The Queen’s Uncle: Sir William Parr, 1st Baron Parr of Horton
Sir William Parr, 1st Baron Parr of Horton (c. 1483 – 10 September 1546) was the son of Sir William Parr of Kendal and his wife Elizabeth Fitzhugh. His mother was a niece to Warwick, the Kingmaker and thus a cousin of Anne Neville, Duchess of Gloucester and Queen of England as the wife of Richard III. Lady Elizabeth and her mother, Lady Alice FitzHugh, rode in the coronation train for Anne when…

I posted the FAB silk postcard of the American actress, Maude Fealy a couple of weeks ago and said that I would post some more about her, here a are few more images of Maude from my collection of postcards and photographs.
The first postcard shows Maude as Alice Faulkner from the play 'Sherlock Holmes.' The third one shows Maude as Eunice from 'Quo Vadis'.
The sixth postcard shows a winning photograph by Burr McIntosh from the French magazine 'Paris Figaro Illustre.' Maude's photograph was sent to their competition (to find the most beautiful woman in the world) by the American photographer, William Burr McIntosh. Maude was the winner, chosen from out of 30, 000 entrants from all over the world.
Some information about Maude from Wikimedia.
Maude Mary Hawk was born on March 3/4, 1881-3 in Memphis, Tennessee (the dates vary depending upon the source) the daughter of actress Margaret Fealy and James Hawk, who divorced. Maude took her mother's name, Fealy.
In 1896, she made her debut at the Elitch Theatre in Denver playing various children's roles. Her first appearance was during the week of July 19 in Henry Churchill de Mille's The Lost Paradise. In 1905, Churchill de Mille's son Cecil B. DeMille was hired as a stock player at Elitch Theatre, and Maude appeared as the featured actress in several plays. Their friendship continued for decades, including when DeMille cast Maude in his film The Ten Commandments.
Maude made her Broadway debut in the 1900 production of Quo Vadis, again with her mother.
Maude toured England with William Gillette in Sherlock Holmes from 1901 to 1902. Between 1902 and 1905, she frequently toured with Sir Henry Irving's company in the United Kingdom, and by 1907, she was the star in touring productions in the United States.
In Denver, Colorado, Maude met a drama critic from a local newspaper named Louis Hugo Sherwin (son of opera singer Amy Sherwin). The two married in secret on July 15, 1907, because, as they expected, her domineering mother did not approve. The couple soon separated and divorced in Denver in 1909. Maude then married actor James Peter Durkin. He was a silent film director with Adolph Zukor's Famous Players Film Company. This marriage ended in divorce for non-support in 1917. Soon after this, Maude married John Edward Cort. This third marriage ended in a 1923 annulment and was her last marriage. She bore no children in any of the marriages.
Maude died on November 10, 1971.

Deaths 1320 - 1329
We lost several sims over the last ten in-game years, and I thought it would be nice to remember them before we move on to new adventures.
Be prepared for many dead children.
Peter Pelham, Baron Elbenhawke (1263 – 1320)
Born as the second son of his father, Peter Pelham became Baron Elbenhawke as a young man after his brother’s and father’s deaths and held that title ably for several decades. He and his baroness, Alice, had many children, four of which lived to adulthood – Peter Jr., Joan, Richard and Mary. He saw all of them well married, although sadly, Mary, now the Countess of Petersmarch, was the only of his children not to predecease him, with Peter drowning in a shipwreck in 1304, Joan dying in childbirth in 1308, and Richard succumbing to injuries sustained during a hunting accident in 1317. To worsen those losses, his wife died of heartbreak over the loss of their eldest daughter in 1308, only a few months after Joan’s own death. He never remarried.
Despite these hardships, the baron has remained an upstanding, kind man, always more interested in books and scholarships than in martial pursuits. After the remarriage of his first daughter-in-law and the death of his wife and two adult sons, his second daughter-in-law, Caroline, has remained mistress of his household. He is survived by six grandchildren – his son Richard’s daughter Josephine and sons Richard Jr. and David, Lady Petersmarch’s daughter Lady Maud and his daughter Joan’s sons Auguste and Alexandre. Another grandchild, Lady Petersmarch’s son Robin, was born after his death.
