hanging his sanity on the thinnest line called god’s fate.
alina being analytical alina, she spared some time—god, he wished to never undergo those excruciating seconds again in his life—to scan over carlos’ face through their reflections on the gold plate of the elevator doors, searching hopefully anything to indicate the sainz jr was joking around, like he used to do with lando on the mclaren paddock across the red horse’s.
carlos was glad alina didn’t take her chance to crumble him to his feet by turning herself towards him. his resolution would fall apart in a split second. so he chose to stand straighter, all while locking his black orbs on hers, this time with the same burning desire and determination she always had on a race day.
“why?”
she needs convincing? i'll give her convincing. he was the first to peer down at her, immediately submerging himself into intoxication at the sight of the beauty beside him and soaking in the close proximity he’d been dying to have ever since silverstone. “do you trust me, alina?”
alina, in turn, tried to reach his eyes, this time wavering from the intensity of carlos’ staring. throughout their excellent partnership, alina had never encountered such heavy weight on his eyes and she’d be lying if deep down she wasn’t scared of the combination between those eyes and what lied underneath them. but her fear was overshadowed by her curiosity. “with my life.”
it didn’t take carlos another second—thank god for his f1 driver reflexes—before his unconscious jumpstarted at her response. his hands immediately went up to cup her jawlines, holding her in her place before she could think of anything else, and brought his lips landing on hers. softly, smoothly, precisely inbetween. their eyes shut into perfect dome, noses rubbing gently against one another.
he closed down on her upper lip, as the lower part moved to sync with him, and soon their lips began dancing in perfect sync on the slow, burning floor. nothing was rushed, nor impatient. simply a mutual enjoyment between two people who’d been deprived of something they’d been craving in the dark for far too long.
freedom tasted so good on their clashing tongues as the dance, slowly but surely, picked up some speed and heat altogether. alina seeked for stability by grabbing carlos’ sleek black suit jacket as the towering man pushed the woman gently towards the corner of the small space, their heavy breaths were the only music filling the air.
another loud ding! pulled them apart, as if it was purposely done to bring them back to reality. they both heard another couple taking up some of the remaining space but their eyes never left each other's as they exchanged knowing smiles, the tip of carlos' fingers brushed over her cheeks softly as he rested his forehead on hers.
now they were truly one and the same in every sense of that word. one, same team. not just the driver and its lead engineer, but carlos and alina.

I think I sorted out my feelings for Alina. Why I like her but I actually don't.
I love the idea of her. This orphan girl who turned into a Saint and matyr. The sacrifice and pain she have to go through and everything. Its the kind of trope and story I would lap up instantly.
But the reason I actually don't like her and the trilogy itself is because the execution is lacking since I'm not a fan of the writing and Alina's pov can be annoying sometimes.
In toto, I like her potential but I don't actually like her character.
#I'm in love with Alina in theory#like if someone describe her journey to me#before i read the book#i would fall in love with her#but as soon as i read the book#i was disappointed ngl#shadow and bone#alina starvok

chapter five — trust
➝ ross brawn’s tumultuous departure from mercedes was nothing compared to what elisabeth and toto’s relationship had become. elisabeth goes to brackley to manage the fallout, but things only get more complicated.
➝ word count: 2,4k
➝ warnings: none
➝ author’s note: enjoy!
NOVEMBER, 2013
Elisabeth slammed the black car door with a force completely disproportionate to what it took to close it, but proportionate to the anger she felt. The sound caused by the impact caught the attention of two employees, who were standing in front of the curvilinear building, talking, their eyes widening as she approached.
— Good morning, Elisabeth — one of them greeted her. He had a smile on his face.
— Good morning — she replied, dryly, not even looking at him. Her steps were heavy as she entered the lobby of the Mercedes AMG F1 headquarters in Brackley, focused on a singular mission.
Confront Toto Wolff.
She’d received an email from Bradley Lord, the team’s communications director, the night before. The message contained a link to an article — an exclusive Motorsport Magazine interview with Ross Brawn, who had just said goodbye to the team after a turbulent season. His departure was apparently all very hush-hush.
Her personal relationship with Brawn was cordial, but it was impossible not to notice something strange in the air when he was with her father and Toto. The harmony that had existed between the three of them at that first dinner in Vienna had completely disappeared. The way she saw it, the reason for such animosity was the simple fact that there were too many people wanting to run the same team. His interview confirmed her suspicions.
