#TichButtonReview: The story is about two childhood friends separated by distance and misunderstandinand reunited by love. Movie Rating - ⭐⭐⭐ “Tich Button” was supposed to come out on Eid Ul Fitr 2020. It’s an Eid film that missed its due date for 2 years but is now finally out. And it fits the bill for Eid films out and out. It has romance, comedy, a little bit of action, and drama. And surprisingly enough, it’s not a bad film to see this weekend. The story of “Tich Button” is about two childhood friends separated by distance and misunderstanding and reunited by love. Farhan Saeed plays ‘Kaka’ in his film debut, the playful village boy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Feroze Khan plays Saqib, the son of the family patriarch who works as a restaurant manager in Turkey. As Kaka says, the two are “Tich Button”. Saqib has been promised to the ‘Phuppo Ki Beti’ Shakeela played by Sonya Hussyn back home. However, he’s got no interest and enlists Kaka’s help to get him out of marriage. This leaves room for Kaka and Shakeela to grow closer together instead. On the other hand, Saqib falls for Iman Ali’s Leena, a Turkish born Pakistani who can’t hold down a job because of her uncompromising demeanour. As the two couples meet in Punjab for Kaka and Shakeela’s wedding, sparks begin to fly. Love blossoms in unexpected places and childhood friendships are tested. This is an old plot, but because of the stellar cast, it’s an enjoyable ride. Farhan Saeed has a natural knack for the big screen. Nowhere does he seem shy or restrained. His presence fills the screen and he’s comfortable working alongside both Samiya Mumtaz and Sohail Ahmed who are both on point. Feroze Khan also plays his role well. However, Iman Ali is the weak link in the chain. She plays up the arrogant foreign born Pakistani girl who discovers the warmth of village life in Pakistan. However, it’s not a very convincing performance. Farhan Saeed Demonstrates a Natural Knack for the Big Screen Tich Button belongs to Farhan Saeed. The only time he’s upstaged is when he shares the screen with Sohail Ahmed and Samiya Mumtaz, but then that’s to be expected from the industry veterans. https://www.instagram.com/p/Clfyy0dpiPH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

★ “Stardom will go away. It is not permanent. ” – Salman Khan!
He is Bollywood’s evergreen lover boy ‘Prem’, favourite action star, ‘Chulbul Pandey’ and without any doubt, the ‘Tiger’ of the film industry. We are talking about the man who needs no introduction, Salman Khan. After ‘Race 3’ in 2018, Bollywood’s beloved ‘Bhaijaan’ is all set for the release of his next film ‘Bharat’ on the occasion of Eid 2019 and gets candid with CineSpeaks on the film, it’s plot and much more. Read to know further.
Q) So Salman, the film is about to release, the songs are amazing and the trailer is fantastic is well. So tell us something. How are you feeling inside?
Salman – Everything is there in the film which we look forward to. Action, comedy, thrill, drama everything but the main reason why the film has been done is because of the ‘plot’ of the film. The fact how a 9 year old boy has been given the task to take care of his mother, 3 siblings and how he does that to ensuring they finally settle down and marry. From the age of 9 to 72,his journey and everything. It’s lovely.
Q) Seems like it pretty much reflects you in reality because you are always so supportive towards your parents and friends?
Salman – It’s actually ‘ulta yaar’. They have been supporting me throughout. I need the support. (Laughs)
Q) Do Fridays make you nervous anymore?
Salman – Hahaha. If 2-3 go wrong, I will be.. But till now, inshallah has been good. Even though we talk about ‘Race 3’, it did more than 170 crores. So inshallah going good as of now.
Q) We heard there were changes in the story and script. Tell us about that.
Salman – See, I had narrated the story to Sooraj(Barjatya) and he made a very nice suggestion. After that when me and Ali spoke, I told him that they should not get married. Otherwise the whole thing gets diluted. Him taking care of the mother, siblings, father etc, the whole point gets a little diluted. So bass itna nahi.
