Why are you so afraid to let people see the real you?

“Why is anyone afraid of anything?” Clarissa asked, though the question itself was rhetoric. Fear wasn’t a natural occurrence, but rather a learned reaction. No one is afraid of the dark until it’s been suggested otherwise. No one is afraid to open themselves, unless they’ve been hurt. “Consequences. Repercussions. Reactions. A difference of opinion that could shed some negative light. Abandonment.”

Clarissa offered a small smile, a weak smile. “There isn’t much to love these days. Not truly, anyway. I love it when my blade becomes too embedded in a walkers skull and I have to forcibly yank it out. I love it when I bump into strangers on a run, and the anxious feeling it wells inside me. I love it when the sky is clear of an evening, and the stars are shining; the same sky we once looked up to from our balcony’s with a (semi) peaceful world. And lastly, I love it when you look at me, not like the monster that I am, or as an object, but as a woman; beautiful, intriguing, and human.”

“Alice,” Clarissa mused. “Oh, Alice. Sweet little Alice.” A wicked grin spread across her face, “Hmm.”

“Hoping we’ll be on the list, are we?” Clarissa smirked, “I try not to publicly announce favourites; tensions rise, feelings are hurt, and next thing you know we have a riot among those vying for my affections. It’s all rather terrible. But I suppose, if you truly need to know, I can give them code names.” She hummed, deciding on appropriate names. “Let’s see. We have Captain America, Bambi and Lector.”

Tell me about the best person you've met (post zombies) so far?

“I haven’t actually met many people post apocalypse, and I suppose this is owing to my independent nature, but let me tell you, those who I have met; gorgeous.” Clarissa smiled, her mind recalling the numerous faces and asses she’d seen over the past seven months. “Stand outs include a quaint little blonde, a roguishly good looking man carrying an axe, and a snarky little psychopath who’s mind I want to devour.”