However, Elisabeth hadn’t expected his revelations to be so harsh.
— What happened at Mercedes was that people I couldn’t trust were forced on me — she muttered, reading the article's lede, dropping the cup of chamomile tea she was sipping on her desk in disbelief.
The rest of the interview made her stomach churn, with Brawn claiming to be disappointed in her father and Toto’s approach to the business. However, what made her drive nearly two hours from her Soho apartment to Brackley was Ross’ statement regarding the hiring of Paddy Lowe as the executive director earlier that year. According to Ross, Toto laid all of the blame on Niki for the decision.
— Liar — she growled, clenching her fists.
She was at the dinner where the matter was discussed — it had been Toto’s idea to ask Lowe to work for Mercedes, starting in 2014. Her father was against the idea, saying it would be better to talk to Ross about it before signing anything with Paddy.
“How could he have been so underhanded?”, she thought, clenching her teeth.
With the clack of her heeled black shoes echoing on the gray floor, Elisabeth entered the building in silence, frowning. Her right hand was gripping the strap of her black bag that was slung over her shoulder. The oddly empty trophy case and the W03 displayed in the foyer were just blurs in her peripheral vision as she made her way to the elevator.
— Good morning, Miss Lauda — she stopped when she heard Alina, the receptionist, greet her warmly. As Elisabeth turned to face her, she concluded that her expression must have been frightening, as it made the smile on her face abruptly disappear.
— Is Wolff here today? — her voice came out cold as ice.
— Yes, Miss Lauda — she said, timidly.
— Great — she muttered, continuing towards the elevator in silence, the click of her heels following her.
The metal doors opened and Elisabeth stepped inside, pressing the button for the third floor. As the silver doors slid close, she turned to the mirror in the back of the elevator car, examining her reflection. Dressed in a black coat and with a red scarf wrapped around her neck, she looked elegant, however, her irritation was clear in her posture and in her expression.
As she exited the elevator, she looked both ways down the corridor before heading in the direction of Toto’s office. Elisabeth walked like a woman on a mission. She approached the glass-walled room and realized it was empty. The lights were off. However, the suit jacket hanging on the back of the chair was an indication that he was here, somewhere.
But… Where?
Elisabeth turned to the right and noticed that several pairs of eyes were looking at her with curiosity, peering over several rows of computer screens. They were probably wondering what Niki Lauda’s daughter was doing there in Brackley on a freezing Thursday, and why she looked so furious.
— Where is he? — she asked, jerking her thumb towards the office behind her. Her voice was completely absent of any warmth. It caused the employees to glance at each other, nervously.
— He’s in a meeting — a young man said, almost bracing himself for her reaction.
— Where? — Elisabeth said, looking directly at him, her tone firm. She wouldn’t be leaving that building today without speaking to Toto, face-to-face.
— End of the hall, last door on the left — a red-haired woman, sitting next to him, replied, her voice a little shaky.
The shadow of a smile passed over her lips.
“Time to talk, Toto”, she thought.
— Thanks — she said, abruptly. Elisabeth turned back to the hallway and walked towards the room the staff had pointed out. As she approached the door, she could hear voices from inside. One voice stood out — one with a distinct accent that she knew very well.
— Last on the left. Here it is — she muttered to herself. She reached out to grab the doorknob and took a deep breath. Elisabeth needed to gather her courage for this.
“Moment of truth”, she thought as she turned the knob, flinging the door open. Inside the room, there were at least seven people seated around a rectangular table, watching a presentation by a representative from Puma of next year’s team kit.
— Toto, we need to talk — she shouted. In one movement, all of the eyes in the room went from her to Toto, seated at the head of the table. He was sitting with his mouth slightly open, as if he couldn’t believe what she was doing.
— Elisabeth, I don’t know if you noticed, but you just…
— Interrupted your very important meeting about — she added, looking at the screen, which displayed some sketches — Commemorative caps? Yes, I’d noticed, and I don’t give a fuck.
Toto took a deep breath, his nostrils flaring. He was irritated.
— Could you wait in my office until I’m done?
— Negative — she snapped.
— Please? — he practically purred.
— My business with you is way more important than this… Shit — she spat, gesturing at the screen with her head. The Puma representative glared at her, clearly outraged by her words.