Q) Salman, you are the only actor whose presence itself just makes the audience go wild..they clap, whistle and what not and due to this, you are still at the top. Do you think you are still the biggest heavyweight in front of the new stars?
Salman – Uparwaale ne mujhe nawazaa hai.. Fans ka support hai bass and undying support. Pata nahi wo mujh mein kya dekhte hai ki unka wo side nikal aata hai. Also the kind of films I do or have been doing till now, I have been seeing them since childhood and used to react the same way. So now when I am on the other side of it on screen, I feel I am sitting there with my fans and watching it and it somewhere gives me a feel that I would want my hero to do these things. So that’s it.
Q) Do you watch shows on the web as in digital?
Salman – When I start, I end up finishing 4 seasons. It’s dangerous and addictive man.
Q) So which are the ones you watched?
Salman – I saw ‘Game of Thrones’ till the 4th episode and then couldn’t see it after that because ek break lag gaya tha aur phirr ho nahi paya. I finished ‘Vikings’ recently. Then ‘Taboo’, ‘Arrow’, Then I watched ‘Peaky Blinders’ as well. I want to now watch ‘Money Heist’. There are 3-4 more.
Q) You are a magnanimous superstar today. You have name, fame and everything today. Is there anything still on the dream list?
Salman – Hahah sadly enough, dream karne ka utna time hai nahi mere paas kyunki main utna sota nahi hoon. Toh yeh chakkar hai. Kaise dream karu?
Q) Salman, where do you think your stardom is heading? You are confident of it being there always?
Salman – Stardom will go away. It’s not permanent. I think fortunately enough, Me, Shah Rukh, Aamir and Akshay are the only ones who have been able to hold it for so long. Otherwise it’s not easy to keep it going for such a long time. I am sure after a few years, our box office collections too would end up being 8%, 10% etc. But thankfully enough, that phase hasn’t started yet.
Q) Salman, a few days back, Akki told us that he can do action oriented movies till 56 57 maybe. How long do you think you will be able to do it?
Salman– Not too long I guess. Another 30-35 years max. (Grins)
Q) Coming to marriage, have you been approached for marriage by anyone till now?
Salman – No man. I am dissapointed. I haven’t been approached for marriage.
Q) Are you upset with Priyanka regarding leaving the film?
Salman – No, not at all. I think it was a very brave, bold and great decision that she chose to get married at a time like this when she got a big film like ‘Bharat’. She had also come to the house once to talk about it where she said she is going to get married.. So I initially asked her if she wants adjustments in the dates or not. Then I got the vibe that she isn’t willing to do the film anymore so I said fine enough and fair enough. At a time when people wait to get married for a major film in their career, she has gone ahead to marry and left a film. So it’s such a bold thing to do. Damn good man.
Q) Your mother, Salma aunty said that ‘Film mein 70 age mein wo jitne handsome lag rahe hai reality mein bhi 70 mein wo itna hi lagenge’. What do you have to say on that?
Salman – She said that? Wow.. Nahi pata tha yaar. I mean what can I say? Have you seen her husband at 84? The way he looks. (Smiles hinting at his father Salim Khan)
Q) Salman, you think your change in look will be widely accepted or are you nervous?
Salman – See, I heard throughout my life that ‘Agar hero ke baal chale gaye toh wo nikal gaya hero bracket se’. In ‘Tere Naam’, I removed my hair and that look was accepted. Not just once, I have done it 2-3 times. So I am sure it will be well received.
Q) Last but not the least, whose idea was it to cast Jackie Shroff?
Salman – Mera. I know kal Ali isska credit leke bhaag jayega issliye maine pehele se bol diya haan. Mera idea tha. (Laughs)

★ Sultan to Bharat: Salman Khan’s mega success features a Delhi University biochemistry grad!
8 June, 2019
Ali Abbas Zafar is a master at disguising the subtext in the opulent, big-budget spectaculars he has been delivering.