The barony was inherited by his grandson Richard Pelham.
The baron died in his sleep on 16th February, 1320.
Irving Townsend (1321 – 1322)
Irving was the firstborn child of Simon and Mariora Townsend. His parents were overjoyed at his birth, but sadly, he passed away due to lung problems only a few weeks after his birth.
Avice Crawley (1322 – 1322)
Avice Crawley was the fourth child (although most people believe her to be the fifth one) of George and Anna Crawley. Unfortunately, she was stillborn, yet again destroying her parents’ hopes of having another living child.
Roman Chevalier (1323 – 1323)
Roman was the much looked-forward-to firstborn child of Sir Robert and Lady Chevalier. His birth was very long and taxing, and sadly led to the boy suffocating before he could take his first breath, much to the young parents’ grief.
Lady Margaret Penrith (1323 – 1323)
Lady Margaret was the third child and second daughter of the Earl and Countess of Windermere (the latter being the former Lady Gwendolen Dudley). Sadly, the girl was born rather frail and passed away at just two months old. She left behind her grieving parents and two older siblings.
Elijah Chevalier (1325 – 1325)
Elijah was the third child and second son of Sir Robert and Lady Chevalier. Born a few weeks too early in a tavern in the middle of winter while his parents were travelling home from a visit to another county, Elijah was too small and weak to survive. He died of a fever shortly after the family’s homecoming. He is survived by his parents and older sister Marguerite.
Misty Townsend (1324 – 1326)
Misty was the first (and so far, only) daughter of Simon and Mariora Townsend, although she was their third child altogether. Initially healthy, she caught a stomach infection at around 20 months old and perished despite her parents’ diligent care. She was survived by her parents and her brothers Nicolas and Christopher.
Cecily Townsend (1325 – 1326)
Little Cecily Townsend was a complicated child even before she was born. This is mainly due to her dubious parentage; at the time of her conception, her mother was having an (mercenarily motivated) affair with Clement Dudley, the earl of Petersmarch’s younger brother. Accordingly, it is unclear who her father was (At least for the Townsends. Your gracious Watcher knows that it was Clement.), which lead to a great deal of strife between her mother Malika and Malika’s husband Benjamin. Only Benjamin’s fear for his wife during the birth caused the two to eventually reconcile.
Despite this, the uncertainty shrouding Cecily would certainly have led to many difficult feelings in further years. What could have happened no one will ever know now, as the girl died of influenza at about sixteen months old.
Colbert Townsend (1327 – 1327)
Colbert Townsend was the first child of painter Gregory Townsend and his wife Agnes. Although he was fed regularly, he failed to gain weight, and died only a few weeks after his birth, leaving his parents heartbroken.
Landon Chevalier (1329 – 1329)
After seven years of marriage and two living children out of the four that were born, Sir Robert and Lady Chevalier had hoped that in Landon, they would finally have surviving son. Sadly, it wasn’t to be. Although to all appearances he was as healthy a child as any, they found him dead in his crib one morning, obviously perished during the night.
He leaves behind parents that are beginning to think that the Watcher has cursed them to never have a living son, and two older sisters, Marguerite and Jehanne.
Edwin Townsend (1322 – 1329)
Edwin was the seventh child and youngest son of his parents, Benjamin and Malika Townsend. As such, and especially given the furore that surrounded his younger sister Cecily, he was the darling of the family, and always about the farm even while he was too young to take an active part in its running.
When he turned six years old, his parents thought him safe from the illnesses that so often whisk young children away to the Watcher’s realm. His father and older siblings even started to include him in their work on the farm, and he participated in caring for the plants and bringing in the summer harvest.
Sadly, that turned out to be the last harvest he would ever see. He caught a stomach infection after its completion and passed away into the Watcher’s embrace late in 1329. He leaves behind his parents, grandfather Benedict, and his four surviving siblings – Malcolm, Amye, Frank and Adeline.