— Liesl…
Toto using his silly nickname for her had her clenching her jaw, anger building inside her. Elisabeth couldn't understand how he could treat this situation like a joke, especially when it involved something as serious as her father's relationship with investors. Trying to control herself, she crossed her arms over her chest, impassive. With his eyes glued to her, Toto shifted in his chair and ran a hand through his brown hair, visibly uncomfortable.
She had definitely put him in an incredibly awkward position.
— I think a five-minute break wouldn’t do any harm — a woman said in a placating tone, rising from her seat — Right, Toto?
— Yes, absolutely — Toto replied absently, his eyes locked with Elisabeth’s.
— Shall I show you to our coffee counter, gentlemen? — the woman said, gesturing toward the door. Elisabeth was still standing at the threshold with her arms crossed, staring Toto down.
Slowly, the meeting’s attendees rose from their chairs and passed through the doorway, walking by her without a word. “Stupid asshole”, she thought as the Puma representative walked past her, staring at Elisabeth with a reproachful look, which was answered by her raised eyebrow.
When the final attendee left, she entered the room and turned back towards the door, closing it and clicking the lock shut. She didn’t want any interruptions, or for Toto to try to make a run for it. Then, Elisabeth turned to face him, dropping her black bag on the table as she walked in his direction. Toto followed her with his eyes, shifting in his chair, running a hand through his hair again.
— I’m all ears.
— You’d better be, because I have a lot to say — she said, resting her palms on the table, leaning over the surface. She was trying to stare him down, but Toto’s height meant that their eyes were level.
Toto sighed.
— Go ahead.
— What’s this I hear about you blaming my dad for hiring Paddy Lowe when Brawn came to talk to you?
— Ah, I see you read the interview — his expression changed as he connected the dots.
— Of course I read it, Bradley sent it to me last night!
He continued to gaze at her with an appraising stare.
— Come on, speak! — she exclaimed.
— Speak what?
— What the fuck was that idea of blaming my father? — she said, slapping the table.
— Well, Niki agreed with me…
— But he didn’t come up with the idea!
— I know, Elisabeth.
— So why did you say that to Brawn? — she was practically yelling now, standing from where she was leaning at the table. As she moved, Toto rose from his chair as well.
— Because I needed to buy time!
— And do you have any idea what you’ve done?
— What did I do, Elisabeth? — he asked in a mocking tone, which added to her irritation with him — Tell me what I did!
She rounded the table to approach him, her pulse roaring in her ears.
— You just sold out my dad as the main culprit for Brawn’s departure and you know how much investors liked him! What about my father’s image, Toto?
— You talk like Ross didn’t say I couldn’t be trusted, either! — he snapped, taking a step forward. He walked toward her, drawing himself up to his full height. He was so tall that Elisabeth had to tilt her head back to maintain eye contact with him. However, if Toto thought that would intimidate her, he was very wrong.
Actually, she found that she was… Turned on.
— How will he deal with the questions when he's not to blame?
— You're far too worried about this considering you have nothing to do with it — he spat.
— My father has a reputation to uphold, Toto!
— If he cared about his reputation, he would be here talking to me like a normal person instead of…
— Instead of what? — she screamed, getting as close to his face as she possibly could.
He stared down his nose at her, hesitant.
— If you have any balls, you’ll finish that sentence — she growled, close enough to him that they were practically touching, close enough that Elisabeth could feel the heat radiating off of his body.
— If he cared — Toto said, putting emphasis on each word. — He’d be here talking to me instead of sending his pretty little girl to yell at me.
She blinked. She couldn’t believe what she’d just heard.
— What did you just say?
— Fuck, Liesl — he growled, before putting his hands on her face and pulling her toward him. He brought his lips to hers with a delicacy that was a sharp contrast to the harsh words they’d just exchanged. The gentleness of his kiss dissolved all the anger and contempt Elisabeth was feeling, leaving only the desire that was dammed up inside her since New Year’s Eve, in his office. His tongue asked for passage and, almost immediately, Elisabeth gave in, leaning her head against his left palm. Soon, her hands found his torso, pulling his body flush with hers as she felt her own body laying back against the hard surface of the conference table.
What had started as a curious exploration, as if they were both getting to know each other, became an intense exchange between the two of them, each of them holding onto each other as if they were the air each of them needed to breathe.
