I really wanna write an alice-is-armand fic but whenever I try to plot one I just think of armand in that short purple dress pressed up against a wall with his leg hooked around daniel's waist and his stiletto digging into the back of daniel's thigh as daniel's hand slides up the hem of the skirt the heat of his fingers and palm burning like a brand against armand's cool skin and my mind blacks out

Ok so you know when Louis is tormenting Daniel about Alice? He asks Daniel if he’d like to know what she thinks of him now, because he can do that, if he’d like. Armand interjects, bringing them back to the interview. What if he’s covering something up

A lingering question I have from IWTV. In S1E2, the dessert Louis has made for Daniel is the one he had after he proposed to his first wife. Well, we later learn in S2E2 that Alice said no to that proposal (must have been an awkward dessert). In the S2E1 scene, Daniel shows some muted sadness but also some fondness for the incident. Yet in the S2E2, it's made clear that this is actually a very emotionally charged moment for Daniel, nearly bringing him to tears when he is pressed about it.
I am not on the Armand/Alice memory mixing train, but it really seems like a strong shift from muted sadness/fondness to high emotions especially as paired with the triggering flashbacks to San Francisco and Armand.
Like, I am pretty sure the showrunners didn't mean for it to seem odd or connected in that way, but the two scenes just don't seem to jive the way one would expect, especially with how much the show discusses the fallability and mercurial nature of memory. As such, I am surprised there wasn't more made of the two scenes, like Daniel or Louis bringing up the dessert in the S2E2 scene.

Notice in season one during the scene where Louis serves the dessert Daniel had with “Alice” in Paris how Daniel says, “This is the dessert *I* had when I proposed to my first wife”
Not “This is the dessert WE had”
I. Singular.
Because Armand doesn’t eat human food.

I hope Alice does turn out to actually be Armand. And I hope every season going forward we find out more and more of Armand's secret identities.

As someone who is studying linguistics, I always pay atention to characters' names - their meaning and origin and, therefore, how those can relate to the character itself.
I noticed how Armand's names have always adapted to the place where he's residing, and they're always relatively common names starting with "a". And they're all somewhat symbolic of the various roles he's taken (against his will or not) throughout his life.
Book Armand was born Andrei (slavic), show born Armand was born Arun (Sanskrit). Then he became Amadeo (Latin/Italian) and finally, Armand (french).
The name Alice has german origin but it became very popular in english-speaking countries when Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland during Victoria's reign.
The writers could have chosen ANY FEMALE NAME in the WORLD, and yet they chose such a banal (almost "lazy") english-american name starting with "a", which feels exacly the type of name Armand would have deliberatly chosen for one of his "identities".
Which could mean nothing, of course.
This is a fun addition to the Armand is Alice theory. I do really like it.
I'm still not exactly swayed, but I do enjoy hearing about it! I just have too many questions if we're going to go the route of Alice not existing at all. Especially about her pregnancy and the implication that she's the mother of at least one of Daniel's daughters. I don't see Armand fabricating a whole child.
But who knows? Armand is a fucking weirdo. It's one of the reasons I love him so much. So maybe I'm not giving him enough credit lol
Thanks for sharing your theories!

The most unhinged s3 reveal for the alice=armand theory would be if alice exists as a completely separate character but she's played by assad zaman in a dollar store wig

I actually really need that theory that Alice is Armand to be true and I’ll be expecting season 3 to have another person turn out to be Armand as a season ending plot twist. Thank you very much