One of Bollywood’s biggest hit-machines is a man who left his home in Dehradun at 16 to study biochemistry at Delhi’s Kirori Mal College, but survived on a diet of Saadat Hasan Manto, Premchand and William Shakespeare. Ali Abbas Zafar has recast Salman Khan’s career with three mega movies, Sultan (2016), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and now Bharat (2019).
He is the Salman Whisperer. Son of a father who moved from the Border Roads Organisation to ONGC and a mother who taught English and Urdu at a government school, Ali Abbas Zafar has single-handedly made back-to-back Rs 300-crore movies.
Zafar, 37, is a master at disguising the subtext in the opulent, sometimes noisy, big-budget spectaculars he has been delivering. His early reading shaped his worldview, gave him his belief in equality, in rational thought, and in India’s democracy. His heroes were Bhagat Singh (in Tiger Zinda Hai, Tiger reads a bedtime story about him to his son) and Mahatma Gandhi, and it is no accident that he believes India’s greatest strength is its diversity.
Also read: Salman Khan’s Eid release Bharat finally has him play a character his age — a 70-year-old
Nelson Mandela inspired me, he says. So did the Dalai Lama. “You listen to him and realise how simply he sees the world. The first instinct of all these great men,” he tells ThePrint, “is and was always humane and emotional.”
It’s a message he hopes will reach every last person in the line buying tickets for Salman Khan’s films; and the star clearly trusts him enough to do what is asked of him, whether it is putting on weight to play an out-of-shape boxer on his way to redemption in Sultan or switching from a motorcycle to a horseback to a battered sedan to escape an ISI militant in a town called Ikrit in Tiger Zinda Hai.
Or, play a character embodying the nation in his new film. “Tujh main poora Bharat hai beta,” says his father to a young Salman in Bharat. He asks him to take care of his family, and Salman does precisely that over 70 years of change in India – watching over events from Jawaharlal Nehru’s death to the liberalisation of the Indian economy and its asli hero, Manmohan Singh, along the way working on an oil rig in the Arabian desert, and fighting Somali pirates on the high seas.
Sitting in the atrium of Yash Raj Studios, which has been his home since 2008, Zafar says: “The nation is one big family and by contributing to it, you are contributing to the nation. To say this with a superstar with a mass mainstream following is challenging”.
And so, he focuses on what is humane – Salman as an oil rig worker fights with the American supervisor over quality of food, or the young orphan in the refugee camp in 1947 who refuses to go to Pakistan though he is a Muslim because his father fought for India’s freedom. “I am not interested in propagating one party’s goodness over another. I am interested in remaining true to my characters, to use their narrative to understand the times we are in,” says Zafar. “And I want to leave everyone with hope,” he adds.
So, if Salman played the classic underdog in Sultan, who was fighting the demons within, in Tiger Zinda Hai, he took on an enemy who was threatening to destroy the world with his evil ideology and who could be fought only by uniting India and Pakistan’s forces.
The idea for Bharat came from Salman, says Zafar, who loved the South Korean film, Ode to my Father (2014), and wanted him to adapt it. “I think what appealed to Salman was the idea of one man looking out for his family,” says Zafar, which is similar to the star’s own life.
Zafar’s worldview was cemented by his three years at the Kirori Mal College, not so much because of the course, but because of his involvement with its much-feted dramatic society, The Players. He staged a play annually in college. From then on, working in films was his only obsession.
He was the runner in Lakshya (2004) for 10 days when the Farhan Akhtar film was shot in Delhi, and then assisted Shonali Bose on her film Amu (2005), based on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. “That’s when I realised the power of cinema to effect social change, how it can create tremendous social consciousness and how it can happen at both ends of the spectrum, from Satyajit Ray to Yash Chopra,” he says.