She’d never wanted to feel a person’s touch like she wanted to feel Toto’s.
She’s never wanted to taste someone as badly as she wanted to taste Toto.
And Elisabeth wanted more.
But then, then, in a fit of awareness, she realized what she was doing.
She was kissing Toto. He was on top of her.
Toto was the closest thing her father had to a friend.
“This is wrong”, her mind screamed.
Moaning against his mouth, Elisabeth managed to push him away, panting.
— No, no, no, no — she muttered, completely disoriented — We can’t do this, I can’t, no…
— Elisabeth — Toto spoke quietly. She completely ignored him, rising from the table Toto had placed her on without her even noticing, adrenaline and regret coursing through her veins. In her mind, millions of thoughts were going on at the same time, faster than a Formula 1 car.
“I need to get out of here”, Elisabeth told herself mentally.
She picked up her bag from the table and dashed towards the door. Then, she turned the knob, unable to get the door open.
— What the fuck — she snarled, tucking a strand of her light-brown hair behind her ear.
— Have you tried unlocking it? — Toto asked, trying to hold back his laughter.
“Damn it”, she thought. Her hands trembled as she released the lock, freeing her from the conference room. Then, she strode quickly down the hallway towards the elevator. Around her, the faces were just a blur, the words seemed far away. Everything was drowned out by the roar of her pulse in her ears.
— Are you okay, Elisabeth? — someone asked.
— Miss Lauda, we heard screaming — said another.
— Liesl, wait — a voice yelled.
However, she ignored them all. She smashed the button to take her down to the ground floor and breathed a sigh of relief when the elevator door opened immediately, allowing her to step inside. Then, Elisabeth heard the elevator doors close behind her and allowed herself to look up, staring at her own reflection in the mirror. Her hair was messy, her lips red and slightly swollen, the red scarf around her neck was lopsided.
“What did I just do?”, she asked herself, hearing the pleasant, disembodied voice of the elevator announce that she was on the ground floor. Adjusting the posture and taking a deep breath, Elisabeth slung her bag over her shoulder, and walked back through the lobby, leaving the building.
— Miss Lauda — she heard Alina call behind her. Stopping halfway, she turned her face over her shoulder.
— Yes?
— Did you find Mr. Wolff? — she asked.
She hesitated for a few seconds.
— Yes, I did.

• • • WANTED PLOTS
Cordelia is the Jackie Burkhart in a That 70′s Show inspired group! I’m going to have a request up for the rest of them, but on top of that, I wouldn’t mind some friends who are different than the usual type of people Cordy’s been friends with. People who are diverse, different, not so involved with the crowd her family hangs around with. Cordy is never going to grow as a person unless she has tons of people around her to force her to develop. Give her the 70′s friends and just new friends to be like “You’re a lot, so stop.”
On the other hand of it all, I need some bitchy gal pals for Cordelia. I’d like for a group of girls that went to school with her - probably some private, boarding school where they all stuck together and were obnoxious. Let’s be truthful, they were not nice girls to some of the others in high school. Some of them could attend the same college as her, but I kind of like the idea of them starting to be separated and having to become their own people. Cordy is changing (slowly), so there might be a little bit of tension between them all. Still, although she’s changing, Cordy sometimes needs her catty gals because her new college group doesn’t care for the catty.
I also would love to have some exes for her! She’s been dating someone off and on through college, but high school exes would be good! Her relationship with her boyfriend is messy still, so I also am interested in having a few flirtationships that she slides into when she and her boyfriend are on their “off” period. Nothing will come out of those; Cordy just uses them as a way to make him jealous when they’re broken up.
• • • THE PLAYER
Cordelia Townsend is played by Paige. She is 29 years old and in the CST timezone. Please be mindful of their triggers: incest, rape, student x teacher plots.

We need healthy habits to live meaningfully and purposefully

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible fathers of this world!
Fathers play a vital role in shaping our children’s views of men and the role men play in our lives. Children’s relationship with their father is usually the very first connection they make with a man, and that foundation changes their outlook on future relationships.
Being a good parent takes more than just having a child. It takes real dedication to show up, love unconditionally, and put your child’s needs above your own.
In order to be committed to the mental and emotional well-being of the child, parents must also look after their own health. We cannot offer our children what we do not cultivate in ourselves.