So, he packed his bags and came to Mumbai to work as an assistant director on Shaad Ali’s Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007) and has never looked back. Quizmaster Siddhartha Basu, who was cast in Tiger Zinda Hai, says: “Zafar’s sensibility is grounded in the progressive stream of large canvas commercial cinema, and he’s been developing his story-telling abilities to match that. His focus, discipline and patience have helped him juggle the pulls and pressures of handling big-ticket projects with challenging stakeholders while remaining steadfast to the integrity of his vision”. No small feat in the Hindi film industry.
Zafar credits Aditya Chopra, movie director and chairman of Yash Raj Films, for allowing him the freedom to find his own distinct voice, especially in an environment which has become severely critical of everything. After experimenting with his vision in Mere Brother ki Dulhan (2011) and Gunday (2014), he felt he found his artistic ideal in Sultan.
What is unique about Zafar is also his collaboration with Salman. He believes the 53-year-old’s fans want to celebrate when they see his movies. “They see him as an instant energiser, like a bottle of soda who will douse them with his fizz. They don’t want to be disoriented. I believe there is a very beautiful actor under the skin of the superstar,” says Zafar. “His first instinct is always that of an actor and I have often asked him to do things, which reveal his vulnerabilities. As a director, you cannot judge your actor. You have to be like a parent, take care of the actor while he or she is on the set, between action and cut.”
Salman and he communicate silently, says Zafar, “usually through our eyes”. “We talk only when we have to. We are honest with each other and yes, we do have differences of opinion at times. Sometimes I let him prevail, sometimes he lets me prevail,” he says. But the rise and fall of movies should not affect relationships, he adds, perhaps alluding to rumours of a divide between him and Salman on the final cut of Bharat.
Zafar lives quietly amid the hurly-burly of Bollywood. He is single, obsessed with his travel, his reading, watching TV, and playing sports. “I keep my personal and professional life separate. I don’t try to be anyone’s buddy. I was raised in an isolated way and left home when I was very young. When I am part of a filmmaking team of 200 people, I realise I have to be a team player, but once I am done, I am off,” he says.
No doubt, to think about and create the next blockbuster.

“Purani Jeans Aur Guitar Mohalle Ki Vo Chhat Aur Mere Yaar”
This is a song from Pakistani pop singer Ali Haider. Whenever I hear to this song, I remember my childhood days in my quaint town. It was so in that town. My early days were spent through 80s and 90s. So much was happening in India those days. But as we know that a child is innocent and so were we. In our town, people from all communities used to live. There were Hindus and there were Muslims. In the present scenario, the talks about Hindus and Muslims always tend to get acerbic. I don’t know why, but it is so.
Today Eid al-Fitr festivities will kick-off in India. Yes, that is why I am writing this. Sitting quietly at my present home which is miles away from the place I spent my childhood, I started getting nostalgic about the days I spent at my home town. Those were the days of wonder. Like as we said “Mohalle Ki Vo Chhat Aur Mere Yaar.” There used to unparalleled jubilation when we used to celebrate the days of Ramazan and eventually Eid al-Fitr.
There was a reason for a connection between all of us. We know that we are a cricket-crazy nation. And we were not away from the game from cricket. There was a field nearby to my home. The boys from all communities used to gather at that place and play cricket. We all were passionate about the game irrespective of our religions, be it Hindus or Muslims. We had built a good rapport between all of us. I remember the games used to be played with all heart.
I must say we were away from the political dimensions of the country. One of my Hindu friend, whom I can also call as one of my best friend as I spent most of my childhood with him, was also a big time cricket enthusiast. He had his own kit which included bats, pads, gloves and helmets. He was an ardent Imran Khan fan. His love for Imran was so intense that he painted his pads in green. Those were the days when Imran had lifted the World Cup in Australia. Their kit in that tournament considered to be their best till date.
The bond that we shared irrespective of our religion was really amazing. We are all humans and we are bound to feel attachment when we spend our time together. At my school as well, I relished Sevaiyan from the tiffin of my friends whenever they brought it a day after the festival of Eid al-Fitr. I must that say that those days as well there were a trench between both the communities. But we as kids were oblivion. We just enjoyed our company. The days of wonder as I said.