For the past few weeks I’ve been focusing on my own mental and emotional growth. Constantly indulging in the superficial and materialistic facade of social media can be an obstacle to processing the real depths of our feelings. It can be easy to ignore how we really feel inside when we lose ourselves scrolling endlessly through the highlights of other people’s lives. After slowly reconnecting and engaging with my inner well-being, I realized that we cannot be fully healed unless we are whole physically and emotionally.
Self-care is a conscious balance between listening to what your body, mind, and spirit need. We must strive to maintain healthy habits in order to live meaningfully and purposefully. After researching various ways to care for myself through self-help books, therapy sessions, and online podcasts, I now devote my time to anti-aging programs, online exercise classes, and shopping for exercise equipment.

Healthy aging
There are many ways to healthy aging. Proper diet and other lifestyle factors play important roles in adding years to your life and life to your years.
When I was younger I thought 50-year-olds were near the end of their lives. Now that I’ve got this midlife brand behind me, I have a completely different mindset and perspective on getting old. I’ve realigned my priorities to extend the number of years I can live free from the ailments associated with aging – from unwanted wrinkles, memory loss, and creaky joints to a weakened immune system and more!
In order to defy the effects of aging without going under the knife, I have found some helpful tips to “feed” the brain, “eat” for beautiful skin and “sleep” for regeneration. Staying fit in old age is an important aspect of longevity.
Diet and exercise are important preventive measures to slow the onset of age-related cognitive decline. The brain needs healthy fats like omega-3 fatty acids in order for our brain cells to function. Oily fish, like mackerel, can help stave off the deterioration in our minds. Nutrient-rich salmon is also a popular source of omega-3 fatty acids and also contains high levels of vitamins D and B. For vegetarians, omega-3 fatty acids are also found in chia seeds, walnuts and extra virgin olive oil.
Plant-based foods are linked with higher levels of nutrients that benefit the brain. Red, blue, and purple berries can also help protect brain cells from aging. After learning that you can “feed” your brain to stay sharp, I realized that my daughter Jordan Prieto-Valdes’ vegan lifestyle may have made her an even more brilliant writer and artist. She edited my weekly columns and made good use of her magna cum laude screenwriting degree from Chapman University!
The longer you practice maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the more long-term benefits you will have. It’s about finding the right habits that make you feel good. I was happy to read that wine is actually on the “good for the brain” list. Sometimes we drink enough wine to say smart things, but we end up doing stupid deeds. So remember: moderation is key.

Well-fed cells
Living health starts with well-nourished cells. Since eating right all the time can be challenging, it is important to take supplements to provide us with the right nutrients.
Usana CellSentials are so much more than your average multivitamins. Each daily dose provides essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and additional key nutrients. Made with Usana’s patented Usana InCelligence technology, the exclusive InCelligence Complex goes beyond just nourishing the body. It also helps activate your body’s natural ability to respond to stress and keep your cells healthy.
In addition, Usana BiOmega contains omega-3 fatty acids, the fatty acids that keep you healthy in old age.
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that must be obtained through food because your body cannot make it naturally. As a source of vitamin C, Usana Poly C offers a number of important benefits such as antioxidant activity that neutralizes free radical damage to help maintain cell health.
Regular exercise could both reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease in healthy adults and increase cognitive performance in people with little memory loss.
For timelessly beautiful skin, there are many beauty products that help reduce all unwanted lines and age spots. Eating a nutritious diet that includes antioxidant foods will also help keep skin clear. The antioxidant vitamin E helps against wrinkles; some good sources are almonds, spinach, and sunflower seeds.
If you want to have beautiful skin, what you eat is important. To reduce age lines and inflammation, as well as increase collagen and moisture for healthy skin, add foods that contain vitamin C, lipoic acid, collagen, ellagic acid (helps prevent wrinkles), and omega-3 fatty acids. You can find these nutrients naturally in watermelon, bone broth, coffee, salmon, and dark chocolate. Probiotics can also prevent skin damage.
For the fathers out there who are grandfathers or even great grandfathers now, I wish you a very special Father’s Day as you enjoy a day of blessings you deserve. May the Lord shower you with healthy, strong years of fulfilling joys and relaxing times. Take the time to take care of yourself so that you can take care of your loved ones even more! INQ