As we grew bigger, we visited each others’ homes. We visited each other on occasions like birthdays, marriages, Holi, Diwali and Eid al-Fitr. I have very fond memories of the days of Ramzan. My friends used to call me to their homes for Iftaar. We used to go there. The hospitality that we received at their houses were out of world. We were served with many delicacies. I used to wonder how much effort it would have taken for them to prepare all those things. Moreover, they served us lovingly.
Sometimes we used to go to the terraces of their homes and sit for hours chatting all the things about this world. Eid al-Fitr was a big celebration. We used to visit homes of each of our friends celebrating the festival. We had to eat at all the homes. What a lovely days. I am missing that this year as I am away from my home town. As I write, I get more and more nostalgic. I am also wondering why there is a divide between the communities and why the differences are a fodder for many people. Why is it so? We all can live in harmony. Yes!!
Eid Mubarak!!

★ Salman Khan needs to score Rs 300 crore with Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat!
May 08, 2019
The film featuring Salman Khan as the central protagonist and the numero uno superstar has the target set already -- he needs to score a triple century.
As is the case in high-scoring cricket matches, a batsman needs to start hitting right from the first ball. There is no other way. Same is the case with high profile films featuring superstars and a top director -- you need to deliver a blockbuster.
Bharat is one such film.
The film features Salman Khan as the central protagonist and the numero uno superstar, has the target set already. He needs to score a triple century here. Period.
After all, the film is as big as it gets and is also seeing an Eid release. We just saw that despite a regular release, and that too on just 2,845 screens, Avengers: Endgame managed to score a triple century in 10 days. Now, that's a feat that no other Bollywood film has ever achieved. Not that one is expecting Bharat to achieve a similar milestone. However, the basic expectation for this film to go past the Rs 300-crore mark.
The film is also special as it sees the coming together of Salman Khan with director Ali Abbas Zafar and leading lady Katrina Kaif after Tiger Zinda Hai. The action entertainer had entered the Rs 300 crore club and now that the same team has reunited for Bharat, expectations are of course high.
Zafar is a director of repute. Right from the time he made his debut with Mere Brother Ki Dulhan to delivering a success in Gunday, his graph has only escalated with every passing film. With Sultan, he shot to fame big time. Along with Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma, he delivered a Rs 300 crore club success that was critically acclaimed, as well as commercially well-received. This was followed by Tiger Zinda Hai which set the screens on fire with its Christmas 2017 release.
Eid 2019 could well be game, set and match for the team. After all, Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif 'jodi' has time and again delivered. Bharat is turning out to be all the more special. The film features Khan in a never seen before role as he traverses generations from the time of partition to the present. While it is always good to see him at his youthful best, this time, it is even more special as Khan is appearing as an aged man for the first time. That may well end up fetching him a new fan base altogether.
While the teaser of the film had indicated a 'masala' outing in the offering, the trailer has sent out signals that the story may have a lot more to offer than what meets the eye. After all, Khan's character of Bharat is pretty much taking forward the journey that 'Bharat' has seen since partition to the present. This could make for an interesting viewing.
Khan's last couple of films had disappointed commercially and critically, with neither Tubelight nor Race 3 working with the audiences. Tubelightwas way too dull and borderline grim whereas Race 3 was all style and no substance. On the contrary, Bharat seems to be relying a lot on the core content while Zafar's inherent love for 'masala' means there would be entertainment galore for the audiences as well.
What needs to be seen though is how it all fits in when the entire narrative of Bharat unfolds on screen. While it is a given that Khan would be seeing a much better opening for his Bharat when compared to Race 3 Rs 29.17 crore or Tubelight Rs 21.15 crore, it has to be seen how much further does it go when compared with Tiger Zinda Hai Rs 34.10 crore.
Avengers: Endgame has shown that a score in the excess of Rs 50 crore is also possible on three consecutive days. Though that would be way too much to ask from Bharat, it would be satisfying enough if at least for one day during the first weekend, the biggie manages this feat.
